The room was very spacious with a great view of the hills, but the primary reason we booked here was for the pool which was closed off for construction which wasn’t mentioned in the description. Would stay again once the pool is fixed up!

I will definitely not be bothering booking here again. It was too complicated. There was nobody to really help you. If you had a question and it was way too expensive for no service.Basically, deposit two fifty.Come on, it's crazy. It's not my best choice. But maybe for like last minute, you don't have nowhere else. To go for sure book it

Our experience was disappointing. The location of the hotel was good, but there was not enough parking available. The room was not clean when we arrived. We booked the room for two people, yet only one towel was provided and there was only about a quarter roll of toilet paper left. In addition, the bed was very noisy whenever we moved, and there were several broken items in the room. We expected a much better level of cleanliness, maintenance, and attention to detail.

The outside of the hotel from the parking area isn’t much to look at but the rooms are clean and modern. Ours had a lovely kitchenette with nice countertops. The floor was kind of dirty/greasy feeling throughout our room. It’s weird that there is no front desk but texting them through the text where you get the link to the key QR code was quite convenient and they responded quickly. We stayed 1 night and wished we could have used the pool. One night was enough.

This hotel was not what they showed in the pictures. They share the property with a Japanese restaurant and show pics of the restaurant. The outside of the property is run down looking . The pool is unusable . I ended up complaining and cutting my trip short would not recommend this place

I specifically booked this room because on the listing it said that it included a king bed and a twin bed and when I got there, it was just a king bed. I tried reaching out to the phone number. They provided to discuss this matter, but they told me that it’s not even their listing and that’s the room I booked. They didn’t offer any accommodations for a family of two adults and two kids so we all had to sleep in that one bed. I’m not sure how they are conducting business here, but I’m pretty sure that’s false advertisement.

The photos of this property are VERY misleading. You assume that you have booked a relaxing stay in Hollywood Hills that has Japanese inspiration and that is not at all the case. If I knew the property was basically an AirBnB I would have selected another property. Upon arrival it was hard to reach someone, I paid to park in an area that wasn't exactly secure. The first night I had to physically push the gate open to access parking. When communicating via text the person answering my questions got a bit snippy with me. Then to see the rooms were stacked like dorm rooms, my neighbor was someone who lived on property and there were several of those. The stairwell was covered in cob webs and felt very unstable when walking. Upon entering the room it was okay but not the best. I had to leave and purchase bug spray as there were several cob webs in the actual room. I woke up in the middle of the night one night to a huge spider near my toothbrush. There was no concierge or room service yet I came home from the beach and two women were attempting to access my room. They stated they were housekeeping but had not visited the previous two days. My last night there I planned to relax on the balcony but rats yes plural two rats were running back and forth for almost an hour. I absolutely should have left the day I arrived it was not a lux stay at all. Oh and the code to the pool never worked at any point extremely disappointed and not worth it whatsoever.

Seems the parking spots were for every other room except ours! We had to park below in the hotel guest spots and walk up a hill. Room refresh (housekeeping) is every three days, did not know this and had to request clean towels, late at night, for the next day, they were able to get to us, so make sure you save your towels!! And make sure you request more coffee pods. We only had two, and I can only assume that was supposed to last for three days! Air conditioning unit was right above the bed. I had to sleep in opposite direction (head at the foot of the bed) because it was cold air blowing, and you will need the AC!!! Never saw the pool, not really sure how to get to it. Again, the pictures online look very nice!!! I do have to say, the only way to communicate with them was texting, and they were pretty quick to respond, except when we texted that we were checking out…never heard back. Overall, it was nice and if we go back, I will get the city view.

The room was clean and spacious. Lacked kitchen amenities that would have helped, toaster, bowls, cooking utensils. The clean sheets were then left for us to change ourselves.

It was quite difficult to find the entrance when we first arrived and everyone we asked was going is wrong directions. The entrance is a gate located right next to the Yamashiro restaurant valet parking. Also our television never worked and they never did anything about it. Also there was a plumbing issue in our tub that it took me complaining for 2 days for them to come fix and clean the tub. Also there’s no front desk which admittedly I just don’t realize when I booked but has I known before, I wouldn’t have booked here

Close to Runyon Canyon, so good hiking nearby. My room was literally 10 feet away from an entrance to a hookah bar. Just when I wanted to go to sleep, people kept coming and going up and down hotel stairs to enter this venue. Music was incredibly loud and continued till 3am. I couldn't sleep. Had to use ear plugs and noise cancelling headphones on top of them and still couldn't fall asleep till it got a bit more quiet. Terrible experience - had no idea my bedroom will be right next to a club! in the early morning leave blowers started walking around the property as well. suffice to say I didn't sleep.

Very nice room, amazing view. No elevators and a lot of stairs. Don’t bring rolling suitcases or a lot of luggage, if you can avoid it. Also, there are no food options at the hotel outside of the restaurant that does not have reservations until late night. • Forced to rely on a broken mobile web app just to access the property • Unsafe and misleading room access through a dark alley with rat traps Room issues were severe. • First room had a broken sliding door that would not close • Second room had a mouse run out of the bedroom • Third room smelled strongly of marijuana and had slippery floors from excess cleaning chemicals Response and resolution failed. • Long delays handled only by text • No urgency despite safety and cleanliness issues • Offered only a partial refund for a three-night stay This was not a staff or amenity problem. It was a basic safety, cleanliness, and management failure.

First is the self check in, i guess they want you to check in by yourself so their staff can avoid your unhappy face and complains. Never see a more sorry looking building been called "hotel", it was some old 50s or 60s building. very basic decoration inside, they repainted but you just know it`s old. floor is thin, i can hear every steps form the room above. most the furniture in the room just old and cheap. view? maybe on the top floor, all i can see is the roof of another sorry looking building. All the nice looking photo about nice Japanese building, the garden, the view, are from the restaurant, they have nothing to do with the "hotel" part. for that price, there are much better options around.

They do not have any human in-person guest services. There is a kiosk or you text a phone number. The buildings are very old and there is dry rot everywhere. Although the rooms have a “nice” facelift, the floors shift or sag wherever you walk. Windows have rotting wood that was panted over. And at one point the upstairs neighbor was watering plants and the water was coming in through the windows and ceiling! There is also a hooka club lounge near the pool area that is loud until late, with patrons coming into the hotel and pool premises to use the pool restrooms. View is nice, but building conditions, lounge noise, and the lack of any front desk or human guest services is really a turn off.

There is no front desk and staff is randomly on the premises so if you need anything fresh towels for example. It really depends on your luck. I called for towels at night and was told I needed to request before 4 pm. I was told they could bring them around 8am-9am in the morning. I called them again in the morning at 9am and they said they would bring them to me around 10am. On Saturday night the main road to get up there was completely backed up because the property is shared with the Yamashiro restaurant. We spent about an hour just waiting to get to the hotel parking. Also Yamashiro restaurant uses the hotel guest parking for valet parking. So parking is limited.

I'm giving this place 5 stars based on the context of what the place actually is and what my expectations were after reading other reviews. I really enjoyed my stay here. We stayed in room 107. The website is a little misleading on what the place actually looks like and the condition of the rooms. The bed was super comfortable and we had a great view of Hollywood from the room and balcony. The room was huge was pretty clean but it could have been a little cleaner with paying attention to detail. The room looks like nice but also looks like it's ready for a remodel with some wear and tear on everything. The parking is limited and can be a little tight. It's a great location if you want to spend time in Hollywood. We spent most of our time in downtown LA and it was about 25 mins from that. I'd stay here again. If the view is important to you, make sure you get one of the rooms that has a view like 107 did. If you're not expecting perfection you'll enjoy it here. I'd stay here again though.

Now for the issues. This is an older building, there were rotten spots in the bathroom and living area. I can look past that. Lighting was horrible in our room. No light over the mirror in the bathroom, about 1/4 of the space didn't have any lights at all. We were in room 206, never had a problem when we came in as it was closest to the Motel Guest parking. The spots are small for the SUV but we managed. The old stairs that use to go directly to Hollywood were closed off and probably not safe to walk on anyways. If you walk down the road, the gate was locked with no way to open it unless you "break in" (which was not that hard) The remote for our TV was missing. i informed them right after we arrived and 3 days later and trying to get another remove we never had a TV in our room. (I mean the guest services tried everything from giving me the staff password to opening another room to try that remote to even changing rooms to a larger room the last night) Our room was lacking furniture. Nothing to put clothes in or on. The TV didn't face the bed which would have been an issue if we could have watched it.

Like Hollywood itself, the promo reel for this hotel is fairly airbrushed. We had a clean, very spacious one bedroom which was ideally situated near the Hollywood Bowl. We ended walking back to the hotel after our concert but note, it is a fairly steep endeavour. It was worth it though as ride-share looked to be at least an hour wait for such a short distance. Read others reviews to decide whether this Hotel will suit your expectations. Hollywood Hills Hotel was great for us as we only needed it for one night. Be patient for your room key to be sent as it literally is sent to you just before check-in. For international travellers, you will a full on plan for your phone that allows DMs to your phone number. Communication with staff by email was very good with a quick response time.

For these reasons, I would book this place again: Because it overlooked the other close by buildings and out over Hollywood. The room was large and comfortable w a kitchen and supplies. I also had a sentimental reason for wanting to try it out as my husband and I had been at both Yamashiro's and the Magic Castle many times in the past. The price was reasonable. The bathroom left a lot to be desired as the tub was strangely corroded. I would have loved to be informed that there was no elevator and the only way to the rooms were stairs...at night with luggage. I would have also loved more and better directions to get to the rooms. There was no one to help in person - I found myself at the Yamashiro's valet area where a valet was not friendly and just asked me to drive out but had no empathy for my looking for the rooms at night. I guess he was busy but it was slightly scary for a single woman at night.

We had a 3night stay at Hollywood Hills Hotel. The view of LA from our 5th floor room balcony was absolutely beautiful. The room was large and clean. The location to Hollywood Bowl and restaurants is great. The hotel does not have any elevators and has a lot of stairs which this info should have been forthcoming. The hotel does not have a front desk, so you have to call or text when you need something. On day two our toilet stopped working; my husband texted the concierge who responded by saying he would call a plumber (no maintenance on site) After hearing that my husband fixed the toilet himself. Our drain in the bath tub was extremely slow, by the time we finished taking a shower the tub was half full of water. We called down to request more towels at 4pm one day and was told that housekeeping had left for the day and we would have to wait till the next morning to get clean towels. On day two our QR code didn’t work on our room door. We called the concierge and had to leave a message, then we texted. After ten minutes of standing outside of our room, we finally got in after the concierge reprogrammed the code. This hotel is old, run down and lacks all human interaction. Customer service is awful because there wasn’t any. There was a large bag of garbage that was sitting next to the stairs that was there when we checked in and didn’t get moved till two days later. I give this hotel one star and that’s because of the beautiful view and the room was clean.

We stayed for 3 days and two nights. We had to use the same towels for three days. On the second day, I called for new towels and Front Desk said that room service stopped working at 4 pm. I requested new towels the next day, but they were not delivered. This hotel needs to have room service 24 hours.

This is a very particular property; it is perched up on a hill where the legendary, century-old Yamashiro restaurant sits. The hotel is not really a hotel, but an apartment-like group of suites. The views of the hills and Hollywood are really great, but the property is a bit run down. If you're into the whole slightly-creepy-David-Lynch-Hollywood-Hills vibe as I am, then this hotel is for you. It's clean, but does have that distinctive, mysterious "LA smell" of old carpet and wood. Overall the experience is great. The property shows its age, but is very clean, and it all adds to the atmosphere. It is VERY Hollywood Hills, so if you want to immerse in the vibe of the place, then by all means stay here.

Our room had a broken sofa, sings of water damage throughout (broken plaster, peeling/discolored paint, broken drywall, rickety ac unit falling off wall). It didn’t have enough linens for our party and it took hours to get enough towels and I had to follow up on it multiple times. The contactless concierge/check in was not smooth - multiple issues with incorrect codes and was unable to resolve any issues in a satisfactory way. This place is not worth the near $300/night I paid to stay here.

The Good: The view is amazing!!! Great balcony with view of the holly wood sign. Little kitchen set up (I just used the fridge to store my food). Overall pretty modern simple set up. Not so great: My microwave didn’t work. The floorboards could use a new coat of paint, there’s also some rust on some of the fixtures in the bathroom, and the drain to my tub wouldn’t close so I couldn’t take a bath sadly. I didn’t use the pool so I can’t comment on that. Overall a good experience. I would maybe stay here again.

Not a hotel per se: no one is on site. Communication is haphazard. Room very much not as depicted on the website. Parking lot terrifying to navigate. Walls are paper; we heard everyone walking by. Suite smelled. We wrote off our pre-paid reservation and moved to an actual hotel that night.

Anyhow, I do not like the check-in process and that there is no front desk. You check in with a QR code, and if you forget your phone, you're screwed because there's no one there who can let you in. So, in essence, you're best way of thinking is, don't leave the room without your phone. On my first night, they seemingly didn't change the sheets (I didn't know this) and I was scratching all night long, so I had a very bad first night of sleep. When the maid came the following day, it was an inconvenient time so I asked her to come back, she said no. I called the number then texted and well, it's hard to get in touch with a staff person to help you. Finally they called back and I explained the issue, was told she'd be back, but she never showed. I called back and the manager came over. He was great, and I helped him change the sheets. He tried hard, very nice guy. Overall, I don't think I'd stay here again. I don't think I should do the maid's job. There was a door with a squirrel-ridden balcony that I struggled to open; the runner on the floor was filthy. I booked a room with a view, and what I got was a room with a tree blocking any view and if I twisted my head I could see a little bit of Hollywood.

I was afraid for my safety the entire time I was there. The door handle on the main door was broken, there was no peep hole or extra lock from the inside. There was crumbs and stains on the sheets. The heater was set to 82 degrees Celsius and there was no way of changing that. The restroom has no ventilation, the bathroom seat was broken. There’s a loud hookah lounge downstairs that played loud music ALL night. At night there was a scary looking dark skinned man on the stairway observing God knows what. The paint was pealing. This place is run down and in very poor condition. I’m unsure how or why this place is even offered, it’s very unsanitary and unsafe.

This hotel was absolutely amazing, I think it’s perfect for your first trip to LA! The location is perfect and you can see the Hollywood sign right from the front of the hotel, walking distance from Hollywood blvd. :) the room smelled so clean when we walked in. And we had a corner room which was the absolute best! The views were immaculate. The customer service is great, they answer within 2 minutes. Check in and check out is contactless and there is not front desk so if you’re looking to leave your bags somewhere before check in, this is not the place. I would stay here again :)

Love the location with the view. Maybe I had higher expectations based on pictures I saw. While the interior had updated furniture and a coat of paint, the suite could use an upgrade. The tub was peeling and the area felt run-down. The QR door key was troublesome. Sometimes it took several tries. There has to be far advancements in QR readers these days that it should not be difficult to open a door.
