We were literally there only 11 hours, but chose Hampton Inn South because we have stayed previously multiple times, as have some other family members, when we visit our Harrisonburg family, and the stays have always been very nice. Best value in the area as far as we are concerned. Always clean, staff is pleasant and professional. My only complaint would be running out of coffee during breakfast by 8:30, otherwise great as always.

Frequently your breakfast is tasteless (the eggs, meat and potatoes) and dry. Coffee is wonderful and it’s a good thing to have cereal, toast, bagels, fruit, yogurt.

We stopped here for a night on our way to the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee. The location is right off the interstate highway behind another hotel and next to a gas station. The hotel bed was comfortable, and has a nice gym and a pool. The breakfast was hot and ready at 6 AM, and we had a great stay. Overall, we recommend this hotel, and will come back again.

Probably one of the worst rooms I’ve ever slept in. I had to wait ten minutes at the front desk to check in. The bed was like sleeping on a sheet of plywood

The team that checked me in upon my arrival at 6:30pm were amazing. And I loved the fact that my dog was allowed in the hotel. The morning staff team, not friendly at all. Does not hurt to smile and be friendly to guests especially if your job is in the hotel industry.

Coffee seemed to have a bitter taste such as might be expected if the decanters needed to be cleaned out, or if it had been stored and heated for many hours. I tried the arabica and decaf but both had a similar taste. Would have appreciated some freshly scrambled eggs but there were only some omelets which seemed like they were mass produced and would be disappointing if purchased at a fast food restaurant. The facility is very well kept, the room was in top notch condition, the bed was excellent, things were very quiet overnight and overall it is a great facility with helpful staff. Breakfast needs improvement to be in line with the overall quality of the facility and helpfulness of the staff.

Staff was friendly, rooms clean. Breakfast was great. There was a power outage fir a few hours in the night. I was nervous due to having a child in a wheelchair and on the second floor. But power was back by morning.

Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Room was clean and breakfast selection was good. Very easy on and off the highway so perfect location to stop for the night. Would definitely stay again.

Our room was not vacuumed, there was a hair tie with someone’s hair on it, from the roots. On the carpet and the carpet itself was dirty. There was leftover hag eater sandwich in the fridge and they did not change the bedding on the pull out couch. To add to all that, thy are not transparent with the parking situation, you basically have to pay an extra 75 dollars for valet parking or you have to find somewhere to park.

Breakfast is included in the room rate. Plenty of options to choose from to fill your belly. Expedia neglected to notify the hotel of the change to my reservation. But the front desk staff took care of it in a pleasant and efficient manner. I recommend Hampton Inn to whomever is looking for clean and comfortable lodging.

Breakfast bagels in the fuel on the go bags were hard as a brick. The room was clean and the staff were friendly. Parking was fine no issues. The shower was great no issues with pressure or the water getting cold. My biggest suggestion would be to have a heated indoor pool. It’s nice having an indoor pool but it suck if it feels like an outdoor pool.

Only disappointment was breakfast. Buscuits were hard and gravy was cold. This was at 8 AM

The room was clean but a little outdated and there was gum stuck behind the headboard. The staff did go out the way to assist with getting my family breakfast since we missed the time frame.

We loved the hotel it was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great with a lot of selections. Our only complaint was the very low toilets. I thought because we were elderly, but then my 11 year old granddaughter came out of her room and said boy those toilets were low.

I booked and paid for 2 rooms depending on which room. I booked a king size bed but when I arrived they only had 2 queens. Needless to say I got into sn arguement with my husband over this so the trip kind of got ruined. The check in person was not very friendly about it either.

The rooms were good and clean. They advertise they offer cribs but at location they didn’t have any or so the front desk guy that checked us in said. Pool water could be warmer and the pool area cleaner. Also no microwave in the double queen room we were in.

The service at the front desk was friendly and upbeat. The room was clean enough. The fridge door was out of skew and that is probably why it was out of the cabinet it normally would have been in. The stand in the bathroom needed attention and was a little beat up looking. The bed was comfortable with choices of pillows to use. The breakfast was horrible. The eggs and the sausage were overcooked and a little rubbery and the potatoes did not really taste like potatoes. I did not say anything to the staff because what is done is done. Can't fix what I already experienced, and they should know better. The housekeeping staff needs to report things that need attention to be fixed and the breakfast staff needs to adhere to cooking guidelines, as well as better quality potatoes.

Both the inside & outside of the hotel was very clean. The only thing I didn’t like was that they didn’t come in & freshen up my room every day & take my dirty bath linens, and leave fresh ones.

Room was clean, plenty of linens and felt safe. Downfall was the bed…. I have stayed at many Hamptons which have plush beds….. this mattress felt like they got it for 100$….. Don’t recommend this hotel if you have back problems!

First room the shade was broken. Second room was nice but it never got serviced in almost a week. Had to get towels from the desk in the lobby, trash was removed once, and we put dirty towels and trash in the hall..Expected more from Hampton Inn!

The shower leaked from the ceiling. We advised the front desk they said they would notify maintenance to fix it before the next person. the towels were frayed at the ends. The hotel served the purpose for us to just sleep there. the beds were comfortable and clean.

Right off the highway easy to get to but further enough to be quieter, felt safe in the area. Reception and staff were accommodating and friendly. My cat also felt very happy and comfy there.

My major gripe was that there was no microwave in the room. REALLY??? Apparently, some rooms have them, and some don't. Also, the darkened curtains weren't flush against the window allowing too much light into the room. I had to sleep during the late afternoon, and it wasn't working to well for me. Also, the AC kept turning off.

However, the TV was small for a Hampton Inn and the channel selection was poor. Last, I needed to download a document and I didn’t have my laptop, so I went to the Business Center and there was nothing but a printer, nothing else just a single printer. The lady at the desk wasn’t helpful, so I went next door to Country Inn. They had a fully-equipped office center- and they were kind enough to let me use their computer. Everything worked out….no thanks to Hampton Inn. Hey Hampton in South, you should have a printer, scanner, and computers for your guest. There are moments, when you need a computer, not just your iPhone.

Stayed here while traveling home. We were just here to sleep, property was nice and close to interstate.

The kids absolutely LOVED the indoor pool! It was a bit too chilly for me, but they had a blast. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the linens were just as nice. I usually struggle to sleep away from home, but I actually got a great night’s rest! In the morning, we took advantage of the free breakfast; sausage gravy and biscuits, egg and cheese omelets, homemade waffles, cereal, oatmeal, muffins, breads, juice, and coffee. Everything was fresh and delicious. Check-out was quick and easy, and every employee we encountered was friendly and welcoming. If we’re ever in the area again, we would definitely stay here!

We were moving and just needed a place to stay and break up our driving so there was no nighttime driving.

The room felt damp. Manager said it was most likely because it was raining and humidity was high. The room was clean, just damp feeling. The indoor pool did not seem clean.

Front Desk and Breakfast Room staff were super friendly, polite, and helpful!

Breakfast was horrible; orange juice was just water flavored like oj, eggs runny, and barely enough bread. Had an accessible room, but light switch was far away from the bed, making it difficult to turn off, so had to get up to turn off. Need more handicap spaces in parking lot, taken up by hilton rewards members, shameful!

The hotel was definitely clean and the staff very friendly. Some upgrades are definitely needed. The carpet could be replaced and definitely the refrigerator. The refrigerator made a buzzing noise the whole weekend.

ENJOYABLE STAY

Conditions were a little shabby. Toilet ran during the night, the sink drain was very slow, the shampoo bottle was empty and sitting on the bathroom counter when we got there. We had to take it down to the front desk to get it filled because there was no staff available to assist with that, and we didn't have the key to mount it back on the wall in the shower where it belonged. Beds and breakfast were sufficient.

Terrible lack of internet.

The property was fine. My only concern is the lack of plug outlets in the room. We had three phones to charge and a CPAP machine and had to pull out furniture looking for an open plug.

Great place to stay, it was quiet and they had snacks to purchase. The only down fall for me was the availability of carts to bring your stuff up..

Checking out was a rude experience

Room was nice. Clean and comfortable. The only thing I needed was thicker and more solid pillows and a full bar of soap. I am not a body wash guy, lol.

Like all hotels in cities it was too busy around the hotel. Glad to be back in our little isolated community where it is dark at night and quiet during the day. Wish everyone could live like that.

Rooms are spacious and comfortable and staff was nice but I could not access the WiFi the entire time I was there which they kept telling me they were having problems with but could not help me with other accommodations. Also the treadmill was out of service which I was hoping to utilize during my stay and the weights were very dirty and there were no wipes offered in the gym to clean anything.

There was no problem with the hotel itself, but you have to go into downtown Harrisonburg for any decent restaurant or bar. If I had to do it again, I would stay closer to downtown....but to be clear, it's only 3 miles from the downtown, so it wasn't a major problem.....but if you're looking for places within easy walking distance, this aint it.

The hotel is dated. The pool was not useable as very cold.tge board on the wall showed pool hadn't been checked in a couple iif days.Internet is going to be updated eventually. Breakfast was great!

Friendly staff and easy access

Negative: Was not able to open the blind which made the room always dark. The bathroom sink had a big crack in it.

This was our 4th stay here on our way south to warmer climates. Always clean and comfortable. Hot breakfast is a good feature. We usually try to stay at Hampton Inns when we travel.

The room was quiet, clean, had free shampoo conditioner and body wash.

My only complaint was that the door is extremely heavy. It was a handicapped room and no one who was alone in a wheelchair would be able to open the door without assistance. Also the curtains were askew and unable to be opened. I was told that they were “waiting for a part” and to allow the time to have that happen.

Stayed for one night. Had a designated area for our pup. It was quiet,clean and comfortable.

Great stop on a longer trip- the front desk clerk, Christian, was particularly helpful. Poor guy had to wield a plunger for us and recommended dining options with an equally cheerful and polite attitude. He seems to really enjoy his job. Handicap room was outfitted with the usual amenities and fully met our needs.
