Reviews
Guests generally have a positive experience at the hotel, appreciating the friendly staff, clean rooms, and convenient location. However, some guests express dissatisfaction with the cleanliness of certain areas, the size of the bathrooms, and the smell of smoke in the casino and rooms.

The room was clean aside from the foul smell of cigarette smoke in the lobby area the floors was fine not a smell of the cigarette smoke smell and it was nice clean and well taken care of definitely booking again I just will stay away from the main floor that smell of tobacco smoke is super pungent

Always a great stay here at The Cal
- 5/5
Clean, great value, good location. I would stay again
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
I love staying here. The property is well kept and you don’t have to pay for parking like other properties.

- 5/5
Very nice comfortable and affordable hotel in the Las Vegas downtown area. Many good restaurants in the hotel and surroundings. Hawaiian theme. Good value. Recommended. Thanks.
- 4/5
The property was good. I didn’t like the early check in fee that they charged especially since a lot of rooms were open as many Hawai’i travelers always arrive on the red eye. The resort fee is also ridiculous considering that there are no great resort amenities
- 2/5
You just want a clean room ….. mine had a nail file from prior guest waiting for me on the chair together with a used towel hanging from the shower…. Argh…
- 3/5
We were only there for night and were given a room in the west tower. There was so much road noise!! Unbelievable, to be honest. So, they should offer ear plugs to guest upon check in.
- 4/5
Great location, clean comfortable bed. Free parking, nice restaurants. Definitely will be back again.
- 5/5
I only wish some of the restaurants that were closed for construction were available during the stay!
- 4/5
We would love a no smoking casino area or a much better filtration system.
- 5/5
Excellent location. Very quiet rooms, which were clean but a little worn. Would stay here again due to the location off of Fremont but yet safely walkable at night.
- 5/5
The room had so much noise going on. The toilet sink and tub would sound like it’s swallowing water. The walls would creak all night.
- 5/5
Stay at the California was perfect.
- 5/5
Property was very cleaned.
- 5/5
My family and I have enjoyed our stay here. The room was clean and the housekeeping was helpful when needed. All in all was good.
- 4/5
Except for a plumbing issue, my stay at the California hotel was a good one. The staff is friendly and there is a store with bottled water and other amenities open late.
- 5/5
Great staff, clean room, very nice rooms, great location
- 5/5
great location, friendly staff, clean large rooms.
- 5/5
SUPER FRIENDLY 👌
- 5/5
I was shocked with how clean the rooms are and the helpful staff. Definable worth staying here! You can’t beat the free parking and loved that the rooms didn’t smell like cigarettes either (compared to other non-smoking hotel rooms that still have some sort of smell). I would totally recommend this place with my eyes closed!
- 5/5
Definitely coming back to stay again soon
- 4/5
Great location, very nice staff, great price, the only problem we had is the room next door partyed all night loud music didn't not get any sleep
- 4/5
We really like that this casino is quieter than most on the strip, while still having lots of gambling action. There are nice options for eating, but also an easy walk to other casinos in the area. Ride share from this location was easy as well. The hotel is just a block off of the Fremont Street experience.
- 4/5
Did not eat in casino another customer gave me horrible reviews on the restaurants. The pool wasn’t heated. It was like going in an ice bath.
- 4/5
Pros: Good value if booked somewhat in advance Not too much of a busy casino Walkable to the Fremont street walking experience Ample parking space in the garage Stable wifi (even for the free package) Multiple paid dining options Cons: No microwave (common in casino hotels) and even coffee machine in most rooms Kind of small rooms & bathroom No complimentary breakfast
- 1/5
Hotel smells of cigarettes, not a good place for a person with Asthma & A/C unit wasn’t working well
- 4/5
Room was clean and spacious but bathroom is very small. Decent dining options in hotel but only one is open after 10 pm creating long wait times around 11 pm - midnite. Parking is easy but can fill up fast during weekends.
- 5/5
Mostly everything was great. The only downfall was the bathroom. It was way too small, I had a hard time closing and opening the door when inside.
- 3/5
Food was good
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly, quick & efficient. Hotel & room were clean.

- 2/5
Front desk wasn’t nice when I checked in . I asked to see if I can switch room because the room was very small compared to other rooms and she said no , that I have to call you - Expedia . My room was in the end of the hall , I can’t even open the fridge door because the bed is right there. The gap between the walk is barely enough to Walk to the bathroom. I’ve stayed in many hotels , and paid the same price and I had a better luck than this at California hotel !
- 2/5
Room was extremely dusty. They did turn down service daily and provided towels and fresh sheets (?). But surfaces were caked in dust. Pool was very small and underwhelming. Small weight room with broken cardio equipment. Elevators were out of service/ broken. And the ones in use were slow and noisy. Check in staff wasn’t clear about credit card charges/ holds. Minimal communication. A/c in room was strong but loud and all around out dated hotel (low ceilings, popcorn textured ceilings, small bathroom, stiff mattresses/ flat pillows.
- 5/5
Great place for calm and lovely experience of Vegas!
- 1/5
I have given a property and reported that the bathroom sink is not functioning n I was told they submitted the request but never show off to fix it 2 days of my stay.
- 2/5
Both the parking garage and hotel had only one functioning elevator causing a delay.
- 3/5
I wonder when these sums will be released?
- 5/5
Super good
- 3/5
She procceded to tell me I should have gotten them upon arrival (yesterday). So in all someone at the front desk was being mean, don't know why. Overall the hotel rooms are good! I just wish they would be more consistant about procedures.
- 4/5
Comparing it to another hotel where we stayed which was a short walk to California Hotel, my mom liked the latter. She said she like that it was quiet, room look clean, the facility much newer, hallway and elevator was spacious. Valet service was free and easy. There were restaurants on site too. Good deal for your money.
- 4/5
Everything was great, but tried using the phone to call for services and nobody answered. Yes, it was a busy weekend so I understood. Didn't have any cleaning service come into my room when I didn't have the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door.
- 5/5
Everything was up to par!
- 1/5
The only friendly staff here were the bellhop staff. Front desk was super rude. Very dirty, holes in the carpet. Staines everywhere. Did not want to take my shoes off or sleep under the covers. I felt dirtier leaving here than when i came in. Do not recommend.
- 3/5
The casino was a bit smoky, but serviced very well by staff. Security keeps an eye out for homeless on the floor. They do get in, but are escorted out fairly quickly. We were surprised by a resort fee of $37 a night. No coffee maker in the room and a bit challenging to find a cup in the morning - have to go to the mezzanine connecting California Hotel with Main Street.
- 5/5
Clean room friendly staff only downside was only 1 of 3 elevators were working at the time so sometimes took forever to get up to the room
- 5/5
First time staying and would stay again. Steakhouse was on point and worth every penny.
- 5/5
Best location just amount of distance from Fremont
- 5/5
Staff was amazing & friendly ! Made our stay super fun & easy especially having a child with us. Pool was amazing and so was the food.
- 4/5
Only 1 elevator worked during our stay
- 5/5
Staff was very nice and informative and rooms are clean
- 5/5

- 1/5
Only 1 out of 3 elevators was working all weekend. Staff denied us a roller bed during check in even though we requested one beforehand.

- 4/5
We enjoy staying at the Cal bc of all the local Hawaii people. Very comfortable. The only issue I had was that I did not know that if I book thru a third party....we don't get the coupon books for meals. I will rethink how I book my next stay at The Cal
- 5/5
WOULD GO BACK
- 4/5
Most dining areas do not have any vegetarian options. Most of the staff were friendly. Maids kept the room clean.
- 5/5
If you want a dose of aloha and cannot make it to the islands, Las Vegas is the place to come and the Cal is the place to stay. Comfortable, great food, lovely staff. Safe and the slots were kind too!
- 5/5
Easy to get too. Location within a very short walking distance to circa and Fremont, container park, bars and other casinos. Will stay again.
- 5/5
My go to place when in Las Vegas
- 5/5
The breakfast was great and the slots was on fire. Also the staff at the California hotel and casino was awesome…
- 5/5
The room was clean and comfortable. It offered Netflix (with my own membership) on the TV. Hotel property is well maintained. There are places to eat in the casino, but I did not take advantage of them this time. They are of a Hawaiian theme. Staff was all friendly. This hotel is near (but not on) the Fremont Street Experience. So it's nice to be close to that, but not right there, for when you want away from all the people. There is a skywalk from this property to the hotel/casino next door in case you want to stay inside and check out another property. I'd stay there again and would recommend it to others.
- 3/5
However, I did not get a good rest here as the rooms around mine were slamming doors starting at the first hour of the morning. I know this is not in the hotel’s control and I don’t fault the staff. But just something to be aware of, no sound proofing or noise insulation. Every slam of the door startled me out of my sleep. But again nice rooms just don’t expect to sleep.
- 5/5
Great service
- 5/5
Wished a microwave be available in every guest rooms.

We had got to check in early, which was awesome. Room was clean. Staff is friendly. We had a wonderful experience.

- 3/5
Great location, near Freemont Experience. Bare minimum ameneties; sunken bed mattress.
- 4/5
Nice place to stay. Very friendly staff.
- 4/5
Our room was nice and cleaned each day. To bad they had to shut down elevators during the daytime when lots of people were using them. Poor planning for guests.
- 5/5
clean room. good staff
- 4/5
Clean room. Coffee shop food was terrible.
- 1/5
Very Rude & Unwelcoming Staff.
- 1/5
Horrible experience the first night we were woken up at 2:30 am to our roof leaking all over our luggage staff said it was due to upstairs leaving the shower door open while showering . Then when we asked to change to another room since it was leaking and all over our floor then continued to tell us there was no rooms available. My husband and I were told to check back in the morning for availability IF there was openings. They also didn't want to give us compensation even though our luggage was wet , the roof was leaking and they wouldn't give us a room right away. Finally my husband fought to get us a different room the NEXT day. Then the last morning we had our do not disturb sign on our door and house keeping decides to still come into our room which my husband just go done in the shower and was only wearing his underwear and proceeds to come in and ask my husband if we checking out today when check out is at 11 and it was about to be 10am. Then when we went to check out they decided the only compensation they were giving us was the resort fee which was only $35. We will NEVER be going back to that casino and hotel
- 5/5
Hotel and casino were great Cafe food was good and reasonably priced
- 4/5
I wish the pool had been heated, it was hot outside but the pool water was ice cold. Boyd has changed up their tier benefits also which I wasn’t too pleased about. The staff were great, especially housekeeping.
- 4/5
The airconditioner was making loud noise when we checked in, we had to call for maintenance and it got quieter after the filter is changed but it's still a bit noisy to us. The plate of the plug in the bathroom is loosen, I could move it when I unplug my hair dryer. Other than these, the room is clean and decent. I like the casino and the location of the hotel, it's walking distance to other hotels and some hotels are even connected from inside. You can easily go to other hotels to have difference options of food and casino.
- 5/5
Love the ALOHA spirit awesome staff customer service love it clean room we Enjoy our short vacation thank you California hotel for a memorable trip.
- 5/5
Excellent servicio, muy limpio !!!
- 3/5
Too much smoke in the casinos
- 4/5
California is nice property with quality hotel rooms. Much more affordable than similar resorts.
- 4/5
The breakfast was good , love that the cafe inside is 24/7 so if you come in late you can always get food . Casino area is very lively. Room was clean no issues except the ventilation in the bathroom was dusty and the ac unit was making a lot of noise and couldn't sleep sometimes . I heard that there’s the newer side of this hotel and that is better than the older side .
- 3/5
I stayed there because they said they still had live Keno and it was computer generated and no real ball machine so it was a damper on the trip, left early
- 4/5
Hotel was well maintained and clean. Staff were very helpful. The café restaurant food wasnt very good, so ate elsewhere after the 1st day.
- 4/5
A coffee maker in the room or water boiler would be so helpful! I requested either, but told not available.
- 5/5
Very close to Fremont street and nice and clean rooms
- 3/5
I didn't care for the people the room smelled
- 5/5
Definitely needs a Starbucks and another restaurant would be good.
- 4/5
We enjoyed our stay except the bathroom was very small. You had to shift your position to close the door.
- 5/5
Being from Oahu, The California Hotel is like being home. Everyone is friendly, I enjoyed the food and it’s right across from Fremont St. I will be back!
- 5/5
Had a blast with the family, can't wait to come back, core memories were created.
- 5/5
I liked it there. It was quieter than the other hotels that were closer to Fremont street, I liked that. There were a lot of people on the casino floor, lively but not too crazy. The only negative thing I can think of, is that the elevators weren't all working. Maybe 1 or 2 would be working only but you could always use the stairs. Also, the staff were friendly.
- 2/5
Slot machine's were very tight.
- 4/5
The rooms was clean except for the carpet. Only one elevator to the rooms was working so it was a long wait to go up and down. Then on the day of checkout the elevator to garage broke down. In all it was a great stay.
- 5/5
Clean room in more of a quiet location but close to everything. Casino busy but more of relaxed atmosphere.
- 4/5
Yes
- 5/5
Room clean. Frig available. No microwave or coffee maker available in room.
- 3/5
Dining has diminished in taste and quality. The hours have changed drastically to accommodate the high/low attendance.
- 5/5
I've stayed at the California many times over the years, and I have no complaints. I love the local food, being from Hawaii, it's a home away from home.

Very loud!! Even from a high floor we could distinctly hear all traffic and the club music all night. Room itself was fairly nice.
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Convenient
- 5/5
Great hotel. Looks well kept up. Friendly and courteous staff. Quieter than on Fremont Street but still close to everything.
- 4/5
Parking was great
- 5/5
Old but nice ...great hawaiian hospitality 😆
- 5/5
i would think that for what amenities are provided, a coffee pot in rooms could also be included otherwise i enjoyed my stay. room was quiet and bed was comfy
- 1/5
Everything needs improvement, very small refrigerator barely works, no coffee in room, dirty sheets, no microwave.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly, took good care of me
- 5/5
Very good experience all around.
- 4/5
Had a great stay with great hospitality

Our hotel room was on a non smoking floor. Our room was pretty much smoke free until three days before check out. Then I could smell smoke late at night. Our room window faced a 20 hours a day street party, so we could hear edm starting at 9am and live music at night until 2am. The room was dirty. There were little piles dirt in the corners. It was noticeable in the bathroom. The handle of the shower was loose. The sink drain stopper was also loose. The ceiling was a popcorn ceiling, leftover from when builders used hazardous materials. There was an island of lost clothes and items behind the tv stand, not to mention a lot of dust. Our tv remote stopped working and tv broke two days before check out. We called for maintenance. They never showed. The food in the Market Cafe, The Aloha, and California Noodle House was pretty good. They serve Asian and Hawaiian comfort food. Finding Rideshare was easy. They have a designated area for pickups and drop offs next to the entrance of the garage. There's also an Ethel M's chocolate shop on the second floor that sells delicious chocolates. There's no free drinking water, except for dining at a restaurant. We spent $24 on bottled water from the vending machine. There's plenty of gambling on the first floor and the second floor has a sky bridge to another casino. Next time, I'll stay on The Strip and save money in rideshares and away from the loud chaos of the Fremont Street Party.

Really appreciate the support of the General Manager and for DOO for additional events. Great place for LV!

This is our first time staying here. The parking garage was not hard to get in and out. The elevator would break and the other was out of order all weekend. The front desk was friendly and welcome speedy check in. The rooms were clean and spacious. The refrigerator was big and cold. Overall I would recommend to anyone.

Nice rooms although a bit dated. Good workout room. Basic internet was ok but a bit slow. Lobby and first floor was very smoky.
- 5/5
Pleasantly surprised with this location! Room was small, but beds and pillows were great. Location is awesome if you want to be downtown. Staff is friendly. A bit smoky due to smaller size.
- 4/5
My Room looked clean but dark. AC was loud however cool Bathroom was small, no one bigger than 180 lbs will fit in that space. Bedroom had limited space with 2queen sized beds in it.
- 3/5
My stay was ok, room was fine. Before I reserved, I asked the hotel if they had live Keno, they said they did but it turned out to be random generated computer, no maid service first day and third day. I left a few days early. Bummer

The room was clean but it smelled like casino smoke, not sure if it was coming through the vents. Even though the window was closed, we could hear all of the outside noise clear as day as if the window was open. There was only one elevator working for the parking garage which caused long lines to wait. They also charged the resort fees (over $100 than what we initially paid through Expedia) after the stay instead of upfront so beware of the extra charge after your stay.

The room was okay Carpet felt a little dirty. Shower was okay but the shower head was leaking. Room was far from the elevators. Went to check if there was a room closer but none available. One of the 3 elevator was not working so at times there was a very long wait. Restaurant was okay, food servers were very friendly, and very on it. Shout out them. When checking out front desk clerk was super nice, Shout out to her too.

The room was adequate but the bathroom was too small. It might help to remove the door to the shower area and add a curtain or "barn" door from the main room to the bathroom. This will make it more roomy.

Room had a slight smell. The hotel and the patrons are all of asian descent. I felt like the odd ball out. There were no good places to eat inside except breakfast was ok at the Market Street Cafe. Only good thing about this hotel is that its right next to the Freemont Center which has access to all the other hotels like Queensz Freemont, Circa, etc.
- 5/5
The staff was very welcoming and kind.

Room was clean and staff were great! Only complaint was not much room in the bathroom by the toilet and the shower.

Nice place 👌
- 4/5
Room was clean, facility clean
- 3/5
Somewhere in the hotel was under construction. I got woke up at 5:45 two mornings in a row. You go on vacation to rest and enjoy your time not get woke up by construction. The casino was extremely warm and kept me from even wanting to play in there. The 24 hour restaurant wasn’t necessarily 24 hours. I went down there one morning at 6:45 in the morning and the restaurant was closed I was told it would be open later. I went somewhere else to have my breakfast.
- 3/5
The rooms were nothing fancy, and at 6am there was some type of construction work in the building that woke us up.

- 5/5
Yes the room was nice and the staff was friendly. The only negative is that there is quite a bit of noise from events downtown until 10pm. For a week night that seemed unusual.
- 5/5
The facilities and location were perfect. Close to Fremont Street but not too close. Walkable to restaurants and areas of interest. My new go-to hotel in Vegas!
- 5/5
Clean hotel, great staff, convenient, dining
- 4/5
Clean room, great meal opportunities being adjacent to the Main Street station.
- 3/5
Everything great about the room except finding hair in the bathroom in the shower and around the sink… dust on the trim of the bathroom bureau. I’m a house keeper and always clean the bathrooms especially carefully. Dust means no one even wiped those areas with water and cleaner. Finding other people’s hair is unpleasant.
- 4/5
So I should start by saying it was our first time to Vegas... that said, we stayed for a week but weren't in love with the place but loved the location. The Fremont experience was close by and it was rainy and wild on NYE.... the good on California included free parking, friendly staff, and friendly guests. My complaints about the California include forgetting to clean our room 1 day, needing to ask for towels, having a connecting room with a loud neighbor, and a full drum set being vigorously played (1 day) at 4am by someone security said they couldn't do anything about. I should also mention the rooms don't have coffee makers so if you're a coffee drinker plan on hiking to Starbucks or paying $6 for a small cup of coffee at the bar. (We bought a 12 pack of cold coffee at the Walmart and kept it in our fridge. The general feeling was the hotel needed some updating... Then there's the smoking throughout the casino... you can't get to the elevators without breathing it. I expected it, but it did get old by day 7. So if the price is right I'd stay again, but I will be looking at other options if we come again.

Clean, comfortable great location... Far enough from the craziness, close enough to walk to it!
- 3/5
Room was great even though they gave me an upgraded room i only stayed in it to sleep. The bartender at the holo holo bar was rude and had a snippy attitude. Lastly i spoke with the lady at the desk the night before prior to checking out she told me they would be giving me my deposit back but the next day a different person said i owed theym.

THe whole place smells like cigarettes.
- 5/5
Yes
- 4/5
Did not have breakfast.
- 4/5
Nice little hotel. Had some issues with the parking garage - we shall see about that
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
It was very relaxing and peaceful
- 5/5
Room was spotless and daily housekeeping! Lobby was hot but we never stayed that long there.
- 5/5
Room was clean, modern, huge tv.
- 5/5
If you’re from Hawaii this place is as local as it gets. I first stayed here so that I can get my hands on rice while in Vegas, that and papaya for grandma make them real comfy.
- 5/5
Every encounter with staff was friendly and professional. We did have a problem with the thermostat which was quickly resolved. The only issue was having to walk through the smoke filled casino every time we went in or out of the lobby.
- 5/5
It was clean
- 5/5
Good service
- 5/5
Friendly staff decent room centrally located to Fremont
- 5/5
All of the above except for your beverage servers! No personality, grouchy, slow, forgetful, blameful! Other than that we truly enjoyed our stay and will be back!
- 5/5
Always enjoy my stays at the California. Five stars!
- 4/5
Nice showers and staff was friendly. Room service did our beds and towels before we returned to our rooms in the afternoon. The only issue was a sticking bathroom door that made a loud crack nose, waking everyone up.
- 3/5
Not accommodating like most hotels.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 3/5
Heater sound sooo big.
- 5/5
The reception attendant was extraordinarily helpful!
- 3/5
Breakfast at the buffet was good. There were a lot of non-breakfast items available too. Housekeeping could have been better for arrival. Dust on the bottom ledge of the picture frames, spots smeared on bathroom mirror, shower hose leaked at joint. Employees were nice and helpful and the bed was comfortable. The Wi-Fi company Cox is terrible. We were having connection issues and they basically refused to help me and refused to give me to a manager. Then my husband called and they fixed it right away for him.
- 5/5
The employees were great and helpful. The room could have been cleaned better. Dust on the picture frames, spots on the mirror. The shower leaked from the joint when on. It is near Fremont Street so it is very loud at night. Thankfully the fan on the ac/heater is louder so we would make the room cold enough to run all night. No blackout curtains, just wooden slots that did alright for blocking the light. Cox Internet is terrible and if you need support you have to talk to them. I would recommend the hotel change service providers if they can.
- 5/5
Local style restaurants were a pleasant surprise.
- 5/5
This Hotel has a nice laid back and comfy vibe.
- 5/5
Rooms were clean, friendly atmosphere. Always a great experience.
- 5/5
Entire experience was wonderful. Friendly staff, good service, nice clean room.
- 4/5
Major problem was temperature control--room was either 62 degrees or above 85 degrees. Had to learn by experience to turn off fan after room had been heated enough by the sun.
- 5/5
Great stay. I was looking for a nice hotel near Fremont at a great price. And this is it! I loved staying here. Very clean and excellent customer service. My air conditioning stopped working one afternoon but they fixed very fast. The guests here are also so nice and respectful. This is a perfect stay for people looking for some peace and quiet near Fremont. Getting ride share is also very easy from this hotel. I can’t recommend this place enough. Thank you!
- 3/5
A/C unit was very loud. Shower/toilet area was very cramped. No coffee maker in room. Elevators very slow.
- 5/5
Senior citizen friendly
- 5/5
Weʻll be back soon!

- 4/5
Another great stay. Best best accessibility to Fremont Street. California has great gambling. Only comment would be to improve noisy air conditioner in room.
- 2/5
Handicap rooms are the farthest walk from elevators. Rooms were very noisy with loud music till midnight every night. Bathrooms are tiny. If you’re taller than 5’9” and/or weigh more than 165 lbs., the shower stall will be small for you. Very disappointed with our rooms as I called to let them know we are 84 years old and walk with walkers. Food in Market Place was good.
- 3/5
That said, the front desk experience really needs improvement. Every time I check in, it feels like I’m getting interrogated instead of welcomed. When you’re paying to stay somewhere, you shouldn’t feel nervous or like you’re bothering someone by asking a simple question. I don’t expect special treatment, but a friendlier attitude would go a long way. For example, they’ll say things like “If you want to check in early it’s this much” or “just wait five more minutes,” but it’s all in the tone — it comes off as attitude instead of professional courtesy. A smile and a polite explanation would make all the difference. Overall, great location and clean rooms, but the customer service at the front desk could definitely use some warmth and better communication.
- 5/5
Prices here much better than on the strip. All restaurants here were good. Room was clean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The casino had the press your luck slots, which is my favorite game to play.
- 4/5
It just alright. The sink was clogged, luckily hubby able to fix it.
- 4/5
Great value
- 4/5
Good
- 5/5
I admit I had reservations when I read the age of the hotel, but everything and every one was great! I really enjoyed my stay. If I had to nitpick, the bed wasn’t that comfortable, but doable.
- 5/5
very satisfied with the casino, except pool is close a lot.
- 5/5
Staff and room were great very friendly and accommodating
- 4/5
I liked the different choices of food, but if you don't like cigar/cigarette smoke, this is not the hotel/casino for you!
- 4/5
Bathroom was very nice except toilet area was small, my leg touched the toilet paper roll when I was sitting. The carpet in the room is old, it's time to replace it. The property was clean throughout. I love eating at Aloha Specialties.
- 5/5
The room was spacious, clean and updated. Plenty of dining and snack options and all were very good. Hotel was easy to get to as it's close to the highway. Very convenient to walk to Fremont Street for entertainment with no worries about parking. It was nice having the bridge to Main Street Station for additional options. In addition, the staff was extremely friendly! Our stay at California Hotel made for an awesome vacation!!
- 5/5

Better than anticipated. It was my first time staying at the California Hotel. It was the perfect location. The room was so wonderful and services were great. Making it my new "go to" place.
- 4/5
Should of had more staff on restaurants
- 5/5
The property is dated but actually comfortable and convenient in price and location to enjoy the Fremont experience.
- 5/5
Convenient property with Aloha spirit. Walkable to the Fremont Street Experience without the noise. Food options on property are great. We would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly, rooms were clean, a/c didn’t get as cold as we were hoping for, but it kept the room cool enough, mini fridge struggled to get cold and gave up on the second day/night there.
- 5/5
Aloha spirit is felt here!
- 5/5
Hawaii food
- 5/5
No restaurante no refrigerador
- 5/5
Love this hotel. We’ll be back again
- 5/5
Walkable to many dining & shopping
- 5/5
This place is proven! If you like the Hawaiian vibes this is the place to be! Friendly staff, clean rooms, food is great especially at market street cafe!
- 5/5
Love the Hawaii atmosphere
- 4/5
Fine for the price . Room was clean, staff was nice . No microwave in room or anywhere in hotel for guests . No complementary coffee or tea or water.
- 5/5
only thing disappointing was no coffee maker or microwave in the room
- 4/5
Bed was not comfortable
- 4/5
Typical Vegas price gouging in effect here $5.00 a cup mediocre coffee downstairs, oh and the resort fee ripoff game. If you can get the room at a decent price, walk down the street to Dennys for coffee and don't play the slot machines (your not going to win anything, here or anywhere on Fremont St) you should be ok!
- 5/5
I liked the local feel
- 5/5
Nice place
- 5/5
Very nice place. Clean and quiet
- 4/5
Loved the location!
- 5/5
Comfortable room
- 4/5
Only 1 negative: there was NO where to get a cup of coffee!! It’s a hotel! There should be a coffee counter for guest to get free coffee anytime during the day!!!!
- 5/5
The food choices were very good.
- 5/5
It had a lot less people than hotel on strip. Very nice ad managable
- 4/5
Loved the location and the room.
- 5/5
Did not get her name but she was a person of color and really focused on doing her very best. Really want to extend a huge "Mahalo"!
- 4/5
Housekeeping keep waking’s us early in the morning
- 5/5
Reasonable price for the type of room
- 5/5
It was a great experience. The staff was very friendly.

Safety and friendly service
- 5/5
The California was a great hotel to stay in. It has many dining options, and the parking was very easy. The staff was super nice. I’d definitely would stay here again.
- 5/5
Great stay for the price. Excellent staff and service. Would prefer drapes to shutters in rooms.
- 5/5
Easy parking
- 4/5
It's a old hotel but it's still great 👍 property
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay. Definitely will be back.

"Visited Hotel California in Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday, July 25. Overall, it was good. The hotel and service were fine. The only issue was the toilet in the bathroom, which needed to be flushed multiple times to drain. The sink was also draining slowly. Reported the issue, but it wasn't fixed. That's the only thing that bothered me a bit. Everything else was liked."
- 3/5
My HVAC unit was making a crazy loud noise. The zone valve solenoid was banging extremely loud, like smacking sheet metal with drunk sticks. I asked for maintenance and Danny showed up. Danny didn’t know I’m a facilities manager so I know alot about water source heat pumps. I left to go for a bite and when I returned Danny left a note stating it was “fixed”. What did Danny do? He shut off the water valves to the unit leaving me with no cooling and since the unit was not cooling the valve noise went away. I had to restore water to get cooling back but the noise returned. He could have wired the valve to stay open until the end of my stay but instead he just lied and said he fixed it. I had Horrible sleep because of this.

Smoking hotel.
- 5/5
Pleasant surprise, I enjoyed a beautiful, clean room and excellent service! Would stay here over most places in the Fremont district.
- 5/5
Great service

I stayed in room 909 and it smelled like they hadn’t clean in weeks. There was dust everywhere. The was dirty in the corners. I booked last minute.
- 5/5
The Redwood Restaurant, inside Hotel California, was wonderful, even though a bit pricey!!

California. If you know, you know.

I didn’t notice this until less than 24 hours before check-in time when I checked my reservations. I called the hotel, they said only the 3rd party could cancel, chatted with Hotel.com, they said they would follow up on it and that the hotel may charge me a cancellation fee & or the full price of 2nd room. When I checked into the hotel and explained the error of booking a 2nd room, the clerk was so kind and understanding and she said she would remove the 2nd booking with no charge. I later received an email from Hotel.com stating they could not fix or change the error on the second booking. Going forward, maybe Hotel.com can include a pop up message when a customer who normally books one room (based on customer’s booking history) & books two rooms, a message can pop up reading “you have already booked one room do you still need a 2nd room?”. Overall the experience at the California Hotel & Casino was great!
- 5/5
Great hotel.
- 4/5
great stay in downtown free parking for guests
- 5/5
Great location, nicer than I expected. Only a block from Fremont street. Good restaurant choices int the hotel and near by. Only thing we didn't like was not enough chairs at the pool and no tables/umbrellas(for shade, my husband has cancer and needed to be in the shade)
- 1/5
Could not get a refund.
- 3/5
The property is 12 floors, but the elevator starts on the 13th floor! It was written free internet, 2 pools, and breakfast for $6!! It was a big lie. I found just one small pool, breakfast for $30, and internet for $37 per day!
- 4/5
The rooms were good, the bed comfortable. The elevators in the parking lot were out of service for our 2 day stay, causing much confusion. We’re seniors and need the elevators. The air conditioning in most of the casino was not working well, making it very warm and stuffy. The restaurant Market Street Cafe was not good at all. The quality of the food has gone downhill. Sad because at one time we really enjoyed eating there. Maybe that’s why the restaurant was pretty empty when we went. We go 3 or 4 times a year, we keep trying hoping for improvement, but it’s steadily getting worse.
- 5/5
Staff is always fantastic. They are both kind and helpful. Facilities always very clean too.
- 5/5
I love the California Hotel because I’m from Hawaii and the Market Street Cafe serves local food. Also it’s close to Fremont Street which is very convenient.
- 5/5
Grandmother 100th birthday my tutu has been staying here 80 years
- 4/5
The area was safe and a short walk to The Plaza and Fremont Street. They need more dining options and the ice cream/coffee shop needs to stay open later in the evening.
- 3/5
The property itself is ok, the have to wings. The wing we were in was very small and the lighting was pretty bad. The Toilet and shower are was really small. If you needed to use the toilet you would have to straddle the Toilet to close the door. The lighting in the hallways was very dim, and kind of seedy.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay. The agent that checked us in was kind and courteous. Jasper at the Bell Desk was amazing.
- 5/5
We had a lovely day, the room as well appointed and clean
- 4/5
Service is great . Room is clean. Only thing is smoking smell always in the lobby. Not really good for kids
- 4/5
Loved our stay. Limited dining options & almost nothing for guest with a gluten allergy.
- 5/5
What I didn't like was to this date I've been at the California Hotel twice this year and both times it seems they have an elevator problem first time which was in February 2 elevators were non functioning & just this June one elevator was not functioning in same tower.
- 5/5
The California hotel was easily accessible from and to the airport. The staff was friendly and accommodating.
- 5/5
Convenient

Another great stay at the Cal. Valet, check in, maid service was wonderful.
- 5/5
Had a wonderful time
- 3/5
The rug had stained and sink was clogged around the vanity had pinkish spots around the area. Other than that is was okay.
- 5/5
Well, a couple front end staff wasn't as friendly as expected.
- 4/5
Close to Fremont district- smelled too much like cigarettes
- 3/5
I didn't like how uninviting the staff was or how small the bathroom was, no place to dress in a two queen room. I had a family of 4 and it was a challenge getting ready.
- 5/5
Clean rooms, friendly service. Will be booking this hotel the next trip
- 4/5
I always enjoy staying at the California for its cleanliness, quietness and its within clise distance to Frmont street.

Food in hotel was terrible, location was ok. Pool was closed and per website was open.
- 4/5
So, things changed right before our trip, and needed more room in bathroom. Asked for room change and they accommodated us and things were better after change. Plus we love the local food options from Hawaii.
- 5/5
Clean helpful. polite good service
- 3.5/5
The staff at market street Cafe were inattentive. Only came to table to take order, drop off food and drinks and that's it. Had to get someone to get our check.
- 2.5/5
The entire hotel smelled like cigarettes
- 2/5
Staff forgets to validate our carpass & we pay $30 later waived if we didn¿t ask as a hotel guest, no directions inside parking area. Strong cigarette scent in Casino area. No microwave nor Keurig coffee machine in our room, small room and bathroom.
- 4.5/5
It is weird that this amazing hotel doesn¿t have a bathtub, a feature available in many lesser hotels.
- 3.5/5
The room was a lot smaller than our last stay. The smoking is terrible.
- 5/5
No complaints
- 4/5
