We've stayed here multiple times now and I highly recommend it, especially for the price. Wonderful staff.

Property & rooms very dated. Shutters wouldn’t stay closed. Gaps in door allowed heat of the day to come in. Shower extremely slippery - incorrect tile was used for floor. Extreme slipping possibility. Breakfast was ok. Coffee machine needs replacing. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Easy check-in at the sister property as we arrived after midnight. Great value. Nothing fancy but all you need for a comfortable, clean, in the heart of downtown Davis. Walkable to dining.

My son had a pleasant stay. His room was clean, quiet, and close to restaurants and stores, which was very convenient.

Perfect and cute little hotel, close to just about everything you could want/need. Walking distance to local restaurants and bars. Staff was really friendly and polite and the room was very nice and clean. I would recommend this place to everyone I know. Perfect for a couples weekend getaway.

Very humble and clean. Staff was helpful and there is additional support from the hotel across the road. AC a bit loud but otherwise worked well and helped drown out the city sounds. Would definitely stay again.

The location is exelent, with a lot of restaurant close by and a beatufull please to take a walk. The room was clean and contable, count with all the essentials. Breakfast it could be better.

Walking distance to UC Davis and the property allowed us to park all day after we checked out Rooms were very basic and breakfast was standard continental fare with plenty of carbs and nothing else. Didn’t even have a waffle maker so nothing was fresh and they didn’t even have hot water readily available. All guests had to share one teapot and wait for it to boil. Very expensive hotel for how basic is was

This is a small place but the location is good restaurants, small stores and has its own parking lot small but good. We stayed in a 2 beds room, it was clean and had everything we needed for our stayed. Breakfast room as good, basic but good.

In downtown Davis - very convenient to walk around the town. Cute motel style. Parking limited though - try to get there early and don’t stay out too late.

I am traveling solo on a recreational visit to see family in the Davis area. The location of this property is excellent. You’re absolutely right in the heart of Davis. So many fine restaurants within walking distance, coffee, shops, the farmers market. There is adequate parking for guests of the hotel. There is not an elevator, so you have to do some stairs if you're on the second floor. The stairs themselves are of old timber and our substantial looking, but they are uneven and I always felt a little bit awkward on them. The king size bed in my room was comfortable. Although the motel itself is nice, I would describe it as noisy. A lot of guests stand outside of their rooms and talk loudly into the wee hours, and the walls are thin so you can pretty well hear who’s doing what next-door to you. It’s nice that they serve breakfast and I would describe it as average.

Breakfast was average. Coffee machine was not working in breakfast room, and there was no creamer in the room for coffee. Everything was average, nothing special but not terrible.

They use parking permits now & we were trying to squeeze into the last spot available by the office door (late afternoon on Picnic Day) & a man came out of the office & rudely told us to be aware that guests need to enter through that door. I wanted to say "We know that because we're guests..." Meanwhile, there were at least 2 other cars in the lot without guest parking permits...

I arrived today expecting nothing more than a normal check-in. What I got instead was a front desk staff member whose attitude was hostile from the very first sentence. From the moment he asked for my name, his tone was already sharp, impatient, and openly intimidating. His stare and manner made one thing very clear: I was not being treated like a guest, but like a problem they wanted removed. The interaction was so oppressive and unsettling that I left immediately. I would rather lose money than remain for another minute in that kind of environment. This was not merely “bad service.” It felt deliberately hostile. What makes this worse is that I had already sent a detailed email explaining exactly what happened and giving the property every opportunity to respond professionally. Their answer was silence. No acknowledgment, no accountability, no effort to address the situation. To anyone considering staying here: think twice. This hotel does not know how to make guests feel welcome. The front desk creates hostility, and management appears to believe that ignoring complaints will make them disappear. It will not. I have now shared this experience across multiple platforms, because travelers deserve to know how this property handles paying guests and legitimate complaints. Some failures do not fade quickly, especially when they are met with silence instead of responsibility.

I've stayed at three other hotels in Davis while my son is attending the University. The Vine Inn has been the best in every way. From the front desk clerk's kindness to the most comfortable and CLEAN room. I had truly given up that any of the in-town hotels would be anything other than "okay". Also, the location was perfect, with the wonderful Cloud restaurant across the street and Saturday's Farmer's Market right around the corner, not even two blocks. This is the most impossible to believe part; it was the best priced. It may seem like I'm a friend of the owner, but I have no affiliation with anyone there except that they now have a "regular guest". I'm so happy I didn't settle with the okay hotels with the big names.

Good location, if you want access to downtown and restaurants. You are right there. It is small, clean and boutique like, somewhat. Staff is really nice and trying to be helpful It is noisy, you hear the train. I had the upstairs so it was not as bad as the downstairs for some reason. The breakfast is ok, it is food, but it is all junk food, nothing but fat, processed food and sugar. I decided that the value of the bread is almost negative. You can do better with the same breakfast budget and offer a little healthier food

It is in a great spot, you can easily walk around downtown to all the restaurants and bars. It has onsite parking. The first time I stayed there it was very clean, this time it was ok, the carpet was very stained and gross. The train….you hear the darn train, all night long. I locked up the clock, every 60-90 min, and they honk, not once but about 8-12 times. Staff is ok, they are very friendly, mostly young, I suppose college kids. However, that also gave me more of a hostile vibe than a hotel. Bookings or other important requests are ignored or missed sometimes, if you are ok with all that and Thomas the Tank sleeping with you then this is your place

The breakfast room has a nice assortment of juices, breads, cereals, yogurt, oatmeal, milks, etc. Parking is easy and staff friendly. On the downside, the heater runs constantly and is quite loud and neighborhood gardeners started with their leaf blowers just before 7am Saturday morning along with dumpster trash pick ups and the noise was VERY loud. I’ve stayed here twice now and next time will request a room not on the street. Overall it’s a very nice place to stay in Davis.

The room was clean and OK, along with the property in general. The workers were helpful and the free breakfast area was nice. We were woken up either after midnight or around 7am three of the five days by noisy people in the parking lot, noisy cars, and the garbage truck. Location in the town of Davis was great for walking to shops, restaurants and UCD. Quiet area and friendly staff. The heating system was a bit noisy, but worked well.

I hesitate to review the Vine and allowing the secret out. The rooms are comfortable and on par with many 4 star business hotels. The lack of pool and associated food option unfairly penalizes a wonderfully comfortable inn.

No one staffing the front desk when I arrives to check in at about 10:00 PM. Sign had me call another hotel to come get the key. Had to drive to go pick it up and then come back. Big hassle. What a pile.

Older place but pleasantly decorated, clean, with sturdy lock on the door. The bed isn't too soft or too hard and I woke up without back pain, which doesn't often happen to me at a hotel. Only issue was the front door had a gap in it, enough for a mouse to get through. I realize they probably have mice protection, but it still was a little uncomfortable. I got over it though.

We loved our stay. It's a no frills hotel, but it was clean, comfortable, nicely decorated, and in very close walking distance to downtown and the campus. Breakfast was perfect for us - good orange juice, yogurt, egg muffin sandwiches. Very pleasant staff.

This is a nice little inn and I appreciated the AC being available in the room, along with the small but convenient food options in the lobby. The room itself is small but I didn’t hear too much noise and I liked that everything was new. There is enough parking too. The front staff could use a little more training and friendliness but I guess they’re just college kids with an easy job. I appreciated the location and overall atmosphere

I was pleasantly surprised by how wonderful the Vine Inn was. I loved the decor in the rooms, the bed was comfortable. Everything was clean and classy. The front desk was very helpful and I loved that snacks/coffee were available anytime. The downtown location was perfect for walking to the Arboretum, dining spots and campus. I look forward to staying here again. The only downside is that the rooms with two beds have doubles, not Queens.

Yes the room was clean the air conditioner worked good I don't have a car the only and I feel it's the most important thing when I got to the office I was smoking a cigarette so I waited to finish my cigarette when someone passing bye asked if I had an extra cigarette they could have so I gave them one after I finished my cigarette I walked into the office and proceeded to check in that I don't notice that the person I had given the cigarette had come into the office I had only meet him for 10min while I finished smoking , y cigarette to make it short i was in the room for 3hrs and when to get food and when I got back the person that I gave the cigarette too was their and told me the front desk had given him a key to my room I didn't know that till he showed me the key and used it and got into my room Im very mad that they would done that

I’ve stayed at this location over 50 times and loved it. I stayed there the Tuesday and Wednesday. And woke up to cockroaches in my bed and the staff, which I known well in the course of staying there as often as I do, just stare at me and said it’s because of the rain????? They were in my bed!!!!! I could not believe it and have had nothing but good memories and service at the vine inn the davis

If you're looking for a nice place to stay right in the middle of a vibrant University town, this is the place. It is conveniently located to UC Davis (a 10 minute walk) and many eateries/tea and coffee/shops right next door. The room was spacious and well appointed. Refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker were also in the room. For its location, it is surprisingly quiet. (There is an Amtrak station several blocks away, so there is some train noise, but not disturbing.) Note that if you take Amtrak, you can walk down to the Inn, as long as you're not carrying an excessive amount of luggage. We will definitely stay here again. The price point was below the other University hotels in the area.

The Vine is an amazing hotel! Simply stated…stay there! It’s clean, comfortable, affordable, and right in the Davis downtown area. It’s my go to when in Davis.

Carpet was dirty and staff was very rude. Would not recommend staying here.

What a great little place and even more awesome because of the price. Was very happily surprised at the room. Try it! You will also be impressed. Had a ground level double room with an exterior door - felt very safe. Amenities - toiletries and coffee set-up were nice!

I’ve stayed at The Vine several times over the last few years, visiting my daughter who attends UC Davis. The neighborhood is great. Cute shops and restaurants, and a quick walk to campus. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Friendly, helpful folks at the desk—usually students. It has a nice, community feel.

My wife and I love staying at The Vine! It is one of the first places we look at when staying in Davis. Most often the rates are competitive and that does matter. We love the spacious rooms and always try to get a corner room. The front desk is always accommodating and helpful. The rooms are very clean and the amenities are nice. We love that it is in the heart of Davis and the downtown area witihin walking distance of restaurants, shops and the weekend Farmer's Market!

I really enjoyed everything about my stay

Safe, clean, friendly and affordable. The bed’s headboard is a little goofy, but everything is perfect. Love the water pressure in the shower.

Front desk completely unengaged and unaware over 2 shifts. Transient individual on the property blocking the stairs. No one to call to notify at the front desk. Only a Message on phone saying we are closed for the night. Davis is a safe town but feel very uncomfortable here.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the rooms are clean. A few frustrating things, though: the AC has the “check filter” light on, was very loud, and never turned off when the set temperature was reached; there are more rooms than parking spots so when the motel was full I had to find on-street parking a couple times; no way to get Netflix etc on the tv, the tv didn’t even say what channel it was on, and you couldn’t go to a particular channel by entering a number — this made the tv almost unusable.

The air conditioning unit was so loud that it kept waking me up but the room remained hot. Cleanliness was fine. The continental breakfast was poor. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would not stay here again and cancelled my return reservation.

I went for a night to help my daughter with her move. I booked the room the day before and got a good price. The office staff was great and I was pleasantly surprised with the room. The location is great, right in downtown Davis. I would definitely go there again!

This is the second time I stayed here, both quick trips to the Davis/Sacramento area. This refurbished motel is in a great location, super clean and comfortable, courteous efficient staff, and I'll definitely look to stay here next time I'm in town.

I was surprised by the location of this hotel. So close to many restaurants and Downtown Davis, yet it was quiet. I loved how well used the space in the room is with a refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave. It was hot during my visit but the air conditioning was cold. The property is kept very clean.

Great location for visiting downtown Davis and campus. Breakfast was just some danishes, boxed cereal and not great coffee. Go down the street to get breakfast. Could be a loud location on weekends when UC Davis is in session.

It was close to UC Davis campus, and I love most things, but the sink was so small. Every time I washed my hands for face, water splashed out of the sink.

The location is great, surrounded by restaurants and shops. Parking is tight, and they don't have enough spaces for everyone. Street parking costs, but is free after 6pm or all day Sunday. My room was nice, but there was a sweatshirt sitting on a chair, and the shampoo bottle was almost empty, which made me doubt the overall cleanliness of the place. All in all, good value for the money, as the location can't be beat and the room was comfortable, but they need to have higher standards when it comes to cleanliness.

Farmers Market

Needed an overnight location for a quick trip. Was very cute and staff was exceptional. Very close to great restaurants and bars downtown. Very quiet location. The rooms are just a little dated but still clean and for the price, excellent. Would stay again for short downtown visit.

We love staying at The Vine. The rooms are always quiet, comfortable, and clean. The location is super - within walking distance of many restaurants, farmers market, university, etc. I'm so glad we found this place and it now where we always stay when visiting our daughter in Davis.

Perfect location in downtown Davis

All was great. The only comments would to have better coffee at the breakfast, have some real cream/milk for coffee, and use less toxic smelling cleaning products in the room.

I hit a sharp curb coming into the hotel parking lot, blew a tire, and needed to get towed. I thought it was just bad luck or careless driving. Then the AAA tow truck driver pointed out that this was common, and that he had repeatedly been called for identical incidents. The hotel receptionist said the same thing. You can see considerable damage to the curb from previous incidents (whose jagged remnants probably make it worse. In short, management must have known for a long time about the problem, and it is still there. Unacceptable.

Recently renovated, clean, exactly what we needed for a short stay in downtown Davis for an event. Parking availability was a huge plus.

Nice decor and in a neighborhood with eateries within walking distance. Safe neighborhood. Real coffee mugs available with complimentary coffee. Breakfast not fancy but able to find something satisfying to eat. This is the 2nd time we’ve stayed here within the last year.

Staff was extremely helpful and responsive. I was initially in a room that had a gas leak smell. The next morning I requested to be changed to another room and they did that right away. It was resolved seamlessly, and I was very grateful for the way the staff responded.

Small independent hotel

Great location in Davis Old Town. Super comfortable and clean. A bit noisy due to night life in area. Might stay there again as I have a UCD student for another year with plans to visit again.

We were in town for Picnic Day and to visit our daughter. We were given a room right above a gentleman who was very loud and disruptive (amd likely ill). At one point, there were police banging on the door and then the paramedics were there. Given how charming downtown Davis is, I'm guessing this was out of the ordinary. And, for how much we paid, I wish had paid a little more for a nicer place.

The room was dingy, carpet looked stained, and some wallpaper peeling off the wall. There was another guest who sat on a bench below our room smoking cigars, which we could smell in our room, and another who kept his door open all day while he watched TV. Would not choose this property again.
