Hotel is dated, but decent. Staff initially put me in a room occupied someone else, but were helpful in correcting the problem. Free breakfast would be a plus, but this hotel doesn't offer it.

Everything. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Had both dinner and breakfast onsite, the meals were great.

Breakfast was a delight with pleasant hospitality I forget his name but was wonderful and the staff accompanied me on short notice about adding my furry best friend lucky for us they had an outside room thanks

Th front desk receptionist, Ashley, was phenomenal!! She was kind, caring and quick! She made my stay wonderful! The property was well lit and seemed safe when walking at night with my pup. You had to use a key card to get into the building after hours which is always a plus for me. It makes it feel secure. My room door lock was loose and didn’t feel secure. The room I had seemed dated but clean and comfy.

Let me start off by saying they hotel looks a little sketchy. But don't let that fool you. Its actually a comfortable place to stay. It could benefit greatly from some updates. The bad: traffic outside is noisy until 11:00pm, the toilet is so low that it feels like you're sitting on the floor and the seat was very worn, my keys stopped working 2 times and had to be reset both times. The good: the beds are comfortable, staff is friendly, the building and rooms are clean, the breakfast is great and cooked to order, breakfast starts at 6:00 which is a big benefit if you have early appointments (volleyball, soccer, baseball tournaments), very convenient location for the metro center and restaurants. Overall, it was a good stay with the exception of the frustration of the keys not working. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

I'd like it if they decided to sell or renovate the facility. "Smelly, haunted 1980s swinger hotel/porn set" is an apt description. The reviews on google are insane: "complained about bed bugs and they put me in a new room with a man squatting and grunting outside my window." Just wow. The whole place is just creepy, old, smelly, stained carpet, noisy. Sketchy people outside, desk manager in pajamas with a neck tattoo. I could go on but I won't.

Everything was quite nice. Staff very helpful. The traffic outside our room was very loud, people racing across it until 3:00 a.m. was the only downfall. Motorcycles and loud muffled cars.

It was clean, comfortable, friendly staff, nice bed. The only bad thing was the road noise in the area, but I know they don't any control over that. A lot nice restaurant in the area. We will stay there next time go to visit.

The room didn't have cable tv it was analog but had a card of the channels that stated there was cable. You could hear everything that was going on outside. and most of the staff was rude.

We ate at the restaurant twice during our stay. Breakfast was very good and portions and delish. Both times we used them the food took a good while to come out but the servers were very nice.
- 4/5
Courteous Staff and Decent accommodations.
- 5/5
We stated there overnight while going to Tennessee. The room was clean , comfortable and the breakfast was delicious.
- 3/5
Staff, the day of the 24th when I we were waiting to be assisted with our check in, one o the staff ladies was being rude and loud in fron of the others costumer including myself. The other staff member was assisting a costumer while she was being rude because apparently she has to leave. In my opinion she should be hold accountable for this type of behavior specially in front of guests... very uncomfortable moment, the staff lady that assisted us (Kate) did apologize for the other person behavior and rude attitude.
- 0.5/5
The staff and facilities were very nice We had an outside facing room and it sounded like we were at a Grand Prix speedway. The noise never let up and we got absolutely no sleep.
- 5/5
Clean Nothing
- 4/5
Service was really good, room clean nice pool and workout area, overall we enjoyed it.
- 3/5
On a Friday night (when we stayed) we observed that many of the locals are in the habit of driving their souped up muscle cars and motorcycles to go “cruizin”. It’s very, very loud and made it literally impossible to go to sleep. The incessant noise continued until around 2am. The hotel is an aging property - but not a bad place to stay for the price. But it needs some serious upgrades in sound proofing. The nonstop noise is most obnoxious to people trying to sleep.
- 4/5
Overall a good stay. No issues. Just could use some updating. Only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5, just need a little TLC.
- 1/5
Entered Lobby and it took 35+ minutes to get checked in and I was the only customer in lobby. Next morning New Years morning feeling good and positive making my way to coffee in the Lobby the front desk agent Michelle was unpleasant and denied me and my kids the free breakfast we were told we would receive due to the extreme delayed check in. Rudeness and lack of courtesy!!
- 5/5
we had great stay and bar was a great dinner
- 5/5
Was delightful
- 5/5
Very nice clean hotel we are coming back in January
- 3/5
Everything was okay. Kind of smelled a little musty but overall a decent place to stay. We did enjoy the indoor pool.
- 3/5
The hotel needs done updating— bathroom fixtures, wallpaper, curtains, TVs. Check in was easy and location ideal. Just looks aged
- 2/5
my key had to reset 3 times.
- 1/5
The room was in much need of repair, the sink stopper would not allow the water to drain so had water standing in the sink for all of my stay, unless I dug my nails under it to let it trickle out...Carpet was stained in my room and in the hall. Curtains were off the hangers, and the pull rod was broken....Shower smelled of mold every time I showered. TV would not let me watch things that were on the Menu like Fox News.....Pillows were hard as rocks, no blanket for falling temperatures......Room Overall condition was Shabby, Worn and Dingy.
- 4/5
Room was nice check in was easy and reception was very nice
- 5/5
Room and hotel were very clean!! Very quiet. Great place to stay on the way to mountains!
- 1/5
Four vehicles got there windows broken. The hotel manager did nothing. The magager would not come speak all the customers that had there items stolen
- 2/5
The hotel was very noisey with dogs barking. Room keys expired well before checkout which was very annoying.
- 3/5
Very outdated and smells like cigarettes. Right behind our room there was an equipment room which produced very loud noise. Queen beds would be a better option instead of the twin beds.
- 5/5
Alll around good experience
- 4/5
Check in was sketchy. Clean rooms hard to get at 7pm seems odd. Very clean. Good location.
- 5/5
Excellent room. Very clean and spacious hotel. Beautiful common area and atrium. We stayed one night but will make this our Go To anytime we’re in the area.
- 4/5
It ok but need a little be of up date

- 4/5
It was cool
- 5/5
Greeted with a smile and sense of humour... a welcome thing at 11:30pm ..... nicely upkept older facility.
- 5/5
Outstanding all the way around
- 3/5
Biggest problem is the noise it is next to a busy road and you can hear the sound of running water throughout the night. There is also a sliding door in the room if you are facing the inside of the hotel lobby and the lights are of course always on and even with the light blocking curtains it still illuminates the room from the sides. The food is also meh definitely not really worth the price even if you decide not to get room service if you don't get a meal cupon the prices are not worth the quality you get. For the price and the amount of lost sleep (the whole point of a hotel) it's overall a meh experience and I definitely will be staying somewhere else if we come back to the area for our Honeymoon.

- 5/5
Clean quiet facility with safe environment with shopping!
- 5/5
Was a great stay! Clean, comfortable, nice. The breakfast is a bit overpriced for the food since it wasn’t fresh but it wasn’t terrible. Im sure if I went when it was first opened it would have been delicious. But, If im paying $15/pp the breakfast should be fresh for the entire time it is open.
- 5/5
This is a beautiful hotel rooms were very nice and very clean. Oddly, it is not that busy but it is very well maintained the pool was very nice. I think the new convention center took a lot of their business away, but this is still a very nice place to stay in Hickory.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay at your hotel. The room was clean and the staff interactions were very positive. The only criticism I have is that the ac and furnishings were dated. Overall our experience was good and will stay again when our travels take us to Hickory.
- 2/5
Rooms are exposed to the outdoors, so poor security. You hear all the traffic at the busy intersection. Lot's of dead bugs and sink flies.
- 3/5
Nearby traffic can be very loud, even at night through closed windows. We liked the location for visiting beech mountain one day and Asheville the next day. Room had a frig and coffee/tea maker.
- 5/5
This is a wonderful place to stay. Very clean, and comfortable. The only issue was it is very noisy but that's to be expected with the location. So many dining and shopping within walking or under 5 min drive! I do miss the sauna, but the pool and the gym are great!
- 5/5
The place was very clean. All the staff was helpful and nice. The pool was great. Definitely going to stay again.
- 3/5
Positives - their rooms are very spacious and comfortable, they offer a variety of channels on the TV, bathroom is nice, fully equipped with lotion, soap, body wash, shampoo & conditioner. Bathrooms are comfortable, & spacious, beds are comfortable, hotel is centrally located, daily housekeeping, which most other hotels seem to have gotten away from, staff was friendly, check in process was quick and easy. The on-site restaurant had a variety of options for breakfast and dinner.
- 5/5
Easy access from I40
- 5/5
Excellent service and beautiful old school decor! Great for weddings!
- 3/5
Very dated, room overlooked lobby...hallways had unpleasant odor
- 1/5
No food available. Loud traffic even after we were relocated to an inside room.
- 4/5
This facility is huge! We were only there for one night and the room was spacious, the bed comfortable and everything was very quiet.
- 4/5
The room was nice but the AC sounds like a semi truck very noisy other than that everything was great
- 1/5
Michelle. Isaiah from Expedia customer service said no refund plus penalty fee. Expedia heard entire story and was NO HELP. I.WOULD THINK AFTER 20PLUS YEARS USING EXPEDIA THEY WOULD HAVE HONORED MY MOTHERS REFUND. CROWN PLAZA HOTEL LOST ALL FUTURE GUESTS VISITING MULTIPLE TIMES A YEAR THAT HAVE STAYED THERE VISITING HICKORY. EXPEDIA WILL ALSO BE REPLACED WITH ANOTHER BOOKING APP.
- 5/5
The most helpful and pleasant staff I’ve ever dealt with.
- 5/5
It was a great experience… service and cleanliness on top
- 4/5
I was there for funeral. Although my room was clean, it was pretty dated.
- 1/5
Old run down and dirty property. Will never stay here again.
- 2/5
Everyone that works there are amazing! Super nice
- 2/5
ok but a little dated
- 3/5
The property is very outdated and it had a horrible smell (sewer) in the hallways.
- 4/5
The property was very nice and the room was clean. But our stay was on a friday night and the road noise was loud till 1am. Would probably stay there again but ask for a room on the backside away from the traffic.
- 3/5
The room smelled smelled of mildew and the foyer smelled like a ferret cage.
- 4/5
I needed and got a wheelchair accessible shower. Handicap rails really good. So far so good. The towels were on a rack above the toilet. The handheld shower head and flow switch well out of reach. Shampoo etc a high reach from the shower chair. Plastic shower chair was a bit tippy when I transferred back to the chair.
- 2/5
They spent on into the night riding the road. When we arrived in the large parking lot next to street in the parking lot over across from Five Guys Burgers. There in parking lot of Hotel were teens drinking and Loud about 8-10 teens I went to McDonals very close to Hotel about 9:30pm and the trucks and motorcycle riding back and forth was so loud i could barely here while ordering. i asked the girl at window was this a truck motorcycle club she said no it is like this every weekend. Surrounding fast food and restaurants close either 9 or 10pm. cops sitting in cars watching activities. I got back to Hotel. Mc donalds is less than a mile down road. 5 minutes. as i was getting out the group of teens drinking and loud was still there. Heard 3 very distinctive GUN SHOT sounds. I reported it when I got inside. Very close range. later I called office and they said police came and security however they claimed not gun shots and not anyone on property in parking lot. The shots were NOT backfire from trucks!!! The area Very Sketchy. Of course they are Not going to honest about it because of business. I finally fell asleep 3am from all the trucks and motorcycles riding by Hotel. The noise was at least til 3 am.
- 1/5
Apparently this is party hotel, steer clear if you looking to get actual rest.
- 1/5
I messed up and made the reservation for a night that I was not gonna be their my mistake When I tried to stay my other two nights they said they were booked up yet Expedia showed 6 rooms available so didn’t stay at all the counter person wasn’t very pleasant she said that Expedia overbooks them .
- 4/5
Me encantó todo lo recomiendo 100 por ciento gracias❤️
- 5/5
The lady who was the bartender while there was amazing and just so nice as well as the front desk ladies as well but the bartender left an impression and was just so wonderful Thank you for a great experience
- 4/5
Good place to stay for a night when in Hickory
- 4/5
I must be cheap i honestly expected more for 150 bucks. Dated room, old tv, microwave didnt work in outlet .
- 4/5
It is just a nice place to stay. I travel once a year to this location and have always stayed here.
- 1/5
Room wasn’t as advertised.
- 5/5
We booked with 4 people, but only 2 towels provided.
- 2/5
Needs a total refurbishing. Rooms are relatively clean but old and dated to say the least.
- 3/5
It was adequate for my needs. I had no outside window. My window looked out on the lobby so there was noise from the hall and the lobby.
- 5/5
Great place I will come back
- 5/5
Great place to stay. We stay here very often.
- 2/5
We went to get breakfast and they tried to charge us for it and then explained we needed vouchers. That should have been given to us at check in.
- 4/5
The room was clean and functional. The hotel and grounds were a little unmaintained. The food we had for breakfast was good and fresh but not a buffet as indicated and the wait time for food was a little long, but since there was only one staff member for intake and waiting tables it couldn't be helped.
- 3/5
Clean and quiet inside; however, the street noise was loud even from the second floor. Sounded like a street race all night.
- 1/5
I thought the rooms would have been as nice as the inside of the hotel but they weren’t it was just as good as a quality inn
- 2/5
Was charged more than was qouted. More than I have spent before. We have stayed here several times, will think twice on next booking.
- 3/5
Hotel is definitely older and in need of an update and revitalization. Staff was nice, beds were hard and very small.
- 5/5
We loved the pool and the yummy breakfast at the restaurant.
- 4/5
Check in and check out was fast and easy. Staff were friendly. The hotel and room needs to be undated.
- 3/5
Hotel was very old and needs to be remodeled. We had 2 rooms. In both rooms, bathroom likely to had mold, room door was creaky and wouldn’t open without a hard push & bathroom door showed moisture stains. Rooms smelled very musty. But beds were comfy and room was clean. I was not impressed.
- 2/5
So loud felt like there was no insulation.
- 5/5
Quick start but the hotel is beautiful with lots of room in the lobby for get together and meetings asking with a Bar
- 2/5
I have extended my stay for an extra 2 days, never-mind that they never changed any towels or cleaned the room during the first 2 days i stayed but they also haven’t touched the room after i extended, im very disappointed with the services i dont think ill ever com back to this hotel
- 4/5
It’s a very busy area. Lingerie shop nearby looks seedy.
- 5/5
Our room was nice. However, my in-laws stayed in an outside room and traffic was very noisy.
- 5/5
Anytime we come to hickory, we love staying at the Crown Plaza
- 1/5
Booked the room and there was another person in the room. The hotel wanted us to share the room. Ridiculous. They blamed hotels.com for the mix up, which we know isn’t the case. Horrible hotel. Never book here!
- 3/5
It’s a solid 2.5 hotel with good sized rooms.
- 2/5
From the lobby this place looks fine. However, my room was horrible. First, the decor was old and out-dated. Second, although the room was basically clean if you look closer it was not. Third, as I pulled up to my room (first floor, outside entry) someone was looking though the window which was very unsettling.
- 4/5
The decoration is vintage loved it
- 3/5
I have stayed here several times in the past, but had not been here since 2018 (have stayed here five times in all). This was the first time I was given an "outside" room facing the parking lot, and was overall disappointed with the condition that the room was in, compared to previous rooms. The wall paper is peeling off in several places in the bathroom, and the dressers all looked old and well-used. The bathroom was also extremely dark and reminded me of a dungeon. There is zero light in the shower itself, as what little light that is in the bathroom is directly over the toilet (I prefer a well-lit bathroom, particularly in the shower). Being an "outside" room, it was also extremely loud, and motorcycles and other loud vehicles were heard clearly in the room for the duration of the night. Although my experiences in the past were good, it appears as if the hotel has gone down hill in the last six years. I will not be staying here again.
- 2/5
Traffic noise was awful as well as late night/early morning old noise there was a dog in the next room that barked constant,
- 1/5
However we did have a couple of issues; the was mold in the room on the ceiling and down the wall. The room could use an update. The water pressure and temperature was great!
- 3/5
It's an older property and not in the best condition. Staff at the front desk seemed like they didn't want to be there. It seems like they might need a new key machine. The first set of keys didn't work and we had to get more made. One of the house keeping staff was quite welcoming and friendly but the rest of the staff were not. The pool was decent and the water temperature was great but there were not any towels in the pool area at all. The sauna appears to be not in use. Rooms show signs of age - stains on the bathroom ceiling and a small hole in the wall, etc.. Convenient location not far off the interstate. We came to town for Oktoberfest which was a lot of fun.
- 4/5
It was amazing... checkin and check out was easy. Clean rooms
- 2/5
The pool area was nice. When we first got our keys for the room they didn't work so I had to go and get new keys. Then when we opened the door it was an overwhelming smell of milddew so we called the front desk they had no kind of air freshener. The room cleaner manager gave us rug powder. Then we found bugs in the room and my wife was not happy. We got the room for 4 people my wife, me and our 2 kids we received 1 bath towel, I whent to the front desk they said they had no towels available until the next day at 9am. I whent to the front desk the next morning to report the sink in our room only had hot water and the cold water was shut off because it was leaking and to see if we could get some towels it was about 1030am and the front desk said they had no bath towels for guests. They did fix the water but the maintenance guy was overheard by my wife as saying that he told them about the water leak last week and he was the one that shut the cold water off. I am not impressed by this place and that's why we left a day early. The front desk personnel, the cleaning crew and the maintenance people are great but the owner must only care about profit and less about the property.
- 2/5
Out door entrance door to room. Ask d for inside room but got no response.
- 2/5
Check in was a breeze. Unfortunately the hotel lobby smelled of dirty gym socks & the corridor to the rooms smelled of bleach and body odor. Mildew in the bathroom and dirt in the corners. Wish the restaurant and/or bar was open after 8:00 pm.
- 4/5
It's a older hotel but really well kept.
- 5/5
Great stay!! Excellent staff !!
- 5/5
Suite upgrade made it really convenient and awesome breakfast every morning over had a blast will do this again only one hour from our house thanks to everyone 5star service
- 5/5
Familiar staff from frequent visits is a comfort. Food is awesome! The hotel has some age, but clean and comfortable
- 5/5
It was good
- 1/5
The lobby is very clean but thats where the cleanliness ends. The room smelled like straight up mold with mold on the baseboards. The carpet was wet and smelled like mildrew ground the AC unit. The doors were broken and there was a hole in the bathroom wall. The furniture looked like it was picked up from the side of the road. Was not safe for my 1 year old daughter to crawl around. We immediately checked out. The front desk manager said to expect my refund in a few days when expedia contacts them to confirm we didnt stay. Hopefully they stay true to their word. $133 is insane for the room. Go to the Best Western!
- 5/5
Sweetest people and nice room!
- 1/5
Dirty and smells
- 1/5
This is an outdated hotel with lots of exterior access rooms. The room had a bad small and the staff was very rude and unprofessional. We just couldn’t spend the night there. Do yourself a favor go past this hotel and find Fairfield Inn with clean nice smelling rooms, friendly staff for only a few dollars more; or any other hotel. We travel a lot and this was by far the worst experience!
- 1/5
Occupied. Honestly the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had.
- 5/5
Hotel was beautiful, can tell rooms need a little remodel, beds were clean and very comfortable. The only complaint is the old pipes I guess caused a stench in the bathroom. I’d still come back!
- 5/5
Ashley Nicole is a valuable asset to the company. She always makes sure we are taken care of and when an issue arose she went above and beyond to remedy it. The restaurant is a MUST for breakfast. The menu is great and the chef is incredible. Best is the server who greets us each morning, Mark. Mark is professional with an impressive attention to detail. His service is irreplaceable! We are travel nurses and have frequented many hotels so this review is given with the weight of many travel experiences. We would recommend the Crowne Plaza to anyone visiting Hickory.
- 3/5
The room smelled stale and the pool felt like bathwater, wasnt refreshing at all
- 1/5
skip This hotel. Book somewhere else.
- 4/5
By aware of lady working the breakfast buffet and the bar - we had purchased breakfast when we reserved the room and so were given breakfast passes which means we did not have to pay when we went to the buffet - right? NO the lady at the desk said we had to pay a $1.99 gratuity and we could charge to our room - when we checked out not only had she charged the $1.99 but also a “restaurant tip” of $8.98. Was she pocketing the excess? Then in the evening we went to the bar and she was working. Charged us more than the listed price and would only accept cash - again was she pocketing the excess? Think management should check this out.
- 5/5
We were a little early driving through town and I have young kids that didn’t want to wait for check-in. They had rooms available and were super nice about getting us checked in.
- 4/5
Clean rooms
- 3/5
Very large hotel but somewhat dated. There is only one elevator that was far from the front desk at the north end and far from our room at the south end. This required me to pull a fully loaded luggage cart quite a distance from the front entrance. The luggage carts are only by the front desk and one of them had a damaged tire that was not apparent until after I loaded it.
- 5/5
great please peaceful and room service was great.
- 1/5
They double-charged us and acted like they have no idea how hotels.com works. Still waiting on our money back.
- 4/5
Reasonable price.
- 2/5
Old need to be updated, staff was not friendly, changed a 250 deposit that was supposed to be returned in 3-5 business days it still hasn’t been return almost a month just not a good stay for the price

The staff were very nice and helpful. This was my first time staying in the area. They gave me landmarks to look for at turns when traveling to stores. Having the landmarks was a great help even when using GPS. We were having a meeting there. Everything was set up and ready in our meeting rooms when we arrived.
