We booked a Handicapped room. It wasn't very well set up for a handicapped person in a wheelchair. As were most of the hotel rooms on this trip, this room was for a person whose 'handicap' was, perhaps, that s/he had to use a cane. Compare that to an amputee in a wheelchair. I asked when making the reservation that the ottoman be moved; it wasn't and it caused a problem. Getting the wheelchair between the bed and the TV table was another problem. It seems that what hotels think solves handicap issues is a bunch of grab bars, all positioned horizontally. Vertical bars help people stand up from the toilet or shower seat - if there is one. So....staying in that room was difficult and annoying. Being handicapped has many definitions, from using just a cane to being an amputee in a wheelchair to being blind, not having one hand or the other, etc. I think hotels can do MUCH better to accommodate handicapped people if they only c a r e d .

First room we were assigned was filthy (not vacuumed, sticky substances on both night tables, etc). Second room had a moldy and dirty washcloth hanging in the bathroom. We were there for 3 nights for a tournament. Trash was never emptied, never received fresh towels, nothing. Price was far too much for this type of service. Best thing about the hotel is its proximity to restaurants and Henrico Sports and Event Center.

Upon checking in our room’s toilet wouldn’t flush properly, it was not fixed that night. Also the TV was not connected and the fridge was not cold. Went back to the front desk and the friendly staff arranged a room trade. The new room had the issues corrected (except the fridge temp) but the shower doors wouldn’t stay shut, requiring one person to stand outside and hold the door shut while the other person showered. Not worth the price we paid for the hotel with the inattention to the maintenance matters (was told maintenance did not work on the weekends???). Also housekeeping only replaced the towels, did not touch the bed at all and the was only once during our five night stay. Will look for a different place on our next stop.

This was the second time I stayed here this year while visiting my daughter. The staff has always been super friendly, the room clean, the breakfast always had a few warm items and was included in the room price so who can complain! Con’s, the room air conditioning blew very hard and cold at times, and it took a couple of times to tap my key to get into my room, but that could have been user error. Overall I enjoy staying here, which is why I chose to stay here once again.

It was fine, the staff was courteous. The rooms were just ok with lots lacking in comfort - sinks were clogged, shower made a weird squealing noise and beds/bedding were ok. Nothing terrible at all, just overall a mid grade hotel. The staff was quick to change our room when we discovered the pull out mattress was missing , despite being a very busy check in night. The lady in charge of breakfast was a delight though.

The indoor pool was a nice perk for the kids. The floor in the room was dirty. The bedframe was dirty and dusty. There was huge dust bunnies along the bed. There was a bug crawling on the window sill. The bathroom was clean but the little door covering the water shut off fell out of the wall. There was crusty adult “stains” on the floor by the cough. The whole room needs a deep clean. The whole hotels room key system was down. The pool was a nice perk for my kids. Breakfast was decent, waffles freshly made, bacon and eggs. It did the job. We checked out a day early since it wasn’t as nice of a hotel as I assumed when I booked. I didn’t bring any of this us to the staff, they were super friendly. When the front desk person took us to our room at first she said “this is one of the nicest rooms we have” and boy that’s alarming.

Also, never in the 40 years I have been staying in hotels have I ever encountered a ruder, nastier person than the woman serving breakfast. As a guest and a customer, I don't like to be spoken to as if I were a child. Don't walk into that breakfast space five minutes before opening, or you will be treated rather harshly. It wasn't just me, other guests who were not aware of the weekend opening times got an earful as well.

Was checked in a dirty room (never cleaned from prior guests). Then checked in another room, also dirty (never cleaned from prior guest, dirty sheets and all). Then checked in a room with no AC... was too late, i had to sleep, it took till mid-day next day to be moved to a CLEAN room with working AC! Key card for 2nd room I was checked in could not be programmed, so I was given a single keycard (was told was a master key that needed to be returned), this key wouldn't open outside doors, so had to drag my luggage arround the hotel to get in. One of the 2 elevators was shaking and scraping each time it approached the 4th floor - I asked an employee that rode the elevator with me if this was normal, they were just as spooked as me and said, I don't know why this is.. carpets in the hotel we're dirty, stained and ripped up at places... the final room I was checked in (the one that was cleaned by housekeeping and had a working AC) had a leaking shower and the bathroom vent was very loud the 1st time I turned it on, then it stopped working. This hotel is NOT a Marriott, it felt like a cheap motel 6 or something, maybe even worse. Nothing really

We recently stayed at Springhill Suites in Glen Allen. When we arrived the pool door had a sign stating the pool was closed for maintenance and would re-open the next day. While sitting in the lobby area another patron passed through and stated he had paid the front desk to close the pool for the weekend due to the amount of kids who were there for a weekend football tournament. Second, our room was 110, by the elevators. One elevator was closed and being worked on during our stay. I woke each morning to the sound of scraping, banging, etc from the elevator work. I understand updates are necessary however there are quiet hours for the patrons, this should be followed for the workers as well. Third, on Saturday night when I went with my child to purchase a water the front desk associate was in the back room, in clear view, sleeping soundly. I called out to her, she never budged. We took our water and left her sleeping. Management was made aware the following day. The final straw.. the "pull out sofa bed" is a twin size trundle. When I removed the fitted sheet while stripping linens before check out I was shocked to find a severely soiled/stained mattress my child had been sleeping on all weekend. Not acceptable. I did notify the manager and showed her pictures I took at check out and have also disputed charges. Management agreed to refund one night with the complaint to expedia, acknowledging unsatisfactory conditions IMO.

Room was clean, thought toilet appeared to be leaking and shower door did not close properly. And air conditioning unit had been left off, so room was too warm and muggy when I arrived. I still rate the hotel as good since I considered these minor conveniences that did not interrupt my stay.

Hello This Derrick Moselely And I Stayed In Hotel SpringHill Suites by Marriott Richmond North/Glen Allen Location On August 29th To August 31st Because Of My Wedding In That Area. The Only Issue I Had Was That I Stayed In Room 327 And The Pull Out Mattress From Under The Couch Had Like Alot Of Pee Stains On It And Blood Stains And It Smelled. So Me , My Wife And 2 Kids Had To Sleep In One Bed And Was Not Comfotable At All With Us In It. I Addressed It To The Lady At The Front Deal Of The Issue Of What Was Wrong And Also The Top Part Of The AC/ Heat Cover Came Off But Everything Else Was Okay.

We stayed four days and housekeeping never came, no fresh towels. All employees were very kind and friendly. The hotel was pretty clean for being under construction but the sheets didn’t fit the bed properly and had to be pulled back on several times throughout stay. Breakfast area was well kept and delicious.

This stay could be summed up : if it could go wrong, it did go wrong. Our first room was musty smelling and had no TV reception. A so-called maintenance man came to check on it, said he knew what was wrong and would be back; an hour and a half later never returned. The front desk moved us to another room, but the TV remote batteries were dead; had to replace them. In the shower the soap dispenser was empty. In trying to get some ice for our water bottles, ice machine empty. This will be our last stay here. And the room we were moved to was by the side entrance, so every one’s comings and goings were heard all night. And the first room had filthy carpet with pet stains and mold in the bathroom tub. All in all, a disaster!

This hotel is very convenient - right off 95. Tons of restaurants, stores, gas, etc. However this place is old, tired, and quite frankly dirty. The lobby and elevators looked like they hadn’t been mopped in weeks. The room was just ok- very musty, the sofa looked about a decade old and I wouldn’t touch it. The beds were small and uncomfortable. The room had only 1 towel and half used roll of toilet paper. There are a ton of hotels off 95. This one isn’t worth the stay.

Overall, this was a good experience, and I would stay there again. We had three adults in the room, but an insufficient number of bath linens which I had to go to the desk to get. In your room you could NOT control the air conditioner and it would fluctuate to very low during the night in up to 100 degrees weather outside. The TV’s were old and the remotes didn’t always work and there was no WiFi code to access and the system went down for streaming apps and we were told at the front desk there was nothing they could do. I will not stay there again. It’s not worth the money I spend.

Check in was slow. Two female clerks talked to each other while we waited to check in. The hallways smelled like smoke. When we got into the room, only one light worked and the TV said no signal. After 2 calls to front desk they answered and said “yeah, cable is down” Not worth the money for a subpar property.

Marriott needs to either hire additional housekeepers or ones who actually do their jobs at this location. The bathroom was gross. It looked like there was dried poop on the floor, so clearly, the floor hadn't been mopped. There was visible black mold/mildew in the corner of the tub. I also had to ask for toilet tissue and hand soap. The bathroom is old and in need of updating & while I can understand Marriott may not want to invest in having it updated, it should be clean.

Not enough light in the rooms. Hate that the hot tub is pictured on the website but was filled in. Worst hotel breakfast we’ve ever experienced — rotten fruit, dried bread, juice machine didn’t work, no syrup for waffles, etc. Person who checked us in was great. Had to switch one of the rooms because the AC wouldn’t work properly. I’m other words, we would’ve chosen somewhere else to stay.

We only stayed overnight to break up a long trip driving south. We normally stay in the Marriott so thought this would be comparable. It had a pull out bed under the couch seemed like it was never really cleaned had dirt and hair on it. My kids (2 kids) had to try and sleep comfortably onto of the couch together. the main bed mattress seemed so old and over used that it was not a good nights rest for me and my husband. Would not stay ever again.

It looks as if this hotel is getting ready for a facelift and it totally needs it. There are workers who are staying here and tile and bathtubs in the parking lot and the rooms all smell like smoke. Carpet is torn up in the hallways and the elevators are torn up. They should have let people know they are in the middle of a remodel and it’s not fit for travelers to stay at this time.

They were put in a handicap room that looked nothing like what had been reserved. Yhe room was also not well cleaned. Solid location, check in staff didn't care, check out staff was nice, renovations going on so that was good to see (no disturbances or noise for us), room was a little dirty - AC had crumbs in the control panel, someones old razor was still in the shower and some hair. TV was quiet on volume 100 for some reason - but Biggest complaint was we like it cold when we sleep and AC could never get the room cold even at the coldest setting. Not horrible place - just not impressive. Was ok for the price I suppose. Checkout staff was the best part - though that was only 1min of smiles and kindness :)

Had I read the reviews I would have seen the common theme: staff is great, hotel is terrible. I blame myself for trusting the Marriott brand and not reading the reviews, didn't think that was necessary. However, the Marriott SpringHill Suites Richmond North/Glen Allen proved me wrong. The website misrepresented the product.

The staff was awesome but the property upkeep absolutely needs attention. You have so many new hotels going up in that vicinity around the sports Center I hope you all are considering renovating the building. It just felt old and in need of repair.

The first room we got, the battery was out on the door and we couldn’t get in. Went back downstairs and they gave us a new room. Went in that room and things were broken and a piece that belonged in the door, was laying on the floor. Looked like the hotel was getting refurbished, but never saw anyone working on those refurbishments.

The outer doors to the hotel all around are unlocked and easily accessible. The front desk staff seems bothered to help and would not bring pillows to the room (the one bed had no pillows). The shampoo bottles are labeled with marker. The tub is in poor condition. One of the lamps has a dead light bulb. The sofa is hard as a rock. I’d leave if it wasn’t so much work. The pool smells SO musty, the water is not clear, the filter in the pool must be clogged or something as it keeps bubbling. There’s dirty towels all over the pool area, food spread all over the tables (left there for awhile). The indoor pool is why we booked this place, but I’d rather have no pool than deal with this place again. We had booked this place to stop at on the way back up from our trip, but we cancelled the reservation.

The hotel was in terrible condition. The first room was not able to have guests. Air not working. Carpet was drenched. Chair was broken and damaged. Fridge was frozen. Bathroom door would not close, broken switchplate. Closet door broken off. We asked for another room. They gave us one that had mold in the bath tub. They lady at the front desk was very nice. The breakfast was not good. Good coffee. The Springhill in Danbury, Connecticut is beautiful with a great breakfast.

UNHYGENIC! I requested a refund for my entire stay due to blood stains on sheets, hair on my bed, unclean and disgusting bathrooms and below average breakfast options. I honestly feared for my safety and health staying 2 out of 3 nights which I booked. I checked out early as did all my friends and family who were staying there one day early due to disgustingness of the facility. The staff was understanding, and changed my room, but changing rooms rooms didn’t help! The next room was just as bad. DISGUSTED!

The front desk staff graciously fixed a check in mistake that was completely my fault. They were beyond professional. They were just really nice people. The breakfast attendant was an absolute gem. She was friendly, funny, and efficient. She single-handedly kept the whole thing neat and moving along while checking in with each guest.

We stayed on the first level (not by choice) at the very end of the hallway (again, not by choice) right next to the side exit of the hotel. The lock on the door was broken, which meant that anyone could've entered the hotel from that exit without a key card. When we brought it up to the person at the front desk (more than once), we were told that it would be fixed, and during the five days that we were there, it wasn't. Perhaps if your staff treated this hotel like their own home, then safety would be more of a priority, and not just a request.

Coming in the room it was excellent. Could have used more lighting in certain areas. I moved the night stand to hook up my phone charger and I saw a sticky mouse trap. Went to the other side of the bed and moved the other night stand and saw a second mouse trap. This was kind of disgusting

It had a decent kitchen area with microwave, bar sink and small refrigerator. Despite hosting both national wheelchair basketball championship competitors and high school volleyball teams our room was quiet. The one noise problem was a constant drone from the bathroom. We made sure that our fan was off but there was still a constant drone like a fan was on all of the time.

No listings of breakfast times, tv channels, WiFi login, quiet time, or listings of restaurants/gas stations. This info could be given at checkin. I was on the second floor, sounded like people in rooms across from each other didn’t care how loud they were. Their kids were running up & down the corridor until a woman told them they were to loud & were disturbing other people.this was about 10:30 pm.

We had six rooms. All the rooms were dirty. One room had roaches; three rooms had ants. One room's door did not close properly. In three of the rooms, the lights did not work. The front desk staff were very nice. However, the general manager was very disrespectful and disregarded what happened. The hotel was falling apart.

Only shortcoming (which was minor) was that I struggled to get the TV to work and the bathroom could use some adjustments for an "accessible" room. The bathroom had plenty of space for a wheelchair or walker however, it had a bathtub rather than a roll in shower, which would have been more convenient.

My husband also requested clean towels and we were told we needed to bring our dirty towels down to the lobby and give them the front desk. How dirty and nasty! And to be clear we did not get towels during the night request. We waited until morning to see the nicer staff.
