Reviews
The hotel is praised for its prime location, with many amenities and attractions within walking distance. However, the noise from the on-site restaurant is a common complaint, particularly in the early morning. The rooms are described as quaint and charming, but also small and sometimes in need of repair.

Overall the stay was good with an attentive staff and greet Mexican food restaurant. Disappointment was hot tub was out of order and this is what we were looking forward to during our stay.

Clean room
- 3/5
We booked this because we needed a two bedroom unit close to the beach in Coronado that was somewhat affordable. It was very close to the beach, as well as shopping in Coronado, with many good restaurants all within walking distance. The room was old. Smelled old, too. Kitchenette and living room were very dated. Beds were quite comfortable, however, and nicely appointed bedrooms. Parking was a nightmare. Street parking was almost non-existent and their garage was too far for my handicapped brother to walk. Charged for it, but don’t remember how much they said. The restaurant attached was under construction, so had to walk around that going back and forth to room. Very small pool that no one used, but it was clean. It’s a cute property that just needs some updating, but a decent price for the location.
- 3/5
It was a good location close to shops and restaurants and such, but the room we got was so tiny! For the price we paid to not even be able to turn around in the shower-and I am a very petite person and it was very very small. The bathroom was like 5 square feet, if someone sat on the toilet their feet could reach out and touch the shower.
- 2/5
The main issue was that there was no hot water in my room for more than 24 hours. Taking a shower or using hot water was simply impossible during a significant part of my stay. What made the situation worse is that the hotel staff appeared to be aware of the problem, yet guests were still checked into affected rooms. While staff members apologized, there was no meaningful effort to resolve the situation promptly and no fair compensation was offered for such a major inconvenience. Being told that a plumber would eventually come was not a solution, especially when it became clear that repairs were unlikely to happen quickly. When you pay for a hotel, basic amenities like hot water should be available. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. The lack of communication, limited response from management, and absence of adequate compensation left a very negative impression. I cannot recommend this hotel based on my experience and would think twice before staying here again.

Unauthorized charges.
- 3/5
Historically beautiful hotel right by the Coronado, living on its past while crumbling. The gentleman at the front dest was wonderful!! The rest was meh. Who stocks the room with only decaf pods, that go to a coffee pot which is broken? Fail
- 5/5
Very clean and comfortable room. Great location. Great staff.
- 4/5
♿ Room suite #36 I was a solo disabled traveler and the hotel assigned me an ADA suite which was very spacious but maybe has a few quirks imperfect for everyone. Chiefly the main queensized bed was very high, close to 29". There was a sofa bed, and I chose to sleep on that at ~19" high. Additionally the spacious roll in shower had a distinctly sloped floor for drainage. That made navigating your own chair exactly as you wish for transfers, a little challenging or unstable. Lastly the bathroom sink was lacking adjacent counter space. Pluses were the full kitchen with a low (lower than the masterbed ?) countertop and ♿ room under the sink, stove, and prep area. The roomy separate room with the toilet and small sink was a luxury. Cheers.
- 4/5
Loved the location and quaintness of this hotel. However bathroom needed some cosmetic work. I sometime think they give Hotel.com quests the worse room. We were located right by Mexican restaurant and looked out on a tin roof. Thought there was daily room cleaning but ours was never cleaned. Would definitely expect and ask for more next time.
- 5/5
Loved the Spanish style of the building The parking. We had to park on the street. It wasn’t bad because it was on a weekday but I don’t think I would have the same luck on a weekend.
- 5/5
The El Cordova Hotel is an exceptional and charming hacienda cstyle hotel in the heart of Coronado featuring a delicious Mexican and Seafood Restaurants within its corridor and across the street from the famous Del Hotel and endless beach. It is surrounded by endless shopping and international restaurants. The front desk staff are exceptional and receptive to all requests.
- 5/5
As we experienced cool weather, we required heat. A space-heat was provided by the hotel.
- 2/5
Well I stayed for a week the hot tub NEVER worked. My room was next to an alley so it was not quite. The pull out couch was broke. So it just hurt the back. Overall id say find something else.
- 5/5
We’ve stayed here twice and had a great stay both times
- 5/5
clean room and spacious suite, 5 minutes walk to the beach and restaurants .
- 5/5
Location Nothing
- 1/5
The hotel room was in disrepair, the carpet was very dirty, the room smelled like animals living there 😢
- 4/5
Studio.
- 3.5/5
I like the location and the unique nature of the hotel. Some rooms need updating. Room maintenance is sporadic even if asked for.
- 5/5
The hotel was conveniently located to the beach and restaurants. Staff were courteous and friendly! They also provided us with beach chairs!
- 4/5
Great location a block from the beach.
- 4/5
Pretty, sweet flower tiles in bathroom and kitchen, spacious, airy Steep stairs (16 or so) to our suite. Tricky lugging our stuff up and down!
- 5/5
Nice amenities and very responsive staff!
- 5/5
It’s very cute and comfortable and is walkable to everything
- 3.5/5
Some portions of room provided in poor repair. Room in need of pest control.
- 2/5
Positive side it is a block from the beach and across from the Coronado Hotel
- 3/5
Loved the location. We walked to several great restaurants and shopping The hotel is aged. Rooms were ok, but stairs to rooms were dirty carpet . Needs more maintenance in main and outside areas for cleanliness
- 5/5
Hot tub could be hotter
- 1/5
This doesn’t deserve the one star I gave it. This is hands down the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The window was broken and fell out the FRONT door wouldn’t lock and we were told sorry maintenance left. The lights were out so the stairs were quite literally pitch black. The shower filled to your calves with water…it was almost funny. They don’t return emails or calls. Horrible negative a million stars.
- 2.5/5
My room.the stairs were so steep very difficult to go in and out
- 5/5
we loved the location. Great area. everything is in walking distance. Restaurant next door was really good.
- 4/5
The property is charming but tired and in need of maintenance such as loose or missing tiles. Family suites are good. There is a table with 4 chairs and full kitchen. Stairs are very steep on the 2nd floor units. Be careful. Parking is a nightmare.
- 4/5
Loved the tiles in the bathroom and loved the location, great area!
- 4/5
Location was perfect for all the surrounding areas. Pull out couch was broke, we had a third guest who had to sleep on top of the couch.
- 2.5/5
Location was near everything and close to the beach. Smells like a Mexican restaurant plus all the rooms are turned towards an alley that have noise all night long. The property is very rundown. No parking.
- 2/5
A very good location in Coronado. Room needs an update. Gave the impression of a worn out room. Flakes of paint missing on doors, loose shower controller, not fresh carpets, a lamp not working etc.
- 5/5
hotel, beautifully maintained. A landscaped patio with pool and an evening fire pit. great restaurant next door. perfect.
- 3.5/5
Our key didn't work at times.Shower head didn't work properly. The shower strainer was bent and would hurt our feet when we would shower.
- 3.5/5
Perfect location. Rooms were nice. Trying to find staff. Not enough hotel parking. We had to park on the street and move our car all the time. The spa was cold and no one could find where to turn up the heat. We couldn't find any staff to help. We did find a note that said they'd be back the next day.
- 4/5
Room was clean and comfortable, parking off-site was available for a fee. Staff was pleasant and polite. Very convenient to the beach and restaurants.
- 5/5
The property is beautiful. The location is perfect… walking distance to the beach and also the shopping area. The onsite restaurant is also very convenient. Nothing. This is my second stay here. I specifically chose this hotel due to the above reasons.
- 3/5
Staff very nice and helpful. Location is great.Parking is off site two blocks away and pricey. it is also limited. There is no easy way to drop off luggage either before you park. If you have mobility issues some rooms are not accessible and require you to access via very steep stairs.
- 4.5/5
Fantastic location and great staff! Suite bathroom was alittle small and shower did clog but overall it was a nice room.
- 5/5
Close to the Del and all we want to do when in Coronado.
- 5/5
Historic hotel. Fabulously location on Coronado Island with great restaurants and shopping. Beach across the street. Room with kitchen and separate bedroom. A bit worn because of age but adds to the charm.
- 5/5
Clean, convenient with a cool vintage vibe Would definitely stay again, nothing to complain about.
- 5/5
Nothing.
- 5/5
Nice place. Very good location. Can be a little loud if near the restaurant but it closes at 9pm. So not loud into the night. Loved the rooms
- 5/5
We had the best time! Love the decor, the restaurant and the staff!
- 5/5
Really enjoyed our time here. So conveniently located to just about everything. I love the atmosphere and the decor. Really felt like we got away.
- 5/5
Great staff and location
- 2/5
We had cockroaches, spiders and other bugs. I let the front desk know. I was told management would reach out. No one has. The large cockroach my husband smashed before I took a photo.
- 4/5
Good bedding, big space, reasonable price, prefect location but the property is really old. Basically it is a very good fit for family trip if you are not fasion hotel fans.
- 3/5
The parking is off site a few blocks away, but thankfully we found a spot there because it was hard to find street parking (which is only two hours). The AC didn’t cool and the tub drain was stuck halfway so didn’t stay for a bath, but didn’t drain well for the shower. The worst part is that they said someone would come by for the AC and the tub on the second day, and they never did. Also, housekeeping never came by and we were there for four nights. It was like they forgot we were there.
- 5/5
Great customer service, welcoming and clean.
- 4/5
The room needed repairs..bathroom fixtures, lighting, charging. Pool areas was lovely with firepit, tables, chairs and couches.
- 3/5
Location was great. No real maid service.
- 5/5
Parking was the only headache, if you don’t want to pay for the public garage. You can park at the beach for free during the day and in the residential area off of the hotel at night. Overall it was a great stay for my family. Would stay again.
- 4/5
The hot tub wasnt hot at all, it was barely luke warm and they didnt have towels out at the pool but other then that it was a great stay. Super close to the beach and shops. I would stay there again.
- 5/5
Another great stay at the best place on the island! We got our requested room (thank you Daniel) which is the one we’ve stayed in during our 10 stays at the property. We stay in back where it’s quiet and close to the parking garage. We love this place for its convenience to the beach, dining and shopping. Clean comfy rooms with a great rate-we’ve already made a reservation for October.
- 5/5
The landscaping/grounds were well kept , pool. Love having Miguel’s Mexican restaurant right there!!!
- 5/5
This place is a hidden gem
- 4/5
The property is located near Hotel del Coranado surrounded by nice restaurants, coffee shops, bike rentals, shopping. This hotel is quirky, a little tired, feels a little like being in Mexico.
- 5/5
Best hotel i have stayed
- 5/5
Our room appeared to be recently updated and was quiet. I would note that some of the suites require climbing stairs which was not a problem for us but guest should be aware. The hotel is near lots of restaurants within walking distance. And there is a Mexican one onsite that is excellent. I would love to stay here again!
- 4/5
Everyone was very nice and helpful
- 5/5
Great location, great room and excellent staff
- 2/5
This was our second stay at El Cordova Hotel, the previous stay a few years back was great. This time, not so much. First, the price you pay isn't the total--they hit you a $30 a day "amenities" fee (perhaps it is in the fine print when you book the hotel, but com'on, that's just plain deceptive to wait until you arrive to charge that. It should be up front. Second, our shower drain was clogged and backed up. There is no staff at night to assist, so we had to wait until the next morning to shower--this impacted our plans since it was our wedding anniversary trip. The staff was pleasant and nice. We likely won't be back.
- 4/5
Great location that was close to the beach, restaurants, and shopping. Front desk staff was great. The tract to the room on the 2nd floor was challenging with heavy suitcases.
- 5/5
Fabulous staff, charming immaculate room and perfect location.
- 4/5
Amazing and cute hotel.
- 5/5
Great location.
- 4/5
Clean, large rooms with kitchen (including oven!). Amazing location across the street from the beach and walking distance to all the shops.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, great location, rooms with space and kitchens. Nice historic style.
- 4/5
The room was clean. The staff was very courteous. The stairs getting to the room where difficult to climb. The restaurant on site was excellent.
- 5/5
Such a fantastic location, walk down the stairs and you’re in the restaurant
- 5/5
The staff was wonderful, room was spotless. Adorable property so much charm. Right across from beach quick walk. . Easy walking to resturants.Highly recommend.
- 4/5
It was fun to stay in an older hotel… but it was older. Many of our outlets didn’t work. And the resort fee is a bit of a disappointment. But the workers were all nice and helpful. The pool was quite cold but when we arrived late the man at the desk said he would open it for us and our son. Nice people all around. Just not thrilled about the resort fee.
- 4/5
Quaint, Mediterranean feel to this hotel with its spread-out rooms and tiny spaces, but everything very clean and charming tile in the minuscule bathroom. Front desk staff helped with bags up steep outdoor steps to our room.
- 5/5
It was a wonderful time, very confortable. I will do it again.
- 3/5
Room was fine, shower did not feel the cleanest. Kind of an odd sme
- 5/5
Great location
- 3/5
We have enjoyed numerous stays at the El Cordova. The room we had this trip had some cleanliness issues including grungy bath floors & dirt build up on baseboards. The only towel bar was broken. They need to take room 118 out of service for a deep clean.
- 5/5
Perfect location and nice clean and quiet
- 5/5
Your staff was amazing!
- 4/5
Location. Comfortable beds. Free beach chairs.
- 5/5
Property is beautiful with lots of shops all around with plenty of dining options all in walking distance. Highly recommended eating at Miguel’s as they have amazing food and drinks.
- 5/5
Beautiful old classy hotel near beach and the Del. Reasonably priced for Coronado!
- 2/5
I needed them to provide a receipt for the local taxes they charged. I forgot to collect it at the time I paid. They refused to provide the receipt and didn't respond to repeated inquiries.
- 2/5
Be careful with this place. Their so called guest parking is a BofA parking structure two blocks away, and they don’t control capacity of dedicated spaces for paying guests. We arrived at hotel (nice enough for price), and were told that they didn’t have available parking. Unfortunately was the repeated word.
- 3/5
They make you pay a courtesy fee, even if you don’t use the amenities. No parking except for a small parking structure where other people take the parking.
- 2/5
Staff was great! The room so cute and quaint until dark and the bugs came out! We cut our stay short.
- 5/5
#lovedit
- 4/5
This property surprised us. Clean, well-managed, and very well situated hotel across the street from the Hotel del Coronado. The room was spacious, clean, and had a small kitchen, which made our day! It is an old property lacking some accessibility options. The wi-fi is also very spotty, necessitating and room change. Otherwise, this was a very nice property we would stay at again.
- 5/5
Clean
- 1/5
The rooms are very smelly, so take a refreshing spray. No Hot water.
- 5/5
Clean room, quiet hotel, friendly staff, nice location
- 2/5
Staff at check in did not provide any information about the property or how to enjoy our stay. The room, especially the bathroom is in horrible condition. Paint peeling, toilet paper roll holder broken and unusable, door way trim bent and comming off, mildew in the shower window, broken tiles, missing grout, the mirror was cloudy with black spots everywhere. We were charged an amenities fee without notice. Thus was shocking because the amenities at motel 6 are better than what El Cordova has to offer. In every hotel I've ever been to, amenities are part of the package. Not extra charges. It seems the location is what keeps this hotel in business, not the hotel experience.
- 3/5
The location is great, and the staff and overall cleanliness of the hotel is good. However, the rooms are a bit outdated and could benefit from some upgrades. We went in late Nov. and the heaters didn't work, the windows didnt open and bedding was outdated.
- 5/5
Great location, quiet hotel with lovely courtyard areas. Very private room! It would have been nice to have the soaps/lotion refilled to the top before we stayed in the room, but that was such a minor detail! Would stay again.
- 3/5
Room was clean but a bit threadbare and rundown. Friendly service but maid service was absent. The property was also lacking in upkeep and seemed tired like it had seen better days.
- 2/5
When we checked in, the ceiling light fixture just inside our suite entry door was full of water but still producing light. I reported it and the desk sent up someone to check on it who I had to tell how to remove the fixture cover. The fixture was never operational again during the rest of our three-night stay. The desk acknowledged that the bulbs needed replacing, but they never were. Each time I reported it, the person at the desk I talked with was unaware of the issue. The heat/air conditioning was inoperative during our entire three-night stay. We're from Arizona, and it was COLD during our entire three-night stay. The phone operation was intermittent due to a worn-out telephone jack and line cord plug combo. This was also acknowledged by staff but never fixed. The facility was VERY noisy with a liquor-serving dining venue very near and very close proximity to a major traffic artery. As "compensation" we were given a paltry discount and the problems were still unaddressed when we checked out. The online presentation also did not make it clear that there was no onsite parking. Two nights I had to park about a half mile from the hotel and walk.
- 5/5
Great location and stay
- 4/5
Loved the location and room was very clean and suited our purposes
- 4/5
Unfortunately, the alarm for the restaurant business went off all night long, keeping us up. The hotel tried to help the n the middle of the night but it took a while. All said, the hotel is a great location; walking distance to many great restaurants and hotel Del Coronado
- 4/5
Hotel rooms need updating, but the location is perfect
- 5/5
Thank you - great spot! I will stay again ⭐️
- 1/5
Cute place and nice location other than that .
- 5/5
Enjoyed our stay, clean well stocked kitchen, fire table in the courtyard with comfortable chairs was awesome. Friendly staff and great location.
- 3/5
Overall good value with great location
- 3/5
Aging hotel with quirky smells. Staff dressed down nearly in pajamas and barely awake/attentive. Rodent droppings and scratch sounds in walls.
- 5/5
Another excellent stay at our favorite hotel. Benjamin was the perfect host and helped us with our room and parking pass. We always ask for the same room, as it was the first one we occupied, and is perfect for our needs. We were glad to have such a welcoming host and have already made another reservation.
- 3/5
Rooms need to be remodeled.
- 5/5
Everything was absolutely wonderful! The staff were super informative and helpful. The room was spacious and great! And the location!!! Right next to everything
- 4/5
This is a great location with a full kitchen. The front desk staff were amazing. However, there was no propane in the grills and it took 2 days for staff to address the issue. The carpet in our room was absolutely filthy and the room seemed rather worn. It looked like other rooms had wooden flooring so it may be just the room we had to unfortunately stay in for that week.
- 5/5
No on site parking, which wouldn’t be a problem if it hadn’t been pouring rain.
- 3/5
Good location!
- 5/5
Cute property and easy walk to beach.
- 1/5
Also Ac didn’t work
- 4/5
Cute and unique hotel!
- 1/5
The Ac didn’t work but worst of all there were cockroaches in the room.
- 5/5
We love this hotel. It gives a feel of having your own apartment on the island. The rooms is are clean and comfortable. The staff is welcoming and accommodating. The location is perfect. Close walking distance to the beach, dining, shopping, as well as the famous Del across the street.
- 4/5
Hotel is nice hotel spanish built hotel. Hotel is older so somethings are not up to date. Hotel its self was fine stay at. Great hottub pool mexican restaurant in court yeard with fire pits. What kept my from raiting everything excellent was the lack of cleanliness people were experiencing. I was moved to 3 different rooms do t simpple issue with shower that should be an issue when staying at this of property. THey did make it right and gave a credit on part of my stay
- 5/5
Very nice! A+
- 3/5
The Bad: Had to switch rooms due to thin walls and noise next door. Some of the rooms are right by/over a Mexican restaurant that closes at 9pm but still noise from staff cleaning and prepping. Parking is a challenge if you don't want to pay $40/day for a garage.
- 1/5
Exposed wiring, broken portable air conditioner, very limited storage, dirty floors, dirty bedding. I cannot recommend this hotel.
- 4/5
they have a friendly and helpful staff
- 5/5
We enjoyed a wonderful stay at El Cordova. The entire property reminded me of a European Hotel with abundant charm and old world elegance
- 5/5
Perfect location! Close to beach, harbor and lots of dining options. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the large suite which exceeded our expectations in every way.
- 3/5
Building has charm but in need of renovations. Good bed and pillows.
- 1/5
it’s a shame the owners can’t maintain it properly
- 5/5
We had a great room right off the patio. Nice and quiet. Great air conditioning! Small kitchen, but perfect for our needs. Bathroom was a bit small, but sufficient. Right across the street from the Beach and the Del Coronado Hotel!!
- 4/5
This was a great place to stay with a wonderful location. Very vintage Hispanic team. Miguel’s restaurant which is basically inside the hotel is amazing. Right across from hotel del and right in orange ave. Rooms are a little dated
- 4/5
The new ownwership has let the planters goc the tub had water trapped beneath, the bathroom lights were poorly replaced with gaps in the drywall.. will not likely return .
- 4/5
We stayed for one night to be near family and enjoyed the location—Coronado is beautiful. There are plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance, and the beach is just a short walk away. The rooms were comfortable, and the service was friendly. Parking can be challenging, so plan ahead. Overall, it was a good stay, but the price felt high at over $400 for one night. I’d happily return if the rate were closer to $200.
- 3/5
Tooooo noisy
- 2/5
We booked a one bedroom king. The staff was very friendly and attentive the room itself needed some attention. We were aware that the hotel is older however multiple outlets did not work, there was almost zero counter space in the bathroom, making it not quite functional, the swamp cooler soaked the end of the mattress every day, and the shower drain was half screwed in and rusted (potentially causing harm). Other than the room condition the location was wonderful, about a 2-3 minute walk to the beach and right off Orange ave with plenty of shops and restaurants. Overall it was just an ok experience. I would recommend investing in a larger room.
- 5/5
Loved our stay at El Cordova Hotel! The on-site restaurant was super convenient, the whole place had a cozy, homey vibe, and we were just minutes from Coronado Beach. Excellent experience all around!
- 2/5
We have been staying at the El Cordova for decades - sometimes two and even three times per year. It has always felt like home. We knew the managers on a first name basis and could frequently get perks because of our loyalty. However, circumstances have changed over the last couple years. Managers seem to shift often and it is difficult to develop a connection. Our last visit was a disappointment. We reserved a deluxe suite and they "upgraded" us to a handicap room. The kitchen was barely a kitchen and the table that was crammed in there was not useful. They couldn't get us the coffee that was compatible with the maker in our room even though we were there 3 days. The WiFi was terrible - it kept dropping in and out. I tested the download speed to be 1 Mbps! We explained that we reserved a suite and they said the deluxe rooms are not suites in the traditional sense. They kept pointing to the word deluxe and we kept pointing to the word suite. There are many other options available for staying on Coronado Island - which we will be exploring in the future.
- 3/5
We stayed in the Casa Grande Suite for one night. The staff was friendly and the restaurant in the hotel was amazing! Unfortunately the shower in the room did not work at all (thankfully there was a separate claw foot tub, so we made due) and the air conditioning for the side of the suite that had the rooms did not work either.
- 5/5
The best thing about this hotel is it is winin walking distance of the Hotel del Mar. The bathrooms are tiny, but it is worth it for the room prices.
- 5/5
The pool was beautiful and the suite we stayed in was roomy, clean and we were able to use the fridge to store some food. Miguel’s Cocina serves delicious food at a very reasonable price. I enjoyed my stay here with the beautiful scenes on the tiles around the property. I felt like I had escaped to Spain. The location was great, close to shopping and the beach. A very walkable area. I would definite back to this hotel and the lovely area of Coronado. 💕
- 5/5
Met every need we had and more! Close to the beach and close to food and shops!
- 4/5
Only negative is parking. If poss - dont bring car to the area unless necessary. Can walk to pbeach, resaurants + shops
- 4/5
The hotel was in a great area, across the street from the beach. The bathroom was very small.
- 3/5
I was under the impression that this was a high end hotel due to the cost and photos. I was disappointed in the appearance of the room. Bedroom was tiny with door hitting into bed. Bathroom also tiny. Room was located in front corner of hotel. Street and pedestrian noise. Pool was nice and clean but little to no room around the pool. Restaurants kitchen door opened only 4 ft from swimming pool. There being a restaurant in the middle of the hotel felt odd. Having people dine right next to the pool felt strange. Good location but not a very nice hotel.
- 5/5
This is return visit for me, my father and sister. We used to stay here over 40 years ago. This is still an amaxing place. Staff super friendly, great location and nice spacious rooms. We love it and will always stay here.
- 2/5
Not worth the money. Very very loud location
- 2/5
The picture is not at all what it looks like. We were very disappointed. It’s old, no elevators and the stairs are so steep, it’s dangerous. You’re in the middle of a restaurant, absolutely not worth the $700 price tag for a weekend!
- 4/5
Nice place
- 3/5
The stay was mid
- 3/5
Good location, you can walk right to the beach in 3 minutes. Good price for the area. If you are a sound sleeper, this could be a nice hotel option. Because it's an older hotel the windows are not great at keeping the noise down and it's a very busy area. They did some vacuuming at 6 am which seems a little inconsiderate to me. The staff is very nice.
- 4/5
An unusual complex of buildings with rooms leading off the central courtyard which houses various independent small businesses, the hotel pool and Miguel’s restaurant. The reception staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our room was a one bedroom suite with separate living room, kitchen and dinning area. Surprisingly roomy and contained everything if you need. It is a good location for the shops and restaurants and 3 min walk to the beach
- 4/5
We always enjoy our stay. Rooms are in serious need of a rehab especially the bathrooms
- 2/5
noisy. unsafe stairs
- 4/5
A bit noisy. The view was of the roof of the restaurant. The room was small with a very big closet.
- 4/5
Very charming old Spanish style. Loved the ambiance and courtyard. Not for everyone but clean and well put together.
- 5/5
We enjoyed the history of the building and the Spanish style. The grounds were very lush. Our room was very comfortable and shopping was great.
- 5/5
I really liked how close to the beach it was. Miguels is one of our fav restaurants and is on premises. Parking was $40/night for a garage or you could opt for street parking. For a historic inn it was in pretty good shape and we really enjoyed our stay in the 2 bedroom unit
- 4/5
Our room was clean but the fixtures in the bathtub were very loose. At the prices they charge, housekeeping should be automatic and not upon request. Parking on the street was not convenient.
- 5/5
I love the charm of old buildings. This old mansion was built in 1902, and felt comfortable and homey. Rooms were clean and bed comfortable.
- 5/5
Staying at this hotel felt like being transported to a serene Spanish villa. It had that perfect balance of elegance and warmth that made it feel less like a hotel and more like a home away from home. The staff was also genuinely friendly and welcoming.
- 2/5
Is extremely small, no parking in the hotel, all there is a restaurant in the middle of the rooms and we could hear a lot of noise. For a little more you can stat at El coronado. Not recommended
- 3/5
The Cordova Hotel has a lot of charm and history—it’s over 100 years old and in a great location. The ambiance and architecture are lovely, and the staff was friendly. However, the building definitely shows its age. The bathroom, in particular, is in need of serious upgrades. I actually twisted my ankle getting out of the shower due to the outdated and unsafe design. While I appreciate the historic feel, basic safety and comfort should still be a priority. With a little maintenance, this place could be truly outstanding.
- 5/5
The perfect location, a very nice room and incredibly friendly staff. The gentleman that checked us in was extra helpful and welcoming. Thank you
- 5/5
Good stay
- 4/5
Staff were responsive to any issues.
- 5/5
I was there for a weekend getaway to my favorite island. First time at El Cordova, and was pleasantly surprised. James has exceptional customer services and went above and beyond. My room was superb! I felt at home. The location is perfect! It's easy to get everywhere!
- 5/5
Amazing staff, cute rooms and functional! Loved our stay
- 5/5
This place has so much character, everywhere you look there is something interesting to see and you really have to keep your eyes open. I think it honors the spirit of the original owners.
- 5/5
It's an older property and there isn't a lift.
- 5/5
The hotel has a lot of character and charm being an older building, and the room had everything I needed and was perfect for a solo traveler. The staff there and in the neighboring restaurants and businesses were wonderful, and the location was perfect for me- walkable to the beach and the other attractions. I enjoyed my stay!
- 5/5
Location was convenient to dining and shops. Miguel’s and Brigantine Seafood were on the same campus and offered good drinks and food. Excellent service too.
- 4/5
We love the Cordova and its accessibility to shopping, dining, and strolling along the beach. Parking is off-site, but free for first-come, first-served. We didn’t have trouble finding parking off the street for free but we did juggle with timing. Would definitely come back. It’s a bit dated but the location is unbeatable.
- 5/5
Beautiful property within walking distance to beach and restaurants.
- 3/5
The property is very close to the Del where my meeting was so easily walkable. It is a safe area with good local food/coffee. The paid parking was pretty close and convenient at the B of A parking lot ($40 a night). There were some flies and bugs in the room but this is a humid area (not bed bugs). The bed was comfortable. The room had a bit of a moldy smell but not bad. It was very easy to hear stomping foot steps of the people above us when they got back late. They did upgrade us to a suite which was nice of them. The front dest was nice on check in and they did hold our bags for us on the check out day. However, I did note that there often was no one manning the front desk. When we texted for a needed shower cap and to help with the microwave they were quite responsive. Overall an older property that could use some sprucing up but no major complaints...Just not great.
- 5/5
We loved staying at the El Cordova Hotel. The general manager greeted us on our first day. Everyone was friendly. The two-bedroom suite was perfect! We had a wonderful time, and the location is perfect for spending time on Coronado Island, where we were minutes away from everything we wanted to do.
- 1/5
I booked and prepaid weeks in advance for a visit to see a recovering family member. I confirmed a late check-in on the day of arrival, but when I showed up after midnight, I was told my reservation was canceled as a “no-show” and was asked to pay again for the same room. The staff was unhelpful and refused to even look up my reservation. Despite repeated attempts, I’ve received no refund or response. I would not trust this business.
- 4/5
Property was full of character and was surprisingly pretty big, the beach was super close it was just the smell of chemicals in the room that made It a a little uncomfortable at first but after airing out the room for bit it became Less noticeable, being that this was an older hotel you had to expect something right? Parking was a breeze as well! Would come back if I was just needing a place to crash
- 5/5
Wonderful!
- 5/5
Beautiful property and beautiful rooms. Two minute walk to ocean, restaurants, and shopping. Thank you.
- 4/5
Great location, you are 2 min walk from the beautiful beach and walking distance anywhere in the island with so many coffee shops restaurants etc around, it’s very old hotel but that give it a charm! The water in the sink and shower stinks and the cleaning could be better, we had a great time though and our flat had 2 bedroom and 3 bathroom so convenient for families
- 5/5
Location, Location, Location! Perfect for everything and anything you need while visiting the beach. We love it here!
- 4/5
Spacious rooms with a sitting area. Pool area was ok, nothing exciting for the kids, and no continental breakfasts in the morning.
- 2/5
Ice machine was broken, pool was out of order. There were so many mosquitos in the area that were making their way into our room through the window ac unit. We killed about 15 mosquitos and still ended up with bite marks in the morning. Very disappointing stay, especially for the price and in Coronado, Ca.
- 3/5
Excellent resturant attached to the property. Miguel’s. Extremely good food and waitstaff.
- 4/5
Great place!
- 5/5
Best sleep I've had in a hotel maybe ever. Mattress was perfect
- 5/5
My wife and I stayed at the hotel for over four weeks while in transition for an overseas deployment, and it truly felt like a home away from home. The location couldn't have been better—right in the heart of Coronado, within walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and local attractions. The staff and management were exceptionally friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with anything we needed during our extended stay. Their hospitality made a stressful time much more comfortable. We strongly recommend this hotel for both short and long stays. Thank you for the outstanding service!
- 3/5
But the location is very good.
- 5/5
2nd stay here, pleasant stay again. Will be back!
- 5/5
Staff was extremely responsive and helpful. The location is perfect—close to great restaurants and a block from the beach.we found parking on the street nearby. The property is historic and has a nice ambience. We will be back.
- 3/5
The property had a “charm” to it as others have stated. But, that also means it was old, and in disrepair. The bathroom is small (can’t close the door easily while in the bathroom, and there was a funky odor (maybe Febreeze used to cover up other smells). So, if romance is on your agenda, I would not recommend this hotel, unless this is your thing. Not bad pricing for the area, and its proximity to the beach. However, be aware that the parking on the adjacent street is 2 hours only, and the signs were not clearly lit at nighttime. The staff didn’t let us know, and the next day, we ended up with a $60 ticket. Also, we had to wait about 20 mins to check in because no one was at the front desk when we arrived.
- 2/5
For many years what I'm stay in this property (25 years) condition going down. AC wasn't work proper, battery in remote dead, trap in shower not fixed and when you step on going out, screen on window not fixed and going out and when wind knock to windows. All doors creaking etc. Probably no body care about in this property. They expect what people will pay for location. I'm was disappointment and leave property day before. And front desk was not show interest when I'm explain the reason what I'm leaving early. They not care about at all.
- 5/5
Great check in experience
- 5/5
Great place to stay - awesome location and street parking was super easy
- 5/5
No free parking for guests - it seemed like they had on site parking from description but it's $40 per night. Street parking is Free after 6 pm before 8 am.
- 3/5
Our favorite aspect of El Cordova was the location. Easy access to the beach and restaurants - just perfect. There was some confusion about our room when we checked in. We booked a Deluxe King through Expedia and were placed in an ADA. I wish the concierge would have explained this better to us, as we would have requested a different room. He seemed very confused during check in. We were very pleased to be provided a free appetizer from El Cordova at one of the adjoining restaurants. Bed was comfortable. We would attempt again.
- 5/5
Good location, restaurant on site.
- 4/5
Older property with great character. Clean. Unique Spanish charm. 2 bedroom suites available at great prices.
- 5/5
Great room
- 3/5
Loved the historic aspect of the hotel. The rooms are in need of some renovations however. We stayed in room 36. The size of the room was huge. The TV in the bedroom didn’t work, toilet roll holder was missing, and shelf in the bathroom was absent from the holder. The location was superb…right across from the Del Coronado and beach and walking distance to many restaurants and shops. Lively restaurant, Miguel’s on site for drinks and food. There was also a quaint coffee shop with the nicest woman and warmest smile! Parking may be difficult depending on time of day, but we seemed to not have a problem finding street parking during our weekend stay.
- 5/5
Location is beautiful and convenient for walking to any restaurants, shopping and the beach! The staff are friendly, welcoming, and helpful. This hotel is super Cute and has everything you need!
- 4/5
For the price its a. nice funky hotel with a lot history.
- 4/5
Old school hotel , great if you like character
- 5/5
Great centralized hotel across the street from hotel del and the ocean, the only downside was the steep staircase to the rooms and the bathroom was extremely small you could sit on the toilet and have the sink in your lap, also a very small shower Not tall or plus size friendly.
- 5/5
Great location. There is plenty of great restaurants amd bars within walking distance. Very safe area. It is located right across the street from Hotel Del Coronado!
- 4/5
Excellent location and value.
- 4/5
Excellent location! Near shop’s & restaurants and on the bus line. Cute apartment with kitchen and living room! King bed was really nice. Older unit was charming, but had some quirks. Bath/shower was tricky to use. No handles on the kitchen cabinets made them hard to open. No paper towels, sustainable but not that convenient. Could hear the neighbors above pretty clearly. I would recommend and stay there again.
- 5/5
Charming and beautiful in lovely historical district
- 5/5
It was truly an amazing experience. Love the hotel and how everything was in walking distance
- 5/5
What's not to like. Everything was great. We didn't rent a car - no need because everything is flat and accessible.
- 3/5
The room I stayed in was one that connected to the next room. The only thing that separated the rooms was a simple chain on the door. The deadbolt was not locked and I could hear everything the woman in the next room said and did as I'm sure she could hear me. There was a broken shelf in the bathroom and very little counter space for toiletries. Some of the towels also had hair on them from previous guests. They were clean, but someone else's hair was stuck to the towels. I would have expected some bottled water or something in the room given the cost of the hotel per night. It came with a fridge and microwave, both of which were clean. The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were lumpy making it difficult to get to sleep.
- 5/5
Nice attendant when I got in. Complimentary appy at Miguel's was put to awesome use that night (HUGE portions there, I was nuked). Solid rooms, cute ambience and vibe. Right in the thick of the tourist-y bits of Coronado, but hey, that's what we're here for. You can practically throw a rock to the water.
- 1/5
Our room had an outside entrance, up a flight of stairs, with bar located at bottom of stairs which was very loud in the room. Bar did shut down after 10pm. Room smelled very strongly of must/mold. Tiny bathroom, sink hardly drained and came close to spill over while washing hands. Housekeeping vacuumed and cleaned the stairs outside the rooms at 7:30am for 20 minutes. I don’t recommend this hotel.
- 1/5
Old, smelly , not comfortable beds
- 1/5
First of all one car drop off and a lot of traffic going and coming. No one to help you on the curb side you need to go and get the cart for your luggage or wait for one to be available. It’s a very old Hotel that’s been a little up to date. It’s a two level hotel and if your luck you will have a room down stairs. That we didn’t no one will help you to your room and there is no elevator. No wheelchair access and the path way are very narrow. They share the property with a restaurant Miguel’s Mexican food so you will always smell the cooking oils around the property. Our room had a king size bed but you didn’t have room for nothing else. No refrigerator and we took some cold meats and wine to have as we get ready for our party we will attend. We had to throw everything away. There was no room to get ready for two persons as I wanted to put on my makeup and not enough light. The bathroom was so small and the sink you had to wash one hand a time it was like a bird bath. I was very upset about this hotel I will not return. So please read review before reserving.
- 5/5
We enjoyed the 1 bedroom suite very much but it requires climbing stairs. FYI
- 5/5
Nice location
- 3/5
Room was small and bathroom wasn't flow friendly... the layout was akward.
- 5/5
This is a perfect location. The space was a smidge tight for our family of 4 but the location was worth it. We’d definitely stay again.
- 3/5
Street parking is difficult. Bathroom is very small. Stairs are very steep. Located across the street from the Hotel Del . Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Some street noise.
- 4/5
Upon my evening arrival I rang the bell for the front desk employee, who told me he was the only person on duty and was at lunch. He told me to wait 27 minutes until he finished lunch to check in. Other than that the place was excellent. Many restaurants very close by.
- 4/5
Very nice and quaint hotel, and convenient to all the shops, restaurants and the beach. Sadly had to give up our initial room overlooking the courtyard because of a faulty door lock. Hotel should have fixed it then put us back in our original room. Instead they downgraded us to a smaller room on the back side facing alley, which noisy trash trucks and large delivery trucks wake you up at and the street lights never allow for a dark room. Also noticed the carpets were filthy. I couldn’t figure out why the bottom of my husbands feet and my socks were discolored! Overall, our stay was pleasant.
- 3/5
It is a nice hotel but there was a lot of noise from the restaurant Miguels.
- 3/5
Tv's did not work. They moved our room and tv only got 2 channels. Telephone did not work to call front desk
- 5/5
Great location. Great experience.
- 5/5
We were very happy with the professional staff and accommodations for our quick getaway to Coronado Island. James especially was so helpful and kind. So many things are in walking distance, including the Del. We will be back!
- 4/5
Overall a nice stay with friendly staff.
- 4/5
Great stay
- 4/5
This place is cute and cozy. Bathrooms are in bad condition though.
- 5/5
Great restaurants close by. Highly recommend The Henry for breakfast.
- 3/5
Dated hotel, great location. Very walkable few blocks to the beaches. Great dining options in the area. Pool was freezing cold and hot tub was cold as the pool. Staff was non existence. Beautiful open concept hotel with resturants on site BUT zero security. Anyone off the street is walking around common areas because of stores and shops .over-all i would stay again for convenience .
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, more like a boutique hotel with a Spanish theme, in the perfect location. The room was like a small apartment, full kitchen, beautiful living room with view over looking an inner courtyard. We will be going back!
- 5/5
My stay at the El Cordova Hotel on Coronado Island was absolutely wonderful! This gorgeous boutique hotel, perfectly positioned across from the iconic Hotel del Coronado and stunning Coronado Beach, is a true gem. The villa-style architecture and historic Mexican charm create an unforgettable atmosphere. Our small suite was spacious, beautifully appointed, and provided all the comforts we needed. The charming courtyard, complete with a cozy fire pit, was perfect for chilly evenings, while the pool and hot tub were just right for relaxation. With fantastic restaurants and hidden shops only steps away, everything was incredibly convenient. I can’t wait to return and highly recommend this delightful hotel!
- 2/5
Very much a niche property. No elevator, many steps. Not good for a senior woman with 2 weeks worth of luggage. Room didn't feel totally clean. Parking was an extra cost and a fairly long hike from the hotel. Staff was moderately helpful.
- 5/5
The room smelled musty and there was no available parking
- 4/5
Great little hotel. Need better lighting in room and shelves in bathroom for personal items since there is no counter space.
- 5/5
Loved loved this little Mexican village town feel hotel! Only complaint was water took 15 minutes to warm… we will be back!
- 4/5
Really fun place. Needs some updates to rooms and pool/hot tub but overall nice
- 5/5
Love Coronado always go for any celebrations
- 4/5
it was pleasant
- 5/5
The El Cordova is one of my go-to Hotels in Coronado. I absolutely love the character and charm! Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, staff is always hospitable and the location is perfect! Close to the beach, the Del Coronado, restaurants & shopping! Love, Love, Love!
- 4/5
Parking is not ideal but hotel experience was great
- 5/5
Our 8th stay here was extremely pleasant. Javier at the front desk was very helpful; got us into the room we requested and made sure we were able to get a parking pass. This is the best place to stay on the island and we’ll be staying there until again soon.
- 1/5
Not what not what I expected. Had to carry bags up 15 steps to get to a room that smelled awful.
- 5/5
Very nice property.
- 5/5
The room was very nice but parking was a problem
- 5/5
Beautiful stay with amenities at a walkable distance
- 4/5
Motel like rooms, but very convenient location.
- 5/5
Perfect spot, location and cost
- 3/5
Overall, our experience was okay but I would not stay here again. The location is great, however we did have a hard time with parking. When checking in, we asked where we were able to leave the car and they told us that the structure they use is fully booked and that we would have to resort to street parking and be wary of time-restricted zones. Thankfully, we were able to find a spot nearby but I could imagine that this would be an inconvenience to others. The room was nice and clean, but the towel that I used to shower that night had a lot of hairs stuck on it from someone who had previously used it that got stuck to my body. That’s just gross. Finally, the morning of checkout came and we decided to pack our stuff and move it to the car and go out for breakfast but then later return to freshen up. When we returned before checkout time, housekeeping had already started cleaning up our room even though we had not even checked out yet. How does this happen? When we went to the front desk to inform them, all we got was a “oh that’s so weird, I’m sorry!” Okay?? I’m sure others experiences were better than ours but I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone I know.
- 4/5
Property was clean and central located: restaurants, coffee, beach. Even has a restaurant on site! Room was clean, but little noise in morning! All in all great accommodation and location for the price!
- 5/5
Cool spot. I enjoyed them texting to see how we were doing however when I arrived the front desk was missing for about 20 minutes which kinda sucked but I get it they have work to do.
- 4/5
Toilet tank was not work proper. Water was leaking all the time and make noise. And toilet wasn’t enker and move. We make request to fix and no body visit 5 days. We leave the unit with problem.
- 5/5
Close to the beach
- 5/5
Nice quiet hotel at night. Staff helped get our luggage to the room upstairs which was appreciated since I was traveling with a mobility challenged friend. They also accommodated an hour later checkout due to our flight time today. I would come back to stay here again.
- 5/5
Great location across the street from Hotel Del and the Boathouse. VERY walkable to beach, dining and shopping. Room was nice, slightly dated but minimal. Staff is incredibke and daily breakfast buffet abd hot coffe included in resort fee was very nice. Good food, eggs, sausage, potatoes, bagels, etc...Good coffee, tea, juices also included. If are not familiar with the island you shoukd rent a golf cart and cruise around. Be sure to go to east end of Orange Ave and view the Downtown SD skyline from across the water...stunning night views...Enjoy Coronado...very beautiful place we have been going for years.
- 5/5
character of the rooms… we will definitely come back!
- 2/5
Not clean. Leaks in room. Cockroaches in bathroom.
- 3/5
The hotel is beautiful and conveniently located. Unfortunately, it's also very noisy due to the outdoor Mexican restaurant in the center of the hotel, and if you were provided a room close to it, the noise travels up to your room. The street below the window is also very noisy. The most concerning problem was that there was no parking on the premises. We had to pay $40 extra to park in a garage about two blocks away!
