I recently stayed at the Double Tree by Hilton for work. The facility was clean; however, the rooms are a bit outdated. Staff was friendly and polite. Pool/patio area has a beautiful view of the bridge and riverfront. Overall, it wasn't a terrible stay.

This hotel needs a complete renovation, and fast. I’ve stayed here in the past and it has gotten much worse than it was before. The paint is peeling off the walls in the hallways, the carpet is disgusting and our shower wouldn’t drain so the water stayed in there making the tub have a ring and nasty. Whomever put the shower doors on didn’t think clearly about how they were installed so you have to get in the shower to turn it on because it only slides one way and that’s the only way to actually turn the shower on. The ladies at the front put on a good show of nice but they had their own set of attitudes. For the amount of money you pay and charges they add on, this place should be too priority for a makeover.

Overall, the hotel is in need of a major facelift, and the rooms should be upgraded and modernized. The only positive aspect of my stay was the location—the hotel is right on the water and offers nice views. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not stay at this hotel again.

I arrived at approximately 9 PM with my young daughter after a long trip and was informed that a $100 deposit was required on a card only. I had $80 available on my card and offered to pay the remaining $20 the following morning. I also offered cash, but every solution was refused. My husband respectfully called the front desk to help find a solution, and instead of assisting us, the staff member threatened to call the police. The lack of professionalism and willingness to help was extremely disappointing. After finally checking in, I discovered multiple issues with the room. The bedding contained visible stains, the chair was stained and dirty, there were signs of water damage on the ceiling, and the trash bin still contained garbage left behind by previous guests. Finding someone else’s trash immediately raised concerns about whether the room had been properly cleaned and inspected. Traveling late at night with a small child is stressful enough without being treated this way. Between the poor customer service, intimidation, and unacceptable room conditions, this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have had. Photos were taken to document these issues.

Room was definitely outdated for the extreme price u had to pay on a Wednesday not only to stay there but now. But since Ruth's Chris's Steak house took over the parking lot u get charged 22 dollars a night just to park and u can't pay inside like most hotels u have to scan a QR code or text to pay which is terribly annoying infact more than annoying

Friendly staff. Very comfy bed but the room is janky. Old old carpeting, closet doors didn’t close, stains on the chair, it looked like a dog chewed the bathroom vanity. outlets, light switches & smoke detectors were coming off the wall. Bathtub/shower had stains on the tub that looked like dripped spackle or some sort of stain that they just covered over

We had a suite with a pullout and a regular room. The suite with the sofa bed only had an extra pillow and no extra bedding. After about an hour of waiting and having to go down to the front desk, we got two extra top sheets and a fitted sheet but they were out of blankets. We stored wedding desserts in the suite since the regular rooms don’t have fridges. We went back to our suite in the morning and the room had been cleaned and emptied even though we didn’t check out. The desk host said it was because it was empty and the DND sign wasn’t on the door (the signs fall off the door every time you open it). Luckily, they had stored our desserts and items away so we were able to retrieve them but I don’t think it’s right to clean a room if a guest hasn’t indicated they are leaving.

I’ve always loved this Double Tree in Jax because you get all the comforts and qualities of Double Tree and a beautiful view of the city and river. The staff here is so much nicer than the other Jax location too. They make communication super easy. It’s always an affordable upscale stay. My two complaints were the new parking system. Paying to park in their garage via third party app and a CRAZY amount wasn’t cool. And I wasn’t able to shower because the drain was backed up and it overflowed. But they absolutely offered to compensate in some way possible which is difficult when you book third party (Expedia) so I’m still waiting to see what happens with that.

The hotel was very old, not well maintained. Elevators were slow and sounded old. The carpet in our room was in bad condition and appeared not to be properly vacuumed. no towel bar in the bathroom. There was a load noise (probably the elevator) above our room. Came and visited Jacksonville for the first time on vacation and stayed here for 6 days, along with a friend who stayed in a separate room. We loved the location, riverfront view and pool area. The staff were very friendly and helpful. However, this hotel needs work and upgrades, to put it kindly. Here are a list of inconveniences that we both found very annoying: my friend was unable to receive hot water during his showers regularly, my sink clogged and was also leaking all over the bathroom floor, my room key lock had to be fixed and they charged me $152 for parking for 6 days. And last but not least; there was NO water machines and the ice maker did not work. We are both very simple men from the Midwest who were just looking for the necessities and don’t like to complain. I was pissed on numerous occasions by these inconveniences. Above all, this hotel has very friendly and helpful staff with much potential. But overall, it was a disappointing experience.

We did however have a nice view on our balcony of the River and Jax. House keeping was very accommodating unlike the front desk staff. The breakfast was very undesirable and the kitchen had a difficult time keeping the buffet food filled. Quite honestly, We felt we overpaid for our stay....should have read previous reviews. Hotel is outdated. No Mini fridge. Bathroom was small, water backed up in tub, tub and sink faucets were dirty and falling off, no room for toiletries in bathroom. Carpet in room was nasty and dirty. TV didn't work. Bugs (not naming what kind) were found in rooms and stairwell walls. Way overpriced!!

The front desk staff was amazing. Turner really helped us out a lot and was able to get us into our room early. She helped me with my Hilton rewards account. We ate lunch at the bar at the hotel. Rambo was our server. He was a one man show running the bar and taking food orders. He treated us like royalty. They were amazing. The hotel is definitely older and the rooms could use some upgrades. New carpeting and paint. But the lobby in common areas were great. Beds were comfortable. It would’ve been nice to have a refrigerator in a microwave in the room. For our leftovers. But overall, we would stay there again.

The room was so gross I had to tell my kid to wear shoes the whole time. The bathroom was gross; pretty much any surface looked like it wasn't cleaned. We checked in late in the evening. The room we were originally given was gross, and the bed was broken in the middle. We changed rooms and ended up in another dirty room. The hallways are filthy, and the exterior is unkempt. I have never been to a Doubletree in this shape. Hotel staff claim that it's due to the age of the building. I'm calling b/s on that. This building had a 12 million dollar upgrade 11 years ago. Poor management and staff thriving off ruining the Doubletree name have ruined this location, and a complete overhaul is needed. Or, just sell it to Motel 6; then there might at least be a name that suits the state of this hotel.

Stayed elsewhere due to medication needing fridge - returned the next day and it was there by the afternoon - no other major issues. My trip was ruined due to we had to move to three different rooms within 24hrs after arriving. First room assigned bed was slept in and appeared to be occupied. Instead of the manager offering to have housekeeping reclean the room, I was offered another room even worse. The carpet was so bad and disgusting which later I found was a work room by previous construction men who had dropped tar all over the floor and this room should never have been assigned to anyone. I was told there weren't any other rooms and was not given any option to wait on another room even though the hotel was empty and we were there two hours before check in. Due to lack of resolve from the manager who didn't tell me she was the manager at the time of my complaint, I wasn't given a choice. I did not sleep comfortable because of the condition of the room. Another attempt from another associate was made to resolve my situation for my last day there for the next day only to be given a room with no hot water and we were the only one on that side of the hotel. I later found out by the associate from maintenance that this side usually have hot water issues and they were working on that so why were we assigned this room when management knew this and why were we the only one on this side of the hotel. There were other guests on this floor but on the other side where there were no issues with hot water. This caused me an emotional meltdown and my trip was ruined.

The location was perfect and our view of the fireworks on the river, from our room, was amazing. Be prepared to spend almost $27 ($22 + "convenience fee, which cannot be avoided, taxes) a night to self park, I did not see that mentioned in the listing, however was not entirely surprised as it seems to be a standard. Valet parking was available, but we did not utilize it. The hotel room had asthetic issues whitch affected our stay, not even a little bit, just worth mentioning for those that have that concern. The room had some dings and dents, the sink and the shower were not a quick drain. The pillows were quite squishy. No, I did not complain or mention these things to the hotel staff, as for our purposes, the hotel was fantastic and will look at staying there again.

Valet service was understaffed and disorganized. On check out, they tried giving me the wrong car. On entering our room, there was a large pile of toilet paper in the toilet. Cloth chair had multiple stains on it. No chairs on balcony. Ate dinner in bar area. There was an extension cord which was buzzing and making noise plugged into a wall outlet with a broken cover plate. Understaffed. Waited over an hour for food and huge delay between bringing out meals. I finished mine before some in my party even received their food, and I am a slow eater. One elevator broken and delays for using elevators was ridiculous. No refrigerator in room. Bathroom sink drains very slow. Staff was pleasant but clearly overwhelmed in all areas.

The room was very musty. The issue was not resolved upon letting them know. I’ve been going back-and-forth trying to get this issue resolved, and nothing was done. I was also told and confirmed by a manager, but they were not there. However, it should’ve been taken care of right away and it was not and why they did apologize for it. It does not indicate the issue and that will not resolved.

My stay at The DoubleTree was horrible. Me and my wife were there to celebrate New Years but there was nothing new to see. The hotel rooms are outdated, we were welcomed to a used hand rag in our room, we were also welcomed to a used soap bar in our sink. On top of these things, our bed was not properly made to our liking and there was also a hole in our ceiling. The hole comes from the moisture/water that was in our ceiling with multiple bubbles and this bubble decided to pop. Lastly, be prepared to have a freezing cold room, because the thermostat does not work, whatsoever. This DoubleTree needs to be named the “Singletree” an maybe they can work on these oblivious problems.

Carpet was dirty and had plastic tags on floor so it wasn’t vacuumed , bathroom sink had someone else’s whiskers from shaving. Saw a live cockroach on sink. Room smelled like fish when we walked in. Was very disappointed in the smell and room cleanliness. No refrigerator in room so if you eat at restaurant and have leftovers you are out of luck. The location is great and the view is perfect! But…The rooms are seriously outdated and in need of repair. Management has really let this place go downhill. I can’t imagine it ever being nice. Peeling wallpaper , cracked tiles, discolored grout, frayed towels and a stained couch. Maybe I just got the worst suite in the place. I hope so. It’s possible they have avoided maintenance and are planning a renovation, but it is long overdue. You might not want to take someone here if you are trying to impress them.

Good location and value, beautiful view from the balcony of our junior suite (king bed + sofa bed), but there were some issues. Altho we registered 3 guests, so someone obviously was going to use the sofa bed, there was no blanket or pillow for it. When I asked at the desk, they were "out," both nights of our stay. Sofa bed was not comfortable. We were only given 1 bar of soap so we had to move it back and forth from sink to shower. There was no plug near the coffee set-up so it had to be moved across the room. Coffee was not re-filled by housekeeping. Carpet is very worn. Breakfast was understaffed. They had a menu but we were only given the option of the buffet (so I paid $19.95 for my son to have a bagel). Staff was very pleasant, however.

Doors have holes in them and massive amounts of paint on them. Carpets have stains in them. Wall coverings are cracked and falling from the wall. Trim work is nonexistent or broken/cracked. Windows have not been cleaned, most have paint overspray with caulking and sealant everywhere in the corners. Light fixtures were broken and drooping from the hallway ceilings. Walk in showers had uneven floors, cracked tiles, tiles caulked back into place, worn out shower door rollers. Room furniture had visible signs of water/flood damage and discoloration. Pool was filled with dirt and wasn't cleaned. Comcast cable TV service, but TVs are 15 years old and can't even display channels without signal loss. Their 'offer' was 20,000 Hilton points (~$100 value) or a free appetizer and drinks in the restaurant when I asked to comp a meal instead (~$40) Offer was so insulting I can't even gather my thoughts to even respond. We spent well over $1100 for the hotel. Hilton Corporate- Maybe you could do better, because I have stayed at mid-tier hotels nicer than this! You couldn't pay me to come back to Hilton.

Expedia didn't disclose the pet fee of $50 nor the parking fee, so the surprise additional fees started this trip off very rocky. I ended up parking 1 of my vehicles out on the street, and was able to have my fur baby. I booked a Junior king suite with riverfront view and the only thing that was amazing was the view. Room 537, although I put the thermostat to 60, the room stayed at 76 the 4 days that I stayed. It was rather warm and Im thankful for the 1 day that the temperature dropped outside, lending us a cool nights rest. The 1st comforter was stained with the look of possible mildew but thats not confirmed. Management offered another, and unfortunately it was stained as well. Because the room was warm, we just didnt use them at all so no real biggie. The breakfast was good, yet pricey, but a good standard breakfast. The gym was nice as well. Management checked in day 1 and 2, but after i mentioned the conditions, I received an apology, and didnt hear back on day 3 so I messaged later on the evening of night 3 and management offered some points or free breakfast to which i declined. A manager messaged me the morning of check out again apologizing and offered to send a certificate for another stay. I don't know the details of what that certificate will cover so i can't say that I'll come back. My Christmas/Birthday Vacay was definitely spoiled but what can I do n

The hotel is very dated, carpet worn, stained, dirty, filthy. Walls & doors marked up everywhere. Stains on matress cover, tub stained & gross, elevators raggedy...very loud & each time it was used. Sounded like it was falling apart or sound the the building was being demolished which was very loud & disturbing because our room was near the elevator. Im a light sleeper plus no peace while awake due to the noisey elevator. One person checking in during a holiday week & one valet attendant. The carpet in the lobby leading to overpriced Ruth Chris is worn & disgusting. To be downtown & a riverfront property. It desperately needs renovated & updated. This is a very poor representation for the city of Jacksonville for guest. Spend the money & make it worth the stay & hire more help. This Doubletree can definitely afford to do much better than this. We literally showered in crocs. We definitely didn't put our bare feet on that nasty carpet. The elevator slams shut & very loud. Many gave this same review that i now see after the fact. Great location...just fix the place up like it should be in such a nice location..

The room furnishings are worn and tattered; the ac unit was dusty and dirty and it didn’t work properly Dot there was no heat blowing only cold air and it was loud so I had the maintenance technician just turn it completely off and I had to just bundle up in the room to keep warm. Just before check out, I had to retrieve my own luggage cart and when I got back to the room, the keys didn’t work. I had to have someone to come up and let me in the room so that I could gather my belongings on the cart take it downstairs and check out. Location is what has kept me coming back the last two times, but this will most likely be my last time staying at this location. And it’s too bad because the staff are very helpful and accommodating, but the building is so worn down and raggedy.

I expected a much better room for a downtown hotel on the waterfront. There was lots of rusted metal in the bathroom, a missing handle to slide the stand-up shower glass door, damage around the room's door frame, and an engineer had to replace the battery in the door panel because my keycard stopped working. The wood around the A/C floorboard was unsightly (likely termite issues) and there weren't many nearby food places. I definitely should've stayed elsewhere for my birthday weekend. Very disappointing for my first time in Jax.

Doubletree need to upgrade the furniture as well as paint the rooms. Also, they was a drainage leK in the garage where the water was like a fountain coming from under the cement which left several puddles when ot rained. Not a good stay for the money. I hate to leave reviews like this but I truly wish I saw more reviews about these issues before booking. I booked a 2 night stay here for my boyfriends birthday & was so excited to have a river front view. As SOON as we walked out the elevator I said to him, these floors are really really dirty, I mean not just spills and stains but trash & dust I was immediately nervous. Our room is at the very end of the hall & we are passing all the doors like okay this hotel is very old, you can tell by how the doors look. I open the door to our room & my heart just dropped. The carpet was so old & dirty, stains on all the furniture, the microwave was yellow and dirty (supposed to be white) & the bathroom was literally like a hole in the wall, I dont even know any other way to explain it, we both said there is no way we are putting our feet on that shower floor. We were booked 2 nights but after about 20 minutes in the room we booked a different hotel & checked out. Went to the front desk where I JUST checked in 20 minutes earlier mind you & there's no "oh no, why are we checking out?" "Was something not right with the room" nope , the only thing she said is. "The room you booked is nonrefundable", no concern about me just checking in with her 20 minutes ago & now leaving. Really really gives Hilton a bad look, especially being a member. I wish I took pictures but y'all I just wanted to get out of that room as soon as possible. There was absolutely nothing okay about it, except the view.

We had booked this property as we wanted to be on the riverfront. It was a very pretty view from the 10th floor facing the river. It also had a Ruth Chris steak house which was a wonderful $400 dinner. Unfortunately, that is where the beauty ended. We had upgraded to a king suite. We wanted a larger space with larger bathroom. That is not what we got. They placed us in a room right next to the elevator. Our headboard was on the elevator wall. We also had a broken thermostat which was reading 62 degrees. Maintenance did come and fix that. We had no hot water in the shower and the room was dirty. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone. I reached out to the staff and they did nothing for us. Very unfortunate.

I stayed at this hotel due to close to office in downtown Jacksonville and it's a Hilton Property. Unfortunately this is a very old and not well kept property. This hotel needs an upgrade, some attention put into it. As far as down in the check in area, it looks nice but once you step off the elevator on the room floors, it's rather dirty, from the hallway into the rooms. Great Location but I would find somewhere different to stay in the future.

We picked this room for the view and its proximity to the hospital. I needed a place to recover from surgery because we traveled far and had a post op conference 2 days later. The night before the surgery I had to take a shower. The bath tub was dirty, the water was cold, the service guy couldn’t fix the temperature, and the drain backed up with dirty water to above my ankles while showering. They offered another room which had similar problems and was actually dirtier. The next day they offered a suite, which was a larger room with similar problems. They offered another suite which had fewer problems, but the shower water and sink water was burning hot and the service guy could not fix that. The desk people explained that in October a renovation was scheduled. Hilton should not open until they fix their rooms. I am not alone. There were many many people complaining at the desk and asking for different rooms. When we moved from the 4th floor to the seventh floor my wife had to move everything herself because due to my surgery I could not lift. Do yourself a favor and don’t select this hotel for your stay in Jacksonville.

We were having a special evening out and decided to splurge and pay for a suite. We walked into the room and were overwhelmed by a terrible musty smell. Unfortunately, we did not have time to do anything about it because we had to meet friends for dinner. Later we wanted to use the jetted tub an the jets did not work. One of the knobs was broken off, so it's not like they didn't know. I did ask to talk to a manager but was told one was not available. I emailed my concerns instead and two days later I am still waiting for a reply. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

If you are looking for a mid 70's hotel this is for you! Extremely outdated furniture, bathroom and carpet. It is in poor condition. My room was supposed to have a microwave and fridge but had neither, I had to request they be put in my room, I am paying for it. My tub/shower wouldn't drain and to take ankle deep showers until maintenance came to fix it. The only thing going for this property is the view, if you have a balcony room and the STAFF!

However, the bathroom was very small and the tub/shower was very awkward and difficult to get in and out of safely. There was no counter space and it was difficult to get hot water without losing water pressure. There was no refrigerator in the room and no streaming options on the TV. Overall, since we had other things to do in Jax and spent a limited amount of time in the room, we just dealt with it, but it was far from the best hotel experience I've had.

I reserved a junior suite that was a king bed with an extra sofa, bed and extra space because I’m in a wheelchair. But I did not get that. I got a room with two queen beds that were so high. I could not get up on the bed myself the bathroom door was so narrow. I could not get into the bathroom the entire time I was staying at the hotel. I could not get into the bathroom. Plus, the room was so tight. I kept getting stuck between the chair and the bed. I was it smelled so bad in the room. It smelled like a dog at pee or poo in there and my eyes are burning and it stunk so bad the entire night and the air conditioner was so loud. It sounded like a freight train was coming through the bedroom. And the rug looked disgusting. It was like so dirty gross like dogs had done their business on it way too many times it was super super unhappy with it and then when it came time out for me to tell them about it, everybody kept hanging up on me or putting me off on somebody else and not a single person would help me mitigate that horrible situation.

We were in Jax to enjoy family. We decided to view the friendship fountain which was fabulous. The hotel has a walkway along the River straight to the fountain. It felt safe and family friendly. The Doubletree is also at the foot of the Main Street Bridge and were able to drive downtown Jax to restaurants and eateries. The pool area was great and Ruth Chris' restaurant was wonderful; both food and staff. Wonderful time!

The police had to disperse some juveniles from the nearby fountain on our last night there and they were running through the parking garage and jumping on cars. As we were entering the hotel through the parking garage the police were there trying to clear the area of the juveniles, just so we could get to the elevators to go to our room. It was a very unpleasant experience.

I came down for my birthday trip at first the girl at the counter was very nice and when I told her it was my bday she gave me free parking and I appreciated that . When I got to the room I realized I had no fridge or microwave which caused a lot of problems with keeping drinks cold and reheating any food we had . On the very first night a lot of young kinds ransacked the hotel and was all in the parking garage it made us afraid to leave I missed my reservations and all . I was expecting a better experience.

Possibly the worst condition of any hotel o have stayed world wide. This is the second bad hotel of this trip and both booked in hotels.com. It has become clear over years of use of hotels.com rooms allocated are often the poorer quality leaving nicer rooms to direct bookers. The staff was very friendly at the front desk and everyone we ran into in the elevators were very friendly. The pool gate was unlocked and non-guests were walking in/out of the pool. It was obvious that there were people at the pool that were just using the pool and not actually staying at the hotel. The pool deck was dirty and there was trash left everywhere at night. We were charged for parking - thinking this was a secure, Hilton/Doubletree lot. It was not. It was accessible to the public and was not secure, there were homeless people everywhere. The marijuana smell was overwhelming! It was everywhere! In the hallways, elevator, etc. It was bad and I would not bring my kids here for that reason.

This experience was less than decent but will remain memorable. Hotel is great location however quality of room was very poor. Bed was saggy, shower took 10 minutes to get luke warm, check in delayed, management didn't follow up on complaints properly, weed smoke in evening and morning in the hallway, tv remotes did not function properly and foyer light needed replacement. Lastly on the weekend the hotel had nonstop noise and racket from police officers coraling teenagers off the streets until 130am (4 hours)

I expected more from Double Tree by Hilton. I would say the staff were very pleasant. The property itself needs to be updated. The elevators closing were hard and loud. The room's carpet needs to be upgraded as well as the cabinets. The room's door closed hard and loud and the balcony had water dripping from the room above the entire time of my stay. Please place a microwave and refrigerator in each room. It should not be room selected. Lastly, the parking garage doors need to be repaired as they do not close properly and there were water dripping from the ceiling in the garage. Just some things I noticed during my stay there.

I am very disappointed in this so called Doubletree hotel. When entering the establishment, you can never tell the rooms are in such bad conditions. I stayed one night, only because i was too tired to move. But moved first thing that next morning. When i went down to tell the front desk i was leaving, the first thing out her mouth was, "You will not get a refund"....no worries, corporate will be notified.

The hotel needs a renovation, but until that happens at least some maintenance and the most important: update the pictures in the offering, because they are showing the ones from when it was new. So you arrive expecting something and while you see and get everything on the picture…. everything is too old and deteriorated.

The fist day there the air conditioner was not cooling the room so, i talked to the lady at the front desk. She told me she would put in an work order. I told her ok. The next day the a/c was not working again. The room was hot and i could breathe. So, i had to find me somewhere else to stay. I wasted my money on the hotel when i didnt stay in the room. The parking was limited for handicap on the first floor. They had more valet parking on the first floor. I was afraid to ride the elevator. Which i expreesed to them. There was no accommodation. The staff was very friendly when i arrived. This was a waste of my money. I was very frustrated.

This hotel is in bad shape! Very old. Beds too soft. Shower was a “cold plunge”experience! Also, showers didn’t drain so dirty water stood for a long time. Hallway walls gross and floors worse. Furnishings so dirty couldn’t sit on them. We had multiple rooms for a family weekend and all rooms were sub par. Weed smell everywhere. Staff at check in and out were very nice. Housekeeper was very attentive to our needs. Quickly brought extra towels and hangers upon request and a refrigerator was placed in our room upon request and arrived before we got to our room. Disappointed that Hilton would accept such sub par accommodations in their family of hotels. The staff were the best part of our stay. Very kind and helpful.

The hotel was amazing inside, but not out. I arrived 40 mins after check in I was told I needed to wait 30 more mins. Went to use pool after rain, and pool area was messy, no one went out to clean it tidy up. I asked if they provided towels for the pool at the desk and was told they did. When we went to the pool they didn't have none, and went several times a long with other people and 2 and half hours they never brought any and I had to walk to my room through the hotel dripping wet to my room.
