“Very clean hotel with a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. The staff was extremely kind, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay. I was especially impressed because they took the time to mail me a diamond necklace that I accidentally left behind. I honestly didn’t think I would get it back, but they went above and beyond to return it to me. Truly excellent service and highly recommended.

We had a very nice stay. Staff was excellent, very friendly and helpful.We parked our car and didn't use it. Trolley runs when it runs very undependable. App was in the process of getting revamped and new drivers training so it may get better.

The lodge was okay but is expected for a 2.5 star rating. The kitchen amenities were useuful although a few appliances like the TV and microwave werent working. The balcony was the highlight of the trip

Such an amazing hotel our room had a beach view and private balcony. Our bed faced the ocean, it doesn’t get much better than that.

Our stay at the Laguna Surf Lodge was absolutely lovely. To begin with, the room was cute, modern, and very clean. The views from the hotel were absolutely stunning! There are various areas to enjoy the ocean view and sunset. Also, the staff were so kind and friendly. Additionally, we really enjoyed how we were walking distance to so many places.

Absolutely love this place .. I’ve stayed other places in Laguna but this place out does them all . First off the staff is amazing friendly kind and helpful, love love my view I stayed in room 305 !!! Ask for that room thank me later . Thanks for the best memories

Went for our 15+ anniversary and had a wonderful overnight stay (only one night due to parental restrictions.) The room had a great view.. albeit there was an extended roof beneath us. The location was well-suited for walking and was close to Amazing restaurants and a Ralph’s grocery store. The staff including valet, were super helpful. The morning coffee did not disappoint, either (tea was also available). Would definitely have stayed the entire weekend if we could have. Don’t forget your refillable water cantina.. they have a refill station in their welcome area.

We had the 1 bedroom suite. It was clean but the Bathroom is extremely small and our view from the bedroom was the parking lot. So unfortunately for privacy purposes we didn’t open the curtains. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Absolutely loved staying here. Stayed in room with a queen and bunk beds. Teen aged children slept comfortably in bunk bed. The room, hotel and beach were extremely clean. Direct beach access was a plus for my child with mobility issues; hotel provided towels, chairs and umbrellas for the beach. Staff was nice and helpful. It was a relaxing stay, would definitely stay here again.

Stayed for two nights with a friend. Really enjoyed the property and amenities. Loved the beach chairs and umbrellas for guests to use. Private beach access was awesome. Room was comfortable and clean and I was stoked to get a great room with an ocean view!! Close to tons of great restaurants and lots to do. Would love to stay again. My wife and I stayed here for your honeymoon. We had a booking complication where I didn’t get the room I was expecting from the photo they had on Expedia. However the hostess Katie sorted it out and gave us an upgrade that over looked the ocean as showed on the room I originally booked. The view was stunning and magical. We’re glad we stayed here and wished be book a few extra days to enjoy it a little longer. Everything around us was within a 5-10 min walking distance, which was a huge plus that we didn’t have to drive around and look for parking to enjoy Laguna beach. I defiantly recommend staying here. Thanks Katie for being such a great hostess, hopefully we get to see you the next time we stay in Laguna beach!

One of the things we appreciated most were all the thoughtful amenities. Having beach chairs, umbrellas, and towels provided made our trip so much easier, especially traveling with a toddler. It was such a nice touch and really helped us relax and enjoy our time at the beach without the extra hassle. The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and accommodating throughout our stay. Everyone made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Laguna Beach.

Best view in all of Laguna beach the room was so nice the highlight was the staff and valet from Tyson to Katie to Gabe to Kyle 10 star service we will be visiting again and are so thankful they made sure our days on vacation were very special thank you all so much!!!

A little piece of heaven on hearth :)

We were blown away by this hotel. I can't remember another time where I've checked into a hotel and just stayed there to soak in the sights and amenities - even the day of checkout we stayed until the last minute - and so did plenty of other guests. Check-in was easy, the room had all kinds of wellness gadgets such as soothing sound-maker, essential oil diffuser, special shampoo/conditioner. Excellent coffee is served all day long with a variety healthy creamers and sweeteners such as pure cane sugar. Every room appeared to be different, many with private balconies, I'm sure all overlooking the sea. As its namesake there were surfers in the evening and morning. There are terraces with comfortable couches, firepits and umbrellas overlooking the sea. This is a perfect refuge to unwind, but still be in the heart of Laguna Beach a 10 all round.

Pros: The location is the star. Boutique feel, clean rooms, comfortable bed, and thoughtful touches — the diffuser, yoga mat, and mini fridge all land well. Staff was consistently kind and accommodating. The grounds are relaxed and charming. Private beach access is a real perk, and being set away from the main beach crowds was genuinely refreshing — Walkable to good restaurants, shops, and a grocery store. Cons: My room — the Peaceful Ocean King with balcony terrace — was quite small and not so peaceful. First, the balcony and patio consumed much of the square footage, which I could accept, but the ocean view is partial, blocked by the roof of possibly parking area. The hotel is due for updates, not obvious initially, but peeling paint on the exterior. Walls are paper thin. Sitting on the enclosed patio, you're in everyone else's conversation. We tracked our upstairs neighbors' every move. And heard every sound from our neighbors on each side. No closet storage, no in-room coffee (daily trek to the main office, and no TV or phone — which fits the vibe. All in all, an enjoyable stay but I'm not sure I'd return.

This is a darling hotel right in the heart of everything in Laguna Beach. The rooms are pretty small and there is not very much storage. But if you are just going for a weekend getaway, this is a perfect hotel.

Convenient location, friendly and service minded staff. Beautiful views of the sunset and fun amenities like the fire pit and smores.

Everything about it was beautiful. I guess the only true downside was having no TV.

We were thrilled to return to what was once the Laguna Riviera, now the Laguna Surf Lodge, after honeymooning there 35 years ago. Upon check-in Kyle asked if we'd ever stayed at the property and he was so kind as to offer us the same room - albeit a beautifully renovated version! We were treated like family by Kyle, Gabe and all of the staff and feel this updated version of a classic hotel is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the calm of the ocean, stunning sunsets and all of Laguna's beautiful attractions.

Can’t beat the location; however, front office staff was not the friendliest and not willing to accommodate or consider a late check-out. Valet staff was super friendly. Rooms don’t have tv and are very small but overall wasn’t bad for a one night stay.

I will treat anyone to a meal at one of the eateries recommended by this place if they can find a hotel that beats Laguna Beach Surf Lodge in level of customer service. Kyle and Gabe (manager and valet) convey pure pleasure at serving you, talking to you, getting right on whatever you need. I forgot how much of a difference it makes to be welcomed this way. Beyond that, its location, location, location. You can’t turn around without being awestruck and nurtured by beauty, fresh tangy air, and nooks and crannies to perch and take it all in. This old lady of a hotel has charm out the wazoo. It also needs a bit of coddling, but the staff does everything within their power and then some to make it right. For a fairly affordable stay in paradise, you will do yourself a favor by booking your stay at Laguna Beach Surf Lodge and let the team and the property work its magic. We cant wait to return.

With this property being right on the beach and my room overlooking the ocean, my stay at the Laguna Surf Lodge was the perfect escape from the daily grind. Everything one needs is within walking distance. I only left the property to run on the beach, go eat at one of the many great restaurants, or walk around town to sight see. Thanks again for a great vacation. I'll definitely be back.

This will be my new favorite place to go. The views are just spectacular. I've stayed at hotels all up and down the coast and this was the best! Valet guys were great too, always available and helpful.

Every thing was spectacular

Cute quaint hotel. We loved the double balcony with swings, as it allowed us ocean views when it was cold outside. Gabe in valet was really helpful with our car. The front desk was on it witg anything we asked. The hot tub was super hot which was great because the pool was super cool. Only suggestions would be bring binoculars and a blanket for the patio at night

Privacy was also a concern, as the window blinds were thin enough that someone could easily see through them. Additionally, it was quite noisy in the mornings, which made it difficult to rest. There was no TV in the room, which wasn’t a major issue, but we had hoped to relax and unwind in the evenings. That said, the staff was wonderful, gracious, and very accommodating throughout our stay.

From the moment Brodie checked us in, to the moment Kyle checked us out, the staff was awesome. Gabe, the Valet was very helpful. The view from our balcony of the ocean was amazing.

Great location above a beach with easy stair access to the sand and terraced areas to sit and enjoy the view. Staff was very friendly (shout out to Tyson at the front desk and Gabe, the valet!). My room (519 above reception) has recently been remodeled and has a partial ocean view. A bit of street noise from PCH will affect sleep if you keep a window open. Some rooms are apparently not renovated. Friends staying in 308 reported at outdated bathroom. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Good value for the money in an expensive area.

The rooms are comfortable and relaxed. Soothing music and aromatherapy welcomes you when you walk in. The staff is helpful and efficient. When they heard we were celebrating my husband’s 70th birthday, a bottle of sparkling wine was in our room when we arrived. The view from our suite was fabulous, and the huge private deck was incredible. Private access to the beach is such a nice amenity.

No TV. Old wooden building in need repair and paint. Decks have ocean views but over a roof top; they don't overlook the beach. Very friendly and helpful staff.

The hotel is older and the rooms are VERY loud. You can hear everything your neighbors do. Do not expect to sleep in as you can hear every footstep, every door open and close, the toilet flush, shower turn on. The staff is wonderful and the location can't be beat.

Lovely property with stunning views, within walking distances of lovely eateries. Staff was lovely, accommodating, room was lovely with stunning views, own patio overlooking Pacific. Bed was extremely comfortable and soft calming music playing, essential oils for aroma. Access to beach via steep pathway. Sustainable practices and love the ownership gives back to their community and worthy causes with a portion of their profits. Surfing classes nearby. Property has a cute pool, hot tub area and a sundry’s store at the office. Book your stay, you will not regret it.

We had an excellent stay at Laguna Surf Lodge. We wish we could give over 5 stars! Staff is extremely friendly and always willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. Valet parking is super accommodating and the room is spectacular! We really enjoyed the space and the wonderful view of the ocean from their fire pit area. We are already talking about coming back here soon! We look forward to returning!

My room was super cute and had a sound machine and a diffuser, which was an awesome and unique touch. There were if you nice spots to sit and look at the ocean and relax. Wonderful location I got so much walking in! I don’t often like to go back to the same places as I love to see new things, but I think I will be back! Well done!

The T.V, after a long day of walking laguna, being at the beach and in the sun, it's nice to hit the bed early, lounge and put on a show. Just a few things I think need to change. Other than that, we love the hotel and the location.

We visit Laguna at least 3 times a year, and have never stayed at Laguna Surf Lodge so we weren’t sure what to expect. But we had the most amazing experience, the services was 5 star and so was the room. The views absolutely took our breath away. We had dinner reservations at the Montage but decided to cancel and enjoy the balcony of our room instead. The hotel also was in a great area, not too far from the downtown shops and restaurants.

The staff were friendly and provided good customer service, which I appreciated. However, the overall stay was extremely uncomfortable. The room did not have a microwave, requiring me to go to the lobby to use one, which was highly inconvenient. The room 410 had very poor sound insulation — I could clearly hear every footstep from guests upstairs, as well as housekeeping noise before bedtime and early in the morning. As a result, I was unable to get proper rest. Given these issues, the price paid was not worth the stay. This level of noise, inconvenience, and lack of basic in-room amenities is unacceptable.

The room was clean and had a stunning view. The porch was nice. However, the valet person was having a bad day and tried to pass this onto us.

Rooms could be cleaner

This is one of my favorite hotels in Laguna beach, its recently also been renovated so its better than ever!

I cannot say enough about this hotel. From the proximity to the ocean to the staff and the surrounding area. If I could give it more than five stars I would. It’s absolutely amazing. The staff goes anbove and beyond to make things excellent. The ocean is right there. The beach is amazing. Will absolutely stay here again. However, they do not have TVs in the room so that is if that is important, you may not like it.

The rooms have been updated, but there are still some issues with doors and windows that don't open and close properly and some dead bugs on the window aill

Additionally when we requested items or asked about situations, the staff looked at us with a blank stare like asking for toilet paper refilled, refreshing our towels and such was a complete shock... OH and then, we had to pick up the toilet paper in the lobby and load it back ourselves. It was the worst hotel customer service I think we have ever had. We are not paying hundreds of dollars to be our own housekeepers.....

This was our 4th visit in 5 years. The newish management/owners have done a fine job with rehab/upgrading the rooms. The staff are friendly and helpful. The views from most ocean-facing rooms are terrific and the common areas are comfortable and clean. We'll be back.

We had a beautiful room with a balcony overlooking the surf. Front desk and valet staff were extremely helpful (Jimmy & Gabe). Great location close to beach and walking distance to restaurants. Nice pool and Jacuzzi, however shower at pool didn't work. No hot water, only a dribble of cold. But in general a fantastic experience.

First of all, we loved the property - being right on the beach with chairs, umbrellas, and towels all at no additional charge. The front desk manager Tyson was an awesome host, giving us access to our room early so we could enjoy the property. Would absolutely stay again!

Great location, easy access to beach. Room was small and could hear neighbors, but still really nice.

The staff was wonderful. Every single staff member was respectful, helpful and attentive. Overall the stay was great, however we were placed facing the street. It was incredibly noisy due to the main street traffic. In addition, there is no central unit of air conditioning it is a portable AC unit so the window has to be cracked open furthering the noisiness and moths/flies coming in. In addition, when the shower is running, the pipes emit a high frequency ringing pitch that amplifies in the bathroom making the shower a bit unpleasant if you are sensitive to those types of noises. (Can create headaches). Lastly, I woke up with bumps all over my body I believe due to the bedding. Overall the stay was convenient and staff was kind.

Very nice. Relaxing amazing views and access to the beach. Getting coffee in the lobby was kind of a bummer. Hitting/pool area is okay. Open air colors of dirt in the hot tub. Was older but also kind of nostalgic, kitchy and very bohemian. Overall great hotel. Will come back.

The pool the best part and the fact that is dog friendly we loved it. The views are amazing and is very easy to access to the beach.

The whole place is being remodeled. Crappy beat up couches. No chairs or tables. Beat up kitchen. Tiny TV's with some kind of streaming only. BR TV stopped working and staff couldn't get it working again. Nothing like the pictures. Staff was terrific. Great location but room sucked.

I stayed in the Premium Ocean Front Junior Suite and it was such a great experience. The hotel feels really well taken care and welcoming as soon as you walk in. The room itself was very clean and the view from the balcony was unbelievable. The staff were also amazing. Everyone I spoke with was super friendly. The front desk especially was very helpful with any questions I had. The bathroom was super clean with a huge walk-in shower, and I loved that the room had a big mirror too. Overall, the hotel felt peaceful and relaxing , and the staff made it even better. I’d definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a place in Laguna.

We spent two nights here while touring colleges. Location is incredible and loved the amenities! Beach chairs, games, volleyballs etc. the hot coffee and tea in the lobby was a welcome touch as well. The valets are awesome and so helpful. We will stay here again.

Property was nice, staff was great and attentive. Bathroom needs more counter space or shelving. Rooms were spacious. Hot tub needed cleaning. Pool was good. Nice stay overall.

The property itself is beautiful! Plenty of outdoor areas to sit and enjoy the epic ocean views. There is a nice beach right in front of the hotel with chairs and umbrellas as well as some boogie boards for the kids. The location in Laguna Beach is the best! You are a 5-10 minute walk to Main Beach—close enough, but not right in the middle of weekend chaos. There are also restaurants and shops steps away. Plus, the free summer trolley stops right in front of the hotel. We did not use our car the entire trip :) The staff at this hotel was the cherry on top. Helpful and always available to answer questions. From the front desk to the valet and everyone in between, we never encountered anyone who was not happy to see us. I have already recommended this hotel to friends and family and look forward to our next visit!

Overall was a very nice hotel and great location. After entering our room for the first time, we found hanging dirty towels behind the bathroom door. Housekeeping needs to take their time because we found the towels and a couple dirty areas which should’ve been cleaned up. The property was nice and had easy beach access. Fun to sit and watch the surfers. Great location close to downtown.

Location and room was great and clean.

This hotel was absolutely amazing to say the least. We had an ocean view suite with balcony. I did not expect a small kitchen with our room which was a great. When you walk out the back sliding door we had a balcony platform with lounge chairs, small table and 2 small dining chairs. The view was SPECTACULAR!! You can hear the waves crash while sitting inside of your suite. There was a sitting area with a pull out couch with a super cozy twin size bed sofa thing (not sure what it’s called). The room we stayed in was 507. BOOK THIS ONE! price was not bad for the location and beach view. On top of everything the hotel has its own private beaches and they provide beach chairs, umbrellas, outdoor shower, and even a personal speaker if you forgot yours at home. There is also a private pool and spa onsite. Valet only here but worth it. We brought a large SUV and there was plenty of space so we didn’t have to worry about door dings. Staff was friendly and helpful. You are in walking distance from plenty of restaurants, Ralph’s grocery, gas station, coffee shops, bar, and souvenirs. We will return again!

Now, my favourite place In Laguna, i was at the different hotels there, mire expensive, but this one the best in everything! Location, stuff, beach! Privacy! Love you guys

The room was clean, the staff were exceptionally friendly, and the view was absolutely stunning.

Loved everything about the lodge and the staff

Having beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards was convenient. The room was labeled "peaceful" but it was not quiet at all. Street noise kept us awake half the night and a neighbor opening and closing the door constantly kept us up the other half the night. This was made worse by the super loud squealing portable air conditioner that required the window be open since the mini-split AC unit was broken. The small pool was OK but cold, could have used a good scrubbing. Staff was friendly, although not available until 7am if you are an early riser. For $500 per night, it's not remotely worth it. Parking is valet only and costs extra, no type of breakfast or on-site eating is available.

We were surprised to find kitchens in the room with nothing but a coffee maker. The place needs repair from ocean climate.

Celebrated my daughters 13th birthday here. Everything was great. Customer service, the room and views and the amenities. Beach access and pool were great! I will definitely come back.

Laguna Surf Lodge is a best kept secret! We loved the family feel and location on the beach!

We loved the friendly, hard working staff. They welcomed us and our wedding party for the most enjoyable stay! Their outdoor seating and gathering places gave us opportunity to hang out with friends & family while enjoying an amazing view. We loved the Laguna Surf Lodge, and we will be back!

In need of paint and refresher on outside. Rooms are clean and nice, dated, but is basically just a bed, so it’s very quaint. Music and diffuser on upon entrance, nice view of ocean. Next door to a roof top and room was on ground floor. The area slopes downward back towards the ocean. Constant noise from door outside of room. Which turns out to be the service door. Wall very thin. Floors very thin. Very hard to get a good nights rest. Room is completely blacked out with shade but light from some sort of carbon monoxide detector kept going off. Don’t notice it during the day but in pitch black darkness it’s sleep disturbing. Room very humid. We kept hearing a lot of bumping going up til 1030 p.m. Then again 8am-11:30am. I go to the front to complain and learn sewage came up from shower in another room so they were working on that. We asked for another room and only 1 was available. No a/c, no ocean view, no balcony. We decided to tough it out with what we had. She did accommodate and refund the valet and resort fee. Later that night there were bumps coming from upstairs and we learned there was a toddler running the show upstairs. The amount of bumps in a minute was insane. This kid was performing til 11pm. We finally got sleep but at 5am staff is arriving and our room next to the service entrance picked up every bump, door opening, and any drop of clumsiness. The peace and serenity promised, we definitely did not get. The staff was very nice but this trip was a waste $$$$

The rooms were clean and comfortable, the soft music playing and the diffuser was a lovely touch, it was like being in a spa, there was complementary tea and coffee in the mornings in the reception area, the outdoor seating and fit pits with the view of the sea was lovely.

Delightful boutique hotel right on the beach. Super friendly staff, clean facilities. Steep pathway to the beach, but worth it for a slice of heaven. They supply beach chairs, towels, & umbrellas so just show up! We hope to return!

Very relaxing vacation—hotel/rooms seem to be renovated well. Liked the sound machine, comfortable bed, yoga mat and having a fridge was a huge plus. Coffee was great. A huge benefit to be right on the beach with chairs and umbrellas. Great location. We enjoyed our stay here.

Quaint property. The location was excellent and walkable to shops and restaurants. The room was spacious and clean.

The room itself was too small with only a bed in the middle of it. The weather was poor and we wound up staying inside for quite some time but there were no chairs or table. We wound up sitting on the bed for hours. No TV either. Very little counter space in the room or the bathroom. Service lagged from when we asked for it until we got it. Needed to ask more than once. Parking is non-existent except for valet which cost $38 a day. Amenities cost $25 a day and we basically got nothing for it except 2 beach chairs and an umbrella for 2 days. We won't be going back.

Great room, nice staff. There are several places to sit outside and enjoy the view of the ocean. We watched dolphins and a surf competition right from the beach. Would definitely come her again.

This place was great. The location is perfect if you like to walk around and explore & the beach behind the hotel is excellent. The staff was always very helpful and friendly.

This was one of the best hotel stays I have ever experienced. The check in process was easy and quick. Andrew who works the front desk, was kind, warm and extremely efficient. Gabe, the valet was attentive and addressed me by my name even though I didn't remember him! I can't wait to return later in the summer.

Beautiful hotel with a breath taking view of the ocean, steps from the sand and ocean. It just does not get any better. Booked the room for 1 day and it just wasnt long enough. Planning another visit soon!!! Staff was great, extremely helpful and accomodating.

The staff was amazing, Arron at the front desk was incredible. We loved the hotel so much we didn’t want to leave. The views were beautiful and we could walk everywhere. Access to the beach was perfect.

The staff is really friendly and helpful. Location to downtown is walkable. The Lodge is on the beach with security gate to access the walkway up to the Lodge. Beautiful landscaping on the path down to the beach and up from the beach. Beach towels, lounge chairs and beach umbrellas available. Highly recommended 😀

Very clean and well maintained property. We had a beautiful ocean front suite with 1.5 bthrms. The private balcony with lounge chairs and umbrella with an unobstructed view of the ocean was perfect. All of the staff were friendly and very helpful. We will be back. Lots of eateries and a grocery store are just a block away. The beach is clean and pretty. Boogie boards, umbrellas and lounge chairs are offered as part of the resort fee.

The staff is what really puts this place on the next level and helps set the tone for the stay. Bravo!

Very clean and nice location close to the center of town. The staff were friendly and very helpful! We appreciated the beautiful views and easy access to the beach. The pool and hot tub are lovely and well maintained. There was a small leak in our room under the bar sink. The bathroom did not have a fan. Other than those very minor issues we loved our stay!

Beautiful, convenient location, very private & eco friendly. We felt like we had the place to ourself! Great shared spaces that are really very private. Staff and owners felt like family after only 4 days! Couldn't recommend this place more strongly, truly one of the most relaxing places in Laguna Beach!

My family and I recently stayed at the Laguna Surf Hotel. The staff and amenities were exceptional! The room was spotless and comfortable, only a short walk to the oceans floor! The hotel’s location was perfect, we were able to walk to so many different restaurants and a short walk to the Main beach and shopping! All of the valet attendants were speedy, friendly, and professional especially Gabe.Thank you for the memorable trip.

We loved the view from the room, the yoga mat, bed spray, and the essential oil. The complementary tea and coffee were great too. The location was excellent! We will be back!

Loved the property and the oceanfront room. AMAZING ROOM! The only disappointment was the ‘AMENITIES FEE’. on top of the $38 valet fee….. a bit much…. Don’t cha think 🤔

Having said all that, I would stay here again for the location on the beach, with direct beach access, they even have complimentary beach lounges and umbrellas. Best part is amazing decks with ocean views. Walking out of the room into a deck with a million dollar view is worth it. All the little inconveniences pale in comparison. Walking distance to restaurants, shops. Just have right expectations about the facilities, tho everything is well maintained. Room was cleaned upon request without issue. I have to comment on customer service. It is rare these days to have this level of customer service- quick , courteous, and friendly. Overall 5 star experience, but I had to take one star out for how basic the rooms and facilities are. Keep in mind $38 parking fee.
