Reviews
The hotel reviews are mixed, with guests expressing both satisfaction and dissatisfaction. While the location is praised for its proximity to downtown and public transportation, the cleanliness and condition of the rooms are frequently criticized.
- Great location close to downtown and public transportation
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Dirty and outdated rooms
- Noise from trains and street
- 4/5
Room was nice & clean. Only problem was water pressure from the sink & shower was very weak so was difficult to shower.
- 1/5
First night there was no hot water. I called downstairs to ask if there is a hot water guy said: “Yeah, we sometimes don't have a hot water, anything else?”
- 5/5
Employees were fantastic. Room was clean and comfortable. Rates were super reasonable due to early booking.
- 4/5
Our room was quiet, comfortable, and very spacious! We appreciated the larger minifridge and microwave. There was an odd smell in our room and in the hallways that continued to linger throughout our stay. Something like rust and wet paint. There were 4 of us (2 kids) for 3 nights. We typically do not ask for new sheets and their policy was that they would not change them for our duration, however after only one night one of our kids dripped ice cream on our bed and wiped chocolate on theirs so we requested new sheets and extra towels (we only ever had 3). Housekeeping continued to make our bed with the dirty sheets and never gave us extra towels. We came back for lunch and naps around lunchtime each day to find that housekeeping had not remade our rooms, which wasn't a big deal, but on one day housekeeping rushed us out of the room because it was their last room to clean before they could leave. In all, it was a very convenient stay, but disappointed us in hospitality and responsiveness.
- 4/5
This is an older building with some character. The friendly staff, good air conditioning and strong shower made it a comfortable stay.
- 5/5
Easy access to everything
- 4/5
The location was perfect The facilities and the bed clothes looked old
- 4/5
I loved the size of the room. It was huge! I loved that the beds were not side by side. Even though we had a city view room, we could still see the lake. The hotel was only a short walk to Grant Park and to museums. The staff are incredibly professional and nice. I loved that there is an elevator. There is nothing worse than walking all day and then having to climb stairs on sore and exhausted legs and feet! We stayed in Room 905 that needs some maintenance. The kitchen sink leaks when using the hot water. The fridge would either freeze items or keep them cool not cold. The shower/bathtub temperature dial is not set properly and the shower head desperately needs cleaned or replaced. The AC was set on fan when we arrived, so the room was humid and hot. The window AC unit was really not big enough to keep the entire space cool. We had to keep the bathroom door closed to have comfortable sleeping but then the bathroom was hot. The TV was inoperable due to missing the cable that connected it to the cable box. I didn't have a problem with the TV, as I didn't come to Chicago to watch TV; but my nephew wasn't happy.
- 3/5
Room cooling is not good. AC is very small. That’s why cooling temperature is not good.
- 4/5
The staff was friendly and efficient. The room was clean upon arrival. The bathroom fan was not working. The main issue was the AC not working. There was not filter in the machine and it was too old/too small to properly cool the room. We had it set to 60 degrees and you wouldn't have known. Not sure if it was because of the floor we were on or what but that was the largest issue we had.
- 4/5
The rooms were large and roomy, and the bathrooms were spotless! The water pressure was very good and it had very hot hot water that did not run out, just the way I like it!
- 2/5
The room smells like old building
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 4/5
Very good
- 4/5
The room we had was very clean and was well cleaned when we were away. It was very small and didn't even have any chairs or a table. It two beds and a dresser. No mini fridge. The L train was very noisy and it ran 24/7. You could hear it from the room. No free public parking. You have to pay at one of the lots that are nearby.
- 4/5
Everything was okay
- 5/5
This hotel was a great place to stay for the Chicago Pokemon Go Fest event. It was super close to Grant Park. I will return next year if the event is back in Chicago.

- 4/5
The location of Travelodge by Windham is superb, very near the Grant Park and the Bean. Our room was spacious and had 2 separate beds which gave us more comfort. I could not think of anything I did not like.
- 1.5/5
I like the location for my event. It was not that clean. The windows and the trim is extremely dated. It looks like there's decade of painted over trim.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Staff very friendly and helpful. Had an answer to all my questions
- 3/5
Get the job done for a quick stay. Could not offer parking recommendations, so do your own research if coming with a rental. Centrally located. Friendly staff.
- 2/5
close to L and to event outdated, dirty and overpriced
- 5/5
Check in time and flexibility
- 3/5
The hotel is ok, but expensive.
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 2/5
Room felt dirty. Carpet made me have an allergic reaction. Bathrooms were tiny and cramped and had little fruit flies flying all over the shower. AC unit was finicky, either made room too hot or too cold. Bed was insanely uncomfortable. My spouse and I kept sinking towards the middle of the mattress and causing back pain for me throughout the night.
- 3/5
Nice location. But windows are very old with one layer of traditional glass. So sound insulation is very poor and the property is next to the elevated train tracks. So you can imagine the noise from the train.
- 4/5
Room was clean and the staff were amazing, the rooms are a bit small but it worked fine. The A/C Unit is very small and didn’t work very well
- 5/5
Nice, friendly check in and familiarisation. 3 working elevators, nice view from 10th floor, a little noise from loop trains but had a great night's sleep. Super clean room and linens.
- 0.5/5
The location was good The cleanliness of the room was awful. Very old needed updating. AC made so much noise
- 3/5
Location is very central. Toilet was clean. Room was also clean. Reusable plastic glass provided in toilet had residue inside. Shows that housekeeping needs improvement. Price was too high for the room that we stayed in. Late checkout fee was extreme high.
- 3/5
Location was good Room looks rundown, the socket didn’t work or stay plugged in, carpet looks dirty
- 3.5/5

- 3/5
Pleasant
- 4/5
Great walking location to Grant Park & Millennium Park. Also close to bus stops
- 5/5
Great location and helpful staff.
- 4/5
I'm asking just for hot water they cannot attend to my needs
- 5/5
It was right about from the festival we went to! Who is connected to two restaurants downstairs everything was clean old building, but still up to date
- 4/5
Room was perfect for a quick stay. Staff was extremely helpful!
- 3/5
Room was fine, albeit it outdated. Location is great.
- 2/5
The location is great! Honestly, my stay at this hotel almost ruined my visit to Chicago. I believe that all the hotel's mechanical equipment, as well as that of the surrounding buildings, is located in the rear courtyard. As a result, there is constant noise from the machinery day and night. I asked the reception staff whether the noise ever stops, but they could not give me a clear answer. Even earplugs were not enough to block it out. If you're traveling, especially when dealing with jet lag or a time zone difference, this is far from ideal. In my opinion, it's not worth it. The building is also very old. .
- 3.5/5
Good
- 4/5
The room was clean although pretty outdated. The staff was helpful and polite.
- 5/5
Welcoming and friendly staff
- 4/5
Good
- 3/5
The bad: no fridge or microwave in the room. And the bathroom was so small that a larger person would have difficulty completing important bodily tasks. (The toilet is so close to the wall that it made wiping a little tricky for me, and average sized man.) On the whole, we enjoyed our stay despite the lack of a few key amenities. The hotel is conveniently located to Grant Park, the Art Institute, the Field Museum, and tons of shopping and dining options.
- 4/5
The air conditioner was broken so it was warm. Otherwise the room was very clean and serviceable
- 5/5
👍
- 5/5
The people were nice. The property was in a perfect location.
- 1/5
We stayed at this hotel recently, and unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. The AC was making loud noises throughout the stay, which made it difficult to relax and sleep properly. On top of that, the staff was rude and unhelpful when we raised our concerns. Overall, the service and stay did not meet our expectations at all. I would not recommend this place.
- 1/5
I had to move to three different rooms before I got one with hot water. The water was turned off the day I arrived and after it was turned back on it never got hot. I was not able to get a hot shower for the day I had to start working. For what I paid I was very disappointed in the rooms
- 4/5
The one issue I had was the water pressure, but that's to be expected in a building this old and large.
- 5/5
Staff very friendly and helpful all times.
- 5/5
It’s okay, not bad but not luxury if that’s what you’re looking for
- 5/5
The staff was helpful with navigating forms of transportation to get around Chicago as some locations could work . Also did buy water and it was reasonable priced
- 5/5
Good location
- 4/5
Front desk staff was very friendly, helping with doors. Always acknowledged with a hello and asked if I needed anything
- 5/5
The location within walking distance of the sight-seeing was great. Thought parking was included, but had to pay to park in lot right across from Hotel, which don’t get me wrong is great. Issue was it’s once you’re parked you stay for the fee $62 no in/out privileged. Tiny room, but was 1 night stay so no big deal. Otherwise like said, location was perfect.
- 4/5
La persona de recepción cuando llegamos cero actitud de servicio. El resto del staff bien. Hotel viejo e instalaciones viejas pero todo funcionó bien. Calidad precio, buena relación
- 3/5
Old building, but clean and bed was comfortable- restaurants next door great. Very little amenities, not fancy but clean
- 5/5
The location for this hotel was absolutely amazing, we had a view of the lake from our room which was really nice as well as being able to see the skyline. The whole hotel was very clean and nice to be in, the rooms were large and a comfortable space to hang out in. The beds were really comfortable
- 5/5
It was a comfortable stay
- 5/5
Clean, convenient
- 5/5
Room was great
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
The staff was kind and professional
- 3/5
Clean
- 5/5
Older hotel undergoing renovation. Very quiet with a wonderful staff!
- 5/5
The parking lot was conveniently located right across the street from the hotel entrance. We were there for a concert at Soldier Field so it was just under $63 to park for 24 hours. The staff at the front desk and security were all very nice. It is an old building but everything was/felt very clean. Our room was very spacious! Two full beds and a little "kitchenette" type area.. the bathroom was large also. It was perfect for what we needed - a place to sleep after the concert. We would definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
It is an older hotel with spacious, oddly configured rooms. It was clean and had two restaurants just off the lobby.
- 2/5
Checked in on line “to save time” yet issue when I went to desk for key. Took 20-25 min and we had to wait for a room even thought it was 4pm Parking was awful and expensive.
- 5/5
There’s a self parking across the street. $62 for overnight parking.
- 3/5
older budget hotel. it was fine
- 3/5
The price was great for what we needed for 2 days. Close to so many things and walking distance.
- 3/5
The rooms are older. It smelled like weed in the lobby. The pipe in the room kept me up all night. There was a stale smell to the room.
- 4/5
Had to park in lots few blocks away. No parking on site.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and helpful.. location was great
- 5/5
This stay was perfect - clean, downtown, easy on and out!
- 4/5
The staff was very sweet and helpful. The parking they suggested was close and easy to use. There was small problem with the heat not working, but it was fixed right away. Overall I would use again for quick trip.
- 5/5
Great
- 4/5
Very reasonable and convenient
- 1/5
The policeman in the lobby to avoid criminal activity was a nice touch, I guess. There are countless ways to burn US$250 a night, choose others. I rarely leave bad reviews, this time it’s my duty to make an exception. Avoid this place like the plague.
- 4/5
It was convenient location. The only negative was the noise from the street. The windows are old and can't be opened. The radiator clanks a lot at night making it difficult to sleep.
- 4/5
You have to pay for both but convenient for parking and transit. Ideal for Grant Park or Soldier Field events.
- 4/5
Rooms was clean total was a little out dated but customer service was great location was great parking awful but download park wiz and you can get a discount on parking. Restaurant in building both were great
- 5/5
Quiet. Clean staff was very helpful and respectful. Will stay here again if I ever go back to Chicago
- 5/5
The location is great, especially if you take public transportation. There are plenty of eateries within walking distance. The room was spacious. The hotel is older but well maintained. We had a late train departure and we were able to store our luggage at the hotel while we did more sightseeing. Very accommodating.
- 3/5
Uncomfortable and small bed for a double room. Very noisy.
- 5/5
Did not use parking
- 4/5
Clean room and friendly staff.
- 1/5
THE WORST.
- 4/5
Good location. Within walking distance to The Art Institute. Close to transportation.
- 5/5
Room very clean
- 2/5
The hotel does not have hotel parking. You can park on the street which you have to move during different times. There is a parking lot across the street from hotel which is $65 for so many hours then you have to pay again. I would not stay again.
- 4/5
You get what you pay for. So, here, you don't pay much. When we stayed it was lowest cost in the whole area. For that you get a clean bed, clean bath and very plain, old, building. We were comfortable and felt safe. Staff was fantastic.
- 2/5
The worst part is the misleading parking description that implies parking is included. You have to pay $62 at the lot nearby. Staff is nice and helpful.
- 5/5
Good
- 3/5
Apart from the location, there is not much to do in the Hotel. Okay for a night or so but not okay for families.
- 5/5
Location is convenient, restaurants, coffee shops and convenient stores are available 24/7.
- 3/5
Located close to several restaurants and public transport. Staff was wonderful. But the hotel itself was quite run down and dilapidated. Old carpet, bed was sinking down in the middle, scuffs, dings and scratches on virtually ever surface, poor workmanship everywhere, exposed piping and wiring in the hallways, etc.
- 5/5
Staff were great, room was clean, parking was easy.
- 1/5
Location very nice, staff very nice, building and facilities and rooms. Absolutely disgusting. not historical, but flat out disgusting, dirty, rundown, and gross.
- 1/5
Never expected a hotel that looks so clean and well maintained to be so bad… Outlets did not work, tv did not work, WiFi barely worked… Would never recommend staying here unless it’s an emergency.
- 3/5
The room was too cold, tried turning on the heat but the room just wouldn't warm up
- 4/5
No microwave or small refrigerator
- 4/5
Staff are approachable and helpful.
- 4/5
The ubicaction is great
- 4/5
The ubicaction is fantastic
- 3/5
Old building, not be updated to modern style. Very simple with basic needs.
- 2/5
Loud construction noise; minimal to no amenities. Room was obviously poorly maintained and shower faucet wouldn't stop drifting to full hot. Avoid unless absolutely necessary.
- 5/5
Loved the Cafeteria in the Lobby.
- 5/5
The room was larger than most and clean. The electrical outlets were a little out of date and my phone charger did not stay plugged in, which is a minor issue. Otherwise, it was a great time.
- 4/5
We used public transportation.
- 1/5
We parked across the street and paid which was fine. the staff were disrespectful when i had questions. the rooms were disgusting, there was hairs in the bed and the carpet looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. we ended up leaving early due to the hotel rooms.
- 5/5
Very helpful and friendly!
- 5/5
Staff was amazing and sweet. Breakfast was awesome
- 4/5
The location is great and the staff were friendly. There was no artwork on 3 of the walls, so the space felt boring. I was surprised that there was not a refrigerator nor microwave in the room. Nearly every place I have stayed included a refrigerator. Some improvements in the room appeared hastily done.
- 5/5
Room was clean, staff was friendly. They've been remodeling and the place looks good
- 5/5
Parking was easy. $65 for 24 hours.
- 4/5
Centrally located. Parking lots available all around the hotel (use Spothero to find best price), 20+ restaurants located in walking distance. Room was huge, and bathroom was large. 2 closets were in the room. Room was very clean, and my husband, myself and our 2 teens felt it met our needs. The only downfall is the trains, which ran right outside our room every 10 minutes or so. After the 1st night we didn’t even notice them.
- 5/5
Great location for the price. Multiple Parking available in the area. Close to public transportation. Multiple restaurants around.
- 5/5
This property is a bit dated and needs a facelift…which it’s getting!! So there’s construction workers talking in the hall in the am, sporadic TV service, no hot water/water pressure, and little furniture. BUT…it’s the greatest location ever! The staff is helpful and the hotel is walkable…Dunkin and CVS are a block or two away. It’s downtown in the Printers’ Row, a hip hotbed of lofts and trendy coffee bars. It’s also super close to all the parks, Michigan Avenue, buses, and the El. You can take the blue or red line here from the airport and save a ton of $$$. Location is everything!! There’s also a wonderful Thai restaurant and comfort food diner…both right off the lobby. Very helpful!!
- 5/5
Clean Rooms.
- 3/5
Nice area but very noisey
- 1/5
Rooms facing road is super noisy. Windows have huge space in between them. Rooms are not properly cleaned. Our sheet had stains.
- 5/5
Location and service
- 4/5
No parking available ..had to pay for parking.
- 3/5
Under construction, so I give them Grace, but stiff beds, loud heaters, and old shower
- 5/5
All good
- 3/5
Perfect location for a good price that aside, mid hotel
- 3/5
Check in was not good, they do not take cash any longer, had to find a bank deposit the money than walk four blocks back to the hotel to check in.
- 5/5
Was a cold winter, but this was close to eve dry thing so no so bad
- 1/5

- 3/5
This Travel Lodge is in a prime location just off of Roosevelt park and convenient to public transportation. The building is old and the rooms are dated with rad heat.
- 1/5
The property badly needs an update. The heater being on and off and the noise from the pipes was terrible. Running out of blankets due to the heater issues was unacceptable.
- 3/5
My day was all right. I just wish that the pictures actually match what I was actually looking at. But the bright side is everything is very local and you can walk places and it’s also walking distance.

The staff was very nice and understanding my frustration. Maria n Héctor
- 5/5
Room and bathroom were clean and we had no issues
- 5/5
Clean room, great location!
- 5/5
Good room. Excellent location
- 4/5
Pleasant 3-day stay during Spring Break. GREAT location!!! Easy walk to most of the famous attractions, and minutes from L Train stations.
- 4/5
I had a good stay. My room was clean and had decent view. If you are a lite sleeper I wouldn’t recommend as it’s right next to the train tracks and might be too loud for some. I recommend that if you stay you might what to consider bringing an extension cord to charge your devices as the outlets are very limited in the room. The staff was very friendly and pleasant
- 4/5
Room was nice and tidy
- 1/5
Really poor
- 4/5
Clean room and friendly staff
- 4/5
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was great.
- 5/5
This was our third year in a row staying at this same hotel. It has very convenient parking, walkability to pretty much everything and the rooms are big and spacious. We will always stay here when we visit Chicago!
- 3/5
Strange noises from the pipes in the room through the night Paper think walls
- 4/5
Television wasn’t working. Asked the front desk all they said is we don’t know how to help
- 2/5
Really old rooms, landlord special, windows entirely painted over. There is little to no sound dampening, you hear EVERYTHING that is outside. The rooms are super draft. Room door is flimsy, did not feel safe. The room itself is BARE minimum. Tiny bathroom, can barely get around the door to get to the toilet. It was cheap compared to other hotels in the area and I can see why.
- 5/5
This hotel is very good for an affordable stay in a perfect location. It's right off of Michigan Ave. My room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 2/5
Floor was stained. Disruptive pluming noises
- 5/5
Great area lots of good places to go close by!
- 4/5
Our room was spacious and clean, Beds are comfortable. Only disc side was the noise from other rims coming in through the bathroom vents and windows. Radiant heat and window unit AC. Shower water was tricky to get warm. But the hotel itself was clean and continently located for the event I was attending.
- 4/5
The kitchen had complimentary coffee packets and teas, which was really thoughtful. Though it would've been nice if there was a mini bottle of dish soap in case travelers wanted to wash any kind of silverware. Everybody was very nice and I really appreciated the two restaurants being attached right next door.
- 4/5
Otherwise the room was clean and the staff was the best part of my stay. Ac worked great and the restaurants connected to the hotel (while the doors actually connecting them to the lobby were locked) had great food and friendly staff as well.
- 3/5
Property when you first walk in is nice and inviting. But then getting off the elevator the hallways are creepy. Rooms are very outdated and small. Its 12 stories high. You must pay for parking 2 days costs 120$. You dont get a coupon code, or reimbursement. There are no refrigerators in the room. The water pressure is awful but the water gets extremely hot. The staff at the desk were nice and answered all questions.
- 5/5
Overall pretty neat and clean and the staff was very nice. It is located in downtown so you’re prone to all kinds of noises
- 4/5
The staff was efficient and personable. It’s a two minute walk to the red line and a 10 minutes to the blue line. You get shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The building is old, but the water pressure is great and the water temperature is better. The bed was comfortable.
- 4/5
Staff was not as friendly as previous stays. As a disabled person I requested to be close to the elevator. 5 rooms from the elevator on the 10th floor. The room was clean and comfortable. I love the restaurants adjacent to the hotel.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff, clean simple rooms, a fine economical stay in downtown Chicago.
- 1/5
Please know there’s a app to download for parking that’s free on the street from 10 pm until 8 am M-F and free all weekend
- 4/5
It’s was good for a last minute stay. Nothing special, nothing bad.
- 5/5
The only thing I wish the room had was a mini fridge. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay!
- 3/5
Boiler went out and so did the hot water. Booker repaired but lost steam heat in the morning so we could have hot water. Had steam heat over night. Windows didn’t seal so cold and sound came in the room and the tv didn’t work correctly.
- 2/5
The kitchen had only the mini fridge, microwave, coffeemaker but nothing else.No sponge,no dish soap so I had to use my own.I also asked them for any of those supplies or dishes and they said they did not provide them.I also was very nervous when I was told that the they had no hot water when I arrived. I was offered a free full cancellation and nothing else and I had to ask for a discount when I did the check out and the manager seemed reluctant to give me.I was not impressed and this is not the 1st time I have had issues w/this hotel.
- 3/5
Great Location/Fair Price/not great for families as the exterior walls and windows are paper thin. The L, as well as, regular traffic, people, and sirens will keep you up most of the night. Would be great for younger crowds looking to get the city experience
- 1/5
Room was not heated, no support from staff and I need better customer service! Amenities was limited!!!
- 5/5
🎯
- 4/5
Efficient check in / out.
- 5/5
Was a great stay
- 3/5
While the hotel itself is pretty standard, the room we had been given had a few concerns. Most importantly, upon arrival inside the room, we noticed that the toilet had not been flushed since it was last used. Other than that, one of the sink handles seemed to leak water when the faucet ran and using the shower led to water getting all over the floor because the accessibility "ramp" was up towards the shower, so any water remotely near the edge ran down and puddled throughout the rest of the bathroom near the shower. Otherwise a decent place to sleep.
- 5/5
Great space
- 1/5
Old rooms , smell like dingy carpet
- 5/5
Yes and everything was purfect. By the time i got there and the check in was great. Once i went to sleep i didnt even hear the trains til i woke up to actually hear all the noise. I would do it again and will recomend to anyone
- 5/5
It was only missing a chair in the room. The one thing is that i couldn't find how to keep the heat on.
- 5/5
Room was big and spacious. Great access to the city.
- 3/5
Needs upgrading of bed, electrical outlets and improve safety such as provision of grab rail and non slip mat for the shower/bathroom. Overall the room is clean, good housekeeping service. For the price it’s a good deal.
- 2/5
It was bitter cold thst night at Chica
- 1/5
The room was horrendous. Slept with my clothes on.
- 3/5
This is an older hotel so things are run down a bit, but it's age made it interesting. It was clean. The sofa bed seemed quite old. The location is walking distance to several dining options.
- 5/5
Room was clean everything was functional
- 3/5
Small, old but clean room. Very close to BuddyGuy’s Legends which is why we’re were there. Near the L so trains all night long. Staff friendly. Great restaurants within walking distance. Shower needed hotter water with better water pressure.
- 3/5
Tv in room did not work, let front desk know, but it was never fixed
- 1/5
I booked on line for a deal but when i got to the room i wasn't allowed to go in it and had to pay full price
- 5/5
Only thing I would change is add mini fridges to the rooms.
- 5/5
Location very convenient location to university
- 3/5
Room was very small and not clean either

- 5/5
Great staff
- 5/5
Everyone was so friendly. The room was great and the view of the city was wonderful both during the day and the night. The concierge went way out of his way to help me. I will stay there again and again.
- 4/5
Only problem was that on the side of the building, we were staying in the train was extremely loud
- 5/5
All the above
- 5/5
Location is perfect.
- 4/5
Always a good stay
- 3/5
The pictures were deceiving. It was an okay place. People were great. Wouldn’t not stay there again.
- 2/5
Staff was courteous checkin was easy. But, annoying clicking sound coming from pipe running from floor to ceiling which kept me awake part of the night. No hot water which is bad when you have to go outside in temperatures that are around zero.
- 5/5
Clean room, highly walkable location and friendly staff
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
quiet, good location. rooms are outdated but well cared for

Very nice staff, location is a plus
- 5/5
We liked it
- 4/5
Yes
- 3/5
There were no chairs or desks made for sitting at in my room.
- 5/5
Good location for downtown and walkable
- 5/5
The room was clean, temperature was good, shower worked well, lots of elevators - it filled the purpose perfectly. A good night rest.
- 4/5
Staff was great
- 5/5
Yes it was good
- 4/5
It's a good quality for the adequate price, given the location. The only unpleasantness was that the room has an absolute useless TV - which even didn’t work properly - but no fridge and microwave, at least at the floor. Otherwise it was really nice, staff was friendly and helpful, towels changed daily and decent room overall.
- 5/5
Great place
- 1/5
The room was cold, and the heating wasn't working correctly. The tap faucet had a problem: if it didn't hold, then too hot water started coming—worst case.
- 4/5
yes
- 4/5
The water pressure was very low andthe temperature was not hot.
- 5/5
Clean room ,friendly staff and good price!
- 5/5
Nice and handy to downtown
- 5/5
Great service, thank you!
- 2/5
Shower water was cold, no pressure. Room stench due to carpets and window drapes.
- 1/5
The carpet smelled bad, the heating made a noise that kept me awake, and it sounded like there were mice inside. It was very noisy. I definitely wouldn't stay there again.
- 3/5

- 5/5
Yes. It’s really good
- 5/5
Good place, good location
- 4/5
Camera molto spaziosa, divano letto un po' datato ma letto e materasso comodo. La posizione è comoda per gli spostamenti e molto vicina al parco. Staff cortese.
- 4/5
Room was clean. Staff was kind and helpful. Only complaint was that the room was hot even with the heat turned off. I had to turn on the A/C to sleep comfortably in November
- 4/5
Room was clean but the building was dated. Lots of room and area had lots of food options.
- 3/5
Safe close to most things and transportation. Nice staff and clean. Cold, older and small room with few amenities.
- 5/5
Friendly staff and clean room
- 1/5
Flight was cancelled didn’t even get there. Called them to cancel and they said I had to cancel through Expedia I could not contact anyone from Expedia to help me. I think they charged me 2 nights and I didn’t even stay there
- 4/5
Good stay for a very reasonable price, unfortunately there was a lot of noise in our 12th floor room due to the heater. Other than that we still slept well on a comfortable bed, and the "kitchen" area was nice to have. My only suggestion would be to add a larger shelf above the sink and under the mirror in the small bathroom, as there was almost no place to put necessary travel toiletries.
- 4/5
Clean room everything was good close to the train line
- 4/5
AC was fine but the heater was noisy
- 4/5
AC was cool but the heater was noisy.
- 5/5
The room was charming and old fashioned in appearance. It was spotless, very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful.
- 2/5
Not as advertised.
- 4/5
Nice Hotel, great value for money, fantastic location. Staff all friendly and helpful. Rooms are a little basic and slightly dated, but clean and comfortable (bed is really comfy). Cafe downstairs is great for breakfast.
- 5/5
Great place for a quick trip
- 3/5
Carpets worn and acoustic panels needed to absorb hallway noise. Staff were amazing!!
- 3/5
It was okay. Probably wouldn’t stay there again
- 3/5
It’s a little bit dated, but the staff were great
- 2/5
Not choosing this hotel again
- 5/5
location
- 5/5
Close to the Auditorium where we saw a concert. Very convenient.
- 4/5
Clean room, front staff was very helpfulness
- 4/5
Property is outdated, old.
- 5/5
We booked room with sofa. Sofa and bed were comfortable. Very nice size room. Plenty of outlets. Nice size bathroom. Mini room with coffee maker & sink. Location of room was very good. Barely heard any noise from outside at night. Very happy.
- 3/5
No refrigerator. No desk or table in the room. Only one chair not conducive to using a laptop. Room was clean but instructions for using the radiator heat were vague. Front desk staff not friendly. Don't try to check in a little early - even fifteen minutes - they make you wait until 3 pm. Saving grace is the adjacent restaurants have suprr food & service!
- 4/5
Clean room.
- 5/5
Comfortable for an overnight stay, the staff was nice and accommodating. She was also informative about the checkout time which I had questions about. The room has seen better days but it is clean and tidy, just a bit worn. I walked to the surrounding area to get some water and takeout from a nearby restaurant in the evening, felt safe and the streets are clean.
- 5/5
Very spacious room
- 5/5
I loved the location of the hotel and how walkable it is to various places
- 5/5
Good for the money and location
- 2/5
Room smelled musty and dirty. Shower was unlevel and the TV had only 10 weird random channels. Overall isn't somewhere I would justify spending more than $80-90 a night, definitely not $200. However, the location is convenient and close to the beautiful downtown parks.
- 2/5
I was not satisfied with this hotel
- 2/5
Things were ok at this hotel. Except their mean-spiritedness on check in. I went to check in. I was told your room is ready. But if you want to access it, you have to pay an extra fee. It WAS early, but if the room is already ready, the only reason to charge like that is greed and mean-spiritedness. Why not just let people go to rooms that are ready?
- 5/5
The staff was SO wonderful!!! They always helped with ALL of my crazy questions!!! Give them a raise!!!
- 3/5
AC did not work
- 2/5
Facility did not smell good. My bathroom and room was disgusting. Train nearby and so loud it will keep you awake at night and wake you up early Would not recommend.
- 5/5
Nice staff. Quiet place to stay.
- 2/5
This was the worst room I've stayed in in Chicago, and yet it was still the same price as all the others. I reserved a king and was told king when checking in, but it was definitely a queen. Not a big deal at the time, but I could see it being an issue. No fitted sheet or mattress cover, so the flat sheets and blankets just came right off and exposed the mattress. I had to climb on the tub to pull down the blinds over the very large window in the shower. The tub wasn't fitted right, so it kept popping. There was no hot water. The bathroom was incredibly tiny; you had to smoosh into the sink to close the door to get to the toilet. And there is window AC, which I can't imagine is good enough in the summer considering I had it on the highest in October.
- 4/5
Location was great! Could use some updates! Felt safe and it was quiet
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
Nice hotel. Clean. Bed was comfortable. Very nice view of downtown. Could hear the loop train; but something you should expect if you sleep downtown!
- 5/5
I was there alone, and the room offered a convenient location with clean, comfortable accommodations.
- 3/5
Terrible!
- 1/5
Hotel removed my booking done through Expedia and had no room for us. Facility is very dated, but clean.
- 4/5
The room was a nice size. The A/C did a good job cooling off the room. There is nothing in the kitchen but a little frig with a microwave on top of it next to a sink. No dish soap. We wish there were 3 luaggage racks to put luggage on since there were 2 closets and a big bathroom and 6 could sleep in the room. Also, bring your own pillows. Theirs were rather thick and not very comfy. Otherwise, great location. We felt safe.
- 5/5
I loved this property. Great location. Quiet folks.
- 4/5
Nice staff
- 3/5
Basic, utilitarian, clean room. No frills. Bathroom was very clean. If you're a lite sleeper, the El train nearby can be a distraction.
- 5/5
All good!
- 4/5
Location to theater
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly. Hotel is older but clean. Location was very convenient for our event at the Chicago Auditorium.
- 4/5
Staff was very kind, I always got a “good morning” and “have a good day” from housekeeping. Overall very satisfied with our stay, only complaint would be the temperature of the room was a little too warm, but tolerable.
- 1/5
Says breakfast but not , terrible ac window and loud, outdated
- 3/5
市區的飯店沒有附早餐能理解,但飲水沒供應,部分房間沒有冰箱,冷氣更是老舊⋯隔音也不理想!除了離格蘭特公園近以外,找不到再次入住的理由了⋯
- 4/5
The hotel was well located and the room was clean. My only problems were two: the front desk person said I could not use my Wyndham Rewards number for credit on my 3 day stay because I booked with Expedia which I didn't -- I booked with hotel.com and don't understand why I was not able to get credit for my stay. And when I inquired about leaving a day early I was told by the front desk that I would still have to pay for my room because I had paid for all three nights when I booked with Expedia, which was incorrect. I was not billed until 10/8 when I checked out after 3 days. Otherwise the stay was fine.
- 4/5
Having a refrigerator available in the rooms would be something I would recommend.
- 3/5
Everything was average (in a good way)
- 5/5
Loved our stay there for Chicago Marathon, the best place to stay near the start/finish , room was quiet and clean but a little more ventilated would have been nice .
- 5/5
Super centric to all city amenities and near train station.
- 3/5
It’s ok
- 5/5
Very nice!! Close to subway and very walkable
- 5/5
Close to Grant Park and the Loop. Very clean and staff were friendly. We felt safe in the area and the hotel help our luggage on our last day while we visited museums. We will definitely come back and stay here!
- 5/5
The hotel was easy to locate using the metro coming from the airport. We attended a concert nearby and the location of the hotel was superb if you want to explore downtown Chicago. The Millennium Park, The Bean, and The Riverwalk were all walking distance. It takes longer if you want to walk to Soldier Field and Field Museum. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and tidy. Being a hotel in a busy area, we expected lot of traffic noise in the evening but were surprised because we didn't hear any during our stay. Highly recommended if you want to explore downtown Chicago!
- 4/5
Bus stops are close.
- 5/5
Great and very convenient for a two day trip. And clean and safe!
- 4/5
Location was great. Room was small and outdated, but clean. Front desk and cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful!
- 1/5
The staff at the front desk was great, but everything else about this place is terrible. Room is insanely outdated, our beds appeared to have bed bugs and hairs on the comforters. We spent two minutes in the room and immediately walked out and booked a room somewhere else. Stay away from this place until they clean it and updated. Like I said, the front of the house staff was nice upon arrival. Everything else about the place was terrible, and I would not recommend this place to anyone.
- 4/5
Outdated room but it was not that important to me. My only concern was that parking is not included. I must have missed that part in the description.
- 4/5
Good value for money. At downtown, one block from Red line, Harrison station (which can change to airport Blue Line at Jackson station), and walking distance to a number of museums. 24 hour restaurants near-by (including Subway).
- 5/5
Yes. I loved the stay! The staff were very nice.
- 4/5
Excellent location, easily accessible on public transit. It is an older hotel but clean and maintained well. One might want to make sure the reserved room is not facing the street as the train can be noisy if not used to it.
- 5/5
Everything was fine
- 3/5
Initial impression from modern looking lobby was tamped down quickly when we stepped of 8th floor elevator. Older building with stale odor in hallway. Confirmed once we opened the room door. Window drape short due to being right above window AC unit and gaped enough with full light coming in all night/ those who need dark conditions to sleep consider bringing mask. Read carefully - no fridge no in room microwave. Listing says there is a “shared” microwave but I never saw it. Family stays and late night popcorn sessions might be difficult No tv guide either on screen or hardcopy but if you are not spending a lot of time in room oh well. Note - The coax cable for the tv was ran exposed down a corner of the room attached with a couple of cable ties. Again only a concern for those traveling with younger kids. In room cell reception four bars never tried the onsite WiFi and no computer usage on the stay Outlets - bring a power strip if traveling with 2 or more people only four plug ins available(6 if you count the bathroom and only 2 convenient to the bed Smaller wall unit AC - we travelled late Sept early Oct but temps were in high 70s mid 80s. Room really cooled down at night. But felt warm and stuffy with stale odor each day when we returned after being gone for 8-10 hrs. As stated we weren’t there in winter, but building is old enough to use boiler heating and supply pipes are exposed in room again possible concern for families with smaller
- 5/5
Good stay. Great value.
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly and helpful fron desk employees
- 5/5
Excellent location, very helpful staff! The room (especially the bathroom) was not perfectly clean, could have done a little more thorough cleaning. But the bed was comfy, and the TV worked! Absolutely would stay again!
- 5/5
The room was noce and clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the shops and food places were located in walkable distances, and the beds were comfy.
- 5/5
Perfect budget friendly hotel for the downtown Chicago location
- 5/5
Room was not as clean as I thought it should be
- 5/5
Great location, very clean , great value. Will dtay there again. GO Bears!
- 4/5
Front desk check in staff were very friendly and helpful. Location made it easy to walk to Art Institute, Studebaker Theater, and various restaurants. Room was clean and adequate for our 2 night stay.
- 4/5
The area was actually good safe and secure. Very convenient and central location to go to all the tourist traps in downtown. You can walk and also get any transportation easily to where you need to go.
- 4/5
Good deal for long stay.
- 3/5
Humberto is the go to guy!!
- 5/5
The staff was very pleasant and everything was very clean!
- 5/5
Donetta the house keeper was awesome
- 2/5
Sucked
- 5/5
Very clean. Friendly staff. Good value for downtown Chicago. Great location.
- 3/5
I'd have been more annoyed and complainy if I'd been there longer or if I'd paid.
- 5/5
Iconic spots within walking distance. Feel safer to stay out late while in the vicinity
- 5/5
Nice place
- 4/5
For the most part it was a good stay, the hotel is really close to alot of tourist sites and a few blocks from the commuter trains. There are a lot of places to eat nearby mostly fast food. The area is mostly safe, I did walk around late at night but the later the crazier the area gets so I would suggest not walking around too late. The room was comfy but small. It isnt anything fancy but it was good for us. The staff was nice and it was nice to be able to leave my baggage there before check in but you have to tip. Overall good stay.
- 4/5
Great location. Clean, though dated room. Friendly, helpful staff. Good value for your dollar
- 5/5
Comfortable bed, bright room, good shower, very accessible location.
- 5/5
Safe, clean and comfortable! Staff is awesome.
- 4/5
Great location and close to train. Helpful staff
- 2/5
the older woman way too talk is disrespectful
- 4/5
The room was decent for the price the location was really convenient to everything easy to get around
- 3/5
Staff are nice
- 5/5
We had a great stay! Rooms are nice and had lots of space ! Its a older building but clean and staff was amazing ! Only thing there is no valet :(
- 4/5
Everything was friendly
- 1/5
I accidentally booked the wrong date for this property. They wouldn’t let me change the date at all. I get it was nonrefundable so I didn’t ask for a refund, but the property didn’t help me with the date change:
- 5/5
Good
- 3/5
Somewhat shabby but the staff were friendly and helpful
- 5/5
So the reviews are correct that it’s pretty outdated. It has an old school feel to it, but honestly it wasn’t bad at all. The receptionist was a little rude but you just gotta not match their energy and it’ll be alright. When we got back late at night security was at the door letting guests inside so it made us feel very safe. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Clean beds, they give you towels and shower gels. Yeah the train was kinda loud in the morning and you could hear sirens but if you’re really tired you won’t let it bother you so bad. Would I stay here again? Honestly yes because the price was decent and it was very close to the city which was nice. My only downside about staying here is the parking situation. I think if you’re paying to stay at a hotel there should be a complimentary parking lot to be able to park… I recommend the one across that charges 62$ for 24 hours to be turned into complimentary and then create a position for a security to make sure only hotel guests are entering in it…. Other than that, pleasant stay!
- 4/5
The best thing about this hotel is the location. Easily walkable to Grant Park, the waterfront, Symphony, Museum of Arts, etc. My room was clean. My issue... my room did not have a chair. Most hotels at least have a desk chair. I brought food back to eat. I called the front desk and asked if they could bring up a folding chair for me. They said no - my room does not come with a chair. I thought this was unreasonable. I had to sit on my bed to eat any small meals I brought back.
- 3/5
Our door was broken and rather than moving us they put in a work ticket so we had to deal with it until it was fixed. The bed of the pull out couch was in extremely poor condition and needs replaced.
- 5/5
Such a good area to catch trains and walk around, right by the water so nice!
- 1/5
I am writing to formally express my extreme dissatisfaction with my recent stay at the Travelodge by Wyndham in Chicago. I travel frequently and have always trusted Wyndham properties to uphold a certain level of quality and cleanliness, but what I experienced during this stay was far below acceptable standards. Upon checking into my room, I immediately noticed concerning issues: • The bed sheets had visible black stains. • The carpet (and bathroom floor) contained shards of glass, which I stepped on and cut my foot. • The toilet had black mold, and the bathtub was visibly dirty. • The overall cleanliness of the room was extremely poor and not fit for occupancy. When I contacted the front desk to report these issues, the staff member I spoke with was dismissive and unhelpful. She stated there was no broom available for me to address the glass on the floor myself, and her tone was extremely rude. When I explained that my sheets were dirty from the conditions, she told me I could come downstairs to get new sheets, which meant I had to replace my own bedding rather than receiving proper housekeeping service. She did not offer a new clean room. She said the cleaning staff would be in tomorrow morning to clean. She disregarded the fact that I cut the bottom of my foot open. She also was not apologetic for the situation. I want to complain. This was horrendous. To summarize: during my stay I was injured by unsafe room conditions, forced to handle cleanlin
- 5/5
Great stay. No issues. Thank you!
- 1/5
Our room was old dirty, the tub felt like we were gonna fall through it. Our bed was broken the water was cold. I said something and they said they would tell management. Won’t stay again
- 3/5
Everything about this hotel was average. Its old, bland, cramped, and just OK. But for a night or 2 it is passable.
- 1/5
The room smelled like urine! There were stains all over the carpet. The hotel room did not look like the photos. I don't think it's been painted or had new carpet for 40 years. The layout of the room was sooo weird and creepy with this weirdly cutout kitchen. It felt dirty and old. It was not representative of the photos and they wouldn't refund my money. Deeply disappointing experience. The staff was nice but said Expedia had to do the refund and they couldn't do anything. Expedia turned around and said the hotel had to do the refund and they just pointed back and forth and basically screwed me.
- 1/5
My wallet was stolen. My non-refundable room was paid for but I had no way to pay the security deposit. The manager refused to waive the deposit.
- 5/5
The location was honestly perfect! It was not far from the train station either coming from out of town. The train was my go-to transportation to get around. My room had a view of the Willis tower which was pretty cool. It’s an older building and nothing fancy, it was simple and had everything I needed for my stay. Thanks again!
- 5/5
The rooms were quiet, clean, and the bed was comfortable.
- 4/5
Overall a great experience
- 3/5
The room has all the basic amenities. I had a huge bed bug problem though. I couldn't sleep at all at night because of it. I was constantly waking up every hour and trying to get rid of them. I made the decision to not open my bag at all, otherwise they would tag along with me. I had to find accommodations elsewhere for my last night because I really couldn't sleep at all.
- 3/5
The location is amazing but the property does need some renovations ac was broken the room do need a lot of renovations but other than that it has an amazing potential to be great !
- 3/5
Good place for a convenient and economic stay. Building is in need of a remodel but our room was relatively clean.
- 4/5
Was a good room for the location and price. Beds were small but can’t complain for being $150 a night in downtown Chicago
- 1/5
Room was dirty, windows broken, window unit for heat/cooling/fan had horrible odor if you ran unit you couldn’t stay in room. We booked for 4 nights checked out after one night couldn’t get any refund it was a $800 learning experience.
- 3/5
The washbowl in the bathroom was clogged all the time and not usable at all.
- 4/5
Great price hotel in the heart of downtown Chicago, 20 min walk from the river. Has everything you want. One word of caution is that if you are a light sleeper the tram is quite close.
- 4/5
Overall it was a good stay. It was a little older but it was clean. Had a small billing concern, but they were able fix it. The room was very quiet and the staff was nice. There is 2 restaurants connected that is very convenient. I would stay there again.
- 5/5
Near to Grant Park.
- 4/5
Good location to see Chicago
- 3/5
2) Also, on Fri. 9/5 at 9:30 pm... a crowd of about 8 teenagers/young adults came in yelling and making inappropriate loud noise in the lobby (they were drunk or high) : (. and then stormed up the elev. (They got off below 10th fl)... I asked them to lower their voices and I just got insulted. Disgraceful... this low negative energy just damages your reputation. A couple of Asians with us in the elevator were frightened. It was very unpleasant, yet the attendee behind Lobby counter (who this rowdy crowd apparently knew) did NOTHING to stop them. Made your hotel feel trashy. 3) Very noisy with above ground tram in vicinity - had a very hard sleeping the 1st night especially. ; ( 4) We also had a hard time getting the shower to work (old fixture).
- 1/5
They canceled my reservation because my credit card did go through at 6pm. But I am arrived 7:20 pm. They won’t let me have the price. I ended up paying $360 instead of original price $153. Will you do something about it. So I can get my overpayment back! Thank you!
- 4/5
Water not hot enough for me....some what loud guests...bath tubs are useable...sad because they are deep... So high step in to shower in warm water. But great spot for events at the part... Near parking/train line...Friendly staff...
- 4/5
We had room #428 it was clean and it was nice that we had house keeping everyday. Our view was a fire escape out one window and a wall out the other. The carpet was from the 1960’s although we did not have any weird smells.
- 1/5
HORRIBLE!!!!!!! That building needs to be condemned. The tv didn’t work after three tries/replacements. No hot water. Mice. Lumpy beds. It was not worth $800!!!
- 3/5
they dont have hair dryer and refrigerator.
- 5/5
Great spot and area
- 3/5
Location, location, location. This is a an overpriced, outdated, rundown hotel. However, it is one of only two hotels right on Grant Park (the other being a giant Hilton that was fully booked lol). So, it was the cheaper option in the end and worked out really well for our trip to Lalapalooza!
- 2/5
Please note you must be age 21 to get your room. Most hotels are age 18 but some can require age 21 and even 25 due to location and problems they've had in the past with young people.
- 2/5
Nothing fancy, you get what you pay for. However, my room had a dirty carpet and bed. The sheets had a large yellow stain. Almost like sweat stains but I'm not sure. There were small bugs as well (not bed bugs) that were no doubt coming in from the window. There is a sizable gap between windows due to the small but incredibly noisy AC unit that was filled with a thin pad of foam that wasn't seated correctly. This also allowed the rain and an obscene amount of noise in. If you are staying in the city near the train, noise is to be expected, however the permanently open window made the experience far worse. There was no sleep to be had during my stay due to this. The hotel is affordable and the location is great. It was a twenty minute walk to Soldier field and there are plenty of restaurants, stores, and a gym near by. You can also grab a redline train by walking a few blocks which is very convenient. If you don't want to take the train, everything is an affordable Uber ride away or you can rent a bike or scooter around the corner. I can't see myself staying there again.
- 2/5
Room very small and tv did not worked. Window very dirty and looked like no Maintenance given
- 4/5
For the price I have no complaints only thing that would have been better is if they had more elevators. They seem to get busy and you can wait for minutes when trying to get an elevator.
- 5/5
Downtown
- 4/5
Helpful staff and convenient walking distances to many downtown Chicago attractions
- 2/5
Needs major overhaul. Location is great, lobby is nice, but the rooms look like they haven’t been updated in over 30 years
- 1/5
No room,
- 5/5
Stayed here for a concert and a good amount of the other bookings were also concert goers. Staff was friendly and the rooms and common areas were spotlessly clean. The hotel itself is an older building and the rooms are about as basic as they come, but we did have a fridge and microwave that was handy. For the price, easy parking, and location, I would easily stay again and recommend.
- 3/5
Overall, clean bed. Facilities were not updated but it served it’s purpose.
- 5/5
Did the job
- 5/5
Great staff
- 5/5
Awesome clerk at check in. Close to everything. Everyone we talked to was friendly.
- 4/5
great location by Buckingham Fountain
- 4/5
It was a decent stay nice for someone needing a little roomy room
- 3/5
The hotel is old and feels it! The rooms were small and the bathrooms were cramped. I know this is Chicago and it’s expensive but for the price I would have expected a nicer stay.
- 5/5
I wish there was a fridge and or microwave
- 5/5
Great
- 3/5
Walls were thin. Could clearly hear people in the next room having relations quite loudly. Could also clearly hear ppl talking in the next room. Is a good bargain for downtown Chicago, but don't expect any sort of luxury with the rooms. Cafe Luna next door is awesome though!
- 4/5
Nice
- 5/5
Hotel is very affordable, great location for events at the museum campus or Soldier Field and staff is very friendly. Hotel is older, well maintained, but utilitarian. Bed in my single room was full size.
- 4/5
It's close to everything, great staff friendly and kind, the hotel needs improvements, but it's ok
- 5/5
It was great. prime location prime everything old room but no issue. staff are the friendliest I’ve ever seen.
- 5/5
It is close to my son's school and reasonably priced.
- 2/5
Nothing good to say
- 4/5
Staff was very friendly and helpful. We had to make a change in our reservation at the last minute and they handled it all seamlessly. We will absolutely stay here again next time we are in Chicago.
