The property was great and the pools were amazing. All the food was exceptional. The kids had a blast! The only quirk that I would suggest addressing was the odd shower. The drain was weird and there was no place to put anything. The soap had to go on the floor.

It was a good place for a quick getaway.

Ar check-in they tried to convince that the rooms we requested were unavailable for the entirety of our stay. When I protested, after a delay, the manager “fixed” it. The water pressure was very low. The shower tile had unfilled holes in it. This hotel has gone down in service and quality.

The location is great but the AC has gone out on me two times now. Both on different occasions and somehow on the same floor. They said they would refund me 50% of my stay but I have yet to see it YET. Like I said great location, clean & nice staff, good food options that my kids love.

We stay there once or twice a year to spend time with the grand kids...

The room wasn’t as nice as we expected. There was some sort of white electronic sphere on the wall with a fairly large hole right next to it. I’m sure it was supposed to be covering the hole but wasn’t. We saw a lot of scratches and scuffs on the bathroom door and walls, seemed outdated as wasn’t dirty just worn down, trash cans scuffed and dish soap plates missing paint. We were also disappointed that there wasn’t a hand towel holder. Mostly small stuff in the grand scheme of things but for the price of the room we just expected a lot more than we got. The people working the front desk could have been a little more pleasant to deal with but when I was speaking to one of them it was almost like she wasn’t paying attention and I was having to repeat myself. Over all I would much rather stay at the Tremont again!

Great place for family

Family friendly, tons of activities for kids and families, super close to Schlitterbahn with free shuttle to and from! 4 days at least to enjoy all the amenities and activities!

Everything would have been great were it not for a couple of things that—honestly—disgusted my daughter, my wife, and me quite a bit: the bathtub stopper in our room was rusty, and there was a large amount of hair in the water of the outdoor pool.

I stay in room #442 the A/C unit was very noisy sounds like water draining all the time

On top of that, our room smelled terrible and was extremely hot the entire time. We only stayed a few hours before deciding to check out early because we simply could not get comfortable. Overall, the hotel was not worth the price and the experience was very disappointing.

We had a wonderful time for my son’s 8th birthday. The hotel was clean and well maintained. We loved the pool and all of the amenities they have to offer! The bed was surprisingly very comfortable too. We will definitely be back.

Had such a great weekend . Palm beach and the pool were highlights for my grandchildren. . The rooms were excellent.

Food was great! We only had time to stay one night. Staff was amazing. Pool area was fun and comfy. Lots of families playing.

Our ac was not working the first night and it was about 80 degrees in the room. They sent someone up and he had it working and blowing cold in about 20 minutes. Rooms were pretty clean but ours had a musty mildew smell when you opened the door. Room service staff was very nice and prompt. Food was pretty good. Pools were nice. Pleasant experience overall and was nice to be so close to the water park and Moody Gardens.

Awesome hotel.

Moody Gardens has a beautiful Huge pool with plenty of seating. This is a family friendly place to stay with so many other types of activities offered on the property. Although, not part of the hotel, there is the Butterfly exhibit, IMAX theater, Moody Beach. This is all within a short walk from the hotel.

First time staying at Moody Gardens in Galveston. Stayed one night, didn’t use amenities except dining next to elevators and the food was surprisingly great! I got the veggie burger without cheese and my friend got the green wrap; both were yum! Had the beach view and even though it wasn’t beach per se, it was Schlitterbahn’s view which was epic! Expedia had a great deal for the room and I’d definitely recommend and would book there again.

Will be bringing the family back soon. The pool was also nice with a swim up bar.

We enjoyed our stay at Moody Gardens Hotel. Everything went well. The only complaint was the staff cleaning the rooms in the morning were very loud. They would yell at each other giving instructions on room cleaning. That happened on our last day .

The property is excellent and maintained well. It is the offseason still - so not everything was open. Great time though for Mustang week 2026

This property needs serious updating from the rooms to dining experience . The major benefit to this hotel is the location . We were very disappointed in the dining and lack of quality options for a hotel this size . You could tell there was a staffing shortage with the long wait to get our bill . The food option was minimal and the quality of what was ordered was to be desired . The rooms although spacious was outdated. Our rooms had mold on the shower curtains, cracks in the bathroom walls and the bedding had red and brown stains on the sides . Overall , it was a fair stay.

That night and night before on Friday at 12 midnight kids running thru the hall playing this happen again Saturday night so I decided to leave the hotel on Sunday the reservation was from Friday to Monday but instead on having fun it was all the opposite

Very clean and nice place with a lot of amenities and close to a lot of attractions. Highly suggested for families with kids.

The poolside seating was definitely comfy, but there is an issue that needs to be addressed. The issue is there are kids in the hot tub area not giving enough room for adults to be in there. There is no monitoring of that with the staff at Moody Gardens also we ended up for the second trip in a row having to get a different room because this room had a broken frame on the couch bed and the mattress was stained and nasty. They did move us to another room, but it’s just an issue. Also, the pool area is not good for the kids to be in since there is a lot of adults drinking a lot and the women and men all over each other.

The only suggestion is to offer guests free cup of coffee at restaurants coffee bar - staff said we must pay for it. Experience at all other hotels is that morning coffee is complimentary.

Rooms were nice size and interior was good. The elevator were a long way for the North tower.

We enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious and clean but the sink was cracked and leaked a little, plus two light bulbs were out. The staff were wonderful. The pool was large and very nice. The breakfast was very good.

We enjoyed our stay at Moody Gardens Friday through Sunday. We were there for Showtime Internationals Competition weekend. Moody Gardens was also hosting Ironman. There was plenty parking, everything was clean from lobby to poolside. Staff was very helpful and friendly. We had lunch at the Cafe the food was amazing. We purchased tickets for the day pass for Moody Gardens attractions which is just a short walk from the hotel. The hotel room was spacious as well as the bathroom. Bedding was very comfortable. Overall stay was great. We will be staying again in the future.

Unfortunately the pool side seating was esthetically pleasing BUT staff didn't open service till well after 3pm when we were informed it should open at 2pm. No outside drinks or food are permitted on pool side, maybe next don't pay and arrive to relax unless you dont want a cold beverage by the pool.

Clean room but the resort is out dated.

We arrived post cruise and we were able to check into a room right away with a small ($35) upgrade fee. It was amazing to have a place to land at 9:30am. We went to breakfast on property and spent the remainder of the day visiting the Moody Gardens/Attractions such as educational movies, Rainforest pyramid, Aquarium pyramid, and other venues at a reduced cost for being guests. It was amazing. Everyone was helpful, friendly, and respectful of others. They offered an evening event for families with a movies/popcorn/punch at not cost. Lots to do at this property, very clean, beautiful place to stay. We would def book again and recommend to anyone looking for a port pre/post cruise hotel. :)

Great stay! We had a blast spending 2 extra nights of our trip here after we got stranded in Galveston due to ice and snow shutting down the Dallas airport and we went to the aquarium and the rainforest pyramids. Our 8 year old loved them! The staff was wonderful and very helpful.

I understand the hotel is under renovation, but there was something all over the floor so it looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed. We were staying the night before a cruise and planned on taking the hotel shuttle but no one informed us we had to book it at check in. This caused us to have to get a ride elsewhere and all of the taxis and ride shares were also booked.

The Amazing woman who checked us in had THE BEST most cheerful demeanor and you could just tell that’s the kind of person she is. I wish I could remember her name so I apologize but man she could lead the class on customer service and kindness. We loved our stay and will return when we can stay longer

The hotel double charged us without providing a reason as we had prepaid via Expedia. Now we have to dispute the charges as there was no reason for doing so. This is very frustrating. The restaurant had some great servers and good managers but lacked organization often forgetting things and providing the wrong orders. The kitchen seemed confused often about allergies.

The hotel has recently upgraded, and the check-in experience was much easier this time with lots of new easy to push carts. The rooms are large with very comfortable beds. However, they need some decent blankets. They only have thin covers. When I asked for some blankets, they brought me more thin covers. We enjoy the hotel and have been here several occasions, this time was for all the Christmas events at Moody Gardens. Don’t confuse this review with the Holiday Gardens because it needs improvement. They do not have enough staff on hand to help with ticket sales, membership, and other information. I realize this is a common problem in the service industry today, but knowing this, they could streamline processes for entries.I felt like they were running on the bare minimum. Also, even though you’re staying at the hotel, they do not offer discount a to the events, only if you buy their membership.The events are all separately priced and very expensive unless you buy a large package. The large package for Moody gardens does not include the special Christmas events. That’s a separate package. But they’re definitely not discounted.

My Wife and i took are granddaughter the hotel is very nice has a lot of things to do has a big park with a lot of activities for kids and adults the rooms are nice we definitely coming back.

Room was beautifully appointed and spacious. Views from our room and the restaurants were awesome. Staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and special. Food was OUTSTANDING! Christmas displays in Lobby were magical and whimsical. In fact all of the holiday decor was just lovely, no matter where you were. Main building very posh and beautiful and spotlessly clean. Outside area near pool offered ping pong, corn hole and two giant chess boards with 3 feet tall chess pieces. Valet parking was a special treat. Very family friendly atmosphere and lots of varied attractions and activities offered.

Christmas decor was nice…the weather made our stay terrible…visibility was extremely bad with the fog…day and night.

Excellent welcome from Reception staff. The hotel is gorgeously decorated for Christmas. Many beautiful Christmas trees in all areas. Top of the line, elegant restaurant. Very nice outdoor seating and mini playground for kids. Pool working and used by many people. Very clean everywhere. Room very nice, big, nicely furnished and incredibly clean. Clean and working bathroom too. All beautiful, the Moody Garden pyramids and the Christmas lights fest just outside, glowing with the wonderful lights. A full A among Galveston hotels. It exceeded every expectation.

Our stays here are always great. It’s a family favorite. However, we always seem to have A/C problems in every room we’ve ever been assigned to. Luckily, the staff is very prompt with getting the issue resolved. May it be transferring us to another room or send someone to fix the problem. Merry Christmas, Galveston! ❤️

Now we get to one of the rooms and the one of the lights attached to the head board doesn’t work. The room smells like cheap Clorox over kill. First and last visit.

Room reserved w King and water view was not avail at check-in, offered 2 queen and parking lot view. Nope! Bit of wrangling and given a King w a water leak in bathroom ceiling in wing under renovation. Not sure the HVAC worked properly as it was very cold with heat on. Other than that, was pleased with the holiday festivities

The property grounds are beautiful but we leave frustrated every time we stay here. The games they play at check-in trying to get you to upgrade always kickstart our frustration. It took three trips to the front desk to check in without upgrading, only to get a room with more surface area missing on the bathtub than actually still there. We opted not to shower. The thermostat and fan didnt work either so we ended up turning it off entirely. It just looks like a property that should be in better condition in the rooms. And management policies have pushed us over the edge. We'll try someplace different next time.

Staying at the Moody Gardens was an excellent choice. My family had a great time doing all the Christmas activities. We arrived there early and did the pyramids around 4pm the check in rested for a while. Around 5:30 pm we did the Iceland , the Christmas lights and finished the day with a movie and the pool/hot tub. Having a place to sleep was great.

Pool was clean and hot tub was functional...although I would call it a lukewarm tub, not a hot tub. I had Achilles surgery and was in a boot. They couldn't have given me a room that was farthest from the front door.

We arrived late, but guest service was wonderful! We were the first to use the Limo service to our cruise port, and it was a life saver! Thanks to everyone for making our pre/post cruise experience seamless!

The attractions and shows end a big too early. We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon but all attractions and shows ended and we have nothing to do. The staff at the rope course was pretty rude which made us decide not to take it.

Overall great stay. However, the food was the absolute worse Ive ever had. Pizza looked old and I over heard the customer complain to staff about it. Breakfast was horrible. I ordered off the menu thinking the food would be fresh but my food was cold when it came out. I sent it back and the hash browns still taste old and stale. The grits stuck to my teeth and the bacon was old. Very disappointing to have paid $88 for 2 adults and 1 child and we didn't even eat our food.

The property was good, needs a little updating but over all fine. Should let quest know before arrival that the steakhouse has a dress code. The waiting staff in the cafe needs more help, not enough staff for the number of guest. Had to wait for drinks and tickets. Buffet is a little overpriced for what is on the buffet. Clean room, room service was great

They were performing construction on all the rooms around us, even throughout the weekend, including Sunday. The stay was terrible, everything was a money grab and over priced for what it was.

Moody Gardens is so nice we stayed a couple of days two weeks ago and loved it so much we went again. Everything was fine but the bathtub in our room was so bad that I did not want to use it. The finish was like it had been peeled off and it just was not a bathtub that wanted to sit in. Also we were having wine one afternoon and someone was hammering in the room above us. We had tickets to a three o'clock movie and no one showed up so my husband found a nice lady at the rain forest desk that called a manager to let us in. We missed 10 minutes of the movie and no one seemed to care. Our first stay was perfect so I would go back.

Love this place

We stayed just for a couple of days to get away. The room was a little outdated but clean and nice. We loved the pool although it was a bit crowded. The staff was very friendly and always willing to help. Never got a chance to dine, but we did enjoy some delicious room service. We will probably stay again in tbe future.

Woke up to use the restroom in the middle of the night to find a cockroach in the bathroom. Thought it was gross and weird because I was on the 8th floor…but then realized their steakhouse is on the 9th floor. So glad I didn’t eat on site. Left as soon as I could in the morning 😭

This was my first time staying at Moody Gardens and it certainly won't be my last. The staff, property and amenities were all perfect!!

Great place to stay with the family. You get a lot of bang for your back here. A few minor upkeep issues were noticed during our stay but definitely nothing that would keep us from returning. We will be back!

The halls and floors were older and outdated. For the price of the rooms, I expected a little more quality. Other than that, check in was seamless, bed and pillows were comfortable. The breakfast buffet is $25.95.

We were happy to hear that remodeling was going on to keep the hotel fresh, but we were choking on fumes in the room and hallway. I can only assume that it’s from painting recently, but our eyes and throats were BURNING, as well as feeling dizzy and headaches. Then to top it off, at about 5am the fire alarm started to alarm, shorting out in our room and others. It happened twice. When trying to call the front desk, no one answered.

One night staycation was great. Moody Gardens was a lot of fun. Clean place. Resturant was great for breakfast. Arcade, nice pools, spa, resturants, and room.

We stayed at this hotel two years ago and loved it. However, on our second stay this past weekend we didn’t love it so much. Our king size bed was comfortable, but the sofa bed our children slept in was not and it made a lot of noise every time they moved. They should also include a thick comforter for the sofa bed as those thin sheets are not enough for staying warm at night. Another thing we noticed is that the area of the pool closest to the bar is infested with cockroaches and we even saw one in the water. Gross. They really need to take care of that problem. Lastly, there were little children diving in the bar area splashing pee water into our drinks while their drunk parents did or said nothing. Not cool.

The only improvement we would recommend is to upgrade their showerheads. They were low pressure, old-fashioned, and did not have a shower wand. Overall, the property was excellent, and the food was fantastic.

It’s safe a clean, wanted a special place for the family, perfect.

I've always loved this place

The pool was our favorite part of the stay. Very laccessible, lots of lounge chairs to sit on, the pool is huge so my kids were ablw to swim and play without disturbing orher guest. I also love the outdoor game area. Specially the chess set, my family and I enjoyed our stay here.

Everything is perfect. The location is convenient to all the attractions that we come here for. Our room is clean and front staffs are helpful and friendly. We will definitely book again.

(Updated) After a very unfortunate first night, the management changed our room to the accurate reservation and had our things moved over without having to be asked. Dana was highly apologetic about the original snafu and provided my son and me with complementary Moody Gardens tickets. After my initial Expedia review, the management made great efforts to improve our stay.

Location was great for Moody Garden and Pawn Beach but the shower and bath tub at the hotel was not handy cap friendly and shower head had mold.

The staff at the property and the attractions had ver terrible customer service and seemed very annoyed if we asked questions. Very unfriendly. Can’t say everyone, but most of them.

Shuttle ‘s and golf carts never available to take small kids or sr’s to any activities. If all you want to do is stay in the room …it’s fine!

The property was very well-maintained. It was clean. Our rooms were clean. The bedsheets and bathrooms were clean and the amenities were accessible and within walking distance. It was a great mini vacation my family and I enjoyed our stay.

We stayed here two years ago and had a great day, unfortunately this time around it wasn’t as pleasant. We had a broken showerhead that they were aware of, but still did not fix prior to check in. When maintenance came to fix it, they still left it unfixed saying they did not have the parts. But my husband said he would go himself to Home Depot and go by the parts they came back with a temporary fix.Our room service food came cold also. Property is definitely a bit dated now as well. Manager did give us a credit for the inconvenience, but we will hesitate to come back again.

The hotel was great but my stay was horribly interrupted because of no internet connection. My wife brought her laptop because she had a very important zoom meeting the next morning. We had to end up leaving hotel at 4:30 am because of no internet connectivity. Being that we lived in Houston an hour away we decided to just go home. I was looking forward to having breakfast poolside and lunch later at one of my favorite restaurants on the Seawall.

I’ve stayed at Moody Gardens over 20 times over the past 20 years. The service has always been hit or miss, mostly really good, but they tend to get bartenders that just aren’t the greatest. Valet is almost always top notch, and checking in is usually flawless, as was this last time. Over the past few years, I’ve noticed a significant decline in what goes on, specifically at the pool and outside area. Last year, there were so many people smoking weed that we left and went to The Galvez just so the kids could swim. This year, kids were unsupervised and wilding out throwing objects at each other, running, jumping in on top of others, sitting at the adults only area, and throwing the chess pieces around in a way that is not used to play chess. There was even another adult throwing some sort of ball from around the mid point of the pool to the other end to a kid outside the pool. Needless to say, this took up a significant portion of the pool for others to enjoy. There were at least two different employees who were around and didn’t say a word. Maybe they can’t, I don’t know, but it doesn’t make it a place to take your kids and enjoy it anymore. We usually stay here because of Palm Beach and the proximity to the water park and at one time, because of the pool area. However, since Palm Beach doesn’t require a stay at the the hotel, we will be choosing something different and just drive over. Maybe it’s the management, but it isn’t really a cool place for family time.

The hotel had very clean rooms and very friendly staff! The only downside I had was our bathtub would fill up around our feet and the water took time going down. I checked the bathtub stopper and it was lifted. Not sure what the issue could have been. Nevertheless, we still enjoyed our stay and will return in the future!

Unfriendly and unhelpful staff.

Upgraded to a balcony room for an extra $50. I was able to do this by phone in my room. The lady that answered my call brought my new room keys to me personally. Great service, I didn’t even have to go back to the front desk.

This is my second time at this property. I took my two granddaughters for an overnight stay. The only reason I gave it four stars was because it’s summertime and the pool did not open until nine. I felt like it should’ve opened at eight. There were quite a few families hanging around the game area, playing ping-pong, checkers, and other games waiting for the pool to open. Also, our room was freezing. That being said I’d rather have it cold than the air conditioner not working, but there were no blankets in the room. Just the thin sheets and very thin coverlet. I had to turn the AC off. That being said, I will definitely go again.
