The Overland Hotel Downtown Flagstaff NAU Conference Center

The outside is being updated so there were equipment trucks parked in some of the spaces but they were constantly working. The rooms were recently updated so everything was nice. The staff was very attentive and responsive. Overall would definitely stay there again.

Property was under renovation but it was kept safe for visitors with clear well-lit walkways. Hotel rooms were brand new and modern, well-functioning. Bed and shower were clean and ideal in every way. An excellent stay. Will repeat!

The Overland is in the process of renovating. Don’t let the outside fool you. The rooms are beautiful! They are large, modern with country twist. The only issue/non-issue for me was this. The floors are tile. So when someone pulls out their chair in the room, your own or the room above you, it makes a terrible noise. Otherwise, it’s quiet despite being right next to Historic Route 66. The rooms truly rate up there with high-end hotel rooms.

Superb value for money!!! Honestly one of the finest rooms we've ever stayed at, easily competing and winning over much more expensive 4* or even 5* hotels. Our room was freshly renovated and smartly decorated up to the last detail. Everything was shiny clean and in excellent quality, everything needed was there in the best and cleverest way possible. The whole motel is being renovated at this moment, so don't let its semi-painted exterior scare you off. I'm telling you the place is amazing!!

Remodeled room, clean and very friendly staff. Grocery and other shops, restaurants, coffee, parks within walking distance. Breakfast advertised but not provided when we were there, only coffee and juice. They could use more lighting (one lamp and the bathroom light/fan) in the king room we were in. They are re-painting the outside, but we were not informed ahead of time so the looks of the outside was a surprise. It will look much better after the painting is completed!

Modern furniture in the room, great shower. Bed was comfortable, although the pillows were a little soft. There were some chairs outside to sit in the sun, which was nice. Staff was really friendly! Renovations were ongoing at the property, which were loud during daytime. Moreover, the property is located close to major roads, which can be noisy.

The room is well furnished....looked very new. Staff came in for an assistance on call.

The building is in poor condition but the rooms are very nice. It was jarring to pull into the lot but everything was okay once we saw the room. Make sure you look through photos before booking.

There was no communication that they were under construction. To charge incidentals and full rates when everything is a mess was mind blowing. You were easily tracking dirt in your room from the construction. Our room was dirty like it was wasn’t swept or mopped. Hair from previous tenants was all over the bathroom. I took multiple pictures and video, just in case the hotel tries to not refund my incidental.

This hotel is currently under remodel, which was probably desperately needed. The outside is not done, but the rooms are updated, very modern and cozy. Everything was very clean and the staff extremely helpful an friendly. We only stayed one night on an AZ round-trip, and I'd definitely come back again.

Let’s just say, I hope they fixed it, rm 120 shower tub filled up with sewer and it was unpleasant. Although they have had switch into a different rm last 2 hrs of my stay. :)

Two sides to this review. 1. The rooms are very nice with what looks like new interiors. The office and exterior appear to be in a state of renovation. The staff may still be in training as the check in was slow and they initially gave me key cards to an occupied room…surprise! Overall, I enjoyed the stay once I got my room and could relax in the nice interior.

Hotel is under construction being renovated however our room looked completely renovated and was clean and had everything we needed. 2 minutes from NAU and we felt safe.

That the room was not old and run down. The bed o slept on made a loud metallic noise when you got on it. And the refrigerator made a loud, ocean, wind storm sound the WHOLE TIME..I even tried unplugging it so I could sleep but then noticed it was thawing so I plugged it back in to avoid water damage fees. So the 2 nights I had to sleep with a loud refrigerator. I almost asked the front desk to move us out to take the fridge out. But by the time we got to the room w were tied enough to fall asleep and ignore it, initially. But were woken up around 2a with the noise.

BREAKFAST. Wasn't great. Choices were very limited.

Both rooms I saw were very clean. Heater didn’t work in the first room, but they got me moved to a room with working heat with no hassle. Bed was super comfy. Location is close to the train tracks, but the train rumble just kind of blended in with the heater’s fan noise. Breakfast selection is fairly limited - some muffins, bread for toast, pancake machine, a couple of dry cereal options with milk, then juice and coffee to drink. Coffee was decent - not amazing, not terrible. Probably would’ve gone across the street to the Galaxy Diner for a more substantial breakfast, but I think they were closed for Easter.

The room was nice, clean and the bathroom was upgraded. The AC/heater combo was quiet but high on the wall. The staff was very helpful. the area was quiet.

The room was very surprisingly modern. From the barn door to the bathroom to the large TV. When I was checking in, I informed the front counter I would probably check out before 6:00 am and he offered to let me get some breakfast items that night for in the morning. The entire staff was very pleasant. The only compliant I would really have was that the parking lot is a little small. This really isn't anything they can fix and I wouldn't count it against them at all since I was in a Ram 3500 with a 9' bed and a 22' trailer. If you are in just a vehicle and no trailer, the parking lot is plenty big enough.

This is a good-value serviceable room, well-priced do the comfort level. The bed was comfortable, the shower very good. There may be noise disturbances due to the location. I would recommend if you put coat above amenities, and are willing to risk some noise or inconvenience. The access to the parking lot became tricky from the east due to lane reconfiguration. Google Maps hasn’t updated this change yet.

The room was very modern and clean, with ample space. The breakfast was convenient, and the service at the front desk was also excellent. Walking to downtown involved crossing a few major roads but was very doable. I would recommend adding some more protein and or fruit to the breakfast selection.

Easy check in and the staff in the morning was great to work with. I left my key in the room and they let me back in to try to find something I left. I was in a semi-renovated room, new looking bathroom and shower. Actually over my expectations for a HoJo. Well priced, my dogs were welcome, all good.

The room was very nice and I felt safe. The fridge in the room didn’t work, but we just kept our groceries in the car because it was cold enough at night. Also the towels were small and we didn’t have many in the room, so I had to go ask for more, but everyone was so polite and helpful and got us more towels right away.

It was so gross and scary looking outside that my wife would not even enter the facility. Nothing.

This 1960's vintage motor hotel on old Route 66 had a renovated room with new flooring and renovated bathroom. The breakfast was basic: cereal and toast. Coffee was good and fresh. A good stay for the value.

Location and parking was great. We were not able to sleep due to a very close party in a nearby room being extremely loud and obnoxious all night. The hotel did nothing to address this issue. This party was being extremely rude and very loud during the initial check in at the front desk and even then they were not given any expectations since the front desk already knew they would be distrusting other guests all night.

Great value! Room was comfy, clean and newly renovated so I enjoyed my stay. The breakfast is very very basic so don’t be surprised.

The hotel is modern, comfortable, and very, very clean. This hotel offered a very quiet room, black-out shades (not the old curtains other places have), tile instead of carpet, everything looked new. The hot water lasted forever. We couldn't even hear the road next to us. Our experience was exceptional. Our experience couldn't have been better. So much value for the price. We just wanted a clean, comfortable place to sleep and that is exactly what we got.

After check in things got worse, at about 2am neighbors below began slamming doors and then proceeded to fist fight, they had multiple rooms so they kept going room to room fighting then proceeded to fight in parking lot all while cops began chasing them after arrival and then let them come back and stay they had us up all night. Beds uncomfortable and ended our trip early because lack of sleep.

The rooms have recently been redone and was really nice and clean. Henry greeted us and was so friendly. He wanted to make sure our stay was comfortable. Great place, but the breakfast could have been better. Wasn’t much to choose from.

Amenities and items in unit was well equipped with hair dryer, who h I really liked, shampoo and conditioner with body wash. House keeping didn’t clean when requested and wifi didn’t work. Ice machine had stuff in the ice and couldn’t use it for drinks. It was a cute small area to sleep but bed was very hard and uncomfortable

The hotel staff was incredibly helpful and hard working. They made sure to read our comments on the reservation and make our stay as comfortable as possible. The hotel is half being renovated and it didn't interfere with our stay.

There was hair on a pillowcase and a dirty spot (I could actually lift it) on the sheets. We could not get the smoking alarm to stay off, even after changing the battery, so we have it to the gentleman at the front desk. The sink was not safe and looked like it could fall anytime soon because of lacking caulk. The stand up light did not work. We assume due to bulbs but I really didn’t want to bother the front desk again. All in all, the property needs a desperate remodel with paint and deep cleaning. On a MUCH better note, the young man working the front desk was AMAZING! He was incredibly helpful, kind and patient. He went out of his way to help us with how to get to places we needed to go to and was incredibly apologetic anytime I came with a new “concern” or need. He deserves a raise. Thank you.

We could not get the smoking alarm to stay off, even after changing the battery, so we have it to the gentleman at the front desk. The sink was not safe and looked like it could fall anytime soon because of lacking caulk. The stand up light did not work. We assume due to bulbs but I really didn’t want to bother the front desk again. All in all, the property needs a desperate remodel with paint and deep cleaning. On a MUCH better note, the young man working the front desk was AMAZING! He was incredibly helpful, kind and patient. He went out of his way to help us with how to get to places we needed to go to and was incredibly apologetic anytime I came with a new “concern” or need. He deserves a raise. Thank you.

Our door locked but the dead bolt didn't work. Thankfully there was another stop lock so we weren't too worried. The staff were great though and happy to help us with anything we needed.

We stayed here a month or so ago and decided to come back. The clerk even remembered me as I came to check in. Both check in and out was a breeze. Not the fanciest place I’ve stayed, but it has everything you’d need is comfortable, clean, and feels safe.

In terms of budget motels in Flagstaff, this is your best option. Very clean, big rooms, friendly staff, walkable area with dining or a very very short uber to downtown.

The bolt lock to my room doesn’t work. There is a door between my room and the one next to me, we each have a lock on our door and then if you open the two doors, the rooms joined together. Well, I opened mine when I got here checked it. Everything was fine closed. The people next-door to me, keep opening and closing it and checking it. Not sure why they keep doing that but uncomfortable and a little frightening. I can also hear everything they’re saying, but it’s in Spanish so I’m unable to understand it. The heater or air conditioner can only be reached if you stand on a chair which is a very frightening choice to have your customers step onto a chair balance just to turn the heat or the cooler on and off. The bathrooms look like they’ve been redone. They look great and I was able to find parking fine. But definitely need some work on the safety issues.

A quick couple of days near NAU to visit our son. It was close to campus and many restaurants available nearby. The room and hotel has seen better days but seemed clean enough for our visit. It's pet friendly so that was important as we brought our furry friend with us. Not far from downtown flagstaff.

The filthiest room I have ever stayed in. Bugs everywhere and towels as thin as tissue paper. They nickel and dime you for everything and are extremely rude and unorganized. Their manager needs to learn how to speak to customers as she is the most condescending person I have ever met.

this place is way too greedy and overcharged us for what they offer. It’s essentially a hotel from the 1980s where people smoking in front of the doors, the staff is rude, and you have nonexistent pillows on your beds, and your room smells like a garbage can. If that’s your thing and you wish to pay about four times the rate of what this super eight motel should charge, then this is your place

Guy downstairs talked loudly and made it hard for me to sleep. Sidewalk outside of rooms was not clean. No eggs at breakfast. It did have 3 beds, which accommodates my family so that was good. Smell not the greatest when we walked into our room.

Breakfast sucked only cereal and toast! Charged for local resident!! Double charged me! Deposit rate was $150 and hotel was basically a upgraded motel 6! Your better off staying at motel 6!!

Check in was super easy , DJ was so friendly, kind and accommodating, she upgraded me to a king bed as I was traveling by myself and did not need two beds. As a female solo traveler I felt safe in the area and at the hotel. Room was warm with heater, comfy pillows , great water pressure.

Staff was attentive. Door lock was a little finicky and they came right up to help. Had another issue with the TV and they came right up again and resolved it. Only stayed 2 nights but they provided housekeeping. Daily housekeeping is rare at any hotels anymore. A few more options on the breakfast bar would be nice, but not necessarily expected at this price point. Beds were comfy and the area was quiet so we slept like logs.

I booked the room on hotels.com. I paid the $74 fee and when I chexked in they charged me $150 more. They told me it was a standard hold for incedentals. I got to my room slept, took my uncle to the train at 430 a.m.and went back home. The hotel never reinbursed the so called $150 hold. They kept the money, even thought all we didnwas sleepnfor a dew hours and leave. There was no damage caused, we were ripped off.

First of all I realize that this motel is not a 5 star facility. With that said, I do expect to get what is promised. I checked in on Thursday afternoon, I asked the attendant behind the desk if there was breakfast and he said yes. They put me in a room and stated that the room is very quiet. I went back to the office and asked why I can’t get Wi-Fi in my room and he stated that there’s Wi-Fi in every room. But still no response or remedy to the Wi-Fi problem. That night I went to put the security chain on the door but it was broken. When I went to sleep I was awoke by the person on the second floor. There was Native American music playing by the occupant of the room. I enjoy the music but not at midnight.

The staff was nice.The room was clean, but very basic. Phone line didn’t work. Not enough outlets. Didn’t have a comforter just thin blanket and sheet. They do provide a very light breakfast. In all it was ok but we wouldn’t like to stay there again. It’s not what we’re used to.

I am 72 years old woman. The room I was put in looked a tunnel and the room window another building very close block views and sun light. Noises above the room. Me and my cat ESP pet were shot with somkind of an sharp object that left holes in the ceilings, I took pictures of it, also loud stumping.i would never recommend this place to family with small children or an elderlies. The. Worst I stayed at. Checking in was even worst. The clerk kept running my card over and over.

Definitely can tell its an older property and worn. Room clean, comfortable bed. Nice tile shower but easy to slip. Lite breakfast is bare minimum (cereal, toast). Could do a bit better for price.

It was fine for 1-2 stay. Two- story motel. Advertised breakfast was 2 types of cold cereal and 4 choices of breads- toast, English muffins, or store bought blueberry muffins and juice or coffee.

The room had a slight scent of smoke, bathroom was run-down, beds and pillows were uncomfortable. The size of the room was smaller than expected. Too expensive for the low level of quality, there are better options at similar price.

The lady at reception was very rude. They have put 2 queen bed in a small room leaving no space to move. The free Wi-Fi is accessible only in rooms near their office; rooms farther has no signals with doors closed. They won’t entertain any requests.

She shout and come to the room to check any of time. No privacy because management knock any time.

Check-in was horrible. The man was trying to be nice but was polite rude. They added a extra charge on me after i had prepaid on line for my room, $3.50 for me & $3.50 for my friend. He said it was a sur charge to stay at any Howard Johnson. We have stayed at several H.J. motels on our trip & never had that charge. They also said no smoking except in their designated smoking area but the man at front desk would stand just outside the hotels front door smoking. Beds need upgrading as well as the very old AC unit. It was literally an old window type unit. For $150 + a night i expected alot better.

More and I’m still waiting to get a refund , They also charmed an extra $10.50 for extra fees And I still don’t understand why. I’m talking to my credit card to see how we fix this .

The lady at the front desk was so nice! Hooked my room up with NO extra charge. Thank you for that! My lil family enjoyed every minute being here.

Dive motel. Plenty of other options with nicer facilities

If we had not pre-paid we would have not stayed after seeing our room. Very run down. Very noisy. No remote to work air/heat that was mounted so high the controls could not be reached. Hair dryer did not work. Very shabby room. NEVER AGAIN!!!

I spent 200 for a one night stay and the bathroom was freezing cold. The “second room” didn’t have its own heater and my son and his girlfriend froze all night they said. It’s 30 degrees right now and all the beds have were a sheet and brown fleece thin blanket. I’ll never stay here again. The receptionist was great though

We have stayed there many times over the last 6 years. What we liked is it has 2 beds in one room and a 3rd bed in a second room. This is perfect for a family of six. It has a fridge and microwave. No breakfast like this website states. The back of the bedroom door had red stains running down it( my daughter thought it was blood it looked like hair dye). They made a big deal about ruining sheets. It used to be inexpensive, but $10 extra person and 3.75 per person utility fee. We just slept there to go skiing. We won’t be staying there again.

Horrible state of rooms and bathrooms

Motel was clean, but they have still not started the breakfast as it mentioned when I booked thru Hotels.com
