Reviews
The Brown Palace Hotel is a historic and beautiful property with a rich history, friendly staff, and great amenities. However, the hotel is in need of maintenance and updates, with guests frequently mentioning issues with the rooms, bathrooms, and amenities. The hotel's location and atmosphere are highly praised, but the condition of the rooms and facilities is a common concern.
- Beautiful and historic property
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Rooms and facilities in need of maintenance and updates
- Issues with amenities such as hot water, AC, and parking

This hotel needs to be renovated. It’s very outdated. Ceiling is peeling. Carpet is so old. We changed rooms because the AC is broken in many rooms. It’s a hotel with history but just come for the high tea and experience the lobby. Don’t stay here.

Great stay!! We had just a quick overnight and everything was great!

The Brown Palace is truly a timeless experience showcasing beautiful architecture and preserved history. Most staff were virtuous. Concierge not very helpful. Variety of restaurants on site. Definitely worth a visit:)

Built in 1892, the Brown Palace has seen better days. The bathroom sink had cracks that encompassed the bowl. The ceiling had several patches of paint ready to fall, in addition to stains. One curtain rod was partially snapped off. There were few amenities i.e. shower cap. Staff processed my bill incorrectly. This is a Marriott BonVoy property.

The Brownstone Palace is an architectural gem, which would be a pleasure to stay in, but is poorly managed and not well maintained. Our first room on this stay had a damaged shower, and so after one night we were moved to a another room which also had a damaged shower door and a bathroom door which did not properly close (see attached photos). The new room was also lacking robes, and when it came time to replace towels and a bath mat, the first night we received one bath towel for two people, no bath mat, and no new hand towels. The second night, we received neither bath nor hand towels, this after we had already complained about the first night. Nor for our troubles, were offered any offsetting compensation or upgrade. Before we booked at the Brownstone, relatives who had stayed there warned us to check our final bill very carefully since they were almost double-charged for some items. When we received our final bill, we also would have been double-charged for the last two nights. Also, a $15 credit we were promised for each night was not accredited on the final bill. The hotel manager did double the credit when he was made aware of the omission and removed the double-charges for the room, but be warned: If you decide to stay at the Brownstone Palace, check your final bill very carefully. We mention all these negatives very sadly because the hotel is so beautiful, and the staff so friendly, that we would love to stay at the Brownstone Palace the next time we are in Denver.

The building is impressive and so is the history. We were not given the room that we booked and were given an older room that was not renovated. It wasn’t until I mentioned it hours after checking in to the front desk that they moved us to the correct room. Then the room that they “upgraded” us to had a door that you had to practically jam open and shut. It was very upsetting that this wouldn’t be addressed unless I said something. I called the manager of the properties to make them aware of what happened and of course I never heard back. Thanks Sam at front desk for helping us.

ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR HOTEL. NEVER HAD TO LEAVE FPR ANYTHING. RESTAURANT, BAR, FOOD & SERVICES ARE ABOVE PAR

On this stay there were problems. Our room had a broken shower door (Why did they put us into such a room?) and at breakfast both our food and the food at the table next to us came out cold. The hotel seemed overwhelmed.
- 3/5
The Brownstone Palace Hotel is a beautiful facility, really something worth seeing and knowing about for its architecture and history. However, our room was small and cramped, and though we were told that there was a water station on every floor, there was none on ours, and I had to go searching for one on another floor. Breakfast was not included at our price range (still not inexpensive for the size and appointments of the room), though purchased a la carte, it was delicious and well-served.

Valet parking, checking in and getting a champagne, having many options for dining. The hotel restaurants are a 10 out of 10. Rooms are a nice size and clean. Bed comfortable. The room was a little chilly for me. Could not control the temp.

Upon entering this hotel, we were overwhelmed by the smell of mildew and cigarettes. After checking in, we went up to our room to find we were not in the correct room. We called down to the front desk and were told that our room had been given away and that was the room that they had for us. At this point, they did not offer to refund us any of the cost for our upgraded room. After arguing back-and-forth, they finally agreed to reduce the rate but did not have our room available as they have over sold. Various members of the staff said that this hotel over sells and has people without rooms or without the correct room pretty frequently. In our room the shower door, toilet and towel holders were all broken. Our room stunk of sewage and maintenance man could not find out why. However, the maintenance man was very nice and agreed that, yes in fact our room did smell like sewage. We had zero hot water and there was a strange beeping noise in our room all night. We stayed one night and moved to a new hotel the next day. Do not stay at this hotel! Staff exceedingly rude, it stinks, it’s filthy and broken down and you may not even have a room if you do book there.

This property failed us in so many ways. Where is the general manager? Who is driving this historic ship? So expensive for so little. The valet service, room service and high tea service were very good. Nothing else was. Not worth the money. No basic amenities like water or soap for $690 a night. $69 resort fee for WHAT???? Not even a bottle of water in room. Much less than a holiday Inn. Just ridiculously over priced and had no value. Very very disappointed. Did not even get the room type I paid for. They need to fire the general manager and start over.

I love this classic old hotel. It's really beautiful and the restaurants and bars are amazing. The problem is I saw a little details that were being dropped. Like plugs not working in the hotel rooms like pieces missing from the bottom of the sink so you could see the pipes. Like the front desk staff underdressed.

Emmer at the front desk was phenomenal and the location was great. The hotel was run down and the ac didn’t work. There wasn’t any upgraded amenities on the room. Sometimes the elevator didn’t even work and while I was there the computer systems went down and lost my card info so the hotel staff came to get me at 10pm at night.

On the positive side, the hotel is beautifully decorated, the restaurant we used was excellent and a live pianist in the lobby played for much of the time.

I booked a King Suite on Hotels.com. When I arrived, I had a small room with a Queen bed. I went to the front desk and they said I should complain to Hotels.com because they sent the wrong room order. They said they had a King Suite available and gave me keys. The new room was even smaller, but had a king bed. And, the A/C didnt work in the new room. I called the front desk and asked if this was a suite, she said the suites are not available and would cost me a lot more, even though my receipt said "KING SUITE". I asked to switch back to the other room, because the A/C worked, and the front desk person said "fine" and slammed the phone down and hung up. I then noticed I paid the room rate on Hotels.com, and the Brown Palace charged my card the room rate as well. So not only did I not get the room I wanted, I was charged twice! I won't be booking rooms anymore using Expedia or Hotels.com.

Got the room with a tub/shower combo as I was looking forward to a luxurious staycation that included would have included a luxuriously long bath, a show and good food. Sorely disappointed with how the trip ended, but it did start great to check-in was very friendly and inviting. I took care of the show and good food earlier in the evening and when I got back at 1 AM wanted to check the bath off my list. The steady stream literally that came from the faucet was cold and never got much more than a strain. Knowing it was late and that maintenance probably wasn’t there at 1 AM on Saturday. I chose to wait till the morning to talk to the front desk when I explained what happened front desk clerk was very condescending and snippy and I was turned away with you. Haven’t left the water on long enough. It’s an old building. Wow thanks already feeling uncomfortable. I chose to not argue and went back up to try and fight with the tub and again leave it running to try and warm up the water in Denver all my life so I was hoping for an amazing experience with the well-known Brown palace overall great room and amazing history, but staff interaction believe something to be desired

N/A Deeply disappointed with the inflexibility and customer service here. I needed to change my dates two weeks before my stay, not cancel, just shift to different dates that would have actually been a longer stay, meaning more revenue for them. Despite this being a win-win, hotel refused entirely, hiding behind the non-refundable booking policy rather than showing any goodwill or common sense. To make matters worse, when I called to discuss it, the receptionist Amir was shockingly rude and unprofessional, not at all what you’d expect from someone in a customer-facing role. No empathy, no attempt to find a solution, just a dismissive attitude.

The property definitely has “Titanic” vibes. On check in the front desk clerk was less than thrilled to be there.when I got to our room it was large and nice. But then I noticed the curtains were hanging off the rod which made the room look trashy. I tried to climb on a chair to fix myself and did temporarily until I opened the curtains again.

Located in downtown with both a cafe and restaurant for breakfast. The hotel is historic and I enjoyed the decoations ad the plaques with notable historical events. The room was spacious and had plenty of outlets. Good sized closet too. I wish the resort fee was just included in the price of the hotel room, rather than being charged separately for it. The room could also use a microwave and a better hot water boiler, as I couldn't really make tea in it.
- 2/5
Seriously in need of a major renovation. Peeling paint, old dtained carpet and furnishings. Bathroom a train wreck.
- 5/5
Always enjoy my stay at The Brown Palace, such an elegant step back in time!!

The property has great history behind it, and it was very beautiful there. Our room was a little hot and I could not find the climate control .

We stayed for the St. Patrick's Day parade. Very nice stay at the Brown. Very friendly staff, excellent food and lively, friendly guests.

Room had a mirror or something on the wall and it was removed and the mounting hardware was still on the wall and you could see how the paint was faded around the mirror. Did not present a 5 star image.

The Brown Palace is an amazing hotel. The amenities are perfect and rooms are gorgeous. Absolutely nothing!

Historic and great location for CBD work but hotel needs some improvements. Big and comfortable rooms and quiet which is perfect for business travel.
- 5/5
Historical value It was great
- 3.5/5
The Brown Palace is an old, stately, famous hotel in Denver. The architecture is stunning and I felt I was walking into a world gone by. The tea we attended was lovely. Marriott needs to spend more money on maintenance. The vanity doors in our bathroom were missing, exposing the plumbing. The ceiling fan only worked on high speed. The hydration station on our floor didn't work.
- 4/5
Always love the Brown Palace, staff is always great. The jazz music on Sat. is terrific! My only recommendation is that our room needed some upkeep, thing starting to fall apart in the room that need attention to keep this a spectacular hotel.
- 3/5
Food was very good but expensive. Our room and bathroom were nice and the beds were very comfortable. All the guest room floors are open to the central atrium so very visible and everything is sterile white - the hallways, doors and door frames. At best boring and sterile, at worst a horror movie setting. The spa is nothing to get excited about.
- 4.5/5
Elegant old hotel. Charmed by architecture and comfort
- 3/5
The Brown Palace, of course, is an iconic and beautiful hotel. We have stayed there in the past and have enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately with this stay, the front desk staff and the house keeping was substandard. The Valet and restaurants/bar service were excellent and up to the standards I would expect in a hotel of this caliber.
- 5/5
Such a beautiful hotel. The music in the atrium was lovely and our dinner at The Palace Arms was devine!! We enjoyed our stay!
- 5/5
Room was fantastic. Amazing mattress, great pillows. Very quiet-it’s in downtown Denver and it’s so quiet. We didn’t want to leave. Room service was amazing. All the food was amazing in the tavern and breakfast restaurant. We’ll be back
- 1/5
Checked in at 4:30pm and our suite was not ready until 6pm. The room key reader was not working had to have maintenance come and fix to get into our room. Temperature in the suite was set at 76 degrees and not able to change it. Maintenance had to be called again for that issue.
- 3/5
Elevators were out...not enough staff to even replace batteries in safe...plus hot water took forever to get hot and no full length mirror in hotel.
- 3/5
We loved the history of the hotel and how well it has been kept in its original decor over the years. But was disappointed in the front desk customer service as I called ahead and told them it was a night for my husband’s retirement celebration and asked to have champagne glasses put in the room. The customer service rep didn’t seem to care about the special occasion at all and then when we arrived also mentioned in person and still no care. We got to the room which had no champagne glasses and had to call room service. For a high end hotel I expect better customer service and for the price the bed should have been much nicer.
- 2/5
Paul the front desk employee was extremely helpful Pictures on booking.com where false for the top of brown king (you can ask Paul) when we arrived to the actual top of brown king, the heat was on full blast and could not be turned off, the thermostat did not work, a technician had to come and manually adjust the actuator on the duct and manually turn the heat off and the ac on, we where then told if it got too cold to call again and he can come adjust it, the room did not dip below 80°F until 11 pm with the ac constantly running.
- 5/5
Great stay. The fees and valet make it tough to afford to stay
- 4/5
The room was cold when we arrived due to the valves not being open for the heater. There is a piece of granite missing at the soaking tub. Other than that the room was spacious and it did have city views. The fire alarm went off at 3:45 a.m., apparently a false alarm but no all clear signal. Also the staff did not come out and apologize or all for any compensation for the inconvenience. Upon checking out it 6:45 we learn that there was no one there to help with the luggage. The front desk clerk seem uninterested and the dilemma. The valet was very helpful and should be commended. Overall the stay was good and the restaurant Palace had excellent food.
- 2/5
The lobby was amazing but the room had several issues. The cove lights did not work in the room. The fart fa in the bathroom didn’t work. The handle on the shower door was about to fall. There was plaster damage to the ceiling in the entryway. Also tried to check in 5 minutes early and was told we would be charged $75 for early check in, so we stood around the lobby waiting with all the other people who didn’t want to pay up. All in all, it was like stay at the Hampton Inn. Where we should have stayed. At least I would have had free waffles in the morning!
- 4/5
Rooms need updates. Only half the plugs working in the room toilet clogging with very little tissue used. The hotel is beautiful but Marriott needs to invest in a refurbishment.

I didn't get the room I booked. I paid for the Grand King Suite and I was given a standard room, the front desk told me that room was unavailable. I also requested for champagne and truffles to be sent to my room for a special occasion and I never received them.

- 5/5
Staff and service was top notch. Loved the historical aspects of the building.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, great restaurants and courteous staff. They even have a first class cigar lounge.
- 1/5
No heat in the rooms. Engineers had to get on hands and knees to turn something deep in equipment to adjust -super loud blower and no thermostat control to adjust. Terrible when’s it’s literally freezing outside. Toilet didn’t flush properly. Food in the Tavern was mediocre at best. I was so cold I almost left in the middle of the night. Even when they tried moving me to another room, it was even colder. Terrible experience. This once beautiful historic hotel is run down, w non-working mechanical, plumbing, etc etc etc.
- 5/5
We love the Brown Palace. The location and facilities are great. It is very charming. We had some problems at check-in but they got resolved and we got an upgraded room. The heating system seemed to struggle but it was extremely cold outside.
- 4/5
Only complaint is there was no thermastate in the room and on Jan 24 temps were single digits outside and the room was cold with no way to get it hot. Other than that, great place to stay. Staff are great and its buzzing with activity.
- 5/5
We always stay here whether on business or pleasure
- 5/5
Customer service from everyone was exquisite and hotel beautifully preserved
- 4/5
Breakfast at the hotel was good as was the service. Fabulous western historic museum is across the street and a great Mexican food restaurant
- 3/5
I have always heard about The Brown Palace and what a special historical hotel that it is. We attended a tea party for my Aunt and stayed the night. I would rate our overall experience marginal. Service was slow, room was in need of an update, many items were worn. There are some really special historic architectural aspects of the hotel. But for the price and ratings I was under impressed and hope this special place gets makeover to bring it back to its glory days.
- 4/5
Shower fawcet was hanging from wall and not able to showere, so they swap us from original room and it was Xmas Eve and my wife accepted but it was very inconvenient on that night. We only stayed one night. Eventhough I would recommend for the beaty and histroy of hotel.. their dealing with this inconveninece was terrible and they fitted us in a smaller room and no bathtub

also the room was left uncleaned several days.

The valet crew was great too
- 5/5
Room was great! Thank you.
- 5/5
The Brown Palace is wonderful. We really enjoyed our stay. It has so much rich history and character
- 3/5
Bathroom had an awkward big step up into it with an accordion door. That step is an accident waiting to happen. We had to keep the light on so we wouldn't trip in the middle of the night. Sink handles did not shut off normally. Had to find the right position (both hot and cold handles) to get the water off. Tub stopper had to be opened manually. Bed not very comfy. Springs made noise when moving. Did not sleep well. Hotel atmosphere is beautiful. Just wish our room represented that same feeling.
- 5/5
Quick check in, nice room
- 5/5
Everything
- 3/5
The room was adequate, however the coffee maker did not work and we could hear the noise from the lobby very clearly. We were not told that reservations were required for breakfast on Christmas Day and were not able to have a table. Dinner at Palace Arms was disappointing. The food was delicious, but the servings were tiny considering the price. However, Edward was very understanding and comped one of our meals. We appreciate that courtesy.
- 4/5
One of the best places to stay in Denver at Christmas time. The room was super clean, all the staff were great. The food at the Ship Tavern has vastly improved since I went last ~2 years ago
- 5/5
Room was very nice but I could not switch off the heat fun
- 5/5
The hotel is beautiful
- 3/5
The atmosphere and ambience are compelling. However, both the rooms our party had revealed a lot of damaged and broken fixtures requiring repair. The diverter handle in our shower was missing and one of the two reading lamps built I to the headboard was broken. There is no noise sealing around the door so any activity in the centralwill go right thru the door and disturb the occuoants, as it did for us when they started mic checking at 8 am for a debutant ball dress rehearsal. The shower water oressure is inadequate. Hotwater takes 5-10 minutes to get to the sink or shower.
- 3/5
Room was tiny, elevators were very slow. The property was extremely crowded, we couldn’t get into the afternoon tea because we didn’t make reservations months in advance, no consideration for paying customers. The $15 off for an in-house meal doesn’t work if you pay cash, just beware.
- 5/5
First time staying at the brown. Great experience.
- 4/5
The room was a nice size and very clean. However, in the evening, we did not have hot water. It is a lovely old hotel with a wonderful history but there seemed to be issues with customer service. At both check-in and check-out there were angry customers at the counter. And, the valet overnight parking was over $60!
- 1/5
Check in was a zoo as was getting the valet to park my car. Two of our three rooms were not ready for several hours after normal check in time

Do NOT book this hotel. Especially not in winter. This hotel was a massive disappointment! I am an Elite Bonvoy member of Marriott and have stayed in Autograph Collection hotels around the world. Marriott classifying this hotel in this class is a disgrace The building is in shocking disrepair. The price point can only be propped up by its historic reputation, I would rate this hotel in the absolute lowest class, based on room condition and experience equivalent to a motel! The heating system in the entire hotel is broken, walking into the room was like walking into a sauna literally, we were forced to immediately retreat to the passage. The hotel staff could not fix the situation. After on hour the fan was switched to blowing hot air to room temperature air. Without any option of room change upgrade or downgrade possible we decided to go to the bar for a drink. One hour later there was very little to no improvement with hotel magenta not about to even promise any kind of rectification. Bathrooms of restaurants in the property were equally in disrepair, faucets not working or running continuously. Absolutely shocking condition for any Marriott of any class!
- 5/5
Great service, beautiful decorations.
- 4/5
Our room was freezing cold. Had to ask twice to get the heat checked. Main room’s heating worked but master bedroom’s heat did not work at all. Had to use a space heater the rest of our stay
- 5/5
This hotel was was beautiful. Rich history that was well preserved but moderized for comfortable convenience. The ship tavern makes a mean espresso martini. Staff was extremely warm and welcoming. The churchill bar look really cool but we didnt visit. Unfortunately we didnt get to visit the restaurant for breakfast as it was closed Thanksgiving on our checkout day. There was a tea time when we checked in that people seemed to love but we had prior plans.I will definately stay here again
- 3/5
Beautiful decor. Restaurant staff excellent. Front desk personnel mediocre. Room was freezing had to be moved in a non professional manner.
- 2/5
We booked a room with a king size bed and were given a queen. This stay was a 17 year anniversary evening for me and my husband. It was disappointing to not get the room we booked. We treated ourselves to a nice staycation night, and felt disappointed with zero communication from the check in that what we booked was not available.
- 4/5
Classic hotel with lovely restaurants, bar, spa. Superb fron̈t desk staff. A minor problem with the shower door was handled promptly but in my absence maintenance staff left the room door wide open when they left. Thankfully nothing was missing. The Christmas decirations in the atrium were amazing. High tea was very popular!
- 4/5
The stuff we’re super friendly, the property looks beautiful, especially with all the holiday decorations. The only issue we ran into was the water pressure in the rooms..
- 2/5
my shower lacked hot water pressure in the main overhead shower head so I had to use the hand held shower with minimal pressure. Additinally, the water took forever to heat up--I had to turn on the shower and wait about 10minutes before the water was warm enough to use so I took mainly cold showers. I notified the front desk on the first day. They sent people up who said I had hot water just but only from the hand help. Noone suggested a different room, noone offered a complimentary "sorry for this nconveneience". Not what I expect from a Bonvoy and definitely not as a loyal and long term member.
- 4/5
Cute hotel but the beds are not comfy. Remodel looks like it was done in a hurry, grout/caulking all over the tub and missing in other areas. Great location however!
- 4/5
Coffeemaker was broken. Room was clean but furnishings were dated and tired.
- 3/5
No drinking water in room. Lamp shade on desk is broken. Bathroom faucet very loose. Toilet seat loose.
- 4/5
Dinner at the Palace Arms was ok. Oyster Rock were horrible. Cold. Gross. Dessert menu at Ships Tavern was awful. Food was great tho. Room water a complete failure.
- 5/5
Classy place
- 1/5
Awful outdated hotel with no hot water unresponsive service and dirty towels. Avoid.
- 3/5
The front desk person should have told me they were having a big event and would be making all kinds of noise at a certain time. And put me in a room far far away from that noise. I felt awful and had come from an overnight flight. I was sick to my stomach. Meanwhile at 4 pm all sorts of beeping. Sound technician doesnt know what tgey are doing. The sound check was so extremely loud ' so loud it was as if they were in my room. And the beeping from sone machine went on for quiet a while. The noise echos up. Why youd hold an event in a lobby when the rooms surround it. So freaking stupid. I was concerned about the room when it was situated behind a screen and there was equipment in the hallways. Im like what the hell. If id known this was going on wouldnt have stayed here. But when hotels hold events its usually in a ballroom far away from hotel rooms. The girl when i called down asking about noise and telking her it was too loud. She says everybody knows this event is going on. We hold it every year for past 50 years. Really?? I dont live here and i booked this reservation through a third party like most people. I said how long is this going to go on for? She said she didnt know? Really absurd remarks. The manager of the front desk needs to train his staff better. Plus room service. I called to ask if there was a book as most hotels have a book about hotel with info on room service cost. The girl told me to look online at the menu. There are no prices? Other issues - heating
- 5/5
Great staff….very accommodating and the private tour was excellent. Drinks and cigars in the Churchill Bar were very enjoyable. Not sure who approved the renovations in the hotel but it’s obvious they have no sense of preservation or care of the hotels history. If not for the cheap and hurried renovations this would have been completely 5 star.
- 5/5
Check-in was excellent. However, once we got
- 4/5
Staff, amenities, location, cleanliness.

The atmosphere and comfort
- 5/5
Light bulbs out in bathroom, next to bed, and front table.
- 3/5
Check in great, valet great but parking expensive. Told at check in bottled water in room. At arrival, no water. No TV remote. I called front desk, one sent up, I asked person about water and was given a pitcher of water. Got into shower this morning, no soap. I rented 3 rooms. One friend had no water. Other room had pastries with ‘Welcome Mark’ note on it. Rooms obviously not ready for guests.
- 4/5
The Brown Palace is top notch in service and accommodations, but has some issues that come with a building of this age. No controls for the temperature in the rooms ( a staff member has to come to the room to manually adjust a hidden control to change the temperature).
- 5/5
Classic old hotel right in the action of downtown Denver!
- 3/5
Our room did not have a working thermostat and we were told it could not be repaired. Pretty disappointed that restaurants and bars were closed at 11pm. We came back Saturday evening after attending a concert hoping to grab dessert, but nothing was open. Restaurant food and service was very good, but I would not recommend staying at this hotel againl.
- 3/5
Cold room, could not use thermostat (didn't work). Could not get hot water in sink until the day we left.
- 2/5
Terrible - wouldn't change room for me. Checked into room 625, but there was no air. They gave me room 425, and the same issue was there. Finally, I was given room 702 same issue. Met a nice house keeping gentlemen that assisted me and my husband, to get the air moving.
- 3/5
I was a little reluctant to book this hotel based on mixed reviews. The hotel overall is beautiful with old world charm, but is in need of comprehensive maintenance. While the room was clean with modern amenities, the bathroom pocket door was broken, lights needed replacing and hooks were missing from doors. The lighted make up mirror didn’t work, and several lamps also didn’t work in our room. Ice machines were out on all floors. The piano music in the lobby and the afternoon tea were a total 10/10! Staff was nice and accommodating.
- 4/5
Lovely, historic, well appointed property, however, all the ice machines were missing, $14 for internet??
- 1/5
These rooms are not in good condition. The furniture is damaged and stained, the staff especially concierge is non reachable and just zero value for the expense. This isn’t the brown palace we Denverites remember.
- 3/5
Bathroom drain had a smell of sewage. Ceiling fan squeaked so loud we had trouble falli by asleep. Bed frame squeaked every time we moved, and woke us up.
- 5/5
We were there following the wedding of a friend.
- 1/5
The hotel was OVERPRICED and outdated. Our room didn't even have hot water in the shower. It was legit falling apart. Paint chipping, wallpaper falling off. It definitely was NOT cleaned. The front desk didn't even acknowledge us. No discount, no apology. We were a burden. The valet which cost over $65 TOOK 35 minutes to get our car. Don't stay here.
- 3/5
Awful sewer smell throughout the 7th floor where we were staying. Lasted all 4 days
- 5/5
Been going for past 50 years. Everything about the hotel is fine except for one glowing disrepancy. Charginf $63 for overnight parking is outrageous. When one is paying that much for a room, a parking fee like that is an insult, a poke in the eye. There is no way the cost is justfied, even if it is a "third party" parking concession. That's enough to keep us from coming back
- 5/5
My stay was absolutely wonderful! I’m from Denver and I grew up hearing all about the Brown Palace. How fancy and magical their high tea offerings are to how luxurious and world class their spa/salon is. Can’t forget the amazing restaurants and bars within the hotel as well allowing for so much to do while staying there. I was thrilled to finally get the chance to stay and explore. I would come back again and again. The front desk staff was friendly and very helpful upon check in. I had a lovely drink and appetizer at the Ships Tavern. And then wrapped up my stay with two of the best spa services I’ve ever had, to date. It was just fantastic!
- 5/5
The architecture was beautiful. Definitely recommend
- 5/5
What a treat! We were upgraded because of our very special occasion! We only wish we had more time to spend at The Brown Palace! We are thankful the staff made this a memorable experience all around.
- 4/5
Unfortunately , we didn't have time to look around. Assistance was excellent. Bed very comfortable . Only negatives were: had to run water in shower a very long time before it got hot and toilet paper holder didn't stay attached. Wish we had more time to experience the environment.
- 5/5
Outrageous cost for valet parking otherwise a lovely historic hotel in Denver. Convenient to union Station and 16th st mall. Staff is friendly. We love the Brown Palace and will return in the future.
- 3/5
Beautiful historic hotel, but had a lot of issues. We walked into our hotel room and it had a leaking ceiling. Was not a big issue though. We had issues with our TV and called about it. They said they would send someone to fix it. They never came. In the lobby, they have a bathroom with a very leaky faucet that was not fixed in the few days we were there. At one point it was gushing water and the handle was off. They got it repaired so that it wasn't gushing, but it still leaked very badly. We also saw a wall repair going on in the hall of our floor. It just came across that the hotel was not being well maintained.
- 1/5
I was expecting a better place, however the rooms, hallway, stairs, and floors are dirty. Closest are filled with things hanging around. No wipes properly. Bathroom has stained and furniture are old falling apart. Very small fridge that doesn't work. No microwave. No water. Didn't like it at all. Staff is very rude and didn't respond to any questions, no even when asked about the story of the hotel. I will not recommend or stay again.
- 5/5
Beautiful property! Great service. .
- 5/5
Loved it
- 3/5
Hotel was beautiful but the room was rough. The bathroom sinks when turned on leaked from the handles bad. The shower head was pretty much siliconed on. The toilet paper holder was hanging on by a thread. Had to call and go down to request coffee and water several times. After 3 days someone showed up to give us coffee and water. Cleaned the room once. Wont ever stay again. Our rental car was in valet and there was an accident.
- 4/5
A great 4 day stay. The only blemish (black eye) was the service, treatment and food at the Shipyard Tavern. Very poor experience, but the rest of that stay and amenities was spot on.
- 5/5
Beautiful old hotel. Classic. Fantastic bars and restaurants
- 5/5
Very lovely and historic
- 2/5
First night AC ran all night and was freezing cold. In the am there was limited hot water. One staff member was so rude we contacted the front desk. Tried to reach the GM with no call back. Supervisor did give us a room change. Love the hotel but will not come back.
- 5/5
Excellent customer service!!
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel with a lot of history. Surprised there were no robes in the rooms since it's part of the Autograph Collection.
- 5/5
The jazz band was great.
- 5/5
The property has great food options right at the hotel. With great old school charm, what more can you ask for?
- 4/5
Great stay
- 4/5
Nice and clean hotel with a neat history. Easy access to 16th Street mall and dining options
- 1/5
operational. Informed the front desk and ask for different room but was told hotel was completely booked. I felt that they knew that room had issues. If they had been upfront about their predicament and place us into another hotel, I would've no issues
- 1/5
Absolutely horrible, I have been triple charged for one night of stay, originally payed through Expedia, on check In confirmed that I already payed. On check out I asked the attended I could see how much I owe and was told over and over it would be emailed to me. Gave up checked my email latter that day and I was charged for the rooms again called the hotel and checked my bank statement and saw I now have three charges for one night of stay. I’m still disputing with the property about this. To top it all off there was no hot water and the mattress is still the original spring mattress.
- 4/5
The hotel is nice but it’s old and a little overpriced
- 5/5
Everything was great with the exception of 2 things: we couldnt change the temperature in the room. It was a bit chilly. We had difficulty operating the coffee machine. Instructions would have been helpful.
- 5/5
Even though the elevators unexpectedly went down, the staff were gracious and helpful. We did not feel inconvenienced at all. Staff from top to bottom were great. The room was fantastic. We would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Great place to stay!!
- 5/5
Really enjoyed the live music with the piano player and then later on with the jazz band. Made for a very relaxing afternoon and great ambiance. Oh and loved the American flag! Overall, a great experience staying there. One negative is the valet parking - $63! That is a bit outrageous even for this day and age. As much as we enjoyed staying there, the cost for valet parking will definitely weigh into our decision where to stay next time we come to Denver.
- 4/5
This is a beautiful historic hotel in the heart of Denver. I do recommend staying there, but keep in mind it's over 100 years old. The main elevators worked occasionally. You could take the service elevators but if you don't get off on the 2nd floor and walk, you're in the kitchen. When I checked in they told me I had been upgraded to a king corner room from my 2 room suite. I don't think it was an upgrade. I challenged them - nicely - on that and lost. The room was large with 1 desk chair and a second chair even my husband couldn't sit in. High tea is as wonderful as it always was and the staff was exceptional. If you want breakfast, you need to go out. There are nice restaurants very near so that wasn't hard to do. Also parking is strictly valet, but the service was again excellent. I do recommend staying here.
- 1/5
The in room phone didn’t work so I had to call via cell phone
- 3/5
In contrast, it was the hottest day this year (about 100°) and while I understand the AC can only work so well, it never came on. Our room stayed at a heavy 75°. Maybe that’s me expecting too much out of historic mechanical systems! It wouldn’t have bothered me if everything else was great but the elevators stopped working. Fortunately, staff allowed us to use the freight elevator. Overall the staff are pretty nice and do what they can. Everyone was super kind and helpful to myself and others. The location, however, is perfect. It was convenient for dropping off my enterprise rental and getting to a bunch of different activities. The coffee and bars downstairs were convenient.
- 5/5
The staff was amazing and accommodating. I am super allergic to pillows and I forgot to mention this to them, and they still brought me two not feathered pillows.
- 4/5
The hot water took a long time to heat up. Overall, it was a good experience.
- 5/5
lack of bathrobe slippers, adequate soap, also, missed the prior hotel car service from former visits
- 4/5
Property is iconic and still does afternoon tea.
- 3/5
Location of property and ease to access surrounding amenities. Valet and front desk personnel are amazing. Room in my opinion is false advertised. The size of the room and shower is smaller than Super 8.
- 5/5
Loved it!
- 5/5
Our room was beautiful although a tiny bit small. We loved all of the historic touches of the hotel. It was a special treat.
- 5/5
This place was amazing, you could feel ambiance the past without losing the amenities of today!!! So beautiful!!! I had a problem with a front desk associate this was very belittling but when I sprite to the director of rooms he went over and above to take care of us.
- 5/5
Great place!
- 3/5
The lobby and the Ship Tavern were great! The suite was a let down: tired, a bit dirty, cold, and the kitchen smelled like sewage, which unfortunately made the living room unusable. It’s a beautiful old classic hotel, but they need to focus on more than serving high tea. For the price, you can do better elsewhere, which is too bad because I really wanted to love it.
- 5/5
The Valets, the Front Desk, the Waitstaff, the Housekeeping, and the Custodials were top of the line. Come for the history and the staff will be why people come back.
- 4/5
Lovely place. Parking was hard to find with hotel address and fairly expensive. Friendly folks at check in and restaurant. Large and spacious room.
- 5/5
For a brief visit to Denver
- 5/5
Beautiful and easy to get to everything in Downtown
- 5/5
Such a lovely hotel, with courteous and attentive staff. We will stay here again when we come to Denver.
- 5/5
I liked the hotel alot. The bathroom was small and i found the jazz in the lobby area downstairs a bit much…loud and long. Otherwise I enjoyed the historic hotel.
- 4/5
The hotel was unique for an antique hotel, but for the price it was not worth it. The ceilings were peeling and was in need of repair.
- 5/5
Most beautiful place I have stayed yet!
- 4/5
Service was great, especially Dawa at Ellyngton’s breakfast. The room was clean and neat, but the curtains were broke and the bathroom vanity needed replacing. Was not a fan of the jazz music in the lobby. I have always wanted to stay at the Brown Palace and finally did. Hoping I can do it again soon.
- 2/5
We woke up to a mouse running around on the floor in the middle of the night! Then we spotted his house in the northeastern floor board the following morning. Yikes! Also it took about 40 minutes for the valet to find our car during our departure. Yea service staff was generally unfriendly.
- 5/5
The furniture was really run down and could not get the AC to be dependent
- 5/5
Great stay
- 4/5
I enjoyed my stay here. Foe the price of my stay, I could’ve done much worse.
- 5/5
This hotel offers many activities in the hotel.
- 5/5
This property had so much history and class..you must partake in High Tea
- 5/5
Good stsy
- 4/5
A bit of nostalgia!!
- 5/5
Jazz band was great!
- 5/5
Concierge Brad was extremely helpful with directions. Matthew, desk clerk, went out of his way to help me, doing so in a witty manner.
- 5/5
Everything I hoped for
- 4/5
This hotel was great. The valet, checking in and the room was great. They even gave us free truffles at the Ship's Tavern. The only issue was that the bathroom smelled of sewage pretty bad.
- 1/5
holding onto nostalgia is fantastic, but customer service and communication between guests and staff should be your priority. the old rooms are really lacking in amenities and facilities that do not represent the price of the room. I will make other choices in downtown Denver on future trips
- 5/5
Every single thing was great other than they are a cashless hotel
- 1/5
I did not stay at this property and need a refund. The quality of the floor and room they gave me was so run down and had a horrible smell. The hotel said they would honor me a refund after I refused to stay there…still waiting on refund.
- 5/5
The stuffs are super nice
- 5/5
Great time staying there
- 2/5
No towels, the shower didn’t work and made a high pitch squealing noise and the bed was awful
- 1/5
The first room they gave me had been renovated the last time about 50 years ago. After I complained they gave me a bigger one. Not a better one. The room had a wardrobe with sliding doors. One door was missing, so you looked the whole day into an open wardrobe. I asked them about the door and they said, someone smashed the door and the door hadn't been replaced so far. On top they had a super loud air conditioning in the room. I measured the noise with my iPhone. It said 58 db. Day and night. No possibility to switch it off. Can you imagine to sleep with that noise? I told the room service about that and they said, they could bring me a bottle of champagne in exchange for the noise but the noise couldn't be changed. BTW: room service forgot to make my room the first day, so I had to remind them in the late afternoon to finally do my room and on top they didn't clean the floor. There was dirt in the room on the carpet and also in front of my room and it stayed there for incredible four days. And the worst is: nobody takes responsibility. On day two I wanted to talk to a manager. The receptionist went to the back and came back after 10 minutes to tell me that there is no manager on duty and she would be the one. That can't take ten minutes. Obviously the person in charge was not willing to come to the front desk and help me.
- 5/5
This historic hotel is phenomenal! Great service and amenities!
- 1/5
The food in the ship Tavern was cold. The hotel was wonderful. It was beautiful rooms were nice and clean. Staff was very accommodating and very helpful.
- 5/5
The hotel is GORGEOUS and well located. We enjoyed the room and investigating the hotel. The staff was very nice and helpful. We would highly recommend this hotel. They also have wonderful tours of the hotel that you can book through their website. We booked an amazing private Enduring Spirits Tour (ghost tour) with Deborah which we highly recommend. She is so knowledgable, has done amazing research and tells a wonderful story! Do not hesitate to book this hotel when staying in Dever. You will not regret it!

Ruined our Valentine's Day Dinner, horrible waitress in the Atrium. Didn't take our order for over 40 mins after seating, so then we had the maitre d' take our order, after we complained. This didn't correct her behavior, and we wanted to order an entree, which she tells us like we're kindergarten kids, that we can't order and entree, there's a special occasion going on in Churchill's so you can only order appetizers. We booked for dinner, and was not told this would be a problem, while other wait staff went and got menus from the Ship's Tavern and brought them entrees from there. We were not afforded that privilege. The next morning, we were turned away from Ellyngton's by their maitre d' with plenty of open tables and she had just sat a couple just seconds before us. She told us she had "just closed her numbers" and if we weren't staying that night as well, then she couldn't help us. After spending over a large amount of money for the night and dinner, plus time at the ship's tavern, I'll stay at a Holiday Inn so I know I will be treated poorly for a much CHEAPER price. Thanks, you ruined our dinner and stay.
- 5/5
This historic property is beautiful! In addition to the gorgeous vintage details, there were so many little things that made our stay enjoyable: small things about the sleeping room, live music in the lobby, Churchill’s and dinner in the hotel. Highly recommend!
- 2/5
They changed our room last minute and told us it was an “upgrade” even though we are a couple who just wanted one bed, but the upgrade was making our room a two bed. It was a bit confusing to classify that as an upgrade, nonetheless the valet was very kind and the architecture is beautiful. Music was delightful and meals were tasty.
- 5/5

Ok
- 1/5
Had to leave at midnight because the AC didn’t work and they didn’t have other rooms. We went for drinks at the Ships Tavern and didn’t get our French fries for over an hour and had to leave to get to an event. The staff offered us champagne and then it didn’t arrive for 5 hours. The staff has not offered any way to rectify the situation and charged me double what they should have.
- 5/5
The service to the room we stayed in was all a 10/10. It was our first time at the brown palace and it I loved it! Definitely recommend anyone to visit and I will be going back again for sure!

We had two rooms. The heat would not go above 67 degrees. It was extremely cold. Bathroom fixtures were broken making it hard to regulate heat in the shower. I do not recommend this place. Too bad...
- 3/5
Meh not quite what I expected.
- 5/5
This place is magical! The updates over the decades have not detracted from the original grandeur. The service was great, the room was delightful, everything was well maintained. Can’t wait to return!
- 5/5
Excellent!
- 1/5
First, the service and food at Ships Tavern were subpar. The quality has steadily declined over the years, and this visit was no exception. However, the real issue came later when we retrieved our vehicle from valet. We were informed that they had damaged one of our tires and would tow it to the nearest Audi dealership. I ended up Ubering home, as we live locally, while my husband worked out the details with the valet manager. Afterward, he also Ubered home, and we had to rent a car for the weekend while Audi replaced the tire. Unfortunately, we then learned that the valet had tried to switch out the damaged tire with the spare — but did so improperly, damaging the spare in the process. Audi advised that all four tires should be replaced to avoid damage to the AWD system, as replacing just the damaged tire could cause further issues. What followed was incredibly frustrating. Valet refused to cover the full cost of replacing all four tires, and they won’t even engage with us directly anymore to discuss a resolution. Instead, they referred us to their claims department, which has been unresponsive and feels automated at best. We’ve reached out to management at the Brown Palace multiple times but have only received the runaround. They’ve refused to provide us with any meaningful information.
- 2/5
The room was not ready when check in time came up. There was no shower door in the bathroom. It created a large mess of water in the bathroom. The pillows were covered in black lint. The refrigerator was not working. Turns out it was not plugged. Overall was not as amazing as it has been in the past.
- 5/5
Great!
- 5/5
Awsome
- 5/5
We come here every NYE and are never disappointed…huge love for the Palace!
- 5/5
I thought the property was great and would stay again. Just keep in mind this is the oldest hotel in Denver so it will not have all the space that you might be used to in newer hotels. The charm and friendliness of the employees out weights a small bathroom!
- 4/5
Our room was nice but we stayed in winter and our heat didn’t work. We only stayed one night and after mentioning the heat issue in the morning to the hotel they didn’t bother to offer any sort of concession. The don’t find that to be professional. Stayed there numerous times but lately I feel the customer service isn’t up to par. Our bartender at dinner didn’t take our order or even offer drinks until after 15 minutes of sitting at the bar - a bit clueless. Pretty hotel but as I said I think they are definitely starting to lack in service and attention to detail.

- 4/5
My room was nice and spacious for its price. Maintenance was lacking in the hotel. I had to call maintenance twice to start the tub to work and then because it was leaking onto the floor because of clogging. Breakfast is delicious and served by very nice and helpful waiters. A great stay for its price
- 5/5
Great time and we enjoyed our stay!
- 3/5
While the lobby and staff were immaculate, the overall condition of the room was completely under cared for. The bathroom doors were falling off the hinges, the sink dripped no matter how you played with the taps, the showerhead and so much residue the water flew everywhere, the air unit only blew cold and the room never warmed past a certain point, and the paint bubbled and split on the ceiling. My brother had a different room and it was in much the same type of disrepair and I heard similar complaint from other patrons upon checkout that were met with complete disinterest from the staff.
