Guests have mixed feelings about the hotel, with some praising its historic charm and others finding it overpriced and underwhelming. The staff is generally described as friendly and accommodating, but there are several complaints about the cleanliness and condition of the rooms.
- Historic charm and unique building
- Friendly and accommodating staff
- Cleanliness and condition of rooms
- Overpriced for the quality of accommodations

We were pleasantly surprised by this historic gem in the small town of Florence, SC. The best part was the in-hotel restaurant called “Victors.” The waiter was so warm and helpful in recommending food and drinks for the whole family. It enhanced our experience greatly!

Nice old historic hotel with most of the original detailing preserved while they still updated and modernized the rooms. Victor's restaurant is fantastic and they even let us take our half drunk bottle of wine and the two glasses upstairs to our room when we were finished with our delicious dinner. 100% better than staying at a cheap hotel close to 95 on your drive north (or south) from Florida!!

This is a beautiful place. We look forward to staying again

We loved the Hotel Florence! It was our 1st visit to Florence..everyone we met were very nice. Loved the Cru Wine & Tap located in Hotel. Also ate at Victor's in the hotel it was delicious. Walkable to other shops, restaurants & bars.
- 4/5
A nice, well-maintained historic hotel. The hotel staff was away from the front desk a lot, and the restaurant staff was a bit unorganized with our reservation. We had to wait 10 minutes past our seating time and there were lots of tables open. Otherwise, it was a great experience with a great bartender and good food!

I did not stay for breakfast

Good quality breakfast. Would have liked a few bread, muffin or bagel items More bread items

Also, parking can be an issue
- 3/5
Nice concept in this old building but we will stay elsewhere next time -
- 4/5
Historic building, quiet, well situated with free parking and restaurants and civic sites within easy walking distance, good breakfast but for a fee. Small room. Expensive for the area, no breakfast of any kind provided except for coffee.

Dinner at the restaurant was dismal. My had roasted chicken that was old and over cooked. Her MacnCheese had a funky overly sweet taste. The only thing she liked were the 3 Brussels sprouts. I had all night intestinal distress from a spinach salad with a small piece of salmon. Top this off by the restaurant charging us $10 for two to go coffees from a pot that had been sitting there for hours. We tossed them before we got to the car. There’s a new Hyatt Place less than a block away. Save your $$$ and stay there.
- 3/5
Do most part room was clean and straight. Had dust webs in ceiling corners as well and layers of dust on the exhaust fan in bathroom. Water took forever to heat up causing me to miss a shower my first morning because I couldn’t wait for it to heat up Staff later advised to run both shower and sink together to get hot water quicker

The TV didn’t work at all. When we told the front desk, he said he was aware and that’s been broken for a while (so why wouldn’t you tell us before checking us in??) and offered to move us to a diff room, but at that point, one of my children already fell asleep so that was out of the question.. stinks. We were on the first floor and the walls are paper thin. It was hard to sleep at night because we heard foot steps from above all night and it sounded like elephants above (I’m guessing it really wasn’t elephants, just normal movement but the walls aren’t sound proof) Overall, the hotel was fine but I wouldn’t return due to these service hiccups.

Not used

The room didn’t have a fridge or freezer. I was disappointed with this because I had some food to keep cool. It was close to train tracks so you can hear the train throughout the night. Bring ear plugs!
- 5/5
Nice room. Good breakfast. Interesting town
- 2/5
I like to support these old hotels, but when their owner does not keep them up there is no reason for me to support them. No one at the desk to check in meant a 10 min wait for someone. A very small room with no closet at all. None. Tried to eat bfast there, but couldn't not get a menu. Got some coffee off the buffet and it was cold. Only food on buffet that was supposed to be hot was also cold.

Very nice hotel
- 2.5/5
The room was nice, the bed was comfortable. The room, 305 had a large amount of fans outside of it that were extremely noisy I called the reception desk and they said they did not know what caused the noise. After a bad night's sleep at check out I mentioned it and the clerk said they knew about it. Why on earth did we not get the option to move rooms? At 4 AM a loud train went by and woke us again. Honestly it was like being in the movie 'My Cousin Vinny'.

Near the I-95 without being the typical chain hotel Very noisy! There is a railroad nearby and the trains blow their horn when passing. It woke us up multiple times. All windows are single glazing, meaning you hear even a simple conversation from down the street. The door isn’t isolated either, meaning you hear every sound on the hall way. It’s a historical building, but we had paint and plaster falling of the walls. No fridge in the room.

Very nice facility; lots of character. Convenient parking. Good breakfast. Very pleasant staff. Would definitely return.

May have been mold in our room on wall behind chair. Problem with key not working. Parking is a problem in this area.
- 5/5
Room spotless. Staff courteous. 👍

Special place. Great staff with an outstanding restaurant

We just love staying there when we have the chance to get away
- 5/5
Stylish. Clean, good shower and comfortable bed
- 5/5
This is such a great hotel with lots of character! It's right in the walkable downtown Florence area so you can walk out the front door and find a general store to get snacks/souvenirs, several restaurants and shops. The bed was very comfortable and the room itself was spacious. There is a bar and restaurant in the hotel which was very lively when I checked in but nothing that kept me from sleeping. There are lots of nice architectural details that have been preserved - clearly it's an old building. Staff was very friendly. You can park very easily (for free!) right on the street or in the parking lot across the street.
- 5/5
This in was clean and well done. I love boutique hotels and this one didn’t disappoint
- 5/5
We did not eat there but we had a good nights sleep! Very comfy and clean. A cool hotel!
- 4/5
I stayed at Hotel Florence last year, and had the same issue then as I had this year: My room was not cleaned. I stayed two nights, and had to ask for fresh towels at the front desk that evening (because of course cleaning crew were no longer on site and no other services were available). The hotel is quaint, so I have overlooked minor inconveniences such as no closet, only two hangers, and no bathroom amenities. However, I think I am done with being charmed by history. Most likely I will stay at Hyatt Place in the future. They even have a parking lot!

All was perfect
- 5/5
Room was very clean!
- 5/5
Very clean
- 5/5
Lovely old building in downtown Florence. Wonderful restaurant on premises.
- 2/5
The room had a horrible smell when entering, the shower took forever to get hot, and the room had view of a brick wall
- 5/5
Staff front desk was very pleasant. Wendy at front desk was awesome, very polite , pleasant. The Manager over the kitchen in Victors restaurant is great . She was very attentive and polite. Most of the staff we saw like the hostesses for the onsite restaurant was great. Rooms clean and nice bathrooms clean shower may just need small cleaning around board area but very clean
- 5/5
We’ll be back!
- 5/5
Nice place
- 5/5
Very unique property. Great room and bath. No closet but didn’t miss it. It had a hanging trolley. Vicytors restaurant is superb. Staff is more than gracious.
- 5/5
Beautiful old hotel, nice restaurant. Walkable downtown. Nice free art museum around the block, lots of bars and restaurants nearby.
- 5/5
My experience at Hotel Florence were phenomenal! Location was very convenient. Friendly staff. I will recommend 10!!!
- 5/5
Nice breakfast
- 5/5
Loved the staircase
- 5/5
What an amazing hotel right in downtown Florence. The atmosphere was perfect, the hotel was so unique, very clean and very safe. Will definitely be returning!
- 5/5
A beautiful hotel with so many amazing features. The historic charm and story of this unique locale was very interesting. Within walking distance of several options for dinner and even has an onsite restaurant. We heard good things about the restaurant but sadly it was closed for renovation during our stay.
- 5/5
Really nice, really pretty, friendly staff , lovely stay
- 3/5
Property had a mildew smell throughout and no storage for luggage and clothes
- 2/5
AunJewel was great at check in. The hot water went out in the shower which became an inconvenience and required follow up to receive communication on the issue being addressed. Breakfast left much to be desired as it was cold and overpriced especially for only 6-7 items.
- 5/5
Victor's was excellent
- 5/5
Restaurant and staff excellent. Location great. Love the building. However the hotel should consider removing the stained carpet from rooms as there is a strong odor.
- 5/5
Staff very courteous and helpful
- 5/5
I loved the restoration and history. Downtown Florence is quaint and well-kept. The room was comfortable and the staff welcoming. The food in the restaurant is very good.
- 4/5
Staff was great, room was very good. It was very noisy outside and you can hear everything if you face the front.
- 5/5
I enjoyed the historical feature of the hotel. It was a refurbished warehouse, which is what the Tapestry Hilton is. I also staying in one in Petersburg VA and it was the same style -- refurbished warehouse.
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
Awesome
- 4/5
Great old town historic feel. Would definitely recommend to others visiting the area. Enough restaurants in walking distance.
- 5/5
Charming and in a cute downtown area.
- 5/5
Always a nice clean and comfortable stay!! Doesn’t feel like your traditional hotels!!
- 3/5
The room was very small. Carpet was stained/dirty. Restaurant on site was good. It was close to other restaurants.
- 5/5
Refurbished hotel in an old bank. Nice stay.
- 5/5
Rooms were so clean & so fresh. Pillows & beds so comfortable & the ambiance is spectacular. Great hotel as well as the staff. Everyone is so friendly
- 4/5
Check in person not pleasant. Did not smile or was welcoming in any way or offer any suggestions for dining. Did not show us where elevator was located when there’s no sign. Disinterested attitude.
- 5/5
It was for me and my husband to get away
- 2/5
This was a nice hotel and would have gotten a much better review, had it been disclosed that a train passes by every 20 minutes throughout the night. It felt like it was headed straight for us. Also, service at Vic’s was slow.
- 5/5
Very nice boutique hotel with spa gym and a very good restaurant on the main level. Very charming setting in a very walkable downtown. neighborhood clise to shops and restaurants.
- 5/5
Great location and cool historic building.
- 3/5
Property has slipped since opening
- 5/5
😊
- 3/5
No service at the restaurant, breakfast is horrible. (Skip this place)
- 3/5
The ceiling fan in the bathroom was absolutely filthy, and it was clear that the rug had not been vacuumed. Just an overall feeling that the property was tired and needed attention.
- 2/5
Advertised room service which is not available. Advertised free parking which is really city parking over 2 blocks away. The hotel is not in the safest area. The staff doesn’t care. Said we would have housekeeping every day they never came. Phone was broken never came to fix it. The water was orange they did not give out bottled water. I would not recommend this property. We left and check in at the Hyatt down the road.
- 4/5
Staff was warm and efficient - very welcoming.
- 5/5
The real gem for us was Anthony's steakhouse inside the hotel. We were celebrating our anniversary and were treated like royalty! Hannah, our server was friendly, attentive and fun. The food was deliciously creative. Overall, we had a wonderful experience!
- 5/5
Amazing place. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone
- 4/5
The optional extra cost breakfast was a big disappointment!!
- 4/5

- 5/5
Great customer service. Front desk / check in was a breeze and the staff was very helpful !
- 5/5
Earplugs were not an option !!! But the rooms are beautiful and spacious, bed super confie.
- 5/5
June 29, 2024, my daughter and wonderful son-in-law were married and Part of one of their many gifts from Mom was out beautiful sweet to spend their wedding evening before they headed off on their honeymoon the next day and I have heard no complaints, we love Hotel Florence
- 5/5
Great staff, extremely comfortable accommodations and love the bar restaurant.
- 5/5
Cool boutique hotel in an old brick downtown department store!
- 1/5
Was trying to book a room in Florence Italy but discovered the property was in USA! Property refused to issue a refund, even though it was cancelled weeks before the arrival date. Don't be fooled by the misleading website!
- 5/5
Greg at the front desk was very welcoming and checked to make sure my room was good when i came back down after checking in. Jordan in the bar was very efficient. The plane is very clean in arevulitalized part of town.
- 2/5
Carpet was stained. Brown spot on toilet lid. Lady checking us in was very cold, short, and unwelcoming. Breakfast buffet was very limited and a breakfast menu wasn’t available. No other breakfast options within walking distance.
- 5/5
I do not have anything to say but the location is great and the hotel is a remodeled historic building
- 5/5
Such a beautiful and clean hotel! Breakfast not nearly worth the price? It was very “continental” but the staff were super friendly and everything was lovely and clean!
- 4/5
I enjoyed the hotel, nice ambience and boutique feel. Would have been good to know that there was no closet or refrigerator. I had food I was traveling with. The staff brought a mini fridge to my room on request. The heater was set to 66 upon arrival and I followed the detailed instructions to raise the heat. When I returned from dinner it had risen two degrees so I assumed that it would keep increasing but was slow. Yet, I awakened at 5:30, very cold, and saw it had reverted to 66 degrees. I reported it upon checkout and staff said they would have sent maintenance but at 5:30 am that was impossible. Very uncomfortable. Also, lots of masonry dust on the moldings near the exposed brick wall. Otherwise clean. The restaurant was great. If not for the very cold room I would have enjoyed this hotel more. The staff was quite nice.
- 2/5
This hotel needs a renovation..
- 4/5
The master bedrooms furniture looked a bit worn. Shower floors had hair
- 3/5
Disappointed with room as we only had a third roll of toilet paper with no extra. Lights over bed and over sink in bathroom did not work. There was no shampoo in the bottle in the shower.
- 5/5
The rooms need to have blackout shades.
- 3/5
The room was very dusty. Not being cleaned right and wiped down. Phone as filthy and the train going by and the creaking floors was too much noise for us.
- 4/5
This is a unique, charming, yet down to earth hotel, designed to reflect the history of the building. We love its artwork and Bistro’s, its fine dining restaurant!
- 5/5
The history was great!!it was super comfortable and the staff even took the time to walk us through the property and show us some cool stuff!!! We stayed on the first floor by the spa and the only one weird thing we could say was that it has a bit of a musty scent but not enough to deter us from staying. Everything was super comfortable too!
- 5/5
This is a wonderful boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Florence. It has several nice restaurants within close walking distance including one on premises. This is my second stay here traveling from FL to VA - A very good stop!
- 4/5
Very friendly staff, our room was very clean.
- 4/5
I've stayed here before, and it's always a very pleasant experience. Only complaint is that dinner is a difficult proposition on Sunday. Recommend Hotel Florence very highly.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel. Great price
- 5/5
wonderful hotel, great historic character and perfect location.
- 5/5
Enjoyed our stay. Restaurant onsite was amazing. We would stay here again.
- 5/5
Nice and convenient to the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center and local restaurants. Monica was very nice at check-in.
- 4/5
It was a very cold night, the heating system couldn't keep up and there were no extra blankets in the closet.
- 5/5
No, mini fridge in room and the seperate room with couch is long, closed off and awkward.
- 2/5
It wad aful, over priced,no amenities, other guess could be heard talking very loud through the walls,no phone in room so i couldn't call front deck
- 5/5
I love these boutique hotels. It’s a cool trend these days. I think this one was an old hardware store a century ago. Decent steakhouse here too. I recommend it.
- 5/5
Everyone, I mean everyone was soooo pleasant, from the desk to the Restaurant, it was beautiful
- 5/5
Friendly staff
- 5/5
Front desk associate was very friendly and courteous. Historic hotel property is awesome!
- 4/5
Unique
- 5/5
Hotel does not have parking, so be prepared to park in the city deck about 500 feet from the hotel.
- 1/5
Despite having a booking confirmation from Expedia, we were turned down by hotel with the reason that hotel was fully booked.
- 3/5
I absolutely loved the location and the restaurant downstairs but the room was very small, had not been dusted in quite sometime, and it was very noisy around the room.
- 3/5
The hotel was nice. We arrived on a Sunday so not much opened (including hotel restaurant). Breakfast was so/so. One night was all we needed and it was fine. We did ask for a refrig in our room and we were able to get one, so thank you to the staff.
- 5/5
My experience with Expedia couldn't have been worse!
- 3/5
Check in
- 5/5
Extremely accommodating staff. Clean, comfortable
- 5/5
Just off of I-95, this is the perfect place for a layover when on a road trip. With the restaurant and bar right there, there’s no need to leave once you arrive. The building is so unique too. Great place.
- 5/5
The Hotel Florence was awesome! Very nice room and lots of restaurants, bars, etc to walk to. I would definitely return. There was plenty of free parking. The hotel also had a very nice restaurant and bar!
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
High ceilings, gorgeous exposed brick walls, expansive room with luxurious beds, 6 ft height windows with thick, period-style molding and shudders. Window overlooks an adorable Main Street with restaurants right outside the door. Great fitness center, restaurant, and snack shop.
- 5/5
Perfect place for a layover on the drive home from up north! Restaurant & bar right inside is wonderful and convenient. Our room was booked last minute and it was clean and comfortable , nothing over the top but so worth the extra 5 min drive past the hotels right off of 95! We’ll definitely be staying over again.
- 1/5
180 per night and you can not even sleep good Nobody cares about my complains
- 2/5
The lobby on both floors was absolutely gorgeous though. The ppl working there were top notch as well. Hilton needs to step it up, this was comparable to the hotels we stay at in other cities owned by Hilton at half the price. Not good!
- 5/5
Great boutique hotel. Cozy atmosphere and bar downstairs.
- 5/5
Nice
- 3/5
We were given a room whose window was facing a dark alley where we listened to air conditioning condensers all night. We were too tired to change rooms. We wondered if that room was given to Expedia users as we had this issue once before when booking through Expedia
- 5/5
Wonderful experience- can’t wait to return our next time in Florence.
- 4/5
Very nice place.
- 3/5
Great location for our activities. Staff did not give us code for internet, but they were very nice and welcoming. Even after going down to the desk to find out about the internet, it was difficult to get to. The coffee supplies were one regular, one decaf, and one vanilla. There should have been two regular. Not sure we would stay here again.
- 3/5
I liked that its not your usual style hotel's it was vintage which was cool
- 5/5
It was awesome!
- 3/5
Room was small for the price. No closet’s. The thermostat was confusing. It took about 30-45 for the room to heat.
- 4/5
Fun hotel with a great restaurant. Staff was lovely.
