Reviews
The hotel reviews are overwhelmingly negative, with guests citing numerous issues related to cleanliness, maintenance, and staff unavailability. Many guests felt misled by the hotel's description and expressed disappointment with their stay.
- Clean facilities in some rooms
- Helpful staff when present
- Lack of cleanliness and maintenance
- Unavailability of staff, particularly during late hours
- 2/5
But you look out the window or come through the front door and the trash cans are running over. Not a good look.
- 5/5
Warm, welcoming staff and comfortable accommodations. Looking forward to my next visit at this property. The staff truly cares about their guests.
- 1/5
Front desk is shut down until 9am and it not reachable for towels, key issues, etc. Rooms need updating.
- 3/5
room was servicable and clean. and the water was hot. Bed was uncomfortable. Renovation is probably overdue for facilities.
- 2.5/5
Passable
- 2/5
The front desk staff was wonderful. However, if you need to check in late or want a personal check out in the morning, this is not the hotel for you. There is no one staffing the front desk after 10 p.m. and no one there when we checked out just before 8 a.m. on a Saturday. The elevator was clean. That is the nicest thing I can say about the hotel. We were traveling as a family of six and needed a hotel on very short notice, and this was one of the only options. If you have another option, I suggest you pursue it.
- 2/5
Not welcoming, smelly, and a bit scary as a single traveler. I wouldn’t stay there again.
- 4/5
Clean room, comfortable bed. All in all pretty good for the price.
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly and helpful staff, everything working wonderful
- 3/5
This was an entirely different hotel from when I last stayed...We were safe and not bothered by anyone, but transients (drugs) are definitely housed here. The water and water pressure were great -- but the rooms do not have dishes, coffee makers, nor cookery, and they use too! This location is definitely neglected because of the new location across the highway..

Nothing The building smelled like cigarette smoke! The bathtub and sink was dirty. The didn't not take the time to try to resolve my issues. He stated that the lobby was closing and I needed to contact Booking.com if I needed to book somewhere else. I was so dissatisfied with his attitude. I didn't stay at Extended Stay. I had to find another place to stay.

no usb chargers, small tv, but... corner room was quiet which I thought was unusual.
- 1/5
Awful
- 2/5
Nothing like the picture. The rooms were old and outdated. The bathtub had dirt stains all over. I was bitten by something while in that room. The front desk closed at 10pm, so if anyone in the hotel has an emergency after 10pm....good luck! We left early as the hotel and room didnt meet my expectation.
- 4/5
Kind office staff
- 2/5
Elevator not working. I wasn’t told this or I wouldn’t have checked in.
- 3/5
Literally no amenities kitchen with no utensils, pots pans, even though the signs say fully equipped kitchen, the toilet leaked shower leaked had to plunge the toilet when we plunged the toilet was loose. guests working on their car in the parking lot car parts laying on the ground one vehicle had four flat tires
- 3/5
This hotel is overpriced I do not recommend it. You have to pay extra for Internet access, towels, and they only do housekeeping every 8 days. It is unaceptable.
- 1/5
The overall property looked run down and poorly maintained. The rooms are not very clean, stains on most walls and headboards. Our room did not have a working toilet and there was a whole in the floor. The worker was overwhelmed because she was dealing with other complaints. One woman had to sweep her own room. When I brought to her attention about the toilet she gave me a plunger and then if that didn’t work then she would have to contact a manger. We did get moved to a cleaner and more functional room. One of the blankets had major red stains and we couldn’t exchange it because by the time we noticed it as after 10 and there is no one to help you. There are a lot of poor patch jobs and missing places in the carpet. Would not say here again.
- 3/5
Came for a family birthday party. Hallways and rooms smelled like mold and mildew and smoke.
- 1/5
There were problems with the showerhead and the button to activate it, the closet rails were coming off the floor, and the towel shelf was loose and nearly falling off the wall. The bed had a noticeable dent in it that made it uncomfortable to sleep on. There was also water leakage from another room’s shower that wasn’t cleaned up quickly enough and left water standing for too long. The team on-site did their best, but the room really needs repairs. With some renovations, this hotel could be a great option.
- 1/5
Awful! I was expecting bare bones, but this place was the worst. No service after 10 pm. They will only help you check in or if your key doesn’t work. We had 3 people. I was told we had to wait until morning to get bedding for the sofa bed. Evidently you need to request bedding when you check in. I was told there was nothing that could be done by the answering service (front desk completely shut down). Room itself was awful. The property has not been mayand is dirty and run down. It cots $1 to call front desk from room phone. Towel rack fell down when we hung a towel on it. Room smelled of odd chemicals

Wish at least coffee would have been available in the morning.

Definitely would not recommend.

Condtion of the room was awful.customer service is not good. Need to train your staff to be respectful to their customer. The air condtioner did not work, I had a hard time sleeping it was so hot.

The room was not cleaned, the cabinets in the room were rusted and chipped. The bedding had black spots on the sheets. There was red hair under my pillow which my mother or myself dont have red hair. I had my dogs there and the location has fleas i found a couple on my dogs body. I asked for additional towls and was told I had to pay $1.75 for extra towls. The manager at the front desk was very rude and would not issue a full refund. I am very unhappy with my stay & will never book there again!
- 5/5
Good!
- 5/5
All good, just no boil water for my cup noodles.
- 1/5
This is not a hotel, people live here and it’s very weird. I’ve had to stay here twice for work and both times I was placed in the same dirty room with the same stains and smells. There are pets and I have watched as one of the animals lift its leg to pee on the wall in the hall. The owner did nothing but continue walking. There are nothing but weird smells coming from every room as people are allowed to cook in these rooms. I don’t ever plan on going back nor do I recommend this hotel to anyone. It should be removed from this site as it definitely doesn’t meet the requirements to even be listed as a hotel.

At check in the instructions to contact the front desk which was closed were not working. The front desk clerk was nice. The toilet was broken and although originally offered a different room, we were then told they were sold out. They eventually allowed us to use the staff only bathroom. The pull out sofa had no linens and the mattress was disgusting and extremely worn out. There were zero amenities except two plastic cups. The room was filthy and we all left with bug bites. There was no breakfast as advertised and we were told the front desk didn't open until 10am. The instructions to turn the key back in for the bathroom were incorrect and I was told to leave the key in our room as there was no one from the staff on property yet. I then got a call a hour or so later to say I didn't leave them the key and I needed to return it immediately. There was no communication apparently between staff. I anticipate a full refund as that's what the front desk girl offered.
- 2/5
This property is like a glass of lukewarm water when you want an icy cold Coke.
- 5/5
I really like Ms Sophia, very helpful, convenient and beautiful
- 2/5
No breakfast served, no coffee, Nothing in cupboards in kitchen, no iron/ironing board, unsafe feeling
- 1/5
They advertise “fully equipped kitchens” but there wasn’t a Single dish, pan, utensil or anything in the bare cabinets. The roof was so musty my eyes watered and I sneezed 6 times upon entering the room. I didn’t stay the second night I paid for and the front desk was closed so I couldn’t even complain about it. Terrible facility. Never going they again.
- 1/5
Hotel called us at 10pm to tell us that they were cancelling the prepaid reservation. Told me that they didn't want me to waste my time coming to the hotel. Poor hotel management.
- 2/5
Upon Arrival we were given a LONG LIST of RULES and PURCHASES. THEY CHARGE EXTRA TO EXCHANGE FOR CLEAN LINEN, HOUSEKEEPING (if you're not staying for 14 days), trash pickup and MORE!!! You get 1 Towel and 1 Washcloth. The kitchenette is OUTDATED with cigarette burns on the counter, chairs. NO BREAKFAST OFFERED or BREAKFAST Nook (EVERY OTHER EXTENDED STAY offers a MUFFINS, GRANOLA, COFFEE, TEA, OATMEAL). This one refers you to LOCAL restaurants. EXTENDED STAY NEED/SHOULD REMOVE THIS PARTICULAR "HOTEL" from their Name. Make it a "MOTEL 7" 😉 only because it has a large Kitchenette
- 2/5
No breakfast items.
- 4/5
No kitchenware or flatware in unit, only 2 plastic cups in bath. I wish that was disclosed to us before booking.
- 2/5
This is not a real hotel. This location clearly caters to homeless people and people in between housing. There are people living in these hotel rooms and have begun to treat this location as their home. There’s a lot of smoking and different food smells throughout the halls. People having loud conversations in the halls and congregating outside in groups playing music. There are abandoned cars trucks and buses parked throughout the parking lot. As of the day I checked in the elevator isn’t working which is extremely inconvenient with luggage of any sort. I wouldn’t recommend this location for any reason, things need to change if I were to ever return.
- 3/5
The elevator was out - I'm in good shape but the woman checking in that was in front of me wasn't. Just thinking of others that may also not be able to climb stairs
- 2/5
I don't say anything
- 1/5
They allowed me to book then no one came to the front desk I had to call customer service. Just to be switched to separate location then have to drive there which was inconvenient more so because I Ubered from the airport so I had to Uber there which was more money I had to pay.
- 5/5
It was quiet and clean
- 1/5
I've stayed in numerous extended stays all-over the country. This one was horrible. Room not very clean. Old furniture and carpet. Door wouldnt completely lock. I waited 20 min to be checked in because no one was at the desk. Hotel is severly understaffed. Hallway smelled like weed.
- 2/5
Check in took WAY too long. The clerk was trying to change someone else's room, but kept locking herself out. The hotel needs updates. I'm not happy with my stay- when I finally got in my room, I had to go back to the front desk because there was no soap or hand towels left in my room. That's only 1 of the reasons I'm displeased. I plan on sending the property an email.
- 1/5
So, I entered the dilapidated elevator (there's only one) without lighting. I then proceeded to enter my guest room. Well, I had a few guests....roaches. I only got as far as the foyer and closed the door (with a tissue). After witnessing all that had within 22 mins., I promptly demanded a refund. The reviews were misleading the entire description of the hotel was untrue! And to boot, I have to pay for another hotel on short notice. IN TWO WORDS: DILAPIDATED & DECREPIT
- 1/5
The Front Desk staff (WHEN THEY WERE THERE) was friendly, Desk staf are NOT there 10pm to 10am. There was a Fire Alarm (false alarm thank God) about 11:45pm. THEN the couple in the room next to ours ( we were in Room 231) had a HUGE VERY LOUD fight about 2am for over an hour. We were frightened and very upxet. It was just the WORST - THE WORST - stay ever in more than 30 years of travelling. I will NEVER, NEVER stay in another Extended Stay anywhere - ANY WHERE.
- 5/5
Beautiful
- 2/5
Dog poop all around the property especially in the back. Rooms are not cleaned and replenished as they should be and the of dog urine hits you in the face in some units.
- 5/5
Clean facilities, helpful staff
- 5/5
Have stayed here with my family twice for extended periods of time and had great experiences. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Facilities are clean and maintained.
- 4/5
It was clean and nice however it is not a hotel it is apartment living so no maid service or any amenities.
- 3/5
Said had to purchase pots and pans for $40.00 and dishes with utensils for $20.00. Why would i purchase this stuff for a two night stay when i have this stuff at home: dont need anymore dishes, this is just wrong for this type of hotel setup. No other Extended Stay I've stayed at makes you purchase these items: Wont stay here again!!! Smoke detector kept going off, reported to the front desk and was told maintenance was off; therefore it kept beeping all night.
- 1/5
Room smelled heavily like smoke. Sheets smelled unclean. The property was unkept.
- 5/5
Great Staff members. They were extremely helpful and made stay Great
- 3/5
There are 3 Extended Stays in the Columbia area. This is by far the best one. The staff is pleasant. The area is peaceful and the rooms are clean. I wll chose this location everytime.
- 2/5
It took three tries to get a decent room. The first room smelled of smoke. The second one had dirty sheets and the lock didn’t work properly. However, the final room was updated and clean. It was after 9 pm when I arrived from the airport. Otherwise, I would have left. The gentleman at the front desk was very kind.
- 4/5
Waited 15 minutes to check i. Die to the worker possibly sleeping. He was not polite when he finally came to the window. I expect better when i stay at a hotel of this rating for business. Key cards kept deactivating multiple times during our stay and wouldnt work on any outside oor or our room. Having to buy our utensils and pans to even have cooked food was not right, they should have let us know that ahead of time. Other then that the rooms were comfy, just had to beg for everything we needed
- 5/5
So far so good. Room is spacious, a little outdated, but clean. Hallway does have a strange smell, but inside the room is good.
- 1/5
Roaches/bedbugs in bed. Sink faucet was not secured. Stains on bed sheets. Paper thin walls/ceilings.
- 5/5
Initially, we were unsure of what to expect from this location in terms of its child-friendly environment and amenities. However, we were pleasantly surprised to find that it not only catered to families but also provided a fully equipped kitchen with a stove and oven. Moreover, the staff at this location was exceptional, and the ongoing conversion to studio apartments added to its appeal. If you ever find yourself in need of temporary accommodation without the commitment of a long-term lease, I highly recommend considering the Columbia Gateway Extended Stay. It offers a comfortable and convenient living experience, ensuring that you do not feel trapped or restricted.
- 5/5
It was amazing! Very clean rooms nice and spacious like how they have everything including little kitchen! Was perfect and price was right on! Def will be booking all my future stays here!
- 1/5
Smells like cigarettes and fried food. It’s loud all night long. People are stomping all night and slamming their doors. Kids running in the hall ways until midnight. The desk attendant that we had to call to check us in was nice and the guy who checked me out in the AM was quick and efficient. We had no towels or soap in our room and we called for them but couldn’t not get any because there was no staff on.
- 3/5
It’s good for the price. Just dated and carpets seem musty.
- 5/5
It was close to town but still out enough that it was quite and everyone I had interaction with was polite and kind
- 2/5
Bedsheets were full with long, black hair, none of the amenities promised with the room were present. No coffee pot no iron no hairdryer. Bed set up for the hide a bed was absent. No grab and go Breakfast was available. Very difficult to contact staff.
- 3/5
Poor
- 1/5
Terrible room amenities! They only provide two bath towers and two wash clothes (no hand towel!!) for two people for weekly stay! If you need new towel, you need to pay. There's full kitchen, but no dinnerware or cookware. You have to buy plates, bowls, silverware for $20 and a few pieces of cookware for $60 if you want to cook and eat in the room! Worst of all, they don't even provide iron and ironing board!!! If you're a traveler, stay away from this place!
- 2/5
Additionally, it appears that homeless families or section 8 residents were present
- 5/5
last minute booking after midnight, night staff was helpful and got me in a room right away. area seemed very clean and safe. mostly government offices all around it appeared.
- 2/5
Hotel just seems run down. Gym is a joke. No grab and go breakfast. Room was half swept. No utensils, plates or pots. I wouldn’t stay here again.
- 1/5
Most disgusting smell as you enter the lobby of the hotel. The room was dirty kitchen filthy, bathroom filthy. I travel with cleaning products and Lysol, so I did my own cleaning being that I checked into the room at close to 10 o’clock Wednesday upon check-in. The gentleman at the front desk was extremely unfriendly, and almost gave me the creeps, the noise with the people that are living, there was off the charts kids running around at all hours banging slamming doors just a terrible experience all around only thing I can say where the grounds were good for walking my show dogs . I would never stay here again, and if I ever get to a place with this amount of filth, I will make sure I leave the first night subjecting myself to dust and mold in the room all hours of the night noise, and smells when you enter the hotel that our gut wrenching.
- 1/5
It’s smelled of cigarette smoke throughout the whole building. It made it hard for us to breathe in the room. And it was terrible especially for the little children. Their were no sheets. Stains on the mattress. Broken pull out sofa. And even the bathroom was a mess.
- 5/5
It was sufficient for what was needed. Very dim in the entire place but it worked fine
- 2/5
Waited 20 minutes for front desk person to show up so I could check in. Overall smelled a little funky and the shower was falling apart
- 3/5
The stay was okay could of been better with the breakfast served was less than basic,. just coffee, tea, hot chocolate, oatmeal, and muffins. literally nothing else. Front desk people was very friendly, helpful and accommodating when I needed a stopper for bathtub to use for my daughter.
- 2/5
Upon check in the attendant was definitely sinking pot and high. Room was ok but the first night my child pooped and it backed up the toilet. Call for service… the high guys stated we could come down and get a plunger and fix it ourselves so we did and returned the plunger when we were done. The next night same thing happens… only this time apparently the plumbing in another room was bad and they never returned the plunger. So now for the whole evening 6 of us are toileting and staying in a room with backed up plumbing and clogged toilet. They next day still no plunger we had to go out and buy one so to not live in our own waste!!!!!!! Absolutely disgusting
- 3/5
It wS ok because the entire building had construction and repair going on so it wS noisy dust every were
- 1/5
This hotel was being remodeled and it was dirty and beat up all over. The room sincerely looks like it was from the 1060s, dirty and ugly. Check-in took around 30 minutes because they were not sure if the available rooms were clean or not. I was given the wrong room number and ended up trying to open the door for an occupied room. I had to go down to the lobby again with all my luggage to get the correct room number and key. Really bad hotel for this part of town with so many business travelers.
- 4/5
My stay at this hotel was pretty nice. It’s in a quiet location. The only thing I did not like was that the pictures on the Internet were not a good representation of the hotel rooms.
- 1/5
This is the worse place I ever visit. Staff was rude. I booked online with Expedia on Monday Dec. 26th. I reached motel with my family and came to know that they do not have any room available. This was difficult situation for me and my family which lead us to find another motel after an hour. Later on, they charged my credit card through Expedia website. Now I am working to get my money back.
- 1/5
There was a cockroach in the sink, the pull out matteess bed had stains on the sheet that never looked washed. There were crumbs in the beds whwen we arrived. The tub wasnt clean. I asked for a later check out at 12 and they just kept saying call tomorrow call tonight and then would give me different answers.
- 5/5
Property manager ,Eunice was very accommodating and granted a bottom floor request do to me having a two and four year old. When I come to Maryland this is my go to place, would recommend to anyone looking for nice comfort stay.
- 1/5
The room and the premises were stinking of smell from smoking. The bed and the sheets were reeking with that smell.. there were bugs and cockroaches in the room.
- 2/5
Very old and dated. Very noisy in halls from staff. Room above sounded like someone bowling above. Staff very friendly. Saw a roach crawl on room door.
- 5/5
A wonderful respite to return to at night!
- 1/5
- they don’t communicate with Expedia and just wait until guest resolve with Expedia - they block room key without notice and hold guest’s belongings
- 1/5
staff is not professional
- 2/5
This entire hotel had a bad odor. The rooms were in desperate need of repair and cleaning. Mold on air conditioner vents- that’s what I want to blow into the air I’m breathing, holes in carpet, laminate flooring in bathroom peeling up on itself- horrible patch jobs on doors. Stained carpeting. Book a room for 6 -room has 4 towels sets- no sheets or pillows in the room for the fold-out couch. Old yard sale looking furniture. Breakfast was prepackaged mini muffin or granola bar and coffee
- 1/5
I usually like staying at extended stays and such but today was horrible. When I first got into my room, I had to use the bathroom. When I open the toilet seat, there were someone else’s urine on the seat. Then I tried to flush and it didn’t flush. I had to leave for my events which lasted a few hours. When I came back the toilet finally flushed but didn’t take the toilet paper with it. Then I noticed when I closed the room door, an insect was crawling on the door. I decided to ignore it. Then my friend that I was sharing the room with noticed one on the nightstand between both of the beds. I have a severe fear of insects so I was already ready to leave the room and get another. Then she noticed when she hit the table, more of them appeared. She noticed the alarm clock, shined the flashlight into it, and noticed a literal infestation just in the clock alone of these disgusting insects. We decided to leave in the middle of the night, get our money back, and go to another hotel.
- 4/5
What was offered in room size
- 1/5
Nothing provided in kitchen . No ice Too old carpets
- 2/5
Well we didn’t end up staying because the condition of the room was so horrible. The smell of smoke was disgusting beyond anything we could hope to be able to withstand; like someone had just smoked a carton of cigarettes a minute before our arrival. But that wasn’t all…the window looked liked it had just been caulked but by a preschooler who thought it was finger paint and it didn’t seem to have a locking mechanism; it was a first floor room. The receptionist was very nice though and offered a full refund, thank goodness. This particular property is used by people who seem to live there more as apartments rather than as a hotel…
- 5/5
The stuff at this property are incredibly cheerful and helpful
- 4/5
Dirty Diapers from the past customer were under the bed. I also couldn't get in touch with the front desk on Saturday evening for a few hours.
- 1/5
Lobby and Rooms are filled with smoke smell . Bugs in room , kitchen stove does not work . Breakfast is just grab and go . which is not mentioned in the hotels.com page.
- 5/5
Incredible experience, I had a reservation but was stuck in traffic and going to arrive horribly late. I called to ask the front desk and they had a gentlemen working on-site that was still able to check me in well past reception closing. I was to be attending a funeral the next morning so it saved me the stress of having to find lodging elsewhere in the middle of the night. The room was great, well beyond what I had anticipated. The staff were all friendly and courteous.
- 1/5
I called the hotel with my cellphone and the on call operator tried to assist with calling the hotel on their end. Still no one answered the phone and then so he decided to call the on call manager and still no one answered the phone. Since the reservations was made through a 3rd party service, the agent was not able to help to relocate me to another hotel.
- 5/5
Convenient to store
- 4/5
Had an awesome stay! Only.things that turned me off the smell of weed in the lobby when i first arrived and although the property advertises its "smoke free" policy I would see people smoking just outside the doors and even had to continuously be woken up by the rooms next to me smoke detector because of people smoking in thier room.
- 1/5
This place was very dirty and not acceptable. We had to leave, as I could not let my family stay there.
- 3/5
I like the mini apartment concept, full fridge, stove, a little sitting sofa are however, the property is really outdated. No Covid restrictions in two equipment gym. Room was clean, but there was lots of long hair all over the countertops
- 4/5
The suite was perfect. We used it to have a small “girls sleepover” and it was just what we needed.
- 3/5
The room on the other hand was not clem and had a mildew smell. I'm not sure how with a clear conscience you can charge $264 for dirty, smelly, rundown room. I will not stay at an Extended Stay Hotel again.
