Hilton Garden Inn Fairfax

This hotel was very clean and convenient, just about 25 minutes from the concert venue, but we were really disappointed by a couple of issues. One of the main reasons we booked that morning was to use the pool before the show, but we arrived to find the pool closed for the weekend; if we’d known in advance, we would have made plans somewhere else. Then, after returning to our room, the thermostat didn’t work. When we called the desk, we were told it probably needed batteries, but they had no extras, and the proposed solution was to move us to another room. It was after midnight and we were exhausted, so we didn’t want to pack up and switch rooms. We didn’t understand why, if it was just the batteries and rooms were available, they couldn’t simply provide batteries from another room for the night. We ended up sleeping a few hours and leaving very early. While the hotel was well maintained and clean, these issues left us disappointed.

The room was very clean and I love that they allow dog/s. My fur baby lives to stay in hotels lol

Our last stay was most memorable. A personal item was left behind after checkout. The item was discovered missing so I called the Inn where the front desk staff had house keeping check the room for the item. I received a call back indicating that the item was found so I returned to pick it up. The Inn’s staff was most professional.

Loved the room and bathroom. Loved the comfort of the lobby sitting area for just hanging out. We had dinner there the first evening and the menu was limited and food only mediocre. But then found restaurants near by for the other evenings.

Room was comfortable. Some parts of the hotel could’ve been a tad bit cleaner like the bathroom and the floors. It was easy to park and had easy access to highways. Overall, the hotel was convenient and would stay again!

Our room had no shampoo in the attached shower toiletries.

We got an un-requested wake up call at 7am and I heard them calling each room next to us as well. Not sure why, I feel like normally that should only be on request only. Being startled awake at 7 am was not fun after a full day of travel.

Staff seemed indifference to customer satisfaction. I’m not sure if the Expedia app did something that caused the initial dissatisfaction or the hotel. The hotel could’ve made a cheap fix to make me satisfied with my stay and for a couple dollars decided not to. I’m guessing they were just towing the company line, but I will probably not be back to a Hilton even though they have very clean hotels. I feel like Hilton wont care that i was dissatisfied. Just left feeling bad about my stay.

Hotels.com said check out was noon, staff said 11am. It wasn't a great experience and ruined the tone of my 30th birthday getaway. Nobody deserves to drive 4 hours only to be treated like a problem when doing something as simple as asking to get checked in. Wouldn't recommend beyond a last resort place to rest your head.

The hotel is in a great location and clean and comfortable but there was so much noise all night long. There was a tour bus pulling out in the morning. Maybe that explains the noise? Usually, it is quiet.

The pool and hot tube aren't working for the last 4 monhts. My autistic son so excited for pool. Very disappointed and nothing mentioned online.

Additionally, the breakfast was just ok. The food was cold and there were not a lot of options. I expected a little bit more for the price we had to pay for it. The room was nice. It was clean and the beds were comfortable.

The floor in the bathroom of my room was pretty damaged and the tiles would move as you stepped on them. The room didn’t feel very clean, there were ring marks from cups on many surfaces in the room.

I made a reservation for March 9 and I took a screenshot before I hit continue. When I receive the booking confirmation there must’ve been a glitch in the third-party website and it recorded it as March 8. When I received messages to check in, I thought that was strange so I contacted the third-party website as well as the hotel directly. Even with a screenshot of the dates that I chose no one helped me. Not a cancellation and charge me a fee, not a cancellation, not fix the mistake and move it to the correct date one night forward, nothing. I was on the phone for hours late into the night. My small church is paying for the night for me to attend my first conference since 2019. We don’t have a budget for this and the lack of help was very upsetting.

I’ve stayed at this hotel and location multiple times. The service and staff have been very good. I would highly recommend. Parking, perhaps have big trucks to park in back where most space.

Room doors safety lock broke and could not get in room. No staff to help and front desk had no answers. Overthe place was fine but took over 2 hours for someone to give us a tool to get ourselves into room. I should have just kicked the door in and let your peoptfix your problems

Didn't like that the handle on the toilet had to be wiggled for the water to stop running & the ceiling had a very long crack. Also, the breakfast was very bland. These complaints are minor to the comfort & feeling of security.

I thought the breakfast was yummy. It was amazing seeing an Indian family in the lobby with all of their beautiful wedding garb on. One of a front desk staff, a lady, upon check in was awfully quiet to hear. But polite. It was costly but I know I also booked it rather late and it appeared there was a lot going on in the area over that weekend. Bottle water in the room for $3 each unless one signed up for something? That was disappointing. And I know this ages me but I miss the good old days when newspapers were shoved under the doors of the rooms. Maybe they aren't even in print anymore.

We enjoyed our weekend stay. Property is a little dated, but it didn't affect our stay. The area is nice and quiet - close to shopping. There was also coffee in the lobby area in the morning which was a nice surprise!

The hotel staff were very professional. It’s just unfortunate the walls were very thin. One night the neighbors dog barked all night long, and the next night it sounded like the couple next to us was in the room with us. Other than that, if you’re a heavy sleeper this will be a nice place to stay overnight.

Night staff was wonderful but the lady I talked to at check out maybe maryam I tried to tell her Expedia had the wrong Check out time on their app and she said basically that’s their problem you should have looked at our wall ….. I’m like I got in at midnight …. Also she made me wait while she called someone on her cell phone turns out it was a co worker but it looks terrible.

Was a little disappointed with breakfast buffet eggs, meat and potatoes being pretty dry, i guess from sitting. The room was big ,nice and quite. The bed was too hard for us and the bathroom had hair left in the tub....eewww. Staff was friendly though.

Airport shuttle is listed on the amenities but nowhere to be found on the property. Misleading information. I had to spend over $60 for Uber back and forth to the airport. No assistance with luggage on the property. Had to carry all the luggage myself upstairs to my room.

Had a medical emergency so was unable to travel and literally the morning after the cancellation window I requested an exception through Hotels.com to the hotel given the circumstances. They would not budge. I did not actually stay at the hotel but would not be able to recommend them given their inability to be lenient with their customers.

The pool. For some reason no one ever used it besides us. Get ready to be disrespected by the breakfast staff. The workers will never say good morning or welcome but they will stare at their computers like they are air traffic controllers (or more likely solitaire players). Also, no coffee or tea after breakfast is rough. Zero effort to provide any semblance of luxury.

Great location- we came from Baltimore and stopped to visit Mount Vernon. Hotel across the street from a big shopping center with full nice grocery store, coffee shop, ice cream shop. Hotel clean and staff friendly. Everything worked great. Lobby was pleasant with bar and food available. Pool and hot tub looked cloudy but the area was clean- could just be an off day. We did not swim. We would definitely stay again- we only planned one night and there was enough in Mt Vernon area to stay a few nights.

Service and facility.. Had room changed due to AC issues and despite room changed, all night could not sleep as AC was very loud and didn't stop all night as thermostat wasn't working. When complained in the morning, staff was unapologetic and rude and said that happens. Also adding water to the Coffee in the lobby instead of replacing with new coffee container!! Never seen in HILTON LIKE THAT!!!!!!!

The property doesn’t offer a free breakfast but is in close walking distance of a bakery, cafe, and grocery store. The rooms have a mini fridge.

Very clean, housekeepers are friendly and thorough. I was truly impressed by the Hotel. Mattress and pillows were comfy. AC, great. Rare you find a hotel that is set up nice and clean. Only complaint is the refrigerator. Freezer worked poorly, if at all. My items were cold, rather than frozen. I would say if they would get a new refrigerator, then that hotel will be top notch in my opinion. Oh, I almost forgot, the servers at breakfast, they were very attentive. They were checking on you, picking up your dishes. Great service. Thank you. P.S. Get those fridges fixed...please!!!

No AC in the halls and lobby for the full four days of our stay (room was fine), and upon reading previous reviews, this is a repeat issue in this hotel. Breakfast is confusing and should be free and hotel staff does a poor job explaining the situation.

The staff has always been friendly and helpful. Check in can take far longer than necessary depending on who is behind the desk. Breakfast is overpriced and we weren't impressed, same with the bar. 1 glass of Lamarca prosecco almost covered the price of the bottle butit is a hotel and that's expected.

Dead bugs everywhere..refuse to refund last night of staying due to having to go home event completed 1 day early. And they reused our request to refund.cleaning serve is only every 3 days unless you request 1 day ahead.

Front desk agent working the one night there was rude. I stopped at front desk and asked for extra pillows. She looked at me, gave an audible sigh and said she needed to go downstairs to get. She did go get after a short delay but unhappily.

The best part is the staff Samreen , Sergio and Carmen. They were so helpful and humble staff. Comfortable bed, clean room. Everything was perfect during my stay In Hilton.

There was no hair dryer in the room. They wanted $3 for a small bottle of water. Best Western gives you a bottle of water when you check in.

I know this area pretty well and knew I liked it. I was hoping to be able to see outside but unfortunately all I could see were a bunch of roofs. The area is frequented by geese who are very entertaining to watch.

Hotel listings has indoor pool listed as an amenity. Unfortunately we found after checking in that the pool has been out of service for months. When this issue was brought to the site management, they felt it was most important to talk about reservations through a third party instead of directly with hotel. Management did take accountability for falsely advertising amenities that they did not have available.

Always a reliable place to stay when in town, the room was clean and the bed was comfy, however it made the loudest sound almost like it was about to come off the frame. The breakfast is always so good and the price isnt horrible for the convenience of not leaving.

Staff could not personally recommend any food or places around, only hands out paper that provides average chain restaurants, so that was slightly disappointing. Overall the property is nice. Bathroom was not the most clean when we arrived, parking in the front of the building can fill up fast.

I reserved a King bed, and they put me in a room with two Queens that had an adjoining room. I could see under that door and could hear every word the other guests were saying. I could hear them peeing and flushing the toilet. The room also smelled musty as if the heater was just turned on, but the smell lasted for three days.

My blinds didn’t close. When I told them about the issue, they didn’t fix it so I had a truly poor experience. Also the phone didn’t work so I couldn’t even call about the issue.

Charged for mediocre breakfast. I thought Hiltons had complementary breakfast. Other than this, it was a nice stay. Wish that would have been more clear before we ate our couple of bites of the cold buffet style breakfast and charged $52. Unfortunately, this ending to our stay overshadowed everything else.

Wonderful. Front desk clerk let us in early. Very clean hotel. Great amenities. Close to Vienna Metro station. Will stay here again.

Amazing! Absolutely amazing! Bar and snack shop top notch . Room is very elegant especially seethrough door shower and more storage than u ever need! It has the cutest accommodations such as miniature flexible reading lights! Very quiet from outside noise . Top hotel in metro dc Va area . Staff is so super friendly !!!

The neighboring room could be heard occasionally. It wasn’t bad. But it was noticeable.

Apparently I’ve been spoiled staying at HGI in southwest Pa, room has always been ready when I arrive. I arrived here at 2 PM and the room wasn’t ready, I wasn’t even asked if I’d like a call or text when it was. Anyway, apart from that the stay was ok.

Like that it had a pool but the shower was less than average with low pressure and had a hard time keeping the temperature the same of water.

Everything was great. Traffic and lights getting to the hotel are a pain with long waits to turn - not the hotels fault of course though.

Don’t love the every other day housekeeping policy.

I needed a room with a roll in shower and bench, however I couldn’t sit and use the handheld showerhead because there was no water pressure- I had to stand with my walker in the shower for safety. We requested maintenance but they never came. Also, I was glad I chose the $4 breakfast add on when I booked - breakfast was $15 for a generic buffet breakfast.

Hot water in shower was not always working and TV cable kept going off even when weather was nice.

Clean, quiet hotel. Pool and hot tub were clean. Always a pleasant stay.

I felt I got a clean room, the items promised worked, I was there to do business while my home was being repaired. The manager Allen was excellent, but other staff wasn’t. They were rude and dismissive. But if I asked Allen he was very much a fixer. Even with me being displaced, he seemed to listen and allowed me my room early, because I was so upset. I’ll recommend Allen to others,

I loved this hotel , only thing that i couldn't get my laptop connected to the hotel wifi. I had to soend to day at starbucks.

Check in was a disaster. The computers were down and the manager was very rude about the situation. After 1/2 hr she found us on her list and gave us a key to our room which was supposed to be 2 beds. Went directly to the room to find out it was 1 king bed and had to go back to have her give us a new room which was another 20 minutes. At this point the line of people was almost to the door. The manager should have had some assistance especially since the system was down from the day before. Many in our group had the same experience and some way worse.

Beautiful hotel; a tiny age in spots. Great location. Pool & jacuzzi under maintenance. Room fabulous!!! Super dog friendly!!! No free breakfast. Coffee in room delish.

Everything was great and will totally stay again only issue I had was that they don’t have cribs/rollaways even though they’re advertised so I specifically didn’t bring one

Check in and out was smooth. The staff was friendly and the room was clean and just as pictured. There was a mess in the hallway from the cleaners dumping a rooms garbage into their cart that was left for over a day. Besides that gross site everything else was wonderful.

On 4/27/24 I took my son to get breakfast and was reading their menu on a stand outside of the dining area I barely got to read any of it before a waitress came and told us to come sit down it was included no worries, they got us a cranberry juice and coffee and then my son decided to get a bagel, it was rock hard, he took one bite and said it was disgusting and he couldn't eat it. Because the woman told us it was included we got up to leave and was chased down to sign a check so it could be billed to our room. I immediately went to the front desk to explain and was told it would be taken off the room bill (not sure yet if it actually was) We were so upset about the overall experience at this location we checked out on 4/28/24 even though we were booked and paid in full for another day. The hotel is also right next to the fire station so you will be hearing fire whistles from next door 24/7. There is also no overhang for smokers, so when it's raining they are smoking right next to the front door where the only overhang is located.
