Reviews
The hotel receives mixed reviews with guests praising the staff, comfort, and location, but expressing disappointment with the cleanliness, amenities, and value for money. Some guests feel the hotel does not meet the standards expected of a Ritz-Carlton property.
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Comfortable beds and rooms
- Cleanliness and maintenance issues
- Lack of amenities and perks

It was amazing
- 4/5
Clean room, updates needed in the shower. Not a full Ritz Carlton experience. Needs improvement.
- 5/5
Absolutely everything! The property was clean, luxurious, secure, and in a wonderful area! I was very impressed by all of the staff and help hospitable, caring and accommodating. N/a

Good breakfast!
- 5/5
The most lovely Haitian woman was super helpful and the nice beautiful Indian man at the front desk helped make our stay - I’d give 6 starts but the max is 5
- 5/5
Really great stay thank you
- 4/5
Overall a good hotel. Great staff. The issue raised with them as well is that it is very cold on all hallways we had a premium room (twice in 3 weeks ) and found the air conditioning blowing only cold air regardless of setting. The only way to warm up the room is to close it.
- 5/5
The property is nicely located and staff are great. There is a Four Seasons construction site right in front of the property. Very noisy and certainly not improving the views for quite a while.
- 5/5
It was a very nice stay and pleasant staff.
- 5/5
Clean room, excellent and attentive staff
- 5/5
Great place to stay, friendly staff and it's centrally located to all the shoping and restaurants

My recent three-night stay at the Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove was absolutely wonderful. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed and cared for by an exceptional team of employees who truly represent the spirit of the Ritz-Carlton. Upon arrival, Desmond took care of my car with great professionalism, and Steve, the bellman, assisted me with my luggage and ensured I was settled comfortably in my room. At the front desk, Christina provided one of the best check-in experiences I’ve ever had she went above and beyond to make sure I felt at home from the very start until the day I checked out. There was a small misunderstanding with one of the front desk agents, Lucas, regarding an additional night’s reservation I made through Expedia. Unfortunately, the interaction was disappointing as I felt dismissed and unacknowledged during our conversation. However, I want to sincerely thank Manager Garcia, who handled the situation with grace and professionalism. He immediately resolved the issue, offered a kind gesture with drinks and extra Marriott points, and made me feel truly valued again. During my stay, I also had the pleasure of dining at Isabelle’s Restaurant, where Franklin, my server, delivered top-tier service. The hostess and the rest of the staff were equally delightful, and the food was absolutely excellent. Aside from that one minor hiccup, my experience at this property was nothing short of exceptional.
- 1/5
The room was noisy. The hotel is surrounded by busy roads. The pool is closed. No notification prior to check in. Alternative pool is a 20 minute car ride away. Sauna and steam room not available to hotel guests.
- 5/5
Excellent place.
- 5/5
Helpful and friendly staff. Excellent facilities.
- 5/5
It was cozier than I expected, which was welcomed. The staff was warm, and I felt well taken care of.
- 5/5
You get what you’re paying for at the Ritz, great people at front desk and Valet.
- 5/5
Place was very well maintained and put together.
- 1/5
For the $$$ so disappointed! Dirty floors like a cheap motel / will never stay here again!
- 5/5
Big suite with two balconies and really high ceilings for about $800 a night. I thought it was a great deal. Easy walk to the charming village and its restaurants. Convenient to the baseball park and to Miami proper.
- 5/5
Had a great stay. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
An ideal spot for R&R!
- 3/5
Really bad customer service and very unprofessional front desk manager not being accountable of his own mistakes and not finding the right solutions
- 5/5
Staff was attentive and property is first class.
- 4/5
Well located and elegant It’s worn, the pool is in need of major repairs and power washing. The hotel needs a refresh. Our room floor had all kinds of black marks and scratches, and scratches in the paint. Also the windows are old so it was a little noisy in the room
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 4/5
Nice property, however was never informed on the major renovations being done
- 3/5
Walls way too thin in rooms
- 5/5
There was no place to buy a magazine candy bar book aspirin a card or sunscreen Marble shower very slippery should put some skid strips down
- 4/5
Lovely place, well maintained, even if some of the lobby furniture could use a refresh . Sadly the spa was closed. Staff was great. Room was quite lovely - not large but a very nice traditional bathroom with real marble and a TUB as well as a separate shower. Enjoyed spending the night here with my elderly aunt during the hurricane. p.s. don’t forget to hit the hotel bar for a very reasonable happy hour offering!
- 2.5/5
The staff were nice. The breakfast garden was nice, though the food itself was nothing special. Not at all what you would expect from a Ritz-Carlton. Old and tired property.
- 0.5/5
The only positive was the personnel as far as polite and helpful. The cleanliness was horrible, I have pictures it was not worth what I paid for. I was expecting stellar cleaning but unfortunately the shower had black mold and the headboard had a nasty stain. The floors in the room were stained and uneven.

Good
- 5/5
Best location in Miami. Walk to Sadelles for the best breakfast ever. And right across the street from Sadelles the best authentic japanese restaurant in Miami, Omakai. Walk to Cocowalk and the best deli in town, movies too.
- 3.5/5
It wasn't like a luxury hotel
- 4/5
Very good

Room was not ready, gave us a room without a bay view and very noisy. Both traffic noise and kids shouting and bagging doirs at 6 am!

Pool service was excellent Not being notified of drilling above the room - poor service. Phones didn’t work and the timeliness of room cleaning was sporadic
- 5/5
Lovely staff and very comfy beds, great nights sleep
- 5/5
We liked all of it!!
- 3/5
Felt like a motel. Most of the perks, ie hotel robe, sleepers, shampoo were not available. Definitely subpar c/w prior years of the Ritz-carlton accommodations.

The manager Amy was excellent and was so helpful during our check-in . This is the best hotel in Coconut Grove! Every hotel should have an “Amy” in management.

This was not a a very good hotel. Expedia should not have it listed under five stars property.

Candidly , this is not to the caliber of a Ritz nor meets your expectations for a Ritz. The staff never showed any effort to accommodate simple request and in fact I felt they intentionally went out of their way to not accommodate. My room was not cleaned two days in a row. The beds are 2-3 star at best. The property is noisy between the adjacent construction site to the annoying and creepy drone flying the court yard daily with the emergency generator cycling daily. The bay view room is extend your head beyond the small uncomfortable deck and look at a sliver of a view between two buildings. Due to this stay , I would not book a Ritz ever again
- 5/5
It was fabulous. The finishes were super high end and we loved staying there.

High standard and pleasant staff. Clean and well decorated room.
- 2/5
I like the little town within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel itself is dated, smells mildewy, and is very expensive. There seemed to be young ladies hanging around and older men traveling alone. Not a comfortable environment for a seasoned solo traveler. Not my cup of tea. If you are looking for a friendly, updated Hotel with a fun vibe look somewhere else.
- 1/5
My least fav Ritz. Rooms were great and property in good shape but it was all the rest.
- 1/5
I got a room on the fifth floor on the bay side of the building without the bay view - so I ended up paying extra without the view requested. I have checked in on time and they claim they had no upper level rooms- I paid extra for nothing 👎
- 5/5
The hotel is clean and well appointed. The service impecable and the location very friendly.
- 2/5
Throughout our stay F&B failed over and over to meet standards. The bar our drinks bad fruit flys in them. When we addressed the bartender she remade one of the cocktails yet with more flys and just picked them out and then served the drink. Breakfast the Chia pudding was beyond sour and spoiled. Steak and eggs over cooked and iced cold as if they just served left over steak and potatoes. Very odd. Room service the food came however a few of the chicken wings were seriously bloody and they didn’t bring any plates or extra napkins with the food when we clearly ordered sharing items. We witnessed a car crash from our balcony when we called the front desk to report it, the gentleman first hung up on the second phone call, they just said “uh what? Ok bye” Definitely NOT a ritz Carlton experience from arrival to finish. Probably won’t return again.
- 5/5
Loved our stay. Great place and excellent staff
- 5/5
Having the balcony was great! Beautiful hotel and neighborhood. Walking distance to nearby restaurants and shops. 11 minutes to downtown. Swimming pool was wonderful. Very low key and private. Will definitely stay here when visiting Miami.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
one day my wife stayed late in the room. when the cleaning people arrived in the afternoon they made the beds but failed to clean the bathrooms completely. there was no nightly turndown service and we constantly asked for more towels and washcloths in the evening. the service at the restaurant and the pool was excellent and the food was very good.
- 3/5
Pool has very little sun during wintertime, but water very warm.
- 4/5
Service was impeccable as you would expect at a Ritz, beautiful property.
- 5/5
I feel safe when staying at the Ritz.
- 5/5
I think it is clean and the people are really nice to me. Thank you.
- 5/5
Excellent service
- 5/5
View: The property only goes up the 8th floor of the building so bay views aren't super close. But on the 6th floor with a partial bay view it was still quite nice, the balcony was appreciated. Room: The showers and bathroom are awesome and the room is very well put-together for comfort overall. Hotel interior/exterior: Absolutely gorgeous. The marble, tall ceilings, windows, fountain in the back give the hotel a very luxurious and more serious feel compared to the flashier options in Miami.
- 5/5
My experience at this hotel was great. The entire staff was polite, courteous and professional. The room was lovely and clean. The valet was on time
- 5/5
The staff went beyond what was required for an otherwise excellent stay.
- 4/5
For me there wasn't anything to complain or feel uneasy about.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel in beautiful setting. The rooms were stunning. The staff is so exceptional - they can’t do enough for you!
- 3/5
The hotel seems a bit run down and unkept and really understaffed. Not typical of a Ritz Carlton.
- 5/5
Clean, quiet, upscale experience. Customer service was top notch.
- 2/5
With the reputation of the Ritz Carlton, I believed we would be booking a wonderful day break for me and my husband. Unfortunately the quality did not meet expectations. The food at the bar was nothing to write home about and the room balcony was absolutely filthy. Additionally wifi was not included which seems like an incredibly basic feature in this century. After all this, they forgot to give us back our clothes we sent for cleaning on our way out. This experience has made me skeptical on ever booking at Ritz Carlton again.
- 5/5
This place is perfect if you appreciate luxury and space. The whole experience offers you an elegant atmosphere with commodities and the needed space during this crazy times. It never felt crowded like some many other Miami hotels feel. We were welcomed by very friendly staff. Also, the neighborhood of Coconut Grove is pure perfection. A perfect location to enjoy a Spring Break with the family without having to endure the Spring Breakers crowd. A true five stars hotel!
- 4/5
Food choices weren't great at the Hotel but the surrounding area has some great options. Pool was good but the music wasn't. My wife's fruit plate was delivered to our table with a live caterpillar (slug) on it...put us off obviously
- 5/5
excellent service, dedicated staff and clean environment
- 5/5
just an overnight stay, this time.....this is where I like to stay when coming to Miami
- 4/5
Great location. Can walk to town, bay and restaurants. Friendly staff. Hard to get served at the pool. Need more poolside staff
- 2/5
Location is good but not great, not many places you can walk to. Overall, service and property are below what one would expect of a Ritz-Carlton hotel.
- 5/5
Our daughter was sick. She was sad nt to ba able to celebrate Halloween and go trick or treat. The staff surprised her with special Halloween decoration and candies in our room. Amazing.
- 5/5
Amazing stay
- 3/5
We had left our room the first day of move in at 9 am and returned at 3:30 pm and we still had not received housekeeping. We had planned to rest that afternoon, but had to sit on the balcony for 15-30 minutes while the housekeeper did a “rush job” on the room. Our dirty coffee cups were left in the room and our dirty water glasses. We also did not receive anymore in room coffee. I sent an email and received a credit for $50 on the room and the next 2 days the room was well taken care of. However, on the final full day of our stay housekeeping was a disappointment again! This is not the first Ritz Carlton that my family has stayed in and I was truly dissatisfied with the poor housekeeping. We have 4 years of place to call home in Coconut Grove and I am sad to say I don’t think it will be the Ritz Carlton Coconut Grove. The staff is very friendly: pool staff, restaurant staff, valet staff, front desk staff all quality!
- 5/5
Great attentive staff. Very accommodating to last minute requests. Worth a visit.
- 5/5
Great hotel and great staff my family and I really enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
Food at restaurant were mind blowing
- 2/5
Walls are very thin. An alarm went off in the room next door at 3:45am. It rang for 15 minutes before security got in and shut it off. All I got was an “I’m sorry”
- 5/5
The best hotel with the best customer service. Me and my husband love it we stayed 7 days
- 3/5
Spa was nice. Massage therapist was awesome. Cost was a bit high
- 5/5
i did not like that they automatically applied $450 to my room without letting me know for incedentals like i am a thief or something and cant pay my bills.
- 5/5
I have to say that check in was not great. Arrival and valet was lacking and to make matters worse, our room was not ready and we had to get dressed for a black tie event. However, the hotel, in particular, Andrea at the front desk turned it arround and honored the Ritz Carlton as it should be. They accommodated us with a temporary room to get dressed in and then moved us to the room when it was ready. They comped our breakfast brunch and the whole staff was extremely hospitable. It made our stay very enjoyable. Just one thing, please oil the sliding glass door!! LOL. Thanks.
- 3/5
Compared with a Marriot property, not a luxury Ritz Carlton. King bed uncomfortable with worn mattress and wells were you sleep. No complimentary coffee in lobby. No retail stores in lobby. Not worth the price compared to Key Biscayne Ritz Carlton
- 2/5
Sub par service, terribly interruptive construction within the hotel, all day every day
- 4/5
Renovation has not been completed, but even so, the “old” Ritz was much more welcoming and comfortable.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel with wonderful staff. Wished the restaurant was still open when we checked in; however room serve burgers were good.
- 2/5
The hotel has a terrible pool area and NO bar...you have to walk 15 min to coconut grove center to get a drink.
- 2/5
No one Took the time to teach me how to use the telephone I had to lines every time I tried to call any of the departments in the hotel, the television I had no idea what channels were available to me or how to work with it, the coffee pot I had no understanding of what it was and did not like the coffee, room service was slow, the food was skimpy and the prices were too high. I did not want my room to be tidied up. I put a privacy sign on my door and still someone came in. Lock on door not secure.
- 2/5
Dine-in room service took over an over because they did not write our room number on the order. Bathroom needs improvement as water from the shower wets the bathroom floor. Repairs on the room above me began at 7am on a Saturday morning when construction was said to take place Monday-Friday. The room and facilities were clean. Valet was fairly quick. Check-in was easy.
- 5/5
Usually hotels treat my family and I differently because we don’t look like the kind of people that can afford nice places but the ritz Carlton was very sweet and amazing. They treated us well and the receptionist was very kind, I wish I new her name but she was there during the mornings. Overall great stay!
- 5/5
I stay there at least 3 times a year always a great experience and the staff is superb and the accommodations are wonderful a great weekend get away
- 5/5
Superb service, great location and good facilities. Front desk very knowledgeable and friendly.
- 4/5
It was great. Any issues were happily resolved.
- 5/5
Had a wonderful time
- 5/5
I stay at this ritz Carlton at least twice a year always a wonderful experience the staff is superb and very accommodating
- 3/5
Doorman/valet was a wonderful man who greeted us pleasantly and offered champagne, offered tips on restaurants for the eve, just a great guy. But check in girl was awful. Didn't offer any info, not even when requested, once upstairs we called the front desk several times and she wouldn't answer, went downstairs after trying for 20 minutes and she gave some flippant, lame excuse, even with two girls at the desk they can't answer the phone? not one person in the lobby...just rude and cold even then. I was so excited to go there and had been looking forward to it so much. We were on a fun romantic trip & she was just a bucket of cold water, we left the next day.
- 4/5
Staff was best part of Hotel bent over backwards so accommodating you would have never ever known this team was relatively new
- 4/5
This is a nice hotel as you can’t really go wrong with a Ritz Carlton. On arrival it did not seem quite as grand as the web photos. I think it could use some updating. If you are staying Monday through Thursday expect it to be pretty quiet with not many people at the pool, no music and just a feeling like you are the only ones there.
- 5/5
The Ritz Carlton in Coconut Grove is in the best location. You can walk to everything in downtown Coconut Grove. The hotel staff are top notch. The pool staff were the best. We spend days sipping drinks in the heated pool.
- 4/5
Great property for that area. Room had an adjoining door to the next room which made it noisy when the person was on the phone. Otherwise it was a great stay.
- 2/5
The constant banging on the ceiling and walls from 10am till 4ish was maddening. Paying for a suite so that my family (two kids included) can rest when needed was useless because the construction noise made napping for my sick kids impossible. I had to put them in the car in attempt to let them nap. The hotel gave chocolate covered strawberries and a few little extras but nothing that made up for the discomfort and inconvenience. We’re definitely disappointed in our experience.
- 2/5
Tired, bedraggled, devoid of any charm. A cloak of stagnant depression enveloped us until the moment we left.
- 5/5
We had a great stay. The hotel employees were especially wonderful, very helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
Great staff and atmosphere. I enjoyed the stayed!!
- 4/5
We had a really good stay. I subtracted from the rating because the Internet was not free, and that just made it feel cheap. That is understabable for a motel, or low end hotel or motel, but not for a hotel claiming a higher caliber. I travel a lot and Internet is usually included and guests are given an access code upon arrival.
- 3/5
Food and beverage were very much a let down, while still pricey. I had a Bellini at the bar and it was sad to see they use a Bellini flavor mix instead of real peach purée.
- 5/5
Amazing hotel. Staff super friendly and would accommodate any request. Room very very comfortable. Use of steam and sauna. Pool area very clean and not very busy when we were there end of Oct. Hotel is located in a quieter area just south of the hustle and bustle of Miami. Coconut Grove itself is a lovely area to walk around and there are many great local restaurants which deserve a visit, all in walking distance of the hotel. My only criticism is that overnight valet parking is expensive, especially when you are staying several nights. Otherwise no complaints and will definitely go back.
- 5/5
The pool needs more cleaning and the mattress is a bit soft (for my personal liking) but otherwise great stay. Giovanni (sp?) went the extra mile to make us feel special and provided very personal service. That made the biggest difference.
