Reviews
The Strater Hotel is a historic and charming establishment, appreciated for its authentic decor and old-world ambiance. Guests enjoy its central location in downtown Durango, close to shopping, dining, and the train station. However, some guests express dissatisfaction with the comfort of the mattresses and the lack of certain amenities, such as coffee makers in the rooms.
- Historic charm and authentic decor
- Central location in downtown Durango
- Uncomfortable mattresses
- Lack of certain amenities (e.g., coffee makers in rooms)

It was a very unique well cared for hotel
- 5/5
Location can’t be beat.
- 4/5
Didn’t care for trains coming through town but certainly not hotel’s fault
- 5/5
close to train
- 5/5
We went to the Diamond Belle and had so much fun! My husband ran into a high school friend, they played violin together and hadn’t seen each other in 45 years! The fit was great, the staff was awesome, and the entertainment was the best!
- 5/5
Fantastic historic hotel with free larking helpful staff a great affordable restaurant with a piano player. Beautiful rooms and furniture all well kept. Loved it
- 5/5
Enjoyed staying in a historic hotel that was very well maintained.
- 4/5
Very nice historic room. Antiques abound. Three restaurants. We tried The Office. It was nice to have some live music along with our dinner. Also nice to be able to order off the Diamond Belle’s menu there. Within walking distance of many restaurants and shops and the Durango to Silverton train. Only downside was that someone siphoned gas out of our rental car.
- 4/5
Just wish they had some kind of breakfast available.
- 5/5
Full function hotel. Right in the center of town. Convenient parking in the rear. Room was a good size. I enjoyed dinner and drinks in the hotel's restaurant. Live music in "The Office" bar was perfect. Staff was helpful after another worker made an error and sent me to the wrong room. I'll stay there again.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel
- 5/5
Charming historic hotel in the heart of downtown. Location could not have been better. Room and bed very comfortable. You can reserve the jacuzzi for 30 minutes in a private room (the only real amenity at the property), which was terrific. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
Amazingly well maintained, historic property! Great location too! We were charged extra for “amenities” and I’m still not sure what those were. We still enjoyed our stay and were very comfortable.
- 5/5
Staff very personable and friendly. Clean room. Love the saloon! Will definitely stay again!
- 5/5
Beautiful historic property right in the middle of Durango. The amenities are quaint, not as modern as most, but it adds to the charm.
- 4/5
Staff at the front often had an attitude when I would speak with them
- 5/5
Great old classic hotel. They have three areas to park in so that want an issue. Great location. They also have a hottub that can be reserved for a half hour.
- 5/5
Perfect location. Wonderful staff.
- 4/5
Nice place great location
- 5/5
Very beautiful hotel & the staff was excellent.
- 5/5
We loved the history of the hotel. It felt like we went back in time. An awesome experience and we will stay again the next time we are in Durango.
- 5/5
If you havnt stayed here yet you have to atleast once while visting Durango! All the rooms we have stayed in have been super cute and cozy. The shower is alittle small but that’s an old building for ya! Staff is super friendly and the parking included off main is pretty sweet. Being next to the track, expect the train to wake you up in the morning!
- 5/5
This place is beautiful!! We always live staying in these older historic hotels!
- 5/5
The place is awesome a real antique hotel!! Perfect location restaurants everywhere you look. Staff really great! I stayed with family great experience!
- 4/5
We loved staying at this beautiful historic hotel. Loved the guys in the band who played in the bar, loved the Office restaurant, and wonderful coffee in the morning, the great location. Our only complaint was the unexpected add-on of $20 when we checked in for the upkeep of the building? The girl that checked us in told us it was for the band and the hot tub and then the next people that came who were very unhappy about the charge were told it was to pay for employees and the upkeep of the building. It was a really strange experience and unfortunately left us with a bad feeling when we signed up to stay at this beautiful hotel there was no mention of this extra charge. It did not feel professional.
- 5/5
Everything was amazing from the staff to the historic hotel to the beautiful, clean rooms.
- 5/5
Clean room, comfy bed, right downtown and easy to get to everything. Private hot tub was great!
- 5/5
Love this hotel. Resturants and bars on sight. Convenient.
- 4/5
We booked our room a long time ago. By the time we made the trip, my wife was in a wheelchair. The hotel is not very suitable for handicapped people.
- 5/5
Very clean historic hotel. Staff was very friendly
- 5/5
The rooms, the atmosphere, the saloon, the beautiful Victorian details… every part of the property made the stay memorable. But what really made it special was the staff. Everyone we interacted with was genuinely kind, welcoming, and incredibly helpful throughout our trip. If you’re visiting Durango and want something beyond a typical hotel stay, this place is absolutely worth it. We’ll definitely be back on our next trip to Colorado!
- 5/5
And fun bars on either side
- 5/5
Perfecto
- 5/5
Thoroughly enjoyed the historic hotel.
- 5/5
We loved our stay here. The hotel is beautiful and clean. The front desk staff were delightful and accommodating. The bar/restaurant had good food and drinks, great atmosphere with fun, lively staff and a great pianist! Easy walking to shops, restaurants and the ‘must not it miss’ - train depot.
- 5/5
2 nice places to listen to music and eat a reasonably priced meal. The steakhouse is excellent food, but quite pricey. For those that want that, it's fine.
- 4/5
Very nice historical hotel. Food is excellent! Great salad, chicken pot pie and filet mignon. Rooms are very nice, the shower area is a little tight. Beds are comfortable and nice towels.
- 5/5
The property is beautiful and the history of the place is kept and showcased. The rooms are tight but as expected in a property of this age but clean and well looked after and provide everything you need. Location is great and the staff are friendly and helpful
- 5/5
Excellent staff, live music, comfortable beds. Will definitely stay again!
- 5/5
The hotel was so fun. The different food outlets were great. They played their 1886 heritage just right. Old time feel with modern touch. Everything in the hotel was tastefully done
- 5/5
Great downtown location. Room very comfortable.
- 2/5
Room smelled old and Dusty. I paid for a room with a queen and a single. I got a supposed upgrade to one room with a queen. Was not happy. The bed was concave. The water pressure in the shower was awful. I had to jump up and down just to get wet. The hotel itself is beautiful but the rooms are not worth a night's stay.
- 5/5
Clean room. Updated bathroom.
- 4/5
Nice hotel close to everything. The rooms/shower are a little small but thats to be expected in a historical hotel. Love that there is a bar and restaurant right downstairs. Free eaay parking. We would stay here again.
- 5/5
The room was clean and had everything we needed. Wish we had a chance to use the Victorian hot tub, but we didn’t have a chance.
- 5/5
I very much enjoyed my stay.
- 5/5
Beautifully restored, clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel! Will definitely stay here again. Warm, welcoming staff and spotless rooms!
- 5/5
We had an amazing stay at the Strater Hotel! The hotel is very historic and is so nice. The staff was incredibly helpful. We scheduled some time in the hot tub which was lovely! It is right in downtown Durango, so walking to restaurants, bars and shopping is easy from the hotel. Highly recommend a stay at the Strater!
- 5/5
room and hotel were great
- 5/5
Incredible hotel. One of the nicest I've ever stayed in. The saloon downstairs had amazing music and food and the rooms were gorgeous. Very walkable and easy to park. The staff was very great and they clearly take pride in this hotel.
- 5/5
Beautiful room, clean and quiet. Excellent Hotel.
- 5/5
Loved the STRATER. Loved the saloon, live music nightly and restaurants in the hotel. The only thing that could have been a bit better was the mattress. It was a bit bouncy.
- 5/5
The blue light on the air conditioner was annoying. The hotel was gorgeous.
- 3/5
Couldn't find the hot tub. Staff was good. Room wasn't special. Shower was to small and shower head wouldn't move far enough to hit correctly. Meatloaf was good at Belle. Old school charm. I stayed at Rm414.
- 5/5
We were there for one night. You had to go down to lobby to get coffee with half-and-half, no appliances in room. The bathroom tile was really cool. Not many places to hang things. Parking worked out OK for us.
- 4/5
Rooms can be very small. We stayed there several times. This stay the room was too small-only onec chair to sit and have coffee. Next time we will request a larger room. Staff and restaurants service was excellent
- 5/5
Most excellent stay!
- 5/5
Very nicely decorated 1890s historical style. Clean room and ample size room for comfortable visit.
- 5/5
Never used hot tub
- 5/5
This is a fantastic historic hotel in Downtown Durango.
- 5/5
Very nice
- 5/5
Highly recommend
- 5/5
Such a great restored piece of history. We live in the area and enjoyed our staycation for a night!
- 1/5
Staff were great, the room was clean and comfortable. The walls are paper thin and you could here people talking in the hall ways. They were cleaning up snow outside our window at 2 am so you could hear the loud trucks scrapping the snow and backing up. They also decided to pick up the trash bins at around 4 am. Too noisey for me, I would never stay here again.
- 4/5
Great experience & wonderful staff!
- 5/5
The hotel was beautiful and clean. The room was clean and I loved that there was information in the room about the name on the door. We ate at the Mahogany grill that was delicious! Then sat at the Diamond belle saloon and listened to the piano play! Everything about this stay was amazing from the employees to the atmosphere. I loved it!
- 5/5
Extraordinary hotel ...well managed, super clean everywhere, happy staff throughout.
- 5/5
Curteous staff, beautiful old hotel for all those that love history
- 5/5
Wonderful location and beautiful historic building
- 5/5
We didn’t “stay” at the Strater Hotel we had an “experience”.The Strater Hotel is a step back in time. The Strater is the most unique hotel I’ve ever visited . The staff was excellent. The Diamond Belle Saloon and the Office Spiritorium both had live music both nights we visited them. The atmosphere was amazing and the service and food were excellent. We are looking forward to time traveling at the Strater the next time we visit Durango.
- 1/5
Heater did
- 5/5
Yes. The room was clean and I had everything I needed. Very friendly staff and as always my favorite place to stay!
- 5/5
excellent
- 5/5
Excellent, helpful front desk staff
- 5/5
It’s was an amazing experience, can’t wait to go back already for our next stay in Durango
- 4/5
People were awesome, rooms were clean, water pressure great…. Showers, a bit small. Over wonderful stay, we will be back…
- 5/5
Amazing historic hotel! Loved everything about it.
- 5/5
Very good!
- 5/5
Easy check-in. Staff was very friendly and the hotel was beautiful and well maintained. The onsite bar was fun and the area was perfect for walking around the historic downtown.
- 5/5
This historic hotel is a gem, beautifully decorated, comfortable, convenient and full of fascinating details. Beautiful inside and out.
- 5/5
Great hotel! We loved our room and New Year's experience there!
- 5/5
Very clean
- 5/5
Clean beautifully historic hotel.
- 5/5
Whole experience was delightful and amazing!!
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel!! Staff was friendly and always gave me directions to where I wanted to go.
- 5/5
The room was spotless and the staff exceptional! The Diamond Belle Saloon was awesome too! The private hot tub experience was delightful! I will be going back and I will tell all my friends about this place!
- 5/5
Beautiful rooms and decor. My family and I had a wonderful time. Great bar in the lobby, charming ambience
- 5/5
Staff was amazing and friendly. The mattress in the room was very comfortable. Loved the charm.
- 5/5
Room was as advertised. Loved the ambiance of the hotel and the bar. Had a wonderful drink and dinner.
- 5/5
Clean rooms and professional staff
- 5/5
Kind and helpful people representing the hotel.
- 4/5
Fantastic location, though have to appreciate the train.
- 5/5
The staff is always very friendly and parking is easy. We adore the decor of the hotel and the vintage feel. It's our go to place when we are in town!
- 5/5
Wow. Its worth every penny. Room was quiet, well appointed bathroom, lovely furnishings, and comfortable bed. Beautiful to explore with self guided tour. Pìano bar was delightful. Easy parking and can walk out the front door and visit many shops and restaurants.
- 5/5
The only thing that I didn’t like was that they charged us parking which it wasn’t available and they charged me an extra fee without telling me and after I ask what it was they told me it was for if I wanted to use the hot tub which we only stayed for one night.
- 5/5
Very welcoming and the room was ready.
- 5/5
Enjoyable three day stay. Excellent food for dinner. They dont serve breakfast but is available closely. Beautifully restored and maintained building.
- 5/5
Charming room, courteous staff in a friendly and beautiful mountain town.
- 5/5
Cute historic hotel in the heart of downtown.
- 3/5
Oldest hotel in Durango and in a good location. However, this place is in need of serious room updating and should have better amenities for the price. The hollow doors are lame and the bathroom was uncomfortable, even though we are small people. Water pressure in the shower was terrible. The concept is awesome-- keeping the "wild west" vibe--but modernity should be considered, as well. I'm on vacation and I want to feel like I'm getting a 2025 vacation hotel experience, not 1925, which is around the time I'm guessing our room was fully remodeled.
- 5/5
Staff was wonderful
- 5/5
It was a cool experience staying at the historic Strater hotel. Staff were very hospitable. We loved the coffee bar set up on each floor, free coffee, very nice amenity. Free parking was great also, especially for a hotel in the middle of downtown Durango. It was nice having the Diamond Belle Saloon and the grille restaurant onsite. Our only complaint was the bed matress was too soft and needs to be replaced. Overall, great stay!
- 3/5
Can’t change the temperature in the room yourself. Shower is very small, can barely turn around. Bars are good, restaurant is overpriced. It is close to the sights in Durango.
- 5/5
Staff was absolutely wonderful and went out of their way to help. The history and character of the building was fascinating and easy access to downtown and the train. Diamond Belle was awesome as was the piano player!!
- 4/5
Overall a well decorated Victorian style hotel. Plenty of historical things to see and read about. The Mahogany Restaurant could use more dining options and is a bit overpriced for what they offer.
- 5/5
Hotel stay was excellent including room amenities, service and staff. The hotel is in center of the town and easily accessible to all the shops and entertainment. A must to stay place in Durango!!
- 5/5
Clean. Interesting. Fun.
- 5/5
Historic hotel!
- 5/5
The rooms were spotless and beautiful. The staff was very friendly. The heater was not working well, and only the first person taking a shower had warm water.
- 5/5
Property is historic and well maintained. They honor it well. Rooms are tiny, but charming and full of character.
- 4/5
Lovely historic hotel in the middle of downtown Durango. The hotel layout is a little disjointed in some areas, but that’s bc of the age. Staff was very nice and helpful and our room was comfortable. We were able to book a private session in the hot tub with the help of the front desk. Parking was fairly easy but is first come first served with several different lots. Location was perfect, you can walk to everything. Would recommend.
- 4/5
Parking was adequate, but off site. It was across the street shared with a restaurant. The room was nice. Beautiful antiques. Updated bathroom. The room had a thermostat, but it was locked and we were unable to change the temperature in the room. It was too warm for us. Even a fan would have helped. We tried to contact the front desk for help, but were sent to voicemail. Our stay was in late October so the outside temps were mild. We were able to barely open the window. But, being on the first floor and in downtown, security was a concern. Overall, a nice stay. The restaurant next doorwas great!
- 4/5
This hotel has a great location in a nice historic building with friendly staff. Our main issue was the fact that the thermostat was locked and we couldn’t get it cool enough. That was a something we had never encountered with other hotels.
- 5/5
Nice hotel and very friendly helpful staff!
- 5/5
Wonderful place to stay. 3 restaurants and live music every night!
- 5/5
Love Historic Hotels and will keep returning
- 1/5
I love Historic Hotels and this one we will keep returning to.
- 5/5
It was a charming historical hotel, and I also enjoyed the restaurant.
- 4/5
While living outside of Durango for 22 years, I stayed at the Strater numerous times. It was and still is a lovely hotel. When we asked about breakfast, I was a bit surprised to be told that the Strater no longer served breakfast for their guests at all. The reason was blamed on Covid. Really!?! Didn’t that end about 3 years ago? And the staff didn’t seem to care about it, told us there were other places nearby to get something. Oh well, I guess nothing stays the same.
- 5/5
Love the History. So very authentic.
- 5/5
This hotel was so awesome. The history and ease of walking around town
- 4/5
Very nice historic hotel with restaurants and bar located in site. Conveniently located downtown and very walkable to shops and restaurants. The only disappointment was the hot tub was out of service for my stay with nothing offered except apologies.
- 5/5
Very convenient location downtown. Close to Durango and Silverton train. Many dining options.
- 5/5
Everything was amazing. The staff was very helpful. The food in the Mahogany room was exceptional. It was fun to stay in the historic building.
- 4/5
Lots of shopping and restaurants nearby. Easy walking distance. Only complaint was pillows on bed were too flat and shower was a one person pretty much. Bed was comfy though and ac worked good. The saloon bar was good. The historic value was neat to look at.
- 5/5
Charming
- 3/5
The rooms are old, the shower small, but shockingly the best bed we slept in our entire trip to Durango. The pillows were half the size of a regular pillow so you have to use two. Please tell the staff at the front, while checking someone in, ask rude people that walk up with questions to wait and they will get with them shortly. Not leave the check in to speak with and help that person because they cannot wait. Also, parking is pretty bad.
- 4/5
As an "old" hotel it has all the things that people seem to love about Old--wallpaper everywhere, fake flowers, heavy fabrics, huge heavy wood furniture and the saloon looked like fun although we just didn't make it there in our 2 night stay. I was glad it was only two nights as I found our room to be rather depressing. It was quite small and had one narrow window. When I raised the shade, our view was a solid orange cement wall. I had to place my head against the glass and look up to even see a piece of sky. So the room was darker in spite of lamps etc. Trying to plug in electronics was another challenge. We were on the floor and moving furniture trying to find wall plugs. And then the shower in the tiny bathroom--sort of a triangle shape and so small you absolutely could not bend over if you dropped the soap:) Perhaps the smallest shower I have encountered in many travel years! We did get free parking within a block of the hotel so that was a plus for a city hotel these days. No breakfast offered but Durango has lots of food options. We would not stay at this hotel again but if you really love the old western experience, it may be just the hotel for you:)
- 5/5
Very nice antique style hotel located in the downtown durango
- 5/5
Great hotel with good service. The history and condition of things was outstanding.
- 5/5
Right in the middle of town - everything is convenient. Very quiet and the shower was great. Rooms are a little small but not a problem!
- 4/5
A step back in time. Bedding was comfortable. Shopping and dining great.
- 5/5
Lovely staff, bars flank lobby, fun music and easy access to activities.
- 3/5
When I expressed my discomfort to the management in the morning she suggested I call the front desk to have an electric heater brought up to the room. For the cost of that room I dont think I should have to deal with the noise of a little heater.
- 5/5
This was an interesting and convenient place to stay for taking the Durango to Silverton train.
- 5/5
Great place. Close to the Silverton-Durango train ride, restaurants & bars. Parking was off street, free and close. Room was big. In house food & entertainment good. Would recommend this hotel if in the Durango area.
- 4/5
The connected restaurant is unique. Stay away from the chicken pot pie.. it did not agree with one of us.
- 3/5
I know this is a period hotel, but i did not exoect not to have a shower in our room. Too period for me. Wont stay there again.
- 4/5
Great location
- 1/5
I called ahead to make sure the property was dog friendly and I booked a dog friendly room. I made sure they knew I had 3 dogs. I then arrived at the property to find out they only allow 2 dogs. I then had a hard time getting a refund for their error of telling me over the phone the number of dogs were fine and then even booking a room for me. It took nearly a month to get a refund. Will not book this again and I travel to Durango for work.
- 5/5
Have traveled alot and this is one of our favorite hotels. A step back in time elegantly presented. Front desk was wonderful, food in Saloon tasty and reasonably priced. Close to the train (love the whistles) and great shopping. Our 3rd visit and we will be back!!
- 5/5
Great room
- 5/5
Loved our stay in this historic property. Room was lovely, food was very good and the back room tour of the hotel and its history was fascinating and well done. Definitely take advantage of this if you stay at the hotel! Staff was wonderful!
- 5/5
Beautifully restored historic building and rooms. Great view from window of steam train, walkable to shops and restaurants.
- 5/5
Nice hotel! It’s like stepping back in time to the old west with modern conveniences!
- 5/5
Rockstar
- 2/5
I understand it’s old but it can still be clean
- 5/5
Beautiful property. Right in downtown area many shops and restaurants museum and train just down the street location was great
- 4/5
Very nice. Loved the hot tub experience!
- 5/5
Hotel had plenty parking. Great restaurant on sites
- 5/5
Nice
- 5/5
Great place to stay!
- 5/5
Town of Durango was fun and everything walkable
- 3/5
Someone banged on our room door at 11 pm then ran. No breakfast here either. Just OK.
- 5/5
Loved the hotel! It has so much character!
- 3/5
Nice historic hotel in good location BUT we were put on the first floor in the back which was a HUGE disappointment!!! Tiny room, barely could move, tiny bathroom, shower for someone under 5 feet tall, window shade had to be kept close as looked into parking lot and building wall. Super uncomfortable. Should have been half the price of other rooms.
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
Ornate, clean, friendly staff.
- 5/5
Loved our stay at the Strater. It was our first time to Durango. We were here for a wedding. We loved the added touch of the historic hotel for the wedding party. So much history in this hotel and town. Will definitely be back.
- 5/5
All the staff was great, helpful. thank you for making our stay so enjoyable
- 5/5
Beautiful historical hotel. The entire hotel is in period furnishings and the staff is exceptional. They also provide an historian for a tour of the hotel. There’s several eating options on site. We ate in the Saloon and the food was delicious. We are so glad we stayed here
- 5/5
Great hotel. The room was very clean and the antique furniture was very nice and the bed was comfortable. Whenever we have a chance to visit Durango, we will stay here. We enjoyed the bar with piano music and the bartenders were very attentive.
- 3/5
Shower supplies not refreshed. Beds were just ok. Beautiful historic building so you expect limitations but it wasn’t anything special.
- 5/5
Convenient, classic, comfortable, clean. Even if you don’t stay there check out the bar!
- 5/5
Awesome experience in a very cool older hotel!
- 5/5
Excellent experience at a historical hotel.
- 4/5
As described. Old timey, kitschy feel. Right in the middle of the action in downtown Durango. Room is quite small and a bit overloaded with furniture.
- 5/5
Loved the history and location
- 4/5
For a historic stay. You can't beat The Stater easily. Top hotel
- 5/5
Very friendly and accommodating staff.
- 5/5
Beautiful building and rooms. Friendly and helpful staff, easy check-in process and plentiful parking in multiple lots.
- 5/5
Great location with dining options and ample parking.
- 5/5
Historic property that has, especially the bathroom, been nicely updated. Located in the center of town.
- 5/5
Really beautiful hotel with quaint rooms. Room was clean and had charm. It was wonderful to be able to book the hot tub in advance so you could enjoy that time with just the person you are traveling with. The location is fantastic. Walking distance to everything in the downtown. You could hear the train that passes by during the day but it was a positive for us. We would definitely stay again. Price was reasonable and on par with other hotels in the area.
- 5/5
The best place to stay on the main drag. Lovely.
- 5/5
I really did enjoy the self guided tour of all the shadow boxes, etc. Such a cute hotel with huge history behind it.
- 5/5
Genuine Old West atmosphere and handily placed for the railroad station.
- 5/5
Great welcoming staff, quick and informative check in, beautiful room with comfortable bed, free coffee set up on the floor in the am -every thing was perfect.
- 5/5
The stay was relaxing after a long distance of traveling. Room was beautiful but cramped. i loved the decor and furnishing of the room/. Grandchildren loved and laugh at the book. Disappointed not to finding portal or candy in hidden drawer. Bathroom was very clean and room was cozy.
- 5/5
Great place
- 5/5
Great property, we will definitely recommend to friends and family
- 5/5
Great place, worked great for our vacation
- 5/5
Very nice review happy client
- 5/5
Beautiful property with all the beautiful furniture
- 4/5
The rooms are a little out dated. No refrigerator in the room. Very small. The bathroom was nice and big. Very clean! Beds arent the most comfortable, but ive been in worse staying a various hotels. The staff is excellent. The mahogny restaurant is awesome. Our server was the best. I cant remember his name but he was very professional but still fun and had us laughing. Thank you
- 5/5
Wonderful stay after a wonderful train ride
- 5/5
The hotel was amazing with much history. The furniture matched the era of the hotel. I loved that each room had a journal you filled out & left. Only had the opportunity to eat in the Saloon while we were there & food & service were excellent. Hotel staff also very knowledgeable, courteous & kind.
- 5/5
Can't beat the location! Rooms are great and historic - not to mention pet friendly.
- 5/5
Wonderful property , coffee in the AM, and super clean rooms. Staff was amazing.
- 5/5
Unique property with so much history
- 5/5
The historic Lobby, restaurant and bar area was great.
- 5/5
Great location and many great historical displays throughout the hotel. The saloon had great food and great entertainment. The only downfall was the extremely tiny bathroom and shower in our otherwise great room. It was as small as than a port a John! We had a queen & twin bed room as did our friends and their bathroom was completely fine. Parking is limited but free. Would stay again.
- 5/5
Best location in town! Close to many attractions and the railroad. The hotel is so charming, everything is beautifully preserved. It's a real museum! The saloon next door serves great food and night entertainment was a lovely bluegrass band.
- 5/5
The restaurant was amazing. The staff were very friendly and pleasant . I Definitely recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
Staff super nice, room spotless!!
- 5/5
Train was so noisy early in the morning
- 5/5
Great hotel and atmosphere
- 4/5
Now the hotel is old, so the rooms are not very big and do not have a lot of modern features a new hotel would have. Speciically, no regfrigerator and shower stall was very small. But other than that, room was clean, bathroom clean and bed was comfortable. The bar was nice. Had a dinner there and the food and drinks were pretty good and the prices were not so bad. There was live music with a piano player and he was good. Parking was about 1/2 a block away. There is a closer lot but it is right behind the building and only has like 4 or 5 spots. But you can unload and pack up right at the front door. I parked my car after unloading and didn't need my car for the rest of my stay. Overall great place

Even had a small room journal for each guest to write in about their visit & where they had travelled from. Only problem we had was trying to find parking lot late at night being as we were tired. Nice meal at Mahogany Grille & enjoyable drinks at Diamond Belle saloon with ladies dressed in costumes! So much fun!

Love historic hotels. This did not disappoint

Quaint historic hotel with updates. Very nice rooms. Antiquated but otherwise functional bathrooms. Pleasant public spaces. Excellent location for walking downtown and getting to the railroad. Train departures in the morning will wake light sleepers who aren't going. Extensive parking facilities in adjacent lots (free) so don't really have to use your car at all during your stay or be concerned about parking in town.

Beautiful historic hotel with small rooms. Good dining options...but sadly no breakfast options at all. Great, walkable location. Perfect for easy access to the train depot.

Location! Restaurants and convenience

The entire stay was great. Loved the restaurant with live ragtime music, the secret discoveries and the private hot tub room.

Had to walk from parking area which was not close to hotel with luggage. Not ADA compliant. Was not told ahead of time about the water outage that was from 2am-6am. By the time we left at 7am there was still no water! The staff at check in and check out was non caring about the lack of water. They offered no solution to having no water to even flush a toliet. A partial refund would have been nice since it was not a cheap hotel stay!

Time traveled back to late 1800s.

Hotel staff made NO accommodation nor any care to do so. In addition, water was not available throughout stay. Hotel made no effort toward compensation.

Blown away by the detail to preserve the history. Will visit here again and have already recommended this location to others planning trips to the area.

Interesting antique furniture. My only criticism is that no breakfast was available at the hotel.

Worth every penny. 2nd time I've stayed here this year. A 3rd & 4th stay are on the horizon.

The hotel manage took no responsibility and acted like it never happened to other guests.

The whole hotel is in fabulous condition despite its age. The Victorian Era decor feels authentic and the memorabilia throughout the hotel is very interesting. If you want the experience of the Wild West as it was back in its time, this hotel is the perfect place.

This is a little gem out of history. I feel like I passed into a different time period staying here, it was incredible. They have this adorable saloon with great live music.
