Courtyard by Marriott Charlotte Lake Norman

My third floor room had a sliding glass door out into a porch. It only had the standard lock which can easily be forced open. It did not feel safe for a woman traveling alone. The room had a wall tv mount partially installed and the shower fixture was poorly installed and loose, both trivial but not worthy of the Marriott brand. I love Marriott for the comfortable beds and this one was.

Toilet was broken in our room. They said they fixed it, they did not. Moved us rooms for our final night. TV barely worked. Tons of construction going on. Would not recommend.

They do have fresh Starbucks coffee in the lobby every day! The lobby is quaint and great for a social drink and appetizers, but its not a full service restaurant. Had the king room with loveseat. It was just perfect for a weeks stay. Bed was sooo soft and comfortable. Very clean, and the house cleaners did a nice job every day. Ice machine on the 3rd floor, fridge worked, and the AC worked fine with no rattling or excessive noise. Was 25 minutes to Charlotte Speedway. Was about 40 minutes to downtown "Uptown" Charlotte - IYKYK LOL The hotel is currently under renovations so there was some noise on the 3rd floor, but the first floor was all torn up. The laundry facility was not available and more than half the days of 7, the snack purchase area was closed. There is not hot tub, but the pool area was open and appeared clean although did not use this amenity. Will definitely stay here again!

The hotel is under renovation. The room is outdated, and the bathroom, carpet, and other areas are stained and old. The cafeteria was closed, and there was a smell of weed in the hallway.

I enjoyed my stay. Staff was helpful and my room was clean.

The staff are very professional and accommodating. An egg and cheese breakfast sandwich with OJ and coffee was $20.00 plus tip! At The Hampton Innon my next night, breakfast was free and room was MUCH nicer and cleaner!!

Great location- near interstate exit. Close to birkdale village and other restaurants. It definitely needs updated and lacks charm and ambience. The bathroom wallpaper had a big patch (about a foot) that was peeled up near the floor. There was no breakfast the first morning. We didn’t necessarily want a meal, but some fruit and maybe a pastry would have been nice. The second morning they had out some brown- spotted bananas and a few small oranges sitting out on a counter. Not in a bowl or basket. I didn’t see if there was anything else. It’s in such a convenient location that it’s a shame it either hasn’t been profitable enough to update.

They did not serve the breakfast that is advertised. Carpet in hall on floor 3 had not be vacuumed in weeks! Stains and splattered walls..Room & elevator was very run down.

The hotel needs some love. The wallpaper is falling off the walls. The staff is amazing and very accommodating.

Room was clean but under construction. Has visible wall repair throughout and wet drywall mud. Beds weren’t the most comfortable and the window coverings kept the ac from blowing correctly. Kids enjoyed the small indoor pool area.

The room was old, there was missing paint. The deli in the lobby was off putting, I never tried it, I’m not sure that I saw it open at any time I was there.

Nothing They were doing construction on site, started at 9am. Never was told before booking. Cancelled my reservation, not to mention I called and spoke to someone and when I arrived at the hotel they told me the person I spoke to isn’t affiliated with the hotel. Day 2 I had no water for 30 minutes day 3 my toilet bowl was clogged went downstairs to use the main bathroom downstairs that was out of service because of construction… so I told front desk so he decides to come upstairs and unclogged the toilet. One more thing, my refrigerator in my room wasn’t working the entire stay! They replaced it day 2, day 3 as I’m packing I found a note, stating refrigerator is fixed.

The hotel does not live up to what one expects from a Courtyard. There was no tooth brush available at the hotel (no free one nor to purchase). The door to the room was damaged, the safety latch was loose, the TV remote not working, the room very Motel like.

It was OK. In all honesty, I thought I had booked a different hotel and actually went there first, only to discover I had booked this place instead. The bed was comfortable, and it seemed pretty clean. Check-in was easy, and the clerk was perfectly polite. There was no breakfast included; if you wanted it, you had to go down to the "bistro" and order it. The hotel smelled kind of like laundry and cleaner, which I know could be worse. The coffee left a lot to be desired, it was very weak and watery. By 9 am on a Saturday, the housekeepers were making a ton of noise just by opening and closing doors; that's not on them, though; there are just insanely thin walls. We weren't fans of the places to eat close by, but that is just our personal preference, so others might be OK with it.

There was no breakfast! The beds are horrible. The pillows even worse. The hotel was dirty and the outside needed cleaning up. We paid over $500 for two nights. Wasted money

Location is very good. The breakfast options in the hotel are limited. Room had a very strong perfume smell when you first walked in and all of the drawers and closets were left open when we first entered the room-odd. Beds were clean.

Unfortunately this hotel was run down, cockroach in the bathroom and bug bites in the room. Very disappointing given it’s a Marriott hotel. Some staff were nice others were rude.

Staff was friendly. The property next door is vacant and there are a lot of empty parking lots which didn’t feel super safe. The rooms are dated but large. The AC was not great. Decent for the price in the area.

It is very loud when the air conditioning/heater turns on and off, as needed, which for a light sleeper is very difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Nothing you can really do about this but I prefer to stay in a motel/hotel that doesn’t have this type of system.

They never serviced our rooms on a 4 night stay. Front desk staff was good all others not so much. When talking to maid we were told could not speak English. Dumping dirty mop water near gathering area for guests.

Not a lot Despite paying for it, did not get breakfast. Offered a discount, but can only get that from Booking.com so I doubt I'll get it. Poor WiFi - why does one have to joine a hotel's chain's loyalty scheme to get wifi? Other chain hotels do not require this. Not good enough.

Pool closed, chemical smell and giant fans in front of each room over half of hotel permeated building.

5 stars to the girl that was working the front desk last night! It was close to midnight when I checked in and was welcomed with a warm smile and greeting (I’m bummed I don’t remember her name!) I do a lot of traveling and can’t remember the last time I experienced that level of hospitality. Thank you, for an enjoyable stay

I expect more from Marriot. The tv won’t change channels and the curtains will not close. The second affects me more as I’d like to be able to close the curtains.

We finally were able to get a night away without children. Brittany at the front desk was so sweet! The room was wonderful. The location was perfect to walk to restaurants. Easy access to 77. The overall stay was just wonderful. We highly recommend and will return.

I had a wonderful stay. The bed was extremely comfortable and was impressed that the shower was hot each time. The front desk staff especially during the check out was very pleasant and Orlando made sure I did not have any concerns or issues with our stay. I will definitely be back!

This hotel has a fire pit outside, beside the hotel. A large group was allowed to sit out there and party from midnight to 3 am. I called the front desk twice; the second time I had to ask them specifically to ask the party to disburse or move elsewhere. They were keeping an entire side of the hotel guests awake. Never going back to that hotel.

The person who checked us in was nice. The room was acceptable. Then the smoke detector low battery went off at 3 am multiple times. I found the phone to call the front desk, it was disconnected. I used my cell phone to call the front desk. The woman said her monitor showed no fire. She told me to disconnect the battery from the smoke detector and someone would come in the morning to fix it. She said the phones were being updated and some of them were not working. I expressed more concern for safety, and she did not seem to be able to help at all. Needless to say I was unable to sleep the rest of the night because I was so mad and concerned. Upon checkout, there was no one at the front desk. Just a bowl to put your key in.

They stay was ok we booked this hotel because of the pool after we check in we’re told the pool was out of order and wouldn’t be in working order until September. Worker said the owner didn’t want to buy the part for the pool just yet. The chair in the room had crumbled up granola bars all in it. We needed plug ins for two bi-pap machines and the plug ins was so worn out they would barely hold the plugs for the machines. Staff was very nice just the place wasn’t up to marriotts standards.

Rooms have old fashion coffee makers no microwaves and they charge you money per day for the bistro in the hotel. After complaining they informed that it will be reimbursed if not used. We checked on on a Friday night. Pool and phones were down for maintenance. Pillows were horrible. Couldn’t figure out how turn down air conditioning so we froze. No coffee, no breakfast. Tub fixtures were all loose. One tiny bar of soap for two people. Just chintzy.

The staff are absolutely wonderful!! The beds are comfortable and it’s an ok place to stay for a few days. There is a distinct smell though of past cigarette smokers which lingers. And the cafe was only open for a few hours in the morning.

The hotel was in very poor condition for a Marriott. I will not stay there again nor recommend. Also, the staff was subpar in their help.

Location was great for our visiting friends. Hotel was beautiful. The bistro was closed most of the time so not able to enjoy its benefits and food. Had to eat at near by restaurants of which are many good ones. Staff were wonderful and so helpful. To have fresh bottled water in our room each day would have been nice. Recommend this place for your stay in Huntersville.

Location was great for our visiting friends. Hotel was beautiful. The bistro was closed most of the time so not able to enjoy its benefits and food. Had to eat at near by restaurants of which are many good ones. Staff were wonderful and so helpful. To have fresh bottled water in our room each day would have been nice. Recommend this place for your stay in Huntersville.

Bathroom was oddly small, with low ceiling and no fan in the bathroom. Minimalist room and not very large for a 2 queen bedroom. A/c was ineffective; did not cool room. Outdoor seating area was unlit and not kept tidy. Not inviting to sit outside. Fire pit not lit. Overall not worth the price.

I loved the area where the hotel was located. Easy to get to restaurants and stores.

Staff were very nice and facility was pretty clean. But, even though we were there two nights, when we came home last the second night pretty late, no one had cleaned our room at all. We had no dry towels and were out of toilet paper and tissues almost gone so my husband had to go find someone to get those items at midnight when we were very tired. The room was also very damp feeling which made it slightly uncomfortable even though AC was on. Pool was out of service and so was the ice machine on our floor. Wasn't a horrible stay by any means but I've stayed at other Marriott properties that were a little nicer.

Pool closed. No bar/ lounge as advertised. Truck broken into and robbed right outside front door by drive through lane. Definitely not worth Marriott Courtyard rates.

Anni and Jerod went out of their way to make everyone feel special! It was a great atmosphere and a great hotel.

Easy to get to , location

Terrible and not up to Marriott standards.

Our room was lovely although we did initially have a hiccup when we checked in as our shower door would not slide open. They promptly moved us to another room. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. The best part of our stay was the food we ordered from the Bistro. It was amazing (and I’m super picky with food). So my compliments to the chef!

This property was run down,not up to Marriott standards. Was too bad,wont stay at marriotts anymore they are sub standard

Clean

Bar & grill was grill only (no liquor license). Pull rod and slider on one curtain broken. Shower curtain missing hooks. Toilet paper holder broken. No grab bar in shower. Rip in carpet not repaired.

Loud group in the open seating area in the front area of hotel until well after 11PM.

Hotel had a few issues which made things less than ideal. First the overhang at the entrance was damaged so you couldn't enter the hotel easily. The Pool was closed for repairs. My bathroom shower had 2 issues there were several tile in shower that were broken. The other one that was the shower head was spraying all over the ceiling.

This hotel has charged my bank account 3 times since I left there last week! I have been trying to reach a manager but apparently he doesn’t work normal business hours! He was supposed to credit me and charged me instead! Called corporate and they have a case out but can’t do anything right away! I need my money now not 3-5 business days from now !!! Very unprofessional!!

Pool was closed for maintenance- not noted anywhere on website. Ice machine broke. When booking said breakfast included. It was not. They have one guy working the breakfast cafe- therefore took a long time just to order. Didn’t wait around to eat. Not many options for kids. When on a vacation, need quick and easy options to eat. Ice for coolers. Pool to entertain kids. Staff very friendly when checked in at 1130pm. Room was clean. Parking easy and safe area.

The property was what I expected. The room was pretty clean. The staff was very nice. But, the pool was down, which my kids were bummed about. This was just a pit stop on our way through. I’d probably try a different hotel in the area next time (if we stop there).

The overhang had a yellow caution tape around it due to a truck hitting the top ... no contractor arrived to fix or secure while we were there. The swimming pool was closed, waiting for inspection. The windows in our room overlooked dead bushes, weeds, garbage on the ground. This couldn't be a Marriott Courtyard.

Mold in shower, right next to maintenance room couldn't sleep due to doors slamming all night. Room was also over all dirty need to clean better.

Nice property - would have been nice to have coffee in the lobby - but I think that’s a courtyard thing.

Great hotel and staff!

Very clean, friendly staff and lots of close food choices. Easy on/off for the interstate.
