Reviews
The hotel is generally clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. The location is convenient for visiting nearby attractions. However, some guests have reported issues with housekeeping, outdated decor, and lack of hot water. The breakfast has mixed reviews, with some guests praising the selection and others finding it subpar.
- Cleanliness
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Issues with housekeeping
- Outdated decor and lack of hot water

of old and looking it’s age. Pictures made it look better, so I was a little disappointed. Also picked this property because it had a restaurant - but restaurant was closed for the weekend. So, all in all, I would give 3 stars.
- 2/5
Poorly maintained property. Staff was nice but this place needs maintenance.
- 4/5
I had a very pleasant day clarion inn—-it is within walking distance 9f River Riders, also known as Snow Riders in the winter it took me five minutes to walk there to their headquarters. They offer a good breakfast not elaborate but sufficient several choices you could make your own waffles, but I was disappointed that they’re beautiful pool is not functional because the heater needs to be fixed or replaced after a long day of hiking or kayaking. We’re exploring. I wish I could use their beautiful pool otherwise it was excellent.
- 4/5
Great place to stay. Quiet and clean.
- 2/5
The hotel has a great setting for a traveler with a pet. There is a lawn in front and behind the building to walk a dog. Everything else is just awful. A toilet bowl with rusted spots, a dump floor, barely working wi-fi, broken safe, broken locks at the entries of the building… whoa, it is a shame to run such a poorly maintained facility for &100 +l
- 3/5
I was on the 1st floor, which you have to take the elevator down to it. My WiFi did not work down there and they tried to blame it on my phone, apparently my husband’s phone must be bad too. There is a trail behind the hotel and ppl were walking by our window often. That would have been ok but our window did not lock so I was afraid to sleep. The breakfast was delicious and fresh, however they did not have coffee ready and they told me to go into the lobby get some.
- 5/5
It was great
- 5/5
The location.
- 3/5
The exterior needs maintenance (weeds in gardens, building damage, dirty windows, just overall uncared for) The “heated” pool was as cold as a mountain spring. The breakfast that was provided was acceptable, but did not include fresh fruit as shown in the online photos. As a celiac, I looked for fresh fruit and yogurt in containers so that I could eat. The gentleman setting up breakfast was very nice.
- 5/5
Hotel was slightly run down, but they’re working on it. Tub wouldn’t hold water for a bath, but it was no big deal. The breakfast was awesome, the staff were super friendly. We didn’t get a chance to swim, but the pool area looked super inviting as well. We’d stay there again, and I’d have no problem recommending someone to do the same. The restaurant attached to it is pretty good too.
- 3/5
The hotel is about 10 minutes from the main Harper’s ferry attraction and brewery. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Downside to the hotel- it doesn’t look like it was well maintained! There were numerous spiders in the room, we didn’t have hot water when we showed late at night. Overall, the hotel is just mid and could be better maintained
- 4/5
Everything was good. Very good staff
- 3/5
Note to all: Everything closes very early. Hotel isn’t really bad, however the
- 5/5
Great location and nice comfy room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Solid breakfast.
- 5/5
Breakfast room was large and bright and very clean. Breakfast materials were more than adequate. The free EV charger was an unexpected bonus.
- 3/5
The breakfast floor was sticky to walk on. There were only two towels in a two queen bed room. The noise level was pretty extreme all around the first floor till about 1am. The coffee area in the lobby was scarce in supplies and the water was tepid. There was one gentleman checking 5 guests in which took some time. There is only milk in the am to use as creamer for coffee in the breakfast area. The showerhead in the bathroom was loose and needed a good cleaning. The sink area crevices needed a good cleaning. The staff were pleasant. The beds appeared to be clean the carpets appeared cleaned. The lobby was neat. The tavern connected to the hotel was pleasant. The wifi worked.
- 5/5
Great staff! Super accomodating when we had plans change and needed to adjust the rooms.
- 2.5/5
Great location. Checked in 1/2 hour early. Lots of little things that made it feel like the hotel needs some TLC. Faucet loose Dark room Toilet stained Shower stained Breakfast was hit or miss. Pool was ICE cold.
- 3/5
Clarion Inn is more like a motel, than a hotel. It is decent, basically clean and that is about it. Breakfast is good. If you stay with a pet, there is a $50 fee and you won't be staying in the main hotel building. It looks way better in photos.
- 5/5
I always stay here when I’m in the area, never had any problems.
- 4/5
Restaurant has great food
- 3.5/5
Hallways were dark, and the room could have used a deep clean. Shower head was corroded with scales. The shower made a loud squealing noise when hot water was being used. The pool area was nice, but the water temperature was too chilly.
- 3.5/5
The bathroom is very small. And, breakfast options are fair.
- 1/5
Had to switch rooms everyday due to no water, and then no electricity. Three night stay, 3 different rooms. Was offered no type of discount for the inconvenience.
- 5/5
Yes
- 4/5
The rooms were clean the kids loved the pool. They were remodeling the kitchen so menu was limited in their restaurant but the staff were very accommodating we had a large party of 8. The bar there was a nice place to unwind and visit with the other patrons and the bar tender was so nice and she knows how to make the drinks we requested. My husband said he had the best old fashions ever! Breakfast was okay, we filled our bellies before getting good directions from staff on how to get back on the road
- 2/5
Stairs were filthy. Curtains were hanging off the window. Only redeeming qualities were a clean bed and bathroom.
- 5/5
Beautiful views close to activities and noce staff. Hotel was clean but out dated. We did get an upgrade so that was nice. Bar attached had amazing food!
- 5/5
Location and quaintness Nothing
- 4/5
Place was fine but in desperate need of maintenance
- 5/5
Nothing
- 3.5/5
Property is old but it was clean. The level they put is on was like a basement which felt weird.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff!
- 1/5
Checked in at 8:00pm - after walking my dog I took a shower only to find bugs in the drain by my feet! And there was NO HOT water Mortified- I got dressed and went to the available restaurant that stopped serving food at 9:00 on Friday night- however at 9:35 they did allow me and my guest to have a drink at the bar while they closed down. At 9:55 am ish the man from the front desk said my dog was barking so loud it was echoing down the hall way- I immediately apologized and went straight to my room which was at the end of a very long hallway. I didn’t hear a thing approaching my room- my dog was just chilling- I sat on the bed and a cockroach ran across my had- I grabbed my belongings and my dog to leave- I put my dog in the car- no one to be found anywhere- starving and exhausted- I had no other choice but to leave- I asked for a refund but apparently my dog barking for 5 minutes is a reason to deny this- also I was not even there for 3 hours-
- 4/5
Staff solved a problem with the room quickly and cheerfully
- 1/5
Let me start with this , the hotel is not anywhere near as nice as the pictures online. I stayed in room 1105 the bath was broken, the actual floor of the tub was patched, caulk everywhere haha. The bathroom sink had a crack in it, The room smelled. The light switch covers were broken, the electrical outlets were so worn out you couldn’t plug into them . The chrome luggage holder was extremely rusty and nasty,There was a power strip laying on the floor with everything plugged into it, Hair on the bathroom floor, carpet was sticky , the vent in the bathroom had been replaced but was cobbled up there with a big gap around it, the frame of the bathroom door was rusted clear through. We checked out early for our 2 night stay and were told we couldn’t be refunded because of a 72 hour cancellation policy. I have pictures of all of this. They will be posted if I’m not contacted and refunded in 72 hours . Clarion do better
- 3/5
The room was clean. Parts of the hotel were in disarray. Maybe construction or moving going on? The pub was already closed at 10 p.m., which was a disappointment. Staff was OK, but not overly friendly.
- 3/5
I liked the location and that there was a restaurant attached. Front desk staff was nice. Our first rooms fridge was broken and needed for my infants milk, we were moved to another room quickly. Indoor pool was "open" but had to go down through filth and construction to get there. The water was ice cold, my kids couldn't even get in. The pool was why I chose this place to stay, so disappointed.
- 3/5
Close to attractions My room smelled musty, like the carpet had been wet. I mentioned it at checkout. When I went out to my car, I saw there was a pile of trash in the middle of the parking lot, including padding for under carpet…. Also, I went get breakfast an hour before it is supposed to close and there was literally nothing to eat, except waffles if I made one myself. They were out of eggs, potatoes, pastries… Literally everything was empty. The shower would not stay regulated. It was flipping back-and-forth between cold and dangerously hot. All in all this night’s day was not worth $178, the pool was ice cold and couldn’t be used comfortably or at all.
- 5/5
Straight forward, great staff, clean room, fantastic bed . . . Happy
- 3/5
- the decaf and hot water at the breakfast set up were not hot - in fact I suspect the decaf coffee was stored overnight in the fridge - it wasn’t room temp -it was ice cold. The main restaurant was very slow - there was one other table when we arrived and it took 20 minutes for the food to arrive. The waitress said there was only 1 cook - I was a professional chef -I’ve served over 180 people in one dinner shift by myself
- 4/5
The hallway to our room always smelled like smoke. The breakfast was lacking (no eggs) and the placement of things like napkins and flatware were not in spots that made sense for the flow of the "buffet". Otherwise it was a pleasant stay.
- 5/5
One thing to be mindful of is the parking—I experienced my car’s alarm going off unexpectedly, though I’m not sure what caused it. On the positive side, the breakfast is excellent, offering a wide variety of options. Overall, it was a good experience and a solid choice for the price.
- 2/5
The property needs updating and cleaning.
- 3/5
Staff was very friendly, close to everything we wanted to see and do, price was great. Sunset view is beautiful. Door latch for room door was missing, safe was locked so we couldn't use it, soap dish wasn't clean, tv had something on screen, dead bug by window, shower valve was very noisy, pool was closed. Hopefully the remodel going on improves the quality. Online info for the hotel and attached restaurant didn't match actual times or menu. Small burn hole on the cover on the bed. Time wasn't set on clock, lamp wasn't plugged in.
- 5/5
Amazing experience
- 4/5
Very nice staff and clean room. The coffee in the room and at breakfast left something to be desired, but all in all, a decent stay.
- 3/5
Since I have a dog I was placed in another building and because of the condition of the rooms I felt that I paid more than I shouldn’t have.
- 4/5
Location. Right next to Harpers Ferry National Park. Pool water was freezing.
- 4/5
Everything you could need as far as the room. Also a very convenient restaurant attached to the hotel. Only wish is that the containers for shampoo and conditioner were easier to use and that the tiles in the bathroom weren't so slippery when wet!
- 3/5
Staff was very nice. Hotel was being renovated with rugs being laid right outside of our room. The free “breakfast” was awful. No hot food was hot. Coffee and tea were luke warm. The selection was minimal ie one muffin type, plain bagel, cold scrambled eggs.
- 4/5
We were in the last building so a little far away from breakfast.
- 3/5
Reasonable price. Breakfast had decent variety of items- included in price of room. Nice people. Short drive to Harpers Ferry. Property seems to be undergoing renovation. Lots of areas are very worn and in need of repair. Pool not working. Floor in dining area was sticky.
- 5/5
Clean room
- 5/5
The breakfast was good. The property was clean and the staff went above and beyond.
- 4/5
We had a clean and spacious room. It was quiet since the hotel is in an isolated rural area, so we were glad to have a good, restful night. The breakfast room was cavernous, and we were disappointed with the food selection: no scrambled eggs, no yogurt, and burnt sausages.
- 4/5
Mold in many of the rooms. Hopeful that the remodel refreshes all buildings.
- 3/5
Good location, friendly staff. The beds were lacking it was very chilly and there weren’t extra blankets.
- 4/5
The people working here were really kind!
- 2/5
Cleaniness was subpar
- 4/5
On first glance it seems like it is going to be old and in disrepair. It has been very well maintained and it was very clean. The bedding was impressive for the cost. I was pleasantly surprised. The breakfast was decent and better than a Marriott I stayed at the bought before.
- 5/5
.
- 3.5/5
The pool is closed and this is not advertised at all until you get there. The indoor pool is literally the first picture you see on all of the websites and nothing saying its "seasonal". An indoor pool should be open year round. Also the only ice machine that works is on the bottom floor.
- 5/5
Free breakfast was one of the big allures for this spot, since my wife and I did not want to have to eat out in the morning. Not a tremendous variety of choices, but what they had was decent. Staff was friendly, and our room was spotless. Overall I would recommend as a high quality lodging, particularly considering their low price
- 2/5
Main property appeared clean and well kept. We were housed in building two which smelled in the hallways and very much so in our room: musty, dank and like wet dog. We left after the first night.
- 5/5
Yes, excellent service
- 4/5
Recently stayed at this location, I would rate as good for its location to the town and the park where you can catch a bus into town, the breakfast was ok not the best, staff was friendly. the room nice some cosmetic issues but clean, was disappointed the pool was closed and wasn't noticed prior to booking my stay since one of the reasons i booked that hotel was the indoor pool. Other than that I enjoyed my stay. If I decided to come back to that location good chance I'll book this hotel as long its all functional.
- 5/5
Spotless room awesome breakfast bar and every one was very friendly and helpful.
- 2/5
The heat didn’t seem to be working in the lobby or the restaurant. The office had propane tanks hooked up to propane heaters just to warm them up. The breakfast yogurt was EXPIRED, orange juice was warm. The waffle batter (after cooked) tasted like it was old from days before!
- 4/5
The property and room show signs of deferred maintenance. The staff was very friendly but stretched a bit thin. Breakfast was ok, however we went out for breakfast the remaining days after finding frozen rolls and foul-tasting OJ the first morning. It was nice to have a comfortable, safe place to stay right next to Harpers Ferry.
- 4/5
Breakfast okay. Workout area sub par.
- 4/5
Overall, this hotel was clean, quiet, a good option to explore Harper's Ferry.
- 3/5
The hotel is run down and a bit dirty. The breakfast could use some healthier options. The entrance is a bit dangerous.
- 5/5
The White Horse Tavern was excellent!
- 1/5
The place is dirty and run down.
- 4/5
Very clean! Great breakfast and very nice staff! Only thing was disappointing that the pool was out of order and the elevator got stuck. So hopefully they resolve these issues, but I would stay again!
- 5/5
Although the hotel isn’t the most up to date, it was a VERY comfortable stay and every single person we came in contact with was extremely helpful and kind. The front desk staff was in the middle of eating and without hesitation stopped to assist. House keeping brought extra laundry bags to our room within minutes. Breakfast was amazing! The woman making the breakfast and assisting everyone was working her butt off and had a smile on doing it. Very pleased with this place and will be coming back in the future!
- 1/5
The property is falling apart. Toilet in room kept clogging.
- 3/5
The room was ok, we only needed to sleep there one night. The ajoining resturant was excellent in food and entertainment! Breakfast was awful! We've been
- 1/5
We were given another room. It did not have the problems of the previous room, but there were brown water stains in both toilets and heavily deodorized in a way that felt it was to mask odors. The staff were nice, but the facilities were horrible.
- 5/5
My daughter and I planned a trip for snow tubing and chose to stay here. It was wonderful. They have a tavern in hotel where we had dinner. Marcia our waitress was fantastic. The room was very clean and beds super comfortable. If you are going to Harpers Ferry or tubing this is where to stay. Great time
- 5/5
The most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. Clean rooms. The staff was terrific, very friendly. I will definitely stay there again.
- 5/5
Room was clean, nice view to the nature, staff was great.
- 4/5
My only issue was that we could not get into our room initially but they quickly switched rooms ( non functioning lock). The shower head is broken. When I went down at 8 all coffee containers were empty which was a bummer. But the beds were comfortable, we liked the restaurant and the staff was nice
- 4/5
The breakfast was too simple but that’s ok. It was just cold in that room.
- 4/5
Room was clean but there was mold on the privacy curtains which was never addressed despite conversation with front desk. Very dog freindly and would give it a second chance.
- 5/5
No breakfast
- 4/5
Staff very courteous, room clean & warm, good hot breakfast. Nice Christmas decor in lobby! 🎄😊
- 5/5
Rooms were clean, staffs were friendly and the breakfast was good.
- 4/5
Nice stay as always. Clean room and nice staff!
- 2/5
Convenient location but not worth the safety concerns. We were awoken at 1am to guests yelling in the hallway and lobby, this went on for at least an hour even after the police came. Police were questioning a guest in a room next to us while the screaming drama continued. After a day of travel this impacted our sleep and following day travel. Whatever was happening the screaming lady should have been removed quickly to address her issue and not impact all the guests in the hallway. Mold from a repaired leak in the bathroom ceiling showed the quality of work and the hallway needs some serious attention. Front staff didn't even acknowledge the drama grom the night on checkout. Would not recommend.
- 5/5
Very nice people in the front desk
- 4/5
Good location, nice staff, convenient location
- 5/5
Nice place to stay for a night while traveling. A little dated, but clean and comfortable. Appreciated the restaurant on site.
- 4/5
The room was very clean. The staff was all helpful and friendly
- 5/5
Clean. Good lication.
- 4/5
Room was very clean and in great condition. Beds were comfortable . Staff was helpful.
- 5/5
Nice convenient hotel. Clean.
- 3/5
Room was sufficent. Slight smell of ??? what? difficult to say. A combo of a 70s hotel that allowed smoking, the constant humidity of an indoor pool outside your second door? Staff was friendly. Place was large, warn-out, but adequate. Halls smelled like a wet dog. Very large breakfast area. Breakfast was typical budget grade offerings, but "OK". No hot coco for breakfast was an odd deletion.
- 5/5
The room was spacious and clean and it had a comfortable chair. That’s actually a huge + for me. The front desk was friendly. Breakfast was very good, and the young lady who handled breakfast was a Star!!! She either deserves a raise or a helper. She handled everything to keep a large crowd happy like a champ.
- 3/5
Overall the stay was good but the room smelled very musty
- 4/5
Everything was great except for the mattress that was very uncomfortable. The doors are heavy as well so when someone closes it you can hear it in your room. Could use paint on the doors.
- 4/5
It was standard
- 5/5
👍
- 4/5
The hotel was nice, great location. A bit worn down, carpets pretty stained. Staff was nice, but there was no ice machines working, they said that they are working on getting them fixed, but we had no ice....would stay again if in the area.
- 5/5
Would recommend

Room great hotel good with a good restaurant connected , close to Harper’s ferry visitor center good one stay to visit Harper’s ferry , a great historic site
- 1/5
They also claimed that housekeeping was available upon request, so we asked for fresh towels and room service. No one ever came. We spent three days with overflowing trash, wet towels we had to replace ourselves, and even toilet paper we had to find on our own. The staff was polite, but clearly understaffed; there was only one person for all the rooms. Breakfast was also a disappointment. On the second day we arrived in the middle of breakfast hours and most items were gone—no juice, no protein, only apples and bread. After 30 minutes they restocked eggs and sausage, but by then we had already finished a very poor breakfast. Several items available the first day, like muffins, were not restocked at all. The beds were comfortable, but the room was not very clean. The carpet looked dirty, the bathroom was basic and had dead insects on the floor, and the water pressure was very weak. The shower took a long time to heat up. For the price we paid, this stay was absolutely not worth it in terms of quality and service. There are beautiful cabins nearby for half the price.
- 4/5
Clean comfortable and friendly
- 4/5
overall. my family and I had a great experience. we would stay here again. thank you for all your hard work to make our experience great.
- 5/5
Clean room and staff is ready to help
- 2/5
Place needs a hug.
- 5/5
Great location, lots of options
- 1/5
The hotel in general was not clean. From the outside the windows and outside were so dirty that we thought the hotel was closed. At breakfast the regular coffee and both juices were empty. No one came to refill anything while we were there. The choices were very limited. The elevator was filthy and the windows in the breakfast room were dirty. Some slats in the blinds were open and some were closed. It looked like an abandoned hotel.
- 3/5
Average budget hotel.
- 5/5
Great hotel. 70's decor could use some updating but it was clean. Great location to get to Harpers Ferry National Park. Very reasonable. Would recommend.
- 2/5
Our sink faucett dripped for three days although we reported it the 1st night. No hot food for breakfast, because attached restaurant was closed (bugs?)
- 4/5
It was close to family
- 4/5
The hotel was nice and clean, if not a bit outdated. Our room heating was not working properly so we were moved to another room. The staff was very helpful and tried to make things right. They did. I would recommend this establishment as a place to stay.
- 5/5
Great staff. Great location. Great restaurant
- 3/5
Our room was on the lowest level, below the lobby level, and had a musty kind of odor. The toilet ran constantly.
- 4/5
Good place to stay. Only disappointment was the restaurant was closed for cleaning on October 8-9 during our stay. I wish the website had mentioned this.
- 4/5
Service fine. Well placed outside Harper’s Ferry park.
- 4/5
Room was clean and comfortable and we felt very safe there. The ice machine on our floor was out of service, but that was not a big deal. I would stay here again. A comfortable accommodation at a reasonable price.
- 4/5
Pet friendly, room was clean, and offered breakfast. It was very close to Lower Town Harper's Ferry or the Visitor Center.
- 3/5
Front desk staff not at desk. Waited 10 minutes for someone to show up to check in. Breakfast was minimal, bacon so thin you could see through it and it had no taste. Hallway carpet was old the whole place smelled musty. Based on other reviews I expected better. The room itself was "not bad" but the overall condition of the hotel is below average.
- 2/5
The hotel had good reviews & that's why we booked it online but we were dismayed to arrive and find that the hotel overall was dingy. Broken furniture in our room. Dripping water in sink. Toilet did not flush well. Hallway was very dingy. Beds were okay, linens clean, but hotel was overall rundown. Restaurant was closed for repairs and "free" breakfast was basically toast, cereal, yogurt. Expected more for price. Disappointing. Will not stay at a Clarion again.
- 5/5
Room was great-parking was always easy and conv. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. This was my 3rd time staying here and was again a wonderful experience.
- 3/5
No hot breakfast
- 4/5
The room was clean and neat. The front desk staff was pleasant and friendly. I ate in the restaurant for dinner; the waitress who was new got me the wrong order. the breakfast bar and offerings were pretty unappealing. It looked like there was no staff to fun it and the food was minimal. The room itself was sunny and pleasant.
- 2/5
Poor breakfast facility and food.
- 4/5
A good, clean, comfortable stay
- 5/5
way better than we expected in all areas. great service , very clean , very nice attached restaurant
- 3/5
Toilet barely worked and fridge was broken. Luckily we were only staying one night. Room wasn’t ready when we got there either.
- 4/5
La carpetas están viejas y poco sucias
- 3/5
The dog policy online says two dogs under 70lbs but in person we were told one dog under 25lbs. I also booked a king and was put in a room that seemed to be two fulls. I’m not sure if that’s all they had for the dog rooms but no one told me this. We also found underwear in the bathroom when we checked in. Other than these things, it was nicely located, had decent breakfast, felt safe and quiet.
- 4/5
This place had ample parking and our room was very clean and confortable.
- 4/5
Staff was amazing. The whole building needs to be renovated
- 5/5
Very good
- 2/5
Strong odour of smoke. Separate buildings with rooms. Building 3 does not have a secure locking door to building (looks like it’s been smashed off) and is at the far end of the property. Two females travelling and no one else in building and didn’t feel safe. Main building is a bit better and bed was clean, but still musty smell and older amenities/carpet. Staff were quick to help as best as they could and really great. No complaints on staff!
- 3/5
Breakfast disappointing. Staff very friendly. Need updates.
- 3/5
The gym was closed during my stay and the indoor pool was unheated/freezing. Other then those two things, it was a nice stay.
- 5/5
The close proximity to harpers ferry
- 4/5
The bathroom rack was always coming apart, didnt support towels, and no safety bar in shower. Outside smokers near the room ventilation brought that smell into room.
- 4/5
We wanted to visit Harpers Ferry National Park, it is very close to the hotel. Breakfast was good, room was clean, and it was quiet. Location was perfect
- 3/5
Our room: hallway to room, across from hotel laundry btw, has cigarette smoke emanating into hallway. The hot water never rose above lukewarm and the tile floors were greasy (slipped each time),carpet was dirty (per my socks after walking on them). The mattress and pillows were comfortable for a one night stay, which is all we did. It’s super close to harper’s ferry (which is why we chose it) and other food/stores. The restaurant at the hotel was closed during our stay. All in all it’s sad to see, what seemed like a nice hotel at one time, decay due to lack of maintenance and care. It served our one night stay but would have chosen elsewhere if we were to stay longer.
- 5/5
Great. Stay
- 5/5
Could tell it was old and plaster on the wall near the !ight. Not many towels or wash cloths. No wi-fi.
- 2/5
The hallways were dingy, the shower barely worked.
- 2/5
Run down and dirty. 7 am breakfast came out at 07:35. Bathroom door was rotten and had mold on it. Room and hallway smelled bad and there were air fresheners in the hallway to cover it. Just not very well. Restaurant was good. Staff were nice.
- 3/5
We liked it was close to everything. What we didn't like was it needs alot of repairs, all the ice machines we broke. It could be a beautiful place with alot of updating.
- 5/5
Area, parking, nice people.

We were in the lower floor and it was creepy. The room and bath were clean. The tv was outdated.
- 3/5
The appearance in the photos was not realistic to the room selection. This is a safe property that is seemingly on the way to being improved and updated. The staff is very friendly.
- 4/5
They really need to clean the carpet
- 4/5
I’ve always enjoyed my stays at this property but this stay was just ok. When we arrived they told us the room wasn’t ready and that they could upgrade us to a suite free of charge but they didn’t mention it was on the last building at the back of the property. The room was clean, but the building isn’t as well kept as the main one, the entrance is hidden and feels unsafe. We didn’t want to go out at night. We also didn’t appreciate having to drive to the main building for breakfast (or having to walk all that). At least it was quiet and we slept well. Beds were comfortable as well.
- 4/5
The rooms and beds were comfortable. The location is good. The hotel could use some new carpets. The breakfast is pretty good.
- 1/5
Rooms needed to be redone. Cieling was repaired and never finished. Part of it was chipping off. Out dated TV. Continental breakfast area floor was sticky every morning.
- 4/5
It was a good stay. We ate. In the hotel resturant. Slow service. We were seated in the extra room. We had to go up to the host stand three times as our waitress was not around.
- 4/5
Everyone at breakfast (especially Dee)& the front desk were wonderful. We did have an issue when we asked our room to be cleaned--they cleaned but didn't leave extra amenities--toilet paper, wash cloths. Ice machine was broken on our floor so had to get ice from the adjoining tavern. Did love the tavern! We would go back & the rates were reasonable. Just think things need to be a little more upgraded & broken things fixed.

Carpet in hallways needs attention. Very good personnel and breakfast.
- 1/5
dark damp hallways, very stained rugs and the pool was filthy.
- 5/5
Really good place
- 4/5
Best part of the hotel was the convenience! Walking distance to River Riders and a short drive to the park or into town. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Older hotel which was completely fine with the reasonable price. Only disappointing part was cleanliness. Room was fine. More direction on getting trash and used towels taken care of would have been great. Pool and pool area definitely needs a good cleaning!
- 3/5
Location was convenient and the staff was polite. However, hallways were dingy and had a general air of being unkempt, for example; debris from renovations was not vacuumed for the 4 days of our stay. While we said to not change our linens to save water, our garbage cans were not emptied either, nor were fresh water cups provided. Unusual for this choice at other hotel chains.
- 3/5
The staff were wonderful! I didn’t complain about the issues.
- 4/5
Great location close to HVNHP
- 1/5
The hotel was outdated. Could of been cleaner. The continental breakfast was bare minimum which was ok just nothing good. The pool was extremely dirty. Then we found out that the pool was broken. The guy at the desk said it just needed to be cleaned and would open on time, later we found out if had been closed for days. We paid for a clean hotel with working indoor pool and was disappointed with our stay.

Great stay
- 2/5
The entire hotel felt old and beat up. Breakfast was disappointing. Staff was very nice, however.
- 3/5
I called 2 weeks in advance to see if the indoor pool was in operation. (I had disappointments with this in the past). The clerk at the front desk said yes. Upon arrival, the pool was closed. Dining was convenient, but overpriced. The restaurant was not overly busy, but had a band playing. We were able to get a seat quickly, but had to wait a long time for our food. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
- 3/5
we tried the heater in the room and it smelled like something burning. Our room was across the hall from the laundry that was very noisy. No hot water for tea at breakfast. Eggs were over cooked. Not a great breakfast!
- 5/5
Nice and comfortable hotel that was close to everything
- 4/5
Good place to stay

Great location
- 3/5
The property is in dire need of renovation
- 4/5
All the staff were very friendly! Thr toom was descent and clean, but the hallways were a tored looking, and I wasxa bit disappointed as the gym was closed for "renovations", and not open to use.
- 3/5
I was put in building 2 my room smelled awful. I informed the front desk and while I was away they somehow fixed it. I also bought vent air fresheners and candies.the glass door was dirty as well as the hallway. I got all ready to swim asked where the pool was only to find out it was closed. The property is not well maintained. Can’t believe this is a choice hotel!
- 4/5
Only thing I didn’t like is that the room and the whole property smelled musty. Other wise the hotel was clean and everything worked in the room. Plenty of towels. Front desk staff was very courteous. Attached restaurant had excellent service, mediocre steak( don’t waste your money). Chairs and tables were very run down.
- 5/5
Pool needed to be cleaned, and fitness center was closed, but otherwise it was pretty good
- 1/5
We got in the room and it smelled like mold fridge was not cleaned out
- 1/5
Very disappointing, untidy room
- 3/5
This was a last-minute trip and we were mostly pleased with this hotel. The halls a really dark, enough for my son to say that he was scared. The beds were comfortable, and the space was enough. The hotel needs a major tidy up and refresh. The rooms were mostly clean, but special attention needs to be paid to the bathroom, vanity, and surfaces.
- 2/5
Room was dirty and still had crumbs all over on the floor. There was a big hole in the wall. The dresser was broken and you couldnt open the drawer. The phone was broken. The location was very dirty outaide with cigarettes butts and ashes everywhere. Ice was in a completely different building. Literally had someone trying to come into my room at 2 in the morning. While checking out there was someone else complaining that there tv and wifi didnt work.
- 3/5
The caulk in the tub/shower in our room, #1314, had mold in the corners. The tub had a few spots of rust. The back of the bathroom door had an 18 inch by 6-inch patch of mold in the paint. The toilet seat was loose and missing a hold down screw. The upholstery on the chair had round grey stains in several spots. The elevator floor had small pieces of trash and long-term dirt built-up in the door tracks. While the cleanliness standards need some improvement to make the hotel a truly nice place to stay, the helpful, congenial staff made our stay an overall pleasant experience.
- 2/5
Bathroom was dirty and one of the beds was quite squeaky. Overall convenient location.
- 5/5
For the price it was great
- 3/5
The rooms were very clean. The staff was impeccably sweet. It was convenient to have the tavern there to grab a meal. The disappointment is advertising for an indoor pool that was full of mold and an exercise room that was closed due to the equipment, not working. The breakfast was subpar the eggs were overcooked the sausage was greasy, and the orange juice was watered down with ice. The staff was extremely friendly, always smiling. The rooms were clean and smelled clean as well, including the bathrooms and we got to see deer every morning when we opened our curtains. I would highly suggest not to advertise an indoor pool or exercise room, when you’re bringing a teenager. If that was working, you would’ve gotten five stars.
- 2/5
The breakfast was very nice, and the restaurant was good, but the dining room furniture was in terrible shape. They let us change rooms, but there were also issues in the second room. It could be a great hotel with a little elbow grease, remodeling, and updates. The location for visiting Harpers Ferry is perfect.
- 3/5
Staff was nice.
- 4/5
The free breakfast consisted only of toast, dry cereal and other cold items because the kitchen was closed for maintenance. A hot breakfast was available the next day. We dined in the attached bar and grill, which was almost unbearably chilled. I retrieved a sweater from the car.
- 3/5
The room was clean but pool area and hallways were not. Breakfast was good. The strong smell of marijuana in the hallway is a deal breaker though.
- 4/5
The stay was nice with a good breakfast and nice bed. But our room was musty smelling. With someone who has asma, it is not good to breath in.
- 4/5
I was able to check in early without issue which was very much appreciated given the hot humid weather! Friendly staff through out the visit.
- 4/5
Clean.
- 4/5
Very quiet in the place. Their restaurant was good for a quick dinner because it had been pouring outside.
- 5/5
Other than a few needed updated paints on the ceils are room was comfortable and our stay was perfectly fine:)
- 4/5
Nice place to stay that is close to Harpers Ferry National Park. Friendly receptionists. Good food in the adjoining restaurant.
- 4/5
This is a nice older property. Staff was great. Restaurant was great. I would go back, but it is definitely showing some signs of age.
- 1/5
The room was dirty, it had a bad odor and it was humid. The toilet didn’t flush and the drain was clogged. The pool was green but it was still open. We have stayed here once a year since 2019 and it certainly has gone down hill quick. I will say that the staff was lovely, very kind and accommodating.
- 2/5
I didn't like the fact that they state it is pet friendly and when you get there they put you in a separate building that was disgusting. The bathroom was so small and it smelled like dirty urine. The room was clean but we are both handicapped and had to climb the stairs everytime we went someplace. The breakfast had a lot to be desired the eggs are terrible even with hot sauce and no bacon ever just sausage. only fruit was apples and the tea water was not hot at all and the coffee was too hot and the swimming pool was cloudy and filthy. THis place is old and needs alot of remodling to make it up to par. The only plus with this place is the location made it easy to get to where you were going
- 4/5
Nice staff - a little dated.
- 4/5
Very helpful and friendly staff. Just out of order signs in laundry, and gym.
- 3/5
Was so stinky musty humid it was very uncomfortable glad we only stayed one night. Pool was nice and the breakfast was appreciated
- 4/5
This hotel has really friendly staff, thoughtful touches like magazines in the lobby, the ability to store our stuff for a couple hours after checkout, and a solid breakfast buffet but the rooms are a little run down.
- 4/5
Overall a lovely stay, the bed was comfy, the bar/restaurant was good food and very convenient! We had a nice private view of the woods which was lovely. Overall a good visit and would come back again!
- 5/5
Close to Harper’s ferry restaurant on property
- 3/5
Only issue but consider significant was there was large area of mold in shower. Only stayed one night and did not see until next morning so cannot speak to how they could have resolved it. Let them know upon check out.
- 3/5
Front staff was great, but the room was not clean enough to feel comfortable.

Older hotel and needs updating. Fit what we needed.
- 4/5
It was kind of run down the first room we were in we woke up at 4 am with it being a hot box they swiftly got us into the room right next to the first room. The pool area needed to be cleaner. Other than that it was okay.
- 5/5
The hotel had all amenities and even a heated indoor pool. There is a restaurant attached to the lobby, not too bad as a quick choice and close proximity!
- 5/5
Thank you for a great start
- 4/5
Very clean
- 2/5
Like the breakfast area and that there is a restaurant on site. Quality of breakfast food was fine. Condition of rooms was very poor. Sloppy caulking on tub, rusty drains, lotion dispenser falling off wall, stained bed linens, several outlets didn't work, and carpet in hallways dirty and very worn. Elevator floor was dirty our entire visit. Ceiling above the bed was poorly patched and showing brown stains indicating additional leaking. Unhelpful and uninterested front desk staff. Pool out of service entire visit with promises it would be operational "tomorrow" yet was not. AC in rooms works well and easy to control. Overall, cannot recommend. The lobby is attractive, but the rooms are definitely not up to minimum functional or cleanliness standards. I did not take pictures because I was just going to forget about the experience and move on, but after some thought, I decided to share our experience so someone else can avoid having the same issues we had. We travel to Harpers Ferry frequently but will not stay here again.
- 5/5
I make 2-3 trips to the area each year and always stay here, I’ve never had any problems.
- 3/5
The staff was friendly & warm. The room and bathroom were clean. Unfortunately, the hallways had an odor and debris on the floor. This was consistent for our two day stay.
- 1/5
Among the worst hotel experiences I've had. Sold our room. Substituted our room for one without a preperly working door lick. We left immediately.
- 3/5
We were unlucky to be there when temperature outside was 70 and much colder at night, so A/C was not turning on automatically and air was heavy and carpet smelled bad. But, i guess, it is a problem for any carpeted hotels in such temperature.
- 5/5
The staff was fantastic. They were all very kind, helpful, and friendly.
- 1/5
The hotel is located right on the side of the highway. It was old and rundown and the room was outdated and there were fruit flies all over. The bathroom was old and there were no bars of soap or body wash. I would not stay at a Clarion hotel again.
- 4/5
4th stay, planning next trip
- 2/5
I stayed for 1 night and that was more that I would. It was a last minute booking and I didn't have many options. Don't stay here unless you really want to. This property has not been maintained for ages it looks like. You don't get the right feel the moment you enter. Possibly because of the worn out carpet all across. Dingy lifts. Out of stock toiletries. Civil issues such as inconvenient tap fitting leaving no space for hand wash.
- 4/5
It wasn't the Hilton, but it was clean. The pool was heated and always had towels. The people were friendly and the breakfast area was twice as big as some hotels we have stayed.
- 5/5
Great location 5 minutes frim Harpers Ferry restaurant connected to hotel.
