The staff is nice and helpful, but the hotel itself is basic. I’m not sure why it’s so expensive.

The parking lot was small. Even though the hotel was set back from the main road, the loud cars which are popular to that area were very annoying. It was nice to see they had large luggage carts but they didn’t fit through the side doorway which was closest to the parking lot.

The breakfast has something for everyone: *hot bar: eggs (IMHO I'd skip those), sausage & biscuits, sausage links, hash browns, make your own pancakes, cinnamon rolls *oatmeal, cold cereal, hard boiled eggs, bagels, muffins, english muffins *juice, milk, Costa coffee, tea And more. The staff was very helpful and pleasant.

We liked the room and the property. My husband liked his pancakes and yogurt for breakfast. I liked the juice, eggs, and fruit, but found that both of the pastries on my plate were stale. My raisin toast was not stale, but after toasting, there was no soft center. Maybe it had dried out because it had first been put out the previous day.

The breakfast was mid. I had toast because nothing else really appealed to me. Not many muffins, sausage was spicy, etc.. I think a waffle iron would be better than the pancake conveyer belt.

The manager was great and so sweet. The hotel was great as we usually expect from a holiday inn express. The other lady who was there when we got there was pretty awful about everything and acted like we were such a bother. The manger though apologized and was super sweet about it.

The room was great. Hot water worked. Bed was comfortable. The night shift employee was rude. I didn't get in until after midnight, and the front door was locked. I called the front desk, and the employee came out of the office and answered the phone timely. Great. Then I said that I was standing outside the door but couldn't get in to check in. The employee then stated, "I have it locked," (obvious), "for a reason." I didn't ask for the attitude or the commentary. I just wanted to check in and go to sleep. I booked this hotel through Booking.com, and the listing did not mention that the front doors would be locked after a certain time. Breakfast had a good choice of food from hot eggs, bacon, sausage to cinnamon buns, cereal, yogurt and fruit and choice of juice. It was great to see coffee all day ! ! ! Parking not a problem. Not much to do in the area unless you want to shop. A good place for a short stay in the area.

The hotel itself is great. The staff is kind, and the rooms are clean. The breakfast offered great options. Unfortunately, the hotel is located behind a food service establishment with dumpsters that have either not been picked up or not been cleaned in a while, and the foul smell in the parking lot was just about unbearable.

We just stayed in a series of Holiday Inn Express hotels on a road trip, & this was by far the friendliest, most helpful and accommodating staff. The front desk staff were incredible, housekeeping kept our room so clean & welcoming, & the food was good!

Our room faced the street and cars raced and I mean raced all night long. A few rude guest but to fault of the establishment.

Last time I visited Hickory I stayed at the Hilton and this time I stayed at the holiday inn. I will always stay at Holiday inn going forward. We had the best stay! Convenient to all locations, easy check in and out, breakfast was free and very good. Room was way larger than the Hilton one we had. Very clean. Overall a great experience!

We looked at several hotels in the area, on line. We picked this one based on the rating and photos. It was on the middle to higher pricing range, so were expecting it to be as nice as the photos showed. It wasn't even close. Whoever took those photos is amazing, because the hotel didn't live up to the expectation based on the listing. Never going back.

Traveling through. The room was extremely large but it’s an old property with old furniture. Funny how it is right beside the Hickory furniture Market. Overall the stay was ok. Bed was lumpy. Bathroom outdated but the shower really had power.

Slept better there than in some of the pricier places we’ve booked this week. Reported that the coffee maker didn’t work, but the breakfast downstairs more than made up for it. The building design seems cramped and the elevator is small.

My room was clean, well decorated and roomy. The staff was professional and courteous. The common areas was well maintained. Breakfast was from 6 - 10 am. Each today a different menu to choose from. The first day they had cheese or herbal omelets, sausages, biscuits and gray, grits, oatmeal, coffee, orange juice, mango juice, bananas, apples, oranges and a choice of four different cold cereals and I'm sure I missed some things. The have a nice clean gym, laundromat and computer office. All in perfect cleanliness and working condition. I'm positive I've missed a few things.

Convenient to shopping and food

Torn shower curtain, no ice machine on the 3rd floor, no ventilation in the bathroom amd no receipt on checkout. Overall experience was average at best.

Overall the stay wasn’t bad. Check in was confusing as we were charged more than stated when we booked. When we asked the front desk one lady was very loud and dismissive about our concerns. After driving 12 hours, I was not in the mood to hear her excuses. The pullout bed was extremely uncomfortable. Wouldn’t even recommend it for kids. Not enough towels and washcloths. Was clean and the breakfast was pretty good. But I will say the price was a bit much for an area where there isn’t much to do.

The room was perfect for us. It was a large room with a couch. Both the bed and couch were comfortable. The free breakfast was good and there were a lot of options. The staff was friendly and professional. The hotel was in a great location and close to many restaurants. We will definitely stay here again.

Great location. Clean and around a lot of retail and food.

We chose to stay here because Holladay Inn is always consistent. The rooms are large which we needed having 2 young kids. The beds were comfortable. The condition of the room was great. Saw housekeeping and asked us if we needed anything extra. The continental breakfast was the seller lets be honest, especially with kids. Liked all the breakfast options daily. The coffee was great! I know that can be a big thing in the mornings. The staff at the desk and for the continental were very helpful and friendly. I honestly cant say anything negative about this visit!! They said the sister property would let us use the indoor pool if we wanted.

Visiting family and need a place to crash. Property is clean n comfy.

Great place to stay! Very quiet, convenient location, friendly staff, lots of breakfast items, comfortable bedding, and a Keurig in our room. Also liked the walk-in shower with Dove products. Will definitely stay here again.

Never have I stayed in a nicer hotel. Every single thing missing from all the places I have stayed in was in place here. Even a built in night light in the bathroom.
