Everyone from the car valet to front desk staff were so friendly and helpful. Having a Starbucks in the lobby was also incredible.
- 4/5
Only complaint is that the AC in the room smells awfully moldy. They need to have their HVAC serviced. Otherwise, very quiet and clean.

N/A Lightning in the bathroom was very dim. It would be great if you offered a free breakfast

This is a wonderful property and we enjoyed our stay. The only reason we gave it a 3/5 overall, is because they surge priced or the Duke Reunion window and it was quite expensive for what we received (ie. 2 nights for a double occupancy was $500/night and this is not a $500/night style hotel).

We did not stay for breakfast

Our three night stay was perfect! On Friday morning, I ordered a sweet potato hash for breakfast that was absolutely delicious! The breakfast bar on the weekend was great as well! The staff (front desk, restaurant, valet, and housekeeping) was excellent!

The room was clean but handheld shower wand did not work. The staff was great at the desk. The restaurant and bar was awesome.

We absolutely loved this hotel. We stayed here for my daughter's dance event. It was so nice to stay on the property of the event. This area is so nice and there is so much to do. We were so surprised to find an art festival within walking distance and a farmer's market. The view from the room was great- we could see another festival take place. The breakfast was good and a reasonable price too. We will be back for sure.
- 5/5
Great restaurants all around within walking distance

Clean room, respectful and polite staff, convenient location.
- 5/5
Great staff, very helpful and outgoing! Room was clean and quiet. We stayed here to attend a concert at Carolina Theater. Location was perfect, walked right out the side entrance and we were there. Will definitely stay here again for our next concert!!

Clean, convenient location

The lighting in the actual room was TERRIBLE. Actual visibility was restricted and I had to move the only lamp in the room - by an uncomfortable/small armchair around so I could read at the desk or in bed. I requested -- and paid for -- a king sized bed ..... but had 2 uncomfortable doubles. Every hotel I stay in these days provides a free bottle of water in the room. This hotel charges $5 a bottle

Room next to us the first night of stay was extremely loud until 1:30 in the morning. Hotel was notified at 12.

Great hotel, good staffs.

Convenient to the convention center. Valet parking and staff were so helpful. Rooms and Hallways were dark. There was a roach crawling across the floor while we were changing for bed. The shower leaked water into the floor. When cleaning up the water the white towel was filthy from the floor.

Personnel support and good customer service. Bathroom was badly repaired and provided and not so clean sensation. Shower tub had oxidation on the drainage area.

location is great, best thing about it. the property was not full but they put me on a floor with a fan running in the hallway to dry out the carpet; the room was musty and a bit sad, the windows were very dirty; I asked a few times about close restaurants and the staff was unaware of where anything was although friendly; I was a single woman on business and could have been upgraded to a better floor (I was on the second floor) with a nicer room but... I would choose another hotel nearby as this was not much better than a very basic motel with better branding in theory
- 5/5
The hotel is in a very convenient location for walking around all the different districts downtown. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast offered several choices ordered from a menu and was served quickly.

The door to room 311 allowed us to enter but when I went to exit it wouldn’t open. We were literally trapped in the room. A gentleman from engineering came who was super nice worked diligently to get the door open. After about 15 mins the door was opened. They switched to room 309. As we were getting settled in there I noticed the heat was blowing cold air on a cold night. Once again I called downstairs they tried to tell me it takes a while for the heat to kick in but I was just next door and that wasn’t the case. The desk clerked notified the nice engineer once again who came with a heater for back up although he was able to get the room heat going. At check out I give my ticket to the valet gentleman who comes back after 20 minutes and tells me my doors to my car “won’t unlock” I’m like sir go get my car please. He gets a younger gentleman to come assist him and like magic my car pulls up. The other gentleman didn’t know how to work the key fob. Then on top of that I booked and paid through Expedia. When i got to the hotels I thought I was giving my card for incidentals but nope they charged me for the total price of the room again. I paid for the room on the Expedia side and at the desk. I had to get a gentleman by the name of Chris to sort it out for me. He was super nice. On top of that they billed me for incidentals when I’m the one with multiple incidents and no tried to compensate until i spoke to Chris. This stay was a nightmare and I will never book here again.

Great clean hotel in downtown durham
- 4/5
There is no parking to unload upon arrival
- 1/5
Th AC didn’t work, they sent someone up and then offered a fan. They had no room service that evening and a limited menu. Drilling started at 10am so we left prior. I’ll never stay at that hotel again. I’ll avoid Marriot if possible.
- 2/5
Nice hotel, but we were there for our anniversary and told them so, paid extra for a corner king with a view and got 2nd floor room with construction going on outside the room in the hallway, plastic all over. Staff was great but way overpriced for the night we spent there.
- 5/5
The room was clean. The staff was very helpful and the food was good.
- 5/5
The check-in process was seamless and efficient. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Gary, the bar attendant, once again provided outstanding service—he truly goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Excellent hotel well organized
- 3/5
The hotels.com booking was not registered when I arrived at the hotel, so I had to wait ~30 minutes before I could check in. The attendant had to manually put the booking together. The hotel was under construction in parts and in the hallway where my room was located, so that was a nuisance. I had to park a car, which was expensive for the location and wasn't well advertised. Bartender was great.
- 3/5
Didn't like the $5 water, this level of hotel should provide a couple bottles a day during a stay. Also, should have some snacks available for purchase in the lobby.
- 3/5
Musty smell.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
We loved the corner room with views of downtown, the comfortable bed, fluffy towels, and excellent buffet breakfast.
- 3/5
Back! Poorly maintained and obsolete rooms, especially baths. Dark hallways and broken AC in the common area. Marriot needs to do a major upgrade or let this one go.
- 3/5
Noise from the streets. Especially motorcycles after 10pm.
- 5/5
The property was nice and affordable for a quick stsy
- 5/5
The staff made the stay for me. They were very attentive and helpful as we prepared for our event.
- 5/5
A special thank you to the evening front desk staff he was incredibly kind, efficient, and professional. After a stressful start to my trip, his friendly demeanor and quick check-in process immediately put me at ease. It made a huge difference and set the tone for the rest of my stay. I truly appreciate how he helped turn things around and made this part of the trip completely stress-free. The entire staff throughout the hotel was friendly and attentive. The amenities were excellent. I especially enjoyed having a Starbucks on-site for a convenient morning coffee. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Overall, my experience here was top-notch. Thank you again to the team, especially the evening front desk associate, for your kindness and professionalism. I highly recommend this hotel and will absolutely stay again when I’m in the area.
- 4/5
Good hotel. Clean and safe.
- 5/5
Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Would highly recommend.
- 2/5
I meant to make a reservation for 2 rooms and somehow made a reservation at the Marriott Raleigh City Center and mistakenly made the second room at the Durham Marriott.
- 5/5
It's kit
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Good breakfasts. Nice bar. Many wonderful restaurants in walking distance. Staff ready to guide us. Valet parking efficient.
- 3/5
The train is very loud. The breakfast is a la carte and too slow during the week.
- 5/5
The hotel was great - clean, quiet, and great breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Room was comfortable appointed. Bed was super comfortable. Shampoo and shower gel were fragrant. Katryna at breakfast was friendly, attentive and helpful. Great location!
- 5/5
Everything good here
- 5/5
Great service. Thank you!
- 5/5
The power was out for about 6 hours. But the staff was able to find me some coffee!!!!! ❤️❤️
- 4/5
Overall the hotel was good. Great location, however the first room I was given has a strong smell of mold so I had to ask to be moved.
- 5/5
On night to see a show at Carolina theater. Had a great time. Good stay and breakfast.
- 4/5
Our room attendant was attentive and helpful.
- 5/5
Really comfy well cared for hotel. Excellent breakfast. Overall wonderful stay
- 5/5
Great location, close to DPAC and super friendly staff. Breakfast upgrade was absolutely not worth it. That should have been free continental. Definitely don’t pay full price for it with so many good restaurants nearby. Otherwise perfect stay.
- 1/5
We were double charged for our stay. I was told they would remove the charge but they have not. I paid in advance prior to checking in and when my gf arrived they charged her card then tried to tell me I was only charged once. I’m sure mistakes happen but this one was uncalled for and I’m still waiting on them to remove one of the charges.
- 5/5
The property was safe, easy to get to, centeally located, had great options for dining in house and nearby, and had an incredible staff.
- 5/5
It also has a comfortable lobby with lots of space to relax plus a good breakfast.
- 5/5
I made the drive to Durham so I could see a show at the Durham performing arts center. The Marriott is very close. The hotel itself is clean and well cared for. My room was perfect. The thing that set this experience apart from a lot of other experience I have had was the employees. Every member I interacted with from the valet when I arrived, the women at the desk, a woman I spoke with in the bar to find out where I could get something to eat because it was late. Everyone without exception was so kind to me. I could not have had a better experience. You could have the most beautiful hotel in the world and one employee could spoil your stay. The employees at this property are worth their weight and gold.
- 4/5
I did have an issue with the toilet in my room. The tank would not refill completely after flushing and would not shut off. Someone was sent to address the problem. Unfortunately it was a temporary fix.
- 5/5
Convenience to Carolina Theater
- 5/5
Great room! Super clean!
- 5/5
The location is the best! It is central and one could go into any direction. It is in close proximity to many local eateries and bistros. However, the rooms are clean and spacious. The physical plant itself is clean, and the decor is awesome! The bonus--the staff is very professional and friendly. Everyone I encountered asked what they could do to make our stay better. I would higly recommend this property to anyone who needs a good hotel in a safe neighborhood. Again, an excellent location!!
- 5/5
Super close to the Durham Bulls stadium!
- 3/5
Nice location but room was not clean enough.Behind the chair on the floor was jacket left probably by previous guests.
- 4/5
Great stay. It was the perfect location to walk to restaurants / bars / DPAC. Would definitely stay here again.
- 3/5
Windows were dirty and old.
- 5/5
Came for the Anthony Hamilton concert at The DPAC. Awesome hotel. Great location. Excellent restaurants nearby in walking distance.
- 4/5
Staff was kind.
- 5/5
Great. Would stay here again
- 5/5
Excellent staff and service.
- 5/5
My stay was great, the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.
- 5/5
Hotel is a bit old but it’s well maintained. Very convenient location. Comfortable room, nice and spacious lounge. Parking was reasonable $25 overnight, but you can also find nearby. Good service.
- 5/5
Excellent hotel. Staffs are really nice. Especially the receptionist, Christoper was extremely helpful during check in and with additional requests.
- 1/5
I booked a room for my wife and daughter. Upon arrival, and check-in, they discovered a malfunctioning toilet. After reporting the issue to the staff an engineer was dispatched and reported the issue as fixed which was not the case. My wife repeatedly reported the recurring issue to the staff, to no avail. My family had to manually fill the toilet tank with water using a cup before each use in order to flush. Needless to say we will not be staying in this establishment again.
- 5/5
The property was clean and staff was cordial.
- 5/5
Wasn’t crazy about the key for the elevator. I had to help so many older adults get to theirfloors
- 5/5
Super convenient location with friendly and helpful staff!
- 5/5
Parking was very convenient with a garage right around the corner.
- 4/5
The staff was amazing.
- 5/5
Will stay again on next visit
- 2/5
I blame the staff
- 5/5
I liked it.
- 5/5
Very nice facilities and friendly staff!
- 4/5
Great stay!
- 4/5
Near the DPAC
- 5/5
Great and helpful staff. We enjoyed having a restaurant in the hotel. Thanks for a wonderful visit.
- 4/5
Hotel card reader had trouble running my credit card which caused a check in delay and my card being double charged. I had to meet with their accounts department the next morning to get it resolved. Not cool!
- 5/5
Really nice property convenient to most attractions. Very courteous staff. Nice, quiet room.
- 5/5
Just what we expected. Best value for the dollar and added to a great evening.
- 4/5
Close to Carolina Theater.
- 5/5
Great place
- 3/5
Wi-fi is not free unless you booked the room directly. Breakfast starts at $20. Staff not very pleasant.
- 5/5
We had a great stay and will definitely be back next time we go to Raleigh!
- 5/5
I was pleasantly surprised
- 5/5
We loved getting the text early in the morning that our room was cleaned and ready. Plus the check in online was great! Kim on Housekeeping was a sweetheart, so helpful and informative about the Durham area. Great trip, wonderful place to stay!
- 5/5
Very clean and enjoyable. Food options are limited.
- 5/5
Alex and then valet service excellent
- 5/5
We only spent one night but everything was great!
- 4/5
Room was nice but bathroom door was a glass sliding door that didn’t close well and was very loud. We came in late and grabbed some microwave food from gift area. The microwave my husband had to use was dirty. It was fine and everyone was nice but for the price of one night I was not blown away.
- 5/5
All of the staff at the hotel was so friendly. The valet service was lovely as well. Everything was so clean and nice, I enjoyed my stay comfortably.
- 5/5
Clean, updated surroundings
- 5/5
The locations us central to downtown Durham. We were able to walk to restaurants and the DPAC for a concert within a few minutes minutes. The location feels safe.
- 4/5
Breakfast was super expensive
- 5/5
Great location in central Durham. You can go anywhere easily from the hotel. Nice views from hotel windows. Very comfortable rooms. Lovely lobby and sitting areas. Will stay here again.
- 1/5
Breakfast not included. This was a hardship for me because of a medicinal regimen that requires me to take a second round of medicine an hour after my cancer drug with food. Also, the Starbucks is insanely overpriced. Parking availability was misleading according to what was stated online. When we asked at the door about parking, we were told it was at the bottom of the hill. We drove around for a bit and eventually tried the parking garage. I was also disappointed to find out that I would have to pat for internet access even though I am a rewards member because I happened to book through Expedia this time. I will be reluctant to stay at your properties in the future. P.S. no hooks in the bathroom, shower head too low, limited TV channels, no TV listings printed, no list of nearby restaurants. Do better.
- 4/5
It’s in a really good central area downtown. The staff is super nice, friendly & helpful. The rooms are a little dated. Definitely don’t like the door to the bathroom.
- 4/5
This was a good stay but the property itself felt very business oriented, and I was traveling with small kids. We went to the restaurant and waited forever but no one served us though I could see others (without kids) were being served. I assume they were understaffed but still frustrating. The area around the hotel has a lot to do which is nice!
- 5/5
Brian Brill is an outstanding GM
- 5/5
Everything about our stay was great. There is no self parking on site but the valet was reasonable at $25. The only drawback was the halllway noise because we were in room 306 adjacent to the elevator. It would be great if they could silence the “ding” sound every time the elevator arrived on the floor. We didn’t have the breakfast but it looked delicious. The hotel is within walking distance of a number of restaurants and attractions.
- 4/5
Our room was clean and quiet.
- 2/5
The condition of the hallways was horrendous! The rugs were damp, they had fans on several floors. The hallway smelled musty and nasty! My room smelled the same way. There was water coming up from the floor. I made sure I always had shoes on. The bathroom molding had black mold on the bottom. I should have taken pictures but it was there. I only was there one night. Other family members were at the hotel and had to ask for toilet paper, towels and room cleaning. I was glad I was there for one night. The lady that worked at Starbucks was very nice and pleasant!
- 5/5
I got an upgrade, however, room 202 was a little warm and air conditioner was noisy.
- 3/5
-location!! Great within walking distance of DPAC! -the parking garage next door was free over the weekend -easy check in and friendly housekeeping staff The cons: -honestly the biggest con is that the bathroom has a sliding door and no fan. So it doesn’t feel very private at all. This was fine when it was just me and my husband but did make it uncomfortable when more family members stayed in the room as well. -no microwave, just FYI. We didn’t need it but there was a mom who needed to heat up formula for her baby and had to figure out something else.
- 4/5
Walking distance to Carolina Theater.
- 2/5
Hated the glass bathroom door that slides somewhat into place. It did not provide good privacy. Seemed like everything was extra, breakfast, parking, coffee, water. Seems a bit ridiculous after paying a lot to stay there.
- 5/5
Front desk was very nice.
- 4/5
We had a broken bathroom door i our room that wasn't able to be fixed but I did appreciate the parking comp.
- 3/5
Location is excellent, and staff was excellent. However the hotel needs upgrades. Our faucet leaked, the toilet was cracked at the base, rust in the tub and a cracked mirror. The room was clean but warn for sure. Not a 4 start property as rated. It took away from other positives about the hotel and area.
- 5/5
Room very clean. Big issue is the lighting in the room and bathroom. No light on the bed stand so impossible to read in bed. Lighting too dim in bathroom to put on make up.
- 4/5
I had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The hallways were too dim. The hotel is a little overrated for the cost.
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 5/5
We were there to see a comedian that was conveniently next door at the Carolina Theater. The hotel staff we’re friendly, the room was handicap accessible, wonderful large tv. The bed was a little firmer than I a used to, but otherwise, the stay was perfect.
- 5/5
Great location. Clean rooms.
- 5/5
Super clean, very friendly staff, so convenient to the Convention Center
- 5/5
nice convenient place downtown close to lots of restaurants
