Reviews
The hotel offers a wide range of amenities, including a large gym, pool, and spa, which guests generally appreciate. However, noise from the gym and early morning exercise classes is a frequent complaint, and some guests feel the hotel caters more to gym members than hotel guests.

Amazing facility!!! Will be back

Tv only had cable. No Netflix. Lids for coffee cups in room would be helpful. If I use the paper cup, I’m probably taking it somewhere. Room temp control was not user friendly and it was super warm even set at 69.

Staff is incredible, facilities and room are very clean. Views are incredible, rooms are well equipped, there is a fridge, more than enough storage space. BUT… After two calls to the front desk during our four day stay, with the same answer - unfortunately due to how it’s constructed/layed out, you will NOT get more than 6 hours of actual sleep Reason being, the gym is open from 5a-11p and every time Andre the Giant and Hercules throw weights on the 3rd floor, the hotel guests know. It’s not the noise, which is why you get ear plugs on the bedside table, it’s the vibration it causes…and doesn’t stop during those hours.

It was nice. A little ways from the city but had some really cool amenities.

I recently stayed at your hotel on 5/2/26 for a one-night trip to Chicago to attend an event. While I found the facility to be very clean and well-maintained, I am writing to express my frustration regarding an unexpected upcharge for fitness amenities. I was shocked to find a mandatory fee added to my bill for the fitness area, which I was not made aware of prior to booking. Had I known about this charge, I would have chosen a different hotel. As a guest in town for a specific event, I had no time to use these additional amenities and was only at the hotel to rest. Because the fitness area uses card entry, it would be simple to enable access only for guests who opt-in to the service, rather than forcing a charge on every guest. As it stands, I do not believe in paying for amenities I did not use, especially without prior notice. Due to this policy, I felt compelled to leave a low rating. I would only consider staying here again if this added charge was made optional rather than a requirement of the stay. I hope you take this feedback into consideration to improve the experience for future guests. I hope you share this review with the hotel, itself, as I found this a cause for me to lower my opinion of the facility. Not everyone stay at a hotel just for the amenities; especially in Chicago.

Clean, brightly lit bathroom with a large window facing the Chicago skyline. Nice TV with good channel selection. Beautiful gym facilities with a restaurant and cafe that were great for breakfast. Quiet during the day and night in my room.
- 5/5
Fantastic accommodations! Staff was professional and detailed. Room was awesome! Definitely will rebook.
- 5/5
The hotel was perfectly as listed. There is plenty to do. The food was especially a stand out during our stay. I highly recommend if you are looking for a hotel where you can feel active.
- 5/5
Trained staff, clean, beds are too hard. Work out all day, pool, hot tub, virtual golf, its like a mini mall. Would stay again but in a different bed.
- 5/5
Enough to keep us busy. Impressed that we would stay again. However the beds are hard & flat.

Restaurant, steam room, cleanliness, exercise options Handicap room was a long walk, was pricey, and not much within walking distance.

The staff at this hotel were absolutely amazing. The lobby, gym, room, even garage were all clean and very well presented. Great location to everything and I’ll definitely stay here again!

very friendly, clean and great location to the highway.
- 5/5
Only complaint would be occasional city noise from emergency vehicles. Other than that, it was a great stay.
- 5/5
Had a great time spending the night here with my Fiance. It is an athletic club so there is a great two story fitness center / weight room. Indoor tennis courts and swimming lanes. There is a attached secure parking garage to make your trip even easier. Overall, we had no issues with our stay.

Let me be perfectly clear: A 5AM workout class RIGHT BELOW YOUR BEDROOM will SHAKE YOUR ROOM and DEPRIVE YOU OF SLEEP. My god, what a wretched experience—I wish I had read the reviews and knew ahead of time. I assumed "Hotel at Midtown" meant a relaxing, wellness-focused stay. I was wrong. I apparently booked a room *inside* a weight room. At 5:00 AM sharp—not 5:01, not 5:05, but 5:00 AM—I was violently awoken not by an alarm, but by the structural integrity of the building being tested. The gym is located directly below the guest rooms. When the morning spin class starts, the bass doesn't just travel through the air; it travels through the floorboards, up the bed frame, and into your skeleton. I didn't sign up for a spin class, but my mattress apparently did.
- 5/5
Beautiful rooms, great workout area, and shops close by! Doesn’t get any better!
- 5/5
Clean room, beautiful ambiance
- 5/5
Was able to use the gym facilities. Did 3 classes in 2 days. Gym is awesome. Breakfast was great. Clean and spacious room. Would stay there again.
- 5/5
Spotless room, amazing staff and super convenient! Everything we needed was in the club/ hotel or on the same block. Amazing steam rooms!
- 5/5
This hotel was one of the most impressive hotels ive stayed at in a very long time and the price was very low for all of the amenities! Looking to stay again soon as well as recommended to coworkers as well.
- 5/5
Clean, modern, and spacious room. Would stay here again.
- 4/5
Everything was clean and easy, only annoying aspect was how loud the gym was in the morning and hearing it in the room.
- 4/5
The room was very clean
- 1/5
Very loud noise from highway outside and gym inside the hotel. Bed is very uncomfortable, overpriced for the quality of the hotel, can’t get decent sleep
- 5/5
We enjoyed taking a break at the end of the day and sitting at the bar and grabbing a quick bite and drink.
- 5/5
Room and gym amenities amazing!
- 3/5
The property is amazing, but the members of the gym drop kettle bells and free weights from 6:30am to 11:00pm. You can hear it on both the 4th and 5th floors, even though the gym is on the 3rd floor.
- 5/5
Great staff and plenty of amenities
- 5/5
Would love to stay here again
- 5/5
Everything was great! Friend and I were in town for a concert and stayed the night here! Staff was very friendly and the room was very clean!
- 4/5
Nice hotel room. I didn't know that it was attached to a athletic club.
- 5/5
The Hotel at Midtown was a great find! Not wanting to spend huge bucks along the waterfront in tourist season, this hotel was all I could have hoped for. Located in the Midtown Athletic Club complex, the entire third floor features a classy boutique hotel with wonderful amenities, including an outdoor pool, bar, and hot tub. Access to the athletic club was included, and it had everything one could imagine and more. The restaurant on the pool floor level was a great place to start the day after a workout. I will definitely stay there again on my next trip to Chicago
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Amazing rooms. Facilities are very nice.
- 2/5
Decent hotel but wildly loud. Starting at 5am, all you can hear are people lifting in the gym directly below the hotel rooms. Also, toilet water flow is very bad and the sinks don’t drain. Wouldn’t stay here again unless it’s just for tennis and you plan to be up very early.
- 4/5
No bottled water in room. The vending machine was also out of bottled water. The vending machine was TERRIBLE!! Items were thrown into the slots backwards and upside down to where you couldn't even read what they were!
- 5/5
Great service! Quiet and clean
- 4/5
The place was very clean and staff were very helpful and courteous the only complaint we have is we had to call front desk to have maintenance come to fix our curtains because they wouldnt close all the way. The maintenence however came in timely manner and foxed the issue.
- 5/5
It was awesome, and if we ever decide to go for another concert we will definitely stay here again
- 5/5
Hotel is great with lots of amenities. Room on 4th floor. We slept fine with no disturbances. I would recommend.
- 3/5
The MAJOR drawback: In another life, I briefly worked in noise abatement. For a luxury hotel, you'll have a 55 STC (google it). Most new builds require a 50 STC or higher. I swear the STC on this place must be in the 30's (akin to the cheapest budget motel you'll ever stay at). It's literally a 2x4 with two 1/2" drywall, that's all that separates guests. I could hear my neighbors conversation clearly, every footstep from floor above me. It felt like the only thing separating all of us was a fabric curtain. And the hotel knows this because there's earplugs provided on the counter. If you're a super heavy sleeper and love working out, this is your jam. Otherwise, not worth the poor sleep.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel with great athletic amenities, food, and perfect for a stop in Chicago.
- 5/5
Property was so clean and gym/spa facilities were out of this world!
- 3/5
The gym is amazing. We used to be members and enjoy getting to use it when we come back into town. The hotel is just okay. If you are on the 4th floor you can hear all the fitness activities happening below. Our room had a curtain shower and parts of the bars in the tub were coming off the wall.
- 5/5
Stayed in 4th floor. Like other reviews you can hear people in the gym below early in the morning. I'm an early riser, so was not a big deal. But would recommend 5th floor.
- 5/5

- 5/5
Overall this is a very nice hotel. It looks and feels new. Quiet rooms and a good place to get a good night's sleep. Also a great place to stay if you like to workout as the fitness amenities are top notch! Staff is friendly and helpful. The parking deck is connected to the hotel and your pass is validated as a guest.
- 5/5
I loved my stay at The Hotel at Midtown to the point I didn't want to leave! I took full advantage of the excellent athletic club, taking 2 classes, using the weights, and enjoying the sauna, steam room, hot tub, and pool. I didn't eat at the restaurant this trip but enjoyed what I got from their convenient grab & go. The hotel bar was on point too. All the staff were super friendly.
- 5/5
Went to nephew’s graduation. Midtown was a wonderful location near our family, but also gave us privacy. Staff couldn’t have been friendlier and the breakfast options were really great as well.
- 4/5
Staff not particularly helpful
- 3/5
Great property expect for the excessive noise from trainers, amplified through microphones and speakers conducting organized exercises several floors below. I stayed in the 4th floor and was woken up by 8am on the weekend due to the amplified voices. This explains why they have ear plugs in the room. But it also just penetrates the walls and reverberates.
- 5/5
The room was well equipped, modern, chic, and the facility was so nice with so much to offer.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay. Had a great time in Chicago.
- 5/5
Loved the parking adjacent and great location to enjoy local spots.
- 4/5
Great hotel.
- 4/5
The hotel was excellent except for the WIFI connection was terrible, couldn’t watch TV
- 5/5
Fantastic facilities, great view! Overall amazing experience!
- 3/5
As usual, the front desk staff was rude. I was locked out of my room and told to put on a shirt or they wouldn’t make a key for me. They sat there and waited until my soaked shirt was on before making the key. It was embarrassing to be treated like a child. A significant amount of equipment was broken, and the hot tub was out of order. The floor in my room gave us all injuries from loose wood splinters. Additionally, there were loud pounding noises in the morning at 5 am, sneaking fees, and over-policing of guests, making this hotel an unpleasant place to stay.
- 5/5
The hotel is beautiful. Everything you need is right on the property.
- 5/5
Upscale, modern hotel. Great workout facilities. Weights weren’t nearly as loud as we expected from negative reviews.
- 5/5
The bed was a little hard for our liking but it was definately the best hotel we have stayed at this year
- 5/5
Wonderful, Lovely
- 5/5
Love the workout area
- 5/5
Can’t beat the amenities that include fantastic gym, spa and cafe!
- 4/5
We stayed on the 4th floor, where you can hear ALL classes on 3rd floor. The hotel was kind enough to leave ear plugs but certainly a down fall. Hotel was very clean and well maintained. Restaurant closes rather early and the roof top bar was closed for what I can only assume was renovations? (There was a bar on 2nd floor but we were looking forward to drinks on the rooftop). Room was clean, could use more lighting in bathroom but other wise we enjoyed our stay.
- 3/5
Be prepared for loud banging from about 5 am to 10 pm. We stayed on the 5 th floor and the free weights are on the 3 rd. If they try and stick you on the 4, move!
- 5/5
There was plenty of activities to take advantage while on the property. Parking was available and easy to access.
- 5/5
Very great hotel to stay, I did leave behind a necklace. I haven't called to see if they have it yet but they haven't called me to let me know. I left it in the room. Hoping I find it in luggage somewhere, but overall great hotel, especially for gym goers
- 4/5
Too little counter space in the bathroom. Absolutely no shelf in the shower (I had to bend my 68-year-old knees all the way to pick up my soap and shampoo from the floor). Very comfortable beds. Good quality paper products. Friendly staff. Housekeeping failed to restock coffee items and replace towels.
- 5/5
I really liked everything in the facility and how I could use the exercise space too. I was hoping to use the hot tub at night after being out all day since it closed early on Sunday.
- 5/5
Loved this stay. Ashley at the front desk was so friendly and welcoming! So nice and so many amenities!
- 3/5
The stay was ok and just one employee seemed like too mad or to serious but other than that I’d was good.
- 5/5
This was the second time staying with Hotel at Midtown and I cannot wait to return. The overall experience from the staff, gym services, to the room goes above and beyond my expectations. If I lived in Chicago, I would be a member of their gym.
- 5/5
All that being said, the food and atmosphere made up for service issues. It’s a great hotel with awesome amenities. Enjoyed the spa, gym, and close proximity to the city for dining.
- 5/5
Amazing - wish I had stayed there longer. Honestly, every time I come to Chicago I’ll be staying here!
- 5/5
Room was beautiful and hotel has a lot of facilities
- 5/5
Property is beautiful and club is outstanding.
- 5/5
Nice gym and clean room
- 4/5
Absolutely enjoy staying at this property as it is close to family, however, I have started staying at some other hotels recently because of cost. I rarely use the gym facilities and the resort fee they charge just doesn't make sense for me. It is not a value-added fee if you are not going to use all the facilities.
- 5/5
Easy check in/out, friendly staff, great facilities
- 5/5
Very cool spot if you use the facility. Rooftop was great for skyline. Parking was free in garage.
- 5/5
This was my second visit to the hotel this year and it was even better than i remembered!
- 4/5
The hotel had friendly staff and was extremely clean. The exercise classes were great and there were quite a few to choose from. The gym was spotless. The only issue I had was the dropping of the weights from 5 am to 10 pm. I was on the 4th floor and it's a steady stream of noise.
- 5/5
Great place. Interesting to be in the middle of a fitness center but wish we had the time to have been able to take full advantage. Restaurant food was great also
- 5/5
Always love staying here. Convenient location to family outside of downtown, but still downtown is quickly accessible. Wish I could get a real pot of coffee delivered to my room
- 3/5
I will say the amenities in this hotel are amazing. I’d probably come back to utilize the facility but probably not to stay. For over $400/night there shouldn’t be any noise issue in the rooms and unfortunately I was woken up super early on vacation to a work out class a floor under me. I understand that this is a multi use hotel/gym and love the idea but for the price someone’s paying for a room, I’d expect better noise cancelling rooms.
- 5/5
Very clean room great hotel just know that it is attached to a giant gym with pools and tennis courts
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Super clean. Great amenities.
- 3/5
I prepaid for my stay through Expedia. I provided my credit card at checkin for incidentals. They said they would only charge $300, which would be released after checkout. They ended up charging my card over $2000, which tied up a lot of my funds that I needed on my trip. My bank ended up locking my card temporarily because they thought it was fraudulent activity. Terrible communication and customer service. The hotel was very clean and the food at the restaurant was good. The pool is extremely crowded and not kid friendly. They do have a bar near the pool, but no food/drink service at your seats.
- 3/5
Actually connected to a lovely athletic facility but if you stay on the 4th floor be prepared to hear weights dropping on the floor at all hours.

- 3/5
Tired and expensive in an inconvenient area.
- 4/5
Very clean. Easy check in/out. Pool big & clean. Poor bar out of a lot of menu items (booze). No wait staff by pool. Froze, which I’m not usually a fan of, was excellent.
- 5/5
Loved having access to the whole gym complex! Beautiful hotel!
- 5/5
Is it a health club....or is it a hotel. Both, and very well done at that. The health club and amenities are wow.
- 5/5
Not knowing the city or area pleasantly surprised. Better than expected
- 4/5
The staff was very helpful and friendly. The facility is very nice and clean. The room was a bit noisy from the health club activities which start early in the day.
- 5/5
Yeah, you get the noise and hustle and bustle and maybe an elevator run in with an aggressively fit club member… but you also get all of the incredibly impressive amenities that come with the affiliation with Midtown Athletic Club. If you book here and are at all somewhere on the fitness-curious-to-fitness-passionate scale, I highly recommend taking full advantage of the top-tier equipment, killer group classes, pool, steam and sauna, totally affordable and thoroughly well run spa, and an on-premise restaurant that is absolutely better than it should be. Beyond that, the beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean, water pressure is good, and the staff is kind. Totally solid. Parking is free! There’s easy walking access to excellent dining and plentiful bike/scooter access if you wanna venture out without the hassle of traffic. Location is prime - within striking distance of Lincoln Park, Logan Square, Wicker Park. Eat your heart out. Shop. Explore. Don’t sweat the small stuff, sweat at the gym. Enjoy The Hotel at Midtown. After our fourth visit, I know that my wife and I will keep coming back. We absolutely love it here.
- 5/5
Spa is awesome
- 4/5
Beautiful athletic club, but not really set up for travelers. Our floor must have had water damage at some point, and I tripped on carpet after existing the elevator.Staff did not alert us to early closure of dining, due to staffing issues over holiday weekend. The neighborhood is walkable to several fast food establishments after navigating busy streets The room was clean and sufficient, basic furnishings.
- 5/5
If you like to work out this hotel has a proper gym with all the amenities.
- 4/5
The property is wonderful, but unfortunately being in the gym was louder than I expected and my sleep was never good due to weights being dropped and group fitness instructors on the PA.
- 5/5
I didn’t mean to even book this as I’m not a tennis player nor was I in town for any sporting events but it was prime location to an event I had to attend and ended up being the best place I could have found. The staff were extremely nice, the market has everything and all the seating was great. The room was gorgeous with excellent views. Maybe next time I’m in Chicago I’ll bring some work out clothes and enjoy the facilities.
- 5/5
I wanna visit again. This hotel is kind of resort and I hope will visit again for my summer vacation
- 5/5
Oh and the food is AMAZING and healthy. I absolutely love this place.
- 5/5
The Athletic club is a very nice bonus!
- 5/5
Simply the best
- 5/5
This hotel is part of a very nice fitness center. It was confusing at check in, as it was a busy time at the fitness center. I liked to coffee area and the hotel guests have access to fitness center amenities. Nice modern aesthetic, with comfortable areas to lounge outside of the hotel space.
- 5/5
The service at the hotel was outstanding. The front desk personnel to the servers and hostess in the restaraunt
- 1/5
the ac did not cool the room, i complained to the front desk and they tried to give me a coupon to breakfast. i couldn’t sleep on their supposed king bed which my feet hung off, it was too hard, and the room wouldn’t cool under 71degrees. carpet in the hallway was bunched up and i almost tripped twice on it. the counters were all scratched up, tiles in the pool area were loose, i almost tripped on them too. creaky floor boards in the room. even small details in the pool and hot tub like poorly applied seals and shoddy grout work everywhere. for $350 a night, i shouldn’t have to complain about the ac, it should just work.
- 5/5
I enjoyed my stay completely
- 3/5
Everything was great except the BUMPING work out class at 8am on a Saturday. They provide ear plugs, but they don't do much for the noise and nothing for the thumping you feel.
- 3/5
The gym and pools.
- 5/5
Great hotel. Room was spacious and nicely furnished. Staff were very nice, especially Austin our waiter at the restaurant. Will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Free parking was a big bonus. It’s a very nice hotel and would definitely recommend it.
- 5/5
Great gym and pool facilities, there is some noise from people dropping weights, but it’s not very disturbing on the 5th floor. Slept through the night great.
- 5/5
Wonderful stay. The athletic club and amenities are top notch. 10/10 recommend!
- 5/5
All good
- 5/5
My stay was wonderful. Liza’s customer service was outstanding! I look forward to my next visit m.
- 5/5
Our stay at The Hotel Midtown was great! The hotel was clean and comfortable. The amenities were outstanding and everything was in working order. Great place!
- 4/5
Great hotel. Beds are hard. And restaurant doesn’t open until 8am for breakfast
- 4/5
the gym is incredible. The biggest facility I've ever seen. The problem is the noise level of the hotel on the 4th floor, directly above the fitness center. You can hear weights dropping a classes being taught at all hours of the day. So bring your earplugs!
- 5/5
There was nothing to not like I enjoyed every moment of my stay and took advantage of the amenities available. The sauna was amazing.
