The staff is friendly, the beds are comfortable, and the room was really clean. Unfortunately, the ceilings are thin. It was hard to sleep at night because of the noise.

The overall stay was good and the staff was pleasant, but I did experience some inconveniences that affected my experience. The biggest issue was having to change rooms three different times before getting one that was suitable. In my first room, there was standing water in the bathtub, a half-burned cigarette left in the shower, and human hair on the shower walls. After reporting the issue, I was moved to another room, but that room also had standing water and hair throughout the bed that appeared to be a mixture of human and pet hair, which I understand can happen at a pet-friendly hotel. I then had to go through another room change, which took about 30 minutes total walking back and forth and checking rooms. Thankfully, the third room was fine with no issues. I also noticed that I wasn't the only one experiencing problems, as some of my friends who checked in had issues with their rooms as well. Aside from the inconvenience of changing rooms multiple times, the stay itself was okay, but I do think housekeeping and room inspections could use more attention before guests check in.

The living room was quite filthy. The couch was torn like it was 100 years old than when he said it just soaked. Shower was also quite filthy on the floor.

The room was dirty and had a bad smell (which transferred onto my clothing etc.) There was mold in the bathroom. If it hadn’t been the busiest graduation weekend in the chapel hill/durham/raleigh of the year, and no where else was available, I would have moved.

The bathroom ,kitchen ,bedding were spotless. The staff were very pleasant and friendly. Building needs a little physical updating. Generally it was a pleasant stay.

Overall a nice stay. Clean, nice, everything worked good with the exception of the key card had to go to the office several times because we couldn’t get in our room. But would definitely stay there again.

It wasn’t that bad. The prices scare me now because some hotels I will not stay in because of the organization that runs it. This hotel shocked me and I will stay there again

Everything was excellent and the staff was friendly.

Clean and comfortable room, pleasant and helpful staff, plenty of parking, and surprisingly quiet. The building is beginning to show some age but is obviously well maintained so we had no issues. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

This was the worst stay ever ! None of the room phones worked , a lot of noise complaints, there was a pungent smell throughout the entire establishment and the couches and chairs were soiled and torn up … just horrific.

When I said something about it, she went in and wiped it with a towel! It cost to stay here! the services are only offered every 7 days so it seems they would do a good job. Se did not sweep or mop the floor, but i passed her today doing that in another room! I was really annoyed by that!

I was in need of a comfortable bed, a hot shower, in the exact location of the intersection of highway 55 and highway 54 in Durham. The Candlewood Suites delivered on all three conditions, plus the room looked exactly like it was pictured so I have absolutely no complaints.

Great value and size of room was nice. Always like a kitchen area. Full refrigerator and kitchen was pleasantly stocked. The refrigerator and air conditioning unit kept me awake all night. Loud!

I love the room the private room… it was like being at home. The staff was nice the hotel was peaceful and Better cleaning tub, and think every room should have a broom. And the AC/Heat was not working properly to keep the private room warm.

The staff was very nice. The location was excellent. The outlets all worked well. The shower was equipped with refillable bottles of soap, shampoo and bodywash....except the bodywash bottle was empty. Since we were going to a more formal event, we needed to hang clothes in the closet. The floor of the closet was VERY dusty.

The issue I had was during my first night stay. About 4:30AM I was awaken by a beeping sound every 10-15 seconds. I couldn't figure out what it was but I waited about 30 minutes in hopes maybe whatever it was would stop. At 6:30AM it was still happening so I called the front desk. I informed the clerk on duty. She said it probably was the smoke alarm detector battery. She told me she'd have maintenance come fix the problem when they came on duty. So, I figured 8AM the problem would be resolved but at 11:30AM I still was being annoyed by the problem and really annoyed that nobody had come of to fix it. For me, this was very unprofessional and a guest shouldn't have to put up with this more than 5 minutes after informing the front desk. So, I called back down and informed the clerk that I've put up with this for 7 hours now and it wasn't acceptable. She told me she'd have someone come up immediately to solve the problem. Which it did happen but I truly believe if I hadn't called back down 7 hours later. Nobody would have shown up at all until I made that 2nd call. This was my only beef but I think you would agree it was a huge one because a guest shouldn't have had to make a 2nd call to fix such an annoying sound. If you put it into perspective -- 1 beep every 15 seconds = 4 per minute = 240 per hour x that by 7 hours and I had to endure that beep 1680 times before it was fixed. Yes, I could of left the room but I don't like leaving the room unattended

The fact that I booked my room online and sent a message to them saying I was doing that so I could try to keep my same room because I wasn't able to extend it in time and when I showed up to do that Management told me I couldn't stay there anymore and I hadn't done anything wrong.

We really enjoyed our stay. The kitchen in our was very convenient. The bed was very comfortable! I love IHG sheets and beds, wish they would tell us where they get them. The service was fantastic. The two ladies are the front desk were so kind and helpful. We also appreciated the late check out. We never figured out how to turn the tv on, but luckily didn’t need it. The desk receptionist stated she will contact the manager to address these issues. However did not return my husband went back to the desk an hour later and was told that management will take care of it in the morning. It was okay. The room was moderately clean, but the bed seemed to be the most clean, which is ideal. The room needs a heavy deep clean as there are multiple cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. It also slightly smelled like smoke, which I promptly alerted the clerk so we wouldn’t be charged. Overall, the bed was clean and comfy. It was good for a quick 1 night stay.

Overall my stay was good however, the hotel can do better in regards to cleaning, particularly, the furniture. The chairs and sofa in my room were visibly dirty and stained. Also the carpet by the elevator on the first floor had a strong smell of urine. However, the staff was friendly and the hotel felt safe and quiet overall.

The ventilation vent was not working in the bedroom to circulate the air from the living room there was a crackhead knocking on my hotel door at 2 o’clock in the morning, asking for some female that wasn’t in that room

The agent that checked us in was very kind and friendly the hotel room although it appeared to be clean when we walked around with our socks, the floor was extremely dirty. The chairs were dirty. The property was very quiet and clean. Everyone that worked at the property was extremely nice and considerate. The room had everything you needed for the stay. Including a measuring cup!

The hotel is a bit worn down. The people are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I like the full kitchen and coffee pot in the room. Good water pressure. Small TV , no HBO A/C was load but worked well. It’s close to restaurants, grocery store and Starbucks. I would stay there again.

Didn’t spend much time at the property, but the staff was amazing, honestly.

Not a good experience. The staff was great but the facility was bad. Furniture was old, dirty, worn out and damaged. 1 room the toliet did not flush, bad smell, small insects, and microwave hood was broken off. Room 2. Broken oull out, filthy chairs and sofa bed broken . Room 3 ( 1:10 am when we arrive back from the ceremony) no electricity except the bathroom and bedroom. Window was opened, small insects in kitchen area, dry blood or mud (looks like) at bathroom entrance. Bedroom was fine but the rooms need some major TLC. Bathroom grab bar broken. Unsafe for my disabled mom. Smh

Was clean for the most part, except there was other peoples hair all in the bathroom, in the shower, in the sink, in the washer, and even on the towels.

I will never go back they had lice and bedbugs i didn't seem a housekeeper they didn't clean my room

I can't say much because I haven't been able to stay yet. Said that all the rooms were taken so I had to drove for many hours finding another place

All the staff I interacted with where absolutely fantastic.

The "kitchen" had NOTHING. i had to ask for plates and silverware

Great hotel for the price. My room had a musky odor. Since I was out of the room for the majority of the time I was in Durham, it was not a deal breaker.

Very obvious linens were not changed. Dirty footprints on walls.

I got a suite and it was very dirty. There were huge stains on the furniture and the was a weird smell emitting from the carpet in the hallway.

The staff was helpful but the rooms are less to be desired they need to do a better job cleaning especially in the current state of the world today

Due to the business of the week with it being the State Fair, we didn't have another option for a place to stay so we basically cleaned the room ourselves, purchased disposable kitchenware and made do with what we had. If someone was to ask me if I would recommend this place I would say No! I do want to say though, the staff that we did see and communicated with were very friendly. As for the parking lot, it had great lighting and we felt very safe in the parking lot. There were a lot of good restaurants in the area and

The room I stayed in was rundown; discolored and peeling toilet seat, cracked bath tub, rubber glove tied around the shower head, beat up cabinets.

Rooms are not updated. Low budget. Furniture old, curtains, old. Just poor condition and cleanliness of hotel. The hotel even smelled old.

The staff was excellent, the first room we went into the refrigerator icemaker didn’t work. The stove was busted no glasses or silverware in the room The microwave didn’t work. This room needed a lot of work. The other room they moved us to the microwave didn’t work in that one room 108 also the toilet paper dispenser in the bathroom was not there. But the staff did their best.

Stayed after my wife’s surgery. Quiet and convenient. Not fancy but comfortable bed, good sleep!

The staff is really friendly and nice and know there job. However, the room wasn’t as clean as it could be the sofa could use a good cleaning and the chairs could be cleaned as well other than that all is well.

Irresponsible with keeping the rooms clean. I should not have to beg for them to clean my room at least once a week. Other than that, the stay is fine and the staff is wonderful. Also out of five washing machines and dryers only two of each work properly. That makes it hard for people to efficiently get their laundry done.

It was going well. We were impressed with the kitchen with it's apartment sized fridge and nice pillows and then a roach crawled on me while in bed. We wanted to just jump in the car and head home but thought better if it and waited until we couldn't stay awake anymore. Caught a couple of hours and shock everything out and left.

The tubs in both rooms were dirty, there were dead bugs in one of the rooms, floors wasn’t swept and there were no phones in the room and linens were very limited.

i like the outside and the room set up but i didnt like the little asss bathrooms and ceiling leaking on the floor

The stay was ok. I ws traveling due to work. The room had a garbage disposal that didn't worrk. The caulking around the bathtub was molded. It was ok for the two night stay that was needed for work.

Good that Executive Management came to clean the hotel and professionally get things back in order for accommodations. This hotel is stellar for helping people who have hardships. Excellent staff and tenants are family oriented. But, the hotel has to make a profit.

Location is definitely dated. There were stains and obvious wear to the sofa and other furniture. On the flip side there is a nice patio area outside and the staff was kind and accommodating

Cons: Property is kind of run down. The whole place has a very distinctive odor, which is kind of a combination of smoke, incense, and food smells. I would guess that some people are living there long-term. The room is not the cleanest (but not gross, just lived-in) and fixtures need updating. Fitness center and laundry room are one big room.

Things were broken in the room vents on the floor and towel holder in bathroom refrigerator door. Carpet on the stairs was dirty

Nothing liked.. you need to renovate the entire inside rundown broken down building.. the furniture is worn broken lamps missing.. wall fixtures damaged.. yet you want to save a penny for your company and leave it like that..

Not such a nice place.

This entire facility is filthy and smells like pot. The staff was indifferent to the condition of the rooms and the property. THe AC unit was duct taped to provide air to the rest of the room. There was mold on the walls by the AC unit and on the shower curtain. People were living in this hotel and the staff knew them by name. There was someone trying to kick in the door of an adjacent room at 2:00am and they said they were staff. the carpets in the room were atrocious and I did not dare go barefoot during my entire stay.

The dog that checked us in was great. The attendant was too!!!

My room looks like it barely been cleaned. Thankfully I have a cleaning business and was able to tidy up my room a bit. There was dirty linen in my room still! So gross
