Nice clean, quiet room. AC unit worked well. The check in person was very friendly. Had a nice stay.
- 5/5
This is a great hotel! The rooms a spacious, newly updated, with nice clean bathrooms. WiFi is good and the staff is super friendly. I got a great rate here. Would definitely come back!
- 3/5
The location was convenient, lots of food and restaurants.
- 3/5
It was close to coffee shops and amenities. Very affordable for a quick one night stay, staff very friendly. The motel is very old and very smelly. Pack an air freshener or something. Beds were moderately comfy. I read previous reviews about random red spots on the floor and the bedding, cleaning, etc. the comforters did look u washed or stained. Lots of hot water, having the freezer with the mini fridge was very helpful as I travelled with reusable ice packs. It was close enough to where I needed to be. To be honest I would not stay again….. I like having a place that’s more modern and clean.
- 4/5
The room was clean and the bed was somewhat comfy. However, there is no coffee available to make in the rooms and you have to make your own coffee out in the lobby. That's not a deal-breaker but I do enjoy having a coffee maker in the room. Otherwise the staff was nice and the rooms were clean and updated. So, if I needed to I would possibly stay here again and bring my own little coffee maker.

Stayed here for 2 days came in my hotel and the window screen was broke, the TV was broke, and the front door would not shut it stayed open all 2 nights. Staff was terrible they never helped out and they are very rude and disrespectful! I would not recommend this hotel to stay at.
- 5/5
It was a nice room
- 5/5
Another pleasant stay
- 4/5
There is really nothing wrong with the room staff was amazing and was very nice the only thing that I would say that was wrong with the room is that on one side of the bed one of the lights didn't work as well as the plugins on the wall under that same light other than that a really nice place to stay if you're looking for cost-effective places to stay at
- 5/5
Room was clean and modernized. Front desk person was friendly. It was super close to the hospital which is just what we needed for early morning surgery. Is it the Hilton? No. Would I stay here again? Yes
- 4/5
Clean and cheerful staff.
- 2/5
Dirty towels with hairs on them, door hook broken, and loud shower
- 4/5
Nice staff. Clean room, fridge, microwave. Comfy bed. Slept well. Near busy street but didn't hear much noise. I was here 2 nights because Inside of house being painted. Nice amemtities.I brought my own food, but there are plenty of places to eat or order in. It would be nice to have a small table to eat at. Pleasant stay.
- 5/5
Staff was freindly, room was clean. Convenient to resturants and down town area.
- 3/5
More reliable coffee service in the morning.

- 4/5
Everything good.... No coffee in the morning though😐
- 5/5
Everything was Good... Plan to come back
- 4/5
The bathroom was dated but clean. The room itself was updated. There were black out shades which I really appreciated. The bed is comfortable and overall it was perfect as a pit stop. I would stay here again. We had some DoorDash delivered and they didn't give us forks. the lady at the front was super helpful in finding us some plastic silverware so we could eat. Staff was very friendly.
- 5/5
I slept better here than I have at any motel in my life. Surprisingly quiet, comfortable, and dark in the room. Window opened to allow fresh air, sheets were not scratchy, laminate floor and no gross carpet and didn’t smell like stale pot smoke, yay. It was a no vacancy Friday night but the halls were quiet and guests were respectful. I never expect to sleep well in a motel so was quite happy. The water smells like chlorine but was plenty hot. Good location with Human Bean across the street. Staff was friendly.
- 4/5
Had a good experience staying here, the only bad thing is that a bad smell coming out of the either shower drain or toilet, that if the bathroom door was left open the smell spreads out to the entire room. But everything else was great.
- 5/5
The only concern I have is the air conditioner was a little loud. But overall the motel and staff where great.
- 4/5
My Amtrak train was 5+ hours late, so it really helped that motel had late check-in! Thanks.

- 2/5
Lots of restaurants around. That was the good. Tbe bad: The bedcover was dirty in our room, we removed it. There wasn't enough coffee being made for guests. It is a cheap no frills place to lay your head down for the night.
- 2/5
It was dirty. Stained comforters & sheets. The individuality wrapped plastic cups were wet on the wrapper. It was gross. Would NOT recommend.
- 3/5
The lobby, hallways, and room smelled and set my asthma off. Bed spreads were stained on the outside l l but the sheets were clean. Other then that the room was very basic. It didnt have a coffee pot but it did have a refrigerator and a stained microwave. We were on the ground floor and there window stop was not long enough to keep anyone out so we didn't want to leave the window open while sleeping.
- 2/5
The pictures make it look a lot nicer than it is. Really, it’s an old motel with tweakers riding their bikes in and hanging about the parking lot. We booked a room with two queens but got a room with full sized beds and the staff lied about it when I double checked on arrival. When I came back to the front desk and said they were not queens, they were nice about it and gave us another room. We had to pack up, move and unpack again. They were also very nice about giving us a late check out. For a clean, no-frills room, it was fine. But for the price, I could have gotten much better. I won’t be back.
- 3/5
A little run down but at least they let us check out a little late, thanks!
- 5/5
Well.they just got remodeled.
- 5/5
the check in was very freindly
- 5/5
It was fine
- 2/5
When I checked in the room they gave me as dirty and the man gave me the keys. When I discovered it was dirty. And informed him he said no it’s clean. I showed him the room and then was given another room. Also the front desk was not open to exit so I had to exit thru the side exit. I had to carry 2 suitcase up one floor then down to exit. There is no ADA access from the hotel.
- 5/5
It was totally awesome
- 3/5
Motel was just ok, no coffee in room, and be prepared to eat Mexican food the whole time as that is what is located all around.
- 3/5
I mainly just used the bed, the desk, and the bathroom. I just needed a bed to sleep in for the night.

Property was clean and quiet. However, many things were broken or missing. Bedside lamps were not working, one was missing the shade and bulb. Overhead light was missing its shade. Side table lamp did not work. The fridge and microwave are in the closet, so there is no useable closet. The smoke detecter was ripped off the wall. The window frame was so warped, the window wouldnt shut. No coffee pot in the room and the lobby, where the coffee is, doesn’t open until 7am.
- 4/5
It was surprisingly quiet and clean, only wish it had coffee and maybe light breakfast options available. At least coffee 😉
- 4/5
Pleasantly surprised by how updated the room was. Nice size and very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful.
- 2/5
Definitely people doing fentanyl in the parking lot. Room sink had small bugs coming out if the drain, like little gray gnats. Drain smelled horrible. Cigarette oder in the hallways. Only some of the room lights worked. No closet. I guess you get what you pay for.
- 4/5
Older but slightly remodeled in some aspects. On the lesser of expensive side.
- 4/5
Solid older hotel that’s been updated, and a fair price for the area.
- 5/5
The room was spotless, very clean. Not at all what I expected. I was so pleasantly surprised! I'm now recommending The Dunes to other friends and family that visit the area.
- 5/5
Nice rooms and friendly staff, very supportive and ease in check-in. Reasonably priced. No elevator but ice machine Available, you can get your cooler full with ice. You need to carry your own water bottles, water is not free(no water fountain) and they charge $1.5 for each bottle. Overall experience GOOD.
- 5/5
Nice quaint motel. Clean.
- 3/5
Floors looked like they haven’t been mopped in weeks. Usually I check windows and for some reason I didn’t this time. Next morning I opened blinds to look outside and realized the window was open about an inch and obviously not locked!! That made me very angry. It’s not in a super unsafe are but it’s not the safest. Homeless are around and I saw at least 5 walk through the parking lot. I won’t stay here again. If you can pick some where else do.
- 5/5
This is a basic motel but it checked all our boxes - comfortable bed, clean, nice staff, and amazing shower water pressure
- 2/5
Room was dirty and bed smelled of BO with non-fitted sheet tucked in as bottom sheet having stains on it. Mold growing on bathroom wall in room 120. Hallways smelled of smoke despite the no smoking and no pet policy. Staff was not too enthusiastic but got the job done.
- 4/5
The rooms are nice and clean.
- 4/5
Small, renovated rooms.
- 3/5
You get what you pay for which isn’t a bad thing. I probably won’t come back here but don’t let my comments stop you from staying here.
- 5/5
Like it here

Thanks

It was short

If you are looking for a nice, clean, updated motel that's centrally located while on a budget, this is the place for you. Floors are new, but not carpeted, new bathroom shower/tub inserts, with beautifully tiled floor (in the bathroom). I would definitely stay here again, but take in to account that because it's centrally located you will hear traffic.
- 5/5
The front desk was very friendly
- 4/5
I have been staying at the Dunes for 28 years. The motel is a good value for the price. Nothing fancy but nice rooms.
- 4/5
Very clean and updated rooms. Entry into the parking lot is tricky but not too bad. Very friendly staff and quiet rooms.
- 5/5
Buen lugar limpio para estar en familia
- 5/5
Updated cute rooms. Evening staff was very nice. No frills but did the trick.
- 4/5
This was a cute, well located place. The bathtub was especially nice; big and deep. The beds were firm, a good thing, in my opinion. The place was very clean, but could use some detail cleaning, like the caulk on the tub. My main complaint was it could use some floor coverings. The floors were cold. Carpet would be great. I didn't like being locked out of the lobby at 11pm.The stairs were dangerous, They need better handrails. All that said, this will be a go to when we need to stay in town.
- 3/5
Was affordable, clean, in good shape but not all that quiet (seemed thing walls, people slamming doors), best part was had a wakeup call I didn't ask for at 4:30am. Staff seemed disengaged /preoccupied.
- 5/5
clean-safe place to stay-
- 2/5
Basic hotel trying to clean it up but stil not up standards
- 4/5
We only had one towel. Other than that it was comfortable. We like the new blinds and the remodeling. Have stayed there whenever we're in Hillsboro. It's nearby some of our family, so works out well.
- 3/5
Owner should upgrade them.
- 5/5
The staff was fantastic.
- 4/5
Quiet, clean, friendly staff.
- 5/5
Very convenient location and very easy check-in and -out
- 3/5
The price of the room was much too high considering the location of the Motel, the age of the motel, and inconvenient location. The elderly woman with whote hair was very rude. On my second day, i came back from work to find out my key card no longer worked. I returned to the front desk, and explained that my key card wasnt working, and i couldn't get into my room. She responded, "Sometimes they do that. Sometimes it's our fault, sometimes it's not". I wasn't blaming anyone. I only mentioned it was not working. I won't be returning to this motel for future trips. And because of the rude woman st the desk, I won't be recommending it.
- 5/5
Room good staff good area poor
- 5/5
Great thanks!
- 2/5
Though we were checked in with efficiency and friendly service, the surrounding areas did not feel very safe, and there were very limited dining options. They were also issues with cleanliness within the room. For example, for whatever reason there were spots that were orange red in color on my sheets that either should’ve been bleached out or maybe that she should’ve just been thrown away. In addition, there were no towel racks in our room. What I mean by that is that there were towel racks, but they were definitely removed and never replaced. That made for drying towels rather difficult and overall the rooms are just kind of shabby
- 1/5
Bed very hard to sleep on. Traffic noise very loud. No restaurant as advertised on hotel.com
- 4/5
There is literally no Airbnbs in hillsboro, so this is really the only option for a one night stay on a budget. They put a fresh coat of paint on everything, but details like the light switches and even parts of the walls/carpeting is still old and not clean at all. Honestly, I couldn't even touch the light switches in my room because they were so dirty. It's little details like that which make you question about all the other stuff. Again, it seems they did try to throw some newer headboards and stuff in the rooms, but it's just a bandaid.
- 4/5
Very clean, satisfactory amenities, staff was friendly and helpful. Would stay again
- 3/5
The host were great , the room had no closet to hang cloths or iron , I called and asked if the room had a small safe and it did not , the location was convenient, but the area was scetchy , I wouldn’t walk around.
- 3/5
You could tell they were remodeling the place. Our curtain fell down when we tried to open it. The room was clean but the beds felt old and used. There was a hair on my sheets.
- 1/5
Motel was dirty and smelled. The room had an odor to it. The heater did not work. I was bit by bedbugs. Worst mistake I’ve made was staying at this motel.
- 5/5
Room was great for the price. It and the bathroom were clean and the air conditioner worked great. It was quiet during the night and that was nice.
- 5/5
The room was spacious
- 5/5
Friendly staff, easy check in, quiet place to sleep.
- 1/5
Honestly, it reminderef of Houses of illrepute I've grew up around.
- 3/5
They could work on their cleanliness.
- 4/5
Good safe and clean room. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
I'm a former regional flight attendant and appreciated the uncluttered, clean room.
- 3/5
Old hotel that they tried to remodel. you could tell they got a deal on the paint due to the wierd color and the tile loooked out of the 70's in the bathroom.
- 4/5
This is a basic hotel/motel, but for the price it does the job. It's very clean. The bed linens were nice enough. They are accommodating, as when the shower handle fell off, they had it fixed immediately. Maid should have let maintenance know it was very loose.
- 3/5
Staff was friendly. Air conditioning unit operated poorly. Needs remodeling.
- 4/5
good value. will stay there again.
- 4/5
Property is clean and staff is very helpful. Room was "no frills" (no carpet on floor, nothing on walls, minimal furniture), but well-maintained.
- 1/5
Awful rooms that smelled like cat piss Hotel falling apart. I would have rather stayed in Jeffrey Dahmer’s apartment.
- 5/5
It was better than the pictures..
- 5/5
No coffee in room or lobby. No place to hang clothes.
- 4/5
Quiet space for a quick overnight stay.
- 3/5
Nice rooms. The walls were dirty, mold in the shower and poor room air conditioner.
- 2/5
Hotel had a musty smell in the hallway and in our room. There is no ramp to enter the premises to make suitcase entry easy. Had to lift each suitcase up three stairs while trying to hold door open. Learned from a local resident that this hotel is used by the homeless when they get a voucher. It was also used by the city during the pandemic to house Covid positive homeless person’s.
- 5/5
Recently updated hotel rooms. Clean and comfortable.
- 4/5
Yes
- 5/5
The room is nicer, cleaner and more comfortable than lobby leads you to expect. Drawback is the noise from rooms and hallway. Walls are thin and people can be inconsiderate. For price, an ok room.
- 4/5
It was a clean, quiet room. However, because of what I believe was a rubber mattress pad, we could not stop sweating all night. Ended up sleeping on top of the covers with a blanket from my car.
- 3/5
Heating noisy
- 5/5
Clean, quiet, no-frills motel. "Budget" gets more expensive every year, but you won't find anything cheaper without major downsides. No breakfast because of Covid, but a great coffee shop right across the street. If all you need is a place to shower, sleep, and watch a little TV, Dunes Motel will be just fine.
- 2/5
Would not honor my reservation after my original stay. I had service dogs which they had a problem with.
- 3/5
It was close to where I needed to be, however the price per room wasn't stellar. No coffee pot in room and it was more 70's old furniture. For the price, there are much nicer hotels/motels around.
- 5/5
Nice and clean
- 4/5
Overall was very pleased with the place. Been updated somewhat with some older charm that worked well together.
- 3/5
But no coffee.
- 4/5
Clean bathroom and clean bed linens. The staff are very receptive when it comes to requests. The room is very clean
- 5/5
No frills but a nice room for what i needed. Staff was friendly & helped me out with an early check-in and receiving UPS for me.
- 3/5
The location and price fit well for me. It was bare bones. The clerk was very accommodating. The bed was comfortable.
- 5/5
No issues
- 2/5
Not was it was expected. Old, smelly like "curry" Manager not very friendly.
- 3/5
Could not enter through the lobby. Had to climb stairs to enter. Air unit dripped. Leak from tub dripped all night
- 3/5
Entry way had a weird smell all the time. Pillows were flat and too small. No coffee available. Some of the rooms had towels holding them open. Phone in the room but didn’t work.
- 3/5
Really nice place for the price.
- 4/5
The check in clerk was fast and friendly. The room was clean and quiet. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioner was great. For an older hotel I was very impressed. I would recommend staying here, especially since the price was reasonable and the comfort was an unexpected surprise.
- 1/5
They refunded my room but it was a pain after a 8 hour day driving to find a room at another hotel.
