Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its unique, retro design, friendly staff, and great location in downtown Durham. However, several guests have complained about the lack of windows in some rooms, noise from the pool area and surrounding downtown, and expensive parking.

We were able to go downstairs and checkout. I booked through Expedia so we will see how well the refund goes through.

The location was really great. The room was nice. These were the things that weren't the greatest for me. My room was right by where the housekeeping staff keeps their supplies, so I heard all movement back and forth whenever they were in and out. I was right by the pool also and music played very loudly until at least 9:30. I'm almost positive it was later, but it was also a Sunday. Apparently the hotel is near a train station or train tracks, so that was also really loud. So, nice enough place but those things were just kind of a lot.

Love the pool and the parking garage

Location to DPAC, pool Everything was great!

We cant wait for our next visit.

Nice, clean hotel in downtown Durham. Also really I appreciated the hotel team’s responsiveness and professionalism after an unexpected billing issue came up. They looked into it quickly, resolved the problem, and issued the refund without hassle, which was not the case in similar situations that I had before at other places. Thank you! Nah, all was good

The hotel was clean, well-maintained, and had a great atmosphere. My room was spotless, comfortable, and exactly what I was looking for. Overall, the experience exceeded my expectations. My only suggestion for improvement would be clearer communication regarding the parking situation. The signage could be a bit more straightforward, as I ended up paying $25 for parking when I was only using the lot for a short period of time. Other than that, everything was fantastic. I truly enjoyed my stay and would absolutely stay here again. Thank you to the entire team for making my visit such a positive experience!

Decent hotel & room, it’s obviously an older hotel that has had some renovations. Cleanliness was decent, not amazing. Biggest complaints are that you’ll need to expect to pay $25/day to park in their garage, no free breakfast, nothing free and charged a “destination fee” of $15 for the one night we stayed. You get what you picked.. boutique downtown city hotel and expect those prices with little complimentary amenities.
- 5/5
Awesome vibe and super close to everything. Clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and kind. Loved the gym facilities and the pool was super fun. The lobby was basically just a bar. Very cramped. Also the kitchen was closed the day we were there which was disappointing.

All went well
- 5/5
Clean, staff and location was great. Didn't like that I had to pay $25 to park each night.
- 3/5
No breakfast menu in room. Microwave would be helpful
- 4/5
Location was perfect for an out of town event at DPAC. Walking distance to many shops downtown. What bothered is is HOW LOUD the doors are when closing. Consider sod-closing hinges to control noise.
- 4/5
Parking was in a garage. Easy to find a space.
- 3/5
Breakfast was pretty bad, took a very long time . Many items on the menu were not available. The lobby was pretty shabby.
- 4/5
Breakfast was free but was poor and from provided options most were not available. Was better to go out for breakfast. Had a huge bar, but was closed both days.
- 2/5
The room was absolutely tiny. Charged $100 incidental fee, then charged me $85 when I left. Can’t get an answer from anyone.
- 5/5
Easy parking and good location for restaurants
- 3/5
Showers are configured strangely so you can’t avoid completely flooding the bathroom floor… and lighting in the room was also sparse. Good location though and the staff was attentive.
- 5/5
The room was comfortable and had air conditioning. Halls and walkways were free of debris.
- 4/5
My room had no windows, which was offputing
- 5/5
Perfect central spot, would be great on summer because of the pool.
- 3/5
The location and staff were fantastic. I feel the nightly price was way too high for the very basic amenities and not extremely clean room. There is a $14.99 daily fee that they don’t tell you about unless you scan the QR code that is behind the keys in the envelope they give you at check in. It explains that the fee covers bottled water, coffee service, pool, as well as some discounts at area businesses. But, our room had no waters, the pool looked nice but it’s off season, the coffee is available in the lobby but they don’t tell out that. I did ask about it, especially no water in the room and they waived the fee. But it’s something to be mindful of. Additionally, the AC is on some kind of timer, we lowered it so the room would be cool when we got back from being out, I woke up in the middle of the night sweating to the setting being at 85*. I lowered it again to 68* and when we woke up in the morning it was at 75*. When I first learned of unscripted, I was excited, seemed like a very cool spot, with kitschy vibes but they missed the mark or dropped their standards since opening.
- 5/5
Had kids with us and the place was great
- 5/5
Pool was closed. Was not aware of that
- 4/5
Unscripted is a unique property in a good location. The room was quite small and had no windows. However it was clean and interesting in design.
- 4/5
Doors had holes at the bottom that allowed the light to come in and probably critters (I didn’t see any). The outdoor deck was nice and sunny.
- 4/5
Very close to the Durham Convention Center which is where our event was. Convenient to restaurants and shops. Quiet despite being amid the busiest part of downtown.
- 3/5
Clean, quiet room with comfortable bed. Very good location to shops and Carolina Theater. Multiple up charges were a shocker, especially the $25 parking fee when staying there.
- 2/5
I was not able to speak to a person when we left this morning, as the desk was unattended. 1) malfunctioning fire alarm caused evacuation Saturday. No big deal, things happen. We left and met friends for lunch. However nothing was communicated to us on our return about the cause/result. 2) warning posters on the entrances that the fire system was not working properly - on which something was meant to be circled, but wasn’t. Again, no communication from staff. Our rest Saturday evening was very uneasy. 3) another fire alarm Sunday at 8:30 am. This one was cut off abruptly, so we didn’t evacuate. However, we were not planning to be awake that early and were unable to relax. 4) We were told it was $25/day for parking at check in, which should have been communicated sooner. But whatever. It is what it is. However, there was a street festival on Saturday that made it impossible for me to return to the parking garage. So I parked three blocks away on the street, despite paying for hotel parking. 5) the breakfast choices offered in the studio were overpriced for what they were offering. We ordered delivery from Panera instead, and for the same $25 it would have cost for two breakfasts at the studio we had two breakfasts, drinks, delivery fee, and tip. 6) posters everywhere indicated entertainment Friday and Saturday night. We saw none of it. The room was comfortable; we loved the walkable area. But there are other choices nearby.
- 4/5
Great location downtown with easy access to most of the city and amazing restaurants. Clean and quiet. Staff was friendly, welcoming and helpful
- 5/5
Loved how centrally located this hotel is, loved acted to the parking garage without having to take an elevator, loved it in general. Thanks!
- 1/5
issues with the tv 2 of the 3 days; bar staff was not pleasant and very unaccommodating. had to request more towels as there were only 2 in the room. the mini split was very hard to keep at a moderate temp, either too cold or too hot. was not pleased with the property. i felt for a hyatt it was not up to expectations
- 5/5

Always a nice place to stay in Durham
- 4/5
Room was clean. The mattress was too soft and the pillows were too large, this gave us neck issues. There was no Microwave.
- 2/5
This hotel kept my deposit and also charge me for breakfast that was supposed to be free. I have my receipts
- 3/5
They charge my room for breakfast and it said free breakfast on booking.
- 3/5
Its a very quirky hotel. The interior room is tiny and didn't have a window. So I got upsold a room with a window it was still small but its only accessed via outdoor walkway which stinks when it is only 20 degrees outside. Checkin also took forever since their card reader wasn't working. Last there's a loud train at midnight and dumpster pickup at 4a.

Super comfortable beds. Great staff and parking.
- 4/5
Windowless room. Weird.
- 5/5
Nice clean room, beautiful view over the pool and city center, staff was friendly, and it was centrally located to plenty of good restaurants, shopping, and the Carolina Theatre. Will definitely stay again!
- 2/5
Staff was great. But no hot water on my second day, also the room was damp because of the ventilation. Not enough towels either.
- 3/5
Great location and cool building from the outside, but inside it feels cold and deserted. Room is the antithesis of cozy- high ceilings and poor lighting. Also hard to adjust temperature. Would not stay there again.
- 5/5
Everything was absolutely wonderful .. front desk young man upon arrival was very very helpful! He is a great person and deserves to be recognized as a wonderful lead for customer service and I’m so sorry I can’t remember his name but he was absolutely lovely
- 5/5
Easy parking though if you have a large SUV, it might be a tight fit. Great location to several eating options and DPAC. Quirky motel style hotel. We stayed on the pool floor and it was Igloo season and music was playing. Staff was friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable as were the pillows, we slept well. We’d definitely stay there again.
- 5/5
Everything was great. Everything was in walking distance. I didn’t have to move my car.
- 5/5
Love the location of the hotel, and the availability of parking and walkable amenities
- 5/5
The door lock was broken and they issued us a new room. They also upgraded us for free because of availability. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
We stay here at least annually and always will.
- 4/5
Location is great, right in the middle of downtown. The rooftop bar with "igloos" is great. Very nice staff.
- 4/5
Pleasant staff but not overly friendly. Room was spacious and clean. Pool area was cute. Hate paying to park but expected expense as we were downtown. Great location / lots of walkable fun things to do and see.
- 3/5
Our room was extremely small, much smaller than the other three rooms people in our group had but it was adequate. It could have been cleaner, there was still trash on the floor from the previous guests but overall it was comfortable. Love the location, lots of things within walking distance
- 3/5
While the staff didn’t create the problem, their excuses did! Came to property @ 2:40. Front desk, which was (1) person with a laptop😂 Was told check-in was not until 3:00. Came back @ 3:10 and there were an abundance of people in line. At that time the only excuse was that they had a busy day before & the rooms were still being cleaned. I was 4th that was finally checked in, which was at 4:30. The apparent reason for the delay was that the employees that performed the room cleaning were not @ work as US Border Control had been in the Raleigh/Durham area. Tell the truth and not give BS excuses... no one there to clean the rooms! Guests were given a free pass for breakfast the next morning. Came the next morning and there was (1) person in breakfast area working and (3) others guests in the area. Stood @ counter and FINALLY the manager of the hotel came and took our order. We were given our drinks and we proceeded to a table. After 30 minutes I asked where was our food. Deer in headlights response…you ordered what? Explained and after another 10 minutes later received our food which was (2) breakfast sandwiches. Before leaving asked for final bill as I had checked out before breakfast. The breakfast was charged to my bill. Told the front desk that it should have been at no charge & charges were taken off. Cool place, but staff…NOT!
- 2/5
Plenty of people grouped regularly in the lobby at 5 pm waiting for a 3pm check in Watch out for additional “resort” and “destination” fees on check out
- 3/5
Wait,wait, wait for everything
- 5/5
Nice
- 3/5
The hotel has a really unconventional setup, rooms either don't have windows, or halfwalls with the door (very much like motels) and its quite noise so your options are not really great.
- 3/5
Great location and lots of restaurants and activities nearby. However, I had booked a king room a couple of months ago, but when we checked in, I was told they were sold out and so they offered a queen room with no other options. We still had to pay $25 for parking and he offered a drink to make up for it. Then, there was only a partial roll of toilet paper in the room and didn’t realize this until settled in and refrigerator wasn’t plugged in so we had to plug it in and wait for it to cool but had cold drinks we needed to put in it. We could have called and had them deal with it and bring more supplies, but when you are paying over$300/night you expect the room to be ready and functional.
- 5/5
Staff was nice, room was large and very clean, location was excellent
- 3/5
The rooms were ok. Nothing great. The outside of the rooms really looks run down. The staff was not very helpful. They gave us a list of restaurants in the area on the day we left. There is no breakfast at all. One coffee pot. So no decafee coffee. No juice. No nothing. Holiday in. Is a better hotel. I would stay at any hotel besides this one.
- 5/5
Great location for attending shows at Carolina Theater. Safe area with lots of dining/drinking options.
- 1/5
Dirty linen. I had to move rooms. Very unfortunate.
- 5/5
Great Spot
- 1/5
Just not Happy with this Motel … all room doors are on the outside of the room … we have been locked out 3 times … leaving us stuck out side in the cold Becky’s the room key dose not work … this has been a nightmare
- 3/5
Central location is great but if you are worried about noise this isn’t the place to stay.
- 4/5
Parking is $25 per night, but you do get unlimited in-and-out access, so that was nice. The room itself was pretty basic but did exactly what it needed to do for a short stay. Nothing overly fancy, but comfortable and clean. Would I stay here again? Yes, especially for a quick trip or concert weekend.
- 2/5
As long as you don't expect anything more than what you would find at a mid-range motel-it's fine. Very basic rooms, somewhat noisy, nothing to write home about.
- 2/5
Unfortunately the choice of hotels in Durham is pretty terrible. The Unscripted is basically at the level of a mid-range motel. Very basic and uninspiring. As long as all you are looking for is just a clean motel room-it's fine. If you want something more luxurious (as we did) then it's a disappointment.
- 1/5
When we arrived, we were told one of the rooms we booked was not available and they have no backups available for us because they well oversold. I had a reservation for 2 rooms, both with 2 queens to accommodate 7 guests but they had nothing else available except for a single queen- accessibility room and they might be able to add a cot but it would be against fire code. We opted for the full refund. I don’t think I will be booking through Expedia or Hyatt again anytime soon
- 3/5
Great staff and location, but the hotel's age is showing. Renovations are needed to eliminate dampness and odor.
- 4/5
Cool hotel, great thai restaurant around the corner. I wouldn't waste my time to visit Durham unless I had to go.
- 3/5
Very poor service and amenities. Plus too “modern” without comfort.
- 4/5
Our room (201) was comfortable, clean and had nice natural lighting. The spacious bathroom and products were much appreciated. The hotel lobby could use a refresh as it didn’t match the light and brightness of the room. The garage could use a serious power wash and a repaint but it was explained to us that the garage was a separate operator from the hotel. The hotel’s central location can’t be beat.
- 5/5
Great for walking to downtown shows.
- 5/5
Awesome location. Very cool atmosphere. We were there for an art event and it was loud in the area. If you are looking for a quiet stay - this is not it. But if you are looking for a fun, upbeat atmosphere - book it now!!
- 5/5
Very nice receptionist staff
- 5/5
Great
- 3/5
They asked if I wanted my room serviced. I have never had any hotel ask this
- 5/5
I enjoyed my stay, rooms were clean , property is well kept but it’s definitely a remodeled motel with good decor.
- 5/5
Great visit..the downstairs bar and restaurant and bar was either not open or nobody went there, but this is a fun place
- 5/5
I am super proud man made you feel happy to be there
- 4/5
They said breakfast included it was for one person two check in. The girls in the front were very nice
- 4/5
The property has lots of amenities, including yoga, room service and a poolside bar. The only downside to this is that there was a dj at the pool during the afternoon, and it was so loud that, even with our door closed and pillows over our heads, we couldn't block out the sound. However, it did make for a very communal atmosphere.
- 5/5
Always love to come back to this hotel.
- 5/5
Was walkable to Bulls stadium. Bed was very comfortable. Liked the retro theme of hotel . Staff was very helpful.
- 5/5
Great customer service from front desk staffs
- 5/5
The staff were very professional and courteous !
- 5/5
Staff was awesome & room very clean.
- 5/5
Fun little hotel. Geared more towards adults. Lobby turned into a night club. Pool area nice but trying to hard to be resort with a pool area that small. I liked the views, location, and style of hotel. Would stay again.
- 5/5
In a fantastic location, unbeatable if you’re in Durham. Driving distance from major attractions. Parking was easy. Pool is fantastic, was fun to head to it any time and was open late. Very friendly bartenders at the pool! Drinks were great, food looked good didn’t have any. I will say it was pretty hard to get the VIP breakfast tickets, but once we got it, not too bad a of a deal especially if you’d be traveling solo. Room was roomy and clean, had a slight smell of sulfur??? Nice and quiet though, even with the hotel parties and pool right by the room.
- 5/5
Great spot to stay if you’re going to a show at the Carolina Theater or DPAC. Both of the night time bartenders were great. We also really enjoyed the DJ.
- 5/5
Front desk staff were the best!
- 5/5
an hour I was checked in.
- 5/5
Terrific location, beautiful pool area, and very friendly staff!
- 3/5
ll. Very unlikely to stay there again.
- 1/5
Great staff! EVERYTHING else was horrible. We get to our room, fully unpack, AC isn't blowing cold and I step in a large gross wet spot on the carpet. We asked for additional towels to lay down and for maintenance to come look at the AC that was obviously leaking. We were told the AC would have to be removed from the wall bc the drain was blocked. Things happen, I'm just frustrated that we had to repack to move rooms. Thomas brought us our keys personally and moved us to a room very close on the same floor. Great! The air worked perfectly!! However.... the toilet would not flush half the time. We had to take the tank lid off countless times to add water to get it to flush. By this point we are over it, we were staying two nights and I was so tired of complaining, so we just made it work. My biggest complaint comes to the pool "bar/restaurant" that was advertised prior to booking... that's a joke. This hotel showed images of beautiful drinks and plates of food out by a sunny pool! THIS was the entire reason I booked this hotel in the first place. Such false advertisement that I'm still mad I wasted my money. The pool bar doesn't even open until the sun goes down... By this point we were officially OVER THIS HOTEL!!!! Only reason I'm even giving the place one star is bc of the AMAZING staff you have that had to work way too hard trying to make things right. They deserve a raise.
- 2/5
The staff was super friendly, but we were not happy with our room. It was very damp throughout our stay and our shower was not cleaned at all. There were numerous long dark brown hairs on the wall. It also seemed weird that there was only one desk chair and no other seating in the room. Lastly, though not that important, the bar does not have a cocktail menu.
- 5/5
Very nice.
- 5/5
Super helpful staff,
- 2/5
Air conditioning was not working. Reported to desk, when we went out. Returned at bedtime, still not working. Was not offered another room . At checkout, I inquired about a discount or refund. Was offered points towards a future stay. Won't be a future stay.
- 4/5
The property was convenient to DPAC. Surprised to be charge Destination Fees and Parking. These charges should be disclosed.
- 4/5
The room was very comfortable and clean.
- 5/5
Great location.
- 5/5
Will definitely stay again on another trip to Durham.
- 3/5
It’s okay. Kind of reminds of an old beach motel. The pool was extremely dirty but it was windy as all get out that day. Rooms were fine. Staff was excellent and extremely helpful.
- 5/5
The staff are amazing ... best place to stay in durham ... 5 stars all round
- 5/5
The Unscripted Durham is a hotel I see often when I come to town and have always wanted to stay here. It did not disappoint!!! My boyfriend and I traveled from Philadelphia and the room was just what we needed after our long drive. Our clean, comfortable, spacious room overlooked the Bull downtown and pool area. The staff were very friendly and knowledgable and we felt right at home away from home.
- 3/5
It was honestly a great stay nice bed. Nice TV nice area. One thing I didn’t like is why does the shower not have a door? I didn’t get that part water all over the floor everywhere but other than that pretty dope spot.
- 3/5
The positives were amazing location downtown and really comfortable bed. Just disappointing service and amenities for the price. Staff were helpful and pleasant every time we approached them but eventually we just accepted were not getting any requests fulfilled so didn’t spend much time in room
- 3/5
Expected more for what we paid. They had an overpriced breakfast.
- 2/5
Will not be returning
- 5/5
VIP included breakfast which was very limited but coffee plentiful, and the host for breakfast was delightful. They stored my luggage for a few hours, it felt safe and the receptionist was very helpful and accommodating!
- 4/5
Well first room I was given was not clean so I was placed in another room. I was satisfied with that and the staff was apologetic and accommodating. Thank you for trying to redeem yourself. I appreciate that.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff and very convenient to DPAC. Will definitely stay again!
- 2/5
The Friday and Saturday service desk reps were great. However, the room air conditioner and room telephone didn't work despite the maintenance person's attempt to fix them, TV apps like Netflix didn't work because the internet service was poor, so I had to walk down to the front desk, and there was no soap in the shower dispenser. Plus, I tried to use a food voucher on Saturday at 9:30 am, but they ran out of the sandwiches I wanted and didn't offer a reasonable substitute or compensation.
- 3/5
Unscripted is centrally located in downtown Durham - a big plus if you're in the mood to walk the city. We enjoyed our stay but do not expect a very updated hotel with modern amenities. The real letdowns that will likely make this our first and last stay was the surprise $15.00 per day 'Destination Fee' (which was not mentioned or made clear on Hotels.com), and no clear mention of breakfast availability for us. But hey, at least the $25.00 per day parking fee is mentioned up front. Luckily, many restaurants are within walking distance, and we enjoyed some really good food & beverages.
- 2/5
We visited your hotel in January and had a very positive stay. So positive that we invited our friends to join us for this most recent stay. We waited in line quite a while to check in. Once checked in the Receptionist had very little knowledge of charges he was applying and seemed very confused. We checked in ok. Our friends were told, with a confirmed room, that there was no room for them and the hotel had upgraded them but they would have to pay for the upgrade. When our friends said that did not make sense, they were then told that there was no room for them! We had 5:00pm dinner reservations, prior to a play, and, because of this, we missed our dinner reservation as the Receptionist could not seem to figure out what to do for them and said that all management was in a meeting. Our friends ended up changing for the evening in the lobby restroom. FINALLY at 5:30pm we pressured the Receptionist to get someone in management, which finally happened. They did give our friends a room and we were on our way. This was very embarrassing for us as we had spoken so highly of your hotel and felt that the attention by the Receptionist, and management, was poor. This left a very bad impression on all of us. Our friends, staying at the same hotel, same dates, are Kathy Mulrenan. I feel that we both deserve some sort of compensation for this debacle in the form of a compensated room or reimbursement for our stay last night.
- 3/5
Modest property, very polite but inefficient and confused staff.
- 5/5
I really like the pool in the view in this hotel is very convenient if you wanna walk around the city.
- 4/5
Worth $500 for one night? No.
- 3/5
This hotel is in a great location. Lots of good restaurants, the convention center, Carolina Theater and Durham Bulls are just a few blocks away. The room was clean and comfortable. However, late night a couple tried to get into our room and kept trying over the course of several minutes and my husband yelling that we were in the room and they had the wrong room. In the morning, a staff member snaked a cable under our door to unlatch it while we were getting dressed. We told the front desk about both of these incidents but got a very mild response. When I received the bill, it was for a different room number than the one we were given keys to. Nice hotel and location- management could improve.
- 2/5
There is nothing to like about the property. It is basically three floors of rooms along three floors of a parking garage. The only bar or food service is outside. Very hard to believe Hyatt has its name on it. It was central Durham, thus a good location to get around to DPac, Campus, etc. But rooms were small service was zero. Asked for soap for the shower. Never got it. Asked for a hard copy reciept. Wouldn't print one. YUCK
- 5/5
Zaire(front desk) and Will(bartender) gave superior customer service. From check-in to checkout we felt extremely cared for particularly by these two employees.
- 1/5
The hotel did not offer anything and is empty. Also there is no bar or restaurant or breakfast as described. None of the promised amenities are opened.
- 5/5
Its A Vibe!
- 2/5
When we arrived at 4, check-in time, the lobby was full of families waiting for their rooms. There was nobody at checkin and we had to wait ten minutes to even hear our room (and clearly very many rooms) were not ready. They said it would be 20 min. We gave our number and went to have a coffee, but after an hour and fifteen they had not called (as they said they would when our room was ready), so we went back. The checking guy is again not there. We wait for 10 min. He finally shows up and he still has a long list of names and phone numbers of people who need rooms. He had a room for us—though he hadn’t called us. I guess he was just giving them to people who showed up rather than following his list. Completely ridiculous. Thus got a hotel charging $660 or something for two nights. Completely pathetic. And no housekeeping—though we hadn’t said we didn’t want it.

We will go again and look forward to it

Great, clean place. Stayed three night and didn't receive room cleaning, which was a little strange. Had to ask twice for someone to come unclog the toilet, but other than those two issues, it was a great stay.

Very nice staff! The layout of the hotel was odd, but it was very clean and met my be needs for an overnight stay. I’d stay there again.

The room was clean but a little awkward in the fact that it seemed only half of the room had been updated. The bathroom was amazing clean, beautiful, and recently updated but the rest of the room needed some help. The closets and cabinets were broken and damaged. I was put off by having to get out of bed and walk to the wall to turn off my bedside lamp. I had to search to find the in room microwave and coffee maker, then had no where to put them to use them. I wasn't too happy that I had to pay $25/day in order to park in the garage owned by the hotel. It was nice that we were able to walk to the theatre and a couple of restaurants, but there isn't much beyond that to visit close by, we still had to drive to most places. I was mostly just disappointed by the fact it was a little on the pricier side but didn't deliver. They didn't offer breakfast and cafe in the lobby only offered minimal options for breakfast that I felt were over priced. I paid $5 for a small iced coffee, and $20 for a simple hot sandwich.

The check in was quick and easy. Since they did not have the complimentary breakfast available on weekdays they gave me free parking! Great benefit - hooray to this hotel!

In a cute area of town. It was easy to find and had some cute shops nearby.

Booked the king studio. Wasn’t the cleanest room but hotel was definitely in a good location.

attached to a parking deck. access to lobby very limited at check in

Fun room. Good parking. Fun bar.

Hotel has bar and restaurant. Both were closed during our stay. Don't promote it if it's not available.

This is a partying spot, plain and simple. The hotel lobby was taken over by a high-volume DJ dance party on Saturday night that lasted into the wee hours with no regard for the comfort of guests. The resort fee is ridiculous and adds no value. I was shocked that this was a Hyatt property and will not stay here again.

My wife's comment "It's as if it's a posh youth hostel..."

We stayed in room #238, a “corner” room. While the bed was fantastically comfortable, we had difficulty with the heat, and complete lack of access to Netflix. The room was very clean but not fully functional. There were windows only on one wall, so while the room may have been in a corner, there were not views out two sides, as implied. The most unfortunate aspect was the inability to close the drapes to provide darkness in the room for sleeping. There were drapes but they were floor to ceiling and could not be closed due to everything (tv, coffee maker, light) being plugged in on that wall behind the counter top. This is a simple (and fire safe) fix) to cut the drapes to just below the window ledge on that one side.

Bar was closed. Restaurant closed. Not much staff

Great location. Just a few steps from the convention center, where the conference I was in town for was hosted. Clean and comfy with retro decor that’s too cute. My room overlooked the lively pool and bar so it was a little noisy, but earplugs were provided, and I didn’t mind. The lobby had a DJ, and if I were a few years younger, I would have had a ball dancing! I will definitely stay at this venue again the next time I’m in downtown Durham.

Convenient location. Easy walking distance to DPAC. Lots of options for eating or having a drink.

First time there, quirky hotel that fit my personality.
- 3/5
The room we were given was on the pool deck and literally behind the DJ booth. So we had to hear the music late and people talking outside our door very late. The location was great but I was looking for something a bit quieter.

There's no window! And the room had a terrible smell--not dirty or mildewy, but chemical-y. Gah. Awful.

Came here with my niece and brother. Great time amazing staff. Weekend are filled with activities for adults to do. Great atmosphere will stay here again.

Cool rooms (albeit small for the price of the room), beautiful lobby, check in was easy. I did see a few roaches outside my room though.

If you want a quiet place to sleep on a weekend, stay away. They have a DJ in the bar until 3 AM and the bass line was inescapable. In addition, some device was beeping in the hallway. Front desk did not answer or return my call about it. Breakfast offerings are limited. The sausage frittata was tiny and not at all tasty, but the sandwich was very good. Otherwise, everything was adequate. Service was good.

We really enjoyed the vibe of this hotel. The retro yet modern look was great, and we had no idea that The Patio would be such a party! We lucked into “Salsa Sunday,” and it was really fun. Also, the location is amazing, and downtown Durham is an awesome place to explore.

Great central place to stay in Durham

Very nice hotel Mondays are off night. No Barr definitely need to come back when things are more exciting.

Slight hiccup during check-in (apparently reservations via Hotels.com are hard for them to find) led to them not having the room I’d requested, so we got a nice upgrade to the BEST room right off of the pool deck. The drinks at the poolside bar were a little disappointing but that’s really the only knock

Good walkable food choices close by with delivery available and I liked the Mediterranean restaurant on site. The only negatives were I couldn’t reach anyone when calling the main number to use the options for front desk and housekeeping, just voice mail. Also, the kind gentleman at the front desk suggested when I checked in that I stay in a room NOT facing the pool, but I was with younger family and wanted a room next to them. To be fair I was given options, but the parties at night were] extremely loud. I’ll still go back, just choose a different part of the building. My family members had fun.

I was greeted with a smile! My room was clean & spacious. I enjoyed the Rooftop pool & DJ. I’ll definitely stay here again when I visit my daughter (Duke School of Medicine)

They opened the roof top pool to public and had DJ playing late into eve. We were there for family trip with kids specially for the pool and were really frustrated.

I was not allowed in the pool area because I brought a open container from my paid for room.I had to purchase all beverages from the hotel.
