Loved the location. Loved the property , staff, amenities, and service. I did not live the brutal Chicago cold. Four below is just hateful cold weather. Want to return this summer or fall to enjoy the area. Excellent property. Definitely recommend you stay if in Chicago.

- 5/5
The Peninsula is reliably first-class: gracious, professional, guest-centric, and elegant. Perhaps management should consider running the City of Chicago so it’s worthy of the hotel.
- 3/5
Smelly hotel, unfriendly night time front desk staff. The AV did not work.
- 5/5
the staff is the absolute nicest and eficient in Chicago. Location is prime, Spa is top notch. Rooms are all extremely quiet. Shaghai Terrace has the best Peking Duck in the world, wonderful presentation, You will not regret the stay.
- 5/5
The location is also very convenient, quiet but close and walking distance to the river and the amazing restaurants. Will definitely revisit the Penninsula soon.

Excellent in every way!
- 5/5
In Chicago there is no other hotel that comes close to the comfort, location, and attentiveness of staff as the Peninsula. The value for money exceeds all other choices. Center of shopping, and restaurants. Shanghai Terrace has superb menu & service. Spa& health club and top notch & the pool is quality too. Memorable experience for the whole family or for a romantic getaway.

We had everything we needed and more! Great location for shopping and viewing a the beautiful city of Chicago.
- 5/5
Outstanding service and food. Ideally located for shopping and restaurants.
- 5/5
This is an amazing hotel. From the facilities to the staff, the food and atmosphere and the intricacies of the room itself it’s an amazing property. In the heart of what used to be “The magnificent mile” it’s unimposing from the exterior but once you step inside the place is special. If you can afford it it’s probably the best hotel in Chicago. Do yourself a favor and splurge a little on a weekend trip. Chicago is a wonderful city for food and drinks. It’s seen better days but still a beautiful city.

- 5/5
The room was comfortable and beautiful design. Comfortable bed and bedding. Large desk. Good walkable location. But we could hear sirens at night
- 5/5
Every thing was amazing
- 4/5
Hot tub was closed - notified of it 1 day before arrival. The hotel restaurant The Lobby serves frozen food for kids - they used to make the chicken nuggets. Now they just heat up the frozen dino nuggets for the kids. They figure kids won't know the difference between real food and frozen food. A departure from what is supposed to be 5 star hotel standards.
- 5/5
Nice upgrade and amazing service

The best hotel ! Always pleasant to stay !
- 4/5
Upon arrival of the person to clean it/fix it, he noticed that it was *really wet* and quite large and would take a long time to fix and be quite noisy. The gentleman asked if we would be leaving the room so they could do so without bothering us. We changed our plans to accommodate that. We ordered a bottle of champagne to celebrate while we were getting ready for our changed plans. The gentleman who brought the champagne to our room did not open it or pour it, rather just handed it to my husband. The champagne was corked and very unpleasant. We tried to call down to send it back or resolve it in some way but no one answered the phone. We did have breakfast in the morning which was FANTASTIC and the highlight of our stay.
- 5/5
Amazing staff. Sooooo clean. Top service
- 5/5
Excellent Hotel. Excellent staff and service. Excellent location.
- 5/5
The staff was great. Everybody was friendly. The room was beautifully appointed, although maybe a little too heavy on electronics. I don't think every light switch needs to be a touch pad. And there were one or two things we couldn't figure out, such as the lighted mirror on the credenza: don't know where the controls for that were hiding. These are minor issues and do not take away from the splendid funishings in the room.
- 5/5
Chicago Peninsula is an outstanding gym on the magnificent mile
- 5/5
The service was top notch from check in to check out. This is our new hotel of choice in Chicago!!!
- 5/5
Yes exceptional!
- 5/5
Clean, comfortable and up to date rooms.
- 5/5
Upon check-in, it was magical! The doormen were amazing, the 'go as often as you'd like' Santa's candy shop, overall hotel decorations and the professionalism of the staff will blow you away!!! This hotel is next level up and puts the Ritz Carlton down a notch, for sure. Our room was truly magnificent and I wish we could have stayed longer!
- 5/5
Staff and management went above and beyond, even with unnecessary actions, to express their apologies and to ensure we are compensated for small, not even worth to mention, issue during the check-in. I felt embarrassed as I really thought there was no problem at all and I really appreciate what they did and how they handled the matter.
- 5/5
Everything was above expectations
- 5/5
amazing...

Loved the location!
- 4/5
I enjoyed my experience 100% and I definitely will put this on my list of hotels to stay at again for the future
- 3/5
Staff was friendly. The room was clean. My only issue was the bed was too small for two adults who are 130 and 120 lbs. so not overweight or tall. The beds are just too small to be shared. Didn’t sleep well at all.

Emil was a fabulous server at the Lobby Restaurant. I think that’s his name. Tall guy. Becca at front desk also fantastic. The lady who checked us in not so good.
- 5/5
The Peninsula is one of my favorite Chicago hotels during the Christmas season. The decorations are beautiful, and the hotel has an elegant charm. One recommendation; air freshener in the room and throughout the hotel to help enhance the smell of the hotel. Also, breakfast servers struggled Christmas morning to wait tables. Server refilled my coffee cup with cold coffee. Delay in follow up service after food was served. Despite these small challenges it is a hotel I would definitely return too.
- 5/5
We stay in luxury Hotels around the world and this hotel is in our top 3. First class all the way.
- 4/5
Everything was just fine. However, this property does not have a lobby bar or convenient place to meet and have a drink. There is Z Bar, which appears to maybe be leased by the property to an outside group? Either way, it was not convneient. There were never seats available at the bar itself, and a 45 minurte minimim wait for one of the few tables. The patrons appeared to maybe be 50% hotel huests and 50% other.

Check-in time is 3pm. At most hotels, this means the guest can arrive at 130, 2, 230 and check in. At the Peninsula Chicago, there is a long, long line at check-in near check-in time, because they don't have rooms ready. They checked me in, but made me wait untl 4:15 for a room. Even worse, they did not give me somewhere to sit, or even a soft drink or water. Nothing. Just "sorry no rooms - we'll text you, go away." Never had such poor service.

Beautiful hotel. Great large pool. The staff very professional. They put all kind of goodies for my kids in the room. It was fantastic. I just have one complaint that was very frustrating I ordered room service breakfast. The kids waffles arrived with no whip cream as it comes with it and I also asked for it on the phone. I called it in and it took 25 for the whip cream to get to our room. So unfortunately one of my children waited because she didn’t want to eat without it. As we all ate and she had to wait. The other child just ate it plain. But for a $200 room service breakfast I don’t think I should have waited 25 minutes to get the whip cream.
- 5/5
Room is great and service has been exceptional!!
- 5/5
We will definitely keep returning to this hotel when we’re in Chicago!

Staff is always there for your every need. Excellent clean room. Quiet and luxurious
- 5/5
Room was clean. Staff are always awesome. Our favorite place in Chicago. Thank you
- 5/5
Everything was superb. The only “complaint “ I have, is that I paid for a city view room, but actually looked at the side of one building. Other than that, we lived the stay.

We ate at the Shanghai Terrace our first night on site and honestly the food was only 2 stars. Specifically the appetizers were minuscule, and 90% pastry dough. Whatever filling was supposed to be inside all the dough largely wasn’t. The whole Peking duck was arranged haphazardly on the plate, the skin was not really crispy, and the taste experience was completely lackluster. As to the main dining room the service continues, as always, to be erratic and frequently slow. Food is sometimes served hot, sometimes not. The room service on our checkout day was absolutely abysmal. We both ordered eggs Benedict and both orders were served not a degree above room temperature. The hollandaise sauce was so cold it had solidified. There really is no excuse for this. And unfortunately we did not have time to return the order as we had a plane to catch and we were running a bit behind. For an otherwise professional hotel the food service and quality is sadly lacking. It leads one to believe that the F&B manager could be a nephew, a cousin, or some other family member need of a job.
- 5/5
Clean and comfortable room, attentive staff.
- 5/5
The staff is amazing!
- 5/5
Fabulous luxury hotel! Loved the location. Great vibe enhanced by the cool contemporary art hung throughout the hotel. Room was awesome. Shanghai Terrace was extraordinary for dinner. Hotel brunch was great. Will stay there again.

Great location but a busy area

What a beautiful hotel but such a shame that every night, our hallway was filled the odor of pot. I asked 3 times about it and I guess it's allowed. I would consider a different hotel, if that's the case.
- 5/5
This is a truly luxurious hotel. I highly recommend it. You can not find a better hotel in Chicago

Just left The Peninsula Chicago, and wow. Every single detail, from the moment I walked in, felt utterly and thoughtfully anticipated. It's rare to encounter service that truly thinks of everything before you even realize you need it, but The Peninsula delivers on that promise and then some. What truly set this stay apart, however, was their refreshingly discreet approach to gratuity. In an industry where tipping often feels obligatory and sometimes awkward when the service just wasn't what was expected, The Peninsula empowers you to recognize truly exceptional service on your own terms. I thought it was a subtle but powerful statement that reinforces their confidence in their team's dedication, and believe me, it was well-earned. At checkout, I realized I didn’t have enough cash to leave for the housekeeping staff. So, I asked if I could add a tip to my bill. I watched as the front desk attendant took cash, placed it in a sealed envelope, and wrote a handwritten note on it. I asked her to include: “Thank you for making my birthday so much better.” Thank you, Maria Razumich-Zec and all the great folks at The Peninsula Chicago, for a providing a genuinely luxurious experience.
- 5/5

- 5/5
The customer service was top notch, everyone went above and beyond to make my stay an exceptional experience!! 5 Stars All around!!
- 4/5
It’s been many years since I last stayed at The Peninsula. I found the hotel to be a bit choppy and confusing now. Finding the right elevator to get to restaurants or the bar. We always had to ask staff. The small gift shop was gone. Also, and I’m sure we could have called for it, but it would have been nice to have extra shampoo and conditioner as this was a trip with my sister. The nespresso machine stopped working this morning after making three cups. Two pods were wasted hoping the first was a small glitch. Overall a good stay, great staff and location.
- 5/5
The Peninsula is an unbelievable hotel 1 block off of Moch
- 5/5
We had a wonderful stay at the Peninsula. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a nice time. We will definitely be back!
- 5/5
Attention to details. Housekeeping is stellar.

I cannot say enough about this hotel. Location is great, beautiful and well maintained, rooms are nice, good food oprioms. Staff is always friendly and professional!
- 5/5
My favorite place in the city for a staycation. ❤️

Luxurious modern hotel steps from Michigan Ave and readily accessible from the L, if coming from the airport. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Beds are extremely comfortable.
- 5/5
Great staff and amazing room.
- 5/5
Worth the price. Everything was 5 star
- 5/5
I alway live in Peninsula Chicago, everything is great, which I will back soon .
- 5/5
The Peninsula is a wonderful property. They treat you like royalty from the moment you arrive at the hotel. The service and staff are absolutely impeccable! I plan to stay here for every trip I take to Chicago!
- 5/5
Beautiful property, fantastic stay!
- 5/5
Five Star
- 5/5
Restaurant in the lobby was not open for dinner. I expected it would be open.
- 5/5
This is by far the nicest hotel in Chicago,
- 5/5
Our stay at The Peninsula Chicago was exceptional. The hotel is truly luxurious, and everything was top-notch. The only downside was that the lobby is located on the fourth floor, and only one out of the three elevators from the ground floor to the lobby was operational, which caused some delays. Other than that, everything was wonderful.
- 5/5
Excellent room, pool and staff. Nice surprise chocolate covered strawberries for our anniversary too.
- 5/5
We had a wonderful stay at the Peninsula Hotel. Very luxurious overall, top-notch service, very comfortable bed, and great location in the heart of Chicago.
- 5/5
Beyond the beauty of the hotel itself, the service couldn’t be better. Everyone was kind, patient and went out of their way for my wife’s birthday celebration. I could go on and on. I wish I knew all their names. Omar in particular is wonderful. Not to mention, it’s located within walking distance of all that downtown has to offer. The rooms are very spacious and so well appointed. It makes you want to move in. Big thanks to all the The Peninsula Chicago!
- 5/5
Excellent Hotel Period.
- 5/5
Consistently the nicest staff, wonderful relaxing ambience, so clean

- 5/5
Great location, clean. Friendly staff. Great food at Lobby restaurant
- 3/5
Hotel is so-so for a 5 star hotel. Not so glam anymore. Mold by the pool and pool floor tiles are lifting off the ground.
- 5/5
Incredible service. They went out of their way to accommodate our needs and make us feel welcome. Can’t wait to go back
- 4/5
Personal service is unparalleled. Every guest is made to feel special and I was no exception.

- 5/5
The Service at the Peninsula was exceptional!! I would highly recommend the Peninsula to everyone.
- 5/5
It is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. Phenomenal!!!
- 5/5
Amazing!
- 5/5
This was my first stay. It was more than I could even anticipate! It was pure luxury!
- 3/5
Disappointing. Rooms are very tired and in need of an update. There is no vibe. No bar with TV to watch Super Bowl. Staff was attentive nonetheless.
- 5/5
The staff was wonderful. Both me and my fiance enjoyed the room. Four stars for the bath tub. Will definitely be back for a longer stay. 12 out 10.
- 3/5
This hotel has excellent location. But for the price there are much better options in Chicago. Peninsula needs a major facelift!
- 5/5
Amazing hotel - from the service to the room. Everything about this hotel was great.
- 5/5
Love everything
- 1/5
The service was nonexistent. Everything was self serve even when inquired with the concierge desk.
- 4/5
The property is fine but does not really deserve as much credit as it gets. Everything is pretty nice, but for the price of this hotel, everything should be outstanding not just nice and clean.
- 5/5
Excellent location, excellent staff, beautiful hotel
- 5/5
However, the room was showing some wear with a small hole in the seat of a chair and some scratches on counter top.
- 5/5
The peninsula over exceeded my expectations. Every thing was clean and amazing. 10/10 highly recommend
- 5/5
Best hotel on Michigan Avenue, in my opinion
- 5/5
Staff is amazing, friendly and helpful! Valet and nice and ready! 5 star no complaints! Love the hotel
- 5/5
We had a poor experience at the flagship restaurant Shanghai Terrace however. Extremely hot and loud.
- 5/5
Love this place
- 5/5
They are very nice, attentive, at they anticipate your needs. I will be always grateful. 💯
- 4/5
I know they tried their best to make the room high tech. But it's just supposed to be functional, not complicated. Everything else in that hotel is perfect. The restaurants are perfect, but no it is not cheap. Bring a large size wallet $$$$. I would definitely stay there again. The restaurants are literally almost catty corner. Highly recommend rosebuds for italian food. It's no more than two hundred feet from the front door of the hotel.
- 5/5
All excellent
- 5/5
Everything is excellent except the water pressure in the bathroom is too weak.
