We enjoyed our stay. Everything was super close walking distance. Cresent beach was a quick walk, trolly picked us up outside the hotel and dropped us off anywhere near laguna. However, I di believe the property could be a little more detailed as far as cleanliness. Pool was not heated even though they said it was. So we didnt get in. The bed was nice and clean bathroom bathtub not so much. Those are all things we can over look for everything else. Price was good, convenience even better

The underground parking was very convenient. It was too far from the downtown area to walk. Our room was very humid for some reason and there was a handle missing from the chest of drawers. The hot water heater was broken but they did have it replaced the following day and the manager did say she was going to take some $ off of our reservation to compensate for that.

Nice boutique hotel located close to shops and restaurants. A little dated yet very clean and spacious. Not very good installation so bottom rooms can hear upper level stomping around. Well priced for the location.

This is the second time we've stayed here. The one thing we noticed this time is the staff was really helpful. The rooms are clean and we loved the two sink giant bathroom. Breakfast was just a continental but there was enough to satisfy. There is underground parking here. It was wonderful to have to not look for parking or paying for it. Staying here is great to be able to walk to a few nice beaches and note have to look for parking. Because, when staying in Laguna be prepared to pay for parking everywhere. We would stay again.

Such a nice hotel! Very clean, staff is very helpful. The rooms are remodeled beautifully. The only thing would be the beds are insanely loud, from rolling over to getting up the mattress or the base makes the loudest noises. Beds were comfortable just loud. The stay was great

Great location (across the road from the beach) and excellent value. It's a nice place, not necessarily swanky or fancy, but suitable. The rooms are actually really spacious, which was nice. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. I took the recommendation of another reviewer and requested a room AWAY from the main road, which served us well (quieter).

The staff were very nice. The room was okay. Nice beds. Bathroom had some water damage on the base boards and shower looked nice but needed to be cleaned better in the corners(little moldy). Air conditioner was super loud but it just became white noise and I slept fine. Their water heater can’t keep up with the demand of the hotel and I had to give my kids a cold shower at 7 pm after a day at the beach. They were pissed. I’m surprised I didn’t get the cops called to my room. Pool was a little sad. Continental breakfast is nothing to be desired. My stay was just okay. Not worth the price I paid but I would stay again if the price was closer to $175ish. I paid $348 a night. Overall had a good time in Laguna and this place was fine, just not worth what I paid.

Room was okay staff was great the only thing I didn’t like was how you can hear everything from everyone’s room. You can hear footsteps walking at all hours, woke up at 5am to someone walking the damn carpet. Lol

Everything was so great in this hotel. Top to bottom, the service, cleanliness, hospitality, friendly, comfortable bed, everything you can name it as a five star hotel. We have been travel around the world and have stay in multiple big end hotels, but this one is way too underrated. We would definitely go back again! Our stay was great , all was well cleaned and maintained . Patrick was exceptional as our room wasn't ready when I arrived at 3 I had my little grandbabies and came back at 7 pm to check In and he offered us food and popsicles and was so very kind . Overall great stay they put out a very nice continental breakfast every morning .

Nothing right at all. No front desk staff after hours. A bum was sleeping on the stairs, urine smell and all. Bedsheets were not replaced, i had several insect bites all over me. Morning staff was grumpy and unwelcoming host. The health code of the building needs Goverment inspection and well-needed upgrade. Horrible hotel experience

Meh. This is a motel. Not a hotel by any means.

It was advertised that all rooms had WiFi free of charge. My room did not have wifi access (206). When I asked about this I was told that wifi was “spotty” in some rooms. My room had 2 worrying electrical issues; - a ceiling light would flicker sporadically, often stopping and then recovering. This was the main source of light for the desk area. - one of the side table lights had a built in power point that was not attached properly. It looked like there was an attempt to glue it in place which did not work. The guest laundry area was not clean, especially the floor.

Rooms aren’t like the pictures - can definitely get a better hotel for the money.

I stayed here for a quick unplanned business trip. This is a great location and great value. The staff, especially Patrick cvouldnt have been more accomodating. I will definitely return (and hopefully for more tha the night!). Highly recommend Costa Art Hotel on the coast between Newport and Laguna Beach!

Very lovely time in general. Friendly staff and nice accommodations. Pleasantly remodled with a new feel. Thank you for allowing fur babies! My only recommendation would be get a waffle maker for your lobby. That would for sure be a hit!

I truly enjoyed my stay!! My Hotel room was very nice! Clean, bed was comfortable, staff is friendly, a continental breakfast is provided, hotel is walking distance to the beach, and they offer convenient under ground parking.

I checked in late the first room the TV did not work at all, I was moved to second room where the Bed was visibly dirty has long black curly hairs all over the streets and pillows as well some light yellow stains. by this time it was about 11:30pm decided to just sleep on top of the sheets. Messages the hotel they did nothing about it. Best part was free parking, nice night staff and the beach close by.

Convenient location and friendly service

The room was very clean and you walked right across the street and down a hill to the beach. Beautiful area. The breakfast was good and the staff were very helpful. We would go back there again.

Staff members were great. We didn’t have breakfast so can’t speak to that. Our room had a tricky front door and a sliding door that was very difficult to open and close. AC did not work. Shower water was hit and miss. We enjoyed the room otherwise and the location was perfect for seeing the sights and people we were in town to see.

The room was beautiful with upscale furniture! Artwork from the area!. Close to The downtown area. A lot of choices for dog friendly restaurants. We were on the 1st story and you could see a little of the ocean. Very close to the beach we just walked from the hotel. The staff was extremely helpful & nice. They all loved my dog. There were biscuits in the lobby as well for her. We will be Back!

The Costa Art Hotel is very charming. I didn't expect much, but I was very pleasantly surprised how nice the room was. Patrick, the front desk manager, is delightful. The other staff members I encountered were very helpful & nice. The Costa Art hotel is more like a motel as the hallways are outdoor walkways. But there are plants throughout & little seating areas. The pool is a plus. I'm sure some of the rooms may be noisy, as it is right on PCH. We had a room in the back. Our little balcony faced the center court, not the street. Although, we had a sliver of an ocean view. I didn't expect to see it from our room. The price was excellent. This hotel is a gem!! We will come back!

I loved this hotel! Pictures don’t do it justice we were impressed from the beginning!! The room was spacious and the balcony was one of the bigger ones if you are getting a balcony room and I very much recommend request Rm. 114 the view was great bed felt big and there were what felt like a ton of pillows was not disappointed at all!! And we got to meet the infamous Patrick so that was exciting and even though we didn’t hang out by the pool we walked by it and it looked super cute honestly it’s on the smaller side but the area looked really nice

Our room was close to the main street. So we heard traffic noise all night long. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

The only thing I didn't like was the street noise. But since it is on a busy street that may be unavoidable.

Overall, great two night stay. Only complaint: no hot water first morning. Only lukewarm between 10-11:30 am. Also, coffee maker did not function. Water heated but did not dispense. Reported issues and were told they would be addressed. Water was hot next morning but coffee maker still did not function. Luckily there was good coffee available at the morning continental breakfast bar. I’d stay again. Staff very nice.

Interesting architecture for an older buildin...classic old beach town style. However they are upgrading interiors.

Can’t get closer to Crescent Bay Beach! The remodel, particularly to the bathrooms, is noticeable and they’re going to extra mile, including fresh chocolate chip cookies, to ensure guests experience a memorable stay!

The room with 2 king beds was nice. The lack of staff/ no one at the front desk most of the time was concerning. Wouldn’t consider the breakfast again

The staff was amazing!! We had an issue with our reservation billing and they simply and calmly handled it for us. Continental breakfast was delicious and the coffee was fantastic. Not your typical hotel/motel experience. We felt catered to and treated as family. We were able to walk to the beach which was a 7 minute walk from door to beach. We will always book with this motel for our Laguna Beach excursions.

It is a nice hotel on the north side of Laguna beach. Away from the traffic and people. But still close enough to go downtown. Trolley available, but a few blocks away from hotel for pick up. Beds were very comfortable. Bathroom very large.

The management of the hotel did not respond to a message that was left with the front desk to help resolve a booking issue. this resulted in loss of fund for the room and having to find alternate housing. I would not recommend staying at this location.

My husband and me spend 2 days in the area. We liked this hotel. Nice and quiet place to stay.

Not perfect, not bad. Staff very friendly. Breakfast is simple, small pool was refreshing. Had 2 dogs with us. Walking dogs here tough- alleys or hills, take your pick.

And the parking structure could be a little cleaner, the trash was still there when we left as it was when we arrived. I would love to return to this property if all things where fixed!

Noisy. Paper thin walls, so could hear people in other rooms 24 hours a day. Could also hear staff walking about pushing trolleys. Breakfast not great. Easy to park.

The front desk workers are awesome! Everything was perfect with the room.We were on the first floor this time so we can hear all the kids running above us.But that's not the hotels fault. Nice continental breakfast, coffee all day long in the lobby, along with homemade cookies.

Clean newly renovated rooms conveniently located to trolly downtown. Plenty of restaurants, galleries, beach views along a two mile stretch of the PCH. Friendly neighborhood.

Great stay In laguna beach

We liked the proximity to the beach. The rooms were comfortable. We were disappointed with the shallow, cold pool with no available pool towels!

Overall good stay. Staff was great. We stayed two nights two adults, two teenagers and a dog in a room with two king beds and a balcony. It was clean parking was so easy and free! Pool stays open late, and we had a big screen tv to walk movies when we connected to our Netflix so it was nice to relax before bed as a family. Everything was at a walkable distance food, convince store, and the beach although it was a bit of a steep walk there is a couple of beach entrances right across the street no more than 3-4 mins walk. I would stay here again.

The bad things: noisy room (road noise, footsteps above, thin walls, ice machine), TV did not work (fuzzy, small picture), not enough electrical outlets, slipshod renovation (poor paint job, missing electrical outlet covers, drawers would not stay shut), noisy air conditioner, no in-room safe or other place for valuables, far walk from town.

Great Stay overall! The location was great, the room had everything including cozy robes and they offered beach/pool towels. The hospitality was great and everything was within walking distance.

Super close to the beach and the staff was super nice

Issues in room:1 towel rack fell of the wall, but it was replaced immediately. 2. Shower difficult to comprehend. There was a rain and regular shower, but it was impossible to shut off the rain. It was so dark in the shower you couldn't read the labels on the 3 bottles on the wall. 3. There was no way to turn on the TV.

I don’t usually leave a review but I just have to say that Patrick is one of the best! The moment we walked in, he made us feel so welcomed which made our stay extra special. He also gave us recommendations which was very helpful. The hotel is very close to the beach and had complimentary beach chairs and umbrella so it was very convenient. Room was clean and breakfast was ok.

Had to take cold showers, there was not any hot water. The sink bowl in the bathroom was leaking from the base. Floors were dirty with marker all over. Art Hotel was clean, affordable and across the street from a beautiful Laguna beach. It was walking distance to some great coffee (EQ), a few good restaurants, a cute Mercado Market, pet suppy (which we needed) and close to trolley pickup for venturing downtown. The property was undergoing a needed glow up during our stay (which was not disclosed in advance), with exterior painting and repairs happening on the Monday we were there. There is also a lot of street noise, dampened somewhat when the slider is closed. We had a King/Balcony room that faced the street. The room was updated, clean and comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall ,worth it for the value and location.

The best beach I’ve been to. This was the perfect hotel for what I wanted to experience for my stay. Small property quick and easy to get to the beach the pool the ice machine . Took a Lyft right down the street to all the food places. I like the updated showers. Just easy peazy. The lady that works the front test the morning shift. I liked her made it easy she’s great

Fabulous hotel, great staff , updated rooms , amazing service, delicious breakfast and fabulous location. I was pleasantly surprised by the breakfast which had Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, nuts , cheese omelette and organic high protein options.

Staff were so nice and helpful, but I have to say Patrick is AWESOME!! I left one of my bags behind and he called to let me know and he went out of his way and mailed it to me. I appreciate him so much!! I can’t thank him enough this ment so much to me for him to take time out of his personal day to do this for me. Thanks again Patrick I so appreciate you so much and can’t wait for our next visit.

Our room had been updated but the property overall needs a facelift. We upgraded to a king balcony room but the view was mostly of the rooftop of the building in front of it. It’s in a good location for walking to the beach but it’s loud because it right on the PCH. There is a pool but it was not clean. There is no gym or other property amenities other than the pool. They do have free parking. They offer a continental breakfast every day which consisted of fresh fruit, muffins and rolls, cereal and yogurt. The staff is friendly and helpful, even baking cookies for guests in the evening. We especially appreciated Patrick who was so welcoming and helpful throughout visit. This is a very basic motel and the price reflects that. If you’re not interested in spending more money for all the bells and whistles then this is the place for you.

The staff was so kind; makes you fill in home, I do really recommend them in your stay in Laguna Beach.

The hotel is a little tired. It’s on a major highway with 40MPH speed limits, so it’s noisy. It’s also located a good 30-minute walk from downtown restaurants and activities. But it’s priced well and Patrick at the front desk was great.

Had a great stay here with family! The hotel itself is older, the rooms have had a facelift. The beach is within walking distance and the hotel has everything you may need for a day on the sand! Boogie boards, chairs, towels! The staff (shout out to Patrick!) were great and the breakfast was a nice little touch! We will be back.

2nd stay here. The free trolley is great and the stop is just across the street from the hotel. Walkable to the beach and downtown Laguna is not that far away.
