Way too loud and no view of the ocean in the room they put me in. But overall a good bargain if you want a clean room. Just luck trying to get some sleep

I stayed here for one night for a cruise I had the following day I was across the street from Galveston Beach and a short walk down to Bubba Gump Shrimp. Even though it was hot outside the wi d from the beach was really nice. I will definitely be back anytime I have a cruise in Galveston. Staff was polite.

The first thing I noticed was a flying cockroach in my room, which immediately raised concerns about cleanliness. The room door was extremely difficult to open. I had to repeatedly lift the doorknob up and down just to get inside. I eventually asked maintenance for assistance, and even the maintenance worker had to force the handle several times before it opened. When the door finally gave way, he almost fell into the room because of how stuck it was. The phone in the room also did not work. When I reported the issue to the front desk, I was told I would have to wait for the maintenance person to fix it. Unfortunately, no one ever came, and the problem was never resolved during my stay. The staff was rude and hostile throughout my visit. They repeatedly accused my ESA dog of barking, even though I was in the room for the entire duration of my stay. They also continued to question my paperwork and repeatedly asked, “Are you sure that’s an ESA dog?” Their behavior felt unprofessional and harassing rather than helpful. Another issue was the condition of the room. Whenever I turned off the air conditioner, the floors would become wet from the entrance all the way to the sink area and bathroom, creating a slippery and potentially dangerous hazard. At night, people were running through the property appearing intoxicated and banging on doors, making it difficult to sleep and creating an uncomfortable at

The air in the room was on full blast and everything in the room was wet. The floors, counter tops, furniture. Woke up the next morning to cockroaches roaming around. Also had to pay another deposit when we checked in. They said we would get it back when we checked out, but in reality it was 5 days. Definitely not worth the $ we spent. Also the pool is a joke it’s about the size of a parking spot. I’m sure it was a last minute decision. Only good thing was waking up to the ocean rt there. Next time I definitely won’t stay in the seawall!

The room smelled unpleasant, and the refrigerator was leaking. The leak was reported but no room change was provided, instead a towel was placed underneath the refrigerator to absorb the water from the leaking refrigerator. Unfortunately, we put our left over lunch in there and water from the freezer section leaked into the food. As for the floors, after talking with housekeeping, the housekeeper was kind enough to mop the floor and spray the room. This was not a good experience.

If you're in search of a bargain, this hotel is for you. It is reasonably priced, clean, and in a good location, especially for beach-goers. It is no-frills though, so if you're looking for extra amenities then you should go elsewhere.

The room appeared poorly maintained and unclean. I found bugs on the bed, the sheets felt damp, the shower appeared stained, and there was visible dirt on the floors. Due to the condition of the room, I did not feel comfortable staying for the full reservation and left earlier than planned. Unfortunately, the overall experience fell far below my expectations for cleanliness, comfort, and quality. Based on my stay, I would not recommend this property.

Took several tries to get door open but as we opened it, huge bug going up wall. Killed it because 7 and 10 year old were outside screaming. Nice view. Dont count on breakfast and pool was not available upon our arrival because maintenance man shocked it. Not a problem, once opened, it was an ohhhh my god situation. Too late kids already jumped in to grimy, slimy water with trash floating in water along with clumps of hair and trash on bottom.

Terrible service. Terrible front desk. Not interested in assisting at all. Attitude and unhelpful. Was a loyal customer but now I will never step foot in this establishment again.

Better than expected

In all honesty, this is probably the worst hotel I’ve ever seen in my life. My family and I are pretty easy-going. We don’t usually judge too harshly of the places that we stay as long as we’ve got clean beds clean bathrooms we’re good.. this place was completely disgusting. It was dirty, moldy, and everything inside was pretty rusty. There was mildew on the pillows and the walls. The bathroom shower floor was black.

This one had a 100 deposit, that wasn't aware of. Also, environment had a few questionable guests. Just stay aware of surroundings.

Right across from the Seawall, awesome location. Walking distance to several restaurants. The floor would sweat due to the air conditioning, so unless the ac was on freezing, there were sweaty floors (this didn’t bother me at all at night bc I like to freeze as I sleep). The floors could have been a bit cleaner, but with the beach & the sand, I get it. Throw a towel down by the bed, wipe your feet on it before you lay in it, it’s fine.

Things like chairs and lamps and no stained sheets they all need updated and as walking by update your cleaning supplies also repaint your rooms they look basic and look uninviting

It was ok though the room door didn't close properly. If it wasn't so quiet I wouldn't have felt safe. Also there were so many bugs at the door on the morning.

Only thing great about the property was location. Other then tha, the room smelled gross, the sheets and bedding didn't feel clean and when I went to check out the girl was on her phone and didn't even know i was standing right in front of her.

Exactly what I wanted - simple and clean plus ocean front. Its no frills, but the ocean view and price (plus very clean) more than makes up for that. On site parking was easy.

Loved the location! The beds were comfy and it had everything we needed for a fun stay The parking was a little tight, but you are able to park on the side of the street in front of the motel for free with no issue if the parking lot is full.

Not good. Pictures are NOT what it looks like. The rooms are so small you have to walk to other side 1 at a time. Not a deal breaker, but it was so very loud. The linens wers dirty, asked for a remote and was told to use our phone if there wasnt one. Then the next morning a man showed up that worked there in a yellow shirt and pushed the door open, thank god i had got my shirt on just in time. Then a lady called and was soo rude , asked if we needed assistance, i said last night we did but we didnt get help. She responded so rude with, "well if you dont need anything just know if you try to get a refund im going to have them deny it" i said well, no one helped us when we needed help. She caught me very off gaurd. Then we needed help thru the day with linens and asking about vending, "which they dont actually have" they wouldnt answer not 1 time. To be fair, the hotel was dirty. I mean, I do understand where in front of the beach, but the shower was almost black from how dirty it was. It was not a good experience, but it was also one of the cheaper options.

Room was clean, beds were very comfortable and fridge was cold. Only thing that I didnt like was that there were only showers and the water didnt stay warm/hot. Tried the pool on a previous stay and it was nice. Couldn't this time because it rained just before I got there and they closed the pool.

The hotel is conveniently locates and the rooms were well worth the price.

The only redeeming quality of this property was the beautiful view of the beach. Room and property were filthy. Lots of cockroaches. Gross stains on walls. Breakfast was a plate of packaged muffins. Staff seemed uninterested and annoyed.

The front desk clerk was friendly but very monotone and didn’t have access to any linens, said it was locked. Had two rooms, one smelt like a pot grow while the other smelt like a basement. The rooms were dirty, debris on the floor, shower looked dirty enough for me to skip and the lamps were rusty. The floors and everything else was wet from condensation. The door frame had been broken and was screwed back together. The beds were made but there was some staining on the linens. I won’t be staying again.

Paid over $200 and while I was there I found a live roach in the bathroom. When I went to complain there was another person there also complaining about roaches.

I made my reservations 3 months before and when I got there they couldn't find my reservation. Spent the better part of 1 hour getting it straightened out. Then when I got to my room it had a smell of marijuana. I had to have them come and smell it for themselves so I didn't get charged for smoking in the room.

No beach view in 210, although I was only staying the night there for my cruise. Water never got hot and I had to take a cold shower. Shower stall needs to be replaced or repainted.

This place is super run down and dirty. We actually left and didn’t even stay the night it was that bad.

The room was filthy. There was roaches in the room when I said something to the manager they said they had to talk to the manager that does housekeeping I ask if they could give me a partial refund or any type of refund they said no.

It was right by the water. Front desk lady acted like she didn't want to be there or be bothered. No good morning, welcome in,nothing. Called the front desk but no one ever answered and random phone calls came to our room at all times of the night.

The room had a bad smell and the ac did not work. We had to argue to get moved to another room that also had an odor. Walk out to the street make a left and the food establishments are bad also. After we took a tour we found out this was not the area to be in. The photos of the hotel are misleading. Stay somewhere other than here!

Door handle to our room was not adjusted or installed wrong because it only worked some of the time. Person behind the counter seemed irritated that I was disturbing her during check in. Best thing about this location was the proximity to the beach.

The location is great! The ocean, Pleasure Pier, Murdochs Gift Shop, and restaurants all within walking distance to I honestly don't have any complaints. I will be booking here for our next visit.

I booked for 5 nights this was my second time staying at this facility. After a long 12 hrs shift each time I get the keys the doors would not open and I have to walk back to the front desk and this was the second time this happened . Frustrated I walked back to the front desk expressed my frustration I was met with aggression by this night shift staff last 2/16 who would not offer an explanation or apology but rather pointing fingers at me and asking me if I wanted to check out or stay was my choice. If this is what you have as the face of your hotel then u shouldn’t waste your time marketing cos you are already demarketing your business with is staff. She never offered any answer just insults and there was another customer there . She threw the key at me it was the eorsg gmtreatmrnt I will spend only one one night instead of 5

barebone lodging option, good bang for the buck. Convenient location to the ocean and just 20 min walk to cruise terminals (we ended up hailing a uber anyway but definitely walkable for the energetics). To the east of the hotel, there are several wallet-friendly dining options, we enjoyed the little family Italian pizza place, apparently it is also a favorite among the locals.

This is where we stay the night before a cruise. It’s close and convenient. It’s an older “Motel” that has been semi remodeled repainted whatever you wanna call it. The sheets were clean the floors and sinks and bathrooms were clean and it’s an exceptional right for the night.

Found a cockroach in our room when we walked in. The floor was kind of gross. It was right next to the beach which was alright.

Great price for a hotel room that close to the beach. Awesome view and beautiful sun rises on the ocean in the mornings. Friendly and helpful staff. Everyone is going to have a different opinion and there are many people that just like to complain about anything but its based on your experience. I had my 2 little girls and we had a great time!

The hotel was good for the price. We just needed to stay for one night before a cruise. The night clerk who checked us in was courteous and helpful. They have some microwave food, ice cream, etc in the lobby. They also have toiletries if you forgot anything, which was great because we forgot toothpaste. What’s hard is the rooms were not nice at all. There were cracks in the walls, face plates and stains on the chairs and bed throw. The sheets were clean, However. Everything is just old and really not upgraded. So, as I said, worth the price. I would even lay a little more if it would help them upgrade/update the place.

However, the bed were rock hard and very uncomfortable. Also, there was not hot water for the shower. We will not return due to these two things. The proximity to the beach was great, especially for the price.

The young man at the desk was rude should not customer facing. He clearly did not like serving the public. We got the room key put out things in the room and set out to eat. We gathered our things and let the office know even should a picture. He really did not care. We checked out and stayed down the street at the Hilton. I am hoping we can receive a refund. Stayed here for a night before going on a cruise during Lone Star bike week. It was loud around the area at first with all the motorcycles riding up and down the road, but after about 11pm it was silent. The staff was friendly and we had a great view of the beach from our room. Murdoch's is within walking distance as well as Pleasure Pier and other places to go eat, and the cruise terminal is about a five minute drive. Will definitely stay here again if we go back to Texas.

Some parts 5 star, some one star. Averages out to three star. Location is 5 star with the sound of breakers at night, large size of room and good beds. The small store near the reception desk is hit or miss: must pay in cash only, the chocolate milk was three months past its best by date, and every drink was $4. The night receptionist was very grumpy and unwelcoming. The room has updated flooring and beds but could use some tlc

Absolutely horrible. The rooms are full of rusted furniture with gouges in the walls. I moved to another room not realizing that they all must look like that. There is what looks like mold on the ground in front of the upstairs rooms. I ended up sleeping in the back of my vehicle in their parking lot because I was too skeeved out by everything in that room.

The hotel is awful and gross, it smelled like death and there were bugs. It looked extremely run down and I requested early check in as I we were arriving from Iowa to board a cruise. And the person at the front desk told us we could not check in early and that there was no place to even store our luggage. And she would not even let us sit in the hotel to figure things out. We left and went to the Hilton. The reviews that I read online on Expedia were all good reviews well those were false and not true. It was hugs inconvenience and not right. Customer service is not good. And we deserve a refund since Expedia took the money out our account when we booked the room. We booked flights through Expedia as well. We deserve to get a refund for this mess it’s just not right. I will be contacting customer service and talking to corporate people about this if not resolved. This is not good customer service. we saw multiple cockroaches around the room. one of them was on the nightstand and seen multiple all over the bathroom. it was disgusting to be honest. the desk guy was so rude and incompetent as well. never again

Purchased the protection plan just in case and sure enough had an emergency arise. The Hotel nor Expedia could cancel or refund even partial payment. So purchase at your own risk. Next year I’ll be staying elsewhere and will recommend others do the same.

We have stayed here twice, and it’s been great each time. You’re definitely not staying at the Ritz, but it’s also way cleaner, more kept, and safer than a disgusting motel in Galveston. Galveston is super hit or miss with h/motels. This place is affordable, clean, close to some spots, and RIGHT in front of the beach! Definitely will be back for a third time.

AC could not maintain a stead and comfortable temperature. Yes, you expect to get what you pay for, but basic necessities such air conditioning should be serviceable. Additionally, lady at the front desk needs a course on basic proper interaction with visitors.

Can’t really complain about it for the price! But the pillows was a bit of a problem for me asked for an extra was told they didn’t have extras. But for a $100 bucks in the beach can’t really complain.

Room needs lots of repairs, shower head spraying all over the bathroom, light flickering at random, linens paper thin, mattresses horrible, breakfast was coffee and tiny muffins, staff that really did not want to be there, homeless guy helping himself to " breakfast", and a poster that said something to the effect that the property was under a court order by authority of the Galveston Police. Don't care how cheap it is, will never stay again!

The bathroom had things falling off the wall.

Stayed here several times since Thanksgiving 2024, will stay again. Only knock is lack of parking when all rooms are taken. However the parking along hotel side of Seawall is free and available for use.

the location and price was excellent. Evening clerk was not friendly. Morning attendant was very friendly. Although the floor in the room was clean and new looking, the humidity caused the floor to be WET and slick. I had to put towels on the floor to prevent slipping when I got up during the night. Further, the new bathroom door would not close completely. The room price was excellent, though.

This hotel is very well kept and very clean. Beyond excellent views and highly walkable.

Though some may find issues with the quality of repairs and upkeep, there can be no complaints about cleanness and comfort. Very CLEAN!!!! bed, pillows, towels and sheets of good quality. Great Stay!

Disappointed that the pool hours were listed 10am - 10pm and when I asked for them to open the front desk lady said it opens at 2pm. However, a cleaning guy saw my kids and I and asked if we were going to the pool. I told him what the front desk said and he said it opened at 11am and although it was 10:45am he open for us. Also disappointing was the continental breakfast that consisted of chocolate chip small muffins and coffee.

There were cockroaches on the bed side table and the floor.

I like this property it didn't look the best on the outside but it was clean on the inside the air conditioner was cold the bed was hard the pillows was soft but for one night we enjoyed it I would go back

I run a breakfast café in a hotel in California called the Irwin hotel. I leave fresh large craft of coffee out all day for my guest even after we close @ noon Just a suggestion😉

I'm not sure if I'm the only person who had a bad experience at that hotel with such a wonderful and pleasant view. It was wonderful, but the unpleasant thing was removing the bed cover and realizing that the sheets had yellow stains and blood stains. That was super unpleasant. Although I asked for clean sheets the next day and they gave them to me, that doesn't take away the unpleasantness of realizing that I had slept in a bed where the sheets hadn't been changed, and cockroaches were crawling on the floor and on the wall.

It should take about five minutes or less to inspect a room. I need a refund for this terrible experience.

For the price it’s not so bad. The room was clean and the beds were comfy. And the view of the beach is awesome. Would gladly come back again.

The sink is separate from toilet and shower. Walls, trim on doors have seen better days, some places have been poorly patched. Trim on shower must have been done by a non professional. Breakfast in name only: folgers coffee and dry mini muffins, that is it. Desk staff friendlyness non existent, but they did their job. Cleaning staff seemed happy. Pool is tiny, can fit ten people max, and it would feel packed, but you have an ocean accross the street.

DO NOT STAY HERE UNDER ANY CIRCIMSTANCE! The young woman at the desk when we check in was amazingly rude and unfriendly. When we were done checking in, she said…”we are done here”. But I had more questions. The pool was locked and closed most of the 6 days we were there. We had to ask for it to be opened and then we were given BS excuses for not opening it, like, “if it’s cloudy we won’t open the pool”…it was 93 degrees IN THE DAMN SHADE!, or “it’s up to the maintenance guy” , the refrigerator in our room didn’t work but they did replace that while we were there, the showerhead sprayed in every direction except on your body, the room was advertised as 2 QUEEN beds but they were only full size mattresses, the door was always difficult to open, it was stuck most of the time, the parking was was full and some guests could not park at the property.

Staff is very rude. We were told we'd be able to check in early and we were not. I asked for an iron at 5:00 today and finally at 9:00 they said oh we don't have an iron. The rooms are subpar at best I will never stay here again or recommend this to anyone. Furthermore the rate was cheaper when I got here than what Expedia gave it to me for so I had to pay the higher Expedia price instead of paying $120.

Door issue, It was difficult and challenging to unlock and open the door. I reported it to the front desk clerk; she said to try pulling on the door handle after using the card to unlock the door. Everyday I had to attempt this method several times before the door would finally open. It was very frustrating having to deal with it during my 4 night stay. Parking was also a challenge, the spaces are very tight and limited, the first night I had to park in the street.

The property was decent upon arrival. We quickly drop off our belongings and went across the street to the beach. When we came back we noticed there was back flow and the sink was 1/4th full of water and sediment. Phone in room did not work so we walked over to the desk and requested someone to fix it while we left for dinner. 2 hrs later we came back and the sink was full maybe 1 inch from the top. We went back to the desk and they said they were full booked and offered us 2 towels to help contain the spill. Both receptionist could not care less and asked US if we were sure we didn’t cause the problem The plumber came back and said they would have to open up the wall and the manager was trying to send us to a Motel 8. We were eventually transferred at midnight to a different hotel. We did not get to stay at the Mariner. Very disappointing

Dry wall not repaired correctly. Very ugly. The floors stayed continuously wet and slippery. Door lock was very difficult to use and sometimes i had to try repeatedly to get in.

Had to ask for towels and toiletries daily and the bed was never made up,i stayed 5 nights.

My stay has been nothing short but excellent. It’s conveniently located near the beach within a walkable distance to restaurants and shops. Housekeeping is very helpful. It’s an affordable and comfortable stay. My only complaint would be the breakfast which isn’t much of a breakfast. They offer muffins and coffee. Otherwise, I recommend.

Great price for the area. Beds were small, but comfortable. For an older facility it was in decent shape, however the floor was a little slimy due to humidity and no bathroom vent. Breakfast was a snack at best.

Front desk guy was not friendly- first room key did not work- I asked for a room with a view and got a first story non- view room but was too tired to go back to office to request different room again.

There was black mold in the shower and it is so small it’s not meant for more than 1 person! There was 13 in between the bed and the fridge. Thanks so much for ruining my no shower vacation.

We ended up booking a different place and. We pulled back the sheets and the bed was full of dirt

Clerk wasn’t welcoming but room was clean and well redone although it needed outside paint. Across from beach and convenient to restaurants. Meager breakfast but good coffee. Nice small pool out front but an outside shower would cut down on sand in pool and rooms. AC was good. Bargain for the price.

We arrived and were greeted by a rude receptionist. Got to our room and toile was clogged. Never fixed. Wouldn’t change our room. No daily cleaning or restocking of towels. When I went to the front desk for clean towels they hastily gave me two. There are four people in the room. Location is amazing.

I was very pleased with our stay the rooms were clean and location location location!!!! Lol we will definitely stay again our only issue was the receptionists was very rude didnt great us or smile once she was short and just rude with us and the showers suck so bad lol the water pressure is terrible it'll take 20 mins just to rinse soap out of your hair but the beds were comfy the rooms were cold microwave and fridge worked so we were definitely satisfied especially for the price

Super high price for low quality.

The phone and the fridge did not work. The mattress was very hard. The box spring covers clearly had bed bug stains on it and the shower pressure was very very bad.

They confirmed a pool it was closed. Asked the receptionist for a refund and she was the most disrespectful, immature, foul person I have ever met. I’m surprised with that being the face of your business that you even have business!! I will NEVER recommend anyone to go there.. we found a much better friendly hotel a couple blocks down the road!! Less expensive a beautiful pool, restaurant and bar. Bigger and cleaner rooms!!! Do not stay here!! Rooms smell funky and their receptionists is the most unprofessional person I have ever dealt with. Just trash!!!

Across from the beach, so that makes it wonderful, but the room is very much needed of upgrading TVs and remotes. Very hard to use walkway stairways and trash cans filthy very much needing better. Cleanliness on the outside felt like a cheap hotel was somewhat embarrassed, but you get what you pay for they say $360 a night but I guess location location location.

Good cheap spot in front of spot however there was gentlemen that was real cool gave me a room ahead of check in time but next day i wanted to get another day booked but there was this girl working that day wanted to have 100 dollar hold on my card when i wasn’t even charge when the guy working up front there. If you go i recommend going there when there’s a gentlemen working there.

Was able to check in about a hour early. Rooms were clean. Easy access to beach. The only thing that was a little uncomfortable was the beds were a little small. But we had a great stay!
