been coming here for years and always try and get the same room, 202 - could really use an update on the shower faucets and fixtures. also could not get the keurig machine to latch and make the coffee. otherwise, always clean, great staff and really appreciate the breakfast room(s)!

Free breakfast and free drinks 24/7. Location was perfectly situated in front of oceanside. Very pretty view from the rooftop. Kitchen is also available in the room. The place feels like home.

The theme of the hotel is very enjoyable. There were features in our suite that you would only expect in much more costly accommodations. The service was above and beyond our expectations. That we only scheduled one night there. The lack of a pool.

Having 24 hours hot water, coffee, tea, and flavored water was great . Sometimes they have cookies. Staff are nice and helpful. The place is near the ocean coastal. We enjoyed walking and playing in the sand and sea water. Enjoying the sunset with my sister and her family was a memorable moment.

Wonderful location, right on the beach. Accommodations were dated, but clean. Breakfast was 6/10….somewhat repetitive. Daily cookies were a nice plus. Property was dated. Really enjoyed the boutique nature of the facilities but for the price could have been much nicer. We were celebrating our 30th anniversary and I requested special acknowledgment twice before we arrive and had acknowledgment of our special date nor any extra amenities so was disappointed by that for sure.

Location was excellent! Loved our corner unit overlooking the water. Loved the rooftop and the breakfast area and the waters/ sodas that were included. Very nice touch. The shower in the (1) bathroom did not have any way to stop it from flooding the whole bathroom. Basically when you took a shower, the whole bathroom was the shower (like in Europe).

Location couldn't be better, being across the street from the seashore. Top of building wonderful to view the sunset. Room was extremely spacious, with two separate bedrooms, kitchen, and living room. Three TVs. Room condition in general was good and clean. The breakfast seemed like restaurant quality and wonderful, with places inside and outdoors to eat. If I'm being picky, the fridge in the room looked older and some of the faucets needed a good hardwater build-up removal.

We only stay here and love how close it is to the ocean! Rooms are clean and they are very accommodating if you need anything.

The staff were far and away the best we have ever encountered. They truly made us feel like we were honored guests in their home. The property was immaculate and the breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend!

The window in the kitchen goes to a back alley so same thing, the only one was the main one when you enter the place facing parking lot and then after the street is the beach…… breakfast also was so so not many options was like a chain hotel, staff very attentive and they have a small rooftop in the side where thay have hotel rooms I guess! Fireplace was cozy and nice having it in the living room! It never happened to me to encounter this things when I paid the amount of money of a luxury hotel! Too bad because we are not going to stay there again!!!

The Hotel is a little bit old but well maintained and the beds are comfy. The area is safe. The staff are courteous and helpful. Breakfast is good with many choices .

We had a fantastic time and the friendly and helpful staff, the location and the accommodations all contributed to a fantastic stay! It was nice to have the complimentary breakfast and the cart to get us to a location and back if needed. We would/will definitely stay here again! There was nothing we did not like about the stay. The only change we would possibly make is to book a room with a balcony.

The property is literally across the street from the beach. The rooms were OK (Felt a bit dated). The views were stunning with huge windows. Staff was very friendly. The location is incredible. The windows in my room were huge and looked straight out to the ocean with zero obstructions! Best view I’ve ever had in a hotel. And free onsite parking! Was only there one night, and have nothing to complain about

Everyone onsite was accommodating and friendly. The location cannot be beat if wanting to enjoy all downtown LaJolla has to offer!

The location is perfect, right on the ocean, a short walk to the beach to watch the seals. The staff did everything they could to make our stay comfortable. They provided "over the top" services such as a golf cart ride to anywhere we wanted to go in town within a 1.5 mile radius; they did our laundry, made sure we were comfortable, and had a great roof top area with comfortable furniture, a gas firepit and a perfect view of the ocean! The breakfast was also wonderful, the food was very well presented and very good. A good variety and great coffee, too. Note, this hotel has stairs and no elevators, but the staff will assist with your luggage, and parking is close. This was a terrific place to stay!

Fabulous location. Great cookies in the afternoon! Breakfast was poor. Rooms were dingy and dampish. Not somewhere you wanted to spend much time. Staff weren’t great. Parking is extra.

Good location close to the sea and the center of the Jolla village. Smelly appartement, shower had no hot water and the pressure was very bad, staff were not super welcoming and nice. The only super kind person was that lady that offered us breakfast even past the time.

A perfect stay for a family with two preschoolers. Confortable, clean, well managed. Tbe location is unique!

We were there for a wedding for my nephew. The staff was very helpful, very friendly and took care of everything every time we asked and dropped us off at the venue so we didn’t have to park a car would recommend nice facility worth the price we stayed in the honeymoon suite.

Erwin the gentleman who checked us in was incredibly helpful abd extremely professional. The only complaint I have is that we had a really hard time finding the Hotel because the bushes below the Hotel Sign looked like it hadn't been trimmed in months and eclipsed the entire Pantai Inn signage.

Perfect location a block away from Scripps Park and the Children's pool. Walking distance to many good restaurants. Our suite was quiet, nicely appointed and well-maintained. Breakfast was included but was a simple buffet. Even with renting a suite, we had to pay for parking.

Our favorite hotel in La Jolla. The best location, walking distance to everything and the rooms are so perfect. They feel more like staying in an apartment than a hotel room.

Pantai is a beautiful hotel - located only 100 yards from the cliffs of the La Jolla Cove, it is scenic, comfortable, and a little funky. The rooms are all unique and spacious, and very livable. On our last visit we only stayed one night, but the Pantai is perfect for longer stays and a perfect hideout for all the regions attractions.

What a beautiful boutique hotel as close to the water as you can get in La Jolla. Our room was huge and immaculate with views of the ocean. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly location was right in the heart of the downtown area, walking distance to all sorts of activities but none of the noise could be heard in the room. They included breakfast was delicious and having real plates with real silverware was a definite bonus.

Everything was delightful. The breakfast was the most enjoyable hotel breakfast I've ever had with Dori being very kind and attentive. The location is perfect. I enjoyed the evening on the rooftop deck, looking out at the ocean.

It looks like the furniture and fixtures have not been updated since the ‘70’s. Bathroom lighting inadequate, too dark to put on makeup. Only mirror was in bathroom. Fire alarm system started chirping for new batteries at 4:00 am Room smelled moldy, heating system did not operate, no hot water in kitchen. Had to run water for five minutes to get hot water in the bath.

We had the most incredible anniversary stay at Pantai Inn and we truly can’t wait to come back. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcomed and cared for, which made our special weekend feel even more memorable. The property itself is beautiful, peaceful, and full of charm, it feels like a hidden tropical escape right in the heart of La Jolla. Our suite was spotless, cozy, and thoughtfully designed, with every detail adding to the relaxing, romantic atmosphere. We loved being just steps from the ocean and walking distance to everything. The little touches really stood out, the warm hospitality, delicious breakfast, and the serene courtyard made it feel intimate and special rather than just another hotel stay. It was exactly what we hoped for to celebrate our anniversary. If you’re looking for a quiet, romantic getaway with exceptional service, this is the place. We’re already counting down only thing that i would have loved is a balcony

Great location right by the beach. My kids enjoyed watching the sea lions which was walking distance. Although we didn’t get to use the on-suite kitchen and dining room, it was definitely a great setup for families. We also enjoyed the free breakfast. We will definitely come back next time when traveling to SD area.

The location can't be beat! A block or so from seal beach and loads of shops and eateries within a 10 minute walk. Staff is always available and helpful.

Not convenient for small kids due to stairs; ok breakfast; staff does not speak fluent English, which creates communication issues. Parking is $30 per day, and it is just a steep blind slot next to the apartment, which is very difficult to get outof safely due to a lack of full vision of the street

This place is a gem! Staff was courteous and goes out of their way to help you. Perfect location in La Jolla to walk to pretty much all the sights, restaurants and shops. The Inn is quaint and clean. Our room had amazing views of the ocean— just across the street-with large windows. We also had a balcony with chairs to relax and view the sea. The rooftop lounge area has seating and a gas firepit area to relax and watch the sunset or just visit. Lobby is stocked with fresh fruit water daily and breakfast was included with our stay. It was well worth the visit! Thank you!

The breakfast was nice and tasty. The seagulls got the first omelet so watch out if you are eating on the patio. They are watching you...the staff were very helpful. We had parking right at the hotel, so didn't have to find street parking. We were right across the street from the beach and walkway. Very nice and convenient.

Initially there was a problem with our room, but the manager upgraded us to a better room. All the staff is incredibly nice and helpful. The location is unbeatable. We’ve been staying at this hotel since 2012, and we come approximately once a year. Will stay here again.

The Inn's location was perfect. It's right along the coast with wonderful views of the ocean. Our room was clean with decent bed and toiletries. The breakfast was very adequate with a selection of fruits, breads and proteins. The availability of coffee, teas, sodas, waters was great and very convenient.

This stay was amazing and we’d definitely come again the only issue was the parking is very limited and tight, just a heads up! But everything else was clean comfy and beautiful!

Cons: Dismissive, disengaged and almost rude front desk staff as if I should know where/what/how about the property/amenities when asking basic FAQs when checking in/any other time. Parking spots are challenging if you drive anything above a compact. Included breakfast is exact same set up as Best Westerns in a better/scenic setting, barely a con tbh. Older propert or “charming” in realtor speak, Rooms have hard to access outlets, also barely a con. Biggest con - bathroom was super small, just enough counter space for a toothbrush & toothpaste - how small? I could take a shower, flush the toilet and reach the light switch on the opposite wall without getting out of the shower.

We love staying here. A one minute walk to shell beach. The free breakfast is bomb. And many great restaurants within walking distance.

Ocean view was amazing and staff was great. They share the balconies so it’s weird to have your window open with strangers standing there. The room was also below the top viewing deck so you hear chairs being pulled across the ceiling space and drinks being dropped. Breakfast was really good and room super clean.

We chose to stay at Pantai Inn with the family, but it turned out to be a very disappointing experience. From the moment we checked in, the lady in front was very unfriendly and unprofessional. We purchased the room at $400/night, and we chose the partial ocean view. The view from the small room was blocked by a van. I'll attach a picture to this review.

Our room could use a little maintenance, it had a humid smell.

Our room was incredibly spacious, more like a full apartment than a hotel room. With a full kitchen, dining area, and living room, it was perfect for our family of four. The staff was exceptional. A special shoutout to Baca, who went above and beyond to make us — especially our son — feel right at home. He was kind, funny, and incredibly attentive. He made sure my son got an umbrella straw with his apple juice every morning. We also appreciated the little extras, like the complimentary breakfast with a variety of options to choose from, and the fridge in the lobby stocked with free waters and sodas. If we had to point out one downside, it would be that the property could use a few updates. Some elements feel a bit dated, but honestly, the charm, service, and location more than make up for it. Overall, Pantai Inn was a fantastic choice for our family getaway. We'd gladly stay here again!

We payed for and supposed to have an ocean view room but the room was at the street level,so all we could see was the street and the cars parked in front Fortunately there was not so much traffic, for the noise But the floors and walls of the building were not well isolated so we could hear every step and every noise , day and night :) The breakfast was good though

Bedroom carpet is not clean. Bathroom is very small and faucet is calcified. Balcony is shared with neighboring room. Phones in both rooms were not working. Ocean view was amazing. Breakfast was excellent. Beach equipments such as chairs, umbrella and towels were free of charge.

The property was amazing . The suite was beautiful and had a spectacular view. The beds were so comfortable that we were checking the mattress to see what it was. The breakfast was a wonderful variety each morning with lots of choices and water and drinks were provided 24/7. The staff were all extremely friendly and the times that we asked for something they were very swift to help. There was only one negative thing that we noticed- we were a grandma, a mom and two teen girls and the bathroom had no space for “stuff “ (hair products, makeup, etc) and the slower although very cute was not conducive to four people trying to shower- it made a water mess on the floor every time. Maybe every room is not like this but this is what we had in ours. I would 100% recommend this hotel and I would definitely go back. It was great- we were very happy

Checked into our room and realized the door would not lock. The locks inner mechanism was missing. Notified the front desk person right away who spoke with the manager. Book a room with an ocean view and our only option was to move to one without an ocean view. Opted to stay with a chair lodged under the doorknob. Verified the morning front desk person was aware of this during check out and they were not.

Loved the service and the property. The rooms were clean and had everything you need on a trip. Staff was courteous and helpful. Great location with several beaches within walking distance. Parking was scarce but plenty of availability in front of the property once people leave after sunset. Breakfast buffet was an added plus, delicious and convenient. Definitely recommend and will come back!

Absolutely fantastic stay at the Pantai Inn. Beautiful property with fantastic rooms (and a fine place to invite friends back to for a glass of wine). Having the ocean just across the road, with the park between, was glorious, making for very peaceful mornings each day. The owners and staff were fantastic, welcoming and kind. I will stay here again anytime I'm back in La Jolla.

Cove so we could walk and stroll the ocean boulevard anytime we wanted. I’d stay here again and have tried to but it was sold out. The moral of the story is book early. Don’t sleep on this place and miss your chance.

The hotel is located perfectly across the street from shell beach. Also, plenty of shops/restaurants in walking distance. The breakfast was above average and the grounds were clean. The only complaint I have is the smell of the room. The overwhelming odor smacks you in the face the moment you open the door. Only after opening the windows and doors for 10 minutes does the smell become tolerable. Its a very strong old musty smell. If they could fix this, the stay would be perfect.

This place is absolutely perfect. I would give 10 stars any day. Amazing sunsets!!

From the booking over the phone to the great staff who attended me during my stay I enjoyed my get away. Breakfast that was served was great and the bar was a good time and the outside area with the heaters and fire pit was dope. I will definitely book another stay.... the rooms are well kept and the balcony showing the beautiful beach was the cherry on top

We had an amazing stay at the Pantai. The hotel is unique and gorgeous. Small and cozy. Service was wonderful and friendly. We loved the breakfast and the free beverages whenever we needed them. The happy hour was cute as well, the bartender made our daughter a special shirley temple. Thank you so much, we can't wait to go back!

Room ,very noisy,could hear other rooms along with exterior door opening and closing all night long.Room very small,not suitable for two people.Staff excellent and property excellent.

I rarely write reviews as, frankly, so much is really mediocre. The Pantai Inn is a welcome exception. We had an ocean-facing room (and I mean, right across the street) with a king bed and a sweet balcony. They've got a Bali vibe going on with fountains, greenery and several well-maintained low rise buildings. We really appreciated the peace and quiet - despite being next to a street. Good hot breakfast. Easy access to beachside walk and a few steps up to the center of LaJolla. No car needed. Very personal; not a faceless chain. We absolutely will stay again when there.

Such a cute place! Not your commercialized hotel, very quant and personal feel. It’s beautiful and unique. So clean. The breakfast was great and such a beautiful patio to eat on. Can walk to the children’s pool and cove for snorkeling. Would definitely stay again.

A comfortable bed, full kitchen, and good breakfasts with a view of the ocean. A great staff, and a room just a three-minute walk from dining and shops. We will definitely be back.

It was decorated in Balinese style. It had a hot breakfast with a good number of items to choose from.

Nice little spot, pretty delish continental breakfast and less than 5 minute walk to the beach. I thought it was a bit silly to need to pay $25 a day for a parking pass (since we’re already paying to stay there.) Love how everything was within walking distance so you didn’t have to deal with nightmarish parking around La Jolla. Don’t waste your money for ‘The cave’ $9 a person to walk down a flight of steps to look at the ocean splash around a cave. You’ll be within arms reach with the sea lion & sea otters. Overall, great stay. My kids loved it and we plan to stay again next summer.

Five minute walk to La Jolla cove and all of the seals and sea lions. Comfortable rooms, staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Free cookies in the lobby was an unexpected bonus, as was the free breakfast. Will definitely stay again when we return.

The property was very cozy and intimate. The style was very classy and had such character which added to making the stay very memorable. The ocean view room 322 was so beautiful even when the day was gloomy, just seeing the water and the horizon, the Sea-lions and Being close to nature, this is one of the best places to stay. Breakfast was included, Employees were so friendly, The rooms were kept very tidy and clean and the complementary coffee cookie soda, water juice were all a plus… This was the place I had in mind when I was thinking about taking my mother to see La Jolla however, she passed away two days ago and that was the reason why I drove there—I wanted to show it to her through me. I’m sure she loved the place as much as I did. Thank you Pantai Inn for such a wonderful evening stay. Can’t wait to come back soon.

This was an amazing place to stay. The view from our room over the crashing waves and setting sun might have been the best to be found in California; the serene water features, gentle music, and South Pacific decor were soothing and lovely but not overbearing; and the staff were patient, accommodating, and friendly. The free cookies and beverages, complimentary delicious breakfasts, and free beach supply rentals were all icing on an already amazing cake. I’ve already recommended this place by name to my friends and family and I do the same to you.

This place is a gem. Yes, you pay for it, but it’s so nice to not be disappointed in a hotel stay. It is directly across the street from LaJolla Cove beach area and a block from the park. Everything else is a walk away straight uphill, but still a great location. The only issue was the disappointment of having construction right in front of the Inn on the beachfront, so you can’t walk straight down to the beach in that area, as it’s all blocked off. (5-2024). Breakfast is good, but not quite worth the $25 mandatory surcharge. You also pay $25 for parking. So expect to pay an additional $50 minimum, not including high taxes. Beautiful plants and waterfalls for decor. Indian theme.

Had a wonderful two night stay with an ocean view! Room was clean and comfortable. Is within walking distance of a ton of restaurants and activities. Will definitely be returning!

Love the location right on the beach, walkable to parks, Children's pool, sea cave & shell beach (all but 1 beach access area was closed due to sea lion breeding season). Enjoyed watching the seals and sealions with their babies, pelicans, dolphins, Cormorants, etc. right across the street from the hotel. Watched the sunset from our balcony every night. Breakfast every morning was included with lots of choices (fruit, breads/bagels, fresh waffle bar, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, cereals, juices, etc.), very welcoming and accommodating staff, easy free parking. Our room was a studio King with ocean view and it had a small kitchenette as well. It's an older property and could use some updating, bathroom was small, balconies on our building were not private but have 2 chairs and a small table outside. Overall we had a nice stay and would stay here again.

The hotel is located directly across the street from the beach and a block from upscale restaurants and shopping. The staff were very courteous. We had a lovely time.
