    Property was nice and clean, but it is a bit dated. Location is nice and central to many things, and walking distance to many eateries. Our biggest complaint was the parking fee; we traveled with two cars and had to pay $42. A night for each car to park. $84. A night just to park, on top of everything else they charge was too much!

    Everything is a charge...parking $42, Internet $15, extra water (only given 2 bottles), no anything for breakfast or so on... but the room is $300 a night plus everything else addition $100 not worth the stay! I dislike money hunger business!

    The staff was wonderful. However, the bathrooms in the rooms were not ideal. The toilets were child sized with no grab bars. The bathtub did not drain properly. The sink was minuscule and did not hold toiletries. There was no fan in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable, but it was pushed so close to the wall that it was very difficult to get onto the right side of the bed. The room was very small and there was only room for one suitcase to be elevated. We would not stay in this Marriott again.

    The experience in this room (second room) was unimaginable. The door came off the hinge and hit my grandson on left shoulder. He was carrying my 16 month old great grandson who was frighten an upset.The maintenance tech, came immediately, repair and commented this issue happens often. This was alarming and was shared via an incident report.

    My experience was a mixed bag, the breakfast was very good, the parking was very good. I booked 2 rooms, the rooms were clean upon check in, however, the second day they were not. The exculator wasn't working. Went to bar for cocktails, bar was dirty asked bartender to clean and she grudgingly did so. The hotel was booked with youth sports team it was noisy, There are 3 employees that exceeded the 10 rating experience.They are Mya.at registration/front desk; Dion, manager of Food Services and Rosanna in Fresh. They deserve 10+++ for their service delivery and problem resolution. The location is excellent.

    Terrible! Checked in and requested a handicap room and didn’t get it. Had to go back down and request a new one. Not truly a handicap room quite tight but we survived. Our shower had a huge leak and engineer had to replace new vents which took over 3 hours. No closet to hang up my dresses. No dresser to unpack. Terrible elevator experience. Too many kids pushing every floor. They shut two of the three elevators for a bit. Key card should only work for the floor you’re staying on. My free breakfast which was supposed to be free was not the first day because they never gave me my breakfast passes. So once again I had to go to the front desk. She said yes just give them these coupons. I asked why didn’t I receive them when I checked it and her reply was my bad. SERIOUSLY! The pool also is not handicap accessible to go in or go out. Unbelievable.

    It was a nice hotel in a good neighborhood. The mall was close to the hotel which was nice. The parking was $10 dollars higher per day than when I booked. Also they do not clean the rooms everyday unless you request it ,which would have been nice to know at check-in. We came back to the hotel and had to request for them to empty the trash and to get clean towels.

    Generally WiFi is free with stay but at this hotel there would be a fee for using it. I did not use WiFi after knowing there would be a charge but was charged on my bill. Also the front desk person did not inform me when I checked in.

    No one explained how to get out of parking lot at the end of our stay and the gate tried to collect money from us even though we already paid. I ended up running back to the front desk and then they just told me to hit the help button. The pool was nice and warm and clean. Would have liked a hot tub.

    The room smelled very strongly of Febreeze and left me coughing all night long. The hotel felt very dusty and tired. The carpets in the hallways must be 30 years old, The entire property needs an upgrade and facelift. $40 to self park is also absurd. The “balcony” in the balcony rooms is more like a ledge.

    My stay was generally positive, but it started off on the wrong foot when the first room I was given, Room 803, had a very strong marijuana smell. I brought it to the attention of the front desk, and they immediately provided a new room with no hassle. Their responsiveness and professionalism were much appreciated, and the rest of the stay was comfortable. I hope the hotel can address the odor issue to prevent future guests from having the same experience.

    Receptionist was really bad at her job. Had no idea what say to me about my stay. I had to ask about parking, how to get to my room. There were no amenities in the room. No cups, no ice bucket. The hallways were sooo cold. Just not a very nice stay.

    Receptionist was really bad at her job. Had no idea what say to me about my stay. I had to ask about parking, how to get to my room. There were no amenities in the room. No cups, no ice bucket. The hallways were sooo cold. Just not a very nice stay.

    Rooms After contacting and notifying both Booking.com and Marriot of one day late arrival (due to school soccer playoff game on Saturday) when we arrived the hotel room was still not ready. We had to wait additional 3 hours to get a room we had already paid. We request Saturday fee to be refunded since Marriot hotel already gave our room to another client. This is ethical business practice and will contact BBB if not refunded.

    At first I thought I would have to pay for parking but the hotel has their guests covered. When I was checking out the staff let me know what I could do to avoid that. It was simple and easy. I loved they had starbucks inside as well as walking distance. It was only a 7 minute drive away from the offices I had a work meeting so it was great! Everything was great!

    My experience was decent/challenging. What made this review go up is the person I spoke to when I checked out. She was very kind. I appreciate her understanding. I told her I wanted to have a great hotel experience. While that was not the exact case she made me want to give Marriott another try. I did not get her name, but I thank you for your sweet demeanor. I paid additional for an upper room. My room was on the fifth floor. The bathroom was not satisfactorily cleaned. Tub was dirty, hair in the corner on the floor, and shower gel was not refilled.

    The room was clean, so was the hotel. We had a problem with the sink in the bathroom, it dropped then ran steady. We weren't notified it works be fixed, came back to the room to repair men. They left but we had no cold water, so they had to cube batch. We were compensated. Also the parking fee..omg.. why not just include that interesting nightly rate. Why penalize the people who drive, who choose to stay at your facility, so many fees, also no shuttle to anywhere. Will i stay at Marriott again, probably.

    What stood out to me most was the staff members I dealt with. Without exception, everyone was very friendly, professional, and helpful. I did not get any names but I’ll describe the circumstances in the hopes they can be identified and complimented. I was checking in with my husband who had just had eye surgery. I stopped at the hotel around 1:00 p.m. while he was still at the hospital to see if I could get an early check in. I described the situation to the woman at the desk saying it would be best to go straight to the room. She was extremely friendly and helpful and did what she could to get me checked into a room early, which she did. I feel she went above and beyond. On our floor, 11, as we were making our way slowly to the room, we encountered two people cleaning rooms. They saw my husband's bandage and us moving slowly and one of them asked for my room key and went to our room to have the door open when we got there. It’s a small thing but it meant a lot and showed true care for us as guests. They were cleaning rooms on the 11th floor around room 1111 at about 2:30 or so on Saturday the 29th if you’re able to identify them. Finally, I asked for more pillows and a blanket so my husband could sleep in a position recommended by the hospital. The person who delivered them to our door was friendly and pleasant. Overall, I was very impressed with the staff.

    Parking is not free, and it is 39 dollars per night (which I assume it's pretty common in the area). So, if you are on a road trip, basically add 39 dollars onto the room fee when estimating the cost.

    Had an issue with hot water and Jose was kind and respectful in trying to resolve it. After the cartridge was changed the water was warmer yet never hot however I didn’t call again as it seemed that was the normal temp. That was disappointing as a hot shower on a very rainy stay would have been nice.

    Room was clean but the hotel is a little oudated. The carept on the hallway and interir were worn, and there was paint chipping on on the bottom of the walls and sides. We stayed on the 4th floor. The moment I walked out of the elevator, which was nearby my rooms, I immediately noticed the two two big squre holes on my room walls, about 1.5 feet long and wide. The inside plumbing and pink insulation were exposed without covers. There was one large black garbage bag laying 3 feet out of my room. The garbage bag was not picked up until the next day evening. No staff came to cover the big holes on the walls during my stay for 2 nights. Anyone walked by can simply mess up the uncovered areas. For an upscale Marriott brand, management should idenify and take care of it, making sure guests stay comfortably in a visually and physically safe envirnoment.

    I had a surgical procedure and elected to stay at the Marriot.The hotel went out of there way to insure i had ice for treatment for swelling and brought my dinner up.Terrific personal service and much appreciated.     Disappointed as I had asked for an early check in due to an arrival at noon for a wedding. There was no follow up or communication from the hotel with any status updates. When we called to find out we were informed the guest had a late checkout and did not give us any estimate or ability to get another room instead. I had signed up for notifications for when the room was ready and received none. As a result of the inability for early check in we were not able to get our room until after the wedding and even though I prepaid and did early check in via the app had zero mobile room key which required us to go to the front desk and have to redo the whole check in process. Overall frustrating experience.

    Second time staying here. It’s a convenient area. Very strange issue with the pillows however. The first time i noticed a bad smell with several of the pillows and thought it was a fluke.     I was assigned a handicapped access room in middle of a construction zone. I had to walk around repair staff, over plastic. The room was the fartherest away from the main customer elevator as possible next to a service elevator. On a low floorwith an adjoins door to a room bring worked on. You could hear doors opening all night. This is a very large hotel. Is this the only room available? I am even a Bonvoy member. Not a nice place at all with too many contractors walking in and out. Shameful experience

    We did not avail ourselves of having our rooms cleaned for the three days we stayed. However, we did ask for additional towels and paper cups which a maintenance person cleaning other rooms graciously gave us. Regarding the safe box in the room - it doesnt work (it kept indicating/flashing CLOSED). I know I could have asked for it to be fixed but we are busy/on a schedule and dont have the time to wait for a repair person. We like the convenient location of the hotel to nearby restaurants, bakeries, and shops. This is why I chose this particular Marriott. Thank you for asking our opinion regarding our Marriott stay.

    I honestly don’t know why this hotel is rated so good. The rooms are outdated and feel dirty. No room service and the parking rate is ridiculous each night. I went to order food at the bar and they didn’t even know they served it and had to ask the chef. The prices for everything vs what you get is crazy. The only good thing is it’s a close drive to La Jolla Beach.

    Very well maintained. Awesome staff. I can't say enough about all the staff. Long story short. Moving my daughter into to college. The sadness. The wonderful ladies at the front sesk helped me feel as if i was family. The man who took my bags to the room, the housekeepers so pleasant.     We were a little disappointed at the room and the stay overall. For over $200 a night I've got a relatively small room with 2 single beds (I was expecting 2 Queens). The toilet is very low (lower than any of the hotel rooms I've stayed in before), and there was only a (small) bathtub with shower in it, yet the bottom of the bathtub was slippery which is dangerous for older people as it presented a high risk for them to slip and fall. And the parking is NOT free! I did not know I had to pay extra $39.90 for the parking - this surprised me as almost all the hotels I stayed in before provided free parking and Wifi but not here! Overall I don't feel the room quality and its amenities justifying the relatively high price for the room (plus the parking charge).

    Front desk girl knew her baseball, we went for my husbands bday and went to go watch a Dodger game at Petco. The valet older gentleman was patient with our questions. The two younger valet attendants (one female other was male) were rude and rolled their eyes at some of the questions we asked. The rooms are a bit dated but clean. You need a car to get around that area but they have sushi close, like right next door. Overall good experience.

    We have stayed here many times as this is our second child attending college nearby. It is a fantastic location and you can walk to a great mall that has really good food choices and places to shop. The a/c did not seem to be working in our room. I got up quite a few times because of how hot it was and kept lowering it and could not understand why the room was not getting cold. I realized the next morning after seeing that the curtain kept getting suctioned to the return that the air was not working because the return was blocked. After searching the area, we found there was a hook for the curtain so it would not suction to the return. When we checked out I mentioned this to the person checking us out and said it would have been helpful to know about the hook when we checked in so we could have had a cooler room. She said she doesn't know about any of the rooms, it would have to come from housekeeping, but it seems like if this is a known issue that they have installed a special hook, that could be in the notes. It was very frustrating and I am not sure if I will stay here again even though my youngest has two more years in SD.

    I did not like the dining and bar closed too early even when the lobby was full of people. Parking is a bit excessive, it motivates using UBER instead (this would be a lose-lose situation for Marriot)

    Beautiful hotel! Lovely atmosphere - the lobby has gorgeous artwork, the bar is beautiful, and staffed perfectly. We were quickly checked in, our room was fresh, clean, great view even from the third floor. I would recommend staying here to anyone.

    Honestly, this is the first time I've seen this situation in the hotel where I stayed. The blanket was stained with blood, and it had a bad smell as if they didn't wash the pillows. The smell stinks of blood when you use it to brush your teeth. This was a very bad experience. I can't recommend this hotel to anyone.

    Right by UTC mall and trolley station. The rooms have a nice view with a small balcony. The cleaning could have been better as it was clear the room wasn’t vacuumed and there was a bad smell i would periodically notice

    For a nicer property in La Jolla, the façade needs painting badly and needs to be updated. This is a pretty nice hotel. You wouldn’t know it by looking at it from the outside. Restaurant was very nice. Room was good. Parking too expensive for what it is.

    The hotel is in a great location, the staff were friendly and helpful. I lowered the rating because I was placed in a room directly behind the elevators and we could hear the cables pulling up and down all night. Saturday night was worse than Friday night. Otherwise the room was very nice. I didn’t sleep at all due to the elevator noise. Luckily my daughters a heavy sleeper and it didn’t affect her. We were there for a 3 day soccer tournament. Marriott should refrain from placing people in the rooms directly behind the elevators

    Very disappointing. Old building. Room felt claustrophobic. Bathroom needed a remodel. Parking was an extra $39 per day. Parking garage and elevator was dirty. Pool was small. Pool had five speakers but only one worked. No breakfast included. Yet they charge market rates. We will not stay here again.

    Air conditioning did not work and had to open the patio door, parking was an additional 39.99 per day (third party) , there was no complimentary breakfast buffet so for our 2 rooms with 5 adults and 2 children it was over $250 for breakfast (drinks were separate as well)

    It was a short trip from L.A to San Diego. We had a graduation ceremony at 9:30a the next morning. The valet was great service, check-in was quick and easy. We made it in time for dinner and drinks at the restaurant in the hotel. Food and drinks were good. Starbucks in the morning was a lifesaver. I asked for a late check out with no problem. Which made my day. We will come back.
