My concern was the parking when I booked, but there were sufficient parking spaces located conveniently.

The location is all it has going for it. It's walkable to cafes, gyms, and multiple beaches. The room itself works just fine. Rude and dismissive customer service, made me cry. Loud crashing and screeching construction noises wake you up early in the morning and continue throughout the day. The room listing says "streaming services (like Netflix) available" and the TV quite literally doesn't let you select anything except live TV. I wish I had paid more for one of the nearby hotels because staying here was a humiliation ritual. I was in town for a doctor's appointment that required downtime, peace, and recovery and this hotel was a nightmare.

Room was nice, staff was nice The rooms were nice, except there are no electrical plugs near the nightstands. I wish I would have been told about the coffee in the lobby in the morning.

The staff was extremely accommodating especially with us requiring an earlier check in for a wedding. We are eager to stay again and actually enjoy La Jolla and walk around. Thank you for the great hospitality!

My stay was absolutely perfect despite the hotel being in the midst of construction. We stayed at this hotel since we were running the La Jolla half marathon. It is walking distance to Scripps Park which is perfect. It is nice, clean hotel with a great ocean view. It comes at a great price point for the area. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again granted the price doesn't go up exorbitantly after construction is done.

Came to La Jolla for the Concourse de Elegance, the hotel was in a perfect location, easy walk to the event. Hotel staff was very friendly and even moved her personal vehicle so we could park. Room was nice and had a view. We will be back.

The hotel has a great central location, and the staff were very nice and helpful. On-site parking was very convenient, which made our stay easier. The hotel itself is a bit old, but it is currently undergoing renovation, so it should improve even more. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and a good experience.

Great neighborhood, very walkable to great restaurants and ocean nearby. Room was comfortable and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Renovation is in progress but hotel gave very clear communication about this and we weren't bothered at all by any noise or interruptions.

The location of this hotel is great but way overpriced for the rooms, everything is dated and beat up. They said they are renovating rooms but it seems like they upped their prices to accommodate for the other rooms. Parking is an issue for sure here. No breakfast was offered for the price of the room not much is offered to you for your room. I would stay at this property again because of its location but only if the prices were better.

Room was clean. Staff was great!! Parking could be dicey due to construction, I was lucky and arrived early with good parking, then I just walked everywhere, so was okay with parking. The hotel is a little older and going through renovations, but what I love so much is the location, you can’t beat it, you can walk to just about anywhere in LJ, and really get into the chill LaJolla vibe staying here! I’ve stayed in the Ocean view room and also the Partial Ocean view room, and I actually liked the partial ocean view room better because I could see not only a view of the ocean, but also the downtown lights at night, as well as the lights from the houses on the hill. Great place!!

The location was okay, the property was turning off the water throughout the day which I was not notified prior to my stay. There was free coffee in the lobby.

Our favorite Inn in the best location in La Jolla. They have ground floor renovations going on that’s affecting some of the parking, but we didn’t end up having any issues. The staff is the absolute BEST! Walking distance to all things La Jolla.

This hotel is well located and the staff are helpful and very friendly. The property was undergoing renovations and our room was not updated yet. It did have a nice balcony and we really appreciated the access to a VERY well equipped gym that gave us wonderful daily workouts and was clean and friendly.

Inn by the Sea is an older hotel presently going through renovations. Although I was allowed to check in early, the room that I was assigned was not as expected. I had stayed at this property before and at that time, was given an oceanfront room on the backside of the hotel. This time, I was given a room on the street side, which only had a partial view and was loud on a Saturday night. The woman who checked me in on Thursday 3/26 at 2 pm was also very passive aggressive. All the other front desk staff was superb, especially the gentleman at checkout 3/29 at 7am. As mentioned, they are going through renovations-I heard loud hammering on weekdays, but nothing on the weekend. The room and hotel in general is very clean, with water stations on every level and in room refrigerators. Bathrooms are super small. Room size is pretty standard. The hotel boasts a really cute little pool with lots of lounges and chairs for relaxing. The location also really can't be beat as it is a short walk to coffee, lovely restaurants, and the cove.

All the staff are very kind and helpful. Even though we experienced a minor electrical issue one evening(4:30am) the staff were extremely apologetic and saw to it that the issue was fixed by the following midday.

The hotel is under construction, but we were up and out before the jackhammer began. They warn you about it beforehand. La Jolla is beautiful, and this place puts you in the heart of it all.

The balcony overlooking the ocean is huge and is a beautiful place to watch the sunset. Rooms were a little worn, but had all of the furniture that I like: a comfortable chair with a good light and a side table, lights and bedstands on each side of the bed, a small table with 2 straight back chairs and a refrigerator. There was no "in the room microwave". Currently, the Inn by the Sea La Jolla is being renovated & I am sure the "worn" issue will not be an issue in the near future.

Hotel was far shabbier than I expected based on reviews, pictures, presentation on Expedia. My room had not been cleaned - there were big chunks of some sort of food under a table. There is massive major transformative construction going on that makes it impossible to think straight starting at 8:15 each day. Also, somewhat damningly, Expedia told me that the hotel had an airport shuttle. When I emailed to ask, the hotel said no. You can't tell me that they don't know Expedia is saying this... and it should be corrected if it's not true.

OK hotel with nice location. The decor is very tired. Bed was uncomfortable. We were there for 5 days and they only made up our room once - after we asked for it. Have coffee and tea service out for guests but no non dairy creamer. The staff were friendly.

Probably will not stay again until renovations are complete. The room was below average; fortunately, we were there only 1 night. We will be traveling to La Jolla a lot in the future to visit family. Inn by the Sea needs to be a better hotel, not just a room.

Very clean room comfortable bed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a primo location with restaurants, cafés shops, and of course the ocean just steps away. My only reason for a four star instead of five was that there were some renovations going on during our stay — we were grateful that we were located in a room away from most of the noise. If a traveler was just planning to be in the room in the evening after 5 PM, I would say the noise is not a factor at all.

It is undergoing construction right now, but our room was still comfortable and clean. We did not have any construction noise because we were there on a weekend and the construction did not impede the view or the lobby. I am sure that after the renovation, the rooms are going to be beautiful. The rooms are also very large, so they are easy to move around in, even with lots of luggage or more than a couple people.

No ocean view from balcony. Housekeeping advertised to be every other day. I asked for all days and was told yes. But still no housekeeping on the 2d day. Rooms were nice and beds very comfortable. No ice on our floor (3d), and microwave was a hike to the other end of the hotel. Lobby coffee meh, and lukewarm. Limited parking in front, otherwise in back alley; seems wrong to charge $20/night for that. Staff was friendly.

Awesome. It’s a great layout for the building and rooms, cozy, well adorned, and a great price for the prime location in the heart of the shopping zone in La Jolla. Limited ocean views but it’s the best spot for walking to the ocean or to a restaurant. 2 minutes from my favorite Robert Walkers pancake house.

We had a great stay. We visited in the off season so price was great. The hotel is clean and welcoming. The staff were very friendly. Parking is a little tricky with the number of non-compact cars that park in spaces labeled as compact that makes getting through the front lot a challenge but there is extra parking in the back.

The hotel is always spotless, and the staff treats their guest like family. It's also centrally located within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and the ocean. I have stayed here 4 times this year and will be back next year. I highly recommend Inn by the Sea!

This property was a perfect hotel for a quick stay in La Jolla but would be great for a few days. It is a short walk to the ocean and the bustling town.

I have stayed here multiple times and the staff is consistently amazing! I had an emergency and they were so kind and understanding. I will always come back here! The rooms are nice and the little balconies are cute and comfy. My daughter loved the heated pool!

Everything was fine up until we ordered delivery breakfast from The Cottage. We ordered coffees from the menu thinking that they'd come from The Cottage, but it was just the hotel's coffee. So we paid for something that is otherwise complimentary, plus a service fee, PLUS a delivery fee. And it wasn't good coffee, hence why we wanted to try coffee from The Cottage instead. We felt misled, so in the future hopefully the menu is more transparent about where each item is coming from, if it's not all coming from The Cottage.

The room was clean. The only issue with the room is that it is missing a microwave and to heat up food you need to go to the lounge. Other than that, the view was excellent from the balcony and there is a lot of food option in walking distance.

This is a clean and comfortable hotel located right above Prospect street - a few blocks from the sea. Lots of walkable restaurant options. Easy to get in and out with plenty of parking onsite. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The walls were thin so noisy neighbors can be disruptive. The balcony shows the hotel’s age.

The hotel is near plenty of restaurants and the area is walkable which is nice but the property feels outdated and the central air unit didn’t seem to work at least the heat didn’t. The room was cold at all times even when I set the temperature higher.

Excellent location. A block from downtown and 10-15 minute walk to the beach. The bathtub needs resurfacing and shower went from hot to cool and then, hot again.

This is a quaint hotel with great views of ocean (we had ocean balcony room). You do have to look at the tops of buildings nearby and cross the road to get to the ocean. Great restaurants near by and walkable to cute shopping and beaches. No breakfast.

Furnitures are a bit dated but the staff is trying so hard to clean and maintain it. Good location to the ocean, and the room is very quiet in the night.

No, the ocean was not visible from the room as I requested my view from the room was another building; to see the ocean I had to step out on a balcony and look out to the right and see it over some other buildings at a distance. This was misleading and disappointing. Now that you mention it, I should be asking for a refund. As far as the room it was clean, and the staff was professional and nice. I also didn't like the fact that they charge to self-park, when you pay these prices and drive several hours to stay at a hotel for medical reasons, you should get complimentary parking.

This was my 3rd stay at Inn By the Sea and have loved my stay each time. The staff is always helpful, and friendly and the property is clean and tidy at all times. Love my visits to La Jolla and will always stay at the Inn.

The room was clean and comfortable. However, my room was right next to the elevator, which I could hear. Also, I was on the second floor, and my "balcony" - which was also right next the elevator (there are 2) - faced a landing and parking lot. It was not worth using.

Very easy to check in, check out. Clean. Private. Nice they provide coffee and tea in the morning. Very convenient location to enjoy La Jolla.

We were disappointed that breakfast is no longer served since our last visit and the room was infested with knats.

Great location

You could see a tiny glimpse of the ocean. Room needed lots of help..wall paper bubbled and peeling, bathroom hinges rusty, gouges in ceiling, missing caulking in bathroom, no shower soap or gel only two bottles of shampoo which we used to shower. For the cost per night it was definitely disappointing.

Love the location of the hotel. A few blocks walking to the beach. Restaurants and cafés nearby. Room was damp and smelled damp, but I don’t think that can be helped. I enjoy the coffee that is available in the lounge. Staff is friendly and helpful.

We stayed on the main floor and I never heard any noise from outside our room or above us. It was nice and quiet.

Great location right in town and walkable to everything. Parking was super easy to navigate behind the building. Rooms were spacious and the bed was super comfy. The staff were friendly and accomodating. We really enjoyed our stay and will come back again on our next trip to La Jolla!

I felt it was overpriced for what was offered. It wasn’t an “Inn” but really a hotel. I wouldn’t stay there again.

The staff was extremely accommodating and nice! Fresh coffee each morning! We truly enjoyed our stay.

This quaint inn is so cute. We had extended our trip in San Diego for a day and ended up at the Inn by the Sea. Staff were very nice and we enjoyed our stay.

It was lovely. We enjoyed the location, the view, the staff. Our only complaint would be the sand and dirt on the balcony. But that’s minor. Thank you for a nice stay.

Cozy place near the ocean

Expecting more discount from hotel ..1st time had noise problem and specially on Monday night hotel moved me to another room for 2nd&3rd night .i will never stay in room 109 again

Property was in a walkable neighborhood with plenty of restaurants nearby. Staff was extremely friendly and housekeeping. Did a fantastic job.

The location is good with lots to do in walking distance. Unfortunately parking the night we arrived was really challenging , no parking on site available and had to drive around for quite a while to locate street parking. It got better after the first night, and hotel staff acknowledged the challenge, which was especially challenging due to some unexpected accessibility needs during our trip. Once parking became available on site it is very tight. In general the hotel and room were clean and met our needs. It is a bit dated and pool area is not big, but I think the value is good price wise for the area.

At check-in, the girl wasn't very friendly at all. She seemed very bothered. The older blonde lady was nice. The towels in the room are very rough and small. They definitely need new fluffier and larger towels. The walls are paper thin. We could hear EVERYRHING going on in the other room. I did appreciate the coffee station. Location was convenient to all nearby activities. I think next time I'll try somewhere different.

Absolutely the best deal in the Village ( Downtown La Jolla is called the village) comfortable beds, close to PB/LJ. Traffic going in and out of La Jolla is perfect. Internet is great. Dining options perfect surrounding the hotel. Friendly staff. Parking below as overflow parking. A straight up great place to make your home base in SD.

We stay at Inn by the Sea, La Jolla, whenever we visit San Diego County. Prices are reasonable, the rooms are comfortable, and the staff is friendly and courteous. There are also some great places to eat nearby.

Close to lots of dining. Walkable. Room was clean and large and the beds were very comfortable.

The first floor rooms are terrible because the ceiling to floor windows open out onto the parking lot. One has to keep the black out curtains drawn for privacy so the rooms have no natural light.

No, no no no no no… I would not stay here again… Our room was so bland, there was nothing special at all about our room or the hotel… The pillows were old, the comforters were old, the towels were so old that they hurt you when you were drying off… There was only one place to charge electronics in the room. If someone flush the toilet in a floor above you, your warm shower turned cold. Doors or slamming all night long and would wake us up. I cannot say that this is the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had… But it was certainly the worst hotel I’ve had in a “resort environment “… and was certainly the worst hotel experience I’ve had in the last decade. And I am a 2,000,000 mile flyer, so I have some experience with hotels, etc.Just not good.

Lady in the front desk told us we can’t get a room upgrade because we have to be premium members not just VIP on Expedia, room was supposed to be partial view of the ocean but we did not get to see any ocean at all, we were placed at the side in front of the hotel, the only view we got was the pool. Expected too much from this hotel, probably not coming back

Amazing location. Getting an even number room on top floor is awesome to have ocean view Rooms are a little tired. Plumbing is loud and noisy kids next door could be heard loudly. Staff kind. Parking easy. I have gone back couple times because it’s clean and comfortable and I love the location. But it’s not luxurious or beautiful.

Staff was amazing!

We had a really great stay at the Inn at the sea in La Jolla. The location was amazing and we could walk to the beach, the children’s pool, shops, restaurants, even a grocery store. Nearby there was a beautiful coastal hiking trail, and it was an easy drive to San Diego for other adventures. The hotel was very close to the museum of contemporary art.

This is a beautiful property in an excellent location. You can walk to the children’s pool, watch the jr. Lifeguards, wander into boutique shops and eat or have cocktails at the many restaurants with an ocean view.

This hotel is in an excellent central La Jolla location. Great value fro money. Although an older hotel the hotel was very clean and very well maintained. The beds were very comfortable. Pool looks like new. Great complimentary coffee.Great friendly staff. A shout out to Stephanie who helped return a lost cloth item my wife left behind.Plenty of parking at $20 a day. We would definitely stay again.

I live 4 blocks away and have my condo to my son and family for the weekend, so I was exploring for a way to invite family.

The only thing I would recommend is elevating the bathroom soap products. Otherwise, a great value and experience.

The entire staff, including front desk staff Cheryl and Aimee are so friendly and helpful. This is my 2nd stay and will be my go to stay each time I'm in town.

If coming to inn by the sea. I would recommend a small vehicle for parking. We had with us a Newer F150 and had trouble finding parking even after paying the 20.00 a night for parking. It's not guaranteed unless you have a compact or a small vehicle that can fit in the parking garage
