Chateau Marmont
About Chateau Marmont
The Chateau Marmont was built as the first deluxe high-rise apartment complex on Sunset Boulevard, opening its doors in February of 1929. Its gothic charm and old-world European flair were inspired by the Chateau Amboise in the Loire Valley, where Leonardo da Vinci was said to have spent his final years. With each passing decade, every Hollywood icon of its generation -- from Greta Garbo and Clark Gable to Marilyn Monroe and James Dean -- has called it home. It has remained the hotel of choice for the entertainment industry, music, fashion and art world ever since. Within its thick, poured concrete walls and among its lush tropical foliage, it is still the favored hideaway of a clientele looking for the utmost in discretion, privacy, and excellent service with all of the warmth, personality and charm of a boutique hotel.

Historic and full of famous ghosts, quaint rooms with good quality linen, great bar. Sunset Boulevard - that end is a little scary.

Overall hotel and dining was great. Air conditioning did not work in room and had to have the maintenance team several times to my room. They ended up bring a fan but it was not adequate.

First time at the Chateau: the hotel is deliberately old-fashioned, but its charm is fully matched by top-notch service and staff. You might find yourself sipping a cocktail at the bar as a Hollywood diva walks in, or discover the pool closed for a private event like the launch of a new album: this is Chateau Marmont. A special mention goes to Carlos, a wonderful person and a truly attentive professional. Nothing

Rich with nostalgia and charm. People watching is epic. Staff couldn’t be more welcoming. It was a bucket list item for us to stay here. While it’s pricey, you feel like you’re special here. You won’t forget the experience. Didn’t want to leave.

Hotel is too impressed with itself. There is a difference between quickly and morose and the CM is morose. inflexible to my needs

I had the most horrible experience at Chateau. I got into the hotel to check in only to be told there was no room available AFTER I had processed booking and payment on booking.com I had the most horrible experience at Chateau. I got into the hotel to check in only to be told there was no room available AFTER I had processed booking and payment on booking.com. I was met with such degrading attitude by the night time manager. When I questioned how I was possible to make a booking but they are telling me there are no rooms available. I asked if they had made a mistake. Only to be yelled at by the manager that is it not his fault. Regardless of it being his fault or not I expected the most historical property in Los Angeles would have some competent employees who knows about customer service. Clearly the hotel does not have that standard when it comes to their employees therefore do not expect anything extraordinary here.

Alex the chef is outstanding and the food and service superb! Love the pool and everyone except for the girl at check in was wonderful and really kind. The entire reason we booked a room with booking.com was because we wanted a patio. Booking.com site said a patio was included. That’s what we paid for but No… When we arrived the girl at the desk charged us hundreds of dollars extra for a room with a patio. That was very disappointing since we had just stayed at the hotel 2 weeks prior & it was late at night when we checked in so obviously nobody else was going to book the room she charged us so much extra for. I thought that was rude.

Historic, preserved the past, room was a blast from the past. privacy. The complimentary snacks, olives & wine were appreciated. Gardens, fountain are well cared for. Complimentary bottled water at night turn down was very thoughtful. The steak frites at the restaurant was so very delicious! A bit pricey. We arrived at 2 pm, aware this is early, was told we would receive a text when room was ready; approaching 4 pm, we checked with reception again & was then given a key. Seems as if we were forgotten.

We were greeted with an upgraded charming large room! I worried this iconic hotel would be snobby, but I have never felt more welcome by the charming staff. Loved the ambience, midnight food menu, and breakfast in the patio restaurant. We met many of the guests, which was fun. The black floor in the lobby, gothic architecture, and gardens enchanting. We only stayed one night, then we checked into the Beverly Hills Hotel. Next time we will stay at Chateau Marmont!
