Reviews
The hotel has a great location in downtown Davis, close to UC Davis and various shops and restaurants. The staff is generally friendly and helpful. However, the property is run down and in need of upgrades, with frequent complaints about the elevator not working, rooms being small, dirty, and smelling bad, and the train noise disrupting sleep.

It was very convenient where the location of the hotel was.

Handicapped accessible room was on first floor, but located in an annex building across the parking lot at the far end of the hall. We did not like the sliding barn-style door to the bathroom, which left a gap at the side. There was a Keurig coffee-maker in the room, but only one coffee pod; the other 3 were tea.

I had the best experience, especially best staff, among the Hilton Garden Inn stays. By the way, the public parking is free during the weekend.

The reakfast was basic but of course convenient. I arrived quite late. I was given a room on the 1st floor of a satellite building, the room next to the exterior door. If it wasn't so late after a long travel day, I would have gone back to the lobby and requested a different room.

The check in staff would not give me my Hilton points. They said I didn’t book at the hotel. The parking was high at $18 / night

Location - perfect for walking around downtown Davis. We love Davis but will find another place to stay next time we visit UCD. Parking should be more accommodating to folks that have a lot of luggage and are staying multiple days. Our bathroom sink was completely clogged when we arrived. After asking twice we got it fixed. Parking is a super big challenge and confusing how to pay and how much it would be and where we could park. The spaces in the parking garage are too skinny and no one keeps their car inside the white line because it is impossible to get our of your car without bumping into your neighbor! Concrete pylons are in the way and do not help with the limited space. Elevator to parking garage was broken.

Good parking, nice lobby and breakfast, with options for those with dietary restrictions. Room was clean and spacious. Sound of trains in the early am, and alarm clock was set early from a prior guest and woke me up early. Price seemed high for what it was.

Location in a lovely town, ideal for what we were on business for with a number of cafes/coffee shops/restaurants all within walking distance but many businesses don't come alive until 11am each day. Breakfast was adequate with a choice offered on the buffet. Room was comfortable but noise of the Amkar train in the early hours of the morning and indeed late at night were disruptive to good sleep - the establishment does provide ear plugs, but I personally do not like to use these.

The front desk staff was pleasant, the lobby and breakfast area were nice. The hotel room was okay. I overlooked that parking is extra as is the breakfast, for the rate we paid both should’ve been included.

Room smelled, no pool, you have to pay for parking and the crap breakfast, loud Amtrak train right next to property.
- 5/5
Clean, convenient and reasonably priced. A quick visit to UC Davis for a college tour was our reason for staying and it was perfect. There is a train station nearby so if you are a light sleeper and want to sleep late you’ll probably want to stay somewhere else. If trains in the morning don’t bother you it’s a great central location to stay when visiting UC Davis.

It’s not a bad hotel. Great area, staff was incredible, easily walkable to anything downtown or campus. Only negative were the uncomfortable beds. Woke up multiple times a night and it ruined my back.
- 3.5/5
Nice staff and lobby. The bed was comfortable. It’s looking very worn in the bathroom. I could see cement showing around the shower because the plastic has worn off. The shower flour looks like it needs to be replaced. New pillows r needed.

Pee stains on the bed. Terrible coffee for breakfast with no alternative milks. Elevator was extremely loud and dingy. Dirty bathroom walls on main lobby. I came for my sister’s graduation and they prices gauged. $800 per night for a crappy hotel.
- 3/5
Comfortable bed and pillow. Very clean room and facilities overall. Only decaf Kuerig pods in my room so had to go ask for regular at the desk. Staff in food area didn’t greet or reply to my greeting as I was getting my coffee. The coffee in the food area was lukewarm and not very good. The price is higher than other comparable places in downtown Davis that include a similar breakfast but no $15 per person charge for it, just comes with the stay.

6:00 am breakfast means READY @ 6 am, not John comes to work. But...California...so, no surprise. The cleanliness... The hotel is moldy, mildew, just gross. This is if Hilton forgot they had a hotel here and forgot to send corporate inspections.

Want to park? $18.50 per night, IF you can find a space. Want free wifi? Can't get it without technical assistance, which did not seem to be available. Want faster wifi (to match what I had at Quality Inn)? Costs extra. The QR code doesn't work for anything - had to get a handwritten parking permit. The light in the bathroom turned off while I was taking a shower.

Room was clean except for window which was really dirty. The blinds were broken which was a pain being on the first floor facing the parking lot. We didn’t eat there. Front desk staffer didn’t put our room number on our key. Bit of a pain to find our room. Had already unloaded the car and didn’t want to drag our stuff to the lobby. For the money this hotel was so so.

Great stay. I wish I had parked overnight on the street instead of paying 18 in the lot. Bed and room was very modern and comfy. Very nice area of town close to dining and shops. Surprised to find earplugs in room but emergency vehicles made it clear why - thanks staff! Check out the farmers market on Saturday. Really nice kids playground there if you have young ones.

We were disappointed with our stay. The hotel is two separate buildings and we were in the one in the back. The door to the building was not locked so anyone could walk through. The hallways weren’t clean and the building had a weird smell. Don’t let the pictures fool you. The patio area between the two buildings was not anywhere I would want to spend time.

Was in Davis for a soccer tournament. Hotel is very dated, things are literally falling apart. Got woken up on Friday at 6:30am by a construction happening right outside my window and workers staring in (thankfully didn't continue over the weekend). On the plus side, it's right in the downtown, so everything is walking distance. The courtyard area wa nice for a large group to hangout during the day.

Easy check-in, nice room. A little bit confusing at first because there are two different buildings and we had a little trouble finding where our room actually was, but they were very helpful at the front desk and sorted it out for us. All in all, it’s a nice property. Very quiet and clean. My only complaint is that as a tea drinker, there is no way to simply make hot water in the room. The coffee maker only works if there is a Keurig pod installed. They do offer Jasmine tea pods but if you’re looking just to make a hot water to use your own teabag, you’re out of luck

After that first afternoon, I heated water for tea in the kureg and it was brown and filthy, there were black smudge all over the sheets and pilliow cases so they had to bring me new ones at 12:15am, I cleaned my feet and after walking kn the carpet they were pitch black , there was smelly stagnant water on the balcony that stank, the halls smelled so bad another person staying there who I did not know said it smelled like a porta pottie. There was a puddle of something leaking from the garbage can right next to the elevator that was not cleaned up the entire time I was there. I could go on and on. It was so bad that the property manager OFFERED TO COMP MY ENTIRE STAY. They said I should be receiving an email with a full credit which they had already informed Egencia about via email before I left the property.

Seems very old and dingy. Lobby & bar looked nice, but the bar wasn’t open the entire weekend. The AC didn’t work so 1st night was rough. They did come & fix it the next day. Definitely not worth what I paid. Would never recommend this place.

Downtown and close to restaurants, however could be cleaner. Chemical smells in the corridors couldn’t totally mask the odors, some of which lingered in the room which still contained items from the previous guests. This is the second time in this hotel but now may be the last.

The tv didn’t work and I am still waiting for the extra pillow I asked for. No water in the room or enough coffee pods and the room was never cleaned during a 3 day stay. Pretty much no service available. It was a CCACA week and they were short staffed.

Hotel staff was friendly but the hotel grounds are a bit trashy, meaning literally trashy. A huge dumpster with overflowing garbage next to the building can’t be good for rodent control. Room was ok but bathroom light switch broke right away, wifi signal was spotty, property needs some updating and love.

The rooms are standard, staff was nice and helpful, the lobby is a great gathering spot for large groups. Location is great, right in downtown. The only down sides are that our room faces the train tracks, some noice from trains. Also only one elevator and quite slow. Overall a good stay.

I enjoyed my stay at the Hilton Garden Inn. It was very clean (white linens). Everything in the bathroom worked well. The staff at the front desk were lovely. We ate breakfast and dinner at nearby cafes every day, and we had a great time.

The team members were wonderful. However the facilities were run down. The elevator buttons were broken and sometimes did not work. The facet in the bathroom leaked. The shower head and bathtub ran at the same time and drain plug didn't work. Both beds in the room squeaked. The location was good.

Everything was great, location is great and parking. Just be aware a train goes by several times a night and early morning.

Extremely loud with the train. They offer you earplugs when you check in. But, good location to UC Davis is that is what you are looking for.

Hotel was clean snd staff very friendly

The hotel is in a great spot in relation to downtown Davis. The only draw back is the proximity to the train station. The train whistles are loud at times, but not worth complaining about to the management the way a guest was when i was checking in.Read the descriptions carefully Karen.

Nice hotel, clean and friendly staff. Parking was a little hard to figure out at first, but over all good experience.

Great service from front desk.

I will definitely stay here again, however, you can hear the train which is just one block away, and unfortunately, the kitchen amd bar was closed

Great location, fitness room was perfect and clean, rooms were also clean. The bed was very squeaky.

Morales greeted me upon check in and made the process smooth. She is kind and professional

Had problems connecting to the WiFi. The front desk was very helpful.

Love hanging out in the lobby and so convenient to have a bar on site! Close to everything downtown!

Has to change the room twice, bc of the smell. The 3rd room had the AC broken. That was all they had for that weekend. It was a huge disappointment.

Very well situated, clean and affordable hotel.

Warm and welcoming, helpful and accommodating. Located downtown, so be prepared for some noise

Nice place, clean and in downtown Davis
- 1/5
the staff was amazing and very accommodating. however the hotel itself is very outdated. our room had a weird smell and we had to switch rooms and to find out it was directly across the way from a train. so we heard the train honking at night. I wouldn’t stay here again.
- 5/5
Employees very nice and helpful. It was clean and comfortable. The only complain is the coffee is really terrible in the room and in the lobby.
- 2/5
Requested a wake up call that never happened.

Everything is great

I arrived and was assigned one of the worst rooms East building directly next to train which ran day and night Right above the trash with bottle recycling two times during the night and next to the ice machine Terrible for sleeping Pull down blinds do not have a pull up and do not block the bright light on all night right outside my window Drapes so skimpy about 12 inches each side provided no blockage of the all night light

Friendly staff, well designed environment

Staff was very helpful! I had a couple areas in the room that weren’t clean when I told them about it. They took notes and indicated they would take care of it.

Friendly and fast service!! Thank you

We had to park down the ramp, and their was no elevator to get up or down to our vehicle. It was hard for me to walk up and down the ramp.
- 4/5
I would stay there again.
- 5/5
Check in staff was very friendly and to the job.
- 5/5
Busy area but easily found parking around back. Manager on duty checked me in, she was super efficient and friendly. We’ve never been to the area and she was full of suggestions on where to eat and grab a beer. Carpet in hall is a little dated and you can only get in via one end of the East building however the room was immaculate and had everything we needed. Bed was comfy and aside from some loud neighbors, it was a quiet and relaxing experience. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
The associate, Oswaldo, was both pleasant and professional during the check-in process. The hotel was clean from the lobby and up to the room. Will look to staying here often when in town.
- 5/5
Nice staff and surrounding areas
- 3/5
Only one chair in room. No lamp at the desk. Room smelled like bleach. Elevator has very unpleasant smell. Toilet malfunctioned. Train noise at night.
- 4/5
Totally unlike my previous experience at the Garden Inn. Tacky, low rent, funky room. Everybody's friendly of course, but absolutely sub-standard conditions for a hotel with the Hilton name.
