Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were beautiful and clean. The location was sketchy, but once inside it was decent. Just didn't like the back alley behind an open parking lot deal.

Hotel was very pretty. The breakfast was fantastic with friendly helpers but the front desk staff, both night and day, were a little rude and it seemed to bother them if you asked a question. The biggest problem was our toilet. Every time the room close to us flushed if we happened to be on ours we got a burst of water in our bottom. Not a good feeling 😕 I don't think we will be staying there again.

Congaree is a pretty small park so after a morning hike and no sleep, I was completely exhausted but still waiting for my ‘stay’ to start. They were able to get me in a room a couple hours before check in so I didn’t have to sleep in my car. Hotel is well maintained and it’s next to a lot of bars and restaurants.

Hampton Inn is consistently good. Breakfast is always good. This was no exception. I presented my Hilton Honors membership number. The staff would not give any Hilton Honors points because I used Booking to reserve the room.

Parking is safe and easy but very expensive. Breakfast was fresh and good selection. Our room didn't have any windows, just a brick wall.

It was close to where we needed to be. So we just parked our vehicle and everything was in walking distance You have to pay for parking which I didnt see anything disclosed about that. We got were able to get free parking because our room wasnt ready until after 5pm because they were very short staff. And since it was just finished when we came back from getting a bite to eat, it smelled strongly of bleach.

About an hour after checking in, a custodian entered my room asking if i had clean towels. Floor was sticky. Hall had a mildew smell.

The location was so convenient. Steps from the convention center with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. We stayed during a convention weekend. The hotel was full. I was impressed by how caring and attentive the staff were with so many guests there. Shaugnessy in particular was wonderful: proactive, responsive and always cheerful. Would definitely return.

I stayed on the bottom floor on the street side. The road traffic was loud and Columbia is a college town so I had people partying right outside the room. I would stay again just I’ll request a room higher up and facing the quiet parking lot

The location was right in the middle of everything. We walked across the street for an amazing dinner then strolled around and found a great dessert cafe. Too many unique choices for dining. The hotel is clean, friendly and comfortable all around. The rooms are very roomy and exceptionally clean. I always stay at hotels that offer breakfast and this one did not disappoint. The variety of offerings included fresh cut fruits, omelets, hot cereals and our favorite waffle station. This place had regular waffles and blueberry. Coffees were good too We will be back!

Front desk staff was great, wonderful to be able to walk to shops and dinner, beds were sooo comfortable! Downsides were long waits for the elevator because one was broken and the street noise was quite loud at night.

The hotel is conveniently located to several restaurants and all of downtown Columbia. Felt the area was very safe. Room was clean and very quiet with plenty of space. Shower was spacious with good water pressure. Parking was free which is a nice treat compared to most hotels in Columbia. Free breakfast was good for a quick bite.

Check in was great friendly staff. Very clean common area and clean room. Bed closest to a/c squeaks every time you turn over. Room 418. Only ate breakfast one day as our stay was overnight. I really hate to say, but breakfast sucked. No eggs. Only meat option was chicken sausage no orange juice at all

Trying to get someone at Expedia to help me with a change in the reservation was extremely frustrating. There is not a customer service number to call and the automated responses could not help me. Tried to deal with the hotel directly but they could not help since I booked with Expedia. Will not bookwith Expedia again.

The room was too dark. There are only lights in the bathroom and walk way. I was told room service could only be done in the morning every other day and that I couldn’t have my room cleaned during my short stay despite expensive cost of the trip.

There is not nearly enough parking at this hotel, especially in times of high volume. Overflow parking is about 2 blocks away, not great when you are having to park there late at night.

Comfortable hotel within walking distance to main attractions in downtown Columbia and in a wonderful location in the Vista. Staff was very friendly, room was clean. Would stay again.

Under construction so very noisy and could not access lobby for work. Only one elevator in service. No notice this location inder construction when booking. Breakfast was sad. Decided to walk to eat elsewhere.

Our stay at this property was not great. The AC did not work in our room. They sent a maintenance person to repair it & the air went out a second time in a matter of 15 minutes. From that point, they said they would need to replace the entire unit, but did not offer to move us. After waiting over 30 minutes for the repair, we asked for a room change. While they did move us, they did not offer to help us transfer rooms or bring us a new room key. The WiFi was down & the front desk told us that they couldn’t do anything about it. The TV did not work properly either. You had to be standing on top of it to change the channels. The cleanliness of the room was also an issue with some mold on the shower door and dried food on the inside top of the ice bucket. The lobby was completely torn up due to renovations and only one of two elevators were working and it was very sketchy. The stairs were out of service, so the elevator was the only option to reach the room. The breakfast area was located in the middle of the construction zone. The waffle maker was not working properly and other food items were poorly stocked. We did not feel comfortable dining in the hotel, so went elsewhere for breakfast. Lastly, the employees were minimally responsive. We found one employee sitting behind the front desk playing on his phone during the breakfast rush. We usually book at Hampton Inn and this was the worst experience we’ve ever had.

The staff are super friendly and excellent at their jobs in hospitality. We loved our stay.

Had to request room service multiple times. We had an extended stay and it was very busy. It was pretty loud in the evenings as cars were racing on the street outside our window. Should have requested a different room. It was centrally located and the staff was very warm and professional.

Staff was not very accommodating and rushed me thru my check in. The pool is under construction!!!!! I had no idea and the entrance has been rerouted through a long narrow corridor that barely 2 people could fit! The line for free breakfast was insane and there is nowhere to sit. Will not be back!

This property was undergoing renovations. I was not notified of this until check-in. Since renovations were underway, the swimming pool was down. The only reason I chose this hampton inn was the swimming pool advertised at booking

Website stated a pool and fitness center. Neither were opened because of renovations. Gum on the floor. Bathroom hand towel had a stain on it. One elevator working. No vending machine on our floor even though it stated it.

This hotel is being renovated. The front lobby was closed so we had to use a side entrance that had a table set up in a narrow hallway as a make shift front desk. The hotel is very dirty. Not sure if it’s due to the construction but the hallways and everything need a deep clean. When we walked into our room the floor was sticky and my shoes were sticking as I walked. I could also see spills and crumbs. I asked that the laminate part of the floor be cleaned again and someone came and quickly went over it. It was still very dirty so I went over it with 4-5 Clorox wipes. They turned black from the amount of dirt that was on the floor. The positives and reason for 2 stars is the staff was very nice and the breakfast was good. Also a good location and easy drive to the university and there are lots of restaurants within walking distance.

Check in was delayed by 2 hours and 15 minutes with no advance notice. That’s unacceptable and I should be compensated.

The Hampton Inn staff has always gone above and beyond for the guests. This was even more evident on my most recent stay. There is massive construction in the lobby and the "front desk" staff was helpful, generous and kind even in their not ideal work environment

We had a great stay. We stayed in 4 different hotels on this 7 night trip and this was the best one by far. Very clean lots of room and comfortable.

This hotel is under construction. It’s a mess and it’s not very clean.

They are renovating the hotel and moved the front desk to a hallway and our room was accross from the front desk and it was very mid.

Property is undergoing renovation so “front desk” is a small table set up at a side entrance. Room was super clean and bed was comfortable. A good bit of traffic noise from main road. The exercise facility, if you’re so inclined, is available at a neighboring property down the road. Breakfast was included and decent. Area very walkable and safe.

I was very upset as it was advertised by Expedia that there was a gym, laundry, and a pool. Both gym and pool were closed and laundry service was send out for a fee. Very dissatisfied and was told by the hotel don’t book through Expedia and I will not be doing that again. They said it was expedias fault they falsely advertised. I would love for someone to reach out and rectify the problem I had.

Hotel lobby is under renovation, but staff did an excellent job working around it and making guests comfortable. Rooms have been recently renovated and are very comfortable and in great condition. Staff is friendly and location is central to restaurants and campus events

Breakfast had many choices and all were tasty. Area around hotel had numerous dining choices. Hotel is under construction thus halls and entry way were chaotic. Paid parking is ridiculous based on construction and availability of parking in the immediate area.

The entire hotel rooms were all updated but the shower head were never updated. Barely any water coming out of them and barely any pressure. Please update the shower heads

Room was not ready at 3PM check-in time. We were forced to sit in the dining room, next to the kitchen that was undergoing LOUD renovations. We had to change in the public restrooms for our 4PM departure for a dinner event. We will NOT use a Hampton Inn again.

I always enjoy the convenience of this hotel when I am attending a conference at the Convention center.

Convenience

I hit my leg on the protruding bed iron because the box was was smaller than the mattress. If not corrected, someone can get seriously injured.

This hotel is located in a very convenient location with many dining and shopping options within easy walking distance. The front desk staff was outstanding (kudos to Marta!) and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed from check-in to check-out. Our only hiccup was that the water pressure in the shower was very low and came out almost as a soft sprinkle instead of a spray (despite turning the showerhead to different options), and the overhead nozzle didn't operate - only the hand-held wand worked (which was probably because it was an accessible-type room, the only type room available when we reserved). Marta did offer to have maintenance come by and check it out but we declined - I believe not much if anything can be done about the water pressure in that one specific room. Overall, an excellent stay and we'd definitely stay there again.
