Reviews
The hotel reviews indicate a mix of positive and negative experiences. Guests generally appreciate the cleanliness of the rooms, comfortable beds, and good location, but there are consistent complaints about the lack of breakfast, rude front desk staff, and issues with room amenities.
- Clean rooms
- Comfortable beds
- Lack of breakfast
- Rude front desk staff
- 2.5/5
The first room the TV didn't work they moved us rooms to a smaller bed and it was not clean and I only had a half a roll of toilet paper
- 2/5
There is no pool as it is stated in the amenities. The shower floors are stained black.
- 4/5
The only issue I had with this place was not the place itself but the loud neighbor outside our door watching tv on his phone. We will definitely stay again and hope that the other visitors are respectful.
- 3.5/5
Gave me a room I did not book, and told me it was the only one they had.
- 4/5
Our TV would not connect to Direct TV, but we were not looking for a movie. Room had lots of power outlets. Room was clean, but sparse.
- 3/5
The hotel room was fairly clean. There were several spots on the floor that looked like tar. Maybe cleaning staff didn't have a tool to scrape the floor? Bathroom door had stains that I could wipe off. Neither tub or sink had drain cover. It was very nice to take a bath though as the water was softened. Breakfast just had cereal, at least something and muffins. Coffee cups didn't have proper fitting lids. The hotel is probably a third full of residents, that I enjoyed talking too. Staff friendly and did want to help. I would stay again, but it wouldn't be my first preference in the area.I am staying at several hotels in the area to see what is available for a large reunion group coming in June.

Prostitute hotel and there were cockroaches toilet didn't flush good overflowed!! GO Elsewhere don't waste your money
- 1/5
Booker here because of the location. Stayed two days. What little breakfast there was, was terrible. There were no napkins either day. The liquid that came out of the orange juice unit was not drinkable. The only thing to eat was cereal, a snack bar and a muffin on the first day. There were no snack bars the second day. Also, the muffins were not fresh and not good. Had to go to the desk and request milk for the cereal on the first day. Worst breakfast I have ever had at a motel.
- 5/5
The noise outside by the stairs
- 1.5/5
The fact that when I first arrived I noticed they advertised the pool and that's exactly why I went there for and there wasn't it was covered in cement as well as walking up the stairs to my room and being approached by one of the guests that stayed there I guess for a while offered me a drug dealer if I wanted one and the room I had to clean up because it wasn't quite clean and they left a nasty plunger inside of the restroom as well as loud females cussing laughing loud being obnoxious and continued for a while but no one from the office intervening to settle the situation as well as feeling like something kept biting me while being on the bed
- 1/5
Stayed at this hotel before and it was pleasant. This time not so much.
- 5/5
My room was really nice and especially for the price. Hotels.com have really great deals.
- 2/5
Parking lot was appropriate, but staff were unkind and room was unclean.
- 5/5
The room cools nicely with the ac everytime and is rather quiet at night time not crazy busy breakfast is subtle The TV sometimes is blue and not all the rooms have working full sets of blue lights and/or mirror ledstrip lights
- 5/5
Peaceful N/A
- 3/5
No breakfast to include coffee every morning for a week.
- 3/5
Everything broken and took to long to check in
- 1/5
the room in all was fine but the server was the biggest issue they do not serve breakfast and if they tell you they do the will literally only put out a few bars and a muffin. There is no swimming pool. IT IS FALSE ADVERTISING DO NOT BOOK IF YOU ARE TRYING TO USE ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE ROOM they also lied the rooms are smoke can be smoked in but that was expected.
- 2/5
The room had a strong ugly smell. Microwave was filthy, the freezer had long hair & dirty. Cabinet door missing & the thing that took the cake, lizard & roach poop!
- 0.5/5
Location is the only thing which I like since I need to attend an event, I booked this place, other than that CVS Walmart are kind of close you'll find most of the things nearby. 1. The room smelled bad - mostly weed 2. Less than usual amenities 3. No breakfast available even after the listing said there will be breakfast included 4. Loud noises from some pumping water maintenance
- 0.5/5
Nothing, we did not stay. Infested with roaches I ordered 2 rooms with booking.com when we got to the hotel my husband paid and we went to go look for the rooms. As soon as i turned the lights on i saw a little roach by the light switch. As i moved the sheets to lay my sleeping toddler i saw several tiny roaches on the sheets on the walls, little bugs that looked like little spiders. As soon as i saw that i told my kids we were not going to stay there and we left. We have stayed in several hotels and this one has been the worst of all!!! We have been trying to get a refund and its been almost a month and we are yet to receive the refund. Horrible customer service we call and they keep redirecting us to call booking.com when we paid them not booking.com

Everything looked good on arrival. Left to grab something to eat and came back and found baby cockroaches on dresser and bathroom floor. Cockroaches
- 1.5/5
The bed was ok There isn*r water in the room. The fridge doesn't work. The phone of the room doesn't work. You can hear your neighbor in the night . The breakfast : the coffee machine doesn't work, there is no hot milk , no eggs .. it was a bad experience

- 2.5/5
The rooms are nothing like shown in the picture
- 5/5
Very nice and courteous staff
- 3.5/5
The lights in the washing area were not working. The room lights are also positioned as such on top of the bed, causing them to hit your head when you lie down Room lights Wifi was not strong Washing are lights are not working Staff was co operative Decent for a single person stay
- 5/5
Friendly staff and nice, clean room. Excellent stay at a great price!
- 4/5

They had roaches
- 5/5
Room was clean and the bed was comfy. Area was easy to navigate. Customer service was rude
- 5/5
Room was really clean and smelled like lemons upon entry very welcoming and quiet
- 1/5
Upon arrival knowing that we were coming they didn’t hold a double queen bed room for our party of 4 and I couldn’t get reimbursement because the day before arrival our cancellation expired. The room they said they did have available that had a double bed was just treated an hour ago & here I was thinking treated meaning ozone generator no it was bug bombed I went to check on room opened the door and nothing but bug spray fog coming out of door, burned my lungs for a few hrs. They didn’t offer anything like 2 single rooms for the price I was paying for a double bed. I paid the single bed for what I paid for the double bed and they said they had an extra single bed room for $55 I said no and that I needed at least one bed for the night since I can’t back out of paying for the night I was paying for the double bed. Checked my son in on his single bed and the room had the slight smell of them from when they last bug bombed . The stairwell has dried up fruitloop cereal on the steps. Place is so ran down from the last time we stayed there 2 yrs ago. Sad to say we will not be returning here ever. Would not recommended staying here
- 3/5
The location was good, close where I needed to be. I checked in at night, it was very cold out. The hotel clerk working the front desk would not allow me to enter the hotel lobby to check in. I had to complete this through a window. Also, the breakfast was weak. It consisted of two choices of cereal, a granola bar, or a tiny muffin. I expected a bit more of a selection.
- 3.5/5
The bed was very comfortable
- 4/5
No elevator
- 4/5
Friendly staff. Good location. Easy to get in and out of. It didn’t really feel super secure and the supplies in the room were limited.
- 3/5
There was a lot of bugs in the bed
- 5/5
Everything good
- 3/5
This hotel took frugal a step too far. The two of us were issued one key for a 2-night stay. We like to read but one of the bedside lamps was missing a lightbulb. I told the clerk who looked very confused. Is a missing lightbulb a difficult concept to understand? We stayed 3 nights, never did get a light bulb. The little things matter. This hotel was reasonably comfortable (comfy bed, good AC, fast hot water) but the fact that they couldn't be bothered with getting me a lightbulb (which I would have happily installed myself) is a deal-breaker.
- 1/5
The front desk guy was locked out of the lobby so he just put us in a room without checking in. The room was filthy- dirt and sticky residue in the floor, crumbs on the couch, stickers and grime on the back of the door, little black hairs on the pillows, sheets were stained with some sort of oil, the bath faucet wasn’t connected. We immediately left and showed the attendant pictures and videos of the room. The attendant apologized and said we were not going to be charged. He was very nice and apologetic. We cancelled and left.
- 1/5
I was only in the room for 10 minutes, the room smelled of cigarette smoke. There were roaches crawling all over the room, in room number 211 address is 10710 Huffmeister Road Houston, Texas. It was nasty, the smoke smell was strong. I videoed the roaches crawling all over.

Booked because I’ve never had an issue with super 8 and they had a room with 2 queens (traveling with my teenage son). Arrived and the room had water coming up through the floor. They offered us two separate rooms with kings, not adjoining. (I wasn’t comfortable with that). Had one more room with two queens. We got in there and it smelled horrible (like poop). Bugs were crawling around the fridge and the light by the sink didn’t work. Moved us again to a single king size room. We were just ready for bed and didn’t care by then. The man that worked there was very apologetic and kind. Said to come back in the morning for a refund. ( I had paid a little more for a room with 2 queens) checked out in the morning and they gave me a $10 bill.

Awesome hotel
- 5/5
Um I've stayed here few times and know the property is always looked after , I only put good because well some of the room was well worn looking and I know the staff that runs this place care about the cleanliness of property but so many people disrespect hotels they live in that I am sure it can be costly to repair various small things, Everytime a disrespectful guest room has been damaged. I know ovcsionaly they also have some longer term guests with family's ,so I also realize this can lead to more wear and tear on room. management does ask all smokers to smoke in patio area keeping rooms smoke free, the pillows could've been nicer and top cover and bedding needed to be updated it was worn, and blanket seemed more worn than when I stayed 2 weeks ago. in different room and it had cleaner walls bedding pillows and looked crisp upon entry so I know they try hard to keep property and rooms looking as good as possible and I feel safe staying there. I realize the owners do all they can to make it safe, keep it clean providing large trash cans easily accessible, and asking all smokers to use the round patio table and outdoor smoking area to keep rooms smoke free and that is more than ALOT of smaller establishments do. I will stay here again the staff is always welcoming, the property is kept safe with security cameras, and louder guests I'm halls late are not tolerated so I feel safe and will stay here again.
- 5/5
Didn’t like it was shown as a hotel when I selected “hotels” as a filter. I liked it was convenient for my use case
- 3/5
It was peaceful and clean, the staff when I checked was also very friendly and accommodating. What I didn’t like was the bathroom had a hole in wall like they forgot to repair it during possible renovations. Also mid showering the water spout fell off the tub. I checked in so late and had so an early morning the next day I didn’t have time to address the issue.
- 5/5
Close to places I needed to go
- 5/5
The staff was very nice and helpful. Everything in the room was functioning. There were some areas in need of mild aesthetic repair, but the decor was pleasant and there was more lighting than in most hotel rooms. It was quiet and I slept well. The bed was comfortable and the sheets and towels were clean.
- 5/5
Nice clean rooms, and quite
- 5/5
The front desk was nice and the bathroom at the front is working unlike the Super 8 at Willowbrook Houston a few miles away which I didn’t book.
- 1/5
I woke up with a roach on me if that gives you any idea what to expect. I did receive a refund because of this. The staff was understanding and nice to me.
- 3/5
Sheets not cleaned full
- 5/5
Great place staff is personable
- 4/5
It was good for a money
- 1/5
They informed me I didn't have a room at 7pm day of arrival. Made the reservation 3 weeks in advance. Absolutely would not recommend
- 5/5
Great Service. Quick and Easy Check In. Room was affordable, clean and felt safe. I normally do not like staying at Super 8 but this location was great!
- 5/5
Staff is friendly rooms are clean

Bed cover is old, smell bad, TV not working
- 2/5
Flukes
- 5/5
Great place for the price. Bed is comfy and low noice level. Feel safe and very convenient to shopping, food and hospital is down the street. Will stay here again
- 5/5
This is my second time staying in this hotel. Hotel bed is very comfy, low noice level. Cant really complain and will stay here again in the future.
- 2/5
The TV didn't work. Roach all over the room. The AC didn't work. They move me to another room that wasn't finish. They need to clean.
- 4/5
Simple stay. Convenient location to access many areas of ours interests. Surprisingly quiet for my stay
- 1/5
The room as you walk in seems inviting. That is until you need to use the restroom. The toilet has stains on the seat and a crack on the top. The shower is full of all kinds of hair. Doesn’t look like it has been thoroughly cleaned. The sink is cracked and is cleaned and missing the stopper so you can see all kinds of gross things. The end tables had finger prints all over. Tried wiping them down but it was still visible and sticky.
- 4/5
My only complaint was that the outlets in the bathroom area did not work. Furniture is kind of old and beat up but the room was clean and the bed was comfortable.
- 5/5
Clean and quiet
- 5/5
It was ok
- 5/5
Enjoyed the peaceful stay. Could improve on breakfast having more than chocolate chip muffins, granola bars, RAISIN BRAN or FRUIT LOOPS cold cereal coffee without sugar. The limited breakfast was not an issue with the dining options nearby. Would stay again for the peace and safety which is important to me.
- 1/5
Room was nice, comfortable & clean. Property was clean but there were people out being loud in the parking lot most of the night. Coffee & juice machines were out of order & there was only cereal with warm milk & oatmeal bars for breakfast. Couldn’t get to the gym to use equipment because it was padlocked
- 2/5
Room 212 smells strongly of cigarette smoke. No hot water for washing machine when selected to be on hot cycle. When washing machine starts filling with water I shut off the cold water supply valve on the wall and it provided no water. Now for the dryer, a half load of laundry running for 45 minutes will not provide dry clothing.
- 3/5
.
- 1/5
A lot of people were smoking on the property, outside their rooms, at the front desk, and even one of the employees despite the no smoking sign. Also, our card kept getting demagnetized easily

Lady in the front is rude
- 5/5
Nice place
- 3/5
Property maintenance is poor. Lots of wall damage. Clothing rack falling off the wall (repaired at my request, but quite poorly done). Walls needed painting. Microwave did not work at all.
- 1/5
Roaches were in the room. The sheets were dirty. The walls had patching in them where there were holes. A man followed me from upstairs to downstairs and marijuana smoke was strong going to the second floor. The front desk staff (female) was SWEET and helpful!
- 4/5
All in all it was reasonably clean quiet not a bunch of scary unsavory people I gave it a low “B” Or I’d say 3 1/2 stars. The best part of it was it is still reasonably priced.think it was almost $70
- 5/5
It was coo
- 1/5
The lady that works in the front was very rude to Me for no reason on many occasions. And didn’t open the door to the front office for me in the freezing cold. It’s the older lady that smokes all the cigarettes.
- 4/5
If you are looking for a place to lay your head for a day or two this is perfect. The parking lot space is super lit, which makes it safe. They did have a lot of surveillnce. Bed for me were not that comfy. Towels did have sort of black stains but other than that I would stay again. Overall, good place to stay when you are trying not to break the bank.
- 3/5
Room smelled musty
- 5/5
Great experience staying here
- 2/5
The older guy was terribly rude .. as if my daughter didn’t have the money to pay for our stay… he wanted her to show proof that the money was in her account… he was absolutely disgusting…. Will NEVER EVER spend another dime at this place!!! The parking as a total mess you pay for a room on the first level and have to park at the edge of the parking lot and walk all the way back to your room… CRAZY!!! But anyways NO I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this place to anyone!!!
- 3/5
The room had a stale sm ok, burn holes in the comforter, pool had algae growing in it
- 4/5
Cleaning and no smo in room rules and regulations of a new smelling rooms
- 3/5
The room wasn't clean enough for my standards, therefore I couldn't get as comfortable as I would have liked.
- 3/5
The room itself had everything we needed. Thank you!
- 5/5
I really liked that when I wanted hot water it was there! I did not have to freeze in the shower before there was hot water. This is not always so in other places.
- 3/5
Disappointed with bathroom/sink areas.
- 2/5
Can’t go inside.. they use a window and bad speaker. They wanted me to pay over the phone or cancel my reservation before I got to property. Remote had no back, just batteries. Door was damaged. Reason there is a cheap price
- 4/5
Understand the area is not in the best part of Houston, although we had no issues. The room was spartan, but clean and the beds were comfortable. The lobby was not available and business was conducted through the 24 hour service window. It was quiet with no late noise issues.
- 5/5
We paid $55 and the room was well worth it! Clean, large, quiet. The lighting is amazing and was a great surprise! Will be staying again next time we are in Houston.
- 5/5
Wat I liked was that it was a quiet area I could always get a good nights sleep , wat I didn't like was that there was no breakfast whatsoever when more than 95 percent of other hotels are serving breakfast other than that everything was great now the reason why I will never go back to this property ever again in my life is because of the front desk guy the Indian dude he always had it out for me every time he worked and he saw I was at the hotel she would always mark down the hotel as sold out so I wouldn't be able to rebook through a third party company I was forced to leave because he was kicking me out I was never a troublesome tenant I don't deserve to have that kind of targeted treatment he should be fired on the other hand Miss Mary was an angel and I thank her for everything she helped me with
- 5/5
Everything is great at this establishment every time I come the rooms are always clean the staff are always very pleasant courteous attentive and helpful I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful environment to rest for the night or a few days Palace Inn 290 and Jones road is #1 on my list of hotels to stay at whenever I visit the city
- 1/5
Rude approach and zero customer service. The room service people roll BIG carts on tiles and the noise starts at 7 am ( Sunday) which makes resting absolutely impossible. Beyond unacceptable! We changed hotels.
- 3/5
As a solo travel technician in the medical field, i found this property fair as the room was clean, the desk personal not really friendly especially when i asked about fixing the florescent light around the mirror. I was told.."it can't be fixed!". Good to know i said...noisy outside exterior in the evening as a heard banging where there was no next door room. Never saw the lobby as i worked early and always communicated through the outside window. If you want or need a quick 1-2 day stay...motel style at barely a fair room rate for this property you found it. Other properties for a few dollars more could be more accommodating. I however will not use this location again.
- 1/5
Lots of long term residents sitting outside being loud. Pot smoke seeped into room at all hours. Lobby unavailable at all times. Check in thru bullet proof glass. Not good stay away from this place.
- 3/5
No breakfast as ad.
- 4/5
Place was clean only thing I didn’t like about it was there wasn’t a dark curtain to cover the window so all the lighting would come in at night..we didn’t have time Pool area but it looked very clean.. Good price for that one night stay
- 5/5
Nice place to stay
- 2/5
I stayed there one night before I reserved a 30 day stay. That one night the AC was not working in the room. The woman at the front desk kept telling me that as soon as she finished helping two other people who were checking in; she would move me to another room. That never happened. When I spoke to the manager about it the next day he was indifferent. I chose to stay there because it is a relatively quiet, clean and isolated location. The manager let me know that the room that I was reserving needed a refrigerator repair or replacement and that it would be done by the time I checked in. I wanted to be in that room because it was on the first floor. However it was not until after I registered and paid for the room— with a different person that I was told by her- there was also not going to be a TV in that room until after 7 PM. I complained about that and she was very rude and asked me “Well do you want the room or not?” I told her that I should i’ve been told that before I paid because I knew about a refrigerator replacement but the TV not being there was too much. I felt like I was stuck because I needed somewhere to stay but I also feel like I was being treated unfairly and unkindly. I asked for a discount because of the inconvenience of the expected amenities not being in the room. She said she didn’t know she would have to talk to the manager. Nothing ever came of it. There seems to be only one tone of customer service at this hotel, and it is not acceptable.
- 3/5
What did I disliked people sitting outside the rooms.Talking and sitting next to our door smoking at night made getting rest a little difficult.
- 1/5
Not clean inside and out terrible
- 4/5
The property was clean.
- 3/5
Bugs.
- 5/5
Nice place to stay while at a baseball tournament for two days
- 5/5
Needed a place to sleep and found a nice place…if your driving a truck you have to unhook and park up front
- 2/5
Everything is worn in the room.
- 4/5
Clean
- 2/5
There was no breakfast provided. Login was through a window like checkouts in a ghetto. The tub did not have an anti-skid surface and they did not provide rubber mats. As a result my wife fell when taking a shower and injured her hip
- 3/5
Good place
- 1/5
The room was dirty, no towels in room . Stains on walls the floors were dirty and the tile coming up. Found condom on floor or room. No parking was instructed to double park behind another vehicle. I left and checked out early because of this. I would not recommend anyone staying at this location.
- 5/5
This is my go to hotel when I work in the area. It’s always clean and the owners are friendly. The older white lady who works there she is another story she is very rude and very ugly when she speaks to people.
- 4/5
King room was ok. Hair in the bathroom ,only 3 small soft pillows. Family appears to be living on the property and children playing in the parking lot .No breakfast are inside service. Towels need to be updated.
- 3/5
Other than a few roaches the hotel was ok
- 3/5
Front was rude.
- 2/5
No “free breakfast” allegedly due to COVID, but the hotel next door has figured out how to make it happen. Why not add that detail to the COVID info section on the website. No housekeeping the first day, and no replenishment of coffee or towels on the second day. Cleaning effort was pretty sketchy. Won’t stay here again.
- 4/5
It was ok for the price😀
- 3/5
Hair dryer didn't work. Bugs in the bathroom.
- 4/5
The hotel's check-in member was friendly. I slept fine because there weren't many people at the hotel to make noise. The heater worked well and the room was spacious. My only negative is that I was not told that there would not be breakfast of any type. I had chosen the hotel because breakfast was listed as being provided. There were no signs as check-in saying that breakfast was cancelled; if there had been, I would have slept in a bit more instead of getting up early to go out into the cold to find out that it was completely cancelled.
- 4/5
The staff was friendly and helpful. When I first got there I noticed that it smelled like somebody was smoking something. That’s the way I smelled when I left that place. It was hard to sleep at night because there was all kinds of doors slamming all over the place.
- 3/5
2. Reception cannot find my reservation and wanted to charge me again, even showed the email I did have reservation number and paid 3. Asked me to call Hotel.com by myself
- 3/5
My stay was okay couple little tiny roaches smell like it just been cleaned overall was okay
- 5/5
Beds so soft lol
- 2/5
I was unaware that people reside at this facility. The gatherings start and dusk and last all night. The front desk lady when we checked in was trying to warn us about it but wasn't direct...I understood at dusk. There is a bit of everything going on here...the room was clean, but it doesn't matter if you leave a do not disturb sign on the door. We came back one afternoon to find dirty towels missing with the sign on!!! Picture of room was very on point, if you can get past the exterior, this picture had to be taken when it first opened. The man at the front desk was extremely unfriendly, he carried himself as owner/manager and could care less that we were even there. Front desk lobby was locked down the entire time, and the website clearly stated breakfast. and other amenities needless to say this was not offered. We enjoyed our stay in Houston, but just not at this Hotel.
- 1/5
Proximity to main road
- 3/5
There is a whole caravan of migrants living here. They have all set up tables and grills outside their rooms and butcher and cook food while playing loud music and their kids run around screaming. They are loud till past midnight. I have been here 2 weeks for work and they are here and very loud every night. I would suggest if you are here for rest you stay somewhere quieter
- 5/5
As always for the price and location you can’t beat this place it’s always clean and staff is helpful.
- 5/5
We loved the blue light but over all everything was nice and clean.
- 2/5
Newer property that was already pretty tore up with stained bedspreads and damaged rooms and furniture..low life clientele…we won’t be back
- 2/5
We were underwhelmed. The overall 8 stars felt inflated. 4-5 stars feels more appropriate. Floors, curtain, and mini fridge were dirty. Clearly someone was smoking at some point in the non-smoking room, so it was stinky. But, location felt safe and is convenient to food options.
- 3/5
the bathroom flooring is slippery. Coffee maker was not working
- 5/5
I stay here all the time friendly staff clean rooms great price
- 4/5
The outside of the room and having to get your keys through bulletproof glass made me think that the inside of the room would be subpar. But once I opened the door to my room I was really amazed and pleased with the whole room.
- 4/5
The only things that were really weird was you could pull the sheer curtains closed, but not the heavy curtains. Also there was no secondary lock on the door. I was also a little concerned because they had one of those showers that is basically flush with the floor and water got on the floor when I took a shower.
- 4/5
Stained towels, and restroom walls.TV didn't work.
- 4/5
Tv not working, stained bed sheets, towels, shower curtain
- 5/5
Always enjoy the edgewater. Could use some updates but always a comfortable stay
