Motel 6 Joliet, IL - I-80

Pretty bare bones.. Higher rating if there had been coffee. Rooms were clean, parking lot very well lit, nice staff. Older place but for a $80 room, it was slightly better than expected.

Staff was helpful in letting us switch rooms to a ground level. Room (very humid and bathroom was tiny) ehh, beds were ehh, we were robbed and our hotrod wasn’t stolen so there is that.

The room was dirty, bed was hard, no chairs, closet or hangers, towel bar was torn off, secondary door lock was broken, no coffee in room, I could go on and on

Check in was alright, the property was what you’d expect from a cheap motel, burn holes on every surface, nothing much offered in the way of amenities except two bars of soap and a few towels. Water pressure was nice! Off putting signs, the security lock on my door was broken, everything felt sticky, and second morning I found a cockroach. I left early. Just couldn’t bring myself to stay there another night.

The staff at the desk when we checked in and when we checked out were very pleasant and helpful. Mattress closest to the bathroom in the 2 queen bed room was comfortable. The light over the sink in the 2 queen bed room woud not turn on and I forgot to report it to the staff. The toilet in the 2 queen room was not a tall one making it difficult to get up, The heaters in both rooms were excellent. Refrigerator in the 2 queen room had a small freezer which was great. Refrigerator in the king room was small. No breakfast, no coffee or coffeemaker in the rooms. The handicap, accessible room had a tub instead of a walk in shower which makes it difficult for an elderly person to get in and out espeially if they have artificial knees so is more of a hazard if trying to use the shower. The mattress in the king handicap room had a big dip in it so was uncomfortable. The king room had something all over the tub so would not use-failed to inform the desk staff. No phones in the rooms. Hotel was a little run down but the rooms were nice and tvs worked

I didn't like nothing about it The guy at the front desk was trying to swindle me and convince me into a $99 deal that I wasn't interested in because I had already booked What I didn't like is that the TV didn't have a remote they came to my room with two remotes and still didn't get it fixed so I was there throughout the whole evening without a television I was told they would be back they never appeared back to fix the issue

I hated the entire experience ! There was a hold in the wall that lead into the next room like just all around ghetto!!! I need a credit or my money back!!! Disgusting room ,. Not cleaned at all The hole in the wall, the dirty tub, the people living next door , I hated it all

MY Privacy

The first room we were given the key card didn't work. The front desk clerk came and tried to get into the room with a crowbar, which was unsuccessful. Then we were placed into a second room and the dead bolt didn't lock, we killed not one but three cockroaches on the night stand and there was no remote for the TV

Absolute wreck, the table was torn off the wall and in the middle of the floor. There was a dirty towel on the bed. The entire place was not livable. We asked for a refund and left.

No breakfast to evaluate. The desk clerk was very pleasant and helpful. The room was tidy and bathroom clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. The middle of the night verbal altercation on the balcony and dog barking were a bit disturbing, but they settled down after about 15 minutes.

The location I kept coming across cockroaches

I like that the towels were kept at the vanity / sink outside of where the toilet & shower is. Ecoli from the toilet (there was no toilet lid) can spread 6 to 8 ft in all directions plus stick to the walls & surfaces, remaining there for days which means multiple guests worth of ecoli. The end table closest to the window was sticky with previous guests coffee or beverage residue. We cleaned it ourselves when we noticed it, for obvious reasons, also the staff at the desk was very unfriendly. There was ALOT of noise, commotion & dogs barking.

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Noisy, people bumping music at 3am. Dirty, don't even think about walking barefoot, you'll probably catch a disease. Bags of trash sitting outside rooms, etc. Just gross.

The room was clean, had a problem enter the room. First time I have stayed at a place where you could not watch tv unless you put in your password or sign up to watch. Believe me I did not do that.

We did not stay & would like a full refund. We opened the door & the smell was overpowering. The beds looked like to cots. Took 10 seconds for us to say we can't stay here. The clerk was cominng down the sidewalk & told me I couldn't get a refund from him. There was garbage all over outside too.

The parking lot is not very convenient to the rooms, unless they give u a room by the front, so there was a really long walk every time we made a trip to the car and the 3 times to the front office when the keys were giving us issues. The people in the room next door were grilling out on the 2nd floor, right in front of the hotel room door, & were partying outside loudly until 12:30am. There was no way that was within fire code, and the front office had cameras everywhere & pointed straight at them all night. They could see that it was going on. When they snuffed out the fire when they were done, all of the excess smoke came billowing out, straight to our window A/C unit, and into our room. Even our bags smelled like smoke when we left. It took a while to get the TV to work, and the taped-together remote was difficult to use. A/c worked. Floors clean. Bed was fine.

The room was that kind of grim you get from not cleaning anything well for a very long time. You know the sort, mystery splashes that were never cleaned and floors that have lost their texture. On the plus side I didn't find any bed bugs so thats a star right there!

All the facility is worn up and need renovation. The room was fairly clean but lacked comfort. The walls are made out of paper, so you hear everything happening outside your room. I have woken up several times during the night because of someone screaming or talking at night. In addition, there are many people who live in the hotel permanently, smoke at every corner and smell bad. Nightly price doesn't worth it.

Check in with a young lady was not very pleasant or welcoming. I was entering through the wrong front door instead of the side door with my toddler on hand and she seem very bothered and was not comforting at all.

Motel 6 is excellent. I think the air freshener or cleaning agent is too strong

My stay was not pleasant at all!! stayed two nights, two different rooms. 1st room and stay was ok besides the air conditioner. Was leaking water and almost slipped during the middle of the night. 2nd stay was even worse! Room looked roomier and was ok till night came. The roaches came out!! It started when hearing a beeping noise in the outlet so I decided to unscrew to make sure nothing illegal was going on, and noticed roach droppings and eggs! Not sure what the beeping was. Shortly after soon as it was light out, they were popping out from behind the frame on wall, after killing a few I could not sleep so kept a side light on and waited. Few more had popped out and that was enough for me. Couldn't sleep after that.

Found Roaches the next morning attempting to take a shower, I had an anxiety attack and was so disturbingly disgusted and disappointed I couldn’t even shower I shook out my belongings and left asap horrible experience

It’s a really nice property and we slept really well and we were able to recover from two days of really long travel! We will definitely be staying here again and we have stayed here in the past so we always love this place!!!

Red roof inn cancelled my booking so I had find another hotel after a 4 hour drive from Wisconsin. It’s also hard to travel with 2 bigger dogs but motel 6 is always a good choice. Not only did they have rooms available on short notice, but the dogs were free to stay. My room was clean. Housekeeping was so nice. Management was nice, let us check out late and even laughed at me getting dragged around the parking lot with my cane corso. I never had a bad stay at a motel 6. Would definitely book again if I am in the area

Wow. I was skeptical to book “Motel” 6, I’m used to hotels. I’m from Chicago and I know my state. I move to Washington state last year and I travel for work now. Very surprise on how clean and nice Motel 6 Joliet was. Years back Motel6 was one of the lowest price places to stay and run down. Excellent stay. Thanks to all the good reviews I read. Very helpful. I would definitely stay there again in my way back home. Very very please with my stay.

My go-to hotel when I am in the Joliet area. Rooms are always clean. Microwave, refrigerator, heat and air conditioning always works perfectly. The front desk is extremely accommodating to me whenever I come and it is appreciated. I have stayed here COUNTLESS times and never had an issue whatsoever. You cant beat the price for the friendliness and clean accommodations you will get. It is right off of I-80 so if you are driving through stop here for the night.

This was a pass thru for our drove home. Not expecting much but upon arrive of entering to the room. All you could smell was weed. The bathroom was discussing with a toilet that was in need of its monthly cleaning. There was yelling from the rooms below us and car alarms going off. Slamming of doors. Definetly wait i would call a roach motel. Beds were uncomfortable. Thought about leaving but we needed so.e reast from driving half way across the country.

Our key would not work to open our door. So, each time the front desk worker had to come up and use a computer apparatus to open it. The room was nonsmoking but smelled terrible. A couple outlets in the room did not work.

was a first floor room, bottom of door was slightly kicked in so you could feel the breeze from outside. you can tell they ‘remodeled’ a little, but it’s honestly sloppy. the pics on their site have to be from when they just redid a room.

Absolutely terrible!!! Bathroom had bugs, microwave didn’t work, no hair dryer, no ice bucket, no hair dryer, light above bed flickered so bad you couldn’t stand it and the tv wouldn’t shut off and remote didn’t work. Need I say more!!! Would be very happy if I received a full refund

This was not a good hotel experience for me at all. There were roaches all over the room. Roaches in the bathroom, on the bed, in the fridge, behind the TV, everywhere. I had to get an insecticide in order to stay. I complained to the front office and I would like to get a refund.

It smells like cigarettes as soon as you walk in the room and I saw roaches. The front desk guy was very helpful and gave me a better room with no roaches! Definitely wouldn’t recommend booking a room there unless you absolutely need to.

It smelled clean BUT once we got into room we started noticing bugs. At first we were like ok 2 bugs..it happens until we realized it was roaches and they were everywhere. So lights stayed on all night and we stayed ip all night and we left at 6am and when we sayed something to front desk staff he laughed and sayed there was no way there were roaches but he would take care of us the next time. What next time? Wont ever stay there again. Oh and when we went to leave the riom some guy was just randomly sleeping in a computer chair right outside our door. What?

Everything was good. The only thing was the room smelled like cigarettes. Not sure if it was the A/clC or the people smoking outside and the odor went to the room. Otherwise everything was good.

We asked for a non smoking room and the room had definitely been smoked in. It did say non smoking on the door.Toilet did not flush properly. Room was clean! Fridge and microwave worked.

I had requested a room with a king bed instead it was a room with 2 double beds. Not anytime during my check in was that mentioned to me. Then the door was very hard to open. You had to lift the handle up then down to get in. The lock didn't work unless you leaned on the door to push it fully closed. The first time I stayed here it was wonderful no issues. This second time not so great

The room had roaches! After calling the desk, he offered a $0.24 credit! It was unnerving and i sat up all night because of my unease. Find somewhere else to stay!

My room had 3-4 roaches running around on the walls and on the counters! When I asked for another room, I waited 15 minutes for the housekeeper to give me the new key, she didn’t speak English either so I couldn’t ask her to check the new room for roaches. As soon as I walked in, it was 3 roaches behind the door! I gave them the key back and just slept in my car. Never again!!

That was my first time to visit Motel 6 in Joliet when me and my buddy had a great weekend stay. I'm totally satisfied with this motel on McDonough and Larkin. I can't wait to get a room again instead of Red Roof Inn across the street. That was a great, excellent customer service.

The room was fine and the check in, behind bulletproof glass, was fine and the official friendly. I don't really care for hotels which have permanent residents with unchained dogs and cats, doors propped open, trash everywhere, prostitutes surrounding us, a sign which read: We do not rent rooms by the hour. This is absolutely the most frightening property in over 40 years of traveling. The 5.2 rating was a gift. Very, very scary here.

This hotel seems more for long term stay as the whole bottom level were for families to live in. I did not walk anywhere by myself. Good for one quick night.

Huge rips in a chair that were covered with scotch tape, cigarette burns in the blanket, moldy dirty top of the toilet tank, and the worst was that the entire floor felt slimy. I brought my shoes and socks into the bathroom with me when I showered so I didn't have to walk on it in my bare feet again. I'm pretty low maintenance but this was bad.

Very rundown. Check in area was poorly organized and noisy. My room was far away from parking and dimly lit corridor. Several noisy gatherings and groups just hanging out. Would not have stayed if I had not been afraid of losing my deposit and not been very tired.

This place is a dump. If you google “seedy motel” I’m fairly certain this filthy monstrosity is the wikipedia page’s photo. Room stank of marijuana, floors were filthy. Beds had large stains. Plumbing was barely functional and noisy. Parking lot is too small and full of all sorts of sketchy individuals. Hookers on the curb out front. Door locks barely functional as frame and door had visible pry-bar damage outside and thanks to non-existent weather seals, daylight was visible all the way around. Mildew on door and window frame due to condensation caused by an AC unit stuck on 60F and full fan speed. I have stayed in hotels in third world countries that were cleaner and more secure. The pay-by-the-week/month residents blasted loud music all day and shouted and screamed all night. First time I have “slept” fully clothed and armed in the US. Thankfully had a sleeping bag with me so did not have to come into contact with whatever was on the beds.

Great place for its cost! Had a friendly staff, clean rooms, and a convenient location. Highly recommend!
