This Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Columbia Downtown Columbia Downtown hotel is 5 minutes’ drive from Riverbanks Zoo and the Carolina Coliseum event center. It features spacious rooms with a flat-screen cable TV and serves a daily buffet breakfast. A microwave, mini-fridge and coffee-making facilities are standard in each modern room at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites Columbia-Downtown. All rooms include free Wi-Fi and are warmly decorated with bold colors and dark wood furniture. Free access to the gym and outdoor pool is provided to all guests of the Columbia Holiday Inn Express. A 24/7 snack shop and a business center are also available. We are not the holiday inn express. We do not have a pool. We do not offer housekeeping service daily, and we do not offer free parking The Columbia Art Museum is 1 mile from the hotel. The Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center is a 5 minutes’ drive away.

    The location was close to USC and Five Points which was what we needed. We often stay at Fairfield and this one fell short. The staff was poorly trained and somewhat surly upon check-in. When we asked if we could be located in a different room due to noise (before we settled in), they denied us saying they were full which didn’t appear to be true. The next morning, someone spilled a good deal of liquid across the elevator floor (a slip hazard), and the front desk said they’d take care of it when housekeeping arrived later. This is not a priority? The room looked worn with punctures in the leather arm chair (the sharp object under the desk being another hazard for guests). The breakfast was minimal, but okay. It was disappointing that they didn’t have coffee or tea available in the afternoon and evening, which we’ve normally gotten at other Fairfield hotels. The rooms need better soundproofing. We could see daylight under the door to the hallway, and we were kept up in the evening by the noise of trucks revving engines outside our window on the busy highway. We won’t be returning to that location in Columbia and hope to be reassured of the quality and value if we ever choose another Fairfield by Marriott somewhere else.

    Breakfast was hot, plentiful, tasted good and had good availability times. The room was clean and had plenty of counter space, a microwave, a desk, good closet space. Tv and streaming options were good. The room was not ready on time. 4 hours later when I did check in (after the event I arrived in town for ended) I was told other rooms had still not been cleaned and people were being turned away. It took me a LONG time to figure out how to turn the bedside lamps off (they were on when I arrived in the room). It was a very discrete switch which could have been noted by a bedside card so I didnt waste 10 min feeling like an idiot who couldnt turn off a lamp.

    Check-in was at 3:00. No room ready until 4:00. Shower door wouldn't close, I had to wedge a washcloth into the door track to keep it closed. At breakfast, there were no knifes or salt packets 2 days in a row. Staff was not as helpful as we would've liked.

    LOUD LOUD LOUD!! If you have no other choice but to stay here, bring noise cancelling headphone or really good earplugs. The street noise was terrible, nobody got any sleep due to the motorcycles, loud trucks, cops and ambulance sirens all night long. Definitely not worth what we paid for. AC unit ran all night long on top of that and it was only set to 70 degrees. TV volume was quiet even when adjust to 100!! Staff was nice and food was ok. But not worth it overall.

    It was close to where I needed to be. The front desk clerk when I arrived was very nice. Nothing in the room worked other than the TV. The ice machine doesn't exist. There we exposed wires in the closet. Capped off but still just hanging which isn't great.

    I do not eat breakfast. I am traveling and want to get on the road Toilet had left over excrement, shower had mold where wall met floor. Outside trash overflowed the container. This was a Marriott disappointment. Two bottles of water and two pints of ice cream $ 40.00

    Not too happy. The maid service never showed up on Saturday. I left my room at 10am and got back at 3pm no service. I also am very disappointed I had to pay for parking. In everything I read it said self park. Self park does not mean $10 a night! Overall ok but very disappointed.

The breakfast was up kept well a lot of options and the area to eight was very nice with TVs and a lot of tables even had an outside area that was very nice as well and was clean. Now, however, for my room, it wasn’t as clean. There was stains on the walls the floor was dirty still. The sheets had some stains. So I know that room wasn’t actually clean properly. Overall, it was a great stay apart from those things I debated on bringing it up to the front desk, person and fussing about it, but I was only staying the one night and just decided to buy my own cleaning products while they’re cleaning it up a little bit. I will say one of our TVs in the room didn’t work properly. Also, the elevator was very loud and kind of sketchy.

    Location was good, staff was relatively helpful Never in my life have a stayed at a hotel that charged for parking ESPECIALLY when they have their own whole parking lot. Our room key didn’t work getting us into the room so we had to go back downstairs TWICE bc it didn’t work again when they “fixed” it - we ended up getting a new room. And then the TV remote in the room didn’t even work.

    Room and hotel floors were a bit out dated and worn but the lobby was nice. They do charge for self parking, which wasn’t mentioned until I went to check in. Overall was okay for a place to stay but the rate should have been for a nicer hotel.

    The hotel is nice. I was double charged for the room, once on Booking, and when I got to the hotel. Getting assistance from management was not easy. When they finally decided to issue a refund, they kept part of it for parking. If I stayed 1 night and parking is $10.00. You gave me back 189.00 out of 210.00, 20 days after my stay. I've stayed at the one in Harbison, and it was much better. Management here said all properties are different. THAT WAS THE FIRST TRUTH TOLD.

The room definitely showed signs of the previous guests, like a half-empty Diet Coke in the fridge and a stain on the duvet cover. No one came to change out towels on Day 2 and the shower door leaked so we had a lot of wet towels. The fitness center's temperature was 80 degrees! Usually there's coffee all day, but not at this location. On the web, it showed cornhole boards in the courtyard, but there were none. And finally, the hotel is on a major roadway, not much around within safe walking distance, and constant cars made it loud--not much they could with that, but it's worth mentioning.

    I was reassigned rooms due to cleanliness issues with both rooms twice. The third room was not that good either. I just settled for that room because I was frustrated at that point. This hotels needs to have a full renovation.

    I was reassigned rooms due to cleanliness issues with both rooms twice. The third room was not that good either. I just settled for that room because I was frustrated at that point. This hotels needs to have a full renovation.

    Great location. Front desk staff very friendly. Road noise is pretty loud. I requested a room not on the highway side but they could not honor request. Housekeeping is awful. Room was ok but bathroom not great. Other people’s food in refrigerator, Hair in shower, dirty floor, something all down the front of vanity I’m hoping was just dark make-up. No ventilation so it steams up even with a cold shower. You have to request housekeeping, which I did and still had to go to the front desk for towels and washcloths. One of the days the beds were half made 1/2 of our dirty towels left and no clean towels.

    We arrived on Wednesday, August 6 early and we try to see if we maybe could’ve checked in the front lady told us that we couldn’t because there was no rooms available. The parking lot was empty probably at most five cars so I just didn’t understand, that’s fine we left and came back About four hours later. The second person at the front desk was really nice and accommodate us on all the issues we had. with the first room where the AC unit was located had a puddle of water so they switches to a second room and the second room The bathroom sink was clogged and when we reported it there was no Maintenance personnel available. The room was muggy. The floor felt sticky and dirty. And there was also a crack on the shower wall. Unfortunately I didn’t capture the gentleman‘s name. He was extremely nice and the cleaning lady was also very nice and Ava the last person we talk to. She was extremely helpful very nice and polite, but the first lady in the front was not very nice or accommodating.

    Staff was average. Property was very clean. Bed was comfy. AC worked great. The biggest issue was how noisy the main road is next to the building and it’s literally right on that road. If your room faces that side then the loud cars and trucks might disturb you. That’s the only reason I won’t go back.

We said we would take any room, but the clerk said because we booked on Orbitz she could only giver us the same type of room we had booked. At 11:30 at night we did not appreciate the extra half hour delay in getting to sleep.

    The hotel itself was good. In the room the bathroom wasn't that clean. There was hair in the shower on the walls and a piece of hair stuck in the shower door, which is still there! The sink had hair on it and the water pressure isnt great. We had to buy our own cleaner to clean the bathrrom before using it. The water runs very low in the sink. Other then that its ok!!

    I booked a room with two Queen beds and was given a room with a Queen bed and a pull out couch. I had to sleep on the pull out couch and it was terrible. The hotel said they had no other rooms after making this mistake when we checked in, but the next morning the gentleman checking us out said there was rooms and they could have just given us two separate rooms.

    I enjoyed staying but I didn’t have any hot water coming out the shower! The warm was at best warm but the water coming out of the sink was very hot!! They came and did something but it wasn’t up to my standard of hot like the sink. And why was I charged to park? That’s a turn off for me never coming back to this property. I canceled a room around the corner because of the cheaper rate but parking was free. I shouldn’t have to pay for parking while paying to stay at a hotel. Add the price of parking into the room rates!!!! This way I don’t feel like I’m being nickel and dimed to death!!! Room was nice tho!!

    The property was clean enough and smelled nice upon arrival. The tiles in the bathroom had separated in some areas and seemed not so clean in between. There was a hair on the towels as well. I wasn’t expecting to pay $10 for parking. I have never had to pay to park anywhere I have ever stayed. Where does that $ go? I could maybe understand if the parking was in a parking deck not attached to the hotel but this was a parking lot on the hotel property that’s not even monitored by security.

    The check in process took about 15 minutes (there was a line since it was the Friday before Thanksgiving and location is near the college football stadium.) They were polite, punctual, and very through with explaining the amenities and how to get to our rooms. We came for the night for the Shaboozey/Ernest/Jelly Roll concert as a family of 6. Both our rooms were clean, well stocked, and comforting. The best part of the whole stay on the property was the house keeper!!! We were on the fourth floor and as soon as she saw us walking into our rooms, she greeted us, let us know her title, as well as extending the offer of help if we needed anything at all to let her know. She truly made the stay that much better just by making sure we knew she was there for whatever we may need. We made sure to leave her a wonderful tip and little note. We appreciate her, and the rest of the staff, for her wonderful hospitality and wish them the best with their futures! Will definitely recommend them and stay anytime we’re back in the area!

    Lazy staff and poor conditions/amenities. Our room wasn’t ready at 5:30pm (2.5 hours after check in) bc the staff didn’t update the room cleaning in their computer system. The next morning around 7am, we were woken up by not one but two fire alarms bc the kitchen staff burned food. On the second morning, there was no hot water. Multiple people called the front desk and were told that there was nothing wrong with the water, and the reason why there was none is because the hotel was at full capacity and it was too many people showering at once. I’ll never stay at this low rate hotel again. Marriott has gone down hill anyway.

    Some things were great and other not so much. The hotel appeared clean except for Ceiling in lobby appears very worn with possible water damage/mold and the carpets were so dirty in the hallways. breakfast was lacking. No fresh fruit and the waffle maker was not working. The overall selection was very limited. Coffee ran out.
