Hollywood Stars Inn - In Los Angeles (Hollywood)

Room was clean. Bathroom had two towels, but one wash cloth and one hand towel for two people. Mattress was servicable, but that's about it. The hotel offers free exterior parking, but only 9 parking spaces, all of which were taken when we returned after leaving for the afternoon. Lot's of homeless folks in the neighborhood. All in all, the hotel is not a bad choice for the budget conscious, like me.

Big room. Furniture, rooms, hotel in general is in excellent shape. Room was not clean, table and seats dirty and sticky, like someone ate before, spilt drinks, crums. After wiping, the tissue was black from the floor. Wet cleaning doesn't seem to happen. A pity for are generally nice hotel.

I will definitely be back the stay was amazing and was able to extend my trip without any problems

What went bad was once night came. Guests staying are mostly drug addicts super noisy. There is no one onsite after 10pm so no control. Couldn't sleep at all, noise went on until the a.m. Will not be returning, definitely got what I paid for. It was cheap. I just needed a day to run arons in LA. But didn't expect to have such a poor experience.

Had a great stay. Price point is great for budget travellers. Did not spend much time in hotel mostly just to sleep after a long day of exploring. Central location close to multiple public transit options. Directly beside a Walgreens in case you forgot to pack any amenities. Taco truck 2 mins walk away, great food cheap price. Would stay here again when I am back in Los Angeles.

If you need a place to stay and don’t need too many frills this is a good pick, way better than expected. Glad I didn’t pick the one down further on Sunset that place wasn’t this place by far!!

The hotel is creepy as heck on a thursday. Got there n felt like it was just me there and very liminal BUT room super big, clean and bed nice and firm. Staff was GREAT! Worth it for location and price and a walgreens next door

Was very rude to me after I had a concussion from being robbed right outside this business actually they wouldn’t let my friends come check on me every hour per drs orders are very ugly about check out time I liked them a lot at first I checked there nasty rooms for them I got proof before And after and just got shrugged off n treated poorly

The AC worked, but the parking was a bit unpredictable and inconvenience at times so that’s the only thing to watch out for the small parking area if the hotel is full to capacity, but their street parking but you gotta pay every hour until it’s free

However, the room itself was very bare-bones and lacked some basic functionality. There was nowhere to hang clothes, so I had to go across the street to buy hangers and use the shower rod. The bathroom had no counter space at all, which made it difficult to organize anything. There was also no coffee machine or microwave in the room—only a fridge. Coffee in the lobby was inconsistent; sometimes it was available, sometimes not. Parking was one of the biggest issues. If you leave at night and return late, it’s very difficult to find a spot. Street parking requires feeding meters early in the morning, and the nearest garage is about a 20+ minute walk, which isn’t practical. The lighting setup in the room was also inconvenient. There was no bedside lamp, and the main lights had to be turned off at the door, leaving you to walk back to bed in the dark. Overall, it’s a clean place with friendly staff and decent space, but the lack of basic amenities and inconvenient parking make it hard to rate higher at this time.

Bottom line, it's a hotel that could use a remodeling, oddly even though it looks lugubrious the hotel has good vibe and is decently clean.

The bathroom was apparently just cleaned with a lot of bleach and not ventilated enough, that caused me to suffer respiratory consequences for a week after, since I breathe that bleach all night, even with the air condition on and the bathroom’s door closed!! The owner’s attitude. He had many rooms empty and even though I arrived very late on the evening of the previous night, he did not allowed me to overstay until my family arrived to pick me up and told me I have to empty the room at 12:00 noon. I left my suitcase, had to walk around the neighborhood and came back by 3:00 PM, when my family was able to pick me up. The female in the office was very nice and cooperative.

TV apps never worked. If it’s evening, then it’s probably a good time to cut that coffee habit because the coffee machine only works in the morning. If you’re a deep sleeper, you’ll do fine. Otherwise, sweet dreams with those very small, very thin pillows. Oh, yeah, pros: Strong A/C, Convenient, safe parking, Convenient location, Staff very responsive, Price, especially compared to the insane rates in the area.

The hotel is showing its age and lacks structural investment. The rooms lack a lot of niceties other hotels offer. Even the soap bar is tiny.

The best thing was the location on Sunset Boulevard, three blocks from the Hollywood/Western subway station, across the street from a bus stop, right next to a Walgreens, and diagonally across from a Target. Not an upscale area, but it's OK. By bus or subway, you're not far from the main sights of Hollywood. The room was quite big, had a long shelf / bench under the TV convenient for putting your things, plus a fridge and table with two chairs. The bed was fine, the bathroom was OK. There was hot water available next to the reception. There's no breakfast offered, so we went every morning by bus to a Denny's further west on Sunset with excellent, good-value breakfasts. The room wasn't very cosy, maybe because of the large size and the wooden floor - wall-to-wall carpeting might be nice. Also the lighting could be a factor - the area with the TV and long shelf was kind of dark, and lights next to the bed, on each side, would be good. The view from the window was of a wall and some plants, but that's no big deal.

So I chose this hotel thinking it would be decent but I was wrong. The room had an odd smell, random furniture such as an office chair with no desk was in the room and also sketchy people were hanging around outside the hotel. I checked out immediately as soon as I inspected the room and found a better hotel to stay in.

Bad hotel. There felt like there was zero security and there weren’t even walls in the hallway, just metal gates. My fiancé and I chose to leave it was that bad.

The AC maintenance was on top of any other.I could think of comparison, even state anywhere else, not even the ritz could get me, or were they like, literally?Oh my god , like I asked myself , why then forgot.

It’s in a really great location and the hotel was clean. The heater/AC does work and it does not smell at all like most cheap motel rooms. Of course it is not a five-star hotel but it is worth the economic price

The room was clean, one thing was the toilet seat which didn't appear to be cleaned properly. We had to place tissue on it each time using it.

Great location, easy parking, spacious rooms. The room absolutely stank of bleach and there was someone else’s hair in the bathroom. Housekeeping took away my towels and didn’t replace them, and one staff member followed me out of the building one day and started lecturing me about needing to “be present in the moment”. I appreciate the sentiment, but not the delivery!

The website stated 16 years and younger would be free, When speaking with the front desk manager, he said, " No 16 Adult". So I was charged $10 extra!! The actual size of the beds were very small. The site stated the room can fit 4 people. There was NOT ENOUGH PARKING SPOTS. I asked for extra blankets due to the beds being extremely small, not fitting 4 people, my partner and I slept on the floor so my kids can have enough bed space. We NEVER received the blankets.The front manager was extremely RUDE. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS MOTEL.

The best thing about this hotel is definitely location, and price for the location it’s in. The room was spacious and for the most part, clean. Nada Terrible place, I would never come back! Dirty and filthy. There were cockroaches in the rooms. On top of that, even though they told me they would accept an Amazon package, they rejected it. They don’t offer luggage storage service, and check-out was at 10 a.m. I had to pay for luggage storage elsewhere.

Staff is always professional, but more importantly, they are considerate and very accommodating. That's why I always go back... again and again. My stay was too short.

I booked a couple months in advance the listing said it had a microwave of course when we get there, there is no microwave and the listing has changed which is upsetting then there’s not enough parking so I parked on the street an got ticketed so that was fun. Not horrible but probably wouldn’t stay again.

The manager agreed to cancel since there was no parking anywhere but didn’t sign the agreement of cancellation. Being honest that there was no parking anywhere

Good room size for double bed. Only downside was the stand-in shower which had no lip in the floor to prevent water flow to main bathroom area making the bathroom messy. Overall good stay and would stay again here.

There was very limited parking which made us alter our plans in order to have a parking space off street. Entire hotel smelled like curry all the time. Towels, blankets and pillows were terrible. WiFi service never worked.

Hotel was disgusting with a very strong curry stench. My room was not cleaned properly. Bathroom was gross. I had to clean and disinfect it myself. An awful fight broke out in the middle of the night with a woman screaming for her life. I just didn’t feel safe. Drug addicts in front of the hotel too. The staff was nice specifically Patrick.

Parking: Tight alleyway entrance/exit behind the hotel with about 8 parking spots. My rental Ford Bronco was able to park there both nights of my stay. Nearby street parking rarely available. Room: Lighting was 2 dim fluorescents overhead, no lamps. Extra firm bed with 3 pillows, headboard w/ side tables, small table and chairs, mini fridge (made noise), benches for luggage, TV (I never used). Windows w/ wooden blinds, no curtains/drapes, view of a wall, and I needed sleep mask at night. Bathroom w/ hairdryer, towels, soap bar, packets of shampoo and conditioner, toilet and shower. Lighting was a bit better. Shower head bound with electrical tape, water pressure was low-ish with decent hot water. Some noise heard between rooms, I listened to ambient noise with my phone at night for sleep. Service: First call to hotel was met with someone (she/her?) that was abrupt/short and unhelpful with their answers. I inquired about possibility of early check-in, and they replied “No.” I asked where parking was because the entrance is not clearly visible from street, and they said “It’s in the back.” However, the person that checked me in (he/him?) smiled, communicated friendly, and was helpful.

I like the fact that it was in proximity of everything. Shopping, dining, entertainment, adult entertainment and the area seems safe. I'd definitely stay again. What i didn't like was parking. Very small parking lot. Everything else is ok. A larger TV would be 👍 👌.

The staff were really friendly and carried our bags upstairs for us, and there were coffee amenities offered. The room was MASSIVE, so much more space than expected, especially for the low price. The location was really good, easy access to the walk of fame and hiking routes for the Hollywood sign, and opposite a Target so easy to get whatever you needed. Would have preferred liquid soap over soap bars, but otherwise can't think of anything that could be changed.

I have been coming to The Hollywood Star Inn about 3 to 4 times a year for the past 10 years. It was a bit rough in those early days, but I have to say, it has become a hidden gem. It's been remodeled, nothing fancy mind you, but a comfortable mattress, AC that works, and spotlessly clean, the bathroom impeccable, free parking and good security. It you are looking for a place to stay and don't want to spend a fortune, this is a great option!

One of the worst hotel in my life The location is good but we had a crazy girl who scream on the street for 3 hours, impossible to sleep, and it was every night during 4 days ! And to finish, we was room 204, we have seen a camera on us from the neighbors I pretty sur this cam capt us naked

Patrick at the front desk keep track of all the goings on. The first night I had a bad panic attack and I had to go to the front of the motel. Patrick helped me through it and then helped me to my room. This was going above and beyond anything you might expect. I wouldn't have gotten through it without him Long black hair in the tub. I have silver and brown and short hair. Even if it was from cleaning it was very noticeable.

I had an extremely disappointing stay at this hotel due to poor management, lack of communication, and zero accountability—and it didn’t just ruin my stay but also affected the rest of my trip. I booked a three-night stay, signing an agreement at check-in. However, on the third afternoon, the hotel removed all my belongings without notice due to a system error showing my check-out date as a day earlier. They never apologized. What frustrated me most was how they handled it. No staff informed me I had to check out, and that morning, they even provided toiletries upon requests. That evening—via a Booking.com chat—they told me my things had already been removed. Only after I insisted did they finally check my reservation, but by then, it was too late. Although they put my belongings back, some items were missing. A staff member claimed they "looked like trash"—yet they had packed used tissues and wet wipes. Among the lost items were my reusable toothbrush cup and two small travel bottles, which were brand new and useful. After I reported this, the hotel offered body wash, shampoo, and a plastic cup as compensation. While I appreciated the gesture, it didn’t fully replace what was lost or address their carelessness. At check-out on the forth day, they initially promised a refund but later claimed it was a mistake and refused. Only after I wrote a long complaint did they agree—but instead of 30% off my total stay, they refunded just 30% of the last night, which is absurd. This stressful experience didn’t just ruin my stay—it disrupted my entire trip, forcing me to deal with missing belongings and waste of time texting with the hotel. Their lack of responsibility made everything worse. If you want a stress-free, professionally managed hotel, look elsewhere.

Location was excellent. Bus stop and underground train is just a short walk away. Staff were very friendly and the security guy from Georgia deserves a shout out for helping us with our cases. Check in was easy, as was checking out. Room was very big,clean and the aircon superb. A mirror in the room would have been good and also a safe would have helped.

there is no hotel there. You guys stole my money can you please give it back? I didn’t like the fact that I paid $250 for a hotel that doesn’t is not even there. You shouldn’t list hotels that aren’t in business anymore. That’s extremely inconvenient and I pay $250 and I was literally walking around Hollywood trying to find another hotel in the middle of the night. Please refund my money immediately.

Location is good, it's near the metro, and can be walkable to Hollywood tourist area but not safe to walk around. Staff are friendly but very limited parking

I actually really enjoyed the location and the local vibe. Room was huge.nicely furnished.only 2 complaints.bed was big .just very hard.and the other was room had bathtub just no stopper.no way to use it.was so looking forward to.other than that it was nicer than expected.

The room needed to better illuminated, as its only lighting came from two dim ceiling fixtures. The illumination could be much improved by the addition of a floor lamp, as well as bedside lamps on either side of the bed. The gentleman at reception kind enough to lend us one bedside lamp.

Basic hotel that meets my needs. Room is clean and the TV has a wide selection of channels, including HBO. Overall, for the price, this hotel is a good deal, clean and conveniently located near the metro.

Room was huge. It smelled of cleaning products though and there were no lamps at the bedside so you had to turn off the light and make your way to the bed in the dark. (I used my cellphone for light though, lol). For the price it was comfortable, had a TV, refrigerator (wish there were a microwave - it had none). It was secure, and had a nice hot shower. No frills and thrills. Got the job done.

The room was clean and the bed was fairly comfortable. It was difficult to find parking so we had to park on the street. The room door and hallway carpet was very old and dirty and the door was hung crooked which didn't feel very safe.

It’s a ok place to stay in Hollywood. Staff was nice and helpful, but no facial tissue in the room , coffee machine has no coffee, only hot water available.

Construction and traffic noise can be an annoyance for the 1-3 rooms closest to the front. We were the 2nd room upstairs and traffic never woke us up.

Regretfully, the area has gotten worse since 25 years ago, despite the motel's cleanliness and competent management. Unclean sidewalks and a large number of homeless people, especially in the metro area. The neighborhood is filthy and horrible 👎. I hope the council will take a close look at it.

The back door lock is broken. People can easily get into the hotel without authorization. Felt not safe but the overall experience is ok.

Came here to spend the night after attending a concert nearby. We had a very smooth check in and the staff was very helpful and kind. Our hotel room was clean and we slept peacefully, but parking spaces are very limited. However, when we arrived there were many spots still left. Would plan to stay here again!

I payed under 120 for this room it wasn’t the newest but it was good nice and clean the customer service was great. they let us check in early and we had no problem coming back very late ( we were staying there cuz we went to horror nights). Idk what his name was he might of been a maintenance man because we saw him speaking to house keeping but that man was very kind and helpful because of him I’m giving this inn 5 stars thankyou sir 😊

I had a very good stay at this hotel. It was no frills, but clean and in a great location. Staff was excellent. Very nice people and helpful. I highly recommend staying there.

They say that they have a parking lot but they actually have it full all the times. I had to rent a sprking station 20 mins away from the hotel.

I parked outside half of the time cuz parking was full. Main door closed after hours making it inconvenient to go to back for entry. A/C so loud it woke me up every time it turned on. Sink flooded suddenly out of nothing. Refrigerator worked fine. I wish there was a microwave too. Comforter was ok but sheets could be better. Price was fair I guess

Staff was rude as my husband said how you doing brother to a worker and he said that’s now how you greet someone and started a fight like he was going to start a fight. For sure not the hotel or location I thought I was booking. This hotel is in the HOOD!

The receptionist was really kind and checking in went smoothly. The room was bigger than expected. We found a few stains on the sheets and the floor, but it wasn't terrible. The bathroom was clean and the toilet had some anti-tamper tape on it to prove that it had been cleaned. A hair dryer, some soap and shampoo was provided. The pole for the shower curtain had some cheap tape duct tape around the wall, most likely a cheap fix, but the shower itself was fine. The room came with a mini fridge and a television with DirectTV, which worked great. The free WiFi required us to accept their terms once every day but worked quite well after that. The hotel definitely had a few small issues but was more than serviceable. In fact we were surprised, considering the price, that the room was so spacious, came with all the amenities we needed and the issues that were there were so minimal. The area is the biggest consideration - I'd be nervous going out late by myself. Luckily they have a guard and lock the front door at 10:30 pm, only letting those with keycards get inside. Overall, we would definitely stay again if we were to return to Hollywood.

For the most part the hotel was what you paid for. I stayed with my 15 month old, sister and mom. We felt safe for the most part. We didn’t hear a lot of the street noise. We also didn’t have a problem with the parking but I felt like some people did. Staff was amazing they let us check in earlier than the 4pm check in time.

Very clean, quiet place in a great location. Other reviewers are right, though, that the towels are too small. I wouldn't know how to manage if there was more than one person in a room. Polite, efficient staff. Free parking out back was appreciated and helpful. I could always find a spot, but often I took the last one (might be harder to use on weekend stays).

This hotel was such a disappointment. There’s literally no furniture. It’s got a bed, little table, weird bench, tiny tv and a fridge. The room is VERY dark even with both lights on. There’s no closet, no hangers, no bedside lamp, no coffee maker, zero countertops for cosmetics in the bathroom apart from the toilet lid., literally the basic of basics. Tiny parking just for few cars… if all the spots are taken then you have to find parking on the street which may be challenging. I do not recommend and I will never stay there again. If you need to stay in the are go somewhere else…. Just check some chain hotels at least you’ll know what to expect. I’m just gonna add that for two people we got two paper thin large towels, 1 small towel and 1 face cloth. That’s it… the same with toiletries 1 set only.

For the price it is value for money. I would stay again.
