The Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel Chicago Loop
About The Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel Chicago Loop
The Allegro’s storied history as a place of ambition, openness and joie de viver comes to life in modern day in the hotel’s glamorous vibes and refreshing charm. Located at the crossroads of Chicago’s backstory - government, theater, tech - and centered in the city’s beating heart, the hotel itself is well over 100 years old. Our story is rooted in the boldness of spirit that centers Chicago in practicality and ambition. The immigrant Eitel brothers purchased the hotel and, in 1924, acquired the rest of the entire south side of Randolph Street from LaSalle to Wells. With characteristic Chicago bravado, they raised and rebuilt the whole block to match their optimistic vision of the future including a 22-story office building, 2500-seat Palace Opera Theater and a 19-story hotel complete with exquisite details - including our striking marble staircase that still welcomes guests today. This vision of glamor and elegance welcomed all that was novel and new. Our four walls have hosted Vaudeville stars, tapped the first keg post-Prohibition and played headquarters to political change makers, jazz legends and movie stars. This is where you come in. Today, you’ll find no stodgy museum full of dusty historical treasure and tributes to the past. The Allegro is where vintage energy comes alive with Art Deco exuberance. Step up the sweeping staircase into the bustling Grand Lobby and feel the palpable energy of the roaring twenties. A spirit of beauty and optimism is everywhere. The decor. The historic details. The joyful service. Whether it’s champagne and popcorn in the lobby or the evening’s witty ‘Curtain Call’ cart with treasures to help you journey into dreamtime, you’ll find even the most un-thought of needs addressed by our considered details and insightful service. We can't wait to welcome you into our vibrant world to boldly create your own Chicago story, with your stay as the backdrop of the adventure.

Reviews
The hotel is praised for its beautiful decor, cleanliness, and friendly staff. However, some guests express dissatisfaction with the room size and additional fees. The location is highly appreciated for its proximity to downtown Chicago attractions.
- Beautiful decor and cleanliness
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Small room size
- Additional fees for amenities and services
- 4/5
Stay was good, clean and convenient to almost everything downtown. Building is older but very charming.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel! Great location! Professional and friendly staff from the door person to housekeeping. Great restaurant and great service. Food very good. Liked the perks. Would love to stay again when I come back.
- 5/5
The entire hotel is beautiful! I loved the aesthetic, the amenities, and the AC actually works in the rooms. I’d definitely come back and stay again. Only downfall was one elevator was under repair, limiting utility. But still amazing.
- 4/5
What needs improvement - the rooms. I am a big fan of pretty design/decor but not at the expense of functionality. The rooms are already quite small (think one step up from Club Quarters-small) so the design choices make little to no sense to me. Why are the bathroom doors 3+ inches thick with even thicker doorframes and pull out/butterfly? These should've been pocket doors. The fact that they take up space means that moving around the bed and the front door is more difficult than it needs to be. The countertop in the bathroom is already a thin slice of marble - why make it smaller with a giant but unreasonably shallow sink?? Impractical. And I had hardly anywhere to put my own toiletries (they ended up on the desk outside instead). The maintenance of the rooms; black is a very cute paint color for this aesthetic but it must be maintained. There were far too many chips and nicks and white notches all over so that made it feel old.
- 4/5
My only complaint is that It was hard to see to put on make-up. A small lighted mirror or better lighting in the bathroom is highly recommended.
- 5/5
Very polite staff. Very very clean all the way around.
- 4/5
I stayed here overnight with my spouse overnight. The location is nice, especially if you’re seeing a show. The room we stayed in was small for the price, especially the bathroom, but we enjoyed our time all the same.
- 5/5
Great location and nice rooms.
- 3/5
Stay was good. Beds were comfy. Rooms are a little outdated but wasn’t in the room that much anyways. Room was right next to the storage room so it was pretty noisy in the morning. But stay was good
- 5/5
Amazing location and amazing staff! They even allowed us to check in early since room was available. Very high scale and felt like 5 star!!
- 5/5
We have been to Chicago many times and have not done the downtown Chicago experience for a long time. We brought our dog and was very accommodating for us. Heads up there is not a lot of places to take them around the hotel though so your dog needs to be used to that. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were spacious for downtown Chicago standards. We did do a standard premier room. Great location to get to a lot of the tourist spots.
- 5/5
Decent location for walking, room was very clean, enjoyed the lounge.
- 4/5
This hotel is amazing if you don’t need a ton of space in your hotel room. It was quite small and we had trouble getting ready with only two of us in the room and kept bumping into each other
- 3/5
cant get to the breakfast areal without climbing some stairs.......not friendly for a guy with a cane.
- 5/5
Hotel was very well maintained. The staff was really friendly and welcoming.
- 5/5
Had a great stay would definitely recommend.
- 1/5
Won’t stay there
- 5/5
One of my favorite places to stay
- 5/5
Very happy with our stay.
- 4/5
Room was dusty and not cleaned well. Water pressure was eh but hotel was ok and location was great. Probably would stay somewhere else if I came back but it was fine
- 5/5
This property was amazing! In a great location, beautiful old Chicago hotel the staff was incredible and the entire state was very comfortable! The only issue I have is the destination charge which probably many hotels charge but it’s just to me a hidden cost in a way to pad the charges. When we ask what the destination charge covered, it does cover several things but nothing that was actually useful to us.
- 5/5
Had an amazing stay and absolutely loved our room and the staff- wonderful!
- 5/5
Great hotel, right in the midst of it all. Super clean & great staff.
- 5/5
Clean, well appointed room. We’re able to upgrade to a suite for a little more. Nice stay!
- 5/5
Clean room, lovely decorated
- 5/5
Overall the experience and location of the hotel was great. The hotel lobby restaurant and bar were great but The rooms need some upgrading and updating But overall very happy. The service was great all around especially especially at the bar with Mr. Rafael and Mrs. Lucy they both were great from the beginning very helpful in the sense of what places to go too very Kind and very professional. They were great to talk too and made me and wife feel very welcome. The will remember us they meet my oldest daughter Italia who was visiting her boyfriend who just finished naval school. Will definitely go back and stay at the Hotel. I will recommend it to my colleagues and family members . Thank you for everything. Dr. Eddie Suarez DC
- 5/5
Great location for the theater district!
- 5/5
I enjoy the feel and decor
- 5/5
This hotel was very welcoming and helpful at anything we needed or had questions too! Although our room was small and could have used minor touch up paint here and there. The location is perfect and everything was well kept up. We are also were welcome with a nice bottle of wine. Early Friday morning there was some mild banging, not sure what it was. All in all, would definitely consider staying again.
- 4/5
Room was small, not best view
- 4/5
The room was a bit small, but fine. The location was perfect for touring the Art Institute and seeing some show.
- 4/5
The room was on the smaller side, but it was comfortable. No coffee inside of the room so you had to go down into the lobby for complimentary coffee in the mornings. Gym was small but had everything you need to get a workout in. Overall, i would stay again for a weekend.
- 5/5
LOVED our dinner, Le Hot Dog was to die for!
- 3/5
Didn’t like the fact that we were placed in an ADA room. Not what I was expecting nor what I paid for. No coffee maker in the room. Really won’t consider staying there in the future.
- 5/5
Loved the staff and the hotel. Only thing is that hotel restaurant is not open Saturday and Sunday during normal hours.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel!!!!! Beautiful well maintained and charming! Rooms tiny though.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel in a great location.
- 5/5
There was not one thing I found to fault at this classic Chicago hotel. The staff were TOP NOTCH (hotel, valet, restaurant) (with a special shout out to Tommy Van). The room was clean and VERY comfortable. I enjoyed every minute of my stay here and hope to be back soon. I would live here if I could!
- 4/5
Staff was very friendly and accommodating, everything was taken care of right away with no questions asked! The building was a bit older than we realized, but was still well maintained with wonderful amenities and accommodations, and it’s also in a great location in the city!
- 3.5/5
It was close to the theater. The bed was comfortable, the shower was nice. The AC unit worked but the floor next to the unit was damp.
- 4.5/5
The added "resort fee.". Just add the $37 per day to the rate. Be honest about it.
- 4.5/5
Location location location!

The rooms are quite tight and tiny. Other than that, it was a great stay! But seriously — very small rooms

Superb
- 5/5
I was very late arriving because my train was 8 hours late, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful! The room was very clean and comfortable and all of that was really appreciated. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Chicago.
- 5/5
This was a great hotel for our recent trip to Chicago. We had two different reservations back to back because we combined a work trip and family vacation. The front desk staff did a great job explaining the process of managing two different reservations and room types for our stay when we checked in. They also provided a welcome bag of toys for our daughter as soon as we arrived. The staff was incredibly helpful during our stay. From the front desk providing dining recommendations to allowing us to take a couple plates from the bar to our room when we grabbed quick food to-go to storing our bags after we checked out and remembering exactly which ones were ours on the last day of our trip, everyone was incredibly helpful, friendly, and kind. I cannot say how much I appreciated each and every one of them while traveling with a young child. The rooms were very clean and the coffee and tea in the cafe each morning helped us start each day off right. The hotel is conveniently located near CTA bus and train stops as well as some of the best spots to eat, drink, and have fun in Chicago. It was a great home base for our time visiting the city. I highly recommend the Allegro Royal Sonesta Chicago Loop.
- 5/5
The showers had great pressure when I wasnt expecting it. The room was adorably decorated and the hotel itself was very clean and extremely well kept. Beautiful everywhere we went. Staff was so kind and helpful.
- 4/5
The majority of staff were very friendly and we appreciated the attention to detail. They do need to update a few things, including the pool cues, which there were only two and one was broken. Otherwise ,we had a great stay!
- 2/5
Old, beat up furniture. The room hasn’t been updated since the Truman administration.

Clean room. Good free coffee. Helpful staff
- 3/5
직원들은 매우 친절했습니다. 다만 4성 호텔이라기엔 시설이 좁고 낙후되었으며 도시소음도 적지 않았습니다.
- 5/5
Clean room. Credit towards breakfast. Conveniently located near all of the theaters for those seeing a show and near Millennium Park.
- 5/5
The Hotel is well located in downtown Chicago. We walked everywhere. The restaurant was closed for breakfast on weekends. There are many places close by to accommodate. The property is beautiful Art Deco architecture. The hallways and carpeting are tired, however, the property is clean and the staff are excellent. We would stay again when we are back in Chicago.
- 3/5
Before I go into the cons. The room has comfy beds, nice linens, has a plug in cooktop and cookware, nice perk! Great fridge and microwave, and a keurig (though the cheap k-cups made terrible coffee and the coffeemate single cups curdled in if, No remote control in the room - had to go to the desk at 10pm once we settled for the evening. Also, no way to watch TV unless you have a streaming service (had to rely on Netflix) Ran out of toilet paper by the first day of a 3 day stay, no back up roll in the room, again we had to go to the front desk late in the evening - in the pouring rain Requested extra towels, trash removal and room cleaning via the prompts offered on the TV menu and wasn't fulfilled. This was terribly inconvenient when returning at 10pm after the 3 of us were at a water park in AC all day. Called the front desk and the person who handled the call sent someone right up with towels and took away the garbage. Would have been nice to have had the sand in the room swept and the beds made - oh well. Kitchenette had dishes that were dirty / licked clean by previous occupants, dirty ones tucked under the clean dishes - some were clean (we hope). No dish soap or sponge to clean the dishes. They should have prepped for a 3 humans to spend 3 nights and make sure the dishes were clean.

Exceptional
- 5/5
Super helpful staff, and very accommodating. Great for its location, convenience, and flexibility,
- 3/5
Check in staff was disinterested, sighing and obviously put out by having to do his job. Quite a contrast to the two gentlemen who greeted us as we got off of the elevator to arrive; so bubbly and inviting.
- 4/5
Room were clean and well mainained, but lacked comfortable seating.
- 4/5
All good things except no breakfast on the weekends
- 5/5
Conveniently located in the Theater District - the staff was so friendly & the rooms were top notch… will definitely stay here again
- 5/5
It was odd that the restaurant was closed after lunch on Friday until Sunday night.
- 4/5
Very good
- 4/5
Really nice hotel. Ok for solo traveling and if not spending a ton of time in the room. Do not recommend more than 1 person in the room. It is very small and the bathroom is even smaller.
- 5/5
Clean room, nice staff
- 5/5
Great location in the city close to public transportation, restaurants, theater, shopping and more.
- 4.5/5
Location…quaintness of rooms…bed comfy Bar could open earlier on a Saturday…??

- 4/5
Very good
- 3/5
No coffee in the room, the website does not tell you the restaurant is not open on the weekend and the bedding was old and gray looking. Did not appear clean because of the very dingy color for what should have been a white blanket
- 5/5
Perfect location in the theatre district. I chose to self park and that system worked well with a validation QR code from the hotel. Rooms are small but quiet and comfortable. Staff is extremely friendly.
- 2/5
No real food or beverage service, below par
- 5/5
Comfortable and beautiful Art and fireplace in the Allegro cafe which is directly connected to lobby. This hotel is amazing…very fancy. Cafe Allegro and all the amenities.
- 3.5/5
The staff was helpful and courteous. They helped us find our misplaced Iphone. The room was dated due to chipped paint on several pieces of furniture and a musty smell. The carpet between the a/c and the bed was wet so each time I got in or out of bed my feet got wet. That was rather unpleasant but it was too late in the evening to request a change.
- 5/5
Comfortable and beautiful Art and fireplace in the Allegro cafe which is directly connected to lobby. This hotel is amazing…very fancy. Cafe Allegro and all the amenities.
- 5/5
Hotel 8s great, clean room. Friendly professional service.
- 4/5
The wine basket left for my birthday was beautiful.
- 2/5
The room was a lot smaller then expected and not clean. There was hairs all over. Being a bald man, that is a little problematic. Probably would never go back
- 5/5
Hey, the Updated? historic hotel with nice finishes. Amenities were OK. I can elevators slightly slow, but understandable, need to approve that gym the size of the hotel..
- 5/5
Lovely clean room. Friendly staff. Great location. Carpark opposite for a fee.
- 2/5
Parking and valet were great. Customer service at the front desk was unacceptable. We had an issue with a service we paid for and the gentleman at the front desk was unapologetic, rude, made it to be our fault (even though it was on them) and didn’t once try to offer apologies, kindness, or solutions. We won’t be returning.
- 5/5
Lovely hotel with good staff and lovely art deco ambience
- 3/5
Hotel needs to be remodeled, very gloomy
- 5/5
Excellent staff. Great location and hotel. We enjoyed the free morning coffee and afternoon tea.
- 5/5
Easy stay, great staff
- 4/5
Everything was very nice except the surprise additional charge $32 destination fee daily. I don’t know what that is still.
- 2/5
Our Bathroom had mold in two spots.
- 5/5
Super comfy and nice, clean. friendly staff. very ''royal'' - good location too. would stay again.
- 5/5

Everyone from the valet from my car to the front desk to the Restaurant check in check out everything was perfect perfect perfect. And there is a Starbucks shop right next-door so order your drink before you go downstairs and then you’ll won’t waste any time picking it up and heading out.
- 5/5
Great place with excellent location. Clean, felt luxe, and the bottle of wine was a nice touch.
- 5/5
Everything was good :)
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
The suite had a 2 person tub with jets & was magnificent. Black out curtains, beautiful view with multiple windows/angles, comfortable bedding, the bathroom separated the livingroom from the bedroom. Every staff member was AMAZING & I greatly appreciated their diverse, beautiful, helpful personalities. They rent out umbrellas, location was perfect for us because we found everything we wanted out of this trip within a 20 min walk or an easy to navigate train ride. I highly suggest checking out nearby places like Macy's & City Hall, The Riverwalk, The Bean. Ramen-San was the best ramen I've ever had & the window seating is great for people watching. 10/10 would visit again
- 5/5
Parking very expensive if you don’t need on and out options
- 4/5
Center, easy to access to every interesting places. Will come stay in this hotel again when next time visiting Chicago.
- 4/5
The biggest issue is that when you order a Lyft or Uber to the hotel both services automatically default to the other Sonestra location.
- 4/5

- 3/5
Rooms are very small. Windows do not open. It felt crowded on the room with 2 people.
- 5/5
Everything was great! The breakfast was hands down the best I’ve had and such a cozy experience but it’s only available on weekdays. The only con was that you have to venture out quite a bit to find breakfast on the weekends and everywhere has an +1 hour wait. I will 100% be booking again but it would have to be during the week so I could have that breakfast again.
- 4/5
The room is quite small, though nicely furnished. It was fine for me traveling by myself, but my cousin and her husband found the room very small and had difficulty getting ready for a wedding in such tight quarters. A tip for those who wants scones during their free tea & scone service in the afternoon: go early if you want a scone. They won’t replenish them once they are gone, and the staffer said they go quickly.
- 5/5
helpful friendly staff. convenient location
- 5/5
Was disappointed when I asked to check out at 12:00p in order to take a business meeting in my room. The front desk manager said he will not allow me to stay in the room until 12p. I was highly disappointed and felt that the staff did not make my needs important as your guest. The front desk manager kept over talking me on the phone when I was requesting a late check out, that registered to me as very rude and disrespectful. I recommend to retrain your staff to become more ‘hospitable’ since this is the hospitality industry. Based on this experience, I will not be returning to the Allegra in the future.
- 5/5
Suite was spacious.
- 5/5
Great location in the heart of Chicago's theater district! The hotel is also walking distance from other popular tourist sites (Millennium Park, Willis Tower, etc.). I would definitely stay here again!
- 4/5
Room and bathroom quite small. Bathroom sink tap very difficult to navigate. Window very dirty. Everything else fine, very nice bed. Staff polite and helpful.
- 5/5
The room was clean, bed was good and the only "issue" was the size of the bathroom. For long stays might be something that I would not like but the stay was only 3 nights so I would say it was perfect. Gym could use some update as well, but same logic, for shorter stays the property is amazing. Great location, near everything.
- 4/5
Great stay, would be nice to have traditional room service. Will stay again.
- 5/5
I stayed There for a little stay cation and enjoyed every moment of it
- 5/5
My arrival was pleasant. Hetal was welcoming and made me feel at home. I love the classic look of the decor. I like that this hotel was in walking distance to everything as well!
- 4/5
Stayed at Hotel Allegro and overall it was a solid choice. The location in the Loop is convenient — easy walk to theaters, restaurants, and the L. Room was clean and comfortable, staff was friendly and check-in went smoothly. Nothing really wowed me though the decor is fun but the room itself was pretty standard, and there weren’t any standout touches that would make me rave about it. Would stay again if the price was right, but it’s more “reliable” than memorable.
- 5/5
Warm welcoming the entire staff we excellent. I enjoyed the bar Ruberto was a great bartender. location is a 10/10 convenient to everything in the surrounding area. The rooms were nice and clean.
- 5/5
I have stayed twice now and made the decision that it will be my go-to downtown hotel. As a solo traveler I felt very comfortable and love the convenient location.
- 5/5
As with any place that is a sparkling jewel like the Allegro Royal Sonesta it is the exceptional quality of the staff that shines brightest in my eyes. We were well cared for from the moment we stepped in the door. Dajah greeted us kindly, but it was Shaheed that stepped up to provide suggestions and directions that helped us have the best trip ever. Until we stayed at the Allegro Royal Sonesta I had almost forgotten the luxury to be found in a grand hotel
- 1/5
Very poor experience. I was charged extra and treated very rudely. Not a place I’d ever come back to.
- 5/5
This hotel was a great experience! It has that Chicago vibe you want, but also homey. Free coffee & tea in the morning is a plus. The hotel is in a very convenient location as well. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
Excellent location. Clean updated rooms. Quiet. Speedy elevators. Nice touch with afternoon tea and scone. Ok with no breakfast service at weekends since a large Starbucks is literally next door.
- 2/5
The hotel lobby and bar are fabulous and historic but the rooms are incredibly outdated. Would not book again.
- 5/5
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff was very friendly. Room was very clean. Location is great. Look forward to returning for another stay.
- 5/5
Lined the location. The staff was very helpful. Be aware of The Legato Lounge’s hours for dinner and breakfast.
- 5/5
Great location and very nice Hotel. Would stay there again!
- 5/5
Great customer service. Staff was very friendly.
- 5/5
Very nice staff and beautiful room!!
- 5/5
A great place to stay with good location and easily accessible to the train. Staff were wonderful and the hotel was beautiful and charming.
- 5/5
Did breakfast out daily. Everything was excellent.
- 5/5
The bed was very comfortable and luxurious with fluffy pillows and soft sheets. We upgraded to a suite and enjoyed the added sitting room for hosting our friends and the large tub for soaking after a long day of seeing all the sights! We watched a storm roll through while cozy in bed. It was great! They even gave us a bottle of wine with the upgrade, which was a pleasant surprise! The location was perfect-easy walking to the theater and the river. We highly recommend this place!
- 5/5
Great idea to have coffee and tea bar instead of a coffee maker in the room.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel! The staff is so professional and welcoming. Definitely will stay here again.
- 5/5
The hotel was beautiful, staff were friendly and helpful. Would stay here again.
- 5/5
Professional friendly staff. Doggo friendly. Very nice to my pupster
- 5/5
Always love this place and it's charm. Nice rooms. Smaller but unique vibe.
- 5/5
Staff was great
- 4/5
Great hotel with excellent staff. Only negative was the that the rooms are very small. Would be tight for more than one person.
- 5/5
I enjoyed my stay. The property was very clean. The staff was very professional and very pleasant. The only reason I gave a good for amenities was because the restaurants were closed on the weekend. I did have breakfast on my last day and it was very good. I would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Easy parking , attentive and helpful staff across the board!
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
This hotel is beautiful and relaxing. The staff is attentive and the room was very clean.
- 5/5
The hotel is centrally located and easy to navigate the different neighborhoods.
- 4/5
It didn’t come with breakfast. The light in the bathroom was a little bit low. There was no comfortable chair in the room and no coffee in the room. Other than that the room was great and for the price and location. It’s good for downtown Chicago. Staff was amazing!
- 5/5
We LOVE this hotel. It was extremely clean, very quiet, and beautifully decorated. Staff was very welcoming and helpful! We look forward to visiting again!
- 5/5
Stayed here for a Broadway show. The theater was right next door!
- 5/5
This property is amazing! Great location.
- 5/5
Great staff and great location
- 5/5
Food
- 5/5
Excellent
- 3/5
Staff was friendly, however I asked to have blankets brought up to room two times (one phone call and one text) and there was no follow through. The room smelled like stale smoke. The pull out bed was awful and you could feels the bedsprings. They also offered to bring coffee to the room and when I requested a time, it was never delivered. I mentioned to from desk and they apologized and had coffee sent to room, however we were ready to check out. They did offer a late check out and staff was friendly. We were dissapointed that we couldn't pay cash, although that wouldn't have been a deal breaker. Rooms could use a little updating.
- 3/5
Very good location but very difficult to use credit
- 5/5
Check in was a breeze! The staff was so friendly and accommodating. Our room was very clean and I loved the style of it. Would definitely stay here again for another trip into Chicago.
- 5/5
Clean rooms, definitely on the smaller side but in a great area!!! Friendly staff with complimentary tea/coffee and scones!
- 5/5
Oh- BIG DISAPPOINTMENT was NO streming services in our rooms. We would have done better to bring our laptop to watch a movie to relax at night- definitely plan for not being able to watch TV without commercials and being subject to whatever is on. Felt like an overnight stay from 1996 :)
- 5/5
Nice restaurant and bar. Starbucks right downstairs. Rooms are quint, quiet. Thank you for the early check in - made our stay even better. Always our first choice!
- 3/5
There is not food on the weekends. Parking on site is by valet only - and there is a wait. Our wait was over 30 minutes as no one could get ahold of the only valet who was working on Sunday morning.
- 5/5
Very nice staff rooms were very nice and great location
- 5/5
The room was great and spacious. The staff was fabulous. We got great recommendations from food to sightseeing. They also held our luggage before and after check-in. Would stay here again.
- 4/5
Staff was extremely accommodating. The room was nice but small. It worked for what I needed though. A few dings in the walls/doors but still overall very charming. The bartender was super accommodating and made me a great drink when I told him what I liked.
- 5/5
We loved this hotel, great location, close to the river. We had dinner downstairs in the lounge and the food was delicious and service was excellent. There is beautiful art throughout the hotel. Just make sure you pause to appreciate the art!
- 4/5
Nice hotel with convenient parking in downtown. Close to loop stations and walkable restaurants, bars, shopping. Excellent staff service. Room and bathroom were small but fine for a weekend stay. Restaurant was closed on Saturday. Would stay here again.
- 5/5
Deja at the front desk was very nice
- 5/5
This place was everything we needed, central location, you can walk downtown. The staff was friendly, informative and awesome!! I would definitely stay here again. Thank you to the hotel staff for making it a great experience.
- 5/5
My 15 year old and I stayed two nights. The room was clean, and comfortable. The tv didn’t have streaming abilities but we didn’t care. Our free time was spent outside or playing pooling on the ground floor.
- 5/5
This is the second time I’ve stayed here! This location is honestly so great!! The staff were so welcoming! The property was clean! We never went without here! Tried out the restaurant and everything was great! The bar was a great place to hang and warm up with a drink before trekking in the cold for St Patrick’s Day! Seriously recommend this place 100% and when I’m back in Chicago I’ll definitely stay here! Great for families and couples!! Traveled with my significant other and my family! We had 2 different rooms and both were very spacious. Mine with a king and my family with a double bed room! Both clean, quiet, and modern!
- 5/5
Hotel was in a good location. It is in an older building, very art deco, which is incredible. The staff was welcoming. The room was good, the bed comfortable. The bathroom was small but clean. Great for business or leisure.

Great hotel. Great location
- 3/5
The main thing I need from a hotel is a comfortable bed. Our king bed was soft and saggy, no back support — not a good night’s sleep. I mentioned this to a manager, but he was unconcerned and dismissive. Also, they don’t use fitted sheets on the mattress; during the night the bottom sheet gets loose and wrinkly. Needs improvement.
- 5/5
Gorgeous decor and great staff
- 5/5
Perfect for St. Patty’s weekend!
- 5/5
I had a wonderful l time - the hotel lobby is gorgeous and our rooms were lovely as well - the bed was extremely comfortable. We were close to all the action - I hated to leave
- 4/5
Room is older but it was clean and comfortable.
- 4/5
The beds are super high. The hotel is chic and modern.
- 5/5
It is the perfect location in downtown Chicago! You can walk everywhere or take a short ride, there are plenty of great restaurants in the area, and staff is very helpful throughout the entire stay.
- 5/5
We had a wonderful stay. Was there to see a play at the Chicago theater. Would stay again. The 2 person tub was excellent
- 3/5
Room looking run down
- 5/5
Room was very clean, staff were helpful, afternoon blueberry scones were delicious!!
- 5/5
Great location! Walkable to a ton of great spots. Staff was so friendly too. The bartenders had the best customs service and personality.
- 5/5
Very clean, comfortable beds, and quiet rooms!
- 5/5
Excellent location. Clean rooms. Great staff
- 4/5
But the two bell hops who greeted up were the best ever!!
- 5/5
Great people and service
- 5/5
Room was clean & comfortable. Staff is so friendly & helpful!
- 5/5
Very engaged team, responsive and courteous. Smiles and greeting to and from destination. Felt special during this visit. Wonderful support!
- 5/5
Xxoxo
- 4/5
room was clean and staff was accommodating.
- 3/5
The staff was wonderful, building is extremely clean. The rooms are very clean. The only thing I did not like was the bathroom, it was extremely small.. like a closet , and I cannot blame the staff or the building or any of that is just how it is, but if you like big large bathrooms, like I do, this is not a place to stay and I did not care for the neighborhood. It’s good place for the musical shows. If you want to see a musical show because it’s right next-door , but I was brought up in a neighborhood not like this and so I did not feel safe walking outside at night. .. other than that it was wonderful, but I still only rated it a three and I will not go back again
- 5/5
We kept having to extend our stay as our home airport was shut down and staff made it relatively painless.
- 2/5
The room was absolutely tiny and old, outdated
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel and our room was immaculate. Best espresso martini at the bar too!
- 5/5
Loved our location, good value
- 5/5
Good service
- 3/5
The staff was nice. The room did not feel clean and felt kind of drab. Weird hours for a restaurant. My wife and I visited to celebrate her 40th birthday and watch the Phantom of the Opera next door. Perhaps it was just our room? Would like to visit again due to convenice of being next to the Cadillac Theatre.
- 5/5
Nice hotel In the loop. Clean and the staff is really friendly.
- 4/5
The look inside.
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
Good location, clean remodeled rooms
- 4/5
The staff was very helpful!
- 4/5
Courteous staff and location.
- 3/5
Everyone working was great! Someone even helped my husband with our suitcase. My only complaint is that the initial reservation said that the check in fee was going to be a certain amount and we were charged almost double. Disappointing how expensive this turned out to be.
- 5/5
Staff was very courteous, room was clean, check in & check out were a breeze. I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
The room was clean and the bed is very comfortable. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Beautiful lobby and common areas. The food was good too.
- 4/5
food selection on-site weekends (no breakfast) and hours served -was the only limiting thing and the coffee hours - had a great time!
- 5/5
Everything was wonderful
- 5/5
I love this property! If you are heading into Chicago to see a show this is such a wonderful location, one, and two the aesthetic is amazing. Love the art deco, really helped set the vibe for our weekend getaway - staff was extremely friendly and helpful any time I needed anything. 10/10 would recommend!
- 5/5
Front desk helpful and courteous.
- 5/5
The staff were very helpful and courteous. Extremely professional. Room was excellent. Shower was outstanding.
- 5/5
Clean room and friendly staff
- 5/5
Room was great
- 5/5
The room was fine. What made out stay extra special was the staff. They were attentive, helpful, and always courteous! Great location. Great area! Would definitely stay again!
- 5/5
One of the most courteous, accommodating and helpful staff I’ve ever encountered.
- 3/5
We enjoyed our stay .. purpose of stay was going to the Cadillac Theatre for a musical .. I am only giving a 4 star due to the destination fee $32 we were charged additional at hotel .. never was told at front desk check in . it was for 2 free bottles of water, Wi-fi usage and free access to fitness room - which we did not use at all .. be aware of this when you book
- 5/5
the staff was SO nice and very accommodating.
- 5/5
Staff were amazing
- 5/5
Hotel was beautiful and convenient as it was next to the theater we were attending. Staff was exceptional!
- 5/5
The staffs' kindness.
- 5/5
Great area, great staff. Room was large and comfortable
- 4/5
Room was clean and staff was so kind. Bathroom was smaller then I'm use to but it was a beautiful place to stay for a fun weekend trip.
- 5/5
We got an upgrade to a king suite. Everything was fantastic
- 5/5
Very cute decor and kind and helpful staff. Awesome location to theater and easy walk to may other places in the city.
- 5/5
The room was great and hotel centrally located. Lovely experience.
- 5/5
The room was spotless, the staff were very curteous. Great location in downtown Chicago.
- 5/5
Our upgraded suite was fabulous, especially the super comfy bedding. Only complaint was the dirty windows that diminished our fun view of the Cadillac Palace Theatre sign. Staff was also fantastic getting us up to our room when the elevators went down.
- 4/5
The staff was super friendly and helpful. The only thing stopping 5 stars was the initial arrival. There were no places to park to check in, no signs for valet that were visible.
- 4/5
Beautiful facility, great location, nice bed, good shower.
- 4/5
Staff was excellent especially Alicia in the lounge/restaurant. Rooms are small and a little worn but very clean and completely adequate. Perfect location for the theater district. We weee there for a wedding. Restaurant hours are based off of theater performances, so that's something to be aware of.
- 5/5
Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Place was clean and secure. Breakfast and dinner were available most days.
- 5/5
Great room! Clean and neat-loved the wine bottle and water! Great friendly staff!
- 5/5
Lovely hotel with excellent staff. Great location. We will be back.
- 5/5
Было все чудесно
- 5/5
Wonderful experience. Over and above our expectations.
- 5/5
Friendly staff
- 5/5
The room was clean and inviting.
- 5/5
My mom and daughter loved it!!! The room was super pretty, staff is super welcoming and kind, and the location is impeccable. Will definitely return the next time we have theatre tickets.
- 5/5
We really appreciated the helpfulness of all the staff, especially Kimberly and Chuck. We were traveling with a dog for the first time and were relieved to be in such great care.
- 4/5
The hotel and staff were great but the room itself was very small. I would stay at this hotel again if there was a bigger room.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel in a great location. Easy access to the L and many theaters. The staff are all so very friendly and helpful. Fantastic overall experience.
- 5/5
The staff was extremely helpful and quick to respond to any request. The suite was also a great and relaxing way to enjoy the weekend.
- 5/5
Everything was great, staff were great
- 5/5
Staff was outstanding!
- 5/5
Perfect location for a show at the Cadillac Theater!
- 4/5
Room was very nice. Elevators were fairly fast. Staff I spoke with were very professional and welcoming.
- 5/5
The staff was very helpful and extremely friendly!
- 5/5
Staff is amazing! Very convenient for food and shopping.
- 5/5
Staff was awesome. Great stay!
- 5/5
Staff was excellent everywhere. Beautiful hotel.
- 5/5
The food at the bar is good:)
- 5/5
Amazing stay and amenities.
- 5/5
Great staff, and cleanliness of room
- 5/5
Friendly service and clean, well maintained rooms.
- 5/5
Beautiful lobby, comfy bed, great location. Have stayed here many times. Wish they'd bring back their happy hour! But their new tea time is a cute supplement.
- 1/5
The staff was not friendly…made you feel like you were inconveniencing them by checking in/asking questions. Room was ok…there was a fee charged once getting there called a destination fee which I was unaware of and they said there was a $100 credit to use at the restaurant which I did and then was charged for it and when I asked why I wasn’t credited they were again acting like I was bothering them and in the wrong. There was no tv guide and channels were limited. Room was small and bathroom was tiny.
- 1/5
The 100 incidental the front desk told.me will be returned upon check out. I checked out today a d money is still on hold.
- 5/5
Room was amazing! Staff was very friendly and welcoming!
- 4/5
Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The staff was friendly/helpful and the room was satisfactory. However, the hotel did not appear to be overly booked and we were placed next to a mechanical room that had a terribly loud sound every so often. I’m assuming steam water pipes??? Woke us up repeatedly. There had to be equivalent rooms available in a better area.
- 5/5
Rooms were cozy and comfortable. The staff was lovely.
- 4/5
Very conveniently located. Beautiful lobby comfortable beds
- 5/5
1 bedroom Suite… The room was immaculate and spacious! Very quiet room. 2 big flat screens and a mini-fridge. I would stay here again.
- 5/5
Spacious & clean room with very comfortable beds
- 5/5
The room was small but clean and comfortable. The included bottle of wine was a nice touch.
- 5/5
Stylish, liked the tea caffe in the mornings, kind service
- 4/5
There was no breakfast and supposed to get free pastries with coffee but they said it was not available till the evening. You couldn’t get snacks with the $10 credit either! Very disappointing!
- 5/5
Friendly staff, easy check in, great location, clean
- 2/5
The room and most of the floor of around the room, smelled of stale cigarette smoke. Was informed after I had already checked in that there was no breakfast available in the morning. The hotel lobby has a nice aesthetic, but the stay was a disappointment.
- 5/5
The Staff was wonderful!!!
- 5/5
Amazing experience, went to stay there to see the phantom of the opera, amazing performance, the one thing I wish I was told when I checked in was to use my room key to operate elevator, otherwise it was an amazing stay in a historic building, I would definitely return, clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Room was small, especially bathroom doors, but
- 5/5
Staff was friendly. Had one little incident but the staff did amazing accommodating me. I will definitely return. Plus the drinks at the bar were good!
- 5/5
Okay
- 2/5
The room was not cleaned properly. We found male used condoms wrapped in the towels. I’m very disappointed.
- 4/5
Room was nice, lady who checked us in didn’t do the best job of explaining everything about our stay, felt very rushed. Service at the bar was fantastic.
- 5/5
Room was clean comfortable public spaces were inviting and beautiful staff was delightful only bad mark one of the elevators was down on a busy New Year's Eve night
- 5/5
Check-in was a breeze, even with it being busy. Not much of a view in the room, but the room itself was nice. The bed was very comfortable. My only wish is that the TV had streaming apps. Otherwise, a great stay.
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
Fast
- 4/5
Perfect location to see a show! Accommodations are what is expected for the price point. Several pre-pay parking locations nearby. We have stayed several times & staff is always helpful and friendly.
- 4/5
It was adequate for the night, but the hotel room is very small. No closet. Even smaller was the bathroom and a really strange layout you literally could not stand in front of the sink because that's where the toilet was. You have to stand off to the side and whoever put this style sink in with the faucet it's the dumbest thing I've ever seen, you can barely get your hands under the faucet to wash them. Otherwise it was in a great location for what we needed, parking kitty corner across the street was not too bad. Staff was very nice. Felt sorry for the bartender in the legato lounge that had to get drinks for about 20 some people all at the same time by himself.
- 4/5
I love the decor of the hotel. The staff was courteous Joe and Monica at the front desk and the bellman Sharik! Both were amazing and the security team was also very helpful. I loved the team. I was a bit disappointed that this wasn’t a full service hotel to get things like room service and concierge. Other than that it was lovely!
- 5/5
Excellent customer service! Right next to the Cadillac Palace Theater. Will definitely consider coming back to this hotel.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel. Very convenient to everything we were doing. Friendly staff. We will definitely stay there again
- 5/5
The staff went above to make sure everything was good we had a problem with the room and they immediately took care of it and received a new room. And a note with a treat saying that they were sorry and hope the new room was up to my satisfaction. Yes it was the valet guys all of them were very professional and remembered us as we were in and out of the hotel during the stay
- 5/5
Hotel was excellent
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, quiet and clean, and in a fantastic location.
- 5/5
The hotel was very nice and very clean. The location was great since we went to Cadillac Theatre. The staff was very friendly.
- 5/5
The staff—Monica especially—was outstanding. She was incredibly polite, helpful, and provided excellent customer service. The room was clean and quiet, and parking was very convenient. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
Everything was great from the service to the room
- 4/5
Everything was fantastic. One thing is they could've had a little more amenities at the coffee area.
- 5/5
Clean room, loved the location and amenities. Friendly staff.
- 4/5
I was surprise that no kitchen works on Fridays and Saturdays, that's all.
- 5/5
Lovely boutique hotel with a friendly and helpful staff.
- 5/5
The staff was really helpful and I thought the art deco vibe and the seating areas throughout the hotel were nice. Very clean room and bathroom and it was warm in the room despite subzero wind chills. I'll definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
The staff is very nice, Monica was so friendly and helpful at check in. The room was very clean and neat, drinks in the Legato Lounge were great as well. It's such a pretty hotel and needs to be shown more in my opinion.
- 5/5
We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Allegro. It was so clean, spacious and quiet and the customer service was wonderful. The front desk was helpful and Juribeth and Jesus made our visit to the restaurant such a delight. Give those two a raise! We will definitely be back.
- 5/5
One of the nicest hotels I’ve ever stayed in and the friendliest staff!!!
- 5/5
Staff
- 5/5
We didn’t eat breakfast there, but did eat dinner. It was delicious
- 3/5
No coffee in rooms sucks. Tiny room. Breakfast too costly. Extra fee is disgraceful. Won’t return.
- 5/5
Went out of there way to make us comfortable
- 3/5
Hotel was nice enough, they forgot to put the bottle of wine in my room. Also on the listing they say they have valet parking but not that its $80 per day with no lther parking options nearby. Additionally they (without telling you when they take your card for a security deposit) charge a Destin fee
- 5/5
All of it stood out, staff, cleanliness and amenities
- 2/5
Had requested 2 upgrades never received response. At checkin no one knew anything about it. Person checking didnt know how run
- 4/5
The shower needs some adjustment too strong of water flow and messes up the bathroom floor
- 4/5
Stylish property. Friendly, helpful staff.
- 5/5
Great place to stay
- 5/5
We did not dine at the restaurant but the set up looked nice.
- 5/5
The room was the perfect size for me and my husband. Bathroom was quite small, the room was modern. Clean rooms and the hotel was nice. Quiet place and staff was always available when needed. A good place that was not too expensive especially, if you’re looking for a place to sleep if you’re out and about all day. 10/10 Recommend and the lounge was peaceful.
- 3/5
While the room appeared clean and the bed comfortable, the hotel was chosen primarily for its location relative to the Cadillac Palace theater. I now understand why the website doesn’t show the bathrooms in their standard rooms. Also, the lack of an operating restaurant for dinner came as quite a surprise. Finally, it took a full hour to retrieve my valeted car after I checked out. All in all, not what I expected.
- 3/5
Staff was not too helpful. Valet would take up to 1hr or more to get your car - unacceptable.
- 5/5
Wonderful!!
- 5/5
Spacious and comfortable room. Beautiful lobby. Didn’t have breakfast or utilize the bar.
- 5/5
Wonderful staff
- 5/5
We will be back the rooms were beyond huge! Everything was so clean and comfortable
- 5/5
The hotel was wonderful all around, one of the receptionist was very unpleasant on a few separate occasions. Everyone else was happy to help or answer any questions we had!
- 5/5
The room was spotless! The decor breathtaking! Everything was just lovely. I can’t wait to come back.
- 5/5
Suite was surprisingly reasonable. The only negative was the restaurant is not open on Friday nights and there is no breakfast on the weekends.
- 3/5
Hotel lobby and bar were nice as were the staff. Our room was a big disappointment, smallest room I’ve ever had in Chicago and condition was tired. Chipped paint everywhere and nothing like the photo of what I booked. Not 4 stars on any level
- 5/5
The staff was friendly and efficient, the beds were so comfortable we both wanted to find out what they were to buy one for home use, the building itself is a visual treat inside and it was warm and welcoming on two very cold days! Dinner was great in the restaurant too! I am l looking forward to my next visit.
- 5/5
Great stay
- 4/5
Great hotel and facilities, only down side is that there aren’t food options daily’s. Friday to Sunday and only breakfast on Monday to Tuesday. Or something odd like that. But there is a Starbucks attached.
- 3/5
Clean room, friendly staff but check-in was complicated, due to computer shutdown!
- 5/5
Was a very nice hotel and in a great location
- 5/5
Was a great place to stay. Great service. Would recommend staying here!
- 5/5
Beautiful setting. Staff is very friendly and courteous. Easy to talk to.
- 2/5
Tiny room by elevator with musty smell and overuse of some cleaning supply/spray. Left early
- 5/5
The room was very clean. The lobby and staff were just wonderful!
- 5/5
Neat decor
- 4/5
Everything, including hot shower supply, warm and consistent air conditioning, compliment water bottles, and comfort bed, was good, except for internet access. My PC was able to connect the hotel guest network, but no content showed up on the browser. Tethering through my smartphone was OK; therefore, it must have something to do with the security level of the hotel guest network.
- 2/5
Very shabby rooms. Bad lighting, looks dirty.
- 5/5
We had an excellent stay at the Allegro Sonesta in Chicago! The rooms were spotless and very comfortable, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The hotel has a stylish atmosphere with great amenities, and its location made it easy to explore the city. Would definitely stay here again — highly recommended!
- 5/5
Alll the staff was lovely, from the desk clerk to the valet. Room was very comfortable and the location was terrific!
- 1/5
Room was not clean. I stayed there for two days and didn’t want to use the shower. Furniture was extremely old and smelly
- 5/5
Room was very clean and nice. Bed was very comfortable. The staff was so welcoming, from the lobby to the bar tender, server and bellman. Thank you for a wonderful stay I will return!
- 5/5
Clean room, fun bartender, great lounge, excellent location. Close to the river, theaters, and multiple lines on the CTA. Would stay here again!
- 5/5
Love the location & the staff are always great!
- 5/5
It was just a one night staycation, but this was a nice place to have a short retreat. The room was on the small side, but we were only in it to sleep. It's affordable, clean, has friendly service, and is right in the middle of the theater district.
- 5/5
Great Decor and friendly staff
- 1/5
The room was very dirty and nothing like the pictures shown. Dirty toilet seat, something spilled and dried in the shower/tub, dirty windows, we could barely see outside and the tv was placed in a corner where we couldn’t watch while in bed.
- 3/5
The rooms depicted in the picture is different than what we stayed in much smaller
- 5/5
Excellent location
- 5/5
Room was very clean, bed very comfortable and location is excellent!!!
- 3/5
Amazing but the fees is unjustifiable per night and that was not including parking. Hilton is cheaper and that’s a brand corporate name.
- 5/5
The room was very clean and staff was super friendly
- 5/5
Clean rooms, perfect location. Staff were super nice and helpful!
- 1/5
The first night I woke up to a bed bug crawling on me. I killed it, took pics, and called down. They moved us to another room but I was so nervous about more bugs that we couldn’t sleep for either night we were there. The hotel was beautiful and the staff was nice. But they acted very casual about our experience, which concerns me.
- 4/5
The offer was for gym (didn't use), 2 bottles of water, morning coffee which was watered down and tasted awful, and $10/day restaurant credit which I did not use.
- 5/5
Everything was just splendid
- 5/5
Great room view and staff
- 5/5
Fantastic hotel, great location. Highly recommended
- 2/5
Clean, excellent location downtown Chicago. Small size room with limited amenities.
- 4/5
Room was clean and nicely appointed, staff were friendly and courteous.
- 5/5
Room clean, staff very friendly and helpful
- 5/5
I absolutely had a great experience. I loved the cleanliness, they had a bathtub, and it was in a great area. My son loved it as well. The restaurant had amazing food and the staff was very professional… we will be back. The gym room was amazing too! They cleaned our room everyday. It was so fun and amazing. Thank you so much!
- 2/5
A plate of 5 shrimp cost me $25 at dinner. Absurd! I'd find better value elsewhere. This place is overhyped.
- 5/5
Had a great stay! Hotel was lovely. Staff was friendly.
- 4/5
No breakfast served on weekend
- 5/5
The hotel is beautiful and in a great location for entertainment shopping and food.
- 5/5
Amazing experience love the staff love the ambience. Looking forward to coming back.
- 5/5
All the staff were courteous and professional. Rooms were comfortable and very clean. Lobby was beautiful.
- 3/5
Room to small, old , no easy access to electric outlet,
- 5/5
Very clean, helpful staff. Very enjoable
- 5/5
I enjoyed the hotel! The bathroom was a bit smaller than expected but it was a very nice and reasonable hotel for Downtown Chicago!
- 5/5
Staff was wonderful, the room was amazing! I would have loved to stay there for a lot longer. Loved the Decor, roaring 20's theme was beautiful and fitting for the location!
- 5/5
Yes, everything was wonderful.
- 4/5
Nice esthetic
- 4/5
Breakfast wasn't available on the weekend, but the promise of scones made up for that. Unfortunately, the promise was not fulfilled. We were told by the gentleman refilling coffee that scones were only available during afternoon tea.
- 5/5
Yes-Friendly staff
- 5/5
Very lovely hotel. I will definitely be back.
- 2/5
We checked in and immediately had to leave for a concert and we got in late and went to sleep immediately. In general, the hotel is decorated very nice and check-in was easy with helpful staff. Unfortunately, in the morning before checking out we realized there were splattered stains all over the walls. Some sort of lighter colored liquid it seemed. Then my wife noticed a couple pieces of candy on the floor near her side of the bed and neither of us had bought candy. At this point we were kind of concerned how clean the room was that we just slept in, but we had to start driving so we left. My office is in Chicago so we stay in the city quite frequently, but I’m not sure we would stay here again. I did try to message the hotel on here as they had messaged me before but got no reply.
- 5/5
Great hotel
- 5/5
The room was clean, staff was very friendly. Coffee available. Overall very happy with our stay
- 5/5
Courteous staff, clean room, beautiful hotel
- 5/5
Pleasant stay and will return.
- 5/5
Staff was exceptional. Place was clean and lively. It was in the perfect location, and had so many perks. We will definitely be staying here again whenever we come back to Chicago!
- 5/5
Nice and easy check in. Clean room. Comfy bed.
- 3/5
Being treated as though we were unintelligent was insulting and having the offer ignored ensured we would never consider this hotel again.
- 5/5
Spotless room
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
very elegant, helpful staff, great location, exceptionally clean
- 3/5
Room was fine, proce a bit steep for what was provided. Restaurant was not open on the weekend for any meals.
- 5/5
What a great hotel. Excellent location to all local amenities and attractions. The hotel was outstanding in all areas. Hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel and if I’m even back in Chicago I will definitely be rebooking .
- 4/5
Comfortable clean room.. staff brought up a microwave and coffee for us! Couldn’t find the bathroom vent fan..
- 5/5
Great staff, clean, daily housekeeing
- 5/5
Out of the many hotels we’ve stayed at in Chicago, this was our best experience by far! Super friendly staff and the room was perfect!!
- 5/5
Good service
- 5/5
Everything! :D
- 5/5
Hotel great. Close to Macy’s. 3 minutes to the train station. Walkable for entire city. The destination tax is a bit of a con to be honest. $32 with $10 credit per room per night. Get coffee in the morning and afternoon tea. No scones were available during the time shown.
- 5/5
Everything was great
- 3/5
The room was one of the smallest I’ve ever stayed in. With my husband and I both in there only one person could be out of bed at a time. The restaurant was closed and the bathroom lights flickered. Bed was super uncomfortable. Surprised this place had such high reviews.
- 5/5
The staff was very welcoming and approachable. During check-in, Da'Jah was the one helping me and she did a fantastic job. Recommended local places and things to do in the area. Couldnt have asked for a better stay. The room i felt was a little small compared to what we were paying per night but it did its job sufficiently.
- 5/5
The hotel and the room are beautifully decorated. There were plenty of towels and washcloths in the bathroom. It’s weird that breakfast is only served Monday through Friday though. I’d stay here again!
- 5/5
An elegant and beautifully maintained hotel with a calm, refined atmosphere. The service is exceptionally attentive, every request is met with genuine care and professionalism. The décor feels luxurious yet welcoming, creating a perfect balance of comfort and sophistication. Ideally located close to Chicago’s main attractions, cafés, and cultural highlights, it offers both convenience and a sense of quiet retreat. A truly wonderful place to stay.
- 4/5
Hip property. Bathroom was not bright.
- 5/5
Clean room and very comfortable stay. Bath tub was great! I would stay here again.
- 5/5
Room and service was great
- 5/5
Excellent place to stay. Easy access to “L” train. In the middle of all the musical theatres. Soldier Field and Navy Pier are walking distance from the hotel.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 1/5
10 $ Credit was not added automatically to my account, I had to request several times. I was told by the receptionist that I could combine 2 days credit for same restaurant order. Restaurant food options are limited unhealthy and very expensive. Additional amount added for service and taxes and other. Credit is useless, morning coffee not warm enough and not tasty either. Property outdated.
- 5/5
Staff was great, very kind and helpful. The room was great. It was clean and tidy and I enjoyed the unique decor!
- 3/5
Bigger beds! The full size should be bigger.
- 5/5
We did not know breakfast was not served on the weekend. The over all stay was amazing!
- 5/5
Clean room close to nice restaurants and pkaces to shop. Found out that the blue line runs near the hotel about the same didtance from there parking garage to the hotel. If you dont have a lot of luggage its only 5 dollars from the airport.
- 5/5
Good enough, excellent location,

The room I was in was smaller than expected but was clean and well furnished. All of the staff that I interacted with were polite, courteous and professional at all times. Most things in Chicago are within walking distance from this hotel so it is well located in this respect. A couple of theatres are very close, one next-door, so handy in this respect. A good hotel with great staff.

Located in a convenient area. Staff were nice. Hotel was beautiful.
- 5/5
Coffee in room would’ve been nice but free in the lobby was good too.
- 5/5
My friend and I stayed one night. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. We had no issues.
- 4/5
Great lication. Courteous staff. Appreciated free coffee, tea, scones and sparkling water refills. Only cons were thin walls (noisy) and that the restaurant was closed on weekends.
- 5/5
Had a 1 BR suite for a night, and it was a great room. A large living room/dining area and then a nice separate room with a king bed and an attached bathroom. Everything was very clean and nicely appointed. Sink space is a little small in bathroom, but there's enough space to fit two small travel cases. Very comfortable bed and quiet throughout the stay. Liked the complimentary coffee in the lobby in the morning, and has a nice bar area for cocktails in the evening. Loved the area around the hotel, close to theaters, restaurants, etc. Downtown Chicago is such an incredible place with so much to do within walking distance.
- 5/5
Rooms needed some updating. Chip paint and dings in walls. Other than that it was a good stay, nice staff. Would stay again.
- 5/5
We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel, but we DID take advantage of the complimentary tea and coffee every morning, and the afternoon scones, which were a nice touch. This hotel is well-located with excellent public transport links, stylish and clean. Our double room was large and the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms don't come with kettles or coffee makers, but they advise that if you would like them, they will provide; we asked for a coffee maker and received a Keurig machine and coffee capsules which was perfect. Large TV, very comfy bed and linens, small bathroom but spotlessly clean and good shower. We won't hesitate to book this hotel again.

Great location, clean, comfortable hotel.
- 5/5
It was a beautiful property in a spectacular location. Close to transit, and walkable to everything in the loop. Would definitely stay again.
- 4/5
Restaurant hours are weird. No breakfast on the weekend? And no had or wall mirror in the bathroom
- 5/5
The breakfast service was slow as only one server was working the floor, but all else was great.
- 5/5
The beds were so comfy and the staff was so nice!
- 5/5
Great room with unique character and very helpful friendly staff
- 5/5
Rooms were clean and staff was very nice

Very kind staff, nice amenities, great location.
- 5/5
Great place
- 5/5
Nice room, spacious. Bar was great - drinks, food, service all excellent.
- 4/5
No on site parking, staff told me I could validate parking from the public parking but never told me they would charge me nightly and add a destination fee.
- 4/5
Great location. Small rooms.
- 3/5
Cleanliness okay except the air caused my asthma to flare up. The staff were great. Especially the bellmen.) No concierge. We didn’t have breakfast there. Near to theater, museums and restaurants.
- 5/5
Breakfast was great!
- 5/5
great!
- 5/5
Beautiful property, spacious lounge and bar area. Starbucks literally next door.
- 5/5
We stayed here for two nights, and I would definitely stay again. It is located next to the Cadillac Palace theater, and about a block from the Wells and Washington L stop. It was easy to take the train around the city, or walk to beautiful city views and great restaurants. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and quiet. Great for a weekend in Chicago!
- 5/5
Room was clean and comfortable. Jet doaking tub was a Great! Staff was helpful.
- 5/5
The room and service were amazing. Also shout out to Hetal, she was very kind and helpful.
- 5/5
Good quality hotel in a central location.
- 4/5
Staff was very pleasant.
- 4/5
Traditional big city hotel...keeping its eclectic style.
- 5/5
The hotel was very cool. Looks like something out of a John Wick movie. Was very clean. And the shower had great water pressure for being on the 11th floor.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff. Great at deco decor.
- 5/5
Great staff and great ambience
- 5/5
Was a nice hotel and friendly staff.
- 5/5
I always love staying here because of the area, I feel safe and also well located. The staff is always lovely and the rooms are comfy and clean
- 4/5
Great hotel within walking distance to main attractions and shopping. Very clean, staff very helpful and friendly. Train is literally right outside with several parking garages within walking distance. Perfect for staycation or weekend getaway
- 3/5
Hotel was convenient and a nice place to stay. The only thing I didn’t like was how I was pretty much forced to get vallet parking. As soon as I pulled up the vallet drivers didn’t even make me feel like I had an option to self park. But overall was a good experience just know if u use valet it’s gone take a min to get your car and if u checkout on a Sunday it could possibly take up to a hour to get your car back.

Great hotel and very friendly staff
- 5/5
Felt like royalty at a royal hotel
- 5/5
a lovely property in a great location
- 5/5
Property wasn’t as clean and updated as I expected. However, the staff was very friendly.
- 2/5
Mixed up our room with another guest
- 2/5
Location was good. Everything else was bad. The hotel is old, carpet is smelly, windows are sealed and there’s no good ventilation after taking shower, chlorine in the water smells too strong, and there’s a hidden fee after ordering online.
- 1/5
Restaurant staff and the house keepers at the hotel were rude and obnoxious. Overall not pleased with the place
- 5/5
The hotel staff were friendly and the room was quiet and clean. we had an issue with the room safe and it was fixed right away. the location was excellent for walking to all the attractions we wanted to see. Overall we were very happy with our stay.
- 4/5
Very comfortable and very well located. The only issue was that the room cleaning service sometimes forgot to remove dirty glasses and ensure the room was fully clean
- 5/5
Everything was quiet and clean
- 5/5
Staff was excellent. Decor was very elegant and classy. Enjoyed my two nights here.
- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff, would recomned this hotel!
- 5/5
We had an amazing stay for a weekend getaway.
- 3/5
Room was clean. However was unaware the size and sewer smell in the bathroom. Was put all the way to end of hall by exit door without asking if that room location would be ok. Was told by front desk ok to go to restaurant 10min before close after reconfirming we would still be serviced. Only to be aggressively greeted by staff they were closed.
- 3/5
I stay in the loop a few times a year and this is the first place I’ve left with no intention to stay again sometime in the future
- 5/5
Great location:
- 5/5
Clean room. Great location. Good service.
- 5/5
Wonderful staff, always greeting with kindness, they were welcoming and not pushy. Very informative. Loved the location. Room was historic but clean. Plenty of places to eat nearby and really close walk to the River. Felt safe every time walking at night.
- 5/5
I wish I had explored the property more!!!! It is absolutely stunning! Staff is incredibly friendly. The decor is nothing short of amazing!! The beds are probably the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept on. If I’m ever back in Chicago, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again!! 10/10!!!
- 5/5
Staff were super helpful and friendly. Hotel is very unique and sharp.
- 4/5
Unfortunately their restaurant is closed on Friday and Saturday. But bar is open. And many of the restaurants in the neighborhood are closed on Sundays. So thankfully, they reopen their restaurant on Sunday.
- 5/5
Great location, quiet upper floor room. Cute afternoon tea bar. Area didn't feel totally safe. Wish they had breakfast offering on the weekend! Would stay again!
- 5/5
Close to everything Only gripe was the rooms are little bit on the smaller side, but still a great stay
- 4/5
Cons: No coffeemakers in the rooms (complementary coffee and tea in a common area). No pool. No terrace. No microwave, I think you can ask for one. My room did not have a closet. Might be a deal-breaker for some. The train is nearby, and you can hear it at night, not loud, but can still hear it.
- 5/5
We arrived a few hours early hoping to drop our luggage, and they let us into the room early! We really appreciated this. The room was spacious and well-decorated.
- 5/5
Excellent place to stay, a lot to do around!!!!
- 5/5
Amazing hotel. Great location.
- 5/5
We truly can’t wait to come back to this hotel. Allegro is gorgeous, elegant, and comfortable. It has a fun history and was a featured stop on our Art Deco architectural tour!
- 5/5
Great place to stay, close to everything!
- 5/5
Would be super if they served breakfast on weekends.
- 5/5
Great location to subways and river. Great experience.
- 3/5
Close to lots of shopping & restaurants. But very disappointed that the hotel restaurant is closed on the weekends. Also, they charge a pretty hefty early check in fee. Will not be staying here again. Bathrooms are extremely small.
- 5/5
Clean room, free wine bottle and water bottles were provided daily. Great location! Everything within 15-20 minute walk. Omar, the bartender was excellent and super friendly! Had great suggestions on where to go to eat and entertainment and made great drinks! I would stay there again and great price too!
- 4/5
Great location. Staff were nice. Room was small and had a stale cigarette smell. Bed was comfortable
- 5/5
Clean room and helpful concierge! Great location
- 5/5
Clean, quiet, and great service. Very nice area! Close to Willis Tower, Riverwalk, subway stations, bars, and restaurants.
- 5/5
The property is Great I got married there!
- 5/5
Good room. Good location to train. Area is a little suspect
- 4/5
Great location for our event. Room was clean, comfy and elevator fast. Valet was great. Traffic in front of hotel was FAST- use caution. Trash in front of hotel doors was stepped on and over and employees did not bother to pick up. Comfy bed and pillows.
- 4/5
The elevator was super quick in either direction (up/down) for any hotel I’ve been in and was a nice little (notice) change when I was there. The bed is big and super comfy since I prefer more firm mattresses. The shower was wonderful, the whole bathroom very clean cut design.
- 5/5
Perfect
- 5/5
Close to river walk
- 5/5
Love it
- 3/5
Location and the hotel were very nice. The staff was kind and very helpful.

This hotel is right in the theater district and within walking distance of the River Walk and Millennium Park. Very convenient.
- 5/5
Amazing service and great hotel so beautiful!! And the location is perfect and walking distance to everything.
- 5/5
unique atmosphere
- 5/5
Was in town for a couple of Padre games against the White Sox. Took the Blue line in from O’Hare and then had about a minute walk from the Clark/Lake stop to the hotel. The train ride (Red line) to Rate Field was just as easy, about a 4 minute walk to the State/Lake stop and then about a 15 minute ride to and from the game. Short walk to the waterfront with a ton of restaurants within walking distance. Room was small, but clean and cozy, and all I needed for this solo trip. Would definitely stay here again if ever in Chicago.
- 5/5
Clean, great decorating, great value
- 4/5
I liked everything rooms coulda been a lil better for the price but it was excellent
- 5/5
Great location. Excellent service
- 4/5
Loved the classic luxurious hip ambience of the hotel. We had a great time and everyone was very nice. The TV in our room was old tech. Would be nice to have a smart TV to stream shows. Everything else was great.
- 5/5
I retired from Sonesta working at the corporate office and the Allegro was one of my favorite properties. It is vintage Chicago and it is beautiful. Our room was very clean and it was quiet. The lobby is so pretty. Great area in the Theatre District and very walkable with great restaurants. We will be back again to enjoy this beautiful property. The team does a wonderful job.
- 4/5
It's a nice older hotel. No free breakfast items other than coffee/tea. The 10% dining discount is hardly worth it. Go find a restaurant in the area. There are a variety of restaurants nearby. The immediate neighborhood around the hotel is a little sketchy. Especially around the Clark/Lake station. Some people might be concerned, it didn't bother me. Their refund policy is different that Expedias. I had to cancel a couple of days. Expedia contacted the hotel and arranged for a refund. I would stay there again.
