Reviews
The hotel is in a great location with easy access to Fremont Street, but many guests complain about the noise from the street and the casino. The staff is generally friendly and helpful, but there are issues with room cleanliness and maintenance.

The worst room ever. I was told I would go to the newer portion - there was literally no air conditioner - the bed was horrible. Worst stay I've ever had in vegas

A good price on the room and a decently maintained property (opened in 1906). It is the oldest Hotel in Las Vegas, so some aspects of the basic designed have not changed but, it has been remodeled. For me the issues started when checking into my room. The side of the Hotel that they gave me a room key for faces the "Freemont Street Experience". If you aren't familiar with it, it can be fun for some. Not so much for others. Right outside my 3rd floor window was a bandstand with a D.J. playing rock music. I measured the sound level with an app on my phone @90 decibles inside my room. That's the equivalent of someone driving a motorcycle through my room at 60 miles an hour, sustained for the whole time I lay on the bed trying to get some rest. It was so loud that the headboard on the bed was vibrating with the base guitar and drums in the music. I was told by the front desk it would be like that until 2am when it would stop. I requested another room (non- smoking / I have asthma). "Sorry I was told. We're all sold out. If you want you can come down to the front desk & we can give you some ear plugs". Really??? That was the answer? The ear plugs were ineffective even with a pillow over my head. They were not willing to give me another room unless I spent another $120 over and above what I had already paid. I finally accepted the smoking room. I will not be staying at the Golden Gate again. My lungs still hurt.

Very clean and well maintained historic hotel. Air conditioning was fantastic and kept the room cool even in +95f temperatures. It would have been nice to have a fridge and coffee maker but not having those seems typical in Las Vegas. I would definitely stay here again.

The access to the Circa pool was nice and convenient. Our room was right next to the Fremont Street Experience Main Stage and the windows were 50 year old single pane glass. Even with the windows and curtains closed it was like we were front row for each and every concert. The music went until 2am on the first night and even later the second night. We asked to change rooms and were unable to, they offered ear plugs but were out of them originally. They called us back like 3 hours later saying they had more earplugs. That side of the hotel rooms should have some type of disclaimer when you book them saying that it will be impossible to sleep because of the noise until about 3am. Some people I am sure would be fine with that but not me.

I think the hotel needs to be updated or I'm just more comfortable with larger rooms. This room was so tiny. Also when we got there they didn't have one of the rooms I had asked for so they gave me a different one and had to leave it in the morning or else I would have to pay $20 extra.

The bathroom is equally compact. The shower measures roughly 2x2 square feet, making it one of the tightest I've encountered in Vegas. Turning around or bending over without elbowing the walls is a challenge What really made the stay difficult was the noise. I was on the 2nd floor, and it felt like I was sleeping directly on top of a nightclub. The bass from the music downstairs traveled straight through the walls and floor all night long

Young lady staff was nice. 1. The room was small, so small the bathroom door doesn't open all the way. 2. The bathroom vent, or lack there of... so water was dripping from ceiling... scary 3. LOUD music, depending on where your room is located... will be up ALL night... I think the music stopped at 2am... I get its las vegas... but I had stuff early next morning... 4. Positive note.. nice young lady front desk... 5. The parking was confusing... but once you know where its at... only way is to be on the right side... no left option. 6. Dirty staind towels, that were Clean... glad I checked before using... went out and bought my own when I saw this..

Was really surprised how clean and nice this old casino was. Easy stay, easy check in, right on Fremont. It was perfect! And only $50 deposit per day! Was much better than the usual $200-$300…!

Pros: Convenient access to the Fremont Street Experience Most staff were very helpful Well placed for where we needed to go Cons: Quite a bit of confusion parking — valets and hotel staff don’t communicate One valet attendant was rude and couldn’t be bothered Close proximity made loud music noise difficult for sleeping Casino was very smoky Expense was far greater than staying at the Strip Overall: You get what you pay for. Location is the main selling point, but expect noise, smoke, and premium pricing. Bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.

If you are looking for Las Vegas nostalgia in a clean place without breaking the bank, then Golden Gate is the place to stay. My wife and I have stayed here a number of times and have never had a bad experience. It can be loud so either join the party or bring some earplugs or a white noise machine if you go to bed before the bands wrap up at 2 AM. But why would you go to bed before that while you're in Vegas anyway?
- 3/5

I payed for 2 nights and only stay there for one night and went to another hotel and paid.
- 3/5
The room was clean but very dated and worn. The door to the bathroom only opened halfway because the toilet was in the way. A larger person may have trouble getting into and out of the bathroom. The tub/shower was in particularly poor shape. Finally, this is an area for partiers. If you like very loud music and Harleys driving up and down the street well into the middle of the night, this is your hotel.
- 5/5
Everything thank you ?
- 1/5
Very disappointed. I paid for a queen size bed and booked and paid for my room way in advance. Just to show up and get a tiny room with a twin bed. On my receipt it clearly showed I paid for a queen bed. I complained and asked for a partial refund cause obviously I didn’t get what I paid for and they wouldn’t budget. I don’t recommend this hotel at all

The room was so loud that it was literally shaking. The staff told us we could get a quieter room…for $120 more! Just steer clear of this one. You’ll sleep better

Upon arrival staff at valet were very friendly ! When checking in I was being “ helped “by Julula I believe ( JAY as she said she goes by ) that was extremely RUDE ! She kept on trying to pick up an argument with me for no reason about my reservation . Cinthia was on the other side and she stepped in to help and was extremely nice ! She explained everything that was included with my rooms like coupons and freebies .. We stayed at the 3rd floor ! They are old ( original ) not updated rooms . Rooms were clean. My biggest issue was the AC /HEATHER . You have no control whatsoever. Based on the small sign you either leave it on and get heat in the winter or cold in the summer . You can not change or adjust the temperature! My window was right on Fremont Street! So I had free shows all night long ( I have no sleeping issues ) but if you do , do not, do not stay in the 3rd floor !! I had full show access thru my window . Everything else was “ OK”

The staff was nice, valet and security were super friendly. Language barrier with the front desk but we got it squared away no issue. The room however had issues. There was no access to drinking water in the rooms. Although they do have vending machines which i did use, there was no water as an option in the machine. We did purchase food from the vending machine only to see it was expired once we retrieved it. The room was also warm and we wanted to turn on the a/c but there was a message on the thermostat saying it only blew warm air. Room is small which isn't the worst, but there is no simple accommodations like a coffe maker, fridge, or bottled water available. The worst part is you could hear rodents running throughout the inner walls of the room and ceiling. That was the most off putting part of the experience.

The staff at the casino/hotel are friendly and personable. Valet parking is free for hotel guests. And as a guest you get benefits to the ultra trendy Circa hotel/casino right across the way. That’s a plus. The one drawback to room 221 is it is built over the casino speaker system. Two of our three early mornings were spent listening to the bumb of house music. Not sure why the casino doesn’t turn the music down, or to a mellower beat from 4-9 am. It’s unfair to not notify any guest checking into that room of this issue. However it didn’t ruin our time, or experience, and we will be happy to return to the Golden Gate again.

The casino/hotel is old, stating this year is the 120th anniversary (1906-2026)! The rooms are small but for somewhere I wasn’t at much, this was not an issue. This is a sister property to the Circa and included access to Stadium swim. Was able to soak in the warm water and watched the NFL playoff games! Overall, had a great time!

The room's air is too hot which created the an uncomfortable environment, therefore we ended up leaving a day early because of it.

There is no such thing as the family room!! This casino is right next to a stage that does rock music all night!! It is insanely loud. This place is old and is the worst

It’s an older hotel… so rooms are small and show wear and tear… the biggest issue is how hot and stuffy the rooms are. No fan or air to turn on… I got a “quiet” room,.. no such thing. The noise and music from Freemont street is so loud! It’s like you don’t have walls… luckily I can sleep through most anything once I’m tired enough.

Room was clean, all staff were absolutely terrific, they all performed efficiently and were friendly! Very helpful when we had questions. We booked this place due to the location to a festival we were in town for. The location was perfect and we also booked this room for the free parking.

We enjoyed our state very much. The room was clean and the staff were very nice but if you need a lot of space in a room this is not for you. We stayed in one of the standard guest rooms. The only negative I would call out is the size of the room and bathroom. If you are someone who likes a lot of room I would not recommend the standard room. The bed was a good size and was comfortable but there was only room for one night stand so if you have a need for two this will also not be the room for you. I sleep with a CPAP so a nightstand is a must for me. If my husband would have also had a CPAP we would have been in trouble. As this is an older hotel the door entrances are smaller than expected. The entrance into the bathroom is pretty narrow and it opens and hits the toilet. Walking in and out of the bathroom often did require turning sideways. There is enough room for only one person at a time in the bathroom. The other thing to note is that in a standard room you can't control the AC/Heat on your own. There is a thermostat in the room and the only thing you can really do is turn it on or off. The actually AC or heat designation is being controlled by centralized computer system. Our room got a little stuffy we discussed with the front desk and they send a fan up for us quickly. Everyone was so nice and we plan to stay again at the Golden Gate but will book a suite next time for a little extra room.

Love the history of the hotel, great location, clean room (but small), windows actually open. Room was a little warm with some difficulty cooling down. Staff was excellent. Not very sound proof and could hear a lot of activity inside other rooms as you’d walk down the hallway.

We stayed in a double bed room. Room was really clean and nice. As far as the hotel room goes 4 stars. But right after I had booked our room I seen they had pulled all the tables out of the casino and went to electronic machines. The casino was dead other than the happy hour for 1 hour. Compared to last year when it would be packed all evening. The hotel is definitely worth the money. But the casino side puts a damper on it for sure.
- 5/5
Con- no on-site food, only 2 luggage carts
- 5/5
Overall everything about the hotel was great. But, changes to the casino recently are ridiculous. No crap tables, no black jack, no dancers? The old school heritage the hotel has had for years is gone. I am very disappointed. I will consider staying somewhere else from now on.

room location was perfect with a Fremont street view and the staff was super friendly and helpful the whole time. highly recommend!
- 5/5
Historic, easy to navigate and convenient.
- 5/5
For the price, couldn’t beat Golden Gate! I’ve stayed at high end Vegas hotels and low end ones, and for just me for a few nights to hang with the boys it was perfect! Room and hotel were very clean, the staff was very helpful and accommodating and the amenities like free drink happy hour every night with free play credits for gaming was an added bonus. Also, the free access to Circa’s Stadium Swim was fantastic! Would stay here again!

NO HAndicapped parking. Valet you have to pay for . Free lot almost impossible to find. Not friendly employees - staff not helpful in finding free parking lot or getting you in & out of the lot that says $5 per hour !!!! Computers down almost impossible to check in. Took over 1/2 hr then checking out they try to tell you you haven’t paid & it’s another 1/2 hr to leave !!!

I miss the blackjack and craps table, but I loved my room and the staff was amazing! I think I found my new favorite spot to stay on Frremont Street.
- 5/5
The people at the front desk are very friendly
- 5/5
very clean and nice people
- 1/5
Room and hallways had distinct mildew/wet smell. The ac functioned only about half the time, and the noise from the hallway and other rooms was constant. Additional the price quoted on Expedia was not what I had to pay at the hotel
- 3/5
No coffee pot in room. Had to go to the bar every time for the COLD Coffee. Staff not pleasant at all. Room was in need of repairs.
- 4/5
Parking N/A for me.

Room was super small, above Fremont Street stage was loud, tv did not work
- 5/5

- 5/5
Small but clean room. It was right behind the Golden Gate sign facing Freemont. Def not a quiet room but I didnt mind.
- 3/5
Staff is really kind and helpful. The rooms are clean and cleaning crew on top of the work. I understood and knew the building is old but I want it that experience. For a short stay and for Vegas location is perfect wish I was able to attend the happy hour 6-7pm. Walking distance to everything that’s on Freemont Vegas!!
- 3/5
It was a surprise how Golden Gate-Circa -D are working hard to keep the Fremont alive. They are really keeping the area clean and more friendly. Very convenient location and definitely you are I. Party town. I just forgot that I am old and need to sleep and this is not the place for that. The Fremont music and sound keep going until late night.
- 1/5
Checking in I was notified that all double bed rooms face Fremont St and might be a little noisy. A LITTLE NOISY? The live music till 3 am shook the room windows with the bass line and at times vibrated my body in bed. This detail should really be a disclaimer when attempting to book the room NOT when you get there and already paid with no other rooms available. On a brighter note- the front desk desk and valet staff were the friendliest I have I had in Las Vegas.
- 4/5
Free entry to circa pool which was awesome. The bed and pillows weren't comfortable imo although my wife said ahe thought it was fine. Doorknob fell off in the bathroom but staff was responsive. Old hotel but that's part of its charm. Would stay here again.
- 5/5

They over charged me and they say they cant find my bathing suit i left there. There is nooo way they CANT find it. Im assuming they threw it away, thinking i wouldnt come back for it.

Staying in motel some time better
- 3/5
What I didn't like this time was the wifi didn't work so I couldn't plan the next couple of days. So it ruined everything. And I'm a senior citizen and I asked for a room as far away as Fremont street. Because it stays really really loud untell 2 am. But they gave me one close to it so I couldn't get to sleep untell after 2 pm. I normally say good things about any casino .even if it was ok. But not this time. It was a bad experience
- 5/5
From check in we have had great service! Very friendly staff, clean environment, our room was amazing!! We got the Jr suite it was stunning and right on Fremont Street! I had a great experience!!
- 5/5
It is the best value I have in a long time.
- 5/5
Golden Gate is our favorite place to stay on Freemont street
- 5/5

- 3/5
A/C is old and doesn't work well.
- 4/5
Very walkable to other casinos. Good bed and good shower too.
- 5/5
I was able to check in early and asked for a room away from some of the noise of Fremont Street - the front desk was very accommodating and helpful. I plan on staying at Golden Gate the next time I visit Vegas.

- 3/5
Check in staff was extremely rude. Room was old and very outdated. Overall probably will not return due to the check in service. The girl was very rude and the charges were not explained at check in.
- 3/5
The room was noisy. The bathroom door did not open all the way due to hitting the toilet.

- 5/5
It's was a weird little room, but i liked it. The place has history. Actually pretty quiet for being on Fremont. I don’t drink, but if i did, that bathroom step would be treacherous.
- 1/5
I paid the upgrade to the family room in one of our theee rooms we had The only difference was from the regular rooms is there was three lamps instead of two lamps extremely tiny room about maybe 12‘ x 12‘ and when I asked for the difference of the room that I paid more for they questioned me and said they wanted to see what we booked on Expedia and I had to email the manager the invoice from Expedia then he comes back with this room that had literally three lamps instead of two not to mention it took over 30 minutes to check in if you’re a single person the room is maybe OK but if you have a couple no way stay here way too small rooms and the front desk staff manager was absolutely not helpful at all by questioning me for lying about me paying for an upgraded room and then they give us a room with three lamps. It’s ridiculous. If I didn’t have two other people stay in there I would’ve went somewhere else. I’m a platinum member on Expedia. I stay in a lot of rooms. This was by far the worst. I wish I could’ve got our money back.
- 5/5
Legendary hotel. Friendly staff, always ready to help. Convenient to so much downtown has to offer. Pool access at Circa!
- 4/5
Very comfortable atmosphere and the room was small but cozy!!

Shower magical. ;)
- 5/5
Great hotel. Would go there again
- 5/5
Close to everything
- 4/5
Didnt even stay in the room. It was SUPER tiny and awkward.. like smallest room ive ever been in for sure.
- 3/5
I didn’t expect them to be small. But the staff was really sweet.
- 5/5
Rooms were clean with a firm, but comfortable bed. Small, simple & affordable. Desk Staff was extremely friendly & helpful. Smooth check-in. The main benefit for us is access to the Cirra Pool across from Golden Gate. We will definitely stay there again.
- 5/5
Not many food options past midnight. The bed was springy and sometimes uncomfortable.
- 5/5
Great for the one looking for something basic, nothing fancy but works really good. The bed is nice, the shower have a good space.
- 5/5
Very Nice
- 2/5
When they checked us in they warned that there would be street noise from Fremont street. We said we understood and it was ok. But that was an understatement. The walls and windows were rattling and booming because of the stage below our room. The noise was so loud I couldn’t drown it out with the television, or wearing my AirPods to bed.
- 5/5
I booked on short notice, and the process was quick and reasonably priced. I chose this hotel for its history, and it didn’t disappoint. At check-in, we were offered a historic room from the original property—a thoughtful touch. The space kept its old-world character while delivering modern comforts, which made the stay easy and enjoyable. As Golden Gate guests, having access to Stadium Swim at Circa was a great bonus and really rounded out a fantastic visit.
- 4/5
Beside the fact the room was over Fremont street (loud till 3am) it was a great room with great entertainment from the room.
- 2/5
It was hard to find the free parking for this hotel and there were unexpected fees even after the website said fees included. In addition it was noisy so hard to sleep plus the room was small and seems outdated.
- 5/5
Fast and friendly service
- 5/5
Loved my room! Staff was friendly and helpful. Close to lots of food and entertainment.
- 5/5
Definitely get the suite. The regular room we were offered was barely bigger than the Queen size bed and felt outdated, but very clean. The suite was an upgraded price, but reasonably priced.
- 2/5
The staff was very kind and helpful. Unfortunately the room was very dated and small. That could have been overlooked but it also had a very strong smoke smell. Unfortunately, I will choose to stay somewhere else on my next visit.
- 5/5
Erica! She was so awesome. We were checked in fast, free parking, walkable, great breakfast across the street. Erica, you are great at what you do.
- 5/5
The suite is very good size, clean, big TV, it’s across the Circa
- 4/5
Loved how clean the room and bedding was. Hard to find these days! Room was a bit smaller than expected, and older. But very well taken care of still
- 5/5
I liked everything the property was great.
- 5/5
The best deal around, walking distance to everything and very convenient.
- 1/5
For our 10th anniversary it was bad. But we can expect month from the golden gate.
- 5/5
Have never been disappointed staying at the Golden Gate.
- 5/5
The room was compact but perfect for a solo traveler. Will stay here again 100%
- 4/5
Very clean comfortable bed 👍
- 5/5
Check in was very easy Great accommodation
- 5/5
Great service, quick check in, parking was easy and convenient.
- 1/5
When we brought this to the hotel staffs attention I was told "We don't assign rooms until you check in. And we'll make sure to send maintenance in the morning to address your concerns." Great, we check out in the morning. I'm so glad they can fix the AC for the next guest and leave us miserable. And all of this mess cost us 87$ for this show closet and a 45$ for a resort charge. The word is simple stay somewhere else. The staff, minus Erica at the desk, was rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful. To say they didn't care about us or our issue would be under selling their response. They couldn't have shown they didn't care any more clearly. In the morning when we re-raised our issues my spouse was told I smiled and was excited to stay in a twin. As a 49 year old man that loves his spouse I can tell you I had no excitement to cram onto a twin bed with my partner. The managment they suck
- 5/5
Fun hotel fun bartenders fun dealers the dancers are great the people at the front desk are awesome the room itself was okay my air conditioner didn't work that well so it was a little hot overheated but it was close to Fremont right on Fremont Street so it was perfect and I'm really have to stay in the room anyway thank you for everything and happy anniversary Boyd.
- 5/5
Great little place to stay. Nothing fancy but the staff was nice and the casino was very vibrant with a lot of energy. Just walk out and you’re in Freemont which is cool.
- 3/5
Old . Having second thought of transferring to a better hotel, I had a hard time using the toilet I don’t know if I’m gonna set with the toilet bowl or what . The room has no window to open just a structure cannot be open
- 3/5
1) no outlets in the bathroom 2) no coffee maker in the room 3) ridiculous resort fees for absolutely nothing.
- 5/5
Wall was coming off and bathroom was old. Soap was poor quality. But we really enjoyed our stay there and staff was nice.
- 5/5
Love the free valet. Those guys are always nice
- 3/5
Overall the staff and experience were great but I must say I might as well have been trying to sleep on Fremont street, it was so noisy in my room. My hotel room was bumping from the noise outside until they shut it down at 2am.
- 2/5
The staff was really nice. The rooms are just wayyyy too outdated!
- 4/5
Great except for a leak forced a room change.
- 2/5
Upon my check in, I was not allowed to bring my golf travel bag with me to my room. Staff informed me that it was in their hotel policy online in their website. No such information was found online regarding golf travel bags. I was told that it was oversized, oversized bags were not allowed in the room for safety purposes. Not happy to be informed of this upon my arrival. If this was made clear to me online when i registered, i would not have stayed there. Rather sour taste in my mouth because of this practice.
- 3/5
The room was very outdated. Bathroom was very old and small! The room’s a/c is controlled by the temperature outside which was bad for us because it was super hot and stuffy in the room and we had to ask for a fan from the hotel staff. But we did love the fact that we got to get in free to circa’s stadium swim and it was literally across the way from it!
- 4/5
Exactly what I expected. Older property but when all you want is a place to sleep it’s perfect. Ty Mr Steven’s.
- 5/5
Valet is awesome!! Location is #1
- 5/5
Right in the heart of Fremont. Clean hotel, very convenient. Next to the ABC store. Next to the stage, so if loud noise is an issue for you don’t choose a hotel on Fremont.
- 5/5
I loved that it’s has original windows from 1906. The view from my room was beautiful when the sun went down and all the casino lights came on especially because we were on the 3rd floor! I stayed 2 night and it was 282 with 90$ hotel fee and 100$ deposit that you receive back automatically after check out! DEFINITELY WOULD LOVE TO STAY THERE AGAIN ESPECIALLY THAT ROOM!
- 4/5
Cool art-deco style hotel in the heart of Fremont street. The hotel is small, but that makes for easy parking/check-in. Room was a bit small, but not in Vegas to hang out in room.
- 4/5
on fremont street. the place to stay.
- 5/5
Overall a great stay!
- 4/5

- 5/5
Great location! A lil old but still very cool
- 4/5
I enjoyed my stay
- 3/5
The entertainment options were limited to a few movies you have to pay for. I should have been able to log into my own streaming services. The room was not well lit for working.
- 5/5
Good and clean room.
- 3/5
The rooms are not updated. Good customer service, nice location
- 4/5
The rooms along Fremont street experience will keep you up till 2am
- 5/5
I had a wonderful time there. Checking in was easy. Check out was easy. Easy walk to where I need to go everyone friendly and safe
- 5/5
The room was perfect for our visit, would stay again!
- 5/5
I loved the history around the property
- 5/5
I like the location. Very convenient and fun

Awesome old school hotel and casino on Fremont st
- 4/5

- 5/5
It was great. I love the suites they have here
- 1/5
I would never come back. The room is so tiny and it smells. It is very very old. I checkedin and immediately booked another hotel
- 5/5
Gregory at the front desk was awesome!
- 2/5
You need to pay for your bottled water while other hotels they give it for you free.
- 5/5
overal the stay was very nice.
- 3/5
Tiny rooms. The sheets weren’t changed. We found crumbs when we pulled the blankets back. There was no food options in the casino area for late night dining
- 5/5
Always a good deal.
