Motel 6 Glenview, IL - Chicago North

This property definitely gets an A for renovations effort. You can tell they really tried to update everything and make this a great property. The downsides were the smells in the halls and room. It’s right off a freeway so lots of noise. It is super basic. I probably would not stay again but it was ok for one night.

Every morning I would request them to call the maid service, and they did. When I got back home the maid service cleaned my room, and had adequate towels for me to use for the next day.

I just had problems with the water pressure, but everything else was good.

The room smelled immediately as I walked in. Like literally a "dead rat," but I could deal with it. The sheets had stains on them, both the covers and bed sheets. I asked the front desk guy for new ones, and he gave me clean ones, so that was good. I threw the clean ones on top of the dirty ones and just had to sleep like that. It would honestly have still received a higher rating from me if not for that smell and dirty sheets because the actual room looked nice.

Nice simple room but without fridge or even microwave. There is an excellent Korean restaurant next door. Floors could be vacuumed a little more thoroughly. Front desk folks were very nice and my particular room on the second floor had a very nice open window view.

Stayed here for the first time. Bath tub had stains and looked unclean to me. Not sure if they provide Shampoo, Electric Tea Kettle, Iron Board but for my need it was lacking.

Essential toiletries were minimal; bar soap and towels were appreciated, though a toothbrush and toothpaste would help bare minimum travellers. Some of the wood furnishings around the room entrance was splintered.

Fine for a cheap room. Had some issues that involved me going up and down stairs several times to finally have to get a different room. But I'd still go back because the staff were very helpful and understanding about the situation. Their kindness saved the trip for me.

Air conditioning has a preset temperature which cannot be lowered fan very weak. When using hot water in bathroom, the water would become cold. If turned water off, then could get more hot water. Had a sign stating after staying for a designated time frame must leave for a designated time frame.

Location was good, and reasonably priced. -no microwave available throughout the property -entry doors to hallways that were supposed to be accessed only with entry card often not working or propped open. -parking spaces within a few feet of the windows of hotel and exhaust fumes may enter the HVAC system producing a serious health hazard. I plan to speak to the property manager regarding this.

Housekeeping is very loud in the morning they nick at your door every morning without you requesting the service, if you’re tired from traveling, and you want to rest in the am I won’t recommend it, the place is very loud.

There are no "do not disturb" signs you can hang on your door to avoid annoying knocks and loud shouts of "housekeeping" every morning. This hotel has only one advantage: its low price.

HAD A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THE WIFI. HAD TO SWITCH ROOMS SEVERAL TIMES.

Front Desk always accommodates my request. No issue wjth in person interaction. Always super helpful. I stayed in room 136 and on June 2nd at 9am this morning someone entered my room when I left and urinated on the desk. The hotel allows people access to the room. Please check cameras.

Building layout was confusing to find room

I got a room to strickiy sleep undisturbed cause I hadn’t slept in days. The whole second floor smelled I was hopeful it wouldn’t be bad but the smell of cigarettes was too much for me and to top it off the couple that woke me up fighting was the cherry on top. My allergies were killing me between the smell and the absolute dryness it was a disaster from the beginning. The gentleman at the front desk was the only pleasant experience. I am so frustrated. I know they don’t have control of the guests but man the fact that I can’t breathe right right now it’s terrible.

The room was clean. No frills. Warm bed. Hot shower (took awhile for the water to warm up, but it was -2 degrees outside). I dropped my wallet at the vending machines and someone turned it in. Nothing missing!!!

Room warmed up pretty fast. Water took forever to get hot in shower. No plus near the desk for laptop. That aside, the price was decent, and it was a room with a desk and tv and shower - so Okay. About what you expect for an inexpensive hotel. Worth it at $100 per night - not so much over that.

The staff was friendly and the room was clean enough. However, there was a weird smell that was impossible to ignore. Even with the AC turned on, the smell was strong enough to notice.

Don't expect too much from this hotel. There's strangers' hair on the floor and in your towels, dogs barking behind the wall, and rats scurrying near the dumpster. Plus, there are no "do not disturb" signs on the door, so be prepared for the housekeeper to not hear your voice and decide to come in at any cost.

I have stayed in many Spartan hotels llike this previously. Almost without exception they have been clean,functional and acceptable. This place smelled, is outdated and not maintained.

Not sure if the bag she'll was from construction or just how it now smells. In any case, not pleasant.

A reasonably priced choice for a one night stay. Nice staff, small but clean room. Several good walkable dining options and a crosswalk about 0.2 miles if you want to cross the major road to reach dining. This was important since we were car less this trip

We stayed for 2 nights and we didn’t get much sleep due to the disturbing experience and didn’t get what we paid for.  From the motel entrance to the hallway, it is very smelly, smelling like an unclean restroom with human waste. Our room has a door connected to another room, and the thin door is not soundproof.  The 1st night, the adjacent room played loud TV till 1am, and then we were woken up by loud TV again at 4am.  We only got 3 hours of sleep.  I called the front desk, they called that room as we can hear everything super clearly.  Then the couple in the room turned the volume down, but still talked loudly.  Before we went out in the morning, we heard they had sex.  I had my kid with me in the room, we were so disturbed, we ran outside. On the 2nd night, we went back around 11pm, it was quiet, so we thought the couple next door was checked out.  I checked online the motel was fully booked, no room was available, so we stayed put.  Unfortunately, we were woken up by screaming, shouting, and cursing at 5am.  The couple in room was fighting, and seemed like sweeping something in the room.  I was so tired and waited for them to stop.  But the quarreling continued, I had to check out early, since I almost threw up and was deeply bothered by their disgusting curse. I reported it to the front desk and asked for a refund. They declined and blamed us not to switch room earlier.

Nice clean room and hotel as a whole. The surrounding community very nice. But do ask for a room behind the building because the front of the hotel has a busy street with a lot of traffic.

This motel was located next to a major highway. Traffic noise all night. There was no elevator. The staff was very polite. The room was clean and comfortable.

This hotel is quiet and conveniently located, but the smell of cigars is overwhelming when you enter the hotel. They clean it well, but the inside smells like an unpleasant odor mixed with the smell of cigars and the chemical smell from the cleaning products. People who are sensitive to smells will probably not go there again.

The Bed was NOT comfy. There were stains everywhere. There was no breakfast but we knew that booking the hotel. People tried getting into our room in the middle of the night but since the door was bolted and they did not have the right key card they were unsuccessful. NOT RECOMMENDING TO ANYONE

You pay for what you get. This motel is the olfactory equivalent to the subway. Every room, hallway, and staircase in the hallway smelled bad in a different way. The smell of smoke was inescapable. Our initial room smelled worse than the hallway, after we asked for a new one, we got one that smelled bad, but less bad than the hallway. By the end of our two night stay, my clothes all began to smell like smoke.

My fault I had wrong ending date on my stay. They then put me in a non-tv room for last night which was ok. But then it was hot. Temp on cooler said 66 but heck it was really 66? I'd been turning it up to a more comfortable 73 as I had maintained in my other room a few doors away. You couldn't manipulate the a/c to get it to a good temp so I slept on top of bedding. The shower was walk in, even with bathroom floor but it was plugged which I didn't notice at first. In the 8 minutes I was in there with showerhead pointing toward wall, I washed hair & such & noticed water was above my toes so I moved and it was still that way and filtered out to other part of bathroom. I used my towel, when done, to help absorb water & then wrung out, and put it back down on bathroom floor. I reported the plug up to front manager going off shift the next a.m. before I left.

Cheap and kinda good easy to walk around to eat and shopping

I just needed a bed and a shower before an early flight the next day. Rolled the dice on this "cheap" motel and was seriously impressed for what I paid. Clearly the owner recently refurbished. The lobby and halls were kinda scary, but my actual room was totally updated. Fresh paint, obviously new furniture (no signs of wear, no nicks or scratches, etc). Power outlets had USB and USB-C ports. The bathroom - new counter, new sink, new fixtures, new toilet, everything... The floors are laminate and the walls didn't have any artwork, so it doesn't feel "homey". But I really didn't care. My room was super clean, well prepped and the guy at the front desk was very gracious (Mohammed was his name)... No exaggeration that a normally budget-friendly hotel down the street was MORE than 10x what I paid here (Lalapalooza is going on). I gave 5 stars because it simply exceeded my expectations for what I paid. Definitely a 5-star value, even if it's not the Ritz or the Waldor!!

This was just a stay to sleep hotel. There was human hair in the bath. The halls smelled like death. The floor was filthy. If you don't need anything fancy and just need to sleep, this one is ok for the price. Not one I would ever stay in again.

Accessible to restaurants, gasoline station and places we wanted to go to. Location wise was fantastic. Our room was a bit turned off, it was newly painted room and the paint smell stuck to the room, so we had to leave the window open even at night while asleep. Room was Too small for a 2 full beds. No refrigerator and microwave. No hair dryer.

Smelled of urine, but I guess we got use to it in the room. The hallways reeked tho. The shower pressure was so weak. The hotel is an hour away from downtown, so everyday was a commute. The beds were fine. We did not receive enough towels tho. Seen rats outside the building, but the room it's self was rodent free. If sleeping is your main priority bring ear plugs. Upstairs neighbors sounded as if they were "dancing" all night, and i can hear the next door neighbor being sick all night. Not fun. The pricing was the only thing I really liked, and they were just okay. ($560 for two rooms for 3days)

I had a mixed experience during my stay. The first room I was given was not clean, but the staff handled the situation exceptionally well and moved me to another room right away. The second room was better, but cleanliness was still lacking overall. I would strongly advise avoiding the first floor—it had a strong smell of mildew, vomit, and urine, which was very off-putting. Unfortunately, I ended up checking out early and didn’t stay for the second night. That said, the highlight of the hotel is definitely the staff. Every person I interacted with was friendly, professional, and eager to help. Their customer service was truly excellent and made an otherwise disappointing stay more bearable.

The hotel was okay. It was clean enough and well located for a morning flight at O'Hare. It just has an unfortunate smell. I think it was mop water and paint, maybe. But it wasn't pleasant. An air freshener would go a long way.

I really like this Motel 6 it’s updated and the rooms are a little smaller but their beds are very comfortable and not sitting on the floor. The ladies at the front desk is welcoming and asking if it’s anything you need let them know. The washing and dryer works.

Tried to get snacks from the vending machine. It was half empty and then several selections wouldn't work. The girl working the front was quite polite and helpful but the facility itself was poor. We won't be back when there are several other options nearby .

The location is good, the hotel is very clean. The front desk is very nice and polite! There’re two issues: WiFi is good in the lobby office but no access in our rooms; also the room wall noise insulation is not good, can hear next door or upstairs talks and walks. But our 4 night stay, we mainly used it for sleeps in the late night. Hope Motel 6 can improve the WiFi coverage in the near future.

Safe location and clean room but we had to slam our door for it to close, ran out of hot water for bathing and the fire sprinklers in our room were moved to the side and it was a bit off putting.

You had no ice in the ice machine . Nothing Slipped trying to get out of tub and took a big fall to the floor. You need to put in some grippers on the tub bottoms. I’m 76 so I could not break my fall. Bed was ok but the room was very stark like it was 100 years old.

Both doors that go to the rooms have a place where you can insert your key card to get in, but you don’t even need to do that because they are unlocked. To me, this is kind of unsafe. It seems that this motel caters to homeless people and migrants. There’s no problem with that in general. It’s just not what I was expecting.
