Reviews
The hotel staff is consistently praised for being friendly, helpful, and courteous. The location is also frequently mentioned as a pro, being close to the university and local restaurants. However, there are several complaints about the cleanliness of the hotel, particularly in the bathrooms and common areas. Some guests also mention that the rooms and facilities are outdated and in need of updating.

Staff greetings made it seem like we were a bother. Cheeriest person is the lady attending breakfast. Breakfast lacking the Hampton Inn finesse. Very few options. Son loved the mini waffle option though. I’ll seek other options next time.

Pleasant, helpful check in desk. humid room smelled musty, scratchy sheets and towels. Broken sink. Windows were thin so we could sleep due to the road noise. Couldn't sleep due to the increased humidity in the room.

The ease of checking in, text available to the front desk, very courteous staff. Room is very clean, nice fragrance in the room. i like the soap and lotion wall mounts, TV works great, HBO, Netflix and others available and the bed is very comfortable. I have no complaints at all

Meh......best part about the stay was the free breakfast. Rooms are dark and worn out. It may have been the hardest, most worn out bed I have slept in in 25+ years. Cancelled my next reservation and will go back to Lakeside Lodge or the James Martin Inn.

Pool: closed in September. Parking: yes, safe Breakfast: Oh boy, this continental breakfast, complete with waffles full of sugar, is the only complaint about this type of hotels. I don't know anyone who eats this type of breakfast anymore. Why not make a difference and have some greens, freshly boiled eggs, and local bread or toast? Some nice coffee freshly brewed, and everyone is happy. Staff didn't even say hi. Oh well. I'm happy with a clean room with no extra smells. 5*

Location was good in relation to the University of Clemson. The hotel had no keys to get into the rooms. Every time you had to get into your room the staff had to escort you and let you in. They didn’t even ask for an ID so technically I could have gone into any room number I asked for. They ran out of towels and never serviced our room.

The room was comfortable, staff was superb: Isaiah who checked us in and greeted us with fresh baked cookies was wonderful, breakfast better than most. Price was competitive and we felt it to be a great bargain.

Booked for two nights. Multiple long black hairs found in bed, carpet, bathroom. We left after one night and moved to Courtyard by Marriott. I will be contacting Orbitz or Hilton directly for a one night refund. Also line at check in and the staff is taking phone calls. Terrible.

From the beginning of the stay, Lauren was out front smiling when we pulled up to the hotel. From the check in to recommending a restaurant to eat, she was on point. Will definitely stay here again. You rock LAUREN!!!!!!!
- 4/5
The property was very convenient in a nice area. Our only critique is that the rooms are in need of refurbishing. In addition, the HVAC system needs to be upgraded.
- 3/5
Close to Clemson campus, clean rooms.

Very clean and excellent location to Clemson University. Breakfast had decent selection. Would stay here again when in the area!

Great hotel for price!
- 2/5
The room appeared to have 2 queen beds at one time, but now is a king bed. So you have an entire half of the room that is empty but you could see where the headboard was glued to the wall. The television can’t stream apps and you can’t cast your phone so it was limited tv.
- 5/5
Never a bad Hampton! The bed could have been a little softer as I found it too hard but otherwise excellent stay.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly, room clean and breakfast provided. Great area to walk dogs!
- 4/5
Great location!
- 5/5
Very clean Which is most important. All bed sheets and comforter were white which means they are likely bleached. I only will stay at hotels with white linens and comforter for this reason.Front desk workers were super nice and breakfast was excellent. Bed was hard so my back was a little sore but overall loved this hotel! Will def stay there again.

Great check-in experience. was here early. quick & easy. added my rewards account seamlessly. offered waters.

I was very upset to have paid $75 for one night because I brought my two dogs. It was not plainly shown on Expedia and they would not help me.

satisfied with my stay will book a room again next time I'm in town.

The property and rooms were nice and the continental breakfast was a great start to the day.

Hotel could use some updates. However it is adequate, close to campus and staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms have fridge microwave and coffee maker. They also have coffee available in the lobby all day.

The bathtub was a jetted tub. The jets were very dirty. There was no way I would have even turned them on for fear of what would have come out of them. Also, the tub was very high and if it wasn't for the grab bar, I couldn't have gotten in or out. The shower head was mounted so high my husband couldn't reach it. If we would have had to stay longer than 2 nights, we would have requested a new room. Our room number was 120.
- 4/5
Close to eateries
- 3/5
They were having difficulty with the air conditioning with the halls and elevators hot and the rooms icy cold. Our initial room was cold and damp from issues with condensation. We asked to be moved as even the bed felt wet. The next room was dry but as cold as a refrigerator and the thermostat did not work.

Friendly, clean , close to our activities

I was checking in with my 2 kids June 20th and checking out June 23rd. I had noted on my account I would be arriving around 1230am on June 21st. When I got to the hotel no one was at the desk. I tried to get someone’s attention just in case they were in the back but it didn’t work. After about 15 minutes I called Hilton so they can somehow check me in over the phone and they said they couldn’t but they tried calling the hotel multiple times for over 20 minutes. At this point it’s past 1am. My kids are tired and I was getting frustrated no one was working. Finally, after 130am the woman came out of the back saying she did not hear anything. The woman from Hilton was still on the phone and called to talk to her. She even said she has been calling for over 30 Min. After she could not get the computer to work she said to take the key and just go to the room. Everything was fine on 6/21 until I left and came back and the key didn’t work. The desk said that my name was not even in the system at this point but they gave me a new key. I asked to speak to a manager where I was told a manager will not be in until Monday when I will be gone. The wifi password never worked as it kept saying I was not a guest of the hotel. I am deeply disappointed as I stay at a lot of Hilton Hotels and this was the first time something like this has ever happened. Needless to stay when I come back to Clemson I will not be staying here.

If you’re looking for a great place to unwind when dropping your kid off at Clemson (or picking them up at the end of the school year), this is it! Convenient location, knowledgeable staff, and safe/restful environment make this the perfect hotel.
- 1/5
When we checked in the front desk clerk didn’t ask for picture ID, she just handed us keys. The first room she gave us had other people in it. She was not apologetic when we went back to the desk. She just seemed flustered and annoyed. She then gave us 1 key for another room from a binder of keys (do they not wipe the keys after each guest? - seems shady). We went to another room. The key did not work. We finally got the keys to a room that was clean, empty, and the key worked. The pool area was dirty littered with cigarette butts and bandaids.
- 5/5
Friendly, helpful, courteous staff. Very clean and comfortable accomodations. Plumbing was noisy and needs updating.
- 2/5
This property location is ok, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was recently renovated, but the overall property was dirty. Litter around outside not picked up and the bathrooms and floors were dirty. The pool was nice and clean, but the area could use a little hug. Dead plants, etc.
- 5/5
Everything beyond great.
- 5/5
I the convenience to the college. They themed the hotel which made the atmosphere welcoming. Free breakfast was perfect to start the day. I had a waffle and a yogurt but there were many options. 10/10

Would have liked more breakfast options (fruit other than apples, etc)

Staff was very helpful & got some batteries for me so i could use my sound machine that was dead & get some sleep. Breakfast was GREAT!
- 5/5
Great location, not far from Campus and to of the best restaurants nearby, Calhoun Corners and Pixie & Bills!
- 2/5
I loved everything u til the Hotel charged me an extra $307 I don’t know for what! They better fix that mess soon! So annoyed
- 3/5
The hotel needs a deep cleaning. The breakfast provided also needs some improvement. Not the best Hampton Inn I’ve stayed at. I think the location to the university allows them to charge more and offer average conditions.
- 5/5
I would always choose Hampton Inn.
- 5/5
We came for a Clemson football game, hotel staff were super friendly and helpful. Room was clean and very comfortable. Loved being able to walk to the game from the hotel

Lack of onsite laundry facilities is unacceptable.

The staff was friendly. The hotel and my room were clean. The complementary breakfast was brilliant! Would recommend requesting a room closer to the front of the building to allow for a little more distance from the adjacent railroad tracks.

The property was incredibly convenient to campus and amenities in the area. Some of the rooms were a little outdated but the staff was amazing. We didn't arrive until 2:20am due to a flight delay and the girl at the front desk was so helpful and friendly!

Staff was nice & hotel is in good location close to University & other things. However, the property is dated. I understand using the orange color due to it being Clemson…but update it! Use it with updated color scheme & decor such as the grey’s it would be fine. Even the rooms are dark and dingy, old furnishing’s, beige, brown & orange color scheme with dark wood. Another guest and us laughed that we felt like we’ve gone back to the 90’s. Definitely need biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and some bacon or better sausage at breakfast. The waffles were very good & several cereal & pastry options. It’s winter time so the pool is understandably shut down, but it’s kind of dangerous with it full of water and leaves just sitting there no cover on it, etc. and just yuck. The parking lot needs more space’s & definitely needs more lighting. I saw a few poles, but bulbs were out. Guest said we’re out sone time ago, too, when they were previously there. I would stay here again depending on price and available options. Hopefully, they’ll do an update & remodel & fix the lighting in the parking lot.
- 5/5
Great rooms, great lobby area, breakfast wasn’t that great though
- 4/5
Close to a good restaurant. Train track outside caused some late-night noise that sounded like a jet engine.
- 5/5
Great Clemson decor!!
- 5/5
Big and comfortable room
- 3/5
This property needs some upgrades to the common areas outside the rooms and to the AC system. The AC didn't work well in the hallways outside the rooms or in the elevator so it was hot and stuffy in those areas. The lobby area was upgraded and very nice - much nicer than the rest of the common areas in the hotel. The rooms were OK. AC was functional but not the best.
- 3/5
It was overall fine - not excellent - with some room for improvement. I've noticed Hampton Inn can be one of the less consistent brands w/in the Hilton umbrella. This was one. The positives: friendly staff, prompt checkin, immediate correction of a room snafu, clean overall in the room and common areas. Bed was comfortable and linens very clean. The negatives (and I was not looking for mistakes...but they caught my attention because there were several: the property rooms are showing their age. Somethings have been updated...carpets, some furniture. But elsewhere the walls need touchups, the wallpaper in the bathroom is slitely peeling, some of the furniture in my room showed dings and scratches and other wear and tear. And no matter how cool i set the a/c unit, it just felt humid in my room. There was no clock or alarm clock at all in my room -- odd. Overall I didn't dislike my stay but would choose another hotel in the area if it was in the same price range.
- 5/5
Older hotel but very clean, comfortable and inviting. Front desk staff was personable and helpful. Staff handling the breakfast was conscientious and worked hard to ensure all was in order and available. Good location.
- 1/5
Horrible. Got there and was told that they couldn’t accommodate our party of 6. Or at all. They had no rooms together, apart, adjoining or suites that could fit us available. I Booked a room that supposedly could handle our group. This led to driving to another hotel that SUPPOSEDLY could accommodate us per the Hampton Inn manager who spoke with hotels.com. Arrived there at Holiday Inn and Suites. Nope. No rooms for that size party. No adjoining rooms. FINALLY got two rooms side by side after 30 minutes of looking through computer. Indoor pool was out of order. Rooms weren’t great. Bath tub didn’t drain. And continental breakfast was literally horrible. And I can eat anything and don’t complain. I only wish hotels.com wouldn’t told me at the time I was trying to book that it wouldn’t fit us. Spent a long time getting this straight all while wore out from chemo, supposed to meet my daughter for supper, and supposed to be getting ready for a ring ceremony!! AND four impatient kids. Just seems like some kind of reimbursement should’ve been given for the headache and inconvenience that was the fault of the hotels.com and the actual hotels. Was the worst booking yet.

Very friendly at the front desk - comfy beds and pillows. Pool was small but cute. Great experience.
