Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its location, pool, and staff. However, there are consistent complaints about the condition of the rooms and hidden fees.
- Great location
- Nice pool
- Rooms need updating
- Hidden fees
- 5/5
All rooms have balconies (has a small table and two chairs) facing the beach. The bracelet bands opens your hotel room and amenities, as well as you can use at the restaurants and bar. They have a Starbucks on-site. They have movie nights. The one thing is parking isn’t included in the fee, it’s separate fee. Dogs are under 55 pds are welcomed, with a fee, they also have a small gated dog park. I really enjoyed this hotel.
- 5/5
Always peaceful and easy there. If you got the money honey they have the time
- 4/5
Is a very nice hotel but for the price I expected it would have more easily accessible amenities. No checking in early, you have wrist bands that open your door but cannot be used to tell anyone at the pool bar that you are a hotel guest and can charge to your room so remember to take ID to the pool with you, pool water was heated (I hope it was heated!) which was an odd choice for June in TX, and almost all the pool chairs appear to be reserved for the cabanas. Valet and room service were both great! Just if you are going for the pool and the swim up bar, it was a bit disappointing.
- 2/5
Rooms were not as nice as expected. Hotel is beautiful but the rooms seem dated and very old.
- 5/5
We were in Galveston for a quick over night stay and was told by someone to check St Luis out that it was nice!! I got on Expedia and booked it for the night. The recommendation did not disappoint!!!! We were there from about 4 in the afternoon and left the next morning. While we were there we strolled the beach which is right in front of the resort. Then we enjoyed the pool and the hot tub at the resort as well as a couple of drinks. The service was very nice around the pool and hot tub as well as the room service!! I highly recommend St Luis Resort in Galveston!!!
- 5/5
The pool area was one of our favorite parts of the resort, beautiful, inviting, and perfect for spending the day soaking up the sun. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, professional, and went above and beyond to make our stay special. The restaurants on-site were excellent, with delicious food and great service. The location is also perfect, with easy access to the beach and everything Galveston has to offer. Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or a weekend escape, I highly recommend staying at The San Luis Resort, Spa and Conference Center. We can’t wait to come back!
- 3/5
Loved the property. We were given an adjoining room which we didn’t request and not asked if it was ok when we checked in. There was a sorority get together that night, and the adjoining room was given to four women, that were very loud from about 10:00PM until early hours of the morning. We complained and nothing was done about it.
- 4/5
The hotel was nice however there were children running around and staff did not tell them to not run and pool was dirty and messy. Room was nice just smelled musty and walls looked like they needed a nice touch up!
- 5/5
Everything was great
- 5/5
The room was very clean and comfortable. We stayed on the 10th floor, which is adults only. It included in-room breakfast both mornings, plus chocolates, fruit and fresh coffee. Loved all the extras! The swim up bar at the pool was the best. This was just what I needed, a relaxing getaway where I didn't have to worry about a thing!
- 5/5
Staff was really friendly especially the valet guys!
- 5/5
This is my new favorite hotel. The location is perfect for me.. right acrossed the street from the beach.. there’s not a lot of people that are not guests hanging around the property or the pool so I feel safe staff is beyond professional room service was hit and fresh when it arrived to my room at 11pm laundry was fresh pressed and completed by early morning for us to start a new day swimming pool was so clean and warm and the servers around the pool bring u food and drinks promptly Krogers and many restaurants within walking distance to the hotel They don’t have access to golf carts or e-bikes
- 5/5
I love the outdoor pool and the staff was awesome and amazing I can’t wait to get a chance to go again, probably the only place I will stay at

Staff was super friendly. Great service.

Location is good and restaurants/cafes in the facility is convenient. The property markets itself as a resort, but in reality it operates more like a standard hotel with very limited resort-style amenities. The pool is surprisingly small for the number of guests and feels inadequate for a property of this size. One of the biggest frustrations was the pool area management. Most of the front-row loungers around the pool were marked as reserved and unavailable to regular guests. In addition, there were only a few complimentary umbrellas available for everyone else, leaving many guests exposed to the intense sun. The loungers were also placed extremely close together, making the area feel crowded and uncomfortable. The staff work hard and are generally polite, but some practices felt intrusive. Employees repeatedly tried to collect guests' sandals and place them in a communal storage box used by hundreds of people, which raised hygiene concerns for us. We were also approached very frequently and encouraged to order additional drinks and services, to the point where it felt more like sales pressure than hospitality. The room itself was also disappointing. While the bed was comfortable and appeared clean, the carpet was noticeably dirty and had debris and stains in several areas. Storage space was extremely limited as well—the closet was so narrow that it was barely functional, making it difficult to hang clothing or properly unpack for our stay. Overall, the property did not deliver the resort experience that its branding suggests, and the pool facilities and room condition were particularly disappointing.

The swim-up bar as an adult only area was great! Front desk and valet staff were very courteous and helpful. The room was clean - we loved that each room faced the ocean.

I have been staying at this property for 30 years and it only gets better each year. Excellent restaurants, shopping and relaxing!

- 5/5
Great location and staff was very professional.
- 5/5
Loved our stay! The service at the restaurants could be better, but overall would return!
- 4/5
We reserved a corner suite . They put us on the one before the last room ( not a corner ) bathrooms in those suites are larger than the one we stayed at . Also the room is bigger with a lounge area . That is really my only concern . Everything else was great .

- 5/5
Great service ! Clean rooms ! Great valet team very helpful
- 5/5
The hotel is clean, beautifully decorated, has a pool and bar area, shops with great clothing and accessories, kind, patient, respectful, and helpful staff. My room was spacious, cleaned daily, had a great ocean view, and had double sinks in the bathroom. It is close to the ocean with a great view and is also close to nearby restaurants. I truly enjoyed my stay. I highly recommend the San Luis Resort and Spa in Galveston, TX.
- 4/5
The hotel staff were very pleasant and always helpful with a smile and enthusiasm. Plenty of options for dining. The hotel had cute decor and activities planned for the holiday weekend. On another note, the rooms were dated and need a refresh. The bed felt as old and my husband and I kept rolling towards the center of the mattress. Not the hotels fault, but the seaweed on the beach in front of the hotel was gross. It would be a nice addition if they could keep that part of the beach cleaned up for the guests.
- 4.5/5
Great view from a high floor loved the size and space. Helpful and friendly staff. Nice walks on Seawall Blvrd, Grotto restaurant very good. Nothing in particular I would say if you want to explore Downtown Galveston on foot the resort is a little too far to walk directly but there is plenty of parking downtown.
- 4.5/5
Beautiful resort and sea view. Would have liked more kcups coffee in room.

San Luis resort and spa-is one of my most favorite places to go and all the world. I go there once a year for sure sometimes twice.
- 5/5
Everything was beautiful
- 5/5
One of our favorite touches was Phydias, the macaw in the main lobby, who greeted and interacted with us daily and added such a unique and memorable charm to the experience. The pool area and lounging spaces were equally impressive — spotless, relaxing, and staffed by some of the most attentive and friendly employees we’ve encountered at any resort. The on-site dining at Blake’s Bistro was truly outstanding. We ate there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner throughout our stay because the food was simply that good. Every dish tasted genuinely five-star — far beyond typical resort dining. From appetizers to entrées, every meal was fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared. I intentionally ordered something different each time, and every single dish exceeded expectations. My wife and kids loved everything as well, making this an incredibly family-friendly destination. The location is also perfect. The Seawall and beach access are just minutes away, along with plenty of nearby restaurants and attractions.
- 5/5

Our recent stay at the San Luis Resort, Spa, and Conference Center was awesome. While the resort exhibits some signs of aging, it is meticulously maintained and immaculate. The resort is pet-friendly, and the staff is courteous. The food was great. However, the parking fees for valet and self-parking are excessively high for the area. Despite this minor inconvenience, I would likely consider returning for a future stay.
- 5/5
I was thoroughly impressed with this property and my stay at the San Luis resort! The property entry way leading to the front desk area is absolutely stunning! We enjoyed being out by the pool nightly by the fire pit. The staff was extremely friendly, however we absolutely loved the hospitality from pool bartender Lacey and pool help Ryder, and also Bistro morning server, Shakira! They were awesome and made the stay even better. You have to try Lacey’s piña colada, chef’s kiss and the Bistro homemade cinnamon rolls. We will most definitely be returning for a longer stay this year!

Great resort.
- 5/5
This was our second stay and we enjoyed ourselves. Great Restaurants, Shops and a fantastic pool. Friendly employees are all around and make the atmosphere feel like a resort.
- 5/5
Everyone and everything was amazing from the time I stepped out of my vehicle to the time I left to come home. The room was nice and the staff was great the entire time. Some of them even memorized my name and that felt like money well spent. The breakfast was perfect and the crab and shrimp cheesecake from the Steakhouse made my day. Every view from my room, the courtyard, even the pool and hot tub--breathtaking. I would definitely go back!

The hotel is nice, very clean; the pool is very welcoming, and the staff is super friendly. The corner rooms are a great option, offering extra space in the room and the bathroom. The emergency door next to the corner rooms is very noisy, bangs very hard, and wakes me up a couple of times.

Music was playing from the hotel lobby until 2AM and we were on the 7th floor. We were unable to go to sleep because of this. I called the front desk and the staff said they had no control over the volume of the music for their guests.
- 5/5
We had a great stay at the San Luis Resort. We loved the pool and swim-up bar, and the steakhouse was excellent. The room had beautiful views, and breakfast in bed was a perfect touch. We’d definitely come back!

They give a room when we got there it wasnt ready so i had to come back to front desk and wait to get it clean also i booked for 4 person and the room had only 1 king bed, about the pool it was full then i had to pay for a cabans they charge $380 for for half day nothing inluided i did not mentioned i psy more than $800 a night for that room and it was just a simple room..that is crazy

I went down for a wedding. I confirmed the room and let them know the bridal party, including me, would probably be returning later that evening after the wedding When we got to the hotel, they had given my room away. They offered to try to get me a room at another facility at 2am. The entire wedding party was staying together at this hotel and we were leaving at 6 o'clock in the morning from this hotel so that was not an option. We all had to cram in other rooms. I was not the only one in our party with an issue with a room that was given away. They even gave away the parents of the bride's room which was booked months and months in advance. The staff afterwards was able to get me a refund, but it did not help that evening. I was very upset because I was a woman alone. I feel like it was very professional
- 5/5
Very nice. Would stay again.
- 5/5
Favorite place to stay in Galveston.
- 5/5
This was our first trip to Galveston, so we were unsure of what to expect. This resort was great! Everyone was nice and helpful. Food was amazing. The rooms were a bit dated, but clean and spacious. If we ever go back to Galveston, this would be the only place we would stay!
- 4/5
There are not enough regular lounge chairs or umbrellas because most loungers are for the cabana rentals--$700. Yes, you read that right.
- 5/5
Excellent hotel!
- 5/5
The best part was definitely the pool. Seating is limited as a lot of it is reserved for the cabanas. We loved our waitress Paulina! She made a huge difference in our experience and literally didn’t stop checking in on us.
- 5/5
the penhouse
- 5/5
Great place, will stay again
- 5/5
Yes the poolside was amazing and our view from our room was everything
- 5/5
The San Luis Resort is a great choice if you’re looking for a relaxing, upscale stay in Galveston. It’s especially ideal for couples or anyone wanting a resort-style getaway without leaving Texas. I’d definitely consider staying here again.
- 4/5
Great hotel but when I booked online, and paid in full, the resort wanted to charge me an extra $70 for SELF parking and resort fees. Sorry, but self parking should be free, and ALL fees should have been included in my online booking. It's a bit deceitful when I pay $500 online to then be charged more fees at the hotel at checkout.
- 1/5
Buyer beware. While the location is excellent, the overall experience was extremely disappointing. The atmosphere felt chaotic and poorly managed, with a rowdy clientele that made the property feel more like a budget motel than a high-end resort. This is not a family-friendly environment—I did not feel comfortable using the pool, and noise was a constant issue throughout the stay. The mattress offered no real support, as every spring could be felt. I had to contact staff multiple times due to disturbances, including a continuously barking dog and loud neighbors, one of whom made aggressive verbal threats. For a property at this price point, the experience was unacceptable.
- 5/5
Loved it
- 3/5
Our room was very noisy this time .It seemed that a generator was on all night .We stayed in the 16th floor and it seemed that the generator was on the roof fairly close to us .dont know what happened this time ,we usually stay here .
- 5/5
Love it is always consistently good
- 5/5
Great!
- 5/5
One of my favorite parts was the pool area, it’s beautiful and such a relaxing spot to spend time. The atmosphere is perfect whether you want to lounge in the sun or take a refreshing swim. The drinks were also fantastic, delicious, well-made, and a great complement to the overall experience. Overall, it was a lovely stay, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean, beautiful place to relax and enjoy their time.
- 4/5
Corner room with ocean view. Bathroom could use some work. Curtains out of tract. Waited 40 minutes for room to be ready. Desk person was very apologetic and attentive.

I always stay at San Luis when visiting Galveston. The staff extremely professional and courteous. The rooms spotless. It’s a hotel that literally has everything that you need. And the view it just doesn’t get any better.
- 5/5
We have a house on the island so never stay anywhere.
- 5/5
Great atmosphere! Had so much fun!
- 3/5
Stay here but be sure to ask for a room that isn’t above an event room. We were given the room above the band that played until 2 a.m. They changed our room at 1 a.m. for us but wish we could’ve just started there.

- 5/5
Great hotel and staff! Will be back!
- 5/5
Valet was amazing, breakfast was always great! Easy access to the beach and the Strand, we had such a rreat time there.
- 3/5
Older resort, reasonable condition for its age. Bathroom has mold, and room carpet was worn. Unacceptable for a property that is close to $500/night Food and staff were very good. The property is past its prime however in reasonable shape.
- 3/5
The bathroom was not very clean. There was alot of hair in the corners and water spots on the mirror. When we asked about nike rentals, your front desk clerk explained theybwere only for guests staying at the resort and not for public use....clearly judging us. We kindly explained we are guests at the resort. The sheets were like paper and blankets were not soft at all. There was an expectation due to the "resort" category and the price we paid for 2 nights.
- 5/5
Your hotel is spot-on!
- 5/5
clean, frei
- 5/5
Was very helpful. Had a problem with my bill, and it was fix quickly
- 5/5
Entrance was so pretty. Still had Christmas decor. Felt so grand. Pool was heated. Hot tubs, swim up bar. Fire pit. Adult only area. Views great. Our window pane needed replaced as fogged up.
- 5/5
Excellent property, attentive staff, clean, cold rooms, nice resort pool area, and great onsite food. Couldn't have asked for more!
- 5/5
Best weekend away with the swim up bar is always a hit!
- 5/5
Service was amazing hotel extremely clean and gorgeous inside and out. Pool is heated. We swam for new years when it was cold
- 5/5
Wonderful hotel. So pretty at Christmas time.
- 5/5
Absolutely beautiful resort. First time to eat at the Steakhouse. What a treat!
- 5/5
Staff was super helpful and courteous. The pool was amazing. Definitely will be coming back.
- 2/5
Room.was noisy (air-condition). Rest room had sliding door, poor design for such an expensive room ($570) per night stay.
- 5/5
Thank you Tillman for always keeping your hotel a priority! I had no idea how beautiful the renovations were. And I am a tough critic. It’s so dear to so many Houstonians…thank you for keeping our memories alive ❤️
- 5/5
Amazing stay at the San Luis for New Years Eve! The dine in room options were convenient, quick, and delicious. My husband got the half rack of ribs which were truly fall off the bone. My bistro burger was flavorful and huge. We spent the evening in the Cove pool that was heated to perfection until about 11pm, that was the only downside since it was open until 1am which was a huge bonus. The drinks at the swim up Cove bar were delicious, even the mocktails were absolutely delicious and my husband raved on the regular cocktails, the view from our PH balcony room was gorgeous watching the fireworks on the beach at midnight. The breathtaking sunrise view did not disappoint either. We are already planning a trip back. Thank you for the wonderful service and stay. Happy New Year!
- 5/5
Amazing as always
- 5/5
Always go during Xmas time with my family to stay a weekend and enjoy the shows, the lites and Santa’s breakfast always great clean and friendly.
- 4/5
Good but overpriced
- 4/5
The room was ok needs some updates done in the bathroom no exhaust fan shower was hard to get into needs to be a walk in not a tub. The room was very damp because of the humid weather I’m sure but it was uncomfortable and the biggest problem was the door to the patio did not lock it was broken so we couldn’t lock it. The staff was nice the hotel was beautiful with Christmas lights and trees it was very pretty
- 5/5
Yes. Room and staff very nice. Beautiful hotel. Didn't appreciate having to pay "resort fee" sine I didn't use ANY of those amenities.
- 2/5
The swimming pool heaters were not working. This was the whole reason we decided to book at the San Luis.
- 5/5
The pool area was extremely inviting. The only issue was the area that was corded for the cabana rentals that was never rented but those seats were not available. Everything else was spot on.
- 5/5
Excellent service! Very clean room!
- 5/5
Amazing people and beautiful place
- 5/5
Overall a great facility, amenities and staff.

One of the nicest Resorts you can find!!!
- 5/5
Great location for great food!
- 4/5
The daytime staff were awesome. The night time staff was just okay. The cove bartender was more interested in playing her crossword puzzle. The rooms were nice. But the bed was like laying on cardboard. Great view of the beach. Nice private balcony.
- 5/5
Loved the property. Beautiful. Staff was excellent. Very professional and friendly. Will definitely be back.
- 5/5
Amazing staff, great pool
- 5/5
convenient location
- 5/5
I enjoyed the stay! I loved the views, inside and out. The food was amazing and drinks as well.
- 5/5
Awesome as always! The pool/hot tub was very relaxing. The restaurants always please and the staff made us feel at home.
- 3/5
The room was fine, there was a nice view, and good amenities, but it was not worth the price. The bed was very uncomfortable and sagged in the middle, so it was like sleeping on an incline. Not acceptable for a $500+ per night room
- 4/5
The resort is amazing. The only thing was house keeping. In our blankets we found some long black hairs and part of someones eyelash extensions.
- 4/5
Only drawback was the cleanliness of the bathroom. Just not quite up to high standards in detail. ie. shower ceiling in corner needed attention. Looked like bubbling due to a leak. (we reported this to front desk). And areas in shower door hinges were black, and mirror lighting frame needed attention. Otherwise, room was clean and no complaints. Would definitely return.
- 5/5
This was a wonderful stay, always wanted to stay here and got a chance to bring my mom for a birthday weekend. The pool was heated definitely a plus, great food and service all around. The beach across the street and ocean view all around. Not to mention great food places close by. This place should definitely be on your bucket list.
- 5/5
Everything was great!
- 1/5
I had, but it’s experience in one of the restaurant which it was bistro. Food is amazing, but the service was not good at all.. they treat me like I was someone that I’m not gonna take care my behavior. They called the police in the police took me to the station and I didn’t do anything to anybody..
- 3/5
Room was ok,pool was fine. The San Luis is very expensive & has a lot of hidden fees!
- 5/5
Thank you! I highly recommend, the staff and bell man were exceptional! Food and drinking options were great! Our room was fabulous with ocean view

- 5/5
As a person who grew up not in a whealthy environment thinking hopeful i dont get treated differently i was gladly satisfied with the respectful staff and overall amazing experience i will be coming back again thank you
- 5/5
The staff was very nice throughout the hotel—from valet, to check in, to restaurants, etc. The room was clean so I did not mind it was a little bit of an older property. The food was good here as well. We enjoyed the poolside offerings as well as the food from the restaurants. There is even an option to get ice cream at the coffee bar next to the pool. The bar at the pool also had good drinks. However, please remember to bring your ID with you while you are swimming to be served. The pool was very nice and heated so my kids were happy to stay in the water into the night. The resort is conveniently located next to the beach. You are able to walk down the steps off the pool area, cross the streets and be at the beach. This is a nice resort for a quick in town romantic stay or a local break for families. It is very peaceful here. I enjoyed my stay and definitely plan on coming again.
- 4/5
Nice staff and accommodations. Small rooms and pillows uncomfortable but would stay again
- 4/5

- 5/5
Did not like bracelet for ID and room key
- 5/5
Spent my weekend there to get away and it was perfect. Everyone was nice The pool was heated in my room was comfortable.
- 3/5
Was disappointed when we got there the room was dirty! The bed was not made and the toilet was used and not flushes there was disgusting. Went down to the front to inform them and all they did was give us another room and upon walk in with the bellboy present the room was as filthy as the first! Towels on the floor and beds not made trashy it was very disappointing AGAIN!!! Went down to the front and they did apologize and give us another room but no incentives for our inconvenience of having to move rooms!!!! It's not like the rooms are cheap Expected better from the hotel. We will not be staying there again it ruined the stay for us. Staff doing valet was very friendly and helpful. Hotel is beautiful and love the views.

Clean room! Staff was Excellent! Wonderful massage and a great yoga instructor!
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
Clean, nice amenities and directly across from the beach. Room was spacious but needs updating like Ian plugs and better WiFi.
- 5/5
Rooms need updating. Especially bathrooms
- 5/5
I love it
- 2/5
The unique thing about the property is all rooms face the Gulf. The thing l didn’t enjoy was that residents did not have exclusive rights to the dining facilities. The personnel that worked these areas were quick to say NO.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel!!! We are from Houston and have been going to Galveston for 30 years and this was the Best stay we’ve ever had in Galveston (and best time of year! Not hot, no seaweed, not crowded, not sticky, flowers in bloom!).
- 3/5
Sun Luis Resort was always better than Galvez, but not anymore. And the price doesn't match the luxury it offers.
- 5/5
Beach, Ocean View and Resort Pool
- 5/5
Amazing experience! Booked the room for relaxation, view and beach access. Loved it!
- 5/5
Everything was great. The Spot is only about a 7 min drive and Katie’s seafood is about a 20 min drive. The staff and resort were very great and has a great bar at the pool.
- 5/5
What a fabulous place! You won’t want to l ave! Loved everything including the sweet parrot Phidias, who makes his home there and who stays in his huge cage in the lobby. We feel spoiled and will be back as soon as we can!!!
- 4/5
Unfortunately, there was a longer waiting time at check-in and checkout. It seemed like the staff wasn’t prepared for a larger amount of guests to check in at the typical check in time which was disappointed. Only two registers were open.
- 5/5
Hotel was beautiful and the restaurants were amazing. Had a great time!
- 5/5
Beautiful and aesthetically pleasing property that is conveniently located walking distance to the beach. Beautiful views from every part of the hotel!
- 4/5
Rooms need updating. Elevators had long waits. Screaming kids were everywhere.
- 4/5
Room was ok
- 5/5
Loved it. Much nicer than photos, if you can believe that! Will return.
- 5/5
Excellent, we enjoyed the pool balcony.
- 5/5
Love the whole property! Pool and dining was great.
- 4/5
The pool and view were amazing , but the rooms are in desperate need of renovation!! Everything in the room is old and outdated, please renovate!
- 5/5
We liked everything. Everything was perfect from the valet, front desk (check-in, check-out, Q&A, assistance), pool-bar, amenities, room, balcony, restaurants, ice & coffeshop, staff at all places and moments and - price. We'll keep it as our escape place from time to time. Highy recommended! Would love to attach some pictures ...
- 5/5
We came here for our honeymoon the tenth floor is definitely the way to go
- 5/5
Great Ocean View
- 5/5
Beautiful
- 5/5
I would highly recommend this resort. The management is great. It's always clean. I ordered room service and the food was great.
- 5/5
Ac a tad noisy but great stay!!
- 5/5
It was a beautiful resort. The view of the ocean was amazing.
- 5/5
Fun place for a quick girls getaway.
- 3/5
Beautiful grounds, lobby, drive up and location. The front desk staff is great but the majority if the staff doesn’t fluently speak English. When ordering room service the attendant on the phone couldn’t articulate well, the cleaning staff when asked to return in 5 minutes didn’t understand and when she returned we asked to return at 10am said she didn’t understand. At the pool when we got ordered but didn’t know our room number despite producing ID we were told to go to the front desk. When we ordered from the steakhouse (which is usually wonderful) the fish was old, overcooked and inedible. The premises are wonderful. However when we went to receive our vehicle from valet with our luggage they looked at our luggage and just handed us our keys. Again the premise are wonderful but the staff needs training and to be articulate in English.
- 5/5
Wonderful- Relaxing!!
- 5/5
Beach view, pool, service was excellent. Super comfortable bed.
- 4/5
Great hotel but they do have a lot of rules but for the most part they are reasonable to keep the riff raff out
- 5/5
Fantastic facility, friendly staff, superb view, easy access to everything!
- 3/5
We had a standard room and the bed and pillows were awful! The pool needs some attention and they only had 2 umbrellas up and the rest you had to pay for!
- 5/5
I enjoyed everything this resort had to offer! Wonderful staff
- 4/5
This is a beautiful beachfront resort, especially the entryway & lobby area. We arrived later than expected late at night, & the front desk clerk was super nice & accommodating. We stayed 2 nights because we were going on a cruise. Although the room was spacious & had a balcony, for the money we paid, the rooms could have used a lot of updating & touch-up on finishes. We randomly had a leak coming from the ceiling, & water was everywhere. Maintenance arrived within a decent time & fixed the problem. The swimming pool/bar was beautiful scenery; however, while swimming with my family, we noticed a resident mouse several times running out under the lawn chairs where people were sitting, food/drinks, & their personal items were near. It came out & would run back in hiding. My husband told one of the bartenders near, & she nonchalantly said, “We are near the beach, we can’t really control that!“ Umm, as a guest that stayed 2 nights & paid over $700, I do not want to see mice running around the swimming pool!! Set traps, get an exterminator! That was definitely off putting! Other than that, we loved the beach was across the street, complimentary bike rentals to ride along the beach & RainForest Cafe was in walking distance along with other food places and shops. Also, we loved the option of activities for guest. They had movie night, one night they played Little Mermaid, & the next night out of all things, Ratatouille. One day they had s'mores in the lobby. I would stay here again.
- 3/5
It was good but when i get here they told me that the room wasnt ready for checking so I had to wait around a hour but everything else was good. Good location
- 4/5
I was looking forward to my early check-in, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out as planned. I ended up waiting until almost 4:40 to check in. I enjoyed sitting in the Bistro Restaurant while I waited for my room on the 10th floor, though!
- 4/5
Filthy. I believe new equipment is in store the filtration system is definitely not working. I felt like we were in human sludge! Yuk.
- 5/5
great stay
- 5/5
Great Hotel didn’t know it was only 45 minutes outside of Houston and I would have stayed the 4 nights instead of 1
- 5/5
Friendly and accommodating staff, very clean, beautiful property.
- 5/5
Luxurious Customer focused staff Great beach view Great pool and staff services The best spa experience Restaurant choices are excellent Breakfast room service is tops & food was delicious
- 5/5
Everything about this stay was great. The people at front desk were super friendly and offered us an amazing upgrade. Many food and shopping options. Pool experience and swim up bar was a great experience and is open late. Each room has a beautiful view. Highly recommend
- 3/5
Onsite restaurants are great. The staff is friendly and kind. The bed was horrible -- slept on hard springs and thin bedding. The pool was the worst I've ever seen there before -- very cloudy, and left a grey coating on swimmers. The jacuzzi had a dirt ring in it. Pretty gross!
- 5/5
We really liked the property and ir is well maintained, but the 10th floor rooms are in desperate need of refresh. The 10th floor rooms do not reflect the ambiance of the rest of the resort. When you arrive at the resort you immediately get the impression of a luxurious hotel that carries from the entrance to the desk, to the pool area, the restaurants, and the lobby, but when the rooms on the 10th floor you immediately notice that the rooms no longer represent the luxury of the rest of the hotel. We still had a great time and found all of the hotel, pool, and dining associates to be professional, friendly, and helpful. We are looking to our next stay and yes we will be staying on the adults only 10th floor.
- 5/5
Great spot! Great restaurants, great staff!
- 4/5
No waters in the room 😉
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel. Excellent staff.
- 4/5
Nice but bathrooms need an upgrade for sure
- 3/5
Hotel room bathroom wasn’t very clean. Ordered breakfast to be delivered to our room and never received it…. Thought they would fix the situation but never did. Other than that vallet service was excellent and the guys that work the department are tentative to their guests and great.
- 2/5
This property is very dated. For the cost, the expereince was sub par. Of particular disappointment was the pool and pool bar.. dirty and the drinks were bad.
- 5/5
Always a great experience
- 5/5
Favorite place in Galveston because of the pool/pool bar and corner rooms
- 5/5
The staff here was absolutely amazing! My family had the best time!
- 5/5
Lovely property!
- 3/5
I expected the rooms to be sound proof but unfortunately it was not. If you love pelicans there are so many flying right in front of your balcony.
- 3/5
The hotel was okay but not worth the money that they charge
- 4/5
II booked an ocean view room three months in advance, but when I arrived at the reception, they attempted to give me a standard room with no view. Fortunately, I asked to confirm the room type before accepting the keys. Only then did they request that I show proof of my original booking. This was extremely inconvenient—especially since I had reserved the room well in advance. I should not have had to deal with such an issue regarding the room type I clearly booked.
- 4/5
Good all the way around.
- 5/5
It was a wonderful family trip to Galveston. The San Luis was excellent once again! We appreciate the kindness of the staff, and how they take pride of keeping the rooms and the hotel so clean.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay at San Luis and will be back! We’ve stayed in Galveston several times and we’ve now decided we will stay at the San Luis every time! The staff were awesome! The hotel is nice and very convenient for dining options and the beach! The pool was amazing! We stayed in a VIP Executive room on the 16th floor and the view was amazing! The room was clean (and I’m picky about that)! I did not feel the need to do my own clean to our room prior to using everything (which I usually do)! The room was nice, not the fanciest, but nice. The walls, bathroom could use some updating but all the positives definitely outweigh the cosmetic updates needed to the property. I will definitely be back. It was me, my husband and our 11 year old kiddo and we all thoroughly enjoyed our visit!
- 5/5
The property was like a resort in Mexico, only closer. I recommend this to anybody for a weekend getaway.
- 3/5
Unless I tipped heavily it was hard to get my car
- 1/5
Was treated very poorly when we arrived. We couldn't park and off load our bags. We were told to park around in the back of the resort and check in from there. The Back?! That was not a good first impression which set the tone for the visit. The staff arguing with their customer. Was called on our cellphone and told us that the Resort security was driving the resort and saw a towel haning off of our balcony. What?! It was very difficult to even go the balcony. Sorry to say it wasnt us. That towel hung on the balcony for 2 says. The rooms need an update. Almost hurt my leg with the low toilets. AC wouldn't fully cool the rooms unless you closed off the bathroom. Old appliances. Rust om the bottom of the refrigerator. I didn't use it but I think it was leaking. Mold on the furniture and something white on the windows. Not sure what it was but you couldn't pull back the drapes. 5 🌟 Resort. I will give it a 2. Anyway, Happy Birthday 🎂 to my wife.
- 5/5
Excellent location near the beach. Nice balcony view from our room on the 14th floor. Staff was extremely nice. I highly recommend this resort.
- 3/5
Nice facilities. Good staff. Just need to be upfront with resort fees and overnight parking.
- 3/5
Very beautiful property, life long memories and conveniently located to the beach and other walkable attractions. Given the price, you’re paying for the location not the service of employees and amenities. The spa was small but nice, Sheron, Angie & Cindy were very sweet.
- 5/5
Very good service, clean, friendly staff, and great food
- 5/5
Excellent stay!
- 4/5
This is the second time I’ve been here, this resort is gorgeous and my husband and I always enjoy our time here. The only issue was our original room’s floor was wet and soapy and had fresh bbq or ketchup on nightstands. Once I let the receptionist know the issue she took care of it right away moving us to a different room. They have some of the best ocean view rooms, customer service is always top tier and it’s nice and quiet. Very peaceful
- 5/5
10th floor rocked, thanks, rwcoleman
- 5/5
San Luis is a gorgeous and clean hotel. Staff was wonderful. Amenities were fabulous. Will be back for sure.
- 5/5
More than what we expected. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurants was delicious, maybe a bit overpriced. Overall we would stay here again.
- 3/5
Overrated and over priced for the outdated rooms
- 5/5
However, one issue we encountered was with valet parking. When we booked through Expedia, it was advertised as free valet parking, but we were charged upon arrival. When we spoke to the front desk, they informed us that they have repeatedly asked Expedia to remove that claim, as valet is not complimentary. Unfortunately, Expedia continues to list it incorrectly. Just a heads-up for future guests — be aware that valet is not free, despite what some third-party sites may advertise.
- 5/5
Really nice
- 3/5
Property staff was rude and dismissive but the hotel and amenities are amazing
- 5/5
Also, got engaged there too !!
- 5/5
Top tier hospitality and the food is amazing! Property is as nice and luxury as anything you can visit across the world.
- 5/5
“Great place to stay” simple words!
- 5/5
Great Customer Service and great amenities
- 5/5
The staff was Exceptional!! Starting with Management, the Agents even the Valet, Everyone was Genuinely Gracious and Professional!!
- 2/5
This property is over priced and needs repairs on AC and varies areas . The food isn’t good ! I called ahead of time to makes changes and the person told me it would be taken care of it wasn’t . It was my sister’s birthday so she was really excited only for her AC in her room to be dripping almost causing her to fall . The manager Connie tried to help in some way but I don’t feel it was enough just giving a snack voucher and taking care of the parking . I’m sure it doesn’t matter but I won’t be back to this property. It’s just over priced and under delivered for me .

I am completely and utterly livid right now. I made reservations and paid for my rooms in advance which should have included all fees. When I got there to check in the tell me that have to give them a credit card for all incidentals which is standard I know. So I tell them ok use the card I paid with. The man tells me my card was declined. I’m like what the hell there is no way. I thought well maybe it’s my card thinking it’s fraud or something. So I gave him another card. They did not give me a receipt when I left after I asked them for one. They couldn’t print it so they were supposed to email it to me. Get home no email. Then I logon to my credit card to see why it was declined. Guess what it wasn’t declined. I look at the other credit card and lo and behold it’s charged also. So I call them. The lady on the phone says the charges will drop off in 5-10 days. It didn’t take 5-10 days to charge me twice. It also didn’t take 5-10 days to misrepresent what I was being charged for. I was told I was being charge 100.00 dollars a day for incidentals. Then I’m looking and I was charged 480.00 instead of 400.00. So when I called they tell me well there is a 20.00 resort fee too. You booked through a third party so it wasn’t included in what you prepaid. I hate people trying to rip me off. I also hate being lied too.
- 5/5
Only one slight inconvenience - the ice machine on our floor did not work the whole time that we were there. We just went to a different floor.
- 5/5
I absolutely loved this resort! The room was spotless, the staff were friendly, and room service was fast and efficient. The hot water was perfect, and the pool area was stunning—gave me total Cancun vibes as I relaxed with my feet up. I’ll definitely be coming back! Danielle checked us out and she was so sweet and bubbly—keep up the great work, girly!
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay, the pool and bar staff were great, our room had a beautiful ocean view, great location!
- 5/5
Best hotel on the island !
- 5/5
Very beautiful hotel! Staff is friendly and very clean.
- 5/5
Very nice amenities
- 1/5
Terrible experience. Management has a long way to go with this place and It needs a facelift especially for the price. No one and i mean no one knows anything. I will say the only thing that ill give 5 stars was the steakhouse, Carlos, was our server and he was incredible. Everything else 1-2 stars.
- 3/5
It was expensive and didn’t stand up to the hype
- 5/5
The property is a premier hotel in the city of Galveston, Texas.
- 5/5
Hospitality was great! Beautiful resort, great food and relaxing atmosphere.
- 5/5
Nice hotel and great location
- 5/5
Great luxury hotel with great restaurants. Had anniversary dinner at The Steakhouse and it was fine dinning at its finest. The pool was large with plenty of chairs and also had a section of chairs to tan away from the pool. The tablet in the room let you order room service, towels, or make reservations. They have an IHOP and Rainforrest cafe adjacent to the property part of the property. With the wristbands I could open room, access property amenities, and pay using the wristband.
- 2/5
Our view was terrible and the doorway to the balcony would lock. Our fridge had some kind of growth at the bottom of it and the bed messed up my back every day we stayed there. The pillows were nice, the staff was very friendly and the facilities were nice but I will not be staying there again.
- 5/5
Customer service
- 5/5
Nothing amazing
- 5/5
We loved our stay! The staff was absolutely amazing and really went above to help our family. Loved the location and especially the pool with the poolside bar. Only complaint would be lack of shade if you were not in a cabana. On site restaurants we great, especially the Grotto.
- 5/5
I really love this hotel resort. I have a three month newborn and we really enjoyed it. We were provided a crib. I really liked Skyler the guy who checked us in. He was very accommodating. I would definitely come back and will be coming back with my whole family next month. I love the rooms and the restrooms very clean. I love that they have Starbucks and restaurants and the pool is really cool. Swim a bar for adult OK?
- 5/5
The resort was so beautiful and the staff was amazing and super welcoming to our family.
- 5/5
Excellent staffing and service. We ate at all 3 restaurants and they were fabulous! Thanks for a great getaway!
- 5/5
Very nice, clean
