Coral Reef at Key Biscayne

When I booked the hotel, I really used the pictures and comments to help me decide. I feel like Hotels.com does not do their due diligence to preview and critic the hotels they list on their website. I feel this website (hotels.com) has a responsibility on what they promote on their sites. I am very disappointed. Pool was green, always had to ask for towels, no hand soap (apparently don't use hand soap), never provided sheets for the pull-out couch, my son saw a coach roach, minimal kitchen ware and in the office, I saw multiple keys to my room which heightened my "safety" issue. Seeing so many keys available in the office should require a dead bolt on the room door. I would NEVER stay here again and would never recommend it. I have stayed in many boutique hotels along the coast from ft Lauderdale to the keys and this was unfortunately the worst.

They had my name posted on their door with my room number and keys in my room with door unlocked. Anyone could have seen or been in my room. I walked in and walked out. Everything!! Place could use some updating. Looks much better in the pictures. One of the pictures showed the beach with a caption that said view from the room. That is misleading.

The hotel room was nothing like the picture. It was dirty, the bathroom window and closet door were broken. The apartment smelled horrible and there were stains on the floor and towels. Do not book this place. We left early. I contacted hotels.com for assistance but they were unable to assist because the hotel does not respond to calls or email. This was a blatant bait and switch scam.

The rooms were nothing like the photos. The location is not well maintained. Our bathroom had a broken window. The closet doors were broken. The apartment had a musty foul odor. The appliances and the floors were stained. There were holes in the molding large enough for rodents. When we asked for another room we were told that they were sold out even though there was availability online. Hotel staff were not helpful or apologetic. We checked out early and were not refunded for unused part of the stay. I called hotels.com for assistance, but told they could not help since the hotel had taken our payment, not hotels.com.

Many things were broken/ not working. Shower in main bath only had cold water, could not pull open the large front room window shade,lots of rust stains, etc. The pictures shown on Hotels.com do not look at all like the real place. Also, many of the outside wall condos face a parking lot and that, along with construction on the other side of the lot make it very noisy! I would say adequate and roomy but very basic

Very cute little place. Was spacious, and clean. It's an older property but the staff was friendly and very helpful. Would stay again!

It was a wonderful property for the price. The only issue we had was the water got hot everywhere but the shower. Please fix your hot water in the showers and I would have no complaints. The private beach entrance was a really nice bonus and the pool at the property was nice as well. Loved the room layout and balcony! AC works great! Staff is very friendly and it’s super quiet. If u want to party and be loud don’t come here. We will come back again. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Check in information when I booked reservation said the office would be open until 11 pm, but when we arrived at 10 pm it was closed. A note was on the door with our room assignment and said the door was open and the key inside. The rooms and exterior of the property need updating. Definitily a worn down property. Initially amenities were adequate but minimal. I considered moving to another hotel, but decided to stay and tough it out since it was just myself. On day 3 of 5 night stay I asked housekeeping staff for a refresh of towels, toilet paper and garbage bag for kitchen and she told me (in Spanish - no English) that I needed to get them from the office, which was closed. She reluctantly gave me 1 bath towel and 1 hand towel, but nothing else. I never saw anyone in the office during my stay. Furniture and linens had stains, bathtub and tiled floors had stains and chips, sliding door to terrace didn't lock. Safe was locked shut so I couldn't open and there was no one in office to assist - no matter what time of day I tried. This is definitely a low budget hotel and had I known I would not have booked. Parking was good and there was ample restaurants & shopping nearby and the beach was walkable, but not likely to stay here again.

We enjoyed the quaint pool area, the friendly atmosphere and the nearby restaurants. Other highlights were the complimentary parking, just a short walk down the street, and taking a day to take advantage the hotels bike rentals to explore the parks on either end of Key Biscayne is a must!!

The beds were fairly comfortable...next to most shops. Room was not like their pictures. Was very disappointed. Nowhere to sit comfortable. Apparently thought I had booked a "loft" but was placed adjacent to reception for some reason. This is obviously an apartment building repurposed as a "hotel", so it's like staying in a one bedroom apartment, with too much empty space with flimsy blinds that let in far too much street light at night. Walk to beach is convoluted, and the beach is so-so.

Clean condo however very limited household items. Only 2 towels no other linens. The shower and tub were dirty with hair on the walls. The water was lukewarm at best.

Did exactly what we needed it to do. Rooms were a little dated but clean. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful! We walked to all restaurants and utilized the Freebie service to get to and from Bill Baggs. Would definitely stay here again!

We absolutely loved our stay. Everything was clean and well-maintained, and the location is perfect — close to the beach, shops, and everything you need for a comfortable stay and relaxing vacation. The atmosphere is very peaceful and calming, making it a perfect place to truly unwind. I’d especially like to highlight the friendly staff, as well as Roberto and Idalia — they do an excellent job. The owners are wonderful people who truly care about their guests. And their dog Rocco is just adorable! For the price, everything exceeded expectations. I highly recommend Coral Reef in Key Biscayne. We will definitely be coming back!

Location, because it’s near the beach. Room was nice and kitchen. Staff were very friendly and nice. I think it’s a good value for money. Not a luxury resort, but if you’re looking for basic and good accommodation.

Nothing to like. Dirty, No A/C they brought in an industrial fan, bugs, TV didn't work, water didn't get hot, homeless dogs running and pooping everywhere, owner was rude and didn't offer us any money back after we told her everything infact just laughed in our face.

It’s an older condo building, in a residential condo area, at the end of a tree lined street (loved that). The location is GREAT! and so was the parking, you can take any spot. I don’t know if someone is there in the office 24 hrs. but I’m glad I got there when Marco (the owner) & his wife were there, bc they leave the room open and the key (a regular real door key) inside the room. The room was nice & big, nice outdoor pool, balcony, full kitchen, love the bedroom loft upstairs with comfy bed! This place would be GOLD MINE if it was updated. It def needs updating, The room kinda smelled like bad perfume trying to cover up other odors, they didn’t give you enough towels, or a garbage (only a small one in the bathroom), so I just put a plastic bag on the closet door knob (next to the kitchen) for my garbage & the tub had some stains, but honestly none of this bothered me. I would stay here again.

I loved that direct access to the beach is provided walking (or biking) distance from the location. Given that most of the beach is blocked off, having a corridor in order to access the beach is priceless. Additionally, free parking is included so that lowers the stress too. It was also more of a benefit to have a full kitchen as I didn't always feel like paying for the dining out experience. The furniture - including the bed - need updating. None of it was comfortable. The bed was only OK (pretty firm and I like a firm bed), but the couch and the dining table were painfully uncomfortable. The outside wicker chairs were not so comfortable either. Overall, this is NOT a destination in itself; it's a low cost way to stay on the island but - for me at least - not a place I'm gong to hang out. There were people hanging at the pool so perhaps some folks didn't feel that way. The lofted apartment was kind of cool but there was so little fabric in the expansive space that the echo itself was disquieting. All that space with so little furniture was not enticing. Perhaps some of the other units have better furniture but mine was not so much. The kitchen's supplies were pretty minimal but workable. The coffee pot worked and filters and cups were provided. The grocery store is also close.

The only thing they offered us as compensation was a full discount so we could go elsewhere. Where else could we go in Miami during spring break? The only thing available is the Ritz for $10,000 next-door. While we were out they came in and put a massive queen sized air mattress in the middle of our living/dining space. Did not solve the problem that we paid for two bedrooms and got one. Their great solution only made our room uglier and more cluttered. They act like I’m crazy for being upset that I was sold two bedrooms, paid for them, and only got one. I expect bare bones from this place. I have been here before. But I expect to get what I paid for. This was a switcheroo. They claimed that the system changed my booking to a loft with one bedroom. It’s impossible to believe that the system did that all on its own. They didn’t like that they had sold us a room at the price I paid during Black Friday when I planned this. They decided to sell our room to someone else at a higher price and downgrade us. Totally dishonest. Everyone I talked to said that they needed to ask someone else, check with someone else, they didn’t know, weren’t in charge etc… This is my 3rd visit here and it will be my last.

We had mentioned that we were 3 adults and. 2 kids 13 & 16 ; the reservation said there was 2 bedrooms 1 king and 2 twin bed rooms and yet upon arrival there was only one king bed. There was no one at the reception to have this corrected. We ended staying somewhere else.

I like Key Biscayne, might very well return, but I won't stay here again.

My first room was grimy and dirty. Stains on the walls, mold in the bathroom, moldy shower curtain. Floors were dirty could take shoes off. I changed rooms. It was similar in both rooms. Less mold in the second. No soap provided, no extra rolls of toilet paper. Over alll, rundown and disappointing.

Upon arrival, I was unable to locate the office so I called and got a text, “Sorry I can’t talk right now.” Once I indicated I was checking in, I received a call. I was given the room number and told the keys were inside. No ID needed? Taking a rickety elevator that I’m shocked was up to code (no papers posted to indicate otherwise), we entered the room. A few minutes later a man tried entering the room asking if I worked there and he said a sign was posted that a reception was in my room. After a brief grilling about who I was, I texted to confirm my room number, she confirmed but said nothing in response to my concerns about the man. I have no problem with dated hotels but this wasn’t the issue. The door barely opened and there was a large stain on the floor, rust?, from the door scraping as it opened. The room needed a better cleaning, we only used the refrigerator and purchased paper products. The blinds weren’t all functional- the one in the bathroom wouldn’t close nor would the large window above the sliding door. The toilet ran all night so clearly had a leak. The steps also seemed unsteady, particularly at the first landing. A guest had a dog that barked all day. The elevator was turned off in the evening which was an inconvenience with a big suitcase in tow but management didn’t respond to my concerns about it. Don’t recommend!!

The bathroom and kitchen was a bit outdated, but we didn’t mind. The staff was very friendly. I loved the amount of space you get with these and the beach is only about a 5-minute walk. The location Is great in general If you're not renting a car, most things were a 10-15 minute walk from the apartment.

The location is amazing. Walking distance to great food and the beach and state parks. The communication was not very good. I had to message several times about an advertised available crib and then we still had to request it in person after the first night. The living room sofas were very uncomfortable. The kitchen had no sharp knives and no baking sheets. Showers took literally 5 minutes to heat up and the shower heads were very poor. New shower-heads would help a lot. Pool was great. The facility was very quiet even though we were there at spring break time.

Loved the location for a wedding on the island. But the rest of the place was a disappointment. The pictures are not accurate. This is a apartment building of sorts, run down and not updated. Even the furniture was very sparse. It was clean though.

No hot water unless me you run the water for over 10-15 mins before getting in. They left a used dirty soap bar with some brown stuff on it in bathroom. Elevator is sketchiest elevator I’ve seen in a long time. Consistent noise outside. TVs are so cheap and outdated it’s sad. I couldn’t wait to leave.

Nice private beach access and beach itself is nice with decent waves and clean sand. Pool also nice. Location is good and centrally located in Key Biscayne. Rooms are quite spacious with two floors. WiFi somewhat unreliable. Resort fee higher than what's on website. No daily housekeeping "due to CDC rules". No answer to phone calls but did answer to texts and on the expedia app quite quickly. Despite these issues, would still stay here again due to the price and location and beach access.

Truthfully, contactless check-in was a challenge for me. However, if you can appreciate no frills, clean and accessible to beach and relaxation. This is your place! The staff is welcoming. They even have a luggage caddy and elevator to help you in and out.

Simply lovely. Down-to-earth, old school homey apartment, where you are free to cook for yourself if you want to, drink on the veranda, hang out in spacious rooms, and it is literally a five minute walk from a private beach shared with the Ritz Carlton, as well as a five minute drive from the best restaurant in the area, Costa Med. To those who have written less favorable reviews, I would say, if you've got such high standards, you should spend $1000-$3000 a night next door at the Ritz. A mere ten times the price. For the rest of us, this is a sheer joy, and a beautiful bargain to boot.

The property itself is well maintained, but definitely dated compared to the surrounding properties. Signage for finding the office from the exterior of the building would be helpful for first time visitors. The manager and staff are very friendly. This property is located on Key Biscayne which is a 20 minute drive from Miami and on a toll road. There is a park on each end of the Island with a lot of public beach access. There are grocery stores, a CVS, local parks and many restaurants within walking distance.

TV didn’t work, but at least the wifi & AC did. A dirty neglected place. The advertising pics do not resemble this place. It's like the folks who run this place are intentionally trying to sink it. The beach was wonderful & a close walk. Would never stay here again & plan on following up to recommend removing them from third party site & seeing what I can do to get the addition scam daily fees refunded. A true disappointment. Shysters.

I booked this for my boyfriend’s birthday, and after traveling the entire day, we got there to be told the property manager had no record of our confirmed reservation, and said hotels.com had not sent payment and had no solution and no place for us to stay. I tried to reach hotels.com, and was continually put in a queue, waiting for an actual agent who I spent three hours of my boyfriend‘s vacation night communicating with, with no actual solution and nowhere to stay so we spent our night driving around, looking for somewhere to stay. Unacceptable terrible experience.

We could walk to the beach I was first given a terrible place , moved and still terrible. Insisted on the balcony one which the listing said. The place was meh. Tub didn’t drain, beds weee super hard and creaky. Hard to get more than 1 towel! No wash cloths, couch ,if you could call it that was dirty. Gas smell from the stove , even when not using it. Shades allowed a lot of light to come in. I was glad I brought my eye mask. Picked this over other places because we wanted a pool. Which was cold but nice.

There were a few other very minor issues that the owner should consider correcting. There is no hand soap or wash cloths provided. With that said, the check-in process was smooth, the location is good, and the staff was pleasant.

got in late, after hours, and staff was very helpful in getting us to our room after what had been a very long, stressful day of travel cancelations with the airline. place was reasonably clean location. amenities inside of room. could have been a little cleaner in the bathroom. shower head subpar and water temp not very hot. sliding glass door to balcony did not lock and it was off kilter so it did not shut completely, thus it was VERY loud due to outside noise.

Location was great, close to the beach with private beach entrance. We had a nice Loft unit that had a balcony with pool and street views. Unit was spacious with full size fridge, oven, microwave and dishwasher which helped save money. Walking distance to stores and restaurants. Area felt safe and we felt comfortable walking around, both day and night. Bathroom was small, but the shower had a great pressure and plenty of hot water. Complex was quiet. Unit could use some updates (paint, furniture) but we are not high maintenance so it worked well for us! Value for price was good!

A lack of window shades covering the large window made it difficult to sleep. There were loud neighbors for a few nights and with the thin walls it was like they were standing in the room. The rooms could use some upkeep, as it is showing it's age with wear and tear. Location, ease of check-in, and free parking were all pros.

The building is old and in need of some repairs. The room was large but the furniture was old and worn out and the soft (couch, chair, etc) surfaces were clearly stained and dirty. The floor turned my feet almost black with dirt from walking barefoot.

Microwave did not work and floors needed be mopped besides that room is very comfy. Air conditioner worked great and staff was very friendly.

We only stayed for one night, but the location was excellent. Everything was exactly as described, and we truly appreciated being allowed to check in a few hours early. Thank you for accommodating us. We would definitely stay here again.

The room was good but the cleaning staff was making too much noise at 8 am on a Sunday morning. Clanking the brooms against the railing and screaming at each other. It woke us up and we couldn’t sleep anymore. The curtains also let in way too much light they do not let you sleep in the morning either. Also when we checked into room 206 there was a moldy beer can left. The WiFi also didn’t work. Not very happy…

Stained beds. Dirty ceiling. Stained floors, old dumpy furniture. Stained, ripped towels/rags. The photos online are NOTHING close to actual place. My friend (who didn't book through Expedia) had a slightly nicer room with normal towels, unlike the ripped rags- slightly larger than hand towels that we had.

The suite was clean, the beds were a little stiff for our liking but aside from that the apartment and property were quiet and safe.

I is definitely not a high end building but for the price it is quite adequate. The kitchen was well outfitted with dishes, pots, etc. The bed was comfortable. The only negative I have is that when I climbed into bed between the sheets, I felt something on my feet…..I threw the blankets back to find cracker crumbs or the likw in the bed, obviously the sheets were not new/cleaned properly…..I quickly brushed all the crumbs out of the bed prior to my wife entering or this review would have ended up being VERY negative over a simple oversight of lack of cleanliness. For the price I would stay here again. The location is excellent.

I rented 3 rooms for my family for a weekend in Miami, family wedding. The rooms are spacious. The little kitchen is perfect. The staff that I met were very nice. The only negative about this stay: When you have a lot of people in the living room it gets very loud and echos.

Parking is easy location is convenient and being upstairs was further quiet. We got the second building that looks very updated and rather a random property with that any recent renovations. This property is old but I liked our loft apartment very much. We had a very comfortable bed but our daughter was staying in another apartment and unfortunately its bed was concave and smelled like someone had smoked weed in there, so not every unit measures up. Both were very clean. It is just a shame that they don't put a couple of beds downstairs instead of sofa so a whole family can stay in one unit. I liked the iguanas everywhere outside by the pool. the pool was warm and all the people staying there very friendly. It had an "old Florida " feel to the property. Run down here and there but the price is right for the location and we were able to walk to wonderful dining. Easy hassle free stay and we will return. Also, it seems to be a family business and I like supporting those!

Great location but run down and poorly maintained property. WiFi didn’t work and bedroom was hot despite running a/c at full blast. Mouse scurrying down the hallway toward the pool deck clinched 1 star rating.

Closet doors were very hard to open because railing was very rusted. Bathtub was rusted. Mice eat my fruit. Full construction right in front of my balcony.

Our stay was really nice and the service was great. The apartment did not come with enough towels, but after asking the staff provided. The dishwasher did not work, so we bought paper plates and hand washed the silverware. The AC was great, especially since the days were so hot. When showering, you need to let the water run for about 3-5 min before it comes out warm/hot. The pool was awesome, although the last day we were staying something broke and was green, so they were going to repair the following day. The beach is so close, only a 5-10 minute walk and was beautiful, although there were lots of jelly fish so we had to swim out far. Overall for the price and location it was worth it!

No directions to where the office is. Not even a small sign saying office is this way! Large loft apartment furnished with cheap uncomfortable furniture. There is something in the ac that had me coughing constantly while I was inside. No paper products. Overall clean with the exception of light fixtures. TV’s don’t work. Bed is obviously old now. Online ads of the loft apartment don’t reflect what I actually got. You can see so many reviews about people complaining about where the office is over the years and they still don’t address that, so that should tell you that they don’t give a damn. If you are on a tight budget but driving there then bring paper towels, toilet paper, bath towels, wash cloths, air mattress, extra cushions,coffee and your own tv with your hotspot. If you do bring those items with you for a longer stay then it is not so bad. I recommend this place only in an emergency otherwise find another place. They need to sell this place to a hotel company that knows how to manage this place. It would be an actual gem if they cared. I booked for two nights and left after the first night. I get that it was a low price but it doesn’t make up for the lack of care.

It was good for my needs. Not an exciting vacation destination however. The beach was so/so, The restaurant and bars were nice. Easy shopping. The unit did not have a single pot or pan so I couldn’t make eggs. The staff was very nice.

The couch in the apartment was more like a hard futon. Not comfortable at all and you really couldn’t sit on it and watch TV and be comfortable. The TV was very small and would just shut off with no warning. There was a TV in one of the bedrooms and there was no remote, so you couldn’t even turn it on. The pool was clean and nice. It was just hard to feel like you were on vacation when you couldn’t even sit comfortably to watch tv

Property is decent for the money. Very basic but clean. The loft was enough for 2 people in the king size bed but the pull out sofa was not a ‘double pull out’ as expected but instead a futon not even suitable for one person honestly. Great location and staff were very helpful on the plus.

Apt was large but very dated and smelled of smoke. Good located for my trip.

The facilities have not improved in a long time. Pool was green, dirty halls, cleaning services un-proffesional with loud music sounding while cleaning the rooms. I saw dogs in the property and I didn't know they were aloung.

Although I had a good time and the people greeted us well, I personally do not like when pictures from Expedia or Website don't match reality. The photographer decerves an "Oscar" for best picture in my opinion.

Peaceful location, staff was very helpful and friendly. Beach was about a 10 walk away. Everything was good. Only 1 or 2 minor things, took a few minutes for the water to get hot in the shower and needed to go buy water and ice. Other than that it was a great stay!

Checking was good, but the apartment is old All utensils, bathrooms, bed linen, kitchen were dirty.

The place is old. We rented through Expedia. The price was not bad for two nights. I guess you get what you pay for. The bathroom had mold and rust. The A/C worked good down stairs in the Loft but not upstairs where we slept. The furniture had stains. Some of the lights in the unit did not work. Just a bad overall experience.

We reached out to the host and were told it was unlock, then were sent to the wrong unit. The only thing this place has going for it is that it is in walking distance of the beach and some decent restaurants.

This is a family oriented place to stay. It is cozy, clean and inviting only a short walk to the beach. Clean and quiet. Very nice. Recommended for families that want to be rested and relaxed.

Property is run down. Lock on door did not work properly. Missing numbers on the door. The sofa in the living is extremely small, more of a small futon. Linens are old. Bed was very uncomfortable. Kitchen is poorly equipped. The water in the shower was warm at best. Noise from neighboring hotel loading dock was extremely loud early in the morning. The only positive was it was clean.

The unit that we checked into looked nothing like the photos . The online Expedia images were clearly doctored to make it look way better. Remote didn't work, no bath towels, kitchen sparsely stoked and what was there was very outdated and old. Not clean... The property manager was not available and the house keeper(who was very nice and tried to be helpful) barely spoke English, so very difficult to communicate with. The unit was deplorable. We did not feel safe staying there . We did not stay there and booked a different place.... Obviously would NOT recommend. Also extremely reluctant to ever use/Trust Expedia again. We Should have been more diligent in reading more reviews.

A lovely looking condo with balcony. Very nice bed and bathroom in the loft. Only 2 bath towels - no other towels. No coffee or filters. Key to the beach didn't work. And couch is very uncomfortable.. great location!

However, the whole place is in disrepair, the elevator out of order (good luck carrying heavy bags up the stairs), our dishwasher was not totally installed, towel bars were broken so there was no place to dry your towels, the water machine in the office is broken. Despite what the website says there is no housekeeping. Our unit smelled bad in the kitchen, couldn't find the source of the smell. The blinds are so thin it is impossible to sleep if you like it dark. The outside lights and the morning sun keep it almost light enough to read! They gave us 2 towels each and no bathmats (though the did give us a bathmat when we asked), and no washcloths at all! The key they gave us to the "private beach" did not work, and it made us wonder if that was a scam. The place was not filthy, but certainly far from spotless, we had to wipe out drawers before putting anything in them. The website says toiletries are provided, however all that is there is shampoo and conditioner, not even any type of soap! I would not go back.

This was the third stay and it has always been great. The Office assistant is very accommodating and friendly. The apartment rentals are minutes away from my Doctor's office, the beach and State Park. It's Great 👍

The location is convenient, if you want to be on Key Biscayne. The staff is friendly. I would not recommend staying here unless you are ready to slum it.

Arguably one our worst travel experience. The staff is rude and untrained, the rooms look like they belong in a short stay motel by the airport. Do yourself a favor and never stay here!!!

The pros - the beach is a short easy walk away and a key is provided to the private beach area shared with neighboring resorts. The beach is pristine and amazing. We did rent an umbrella for $10 from the hotel. The pool was functional and clean and the iguanas were fun to watch. We made the best of our trip but would not stay here again.

big room! key biscane was a great relaxed area in comparison to Miami. glad we made the drive out to stay here, it was worth it. lots of cute restaurants nearby. nice that there was beach access. we didn't use the pool as we were out and about most the time.

Amazing location as its close to the beach and town and with free parking. Very simple set-up in the units. Its not fancy...its dated and that is why the price is reasonable. Our unit was clean and we loved having a kitchenette and a TV. Walk to the beach and to town - again amazing location. There is noise due to early morning garbage trucks and cars parked around the building but that is to be expected.

Nothing fancy but it was clean and comfortable. My only complaint is that the patio door did not secure at all. It's above ground but adjacent to another unit's balcony so as a solo female traveler that was a little unsettling. Overall it was a good deal though and I'd probably stay again.
