Reviews
The hotel reviews are mixed, with guests expressing both satisfaction and dissatisfaction. Many guests appreciated the cleanliness, comfort, and quietness of the rooms, as well as the friendly and helpful staff. However, there were also frequent complaints about maintenance issues, such as broken tiles, malfunctioning AC, and lack of hot water. Additionally, some guests were disappointed with the limited utility offerings in the rooms and the quality of the breakfast.

Had a double queen room booked. Couldn’t check in before we had to head to a music festival at merriweather, but was assured our room would be available after the show. Checked in at midnight and was assigned a king bed with a fold out couch. Not what was reserved but made it work.

Probably was really nice and the employees was nice

Everything was great until I try to turn ac off because it was to high. Report it to the front desk several times and I was told that they call the maintenance department. In short I slept in a very cold room

Clean Rooms and only the Rooms, Easy Check-in. Housekeeping is outstanding. As of May 1, 2026, The Building and Grounds here are horrible. Leaves and Trash all over the Parking Lot. Half the Security Lights on the poles, behind the Building where you can Park and enter the Building were not working. Most of the security lights need the tree limbs pruned back so the lights actually shine down to the ground and not the tree branches. Grass was a foot tall everywhere. 98% of the wall thermostats do not control the hvac, you have to manually control them at the unit itself. plus half the units either the a/c or heat does not work. The sixth floor ice machine has been broken for a month at least. All the knobs that control the cooktops are stripped out, good luck shutting them off if you ever get them on. I tried using the digital key to get in the back door like the sign says but that was not working. In one of the rooms I noticed that the bathroom faucet was broke off and it was just held down with a ton of silicone sealant. The shower heads are so loose coming out of the wall, I do not dare to adjust them. Burned out light bulbs in the Elevator and walking down the hallways, a lot of the wall lamps were broken. The hallways were very dreary not bright at all. Almost all the units that I have stayed in with the bath tubs, which I hate, the drain plug was busted stopping the water from draining, so you have to completely remove the plug for water to drain. The lamps with the build in usb and power outlets, the connections are so loose they spark on occasion when plugging something in. It also appears that some units have people that are actually living in them, if you look from the out side in the back of the building, one of the windows in the back have stuffed animals in them, who does this for a quick stay? Creepy. The Digital key is a mixed bag, you still need to check-in to get a card to operate the lights and get in the back door.

Great location next to JHU
- 2/5
The A/C in my room unfortunately didn’t work. The hotel as a whole was old and could use some renovation. For example, there was mold/grime around the showers
- 3/5
The lobby is nice, the free breakfast is good, and the hotel is in a convenient location, but our room wasn't great. The ottoman was worn, the couch fabric was worn, the bathroom needed caulking and there was a dampness under the heater/ac.
- 5/5
First time staying at this location and I was very pleased with my stay. It was a great experience from start to finish. Rooms are clean, breakfast was wonderful with a variety of options to choose from. The staff were very friendly and accommodating as well. I wish I could have stayed longer.

The beds were comfortable, the appliances worked well, and the bathroom amenities were adequate. I booked this hotel two months in advance and requested an early check-in for my mother's 80th birthday celebration. I was told to call a week in advance. Thereafter, every time I called, the request was postponed to the next day with an excuse. Finally, on the day, the excuses continued with 'housekeeping,' etc. At the hotel check-in, they assigned me to the last room at the very end, across from the storage room, a very long walk from the elevators. The door opened and closed with a push, making a loud noise. My mom walked with a cane and was breathless after walking from the elevators to the room. During check-in, only one person was at the desk, causing a 20-minute delay. Meanwhile, the makeup artist and videographer were waiting for us to settle before meeting us. As soon as I got to the room, I requested another one, but was given the 'all the rooms are booked' excuse. I'm unhappy with the way I was treated, given that the room had already been paid for before my check-in.

Breakfast was great. Facilities were great and inviting nice for families. My daughter enjoyed her Spring Break. Nice, clean with friendly staff Laundry was available on the premises but out of order throughout our stay and we stayed a week. I told the management about this but my comments went ignored.

Room was very clean. The only complaint I had was my son slept on the pull out sofa and the mattress was so thin you could feel every spring in it.
- 3/5
I had to get my room changed. It's smelled odd. Turns out the trash from the kitchen was not removed. The next room was better. However, I would not return to this particular hotel.

Would totally give this place a 5star except for two things: one of the night clerks was really rude and condescending. The other, our room AC did not go below 66 (we like our room COLD in order to sleep) but the sitting area room went all the way down to 60. Other than those two issues, we had a great stay. Breakfast was great every morning. Something for everyone. And the rest of the front end staff was curteous and helpful. The location is perfect for families - quiet. And located right across the street from a small strip of restaurants! I would def stay here again. One of the managers, Antonio McDougald was a really great help when we couldnt get our originally reaerved suite because of a flooding in the room above - he was able to find accommodations that fit our needs. Not to mention he was VERY patient with me when I was very demanding. We appreciate him very much! Great place to stay with your family.

I was a little upset that the pool was out of order which was my only reason for the stay.

The room was a miniature apartment. It has a the amenities someone need for an apartment. A full size refrigerator stood out the most
- 4/5
The rooms here are very clean, spacious & modernized! I've stayed at many Homewood locations & the hotel is always on point. Breakfast was mediocre, not everyone eats pork sausages & there wasn't another option. The biggest disappointment was the closed pool. Although the hotel says it was listed on their website for months it was not listed on hotels.com. We were in town for a Softball tournament & hoped to use the pool for the team to wind down after the games. The hotel didn't offer any options when I voiced my opinion, they said they would look into it but never said anything else before we checked out. I referred several parents to the hotel based off of my previous experiences with customer service, cleanliness etc... It was disappointing the lack of response. Basically its on our main site we have no control over if 3rd party sites have our amenities updated. Lesson learned, check with the actual hotel before booking!
- 5/5
There was 1 staff meme we managing the breakfast area and though she did her best, it was obvious she needed help to replenish food and supplies. She was extremely responsive to our requests for mistiming items
- 5/5
This was a great stay.
- 3/5
Why can’t you have privacy curtains in your rooms. I don’t need to wake up with the full sun shining on my face. This is the only area of concern I have, everything else was great
- 4/5
I did not like the fact that my reservation was cancelled though I checked in electronically and the manager wanted to put the blame on me rather than accept their mistakes. It took hours to be reassigned a new room and it was a terrible experience.
- 5/5
Great room setup. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast options.
- 5/5
Its was a quick stay but def will stay there again
- 5/5
The room was updated and very large.

The staff and room cleanliness were very nice. Uncomfy pillows and bed, unfortunately.

The suite was great it had a lot of space. The bed was comfy. The indoor pool wasn’t working. But everything else was great.

Not clean bed, not enough to breakfast (no coffee,no bread, no fruit today AM 7~8, 9/14/2025)
- 2/5
Not very clean to begin with. Cleaning service skipped a day of my 3 day stay.
- 4/5
Curtains were off the track and wouldn't slide. Out of hair conditioner. Check in was a disaster
- 5/5
Was in the area for surgery. Perfect location and set up in our king suite.
- 5/5
Rooms are spacious and well appointed. Bed was comfortable. Not a fan of Feather Pillows and the "foam" ones were not so great.
- 5/5
Very clean. Nice suite, could work while bro slept. 1 coffee mug in a room for 2, up to 4 ain't good. Overall great, though brief stay. Breakfast was great.
- 4/5
A good hotel with convenient access to the Merriweather Post Pavillion - which is why we chose this location. Good service. Comfortable & spacious suits. Decent breakfast with plenty of choices. We will definitely return here for our next concert!
- 3/5
I'm typically pretty easy to please, but my stay at this Homewood Suites was subpar for this hotel chain. For this trip, I was looking for a hotel with 3 things - close distance to my family reunion, good breakfast, and an indoor pool. Based on the pictures and stars and my previous stays at Homewood Suites, I selected this property. I wanted a nicer stay than some of the competitors in the area with breakfast and indoor pools. Ha! At check-in, I was informed that the pool was closed for maintenance. I asked when would the maintenance occur and the staff didn't know. Then when we got to our room, I was pleasantly surprised to have a smart TV with YouTube and Netflix and Chromecast, or so I thought. Though the remote and the screen itself stated that these features were present, I couldn't get it to work after trying for several minutes. I called the front desk and was told that the TVs are not connected to the Internet so none of that would work and that you could just watch regular cable, according to maintenance, who is apparently always the bad guy. I don't understand how you can have smart TVs with screens that lie to you? The final issue was the next morning at breakfast. The spread was subpar and they ran out of coffee. It was crowded, but management knows how many guests are there. Why didn't you make enough coffee? But my room was clean and it was quiet, so I'm giving 3 stars. It might be awhile before I trust a Homewood Suites again...

pool was closed. Specifically went with 3 kids overnight for the pool. Very disappointed
- 5/5
The rooms are spacious and the breakfast is delicious
- 5/5
Always a great stay
- 1/5
The service at this hotel was lacking in every way. There was a terrible smell coming from the living area in our suite. I alerted the staff immediately and every day of our 3 day stay. Nothing was ever done about it. I was told I would have to downgrade our room in order to rectify the issue. I doubt I would ever stay here again.
- 4/5
Very nice overall. I wish the Pool had been open - it was closed for maintenance. ☹️
- 5/5
Lovely space, very comfortable and clean, very responsive staff.
- 5/5
Nice room good breakfast
- 5/5
Excellent staff, super friendly and very helpful
- 5/5
That being said, it can all be easily improved.
- 5/5
No milk for cereal was available. The room suite was roomy. The room was clean but did have a shoe type odor that we noticed when first opening the room door. We didn’t smell it after showering and leaving for the evening when returning. Overall the room was good and the stay was too. We have stayed in better and definitely worse. This isn’t a bad place to stay while visiting the area. I’d stay here again. Hopefully they get the pool done as it was not available too!!
- 5/5
Every year in May we stay here. Every year the pool is being worked on or not available. * I still can’t understand why they serve pulled pork for a breakfast item and chicken sausage. The breakfast Belgian waffles are the only item that was appealing to us with the fresh fruit.
- 2/5
Booked because of the pool. Pool is drained but “You can go to one of our other properties 15-20 minutes away to use there pool”. Used a bed liner as a sheet. Took our dirty towels and never replaced them
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 3/5
The gym was ok, but there were no fresh towels to use after a challenging work out. The sanitizer wipes werw empty and we asked them to replace them but never did.
- 3/5
I liked the staff. The overall hotel looks nice. I did not like the sewage smell on our second night. I did not like the pool had no water in the pool which is one reason we chose the room. I did not like that our room did not have blankets (until the second/ third night when we asked) but bed skirts as covers. I did not like that the room had several things that had been broke and poorly repaired such as the old air conditioner attached to the wall and the trim under the sink was broke, there was a spot on the floor. The buffet was good.
- 4/5
We stay here often as it's very convenient for us. No issues, except next time we will ask to be put away from the basketball courts. Kids were having fun but a bit noisy for us.
- 5/5
Great place! Very clean. Lots of food options near by.
- 5/5
The front desk was very friendly. Our room was spacious, and clean. The breakfast was delicious.
- 5/5
Thank you.
- 5/5
Good breakfast
- 4/5
It was ok. Restaurants right across the street. Quiet. Breakfast had good choices. Mattress was a bit too hard and pillows were too squishy. Parking was easy and plentiful.
- 4/5
Sadly, the pool was closed for renovation / repair, but otherwise our stay was great! Staff was fast, friendly, professional, and helpful. Hotel and surrounding area was clean and felt very safe. Lots of things to do close by, and parking was a breeze.
- 5/5
It was as expected. Workers were great and accommodating. We would stay there again.
- 5/5
Large spacious and comfortable rooms.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Good location off the freeway for a layover before entering the congestion areas of DC Northern VA metro
- 5/5
The complimentary breakfast was really good.
- 5/5
Great hotel that was very convenient for our trip to Laurel. Only criticism is that breakfast did not start at 6:30am on Saturday. Otherwise, great hotel
- 5/5
A great value for very comfortable suite in a clean, quiet hotel with a very nice breakfast buffet to start your day -- exactly what I was hoping for! I plan to stay there again in the future.
- 5/5
Great hotel. Good people. Skimpy on cleaning and towel service.
- 5/5
They’re always helpful and didn’t charge me for security deposit cuz my card was maxed out
- 5/5
Nice stay. Comfortable

Outstanding hotel!
- 1/5
Firstly, the fire alarm would go off EVERY SINGLE MORNING at 7:30 am sharp! I'm not talking about a gentle, soothing alarm; I'm talking about a LOUD, EAR-SHATTERING BLAST that would jolt you out of bed. It was as if the hotel was intentionally trying to disrupt our sleep and ruin our day. I inquired about the reason behind these daily alarms, but the staff seemed clueless. To make matters worse, the housekeeping service was virtually non-existent. Our room was not cleaned or serviced during our entire stay, despite our requests. We had to repeatedly ask for clean towels, which were not available. It was frustrating to have to trek down to the front desk every time we needed something as basic as towels. The front desk staff seemed unresponsive and unhelpful. They appeared overwhelmed and unconcerned about our issues. When I brought up the fire alarm and housekeeping problems, they just shrugged it off and promised to "look into it." Needless to say, nothing changed during our stay. In conclusion, my experience at Homewood Columbia Laurel was a disaster. The constant fire alarms, lack of housekeeping, and unresponsive staff made our stay unbearable. Unless the hotel addresses these issues, I would strongly advise against staying here. There are far better options available that can provide a peaceful and comfortable stay. 1/5

Nice property! Starbucks right across the street!
- 5/5
Very comfortable and pleasant.
- 4/5
Only problem I had was controlling the heat. At times it was too hot.
- 4/5
Great location. Multiple dining options across the street. Room was huge. Entire facility was spotless, but did see a small roach which I reported to the very responsive management. Nice variety of breakfast options. Disappointed that pool was closed. Fridge door handle was broken.
- 5/5
safe.quiet and very clean
- 5/5
Very clean and many breakfast choices
- 5/5
My daughter and I stayed here and enjoyed the hotel (super comfy bed and pillows) with just a few minor issues, one of them being the VERY heavy room doors. They are quite hard to push open. We also would have liked to have disposable coffee cups in the room but we just grabbed one from downstairs. The breakfast buffet was very good, they had a breakfast burrito bar along with the usual selections. It’s also right across the street from a shopping center with a Mexican restaurant. I would definitely stay again if I was in the area.
- 3/5
Breakfast was good!!!!!
- 2/5
This used to be my favorite place to stay when I would come to Maryland, however, it has gotten to be very run down. The air conditioner in the bedroom needed a thorough cleaning or should have been replaced because it had a bad musty smell to it. The only reason I didn't ask for a room change is because I didn't want to take a chance on getting a room that was even worse. The tv in the outer area was not working, although I did call about this, and they replaced it. When I opened the sofa bed it still had a fitted sheet on it from the previous guest and I found hair on it, so I had to ask for clean sheets. Also, my room was never cleaned during my 2 night stay. No fresh towels, no re-ups on any supplies. I was very disappointed, and I won’t be back.
- 4/5
The hotel clearly has cash flow and cost cutting issues. There was a recent remodel -- the carpet, wall paper, etc was in decent shape and was modern. But it must have gone over budget. The sheets on the bed were old, shrunken, and fit poorly -- one corner of the fitted sheet kept coming up. The one (!) luggage trolley was positively dilapidated. But these are minor issues, overall. The continental breakfast was delightful with more variety than I expected and the staff was cheerful and hard working. Overall, the stay was really pleasant - the quiet atmosphere and convenient location were just what I wanted.
- 3/5
Poo closed and room damaged.
- 4/5
Asked for some ice and were informed that the hotel does not have ice machines. Rooms are not cleaned every day.
- 5/5
I recommend this hotel! Very good service, breakfast Delicious, everything very good! The staff speaks Spanish and English They are very attentive in every way!!! I give it 5 stars!
- 4/5
Swimming pool broken, TV not working dependably. Good breakfast and large clean rooms. The property needs better maintenance but otherwise is very good.
- 1/5
Late check in, had two rooms reserved. Both were dirty with hair in kitchen and bathroom, one room had trash on the floor, other room’s AC didn’t work well. It was a 1:00 am at check in due to flight delays and we had a six-year old with us, and didn’t want to deal with it. The next morning, at 1030 am, one room had no hot water after running it for 40 min. The other room we had was one floor up directly above the first room and had hot water. Called front desk and was told someone would be at the room to check on the water situation right away. Waited 40 minutes and no one showed. At that time, had to check out. At checkout, I left a message requesting a mgr call me regarding the water situation with no response. Called and left messages the following three days with no return call. Horrible customer service, dirty rooms and one without hot water (never even reached room temperature) with no response - really? Please go somewhere else where the rate you are paying and experience at the hotel will be valued. Still no response from hotel.
- 4/5
The way I saw them, they didn't change the sheets. they're just shaking them up.after that I like it.
- 5/5
The manager on staff was great, and all of the employees were nice and helpful! I will definitely stay here again!
- 3/5
There was a roach crawling on the wall that I had to kill with my shoe. The silverware drawer was missing part of the bottom so if you dropped a knife if your foot was under it you could get cut. The dining table has seen better days.
- 4/5
Our stay this weekend was better than a couple of months ago as it appears they made some improvements on the broken tiles on the floor and elevators. There was some debris that we noted on the box spring at the head of the bed and we noted a heavy concentration of dirt/dust above the ceiling fan in the bedroom. There was a problem that emanated from the faulty file from the security business that prevented them from making a key card for our room and necessitated the desk clerk coming to open the door for us to get in. The breakfast on Saturday could have been better as the eggs in the hot plate looked like more you would get from a mediocre MickeyD’s.
- 2/5
I like the hotel, but the pool was not in use.
- 4/5
Good restaurants nearby!! Pool was closed!
- 1/5
We’ve stayed at this hotel a couple of times over the years for my daughter’s sporting events. In the past (most recently a year ago) we never had any issues. This time however the issues were long. First and foremost the floor we were on was a non smoking floor, which had a sign upon exiting the elevator indicating this. However the smell of pot upon exiting the elevator and the room each time we exited was extremely overwhelming! I was traveling with my 80 year old mother and teenage daughter for a sporting event for 2 nights. There were only 2 luggage carriers - both of which were broken. The refrigerator was loud and the handle was ready to fall off. There was no TP holder in the bathroom, which appeared to be broken off the wall. Hotel seems to have poor management, maintenance and staff the seemed to be out of touch or simply doesn’t care - never had such a bad experience in a Hilton hotel. I don’t plan on staying here again next time or any other future visit.
- 3/5
I liked the hotel overall, but I did not like that on the morning I was to check out of my room there was no hot water, and I had to check out and travel without having had a shower.
- 1/5
Blood stain on sheet, not enough staff to accommodate needs, no number sign for room door, broken tiles in elevator, no AC in lobby, outside doors in the back out of order and hot breakfast not edible. Wont stay again.
- 3/5
Property needs a little work. Hot water went out for the entire property our first night there and wasn’t fixed until about 1pm the next day. Elevator was missing 2 tiles which was a trip hazard, back door and a couple washers were out of order. I think the new GM will get everything working, he seems like a go getter but is having to fix a lot of issues to make it great. It wasn’t all bad though but we got a refund and went to another hotel due to the hot water issues.
- 2/5
No hot water for showers or sinks for the whole hotel on Thursday morning at 7:00am. Also, at check-in the computers at the front desk weren’t working, causing a delay in getting into our room. TV’s in the room were glitchy. The receptionist was excellent and friendly, but management clearly isn’t doing what it needs to to keep the property updated.

For our visits to Fulton, Columbia, and Maple Lawn, we typically stay here. It's safe, quiet, and comfortable, and a good rate.

I select hotels, especially in big cities, based on free parking, free breakfast, indoor pool, comfort and price. The breakfast was good. Nice room. Lots of out-of-order signs. Indoor pool, in room dishwasher, several exterior key entrance doors, laundry machine, etc. Lots of broken tiles in the elevators. Staff was nice but must be short-staffed as we had to wait 15 minutes to checkin after front desk person was carrying lightbulbs. Bed linens were strange as I thought I was sleeping under a thin mattress pad instead of a comforter, but that was the norm with my co-workers room as well. His “comforter” had a stain.Good to have hotel near my conference. Kitchenettes were not stocked evenly as I had to share utensils with me co-worker since his room was lacking forks and knives. I would stay again but worry if amount of maintenance issues, including a very green pool and littered parking lot, will be mounting to point of discomfort. Hotels should update websites and guests before or at arrival of closed pools.

I was disappointed to pay for a Homewood suites utilities and got none. Very bare home utility, one little pot, a few spoons and forks. No good size flat plates or bowls. The poorest I have experienced in the hotel suites setup. Broken elevator tiles that lets in the high heels of female shoes. It was a miracke I didn't fall.Stove burner wouldn't turn off. It took a follow up call 24 ĥours later for it to be turned, very deplorable and dangerous

Whenever we stay at this hotel we always seem to have problems accessing the internet. There seem to be a lot of loitering in the back parking lot which made us and our vehicle were vulnerable. The breakfast was basic but, reasonable. The carpeting in the hallway and the tile in the elevators appear well worn and tired.

This would have to be the worst stay I’ve had in a while. Jumping straight into the room, the room was not clean at all. The was dirt, stains, hair, juice spills in the floor walls, and furniture. There was tiny pieces of glass on the carpet which my toddler accidentally stepped on. The TV is the bedroom did not work. Food particles was still on the dishes from the previous guest. This stay was not it at all.

I liked the whole facility. I loved the gym!! I didn’t like how small the bathtub was and that the pool was closed.

TV was not working. No hair dryer and when I asked the front desk was no help. The lady was not able to offer any assistance.

My stay wasn’t the greatest. The swimming pool was closed down. Had issues with our tv not working called the front desk they would not answer. Had to go down from the 6th floor to ask the front desk person for help with the tv not working. She did not know how to help and said someone would be up shortly to fix it. No one showed up to fox the tv therefore only had one station to watch. At checkout the attendant was notified of all these issues and said she would talk to her manager to give me a discount and get in touch with me within the next day. No one yet has to contact me to issue my discount. At that was since last Friday! Very disappointed in their customer service.

We were there on Christmas Eve/Christmas Day. The staff were happy and kind to us and extra patient. It felt like family.

Hotel was clean and neat. Some signs of aging with the fixtures and decor but overall a good value for a nights stay. Service was great and efficient.

My son and I were on a trip for a sports tournament. We dropped her belongings off and went to dinner. When we arrived back at the hotel we found a cockroach running all over the air conditioner, which had been turned on before we left. I called down and they moved our room at midnight. The next room we got had a broken, pull out, sofa, bed so I had to share my bed because it was so late and we had to wake up early in the morning for the tournament. In the morning we discovered that the shower door would not close so you had to take a shower with the door open about 8 inches because it would not go past that point. Then the toilet kept running and would only flush when I wanted to. The manager wanted to move us again and offered a One Night refund. We were staying two nights. After speaking with some of our team parents, they decided to move hotels. Some people were given a full refund based on what I was dealing with when they went to the manager to complain (mostly the cockroach), but I was given a one day refund and told by the manager, “I’m not refunding for things that are out of my control. If you want to dispute it, then dispute it.” Also, the internet was out the entire time so the tv’s did not work either.

This room was run down and dirty. The breakfast was good, and it was nice to have extra space. But I would not stay there again. The TVs did not work. The thermostat was falling off the wall.
