The room was large. It has a living room and bedroom. Every room has a beach view. The amenities were great. We took the bikes on a very long ride to Coronado. They have wagons with beach chairs, cooler and volleyball you can checkout. Right next door is a great outdoor workout facility, basketball court and volleyball. There was hardly anybody at the beach. I felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. There was no swimming at the beach because of a sewage leak.

We decided to stay here as an early celebration of my birthday, I wish we chose a different place! First issue, was the guest elevator was out of service, and the guests had to use the service elevator. That elevator is on one end, and our room was on the far end, which caused a lot of walking. I asked a service employee how long the elevator was down, she said "more than a week". When we made it to our room (ocean view suite) we walked in to notice it had not been cleaned after the last guests. Trash full, bed not made, towels laying around in the bathroom, etc. We called the front desk, and they moved us to another ocean view room, with 2 double beds, instead of a King. The room was ok, but not what we paid for ($482)! The front desk lady last night was very friendly, and told us that the manager would take care of us in the morning. The new room had some issues too, the power outlet at the desk didn't work, same with the TV in the bedroom. Very unacceptable! When we checked out, all the manager was willing to do is take off $20! Really, $20, and give us some Bonvoy points! He certainly didn't show ANY empathy! When it became clear he wouldn't do anything else for us, I told him that we would file a formal complaint with Expedia and Mariott! Very sad it ended this way!

Overall not satisfactory and not good value for money and would STRONGLY not recommend this property.

For what I paid for, the room was not up to pair. The rugs in the room were very stained, alot of rust on the patio. The door outside the patio was messy. The hot tub was not working. There was a semi flood and the elevators stopped working

Only word of caution.. don't plan to use the gym, it's very tiny, but they do have decent loaner bikes. Will definitely stay again.

Expedia advertises the rooms as soundproof. They were not. I heard all of my neighbors and people outside. The beds are also advertised as a king size, which is possible. But it seemed a lot smaller and more like a queen. Overall a decent experience. ** FYI most of the time you can't swim in the ocean at Imperial beach due to pollution. I didn't know until it was too late to cancel. Do your research before booking if that is the experience you're looking for.

I feel like the hospitality could have been better and assistance with our luggage.

The location of the hotel was excellent. The hotel is located perfectly on the beach. There were a lot of restaurants within walking distance. And there is a restaurant on site that was delicious with courteous staff. The brunch was good as well. I enjoyed the complimentary wine and beer on the rooftop right before sunset. My room had a pier view & we were still able to see the beach. Absolutely loved our stay!!!! I did not like the lack of a parking lot. There was only valet parking for $30 overnight. Fortunately, we were able to find street parking.

The new girl at the front desk was very nice but not her manager, not accommodating at all. I drove over 2 hours and could not check in until after 5pm and there is a guaranteed check in at 4pm. I paid extra to have a room with a view so I could hear the breeze however, my room faced the basketball courts so we could not leave the door open to catch the breeze which is why we drove out there. They would only grant a one hour late checkout even though they made us check in late. Not a happy camper.

Overpriced. Really only paying for the view of the ocean. Offered complementary “drinks and appetizers” but really were just cheap wine and snacks like pretzels and olives. Floor by the pool was dirty.

This hotel is a step away from the beach!! Enjoy the view of IB from your balcony,the restaurant or the pool!! This hotel is in the best location!! Close to everything and the staff is wonderful!!

The hotel was beautiful and the ocean view rooms are amazing. The hotel is under construction but still great services. There’s so much to do in and around the hotel. High recommend!

This hotel knew the room they rented me had no AC. They did not inform me when I booked nor when I checked in. This is a deceptive practice and is completely unacceptable. I had to find new accommodations at the last minute.

The manager hamayoom was excellent was always somewhere to be found and was very attentive in welcoming and saying farewell to guest. Definitely will be back!

The food at Sammy s was awful we paid $54.00 for a simple breakfast and only had 2 bites it all went in the trash. We were very disappointed in the food and couldn't believe it because the restaurant is beautiful and great location.

You will want an extra blanket to hang over door to keep the hallway light out. We would defiantly stay again.

We had a room with a balcony. It had a perfect view of the ocean and we slept with the door open all night so we could listen to the ocean. Also the restaurant in the hotel has an excellent menu. Loved every meal we had.

I was disappointed with the free "appetizers" at the sunset social. Honestly, for a top Marriott hotel, I was a bit embarrassed for the hotel. It just felt like the appetizer part was oversold. A cup of popcorn, a few olives, a cup of nuts...it just doesn't feel as high class as I would expect for Marriott BonVoy level offering. I would have just advertised free drinks at the sunset social. Everything else was perfect.

Terrible location with an abundance of criminal activity, poor and trashy upkeep of property grounds and internal spaces. Room booked was not as advertised and promised. Room was below 60° F and heater was not working at all. This does not satisfy California state and Federal Housing and dwelling laws and is unacceptable with my disability and living standards

The hotel was beautiful right on the beach , but the elevator being down and having to find street parking put a damper on our stay a bit ! There was homeless and suspicious people wandering around the park next to us so we hardly utilized it .

Main elevator was not working the entire time so had to use service elevator. Kind of hard to get to. Had an upstairs neighbor that was very noisy need more soundproofing on upper floors

The staff at this hotel clearly care about giving their guests the best possible experience. They were friendly, helpful, and made sure the stay was a relaxing and pleasant. The hotel's 5th floor rooftop terrace is a great place to relax and watch sunset over the ocean, or the pelicans overhead. The walk to the Imperial Beach Pier is less than 5 minutes through a safe beachside neighborhood that feels laid back, and is full of interesting restaurants. Imperial Beach sits right beside the US Navy base, and has a very safe, family feel -- if you want a relaxed beachfront resort to enjoy the San Diego area that isn't sandwiched between yacht clubs and multi-million dollar homes, this is a great choice. We'd go back in a heartbeat. It's no fault of the hotel, but while we were there the prevailing currents carried sewage up the coast from Mexico, so there were bacteria warnings that kept us (though not the local surfers!) out of the water. The beach walking was still wonderful, but we weren't brave enough to splash around.

This location is awesome. Beach front rooms the food is fantastic. Been to this hotel 3 times for a get away. You can walk right on to the beach many food locations also close by. The imperial beach pier is also just a short distance walking. The parking is limited but valet parking makes it very convenient.

They spent one night fixing a door at the restaurant during a busy dinner service. It may have been better to just block off that door until the restaurant closed. On the same night you could see hotel employees smoking weed on a break from the restaurant seating area on the outside patio. I get that it’s California and a beach town but not the best customer service. There was also one employee clearly intoxicated around lunch time getting on and off the elevator. The beach also closed the day after we got there because of toxins from Mexico. That’s more from poor leadership and Gov. Newsom and not the hotels fault but maybe something that should be listed as a potential issue before someone books a room for 6 days. The two homeless people sleeping right next to the restaurant also not the hotels fault. Our room wasn’t serviced the last two days so trash stacked up in the room but we didn’t base the rating on that. Overall, we still gave it a 4 but this hotel could easily be rated higher with some better staff training and guidelines.

Nice rooms, very noisy and specially in the morning when cleaning staff was cleaning. You could hear the cleaning carts going up and town the halls and hear the ones on the floor above. One day our room was not cleaned even though we requested it 2 times.

Negatives If this property is still owned by Marriott or franchisee there are some basic building maintenance that should be addressed I get because it’s a beach town the salt water eats up everything but the dust between the elevator glass is horrible also the balcony glass needs to be cleaned daily I saw a maintenance person clean the lower level glass but not the upper levels and Marriott has enough money to get it done . This is an autograph logo property and should be the pride of the area.

The property was clean and the staff were very friendly. Great location. The service in the restaurants was chaotic and a little slow. I don’t think it was the staff’s problem but, the way it was managed. It seemed like no organization to the tables so wait staff didn’t know who to serve. Plates came out late and getting drink refilled was slow.

Room was as decribed on site, my room was not clean exactly, not sure that sweep, under the couch was disgusting, pretty sure they have not pulled it out for along time, patio door extremely hard to open and lock! Water for shower barely warm no matter time of day! Coffee pot didn’t work, tv didn’t work! Area around us was a little sketch, lots of young kids causing trouble and just hanging around the entire hotel! Couple times trying to start crap just for walking out to the beach! They were taking the building told the staff and they ignored it! Would not stay here again!

This was by far the worst stay I've had. I took my 2 young childeren out for Mothers day. I wanted to stay on the beach to look out at the ocean and walk down to the beach with my kids. We drove 4 hours to get there. When we arrived we were told not to go in the Ocean but they refused to tell me why. We went to our room to get settled in and instantly learned that the toilet in the room doesn't flush. I asked the supervisor about it. He laughed at me and responded with "we're all just trying to get by, if you know what i mean" and walked away. I called down to the desk several times to get assistance for the toilet with no answers or help. I'm a plumber and could've fixed the problem myself if i had some bathroom supplies. Not having a proper working bathroom is a major health violation. I took my kids to the pier to find signs saying the water is contaminated with Sewage and may cause illness. I wasn't about to drive 4 hours back home, at 7pm so we stayed in the room, as i planned on checking out first thing in the morning to get away from there. The next morning i called the front desk several times over 2 hours with not 1 answer. I went out on the balcony and i couldn't even see the ocean through the glass wall due to how stained the glass was. So we packed up and checked out and they offered a $50 rebate on an almost $400 one night stay. Which should've been a full refund. Its a complete crap show, literally. Idk how or why people are giving this place a 5 star review.

Beautiful location, beautiful room, wonderful place to stay. The pictures don't do it justice. The view from the room was breathtaking, and falling asleep listening to the waves crashing was the most relaxing feeling I've experienced in quite a while.

The first day our room wasn’t cleaned until 5:00. The second day it was never cleaned. The hotel was not full and it seemed understaffed. The room was comfortable.

- The location of the property was nice. The hotel is located right on the beach. - The staff was very friendly. Cons: - The entry doors to the rooms and the doors separating the bathroom from the bedrooms are mostly made of glass. As the hallway outside of the rooms is brightly lit at night the rooms are also well lit at night which makes it really hard to sleep. - The neighborhood around the hotel seems a bit sketchy. There was a homeless person living right at the access from the hotel to the beach - The hotel restaurant is not very good and was out of many things (e.g. ice maker for making cocktails)

I would of gave this a 5 star, because we really did enjoy our stay a lot! The manager when we checked in was amazing and took care of us so well. The only reason I docked some points is that they didn't even have our room clean when we arrived and the bathroom wasn't very clean, I had to clean it myself and provide my own trash bags. The breakfast the first 3 days was awesome they allowed us to do room service due to my daughter not being able to walk very well, the guys in the kitchen and room service were very accommodating due to our situation. The last morning we were there and called for room service the girl told us we couldn't use our stay for breakfast coupons. I understand that she wanted the tip due to room service, but we would of paid that. I tipped every person that brought us room service. I feel like there was things that were not kept the best around the property and in our room, just general up keep of a property. We loved the location and most all the staff were AMAZING! very kind and helpful. We would come back for sure. Location to the beach couldn't of been better and the ocean view we had was so peaceful. The people above us were very loud, but that's not the hotels fault. We would want a top floor room next time for sure.

Great view, great staff, very comfortable room. My only critique is that the shower faucet dripping continuously. We had to have maintenance come on our first night to turn the shower in for us as the shower knob was turned to tight for us to open in our own. We tried to turn the shower knob off as tightly as we could but it still dripped. Huge waste of water!

I should’ve listened to some of the other reviews but for some reason thought it’d be different. The room itself was decent, the oceanfront view of the beach was nice, the attendants were very welcoming and kind. But the location, the cleanliness of the hotel, and the overall condition of the building wasn’t very good and certainly not what I had in mind. The hotel itself looks very old and outdated. It most certainly did not feel like a resort of any sort. The bathroom had molding stains all along the ceiling. It’s not a place I would go back to and would not recommend it at all. I wouldn’t consider myself picky at all, but this wasn’t it unfortunately.

Also, for a Bonvoy Luxury Hotel its lacking. It's a decent hotel, but not Luxury or like the other Bonvoys I've stayed at. Staff was very nice, but not very professional. They also over charged me, different than whats on the receipt, but I’ve emailed them about that and waiting for a reply.

Our new favorite hotel ! The beach is off limits for swimming but a beautiful view . Hotel is clean quiet. Mattresses could be better and restroom needed some touch ups . Customer service was on point. Ronell James drone desk supervisor needs to be recognized , great guy . Happy Birthday to his Dad ! He raised a great young man .

Very nice business stay. This is an older property that is well kept. Comfy bed, spacious room, friendly service throughout. Clean room! My only problem was the wobbly elevator. I thought I was in the middle if an earthquake the first time I used it

Paid for a ocean view but was given a street side room.

Loved the suite and the ocean views from the balcony. It was very clean. I parked on the street by hotel to avoid $30 a day valet parking.

Nice area, right next to the beach, we left our doors open and you can hear the waves and smell the ocean. The staff was nice and accommodating. There is a brewery right next door and they have good beer and food. The problem we had was the television didn't work. They sent a repair man right away but he couldn't fix it. The front desk said they were going to give us free parking to make up for it. But they still charged me for parking and have not responded why. I asked for a receipt but haven't received one yet. They charged my credit card an extra $32.80 for something but won't respond when I emailed them. Make sure you get a receipt when you check out or they will rip you off. Other than that we enjoyed our stay a lot.

I like the free happy hour but I'm sad that it was only 1 hour, and I missed it. but I like the safe location because there is always security at the entrance keeping an eye out of who comes into the hotel. I price is a bit high, but I do like that the bedroom is separate from the Livingroom and that they all have a balcony.

The biggest issue was that we booked an oceanfront room, but upon arrival, we were warned not to swim in the ocean due to RAW SEWAGE in the water. This should be disclosed before check-in, especially at an oceanfront hotel. It was gross and disappointing to learn. The second worst was the idiotic design of our room. It had a large glass panel on the door, letting bright light flood in all night, which made it hard to sleep. There were no amenities in the bathroom—not even soap or shower caps. We've stayed at hotels all along the West Coast, and this one provided the least. The shower was poorly designed and one day we had no hot water. The hotel itself felt old and worn, though clean. The Wi-Fi was unusable, it just would not work or worked so sporadically, it was useless. To make matters worse, the elevators were out of service, so we had to use a smelly, run-down service elevator that was inconveniently located the whole time we were there. The only reason I’m giving this hotel two stars is because the staff was friendly and helpful. I hope they find jobs at a much better establishment. The pool and hot tub were also nice.

The staff (front desk and maid service) was wonderful, friendly, and helpful. The facility and room was less than expected—broken elevator during whole stay, and room was not kept up with maintenance (no weather stripping from room to balcony). The restaurant and spa were great—very nice service and food.

My recent stay at Pier South Resort, Autograph Collection by Marriott was incredibly disappointing. One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was for the direct beach access, but unfortunately, we were unable to go on the beach due to some restrictions that weren’t disclosed during booking. This completely invalidated the "beachfront" experience we were looking forward to. To make matters worse, the valet service wrecked my boyfriend’s car, severely damaging one of the doors. This not only ruined our vacation but also caused significant stress and inconvenience. Despite this major incident, the hotel staff did not handle the situation with the level of professionalism and urgency that it warranted. Overall, the experience was terrible. Between the lack of access to the beach and the valet disaster, our vacation was completely ruined. I would not recommend this property to anyone.

The staff was excellent and made my stay very comfortable and pleasant. Specially Gabby, Bryce and Carlos, were super friendly and helpful.

I will never use EXPEDIA again; EXPEDIA misrepresented this hotel. Misrepresented the room and hid reviews that warned people against booking at this hotel. The beach is unusable as the water, sand and entire area is contaminated by the Tijuana Slough.
