many restaurants nearby Upon arrival my room had to be switched TWICE. The first room was not ready at alll, and the second room smelled completely like cigarettes even though it was a “non smoking” room. I was downgraded from a 2 bedroom to a 1 bedroom with no efforts made to accommodate. The TV DID NOT WORK, the blankets sucked, & the phone in the room also didnt work. Im never staying at a MainStay ever again and telling my family to do the same!

I usually stay at properties that are a little higher end, so I was surprised how much I enjoyed my week at Main Stay Suites. The room, bathroom and kitchenette were very clean and the room had lots of desk/counter space for working. Cool A/C. Coffee packs are supplied in the room but they also have good coffee downstairs every morning. The pillows were comfortable - especially for my sore shoulder. And every staff member at the registration desk and that I encountered in the hotel greeted me with a smile and a hello. I had a terrible experience at the Courtyard by Marriott across the street on a previous visit. It had more amenities but terrible staff and was not clean. Main Stay is much, much better!

Great staff. Comfortable but not properly cleaned room (e.g. crumbs on counter, hair in bathroom). Need better maintenance practices. Smoke detector was beeping when we arrived. Batteries needed to replaced. Why is this identfied by a guest visit and not routine maintenance? No breakfast even though advertised as having it on Expedia and sign on wall just off hotel lobby. Overall the hotel served my purpose but I would think twice before staying there again. The staff treated me well during my limited interactions with them.

Close to the airport It was not clean. The entry way floor was dirty. There were boxes stacked in the hallways. There were roaches in the room. The pillows were terrible.

The staff here are great! The new GM has the best customer service along with the other manager. They are always available at the front desk so no waiting if you are in need of anything. I highly recommend staying at MainStay Suites in Greensboro, NC on Thorndike Rd. The pictures online match exactly how the room looks. You won't be disappointed! I have NO complaints at all!

The manager, Bailey, was there when I arrived to check in. I had made my reservation 3 weeks in advance and had spent two full days driving from NH to NC. I was extremely tired and wanted to get into my room. Bailey told me that "having a reservation did not mean anything." He gave me many excuses as to why my room was not ready (they were overbooked, guests overstayed, they had rooms of the type that I booked but they were not clean, etc.) Bailey said I have to stay in a downgraded room for the first night and would have to work out the refund with Expedia. He said they could move me to my correct room the next morning, which would entail me moving all my belongings, that I had just hauled up to the third floor. I agreed I would stay in the downgraded room for one night. When I got to my downgraded room, I noticed that the dishwasher had an out of order sign on it, the smoke detector was not connected and the cover was hanging from a wire in the ceiling, and the refrigerator was making a loud roar that no one could sleep through. I called Expedia and they resolved my issue in about 20 minutes by canceling my reservation and getting me a refund. I had to pack up all my belongings and move to another hotel, which by the way had no issue accommodating me even though I made my reservation a few minutes prior. If you choose to stay at Maine Stay Suites, whether or not you get a room or whether you get the room you actually booked is a complete gamble so beware.
- 3/5
The staff was friendly and courteous. The problems were, when I first arrived, Mainstay did not have a suite available, so I had to accept a double until the next day. When I did move to the suite, it smelled of cigarette smoke and when I asked to be moved, they could not because they did not have any other suites available. The TV satellite was down so there was no tv. If I did not have my phone, I would not have been able to watch anything. I know that the staff con not make people follow the rules, but the smoking throughout the complex was overwhelming, especially for a non-smoker like me. The staff was great but with all the other problems, I will not be staying here again. I stayed here in 2023 and things were great, that's why I booked the hotel again. I also left a day early. Hopefully, Mainstay will correct the problems.

I WALKED OUT AND WENT TO ANOTHER LOCATION. THE STAFF PLACED ME IN TWO OTHER ROOMS BEFORE WE FOUND A ROOM THAT WAS CLEAN AND SUITABLE, BUT I COULDN'T STAY IN THAT PLACE. THE OVERALL SMELL WAS HORRIFIC!!!!

Everything in this location is average
- 2/5
Tub faucet dripped the whole time, toilet didn’t flush properly and I’ve felt more warmth and ambiance in hospital rooms. If you’re looking for no frills, no comfort, very basic accommodations this is your place. Staff was friendly though.
- 5/5
Great place to sta
- 3/5
Theres potential but it could use some TLC. The bed was uncomfortable. Some of the amenities were worn out. The fridge looked like it was bought at a garage sale. Holes in the walls and peeling bathroom ceiling. Sketchy people in the parking lot and broken down cars arent very welcoming.
- 5/5
Is a comfortable hotel with a completé kitchen
- 3/5
Room was fine and served purpose-close to airport. Not the hotel's fault but there were folks drag racing for about 2 hours while trying to fall asleep and then just loid talkers in halls.
- 5/5
Our room was very clean. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen area and appliances were clean and operated as they should. The ac worked well and had good cold air. Checking in was easy , Carmen was very proficient and super helpful and friendly. Lots of restaurants close by and shopping. We would stay here again and highly recommend this hotel.
- 1/5
They cancelled my reservation because THEY overbooked. That’s not my fault. I would never recommend anyone to stay there. I needed a room and THEY screwed me over.
- 3/5
Great customer service by staff. When we first got to our room, the window was wide open, so there were quite a few flying insects. There was old urine left in the toilet that caused a terrible smelling bathroom. Also, the check out is at 11am, not the 12pm that hotels.com website says.
- 4/5
Very close to Greensboro airport. A few places to eat and shop around in the area for our short stay. Staff was excellent. Front desk (Carman I believe) was such a pleasure! Would have no problem staying here again.
- 2/5
Section 8/long term stay. Clientele was a mix. Breaking parts like shower head and door. Star amazing which made the stay good.
- 5/5
Nice room
- 3/5
Desk clerk gave us an occupied room to start. Air didn’t work well
- 1/5
My suite smelled like cigarette was been manufactured in there. It was terrible i had to move out the nexy day.
- 3/5
My room was not clean there food in the refrigerator and it was not mine.I asked for another room didn’t hear anything back. Finally they had pest in the room kitchen mainly
- 1/5
I received a phone call from the hotel saying my room was cancelled due to a double booking. However, on the website it stated there was availability. Therefore, I didn't stay at the hotel and was not able to see how was the room.
- 5/5
I loved my stay
- 3/5
It was close to the airport.

Very nice fir the price i had late check in so i didnt notice tolit was stopped up
- 4/5
Not a smoker, had many cigarette butts all around the entrance of hotel. Smell of smoke was very present at check in, however once away from front desk no smoke smell. Beds slept great, air conditioner was great. Refrigerator in room was little noisy but worked great. Overall we would stay again , the price was us was great.
- 5/5
The staff was incredibly friendly, and the hotel was peaceful and well-maintained.
- 3/5
The property was very nice and clean.
- 5/5
Put like this, that will be the first hotel im going to reserve every time i visit
- 2/5
The room was comfortable, but after we got there, we found out there was no ice machine. Plus, for the cost of the room they could have had breakfast for the guests. The toilet was damaged, and the shower sprayed water on the wall above the shower head. I made coffee in the room and the coffee was old and was awful. We also had ants in the room. Luckily, we were not in the room much because of daytime activities so we just reported the problems to the staff when we left.
- 3/5
Would not recommend, looked run down. Not at all what I expected for the area
- 5/5
Clean comfortable quite room. Nice placeto stay.
- 5/5
I stay on average, weekly here. Always my go-to.
- 5/5
Everything was great and clean, hygienic. I had a broken charger and needed one for my phone. Memory went out of her way to help me with a charger. I owe her a lot. Above and beyond. Thank you, Memory.
- 4/5
The hotel listed breakfast as an amenity. it no longer is. No food on site.
- 3/5
The deadbolt on the main door was inoperable but could be locked by lifting the door, also door did not close tightly letting in noise and light. The shower wand head was broken and had to be rigged to hang up, Trees and shrubs over and around the sidewalk needed trimming, had to avoid low hanging branches that were wet. Property has no covered entry which makes unloading and loading difficult during rainy times. TV, serviced by Dish was inoperable most of the stay due to overcast and rain.
- 2/5
did not like it did not have 1 place in the hotel for ice. not even a cube of ice anywhere. no computer for guest, no continental breakfast or anything to offer guest and this is supposed to be one of the better suites. WHY WAS THIS!!!!!
- 5/5
This property was excellent. The staff were very helpful and attentive. The rooms were clean. The overall service was great.
- 5/5
was trying to stay in Charlotte but the prices were insane, i guess for the PGA thing - so i stayed here instead. easy to find location, easy parking, close to lots of food and shopping options. the front desk guy was nowhere to be found when i checked in, but eventually showed up was exceedingly slow in making me a key and doing some stuff on the computer. as for the room, it was super clean as expected though the tub and fridge looked somewhat dated, but the vanity was nice with the backlit mirror and consistent with something i would see at a Woodbridge or Country Inn. anyways, the place was sort of a semi mix of renovated and nice vs dated and very budget. i was fortunate my neighbors were mostly behaved since the front door and probably the walls were paper thin and you can hear anything and everything. Hotels.com said checkout was noon, but it appears check out was 11 am. and if there was coffee or something anywhere, i surely didn't find it. the fridge in my room kept making this knocking sound sometimes like it sounded like someone was at my door. and i also had a fruit fly flying around, which is odd since it was an enclosed area on the 2nd floor and no ability to open windows.
- 5/5
I’ve already told them about 2 needs in the bathroom for others. They asked if I wanted another room and I told them it wasn’t necessary. Just that the overhead mirror light needed new bulb and that a previous tenant had broken the hook for the shower nozzle to hang. No problem for us though.
- 5/5
Hope to stay again.
- 5/5
There was one issue being we were on the first floor there was a family with children running over our heads after midnight, the front was notified. Everytime we stay at Mainstay it's always a pleasant experience!
- 5/5
Went through a divorce, and the ex-wife is not making it easy on me at all. Been living out of the car and I decided to splurge on a hotel room. A bed and a shower makes a whole lot of difference.
- 4/5
There was no ice machines.
- 5/5
Clean!! Thats a plus plus for me..
- 5/5
Staff very nice and professional. Check- in and out with a breeze.
- 4/5
It was an older hotel and the bed could have been more comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful.
- 1/5
My room was beyond smoky and she wouldn’t switch my room. I get headaches from cigarette smoke and almost slept out in my car. The next day the manager was nice and switched me. My sink and tub drain did not drain and I saw a bug in my kitchen counter. I was not happy.
- 3/5
A lot of "normal" amenities were NOT provided - no ice (in frig and no ice machines on property), no hairdryer, no plates or silverware (even plastic), no iron (just an ironing board), no hot water on arrival which was later remedied, no housekeeping during stay. Staff was friendly and helpful, and tried but could not come up with a fork or spoon!
- 3/5
Sierra did the impossible to support getting the hot water back. After 24hrs without hot water.
- 1/5
I was told, there were two hot water tanks and the tech was taking parts from one to get the other working. Tried to use the gym, elliptical machine not working. One morning, I was attempting to get coffee, in the breakfast area, much to my surprise, there was a 5'x5' hole in the ceiling. Lastly, I checked all three floors for ice machines, when I went the front desk asking if there were ice machines, I was told no and handed two ice cubes trays to make my own. I don't know who owns this place, but the owner should really consider another occupation. On a positive note, the staff was friendly and as helpful as possible.
- 2/5
Twelve bags of trash were piled up by the elevator. The trash can outside the hotel was overflowing when I checked in and still overflowing when I checked out the next day. I prepaid for a room with a queen bed and was given a room with a double bed. I requested to be moved to a room with a queen bed and was moved to another room with a double bed. The desk clerk was supposed to change my room in the system however did not. Found this out when someone came knocking on my door the next morning saying they were just given the room I was moved to. Do not plan on staying at this hotel again.
- 5/5
Loved that it had all sorts of amenities that were simple but make life easier
- 3/5
Key card machine wasn't working had to leave the door cracked open every time I left the room, the shower was good
- 5/5
Clean, kind staff, and perfectly located to all main roads, freeway, and shopping centers.
- 5/5
Not fancy at all but newly remodeled. Quiet, clean and blessed with a friendly and helpful staff that really seem to care about the hotel and about you. I will definitely stay again when I'm in the area.
- 3/5
It was cool, door just kept coming off.
- 3/5
Not now
- 5/5
as with most motels the walls and doors are thin and not all guests are considerate
- 1/5
The whole hotel should be smoke free, but it wasn't, the cigarette/weed smells in the hall, elevator, and i was smell it in my room (coming from other room)and i went to the reception complaining about that.
- 5/5
Breakfast was stocked every morning.
- 1/5
The property asvertises that it is pet friendly. When we attempted to check in they let us know that cats are not permitted.
- 3/5
The place was good but it seems there were some noise from time to time in the middle of the night.
- 5/5
Clean
- 4/5
But, for an extended stay type of setup, it was not prepared. They did away with a nice breakfast room. Individual guest rooms had a fridge and microwave but no dishes, no pans, no silverware, nor glasses. The microwave had no turntable plate. There was no blanket on the bed nor in a drawer (it was mid December). Overall, not a good setup, but we slept well.
- 5/5
Great customer service
- 4/5
Okay
- 4/5
I was not 100% happy because they didn’t clean my room during the 9 day stay
- 3/5

Good place to stay. Convenient location. Good restaurant options
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
But a ice machine would had been nice, since the refrigerator doesn't make ice.
- 1/5
Walked into lobby and was greeted with "When did you make your reservation?" I said earlier this week. She insited the hotel manage had called me and cancelled the reservation due to renovations going on at the hotel. I said if they had called me, why would I be here? She said she had one room left and I could book through the app or directly through her. But it would be higher if I booked through her. I couldn't get the app to work on my phone, so I took the so called last room. I was tired and didn't want to look elsewhere. The room itself was decent and had been recently remodeled. The next morning I am woken up with contractors hammering and drilling in the next room. What a great start for the vacation... There were multiple other hotels in the area. I will not be stayng here again. I understand hotels have to deal with a lot, but don't lie to me when I walk in the door and tell me the manager called me, when they simply didn't do their job.
- 4/5
Old bathroom amenities, small TV. Otherwise nice studio type room. Would repeat for price.
- 2/5
The building has rooms under renovations so I’m sure in the future it will be in better condition. Unfortunately our bathroom was not very clean as my wife wouldn’t even shower as the tub was not clean. Could definitely use new pillows as well
- 3/5
No breakfast. Room was missing facial tissues, pen and paper, bathroom cups.
- 5/5
Clean & Quiet!
- 1/5
Shall not stay here again Expedia should not promote this property in their web sites
- 5/5
Like a studio apartment
- 1/5
This property has not been maintained very well. My window sheers were dirty. Although the dirt might be mold. My coffee maker didn't work. There. Was a "live" wire in the hairdryer. It did not feel safe.
- 2/5
Other hotels near the airport were sold out, and other hotels were going for $400 to $500 per night due to some major events. So we opted for this location and wish I had just driven from farther away. The third floor room, which was provided was recently remodeled and was nice, however, the entrance area was ragged. The front desk people were very nice and professional. But this extended stay hotel caused you to feel a bit wary. Were you safe or not? Some people loitered in the parking lot and one approached me as I was going to my car for the airport. Though there are no smoking signs everywhere, the halls smelled like marijuana smoke.
- 3/5
This room did have a kitchenette, but did not otherwise qualify as a suite. It wasn't much larger than a standard hotel room. Could stand a lot of refurbishment. Staff was pleasant
- 3/5
No clean the room any days and the AC not working
- 1/5
In a review of this MainStay in Greensboro, I rated less than stellar. A manager made all the difference. My stay was peaceful and all was well until the final day. The housekeeper asked if I was “extending”. I wasn’t scheduled to check out until the next morning, so I told her that I was ok til Monday. Later, I was visited by a clerk who seemed eager to meet me, like a club bouncer. I shared the same info about my check out day and she said, “Well, my notes say you checking out now.” I rechecked my itinerary and realized that it was a mistake that I made and admitted as much. I called & requested a two hour late check out & she flat out told me: “No ma’am. You have to pack your stuff and GET OUT.” It wasn’t just the words; it was her subtle lack of empathy for my situation. She acted as if I requested a free night. I was not treated like a customer AT ALL. I had to call my Rewards to help. I extended another 30 min. As I checked out, she said to the housekeeper, “They are finally checking out.” She was rude. A sign that this was her baseline: she didn’t recognize me. Ultimately: Can I afford better? Yes. Should I? No. Pests are better. Raid and traps help. I draw the line at spitefulness and disrespect. She could have found a nicer way to explain the situation.
- 3/5
The location is convenient to the airport. Clean enough and bed was comfortable. Table in room was wobbly, the toiket kept running until i stopped it, dingy and needs updatung.
- 5/5
Awesome stay!
- 3/5
After an elevator ride which reeked of weed... I got to my room, the bed wasn't made, and there were alcohol empties in the trash. After a trip to the front desk again, the hostess got me another room. After another ride in the same elevator that now smelled somehow even worse of weed...The next room was nice, save for the fact some of the bathroom floor tiles were coming up. Construction was happening inside and all around the building. That can't be helped when needed, but just explaining for my star ratings. The next hostess was kind and awesome. She even extended our checkout so my son could come back and shower after his wrestling meet (anything to avoid ring worm) before traveling back home hours away. The experience itself wasn't awesome overall, but the front staff is accommodating and worth their weight in gold. The front staff would be the only reason I would want to re-book this hotel.
- 2/5
This hotel is tired...and it shows. And just because it has the word Suites in it's name doesn't mean your going to find luxury accommodations.
- 4/5
There was nothing that I can honestly say I didn't like this hotel is the best I super love this place it is very clean and quiet the staff the gm. And the manger are super sweet and kind honest and respectful always got a smile on they face they have very nice rooms no bugs or anything it has everything you need to cook with and if it's not in your room they will get you what you need with no problem please please if you looking for a nice safe place to go this is the place I promise you will love it there it's my home away from home every time you will get your money worth i promise thank you main stay see you guys soon ❤️❤️🙂🙂🙂🙂
- 5/5
This not the first time I stayed here but I love all the staffs that I met in person they so sweet and polite have smiles on they face and if there is something wrong they will do they best to make it right this place is home away from home
- 5/5
Great location. Clean and comfy! Super close to restaurants. Great area!
- 5/5
My room had a little kitchen area for an extended stay. Bed was comfy and parking was easy. I would definitely stay here again.
- 3/5
Be prepared that there is no room cleaning/service while you stay so don't expect them to change out your towels or empty your trash. Several times it looked as if the guests just set their trash/ towels by the elevator to be picked up. Some of the staff were friendly while others were not. Sorry, would not stay again.
- 3/5
On my reservation it said I would get a queen size bed and I had a full size bed
- 4/5
Overall, the room was good. The property is good, but the couch they have in my room was very disgusting, dirty and old.
- 4/5
Room was a suite. Ok
- 1/5
canceled my reservation, no notice
- 4/5
The checking in was good. The front desk staff was very friendly. The room itself was just ok. The soda bed was all stained and not comfortable at all. We had to put a bed sheet around the cushion in order to use it as the headboard. The chairs with the dining table were also stained so we really did not sit much.
- 3/5
The staff behind the desk were very polite and easy to work with. Other than that, the experience was not very positive. It is a non-smoking facility but there was always odor from cigarettes and marijuana. The bathroom floor had 2 tiles that kept coming off. The carpet was not clean and the room smelled. I will not be staying at this hotel in any future visits to Greensboro.
- 3/5
WIFI is terrible
- 4/5
I didn't like the spots on the sofa bed, chairs and hallway carpet. I liked the staff and everything else in the room. Bed was comfortable, very cle an linen and towels.
- 3/5
Great location right off the highway, decent amount of restaurants within 10 minutes of hotel
- 1/5
Just not a safe place
- 2/5
Power was out when we checked in so cleaning was ok. Power came back on within 30 minutes of checkin. Hotel was not well maintained, broken light fixture in bathroom, main kitchen light burned out, told front desk, still not fixed when checked out. Hallways and stairs were dirty, did not see anyone vaccuum during the entire stay. Outside trash receptacles were overflowing when we arrived and were when we left. Stayed 3 days, would not recommend.
- 5/5
The service was good
- 5/5
The front desk, Sierra was amazing!! Friendly helpful and very professional.
- 3/5
The staff was fantastic! The property is in need of a major renovation. Carpets are dirty, the appliances are old. And the beds need to be replaced.
- 5/5
Everything was nice the price was a little on the high side and not enough channels on the tv
- 5/5
Excellent service and cordial front desk staff. Very clean room, larger than I expected. Comfortable bed. Great deal for the price
- 5/5
Very clean and quiet property. Staff are extremely friendly, and gym access is 24/7. The kitchenette in the room is also very clean and convenient. I give them 5 stars. Definitely recommending this place!
