Reviews
The El Cortez Hotel is generally well-liked for its friendly staff, clean rooms, and convenient location near Fremont Street. However, noise levels, particularly on weekends, are a common complaint. Guests also appreciate the hotel's history and vintage feel, but some find the rooms and facilities dated and in need of updates.
- Friendly staff and excellent customer service
- Convenient location near Fremont Street and other attractions
- High noise levels, particularly on weekends
- Some rooms and facilities are dated and in need of updates

Overall my stay was, okay. The room itself needed a good vacuuming and had to ask front desk to have the maids give it a run through. When I turned on the hot water it immediately squirted brown water. It’s not the greatest but it’s good nonetheless. The location is prime and has pretty great deals. I would not stay in the Cabana suite and pay a little extra to stay in the remodeled rooms. Staff are helpful and kind.
- 3/5
Room was clean but very loud street noise.
- 4/5
Great location
- 4/5
Clean room staff was nice my only complaint was i was in the outside rooms and the noise from Fremont was loud until 330 am every night otherwise nice place
- 4/5
Stayed two nights. Great stay if you’re looking within a budget! If super fancy updates are your style then you might want to stay somewhere else but we were perfectly satisfied. Starbucks on site was a big bonus! Our rooms were located by the parking garage which was very convenient. Beds were firm but comfy. Pillows were soft. While super hot outside the room stayed nice and cool. Would stay again.
- 1/5
Never again will I stay there
- 5/5
Staff takes care of us throughout our stay. Easy access to casino.
- 5/5
Had a great stay and the rooms were very nice.
- 4/5
It was a very nice hotel, sweet staff
- 5/5
The whole staff was amazing. Tony the bellman stands out for his professional courtesy and positive attitude. We had a smile on our faces from check in to check out. Checking in we felt special. And the young lady who took care of us was polite and attentive. Magical experience! Thank you so much!
- 5/5
Always a great stay
- 3/5
Room was much like a motel 6. Was not what photo showed. Room cleaner came at 830am both days even with do not disturb sign in door. Staff was phenomenal. Just not experience I was hoping for.Tried going new place.
- 4/5
Ok
- 5/5
.
- 5/5
Was a great stay for a little getaway the staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
Nice bar, decent food. I prefer being on the end of Freemont due to the noise. The only downside is the A/C could barely keep up with the 106 degree temp, and it was loud. Great hotel to airport shuttle. I've stayed before and I would stay again
- 3/5
Major complaint is the hotel is directly across the street from a rocking night club that will keep you up until 2am. I know it’s Vegas but this was very annoying.
- 3/5
The room was dirty looked more like they rushed cleaning service. Other than that great place.
- 5/5
It was a great beautiful experience
- 5/5
The El Cortez is a small, by Vegas standards, boutique hotel. The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. The property is older but they seem to be making updates. It is very convenient to go from room to casino- no 96 floors with a zillion elevators. It is not the typical posh Vegas Strip hotel, but it is small friendly with a casino whose slots are much looser than in the larger places.
- 2/5
Food bad bad bad would not eat There ever again
- 5/5
Stay in the towers unless you’re going to be out all night. Our original booking had us down by Fremont St, it was a great experience once lol. But the staff was happy to move us to another room on night two. Very nice staff.
- 5/5
Big room. Had all needed amenities. Very clean. Loved my stay.
- 5/5
Staff is very friendly. I love the nice old school atmosphere. I will return for sure, but I will stay at the main building instead of the cabanas, to avoid the need to walk to a different building.
- 5/5
We will definitely stay there again.
- 3/5
Vouchers are a joke- ‘dining’ certificate is for a hot dog cart, and free machine play is only on certain ones ( seems sketchy)
- 5/5
Such a cool old casino with charm. I love the history. Check in was easy and staff was helpful and friendly. Room was clean and bed comfortable. This was my first time at this hotel and it did not disappoint. There were many slot games available and drinks offered while playing. We also ate at the Eureka restaurant and it was delicious. It was 106 and the air conditioner was our friend. While it was a bit noisy it did not affect a good night sleep. I would book a room here again. We had a regular 2 bed non smoking room. Next time I would like to get a cabana room.
- 1/5
Stains on the sheets and mold on the shower head. Also dirt underneath the wall AC unit. Ended up staying at virgin hotel which felt like an apartment that was just made and everything was cleaner there.
- 4/5
Room was okay. AC worked great! Smelt really musty is several areas of the casino. We played slots for an hour and could not get anyone to wait on us. Finally had to track someone down. Not sure what the “resort fee” is for since no pool or any other amenities.
- 5/5
Staff was amazing!!!
- 4/5
n/a thank you for everything we had a lot of fun.
- 4/5
The non smoking snelled like smoke & was 3x’s the price. Oh and there were used towels in it. I told the same non friendly staffer and she could care less… The rest of the staff from my second checkin rep(last name Ventura) all the bartenders at “the lounge,” & valets were nothing less than AMAZEBALLS!!! Customer service is EVERYTHING to me, as I too work in a customer service based industry. If it wasn’t for them, i probably would have moved hotels! Thank you to all of the servers that made my trip & I hope the tips showed my appreciation!
- 5/5
Staying at the El Cortez just makes you feel like you belong in Vegas! Considering moving here permanently! Thanks El Cortez!!!
- 5/5
Best slots. Best tables. Comfortable beds. Nice staff. Hot noods! Great location. Fun atmosphere. Best brats and dogs. Always love my time at the El Cortez, and I always come back for more. Legendary!
- 5/5
I just love staying at this casino. Everything is clean and everyone is so nice. Lots of fun
- 4/5
Staff was really friendly and we enjoyed our first visit to Las Vegas staying at the El Cortez
- 5/5
Is a good place to stay for the money
- 1/5
We traveled several hours to Vegas that morning and came to check in at 2:00pm. When we arrived we were given a room just as we booked on the 8th floor. Once in the room we noticed the toilet did not flush, the bathroom sink had no water. We immediately called for maintenance to come. The guy came 45mins later saying he had to walk far to get the part he needed. We left to go explore and came back 2 hours later with no repairs fixed. We called firm stairs again and were told they would be there shortly. We began to get ready for the Wedding we were attending and left. When we returned at 11:30pm we still had unfinished maintenance concerns. We could tell they came back but left a huge mess and no notes or no calls from the hotel. We called again and they advised it was a new shift and they were sending someone else up help us. He came right away but stated the front desk would have to move us in the middle of the night. It took two hours until 2:45am to get us moved after we called 5 times and keep getting the run around from the front desk crew who stated they were being harassed and filmed by and upset customer. She refused to send up the new keys to us and stated we would have to go downstairs in our pjs to grab them. No manager to talk to. Finally and had the bell man bring them after a long conversation. Were we finally get to the new room we were hit with a smoking filled room. We asked them to move us and she stated they had no other rooms available.
- 3/5
Great location!! Staff friendly and helpful!! The section I was in is older and well used but clean. The only downfall is very noisy at night with the festivities outside had to wear earplugs
- 5/5
Nights can be a bit loud due to the nightclubs literally right outside, being tired enough won’t bother you 😁 thanks to the incredibly nice staff
- 5/5
Overall, a 5 of 5 experience!
- 2/5
It was a terrible stay The rooms were dirty. No toiletries were in the rooms. Floors were dirty. Tables were filthy. Never stay there again.
- 5/5
Nice Place And Clean
- 5/5
Is old but good and very functional
- 3/5
Did not know that the rooms are in open space vs enclosed. Very loud noise of music and could not sleep.
- 5/5
Liked the location. The casino and the staff were awesome!
- 3/5
I included a pic of the room to show the position of the light. This was before we departed in the DAY with the door open. The room lightening was not adequate at night. Plus: beds were comfortable and the wi-fi worked.
- 5/5
Room was nice and clean and staff were friendly and helpful! Very close to Fremont street. Would stay there again!
- 5/5
Love the location. Has what we need. Will be back soon.
- 1/5
I would like to start by saying there needs to be a faster way for checking in, slowest check in, in Vegas by far. 2nd of all, I got to my room late at night with a bug infested room! It wasn’t only mine but my family member’s which were next door. When I went to the front desk to see if they could change me to the main tower they refused and changed us rooms that were down the hallway. Spend a whole hour trying to move rooms and while I was disputing it with the front desk, a bed-bug came out my shoe. Truly disgusting. I’m not the type to be picky at all or leave negative reviews but this incident happened a month ago and nothing has been done about it. I was really looking forward to El Cortez and now I’ll never be coming back to this hotel.
- 3/5
Having a microwave in a hotel as big as this is very essential. Thanks
- 5/5
Room was upgraded for free & was such a nice room. Casino was very nice.
- 5/5
Clean room and likes the casino floor.
- 5/5
Buena ubicación, el estaff muy atentos. Su servicio de traslado al aeropuerto excelente.
- 2/5
Once we got to the non-smoking room we smelled an odor that we chalked up to cleaning products. We left the room to gamble a little and when we returned the smell was worse. We stuck it out. About 3:00 AM I woke up practically choking on what turned out to be marijuana smoke. It was bad. I called the front desk and we were told that someone must have been smoking outside our room in the hallway. I checked and there was no smoke outside our room. It was like it was being pumped into our room. Being elderly and fearing for our health we requested a different room. So they sent Security officers to the room and they were surprised how bad the smell was. I was escorted to the front desk and was given a different room. When we went to check out a few hours later my wife and I agreed that we would ask for compensation. The person at the front desk said that would waive the amenities fee that (that we didn't know about in the first place). We felt we deserved more compensation for the inconvenience of having to move so early in the morning and for the potential risk to our health. She said she couldn't do anything more and we asked to talk to the manager. We tried to explain the situation and request for a refund but he just kept talking, it was bazaar how he kept talking, like he was programmed like a robot. We looked at each other in amazement, and decided we would never return.
- 5/5
El Cortez was a very nice place to stay. We had FREE parking, yeah! Everything was clean and tidy with and the amenities were just right.
- 5/5
Staff were very friendly, ready to help. If you like the Fremont Street area, you are literally 1 block away. Nice touch with the Quarter coin return slots.
- 2/5
I love the Fremont area, I would stay at the D next time for about same price
- 1/5
Called the hotel, they were full, but then said they had an original 47 room available but it would be just as loud. So, spent money on a room that was basically unusable for the function of sleeping. I was refunded the "amenity fee" of $30, but not even an apology. When I ask why they assign those rooms knowing it's loud, I was told by the on duty manager they give those rooms to the people who book 3rd party like Expedia. I asked for the general manager to give me a call, but I doubt that'll happen. Avoid this place to stay.
- 1/5
- 5/5
Always am excellent experience here at the El Cortez hotel. Will definitely be back for more!
- 1/5
Room smelt like cigarettes and the room was not clean! There was blood on the sheets and cigarette burn holes on the blankets. Would not come back. They charge a refundable deposit for not smoking in the room but the room already smells like smoke! Horrible horrible.
- 1/5
The air conditioning unit was broken. It would not turn off. We froze.
- 1/5
At first glance, the room looks like the run of the mill Vegas hotel. My husband and I weren’t in the room much and came in late at night/early in the morning and went to bed. When we woke up to see what our plans were I noticed a small bug crawling in the sheets. I thought it might have been a bug that came in on clothes from walking Fremont the night before. Then when we came back to change clothes, I saw more. They were bed bugs! My husband called the front desk and spoke to a manager. We had to give a statement about the bed bugs (when, where, and how they were noticed). We immediately left after this. I felt disgusted and dirty knowing I slept in a bed with bed bugs. I would definitely avoid booking the cabanas.
- 2/5
If you are staying at this hotel do not, I repeat do not stay in the PAVILION ROOMS. The room of course was run down compared to the pictures. I was woken up every other hour to the neighbor swinging their door to the wall as if they were trying to make it come off the hinges. Seemed as if the wall mounted tv and picture frames was going to fall off the wall of how hard they were throwing their door into my wall. It was so bad I was only able to sleep 2 hrs before having enough and left in the middle of the night.
- 5/5
Very nice staff
- 5/5
Todo estuvo bien
- 3/5
I had to have them come clean the room when we first got there because it was gross. Then we had to have them come back a second time because he found toe nails on the rug and the floor. They cleaned that up but cleaned nothing else up. We had to ask for more towels and cups.
- 5/5
no complaints. Everything was very nice.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly upon arrival. Casino was exactly what my group and I were looking for for the stay. All was great!
- 5/5
It was ok, shower could have been cleaned
- 4/5
Nice hotel!
- 5/5
Have not stood here in a long time. New renovation looks great. Room was very clean and well maintained. Easy check in. Staff was great and friendly
- 1/5
We didn’t get to see the room we were not let in to check in and then told they can’t refund us because we checked in; untrue statement. Very bad experience . The reception entry site also not nice and not clean and reception crew not very helpful.
- 1/5
Didn’t get to make it to the hotel due to an emergency
- 5/5
Stayed here during edc weekend! I was able to check in right away considering I was really early. The lady in the front that helped me was so sweet and kind and got me settled in. The valet guys are amazing as well! And let’s not forget the bellman! Shout out to the older gentlemen that helped us with all our luggage and things. Housekeepers were also sweet and kind and gave us towels and toilet paper when we asked. I definitely would stay here again. The only thing I was bummed about is they didn’t have a pool. But everything was walking distance and close to the venue!
- 1/5
The room was disgusting. the bathroom had mold and carpet was dirty and not vacuumed. the sheets were stained. Extra pillows were requested, but not delivered.
- 5/5
We stayed at the cabanas Loved our room very clean and comfy. The staff was very friendly& very helpful with our luggage & having a cabanas outside was a BIG PLUS!!
- 4/5
Service could have been better, despite our being out of the room for 7 hours, they didn't get to our room for the daily made service. Had to hunt down coffee refills. Requested Kleenex refill never happened. One of the elevators was out of order but free parking was a great amenity. Overall good. Mostly due to the room quality and the location. Love the history of the place and some architectural details are still intact.
- 5/5
There was a shuttle service to the airport. Take advantage of it.
- 5/5
Great
- 4/5
Only downside was there was no elevator to the second floor we carried our bags
- 1/5
An employee came into my room without knocking at 4am in the middle of the night
- 5/5
Affordable, staff was great, can't beat the location. Will stay here again
- 5/5
Great location clean and tidy did the job
- 4/5
The room was clean, the room was comfortable. The staff was friendly. A good stay for vegas
- 4/5
Breakfast was limited to Starbucks on property, but delicious options were nearby. Actually, needed to go off property for most things. However, the historic feel was real and the staff was fantastic. If you want a pool, this property is not for you. Easy walking to the Fremont experience.
- 5/5
Clean rooms and being friendly
- 5/5
The room was very nice and spacious! I would definitely stay here again! And I love that they provide a refrigerator in the room
- 5/5
Clean room, nice AC, friendly staff
- 5/5
George at your front desk was great!! Told us a little about the history of the casino and just helpful getting us where we needed to go.
- 5/5
Overall the best accomodations at the best prices
- 5/5
Overall a great place to stay at.
- 4/5
The casino feels weird, smells like an old hotel
- 2/5
Felt dirty, blinds let too much light in, lots of noise, good luck figuring out how to get the right temperature in the shower because it's counter intuitive and we found hair in it. It looks good from far but gar from good. Employees seemed annoyed.
- 1/5
I HAVE STAYED AT ELCORTEZ ABOUT 7 DIFFERENT TRIPS I TOOK TO VEGAS, I ALWAYS HAVE LOVE STAYING THERE,BUT THIS LAST TRIP FOR MY MOTHERS DAY WAS HORRIBLE, WAITRESSES WAS RUDE,STAFF WAS RUDE AIR BARELY WORKING,AND MORE I CARE NOT TO DISCUSS, I HAVE ALWAYS CHOSE YOUR CASINO OVER EVERYWHERE ELSE,BUT THAT WAS MY LAST TIME I WILL BE BACK IN JULY BUT I WONT STAY THERE SORRY BUT I FEEL VERY UNAPPRECIATED AS A CONTINUOUS CUSTOMER
- 5/5
Enjoyed my first stay at the EL Cortez in Downtown Las Vegas. We stayed in the Cabana Suites. Our room was very clean and comfortable. All the staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful. My only… I guess you could call “compliments”… I wish our room had a little better, brighter lighting, and maybe a microwave. Otherwise, we had a great stay and can’t wait to stay again. Maybe in the Tower rooms or in one of The Original 47.
- 5/5
Convenient place to stay near Fremont Street. The casino provided everything downstairs between food, drinks, gambling, easy access to Fremont. Only 1 elevator working to gain access to main hotel room floors but wasn't an issue for me. Was kind of a walk between the parking garage with luggage/ bags to hotel room however. Housekeeping was also hit or miss with services with my 7 day stay there.
- 4/5
There was only one elevator working but the wait time for the working elevator was not to long. We gad a room in the south tower and you can hear the music from the outside activity in the room, recommend you bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. We used the shuttle service to go back to the airport and it was very convenient and the driver was great. Will stay here again next time we go back to Vegas.
- 5/5
I liked the coin video poker machines! There was not enough of them to play later in the evening so had to explore other casinos.
- 5/5
The El Cortez is absolutely the best place to stay in Vegas. The staff is amazing, the location cannot be beat, and the prices are good. The absolute only thing I can complain about is the resort fees, but that is what it is. Even with those, the El Cortez is my place to stay, and I have already stayed there three separate times in the last 5 months for 5-7 nights each.
- 5/5
Was very clean and the service perfect👌
- 5/5
This was our 3rd stay. Clean comfortable large updated rooms. Great staff. Can’t wait to stay again!
- 3/5
Shuttle works only to the airport, and very short time
- 5/5
This is a great casino/hotel. The history alone makes it worth it. Price is exceptional and you are close to everything downtown
- 5/5
Rooms were nice & clean Reservation greeting was excellent.I did not have breakfast at Hotel/ Casino No comp breakfast so I ate at Denny's down on Fremont street
- 5/5
Big updated comfortable rooms. Staff are friendly. Eureka restaurant food was good and nice atmosphere. 21 and older only appreciated! Best downtown hotel.
- 4/5
If this place had a pool it would be 5 out of 5 for those chilled hot recovering days.
- 5/5
Awesome place, will be back
- 4/5
Other than the meth pipe we found in the room, the hotel was pretty nice. We were pretty happy with it. Great location, too. It's on Fremont, so it's pretty loud at night. Otherwise we really enjoyed it.
- 5/5
Everything was great 👍
- 5/5
Everything as usual
- 5/5
I didn’t know they had breakfast
- 5/5
Room very clean but bed very uncomfortable
- 5/5
We had a great stay the staff was very helpful and friendly! Location was great, we love to try new places and would definitely return.
- 3/5
The room was not soundproof, we could hear the parties going on Fremont St. all night long.
- 4/5
Rooms were great ! They had no Pinot grigio or savagion blanc wine .The food was very limited .There was only one very small restaurant . Transfers were great! Location perfect and the smaller feel compared to other hotel made things easier with easy transport to uptown hotels .Fremont street was so close abd fun
- 5/5
The rooms in the tower have been completely renovated. Very clean, staff was very courteous and responded to all our needs timely.
- 5/5
The room was very clean - staff super friendly and helpful
- 5/5
Very clean and well maintained. Only issue was one elevator was down during our 4 day stay.
- 5/5
Excellent staff and decor.
- 3/5
Great
- 4/5
The carpet and fixtures were worn down. But clean and ok for the price paid
- 5/5
Had a good stay at El Cortez. Room was small but no complaints with that since we weren’t in the room a lot. Our only complaint with the room is it took a long time to get warm water for the shower. Other than that, no complaints. Great location for Fremont experiences. Would stay there again.
- 1/5
The room was filthy - black mold in the shower. Requested a missing chair 3 times and was given a straight backed restaurant chair - finally received a chair for our room the last day we were there. I was looking forward to our stay since we had been there several times before before COVID - now was very disappointed in the condition and upkeep of the room.
- 4/5
Atmosphere lively throughout casino
- 3/5
If you like a an older looking casino younger crowd, people in their 20 ones. The thirty five casino is more like for like locals.Casino has a smell to it.No amenities, not much to eat there. It's just right in the downtown area
- 5/5
Clean, comfortable and easy access to the Casino floor.
- 5/5
Great place to stay at
- 4/5
Clean and updated room. Friendly staff. Elevator had some issues while we were there. Casino areas are smokey. Other than that, would recommend.
- 1/5
I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. Instead of staying in the main building as expected, I was sent across the street to a separate location, which was not clearly communicated beforehand. The room itself was humid and felt unclean, making it uncomfortable to stay in. I requested a room change, but the staff were unable to accommodate this. Overall, the experience did not meet basic expectations for cleanliness or service
- 4/5
Bed was very comfortable They gave us a $5 player club card but it didn't work so I guess we lost. The staff was nice enough on check in and out. The casino looked like it had lots of options and a room that still took coins( old school)
- 5/5
Best casino in LV
- 4/5
We were in the suites. Not the main part of the casino. Great access to fremont street to container park and about four miles from the arts district.. Very clean smelled nice no smoking.. I love that our boutique hotel was 21 years & older
- 5/5
Yes
- 4/5
Other than the TV not working in my room . The room was clean . Great property
- 5/5
Great place, clean and right at the end of Fremont street and next door to the container park!
- 5/5
Nice stay as always . Friendly staff .
- 3/5
It was ok, however since it is downtown i will stay there again. Please bring back $5 craps and blackjack
- 5/5
Nothing but friendly faces and an overall fun environment without being too loud or hectic. Casino floor well kept. Loved to see staff of all ages and races being employed. History was known by most working there. Ease to the neighborhood was convenient. We have found our new favorite spot to stay.
- 5/5
Overall we recommend a stay here. The hotel is just about two block away from the Fremont Street Experience and the staff was great. We will stay here again next time we are in Las Vegas.
- 5/5
Enjoyed our stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Meh
- 5/5
Clean, spacious room in the cabana building. 5 minute walk from Fremont St party, but nice and quiet when you do finally want to sleep. Also, free parking! And resort fee half that if the strip.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly and the room was nice and clean.
- 4/5
it was ok
- 5/5
A wonderful place to stay. Convenient to everything and far enough off the strip that you can enjoy more than just glitz while in Vegas.
- 5/5
The staff is great. The cabana building is quiet and restful. The complimentary valet is life saver for me while I’m in Vegas.
- 5/5
the only thing that was lacking is more options for breakfast, the Siegels restaurant was closed for renovations
- 5/5
The staff was amazing and our room was super clean.
- 5/5
Great place. Close to freemont street.
- 5/5
The casino had a nice variety of games and felt less crowded than the Strip, which I liked. It’s also in a great location downtown, close to Fremont Street, so there’s plenty to do nearby. On the downside, some areas of the property feel a little dated, and depending on your room location, it can get a bit noisy at night. Overall, it’s a great spot if you’re looking for a more affordable stay with old-school Vegas charm.
- 5/5
Yes
- 1/5
Horrible service
- 5/5
Good service
- 1/5
My wife has bad knees and we were put in a room furthest from elevator. She struggled the entire stay
- 5/5
It was a great experience. We walked in the casino, no smell of cigarette. It smelled clean. Our room was nice & clean. Staff from the casino, to the receptionist, housekeepers they were all very polite and friendly. We will be back to El Cortez soon.
- 4/5
Walking distance from a lot of Accident. Nightlife
- 5/5
Wonderful stay for a great value. The valet, front desk staff, cocktail server's, restaurant staff and others were terrific. The room was clean and quiet. It wasn't fancy but a total ten in my book!
- 5/5
Good value hotel.
- 4/5
Staff, valet, and bellhop services were fantastic
- 3/5
Have rollaway beds, like how online says. There were none
- 4/5
Only one elevator works, took forever to get up and down. Good vibe, nice and quiet...would of liked a better gym but that would just be being picky. All and all a good place to stay, nice casino.
- 5/5
The casino was excel2nte I won some money 💰 on the craps machine.
- 5/5
old Vegas vibe. Nice place to stay at.
- 3/5
Outside rooms facing roof top nightclub with 5am music and daytime music. Need to warn guests of these events. I was able to move rooms. Mich better day 2-5
- 4/5
The breakfast menu is a Starbucks in the lobby. It's not included. The blinds are wooden shutters that do not block light or sound - ask for a quiet room if you actually want to sleep. Our bathroom floor and soap dish were visibly dirty, and our sheets and towels were visibly stained. Also, the room smelled so strongly of smoke, despite being a non-smoking room that it made my eyes water and nose run. The best thing about the hotel was the price, the free parking and the staff. Every staff member was incredibly nice and helpful.
- 2/5
Moved over from the cabana suites after the worst sleep of my life. The room was smaller than I thought and it was so loud outside and the ac blows right at your face. The main hotel wasn’t much better after paying another $50 to upgrade. You could hear everything outside and any little noise outside your room. I’ve stayed before and it was a pleasant stay. Hope this is just a one off because it is one of my favorite places to stay in Vegas
- 4/5
We had a great time, our stay was great we enjoyed our time in the casino.
- 5/5
The location is a huge plus. You’re just steps from the Fremont Street Experience, with live music, food, and entertainment right outside. It’s perfect if you want to be in the middle of the action without staying on the Strip. The room itself was clean and comfortable, though a bit dated. The furniture and décor reflect the hotel’s old-school charm, but everything was functional. The bed was comfortable, and housekeeping kept the room tidy throughout my stay. The bathroom was simple but did the job, with good water pressure and consistent hot water. One downside is noise. Being so close to Fremont Street, you can hear music and activity at night, and the walls are a bit thin. Light sleepers may want to bring earplugs. The staff was friendly and efficient, and check-in was quick. The casino has a more relaxed, laid-back feel compared to larger resorts, which I appreciated. Overall, El Cortez offers great value. It’s not luxury, but it’s clean, affordable, and full of character—perfect for a fun downtown Vegas stay.
- 5/5
Friendly staff clean rooms and the guys with the shuttle to the airport was great
- 5/5
Great!
- 4/5
Very good stay, the only nagging inconvenience was the elevator to the towers.. only one was in service, with no sign that they were fixing the second one that was broken. It just caused a delay and you had to wait, not earthshaking, just mildly annoying. Would NOT impact our decision to stay here again, because we WILL. Staff is pleasant, and the over 21 policy is appreciated at a casino. Excellent FREE parking too.
- 2/5
Music was to loud in the room from the street
- 5/5
We stayed in the Cabana. It was comfortable. The staff was great and it was quiet. The only thing I would say is in the summer I am sure those rooms are very hot. Needs central A/C also a second bed table would be helpful.
- 3/5
The room was clean, but the problem was that the noise was too much, keeping me awake till 6 am due to the music playing or people just talking.
- 5/5
Im pretty sure we can all agree we dont visit las vegas to stay in our rooms but the room was always clean and any time specific service was requested they were fast and reliable to get it done. Would definitely recommend the el Cortez to friends and family.
- 3/5
Room was dirty. Carpet had crumbs and dirt along the whole border. There was dust everywhere. The bed had pee stains on the sheets. I slept in my clothes on top not to use nasty blanket ans covers. Tried to spend as m.uch time out of the room as i can
- 4/5
If you want to sleep, get a room facing away from Fremont st. The fitness center was musty, needs more ventilation. Very small as well
- 4/5
Clean room, friendly staff, overall enjoyed our stay
- 5/5
My only complaint is the elevator.. only one was working
- 2/5
This was the worst service I have ever received; tourists deserve to be treated with respect. The first young woman simply followed the rules, but when I asked to speak with the manager, she assisted us very grudgingly—wearing an expression that made it clear she cared very little about what we were going through. I would not recommend this place to anyone, solely because of that unpleasant and poor service.
- 5/5
The El Cortez is my go to property whenever I am in Vegas. I will be back!!
- 3/5
Rooms need a update
- 5/5
It’s el Cortez babyyyyy
- 3/5
The security system on the lifts was not working. Anyone could access the floors and hotel rooms .
- 5/5
This place is classic super cool location awesome grounds and the room rooms are beautiful
- 5/5
Good games
- 5/5
Loved my stay thank you
- 5/5
Loved it
- 4/5
Staying at the Cabana Suites did not feel the safest. There was no visible staff or security.
- 4/5
The staff members were friendly. The room floor was sticky. Overall we enjoyed the restaurant and the bar.
- 2/5
Not coming back
- 5/5
Loved my stay here. It was back in March 25, and recently renovated. Room were well appointed, staff very helpful, and all in all just very welcoming. I’ll be back for sure hopefully later this year in 2026
- 5/5
Great location and recently renovated. Also one of the few spots left downtown with an elevated level of service. Free shuttle back to the airport, free drinks, and good food. Also in a great location.
- 3/5
We enjoyed for the most part. The water pressure was very low and the elevator took forever. We loved eating at the restaurant the first night, but had a bad experience the next morning. There were 3 people in the restaurant and it took over 15 minutes for us to get coffee and water.
- 5/5
Love the Cortez! Best place in Vegas!!!
- 4/5
We stayed in the tower. Clean comfortable updated
- 5/5
Comfy, clean rooms, amazing staff and great food.
- 5/5
Floor on the room was unleveled and shifting. Toilet paper was weirdly behind the door far away from the toilet. Overall, loved the hotel and the casino. Will stay there again. Great stay💜
- 5/5
Nice clean
- 5/5
Clean room and helpful staff.
- 1/5
Stayed on the 5th floor above the parking garage DO NOT STAY HERE. They asked if we wanted to upgrade upon check in and we didn't think it would be that big of an issue. There is a night club across the street that blasted music from 10pm-6am and the heater was broken in the room. We did not sleep AT ALL
- 1/5
Don’t stay here. It’s better at motel 6
- 5/5
I stayed in the Cabana suites. The room was very clean and quiet. The staff was very attentive.
- 5/5
Alice is the best she’s the night clerk. She was very friendly and accommodating we will stay at the el co just because of her
- 3/5
Bathroom plumbing was an issue on multiple days multiple occasions… the renovations they did do look amazing and I do like the hotel but you should be able to flush the toilet. Let go back to the casino and use their bathroom, which was a bummer.
- 1/5
Check in staff rude and unprofessional. My first time there. When checked in, the young lady did not seem to want to help me with anything. I had to ask here to show me how to get to my room and were to park. Did not even gave me the promotion booklet or complementary drinks because I booked with Expedia. The cabana petite room was so small and noisy because it’s next to public parking. The casino has bad ventilation. Smells like cigarettes all over. There’s no smoking section.
- 5/5
Room was clean staff was always ready to help. Had a great stay!!
- 2/5
Room looked alright and was good but only 2 stars due to lack of privacy in restrooms. Bathroom door doesn’t even reach ceiling.
- 4/5
The rooms were close to Fremont Street which is what we wanted
- 5/5
I had a great time very comfy
- 2/5
Building was next to road and you could hear everything outside. Kinda hard to sleep. Didn’t use the shower floor looked dirty.
- 4/5
Room and Casino was very clean and the staff was great. Only downfall was water pressure in the shower was not very strong and hot water was not very hot. Overall though we had an amazing experience
- 4/5
We shall return.
- 5/5
Great old-school casino with clean rooms and everything you need for an authentic Las Vegas experience.
- 5/5
Beyond the look of the casino was their staff, HR is doing a fabulous job hiring staff, from hotel, to restaurant and casino the staff were amazing. As for the food, I can only speak to the main restaurant, gosh don’t even remember the name, but the food was outstanding! I had the best French dip sandwich ever the first night, my husband had salmon that he said was delicious. Since dinner was so good we had breakfast there, again outstanding, in fact so good that the next morning we were going home we decided to have breakfast there before we hit the road. That never happens, we always leave as soon as we’re up. I think the hotel is really smart because they have a check in of 2 (4 which is the norm these days) and check out at 12, (the norm is now 11). Giving you the extra time is super smart. They’re super easy access from freeway, parking structure’s connected to hotel and you immediately enter into the casino from the structure. Oh free parking too, not the case on the strip! They kept one little section of the casino in original state, which was quaint. Only negative, pillows in room were so lumpy. This is now my go to stay in Vegas, Bravo El Cortez!
- 4/5
Booking was not right in the beginning, we had to pay upgrade, but got what we needed.
- 4/5
Overall the room was clean. I think the shower curtains need to be longer, it leaked out from underneath and was a bit annoying that the floor was always wet.
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly and
- 5/5
Amazing as always
- 4/5
Everyone helpful
- 5/5
Great part of VEGA’s history
- 3/5
Staff at front was overwhelmed upon arrival but did what she could. Room was just average as well as amenities.
- 3/5
Staff was awesome. We were out in the tower- don't recommend it- it was dirty. The restaurants were all good.
- 5/5
The room was very clean , comfortable and quiet. I really like the entire "Cabana" theme. It really made me feel like I was at a tropical location. The staff was very helpful and friendly. When I needed to find a specific ATM, they were more than helpful in pointing me to the right location.
- 5/5
We always love the old Vegas vibe at the ElCortez.
- 3/5
I stayed in a Cabana suite and there was music blasting somewhere in the area which went until the wee hours of the morning so it was hard to get sleep. The upstairs unit leaked through a light fixture into my bathroom and I had to ask housekeeping to mop it for me (which was done promptly). Everything was clean and tidy though. There’s a fridge inside too.
- 4/5
Room was clean. People friendly. Just a heads up there will be some noise from the music depending on room location. But recommend. Lots to do
- 4/5
The room was a bit small, but I knew that going in stayed over in the cabana area across the street. Check-in was great staff was great room was clean easy to get in and out of.
- 1/5
I didn’t like that the sheets and the pillows smelled like it hasn’t been changed, it smelled dirty. I don’t like that my credit card was charged twice and my boyfriends card was charged as well for the same amount and when I called the hotel to ask about it, I was transferred and I was placed on hold for over an hr and I still didn’t get helped because I hung up.
- 3/5
It was ok. First room was old, musty, small. Switched rooms, much better. Over all is was just ok.
- 2/5
Room phone didn’t work, TV didn’t work, heater wasn’t working.
- 4/5
Floors were dirty and I had to wash my feet begore getting in bed. The pillows suck too. Other than that it was a very pretty room.
- 4/5
Staff was great, we stayed across the street and it was older but still clean. We had a problem with no hot water. I called the desk and they immediately had someone to respond. They moved us to the next room over with no issues. Overall I would say this is a good place to stay if you like an older place to stay. They also had a Gym inside the building so working out is right down the hall if your on the first floor.
- 3/5
Very courteous staff. The room was nice. There was too much noise. You could hear the doors to adjacent rooms closing loudly.
- 5/5
Tower room was great. Great location. Definitely would sray again.
- 5/5
The room was very clean, the bar looks very nice and I love the openness, the lights are brighter and I felt so inviting, my wife and I spend our anniversary in El Cortez for the past 10 years and it was great! Staff and dealers were amazing, especially Scotty! Thank you El Cortez for making my special day unforgettable, I will definitely keep going to El cortez
- 4/5
It was cute but could have been cleaned a little better.
- 1/5
The lady at the front desk forgot to charge me then called me 2x in less then a hour after I told her I was coming but she sent security to my room anyway so unprofessional
- 5/5
Awesome comfotable
- 4/5
Great location! Room was small but very clean.
- 1/5
The furnace in the supposedly “updated” room was incredibly loud—like someone banging on the door—and ran throughout the night, repeatedly waking me. The room also smelled terrible despite being designated non-smoking. No actual bathroom door here. The next morning, I went downstairs to request a different room. The interim manager on duty took my concerns personally and came across as rude rather than helpful. She didn’t acknowledge or apologize when I mentioned that we waited an hour and a half the night before for blankets and pillows that never arrived. She eventually had another employee show us a room across the way, advertised as one of the newer suites. While the size was acceptable and it had an actual bathroom door, the room we were assigned was filthy—there was bodily fluid on the carpet and the main chair, a used tissue in the shower, and the overall cleanliness was unacceptable. Frustrated, I returned to the front desk and asked for the best available room. Upcharge was almost $300 more-crazy. The third room was a completely different experience: truly updated, clean, and clearly better maintained—though much larger and more expensive than we needed. Unfortunately, even this room had a couch with visible bodily fluids, and the thermostat did not function, leaving the room uncomfortably warm (thankfully it was only about 70 degrees outside).
- 1/5
You do not trit your regulercustomer right .. CABANA BUILD4 IS TOO OLD TO STAY.. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE! SHOULD EXPLAIN EARLIER WHEN WE MAKE A RESERVATIONS.. DO NOT SEND FREE ROOM OFFER !!!!
- 3/5
The room is very dated, and the lighting in the room is terrible!
- 5/5
The room was clean and staff was great.
- 5/5
Double Queen tower room was excellent. Friendly staff. The free ride to the airport was a nice perk. The gentleman that took us was very knowledgeable and informative. Will be staying again when I return to Vegas.
- 5/5
My stay was wonderful. My room was Spotless. Maid service is everyday! However, I didn’t need it. The Cabana was just right for me. I loved the modern decor and the staff was very hospitable. Every time I visit Las Vegas, I will stay here!! I’ve stayed at the Bellagio, planet Hollywood, New York and other big name hotels. I feel you pay for the name. I’m older now, I Don’t need to stay at those places. I didn’t want to be around a lot of people. This place was absolutely perfect. I would recommend that Everyone stays here! Bellagio, , Planet Hollywood
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
All the staff were amazing, check in was smooth. Room was super clean, had a good view of container park & the strip from our room. Thank you to El Cortez we will absolutely be returning again ♥️
- 4/5
Always good
- 4/5
I usually stay in the main hotel, decided to try the Cabañas, room was a little too dark, not enough lighting, room was a little too small, pillows were hard and not comfortable.
- 5/5
The gambling was good also.
- 5/5
Friendly and helpful staff! All top notch and professional! The tower room was comfy and clean. Very spacious and spa-like shower (drifted away after out all night). Will stay again!
- 4/5
Nice casino and friendly staff but my first room had a musty smell and a lamp with bo shade. Moved to another which had less a smell but the thermostat looked like it was bent and not working right. Overall tho enjoyed my stay and it’s in a good location for Fremont.
- 5/5
Limpia
- 5/5
We had an upgrade and the room was wonderful. Service and desk ladies were so kind. We had a great time here.
- 1/5
Rooms are old and neglected. Broken lamp, water damage on walls in bathroom. Mold in bathroom. Tap on batteries in safe. Heat register kept falling off wall. Smelled terrible. Bedding very thin and scratchy.
- 5/5
Clean Room, Excellent Service, Nice Hotel !
- 4/5
Good time
- 5/5
Everything was great
- 5/5
Do yourself a favor. Check out the El Cortez and the rest of Fremont St. You won’t be disappointed.
- 5/5
Don the vallet great asset to the hotel
- 4/5
The room was very well furnished. The bathroom nice. The makeup vanity mirror was super useful.
- 4/5
Clean room
- 5/5
The room was very clean, and the staff was very friendly. The cost of the room was very fair. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to other people.
- 1/5
Lets start off with your front desk doing a switch and bait on me. If i upgraded then there was no resort fee. I picked this hotel befause they said renovated rooms. I ended up in a motel look area and i didnt feel safe. They stole my 2 cans of salsa. Didnt clean the room on the last night. So i asked for bags and housekeeping said theyd bring them right up. Never came. Then my daughter and i were frightned when s lady was screaminng and hitting on doors. What resort fee! I made sure not to gamble ir eat there on my birthday celbration. I felt like they were racist to us exceot for Alice. This was a dump and to have food stolen is just weird. They almost ruined my birthday but went to my original hotel that i always stay at. The 4 Queens where my other party was. Gambled over a $1,000 and ate at the Magnolia. Motel 6 would have been better at the front desks girls treated me like i was an inconvience. My daughter is a doctor and was pissed at our treatment! I have enough
- 3/5
Clean, but AC doesn't work very well even in the hallways so not a place I'd want to in the summer. Good location.
- 3/5
Toilet / Shower compartment door hinges need oil; very loud. Shower needs a door or curtain, water all over floor. Only two clothes hangers for two people? AC unit makes a loud bang when the compressor and fan stop. Please add a filtered water bottle filler for hotel guests. We asked to fill our bottles and were refused by the staff and the bar. The small plastic bottles aren't enough and are a waste of resources. The casino restrooms were disgusting.
- 5/5
Always fun
- 5/5
Loved it
- 2/5
Card reader at almost every slot machine wouldn’t read members card. Trip to club Cortez & getting help was too much. Took forever and a day to get assistance and when we did it was as we were shooting bamboo sticks under their fingernails. NEVER again will we stay here, the history may be great but service and attitude sucks.
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
The rooms are a bit dated. The sraff were good. The location is excellent.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
Clean room good place
- 5/5
The hotel was very nice and clean! All the staff was amazing and very welcoming. We loved our room too! Restaurants were top tier, especially Send Noods! The ramen was so delicious! Our only complaint was the bed was not very comfortable. We loved The El Cortez and will definitely be back!
- 5/5
All around fabulous
- 3/5
Budget price was ok for the hotel however i did experience ac issues during my stay room was hot throughout the whole day as well as a roach problem.
- 1/5
Room was terribly neglected, and staff was lacking in availability and knowledge.
- 5/5
Great value
- 4/5

- 4/5
Yes. Very organized and clean.
- 2/5
The location was extremely loud.
- 0.5/5
Smoke and room was no where near a 3.5 star rating
- 4/5
Welcoming and friendly
- 5/5
Room was clean and had a great view.
- 3/5
The room felt a bit chilly, so I tried to set the temperature to 78 degrees, but it only went up to 68. I liked the room rates compared to other hotels
- 5/5
Great value, awesome staff!
- 5/5
All good
- 5/5
Very impressed with the room and staff. Love the retro feel. Very clean and the bar and restaurant were great. Will be returning.
- 5/5
It was awesome staying at the oldest hotel and casino in LV. Highly reccomend for budget travelers.
- 5/5
Didn’t have time to way breakfast.
- 4/5
Simple and no frills. The Cabana Suites are across the street from the main hotel and are small rooms with no pool connected (just for clarity). I stayed in a ground floor unit, which is unusual for Las Vegas, but it felt pretty safe and private. This was a fine spot for what I needed - a place to sleep passing through town. I would recommend, if you can stomach the resort fee.
- 1/5
The hotel was fantastic. The employees were very helpful however Expedia’s advertising that they have 24 hour shuttle service was the only reason I booked this hotel and was not available for my 86-year-old parents and ended up having to get a taxi at $60 was not in their budget. I am very dissatisfied with Expedia‘s service and will never use this again and will make sure my friends do not as well.
- 5/5
Every staff member i came across was foremost friendly, professional, polite, & courteous. From the valet, front desk, bellman, housekeeping staff, restaurant servers, bartenders, & casino dealers. Little bit better than my Strip experiences.
- 3/5
Well once i got in my room which was LITERARY across the the street from the main hotel where i was stayimg, the end table were fithy, the pullow cases had lipstick on them. I was like NO!! so upon calling down to the feont desk they did move me to a new room. Thank goodmess! And they gave me a partial comp on the room. CRAZY. the main hotel is actually quite nice, drink prices are very reasonable, cool vibe. It ls just weird to walk across th we street to another hotel/motel to sleep. It is what what it is. Met some phenomenal filks feim Hawaii sonim happy. Good people are a blessing. Anyhow the main El Cortez Hotel is nice and refurbished with some nice restaurants. I went to Noods and got their veggie ramen. Very satified. Noodles, eggs, Brussels sprouts,, tofu, green onions and some othe veggies. Very tasty and fulfilling. So upon getting a new clean room , its a nice affordable place to stay.
- 5/5
The El Cortez is a vibe. The ambiance is on point for old school Las Vegas with modern touches. We had a great stay. Looking forward to our next visit.
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
The location is perfect, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the value is always high. We stay here every time we visit Las Vegas
- 5/5
Yes and yes. Great service and experience. Thank you El Cortez.
- 5/5
The only place I stay when I come to Vegas.
- 3/5
update the cabana suites dirty sofa and no charging ports available
- 5/5
House keepers were so sweet!
- 1/5
The room was across the street from the hotel. The light in the bathroom was yellow and dim. The shower had no pressure or hot water. The shower head was in the corner of the shower so you had to stand against the wall to get wet! The one elevator was very slow and took 60 seconds to close. Faster to use the stairs! The new black jack tables sucked! I didn’t even gamble there due to crappy atmosphere. I will never go back!
- 1/5
For me, that’s a really bad because I can’t sleep in the whole night. I need to leave at 1 AM in the morning because I can’t sleep. That’s a really bad.
- 1/5
They had a homeless guy blocking one door to the entrance of the hotel
- 5/5
Our first time staying at The El Cortez and we really enjoyed it. We were in the cabanas building and it was a cute room that eas very quiet. Away from the hustle and bustle, but just across the street from casino. We liked the casino too. Not as expensive as others. We had breakfast at diner and it was excellent. We will definitely stay there again!
- 3/5
We got to our room and the room was over 80 degrees. Had to have maintenance come to repair the heater/air conditioner. There was a pair of dirty socks under our luggage bench. Riim shield like cigarette smoke the whole time. I didn't realize you could smoke in the rooms in s bin smokeroufirst hour
- 5/5
Staff was very nice
- 4/5

- 1/5
The room is old and needs to be updated. The noise from across the street was so loud. The halls was Siri.
- 3/5
Room was nice and clean but the AC didn't work and they never sent anyone to fix it even after I called them
- 5/5
Clean rooms and great customer service
- 5/5
Having the cabanas off site was such an amazing experience.
- 5/5
"I had been to El Cortez many times but never in the original rooms. Very nice, I liked them. The only thing is that you can hear the noise from Fremont. But the rooms and hallways I liked a lot."
- 1/5
The room was old, exterior door and very noisy. More of a motel feel than hotel.
- 5/5
convenient parking, walking distance to fremont street, lots of cops on patrol
- 3/5
I was not pleased with room I was in. The original 47. We paid for the room and did not use a promotional offer and could not get the new tower. Very disappointed. It is unbelievable that there was no elevator and we had to pick up our heavy suitcases up two flights of stairs. I almost fell.
- 5/5
If you enjoy history, stay at the El Cortez next time you're in Vegas! It's the oldest hotel casino in Vegas, and I love all the old pictures and memorabilia. Don't get me wrong, it's updated, but I stayed in the Original 47, and you still get the old school feel. The restaurants like Siegel's 1941 and Hot Noods did not disappoint. Great stay!
- 5/5
Great Stay! I’d do it again!
- 5/5
Staff was very nice!
- 5/5
Everyone was so nice. The room was wonderful and roomy. We will return as I wanted to meet Kenny and I missed my chance this trip!!
- 5/5
Courteous staff throughout the hotel and casino.
- 3/5
Front desk check in was slow with few customers. Room was noisy. Could here movement from next door and outside noise.
- 5/5
Attention to detail when my room needed it. Recommend is a for sure. The price should mention the $50 up charge due to being in the tower, and the $100 deposit. It was lovely
- 1/5
Room wasn’t clean, ac didn’t work. Heat was stuck on 73. Multiple fixtures were loose. Very poor stat
- 3/5
The staff was great and so was the breakfast

The rooms are clean. The staff was friendly and helpful.

This place is such a gem!! The history is what makes this place so special! They have done an excellent job of preserving the building!!! Such a classic!!
- 5/5

Property is old and even though I was on.a walker I was given a room that was very.far from.the main building .
- 1/5
Terrible!! Never again!
- 5/5
Room was spotless. The staff were great.
- 4/5
Nice place for price. Location great if like Freemont area.
- 5/5
Enjoyed the retro vibes of the Pavillion rooms (above parking garage). So convenient to open door and be outside! And only feet from the elevator and action. Easy parking and free. Love having a coffee maker and fridge. Room was clean too.
- 5/5
Loved the thoughtful room design! Loved the vanity and shower seat especially.
- 3/5
Room was great and the valet driver was awesome!!
- 3/5
Checked in. Pavilion tower. Non smoking room. Walked in and it smelled like Cheech & Chong stayed there the night before. Staff immediately moved us but disappointed in the obvious oversight by housekeeping.
- 5/5
Yes it was...we loved the room and will be coming back on March 7 thru 10 and requested the same room, room #1108..
- 2/5
Room was dirty, front desk indifferent. No luggage carts available, their airport shuttle is only from the hotel to the airport in the morning.
- 4/5
The staff from the parking attendant to checkout are all very pleasant. They truly make you feel welcomed.
- 5/5
Downtown is what it is, but for a first time stay the El Cortez was a great choice!
- 3/5
I didn’t call the desk because I was on a tight schedule and was already unpacked and didn’t have the time to move rooms.
- 5/5
Clean room
- 5/5
Yes
- 4/5
The room seemed pretty clean. TV has about 30 channels and you have to watch a short promo video about the hotel over and over again while you pick a channel to watch. It got very annoying after awhile.

First the history of the casino. The old black and white pictures. Second the staff is always friendly. The casino is clean the food is excellent.
- 5/5
Hotel was booked based on location and pricing. Little did we know we were going to have amazing interaction with staff. Shout out to George at the front desk, he was very kind and helpful with our check in. It was nice to see the general manager, Adam, interacting with the guests and Don who helped with our transportation to the airport was a wealth of knowledge.
- 5/5
We had a wonderful stay room was clean. Love the casino
- 3/5
Room was either extremely hot or extremely cold. Could not control thermostat. Only one elevator working. This has been an ongoing issue. Restaurant was absolutely disgusting
- 5/5
I moved to a tower room after a couple of nights. The tower rooms are a world of difference, very nice.

Awesome addition and remodle. World class place.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff. That was the best part.
- 4/5
The staff were all pretty great from check-in to bartenders, servers, & housekeeping.
- 4/5
We stayed in one of the original 47 rooms which was very cool. We loved to be in a part of old Las Vegas and to see the history. The room was small but comfortable. Not the best bed but not the worst. The staff at check in were wonderful, and the staff at the players club were helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff. Room was clean
- 2/5
We had HORRIBLE plumbing issues! Our shower over flooded into the bathroom floor and we advised them, not once BUT TWICE before they actually came to fix it!! Not a pleasant atay at all this time around!
- 3/5
I reserved my room at El Cortez six months before our stay. We were not able to get our usual room on an upper floor even though it was being held they said. It was given to someone else even though I had been to reservation desk 3 times to check. We finally got a room on the 3rd floor and upon going to room found out it was handicap accessible. We had a hard time with water running out into rest of bathroom. We were disappointed but hotel was fully booked we were told.
- 5/5
Staff was extremely helpful!!
- 3/5
I reserved a king premium room 3m2 months ahead of time and ended up getting 2 queens instead. When i went down to the counter they said they had sold out the kings. I was confused by this sinse i had reserved a room. The noise from a rave party behind the hotel room was EXTREMELY LOUD. It was VERY difficult to get some good sleep. They really need to invest in some thicker windows or something to cancel out the noise. It really was bad.
- 5/5
Staff all nice al but grumpy bartender at lobby bar. Rude I was gambling he took my free drink ticket. Clean nice room.

Location and history
- 2/5
When we arrived we didn't receive the greatest welcome. They weren't rude, but certainly weren't happy to see us.
- 5/5
Room was good staff was prompt when requesting extra towels and love the overall Casino!
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly and courteous. Clean room. Overall, everything is excellent
- 2/5
We were also given a handicap room, it was a busy weekend so I understand sometimes they are given out to non handicap people but I would have preferred a regular room.
- 5/5
Feel very well maintained facility used to come here back in the day with my grandfather in the '90s first time back in 30 years I definitely wasn't disappointed keep up the good work highly recommend a true gem in Vegas
- 5/5
Everything was easy to find within the casino and hotel. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
By far the classiest hotel I've ever stayed at. Not in the modern "everything is

My stay at this hotel was excellent. Starting with the Front Desk personnel. Doug was great and Gabriella was great very Customer Service friendly and very helpful. I had gotten rerouted from another hotel and I had to check in later at this one the El Cortez on Fremont Street and it all worked out so good. I already recommended another friend to stay here and I will definitely be coming back. I had a great time some good food there also.
- 2/5
The room was very dingy, dark, dirty stains on all the furniture Hair found in the shower that wasn’t ours pieces of hair from like a razor on the shower wall, definite mold in the corners of the bathroom and the air conditioner/heater would not maintain the correct temperature
- 1/5
unclean room. dirty and old and smelly. was very disappointed because the last time i stayed here it was quite nice
- 2/5
Old school hotel, doors open to the elements. Pure noise from Container Park
- 5/5
I do not utilize the transportation but the parking structure was easy in/out and free. I was not aware of breakfast on site but a short walk to Hash House A Go-Go was perfect! Staff was 10/10. They were friendly and helpful. It was pretty quiet based on the location but weekends you can hear a little bass from the area clubs. No horrible perfume smell in the casino like on the strip. A plus- we left winners!
- 4/5
Location is good !
- 3/5
Room was barely satisfactory. Light fixtures were crooked and barely gave off enough light. Blinds didn’t function properly. We had 1/2 roll of toilet paper with nothing more in the room. The ice machine didn’t work in the Cabanas portion of the hotel - we had to get ice from a bartender in the main casino. I security roaming at night and the receptionist is there during the daytime, not night. The sink water pressure was very low. The perk is the casino has great gambling, food options and you can walk to Fremont Street Experience.
- 5/5
Everything was good
- 1/5
Heat did not work. The room was freezing. Stains on the sheets. Very loud.
- 5/5
Checked in after our flight arrived, and were able to get into a room right away which was great! Wonderful and kind staff. Will plan to stay again.
- 5/5
👍
- 5/5
Room was amazing and the staff were great!
- 4/5
Great staff. The room had a loud sound coming from the ac/heater unit. I let the staff know about it. Hopefully it gets fixed
- 3/5
Great location and staffs are very nice. However the age of the rooms are definitely showing and in my opinion due for some renovation. We called 3x for a third bath towel as we had indicated 3 people are staying. No one came to give us the towels even though the front desk answered the call. The water pressure is also extremely weak to the point that I suspect it is broken. Lastly our room is very close to the container park and the song from the mantis goes on every 20min roughly till 1am so take that in mind.
- 5/5
room was good and clean.
- 4/5
Yes everything was really nice. I love the Staff. Leo , Tony Jose do a great job with the Valet and Bags, William too. El Cortez is my definite go to in Vegas from now on.
- 3/5
The elevator to our rooms was not in service the first night. Access to our room was only available after multiple attempts to get help. Finally we were escorted by security through the stairwell that was otherwise locked.
- 5/5
All the staff we interacted with was very friendly, The entire experience was great, and will definitely stay here again!
- 4/5
Decor was spot on. Really nice

TV/remote never worked, tv was 'on' 24/7 as a result. Only 1 elevator functioning, and it went out 1st night, had to be escorted by security upn6 flughts of stairs to getvto room.
- 3/5
Stayed in the Cabana Suites. Room was large but outdated. Some furniture seemed to be stained. Staff was friendly but the hallway constantly smelled of weed.
- 5/5
Love this place. They make you feel at home. Old 90,s vibe hospitality. 🙌🤘

- 5/5
Staff was super friendly, easy to walk to other bars/restaurants, room was cute and tidy, felt safe and cozy
- 2/5
I love the Cortez but the broken elevator was really a pain in the ass for me. I've got stage 4 cancer and don't get around real well and it kind of ruined my stay.
- 3/5
It was ok but the sheets had stains and housekeeping opened the door without knocking….

I booked online pictures of room looked nice once we checked in they gave us keys of the older rooms which need a lot of upgrades, next day the elevator wasn’t working so we had to climb 5 flights of stairs they ended putting us in the rooms that I had originally booked. Overall didn’t care for hotel.

The room charges were higher than expected.
- 4/5
Clean rooms and fun location.
- 1/5
When I called the front desk to ask if there were any quieter areas of the hotel, they promptly told me I had to upgrade and that I chose that part of the hotel. Well, NO, I didn't! I will never even consider staying there again!
- 5/5
I love it here !
- 5/5
Great room, great view, easy check in, free parking, excellent location.
- 5/5
Friendly and helpful staff
- 3/5
The rooms were amazingly clean. Housekeeping and customer service was very attentive. The bell hop was even extremely helpful. With that being said, security did was very selective in their approach, as to whom they questioned for identification.
- 5/5
I always stay at El Cortex every time I go to LV. It's by far my favorite hotel and Casino. Great dining options and enterntainment.
- 5/5
Everything was clean,
- 5/5
It was nice and clean
- 4/5
Other than the floors not being vacuumed or cleaned prior to our occupancy of the room, nor throughout our 4-day stay, overall, the room was excellent and the staff was very courteous and friendly!
- 4/5
Great staff, delicious food and fun games! The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because of the loud clubs downtown. We heard everyone and every thing! Keep that in mind when booking. Our room was in the tower. Other than that, it was a great experience!
- 1/5
Room was dirty. Keys didn't work, it took us a half an hour to get in the room. Beds were old mattresses and uncomfortable.
- 5/5
Everything was great!
- 3/5
The people working the floor, restaurants, etc were AWESOME! We did not realize there was still smoking in the casinos so that sucked. We understand why. Just tough to breathe sometimes
- 4/5
I will be back.
- 5/5
Good price
- 5/5
We loved our stay. Everything was great. We liked the quaint almost “at home” feel.

1st room. Got a double when I reserved a king. Was not told. When I went in it smelled bad. Like sewage. They gave me a second room. It was king. But the next day I notched that the coffee machine did not work. Sink when drain very slow. And the ceiling was leaking from the bathroom. So they gave me a 3rd room. This time the room did not have air conditioning and the music from the street was so loud. I’ve been here before and had no problems. But this was an event that changed how I feel about this place. I might give them one more try.
- 4/5
Love the hotel but the DJ on Friday
- 5/5
The room was comfortable and the staff was really nice and pleasant. Free shuttle is a really nice SUV and Don the driver is really nice.

- 5/5
Clean room, comfortable bed and most important was the excellent staff. Will stay again.
- 5/5
good value for what I paid for the room.
- 2/5
During my most recent stay, my room was absolutely filthy. The floors were so dirty that walking on them turned the bottoms of my feet black. The bathroom was not clean, and there was hair in the bed sheets — something that should never happen in a hotel. I’ve always loved staying here, but the declining cleanliness has really changed my experience. I truly hope management addresses these issues, because I would love to keep coming back, but not under these conditions.

- 5/5
The room was newly remodeled and beautiful.
- 3/5
Room was in good condition, but didn’t get the standard king I reserved— my husband and I got placed in a two-queen room. They couldn’t move us to a king until the next day.
- 5/5
The room was very clean the staff was extremely pleasant. Great recommendations for food in the area.
- 5/5
Great stay. 10/10
- 5/5
Fun to stay in one of the historical Vegas hotels and casinos
- 5/5
It was a wonderful stay! We do it again!!
- 5/5
Great hotel
- 3/5
Our rooms were ok. I didn't care for the beds because the sides were framed and very uncomfortable to sit. I kept hitting my ankles or back of my calves on the wood frame. The bathroom was ridiculously small! Hard to get in and out of the toilet area, I had to either straddle the toilet to open the door or back into the shower. Even though its been remodeled, the upkeep has fallen. The fixtures were falling off the walls in the bathroom, I could move them easily. The shower was ok, confusing on how many knobs there were to adjust the temperature and the pressure. Housekeeping would come into my room even though we had a do not disturb sign up. At other hotels I've stayed at, they don't enter your room until you've checked out or you ask for service. I didn't feel like my belongings were truly safe, because they entered without my permission.
- 5/5
Clean rooms and great housekeeping staff
- 3/5
Ive stayed at this property multiple times and have never been offered an upgrade or any other perks other than the standard $5 off for subpar breakfast and 1 drink pass. I most likely wont be staying there anymore as i frequently visit vegas at least twice a yr. I will look for a place with nicer rooms. Ive been in almost every room on the 8th floor of this hotel and enough is enough
- 5/5
Wonderful atmosphere, spacious accommodations. My only complaint is no usb plugs within the room.
- 5/5
Everything was perfect as always
- 4/5

Clean room and personal very nice
- 5/5
Slow on bringing batteries for the remote, but good rooms and made check-in a breeze
- 3/5
My room was across the street from the main hotel in Cabana Suites, which was very inconvenient. The room was older and looking worn
