Reviews
The hotel is praised for its excellent location, cleanliness, and friendly staff. However, some guests experienced issues with room readiness at check-in, comfort of beds, and the valet service.
- Excellent location within walking distance to key areas
- Clean and well-kept hotel
- Room not ready at check-in
- Uncomfortable beds and bed sheets

Great location in downtown Chicago.
- 5/5
Awesome place
- 5/5
Everyone was friendly and wonderful very pleasant. Great location great place really enjoyed it. We definitely want to come back.
- 5/5
Great location and really cool rooms! The ceilings are high which is a nice plus for a hotel this price. Everything was super clean and the hotel felt very safe.
- 5/5
We had a 20 hr amtrak ride from New Orleans to Chicago and my wife got sick. Ms. Beverly of the front desk assisted us and help us with our early check in procedure so my wife can take a rest immediately. She was very kind and helpful also with my special needs son who is in spectrum. Overall, we will go back to this hotel and recommend them to everyone. The location is very good, staffs are so nice the hotel is so clean and family oriented place. Thank you Silversmith!!!
- 5/5
It was a great location. I was at the Chicago blues fest, and it was a one black walk to millennium Park. The beds were comfortable and the staff was great.
- 5/5
Silversmith is a nice hotel with an excellent location.
- 5/5
Great location. Beautiful room.
- 5/5
We had a great 3 night stay. I was with my son to tour colleges. We had a junior suite with two double beds. The room was spacious and clean. Only complaint would be that with the interior room, the living room portion didn’t have a window. Which was fine but I guess to give it some more light the wall had a gap at the top to let the light from the bedroom in. So it defeated the purpose of having a separate living room space as the light/noise came through as you couldn’t truly close off the two spaces from each other. Otherwise great. Nice staff. A nice property in a super convenient location to the L brown line, Millenium park, the Art Institute, etc
- 5/5
Only problem was room was not ready until 5pm. Otherwise, nice, clean hotel, great location. Beverly at front desk was great
- 5/5
The Silversmith Hotel is in a great location. Walking distance to the river, Millennium Park, and lots of museums and attractions. It was easy to take the train from the airport and walk a few blocks to the hotel. Bus and train stops right near the hotel. The room was clean and cozy. The hotel was well-maintained. The best part was the staff. They were all super helpful and welcoming. They were in touch via text before our stay and asked us if we had any requests or needs. We were able to check in a little early. They store bags for you. They give out great directions and advice on places to eat and things to see. We felt so well cared for here!
- 5/5
Charming hotel on the edge of the Loop that is close to the L-train, the Bean, & Grant park!
- 5/5
With a convenient downtown location close to public transportation and a short walk to the Art Institute, Grant and Millenium Parks, and a number of restaurants, this was a great homebase for our exploration of the city. The best part, however, was the friendly and attentive staff. They were welcoming and responsive, even with a late arrival (after midnight). The breakfast staff were friendly and kept coffee and water refills coming. Being able to grab a drink in the hotel before heading up to bed was a nice treat.
- 5/5
Great customer service, one of the ladies at the front desk was really nice, and helpful. The room was so spacious and clean. Unfortunately we only stayed 1 night there but we loved it and next time we're in Chicago we'll definitely book a room at the Silversmith
- 5/5
The staff were excellent.
- 5/5
Lucia assisted us in finding another room for the remainder of our stay (6 nights total) The high ceilings and spacious hotel rooms are a huge plus. Location is super convenient. We appreciated the daily coffee available in the mornings (nice and strong), and the water provided daily. There’s also a delicious and very poplar coffee shop right across the street - Goddess and the Baker (breakfast sandwiches, omelette, pastries, juicers, coffee, etc). There is also an authentic Japanese soufflé pancake spot right around the corner from the front of the hotel. We went multiple times during our stay. Couldn’t have asked for a better hotel experience for our first visit in the beautiful city of Chicago! We would not hesitate to stay at the Silversmith again for a future visit. Too bad the bar wasn’t too lively in the evenings, and would close pretty early (10 p.m.) most days. Even so, the bartenders and staff were still great during the times we hung out in the large seating area. We did not try the à la carte breakfast (not included in the stay) so don’t have any feedback on that.
- 5/5
Great Staff
- 4/5
Did not have breakfast but the bar was great.
- 5/5
we loved this hotel! This hotel was in walking distance to all of the touristy things we wanted to do while in Chicago. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean and beautiful.
- 5/5
Very clean, helpful, easy access to everything downtown!! Also very friendly staff :)
- 4/5
i stay here often and will continue to do so. but to up the game, replace room coffee pods and water each day without making me ask, wash the windows more frequently and provide water in the gym, fix the lights on the elevator buttons. all this makes a difference
- 5/5
Eating area well maintain Hotel location exelent Personel very helpfull
- 4/5
I didn't like the fact that the furniture is old and outdated and needs to be cleaned.
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Very clean hotel.
- 4/5
Great location
- 5/5
The front desk staff was wonderful and went above and beyond. We were treated like VIPs.
- 4/5
Nice place with friendly staff.
- 5/5
I loved how close it was to everything and the staff was so nice and attentive! I would definitely stay again :)
- 3/5
Not sure what qualifies as four-star hotel, but the outlets didn’t work, one of the towels was stained and the room (a suite) was literally feet from the train tracks. Rooms are not cleaned daily. Automatic doors don’t open in the entrance and the elevator floor lights don’t light up to show which floor you’re going to. Weird place.
- 5/5
Silversmith is in a great, walkable location with several things nearby. The hotel amenities are great and staff was friendly and helpful. Looking forward to my next visit to Chicago and will definitely stay at the silversmith again
- 3/5
酒店位置非常好,服务人员态度很好。只是房间太小。
- 5/5
the housekeeping are so sweet and nice, they deserve a rise people like them they deserve the best, Thanks for hosting us
- 5/5
When in Chicago, I always stay here. Staff are nice and so are the rooms. Hotel is located at a subway stop to and from Midway airport, and there are plenty of restaurants in walking distance. It's super close to the Art Institute and other attractions.
- 5/5
Great hotel and great place
- 5/5
I had 2 separate reservations, one through the conference that I worked, another through hotels.com so I could stay an extra day. The front desk staff was extremely helpful in making the transition between reservations absolutely seamless. I loved the room that I had, which was beautifully decorated and the included amenities of mini-fridge, coffee, bottled water and bathrobe made my stay very comfortable.
- 5/5
They had a free drink coupon which was nice. We didn’t get a chance to use it but the thought was nice.
- 4/5
Silversmith is pretty good but probably in need of some upgrades. Staff were nice and welcoming
- 4/5
Absolutely amazing!! The staff was very helpful and our room was perfect. I’m huge on sound cancelling and our room was completely silent. My only issue at all was how large the deposit was, but that isn’t a big problem! Recommend
- 3/5
Historic bldg with an outstanding location in the Loop, Chicago! Food was walking distance as was the hop on hop off bus stop and lots of shopping nearby as well. No shuttle for ORD. Breakfast not included. We stayed 6 nights and for whatever reason no one serviced the room even though we asked for it to be serviced. The hotel serves food but we were not impressed so we dined out of the hotel with a million choices nearby.
- 3/5
It wasn't a bad experience by any means, just disappointing.
- 5/5
Our initial room was right by the elevator, which wasn't ideal, but when we mentioned it to Victor, he switched us to a better room immediately without any hassle. That kind of attentive service really made a difference. A special shoutout to Lucia at the front desk — she kindly helped me with the elevator door when my hands were full of stuff. It's those small thoughtful gestures that make a stay memorable. Thank you to the team for making our week so comfortable. We truly appreciated it!
- 5/5
This was a clean and well located hotel.
- 3/5
Room was really old and dated - needs a full remodel. Location is great, right next to Millenium Park. Bar area is big and a good spot to hang out. Room, though, really needs work.
- 5/5
Fantastic hotel in a fabulous location! Easy walk to wonderful sites to see and great restaurants! Will definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
Friendly staff, they greet you when you come in, I even overheard one giving local recommendations to a couple. I liked the talk ceilings in the rooms, the bed and pillows were actually comfortable. It is located right next to a a train station which actually had a lot of street space for a drop off/pick up.
- 5/5
Had a wonderful stay— we were there for daughter’s graduation from Loyola Law— Beverly at the front desk was amazing and very helpful. Will stay again
- 5/5
Had a great stay! Friendly
- 5/5
Beautifully appointed historic building, all updated. Super convenient location- 1 block from Michigan Ave, 1-2 blocks to trains to airport, suburbs. Right next to the El but I heard no train sounds at all. Felt safe. Clean, comfortable and spacious room. Had a great stay.
- 4/5
Room and hotel are beautiful. Had a suite and the only thing I wish were different was the bathroom was finished remodeled, needs a new bath/shower to go with the room.
- 5/5
Very clean and perfect walking location to the bean and food and store options
- 5/5
Great front desk assistance!
- 4/5
Close to many attractions and shopping and nice unique hotel
- 5/5
Everything was great
- 5/5
Very clean and great location

- 3/5
Very well maintained hotel but there was a weird smell in the bathroom at first. The shower also kept too much water in the base because of slow drainage. Otherwise good experience
- 5/5
The location alone was perfect. Almost everything we wanted to see in Chicago was walking distance from the hotel.
- 5/5
The Silversmith is a lovely, historic place to stay. It’s clean and convenient, and it’s steps from the El.
- 5/5
We loved our stay here! Super convenient location to everything in downtown and Lake Michigan. The hotel was clean and well stocked and the high ceilings made the room feel much bigger. The bar downstairs was great and we were given free drink tickets each night.
- 5/5
This was a great hotel. The staff and accommodations were terrific. I really enjoyed my stay
- 5/5
Very easy to navigate to. Staff was very friendly and the room was clean.
- 5/5
Good
- 3/5
The property was fine. The lobby is very fancy, but the rooms were old. The bed side table drawer wouldn't stay shut, there were bathroom finishes coming off of the wall, mis matched light bulbs (cool and warm). Seemed kind of drab and run down.
- 5/5
We ate breakfast both mornings and it was perfect
- 5/5
The location of the property was excellent, the staff were kind and helpful, the rooms were comfortable and clean. I didn't eat breakfast or enjoy the free cocktail, so I can't comment on those.
- 2/5
“I stayed at the Silversmith Hotel Chicago Downtown from April 4 to April 9, 2026. The hotel is in a great downtown location, close to everything. However, I was surprised by a daily historic preservation fee that was added to my bill. Future guests, please make sure you know about this fee ahead of time, as it isn’t included in the room rate. While my stay was overall pleasant, I would have appreciated knowing this in advance so I could plan better.”
- 5/5
And Beverly was the best!!! She gave us great suggestions of things to do and places to eat and even helped us make reservations with discounts. I had a great time visiting Chicago and staying at the Silversmith...Ill be back, for sure!!!
- 5/5
Great staff and location. Especially loved the Valet Guy!
- 5/5
Parking was easy and valet staff were very helpful
- 5/5
We stopped at the bar after our show and she was closing up but gave us a couple glasses of wine to take to our room. We missed breakfast in our rush to get home for a commitment, so I have no comment. Security of the hotel offered a safe feeling. I liked needing the room key for the elevator and the outside door in the evening. I've decided any trip to Chicago will now mean staying at the Silversmith, hands down. 5 stars across the board!
- 5/5
Great stay for a large group for a birthday. The staff made us feel very welcome and tbe large lobby was an excellent place to hang out as a group.
- 4/5
Staff was very friendly
- 5/5
Great hotel in a very convenient location. Our room was huge and well appointed. The staff was terrific.
- 5/5
Wonderful stay for a large group! They made us feel so welcome, especially Bev who went above and beyond to make our celebration special.
- 5/5
The rooms were spacious and the beds are very comfortable. The hotel and area felt very safe. The location can't be beat with train and bus transportation steps away as well as dining and convenience stores.
- 4/5
The location of this hotel can't be beat. You are a quick walk to all CTA lines, Metra, and bus stops. You can walk to the Riverwalk, magnificent mile, and Millennium Park. The hotel room (2 double beds) had plenty of space and the beds were comfortable. The furnishings are showing some wear and tear, but all functional. Our room was on the dark side since we were on the inside facing a roof/courtyard, but we were hardly there so not a big deal for us. Beverly at the front desk was a wonderful!!!
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay mainly due to the staff! They were great and made us feel so welcome. Shout out to Beverly, Shaniqua and Enrique. We enjoyed visiting with them and they made sure all of our needs were met. We didn’t get to know the rest of the staff as well, but they were all very friendly. Location was also great! We highly recommend and we’ll stay here again in the future.
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff, nice amenities
- 5/5
Front desk staff is very nice - she helped out my daughter
- 5/5
Clean room, nice staff and the hotel was well taken care of. I'd would stay here again.
- 5/5
Excellent location, friendly staff ,sofa in your room need to go. furniture in the lobby needs change.
- 5/5
Super nice staff, nice room, great location. We really enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
Staff and room was immaculate.
- 3/5
Okay stay
- 5/5
Great experience. Great location. Would stay again any trip to Chicago.
- 4/5
Nice hotel close to the auditorium where we saw “Not for Radio”. Room was clean. Valet was easy for park and in and out privileges.
- 3/5
Gorgeous property, delicious breakfast but we were there on a 60 deg day and the heat was blasting in the room. We couldn't turn it off and were sweating all night. I had called to ask about turning it down and they said it wasn't possible as the A /C wasn't yet working. If it wasn't for that, the stay would be 5/5
- 5/5
The facility is really clean. Their breakfast was better than I expected.
- 4/5
Hotel was downtown and the check in process was easy. The room was big and nice. The bathroom was beautiful. But I noticed big stains all over the carpet when we entered so I took videos so I wouldn’t get blamed for it. It looked like a big dog diarrhea all over and the couldn’t get it cleaned all the way. The bed was big and comfortable. The TV’s are extremely old and barely have any channels to watch and there’s no streaming apps to connect to. One thing I always do when I travel is put the sign on the door because I prefer to not have random people enter our room during our stay and they don’t have that and the front desk said they wouldn’t be coming during our stay because they only do housekeeping every couple days and the next day we went to go eat and came back to find out housekeeping came into our room. Also, I have a service dog for my seizures but he is a small 2 pound Yorkie and maybe the hotel doesn’t know about ADA because they said I had to pay a deposit or fee for the dog even though I kept saying he’s a service animal. He’s trained and makes no sounds and doesn’t potty and soil carpets or anything. He’s 2 pounds so he wouldn’t make any type of mess also he doesn’t bite things. He’s a trained service dog for my needs and is allowed to be with me anywhere I go without a fee or a problem. Hotel staff should research and learn some knowledge about this for others that come
- 5/5
God as always
- 5/5
We enjoyed a spacious suite in this lovely historic hotel. The staff members were very friendly and accommodating. It's a great location, not far from the lake. It is located next to the el; however, our room was quiet. Parking is rather spendy.
- 5/5
Staff went above and beyond to make our stay welcoming. Easy parking around corner. King rooms are very big. Beds very comfortable.
- 5/5
Amazing as always, best place to stay if you use cta
- 4/5
Nice hotel but needs a little up keep
- 4/5
Excellent room, well designed and spacious
- 5/5
Clean and quiet, very attentive staff and a great location. Would absolutely return for another stay!
- 4/5
The staff were amazing. One elevator almost always never worked & there really weren't any amenities on site. Great location though.
- 5/5
Great stay overall! Clean room, very friendly and helpful staff, and a super convenient location. Everything was smooth and comfortable. Jasmine sent message the day before check in and asked anything she and her team can help. Would definitely stay here again! Highly recommended!
- 5/5
Staff was friendly, room was larger than expected, bed was comfy!
- 5/5

Room was great- fantastic location- so easy to get everywhere!
- 5/5
It was a great experience and I'd stay again
- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean and spacious well-appointed rooms in a nice central location. The bar staff was lovely!
- 5/5
This is by far one of the best hotel stays we have had. It started w/Beverly at check in. Welcoming/helpful. All staff members greeted you and asked how your stay was going. The room waa clean. The bar/restaurant was excellent. No complaints. The only thing that might have made it better would have been a microwave in our room. Would stay here again!
- 4/5
Convenient location
- 4/5
Bed was comfortable, fresh fruit at breakfast.
- 5/5
The front desk staff was amazing and had great recommendations!
- 5/5
Great spot to fit the need.
- 3/5
Hotel is OK. Convenient location. Needs some maintenance and renovation. The bar stops working around 10 pm.
- 5/5
Very welcoming staff, also attentive and helpful.
- 4/5
Beautiful place to stay and walking distance from tourist attractions. Be aware of where exactly to park. I did not pay attention and parked in the wrong parking lot - paid $62 for 1hr45min parking! Trains run until late creating some background noise but in all it was a good trip.
- 5/5
Valet parking is good overnight up to 4pm the next day. This was more affordable than paying for public parking for 2 days. And the service with the valet was exceptional. Very clean and great price for the best location.
- 5/5
Personable staff, nice clean place throughout.
- 5/5
Good staff.
- 5/5
Great stay, very happy with the hotel.
- 4/5
We enjoyed how centrally located this hotel was. Everything we wanted to do was within walking distance! The staff were not excited to be there and often felt like we were a chore. I do not recommend the breakfast as it’s fair at best.
- 5/5
Great Place to stay staff was helpful and nice
- 5/5
Staff was great, Especially the girls at the front desk!!
- 5/5
Everything stood out to me !!
- 5/5
Nice room we had the junior suite. Liked the location close to a lot of different things.
- 5/5
Everything was good!
- 5/5
.
- 5/5
Fantastic shower!
- 3/5
The room needs significant care. It was dirty, and over and above the kind of cleaning that housekeeping provides, there were stains on the wallpaper in the bathroom, debris on the floor under the bed, and dirt on the rug. The location was great, but I won’t be staying here again because the rates were too expensive for the cleaning I had to do to feel comfortable.
- 5/5
Great hotel and staff!!!
- 4/5
Front desk staff very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Beautiful Hotel. Staff was wonderful.
- 5/5
The staff

Friendly staff but the in person view did not match the photos
- 5/5
Such a GREAT experience. Lucia was a great front desk assistance person. I would definitely stay there again!
- 5/5
People are amazing in the hotel, everything special. Thank you
- 5/5
Wonder stay! Upgraded to a suite which was the perfect size!!! Love access to all things downtown Chicago! Food, entertainment and shopping! Beverly, front desk, is a true local gem! She gave us the best recommendations and super friendly!
- 5/5
Front desk was amazing! I will absolutely be back!
- 5/5
The hotel room was very nice, spacious, and clean. The staff was helpful and courteous. We greatly enjoyed our stay!
- 4/5
Nice area of the city. Easy to get around.
- 5/5
Are somewhat dated with paint and carpet, but we weren’t there to spend time in the room. So I don’t fault them for any of that. Some of the carpet is coming up from floors which is a trip hazard and should be addressed but again- not something that’s affecting their rating. The bed was very comfortable, good WiFi; excellent bathroom water pressure and very hot water which is nice. Close to the CSO, all access for the CTA and great restaurants near by. I do not recommend eating at the restaurant on site- you can be anywhere in the city in 20 minutes from the el platform so I highly Recommend staying here if you’re open to walking and exploring
- 5/5
Everyone was helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable, very spacious. And love that the hotel was close to everything. Walking distance to the bean. And bus transportation was close by also.
- 5/5
The room was very nice kept up and spacious. The staff was very courteous and very attentive. We were right where we wanted to be and walking distance to the Sears Tower and two blocks from Michigan Avenue and Millennium Park.
- 5/5
Everything was good and the staff was friendly
- 5/5
I had a great stay at Silversmith Hotel. The room was spotless and comfortable, and the staff were extremely friendly, professional, and helpful. The location is convenient, especially for business travel, and the lobby was calm and not overcrowded, which I really appreciated.
- 5/5
Room was clean. Location was excellent.

Great location and proximity to public transportation as well as the cloud gate. The room was very nice and clean. Would stay here again in the future!
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff, chose to do valet parking but realized self parking would have been just as easy and cheaper.
- 4/5
Friendly staff. Bar service slow but friendly unless you ask for a special order. They’ll get it for you but body language makes it clear it was not desired. Cleaning staff verybfirendsly and helpful.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly. Walkable to restaurants and shopping. Really enjoyed the room and the ammenities.
- 3/5
Staff was great besides when we first got to our room and requested ice the way we were instructed to, they didn’t send someone until we went to the front desk. The room had a ton of damages to the walls near the ceiling. Little decor pieces in the bathroom were broken, but still left in the room.
- 5/5
Very friendly and helpful staff
- 5/5
The staff were wonderful! The only thing I missed in the room was a desk.
- 5/5
Great location, excellent staff
- 4/5
Unfortunately our check in was a little bumpy. We got to the hotel before check in time, room wasn’t ready, but no biggie. I didn’t
- 4/5
Everything was top notch except the teeny tiny bed my husband and I had to share. We have a king bed at home. Not fun sharing a double. And we are not big people.
- 5/5
The staff were accommodating and the interior of the hotel was very cool!
- 5/5
Excellent stay
- 4/5
There was a yellow stain on the pull out bed sheets. We did not call down because my son didn’t want to sleep on it after that anyway. Will notify them when we check out. Directions for the coffee machine would be nice. It was a little foreign to us. Bed was fantastic.
- 5/5
Staff was nice and got me on a lower floor which I was extremely grateful for.
- 5/5
Our favorite place to stay in the Loop. Nice rooms. Friendly staff.
- 4/5
Clean, comfortable, convenient.
- 5/5
The staff went above and beyond for us. We got in real late after midnight and they were extremely accommodating. Since we were flying all day on my fiancé birthday i had asked for them to leave a little happy birthday note in the room when we arrived. They left a birtday card and a box of whoppers for her. That was amazing. The whole staff was top notch.
- 5/5
Clean room, amazing bathroom. Very wonderful stay. Parked in Palmer house parking garage and walked to hotel. Close to many nice restaurants and in the heart of downtown.
- 1/5
Bathrooms were not clean, I wish cleaners would really put some time in the bathrooms.
- 1/5
They over charged my debit card by fifty percent more and now making excuses for not returning back the money.
- 5/5
This hotel was great. In a perfect spot for walking the city and taking in all the sights. We had 3 of us in our group and we got the 1br with 2 queens beds and a pullout couch and it was perfect. The bar was fun and everyone we met in the staff were so friendly and helpful with suggestions on places to go and things to see.
- 5/5
The rooms were comfortable and spacious. The bed was comfortable. The vent up near the ceiling in my room needed to be cleaned. The shower was fantastic. Could have used instructions on how to use the coffee maker lol. The location was amazing! We hung out down in the lobby area and the staff were super nice. We had some shareables to eat and everything was good. We did not eat breakfast. I would recommend and stay here again.
- 5/5
Didn't eat breakfast at the hotel cause went to wildberry pancakes and Cafe but everything else was great
- 3/5
Room was not as clean as it should have been. Found Stains sheets and trash behind furniture.
- 5/5
Clean room, attentive staff, great lounge!
- 4/5
Nice room, wonderful staff, lovely bar/restaurant area.
- 5/5
Staff was really nice
- 5/5
Location is amazing - room had everything we need and was very cozy. Loved the drink vouchers for the bar also! Had a blast and will be back.
- 4/5
Hotel is beautiful, staff was very kind.

Props to valet—it was so cold, and he was doing a stellar job.

- 4/5
The room was clean including the bathroom. Nice big bath towels. Comfortable bed. The sofa was in
- 5/5
Beautiful old hotel convenient to downtown . Wonderful rooms and great onsite dining. You can hear the trains outside from pretty much every room but I found it acceptable noise level.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel. Conveniently location for destinations. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
Super nice staff, room was clean and well supplied. I liked the view, and of course the location was excellent for downtown Loop visiting.
- 5/5
The staff is so friendly and helpful. We now have stayed here twice and enjoy the hotel.
- 5/5
Walked to Millers Pub for Tom and Jerry’s, went to the Kringle market and rode the train to Wrigley felt very safe in the area. Room was clean and beautiful and you could feel the history of the hotel as soon as you walked in will definitely be staying again!!!!
- 5/5
Awesome stay in an amazing room - lobby and bar/restaurant area were excellent as well. Location was perfect for our show at the CIBC Theatre nearby.
- 5/5
Very friendly staffing. The room was clean, the location is very convenient, Restaurants bars, and landmarks on a walking distance of 2 blocks!
- 5/5
Rooms were nicely updated for a historical architectural structure. Location was convenient to mass transit and most downtown destinations for Christmas season. The staff were extremely courteous, friendly, and helpful.
- 4/5
Very nice hotel and all the staff were friendly and helpful except the host for the restaurant on Sunday morning. He was extremely rude when we approached him so we ate some place else.
- 3/5
Room was fine. The door kept beeping, as it seems the key card reader battery is maybe going bad? Also TV doesn’t work.
- 4/5
It was great !!
- 5/5
Clean room , staff was very pleasant
- 5/5
Parking was a little expensive
- 5/5
Great hotel. Very affordable for such a perfect location.
- 4/5
First of all, the staff and bartender at this hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy. We chose valet parking to ease that portion of our travels, and that aspect was very smooth and efficient. The property itself was clean and quiet, but the area around it, though convenient to shopping and dining, was a bit rundown and dirty-not to be helped in this urban area of Chicago. Our upgraded room was spacious and private, but is in need of a renovation, particularly in the bathroom, which was otherwise fine. New upgraded carpeting in the halls and foyer would also mark an improvement. All in all, it is a solid, if not fancy, choice in the Chicago Loop.
- 4/5
The staff were very kind and welcoming
- 5/5
Clean beautifulI room .
- 5/5
Close to some great restaurants and shopping.
- 5/5
Staff was AMAZING... rooms very clean
- 5/5
Would stay again.
- 5/5
Room was pretty big. Double showers, very clean. Amazing stay!
- 5/5
Convenient location and a short walk to downtown sites. Rooms are comfortable and clean. The no pet policy ensures that I return since I don’t have to worry about allergy triggers. The front desk staff and valet staff are great…friendly and professional.
- 5/5
Absolutely enjoyed the stay at the hotel. Staff are so friendly and helpful. They greeted/smiled when we walk in and out of the hotel, such a warm welcoming atmosphere, excellent hospitality. Room is spacious, good layout. The location of the hotel is easy to walk around, close to Millennium park, river walk, etc. Multiple parking garages near by. Surrounding by many stores and restaurants.
- 5/5
Very courteous, helpful staff. Nice rooms and layout.
- 5/5
We've been going there for years to bring in the holiday season.. It's close to everything.. Always a wonderful time..
- 5/5
We absolutely love the Silversmith. The location can’t be beat. You are walking distance to almost everything. The L is right out the front door if you are venturing farther. The staff and concierge Victor are top notch and the star of their staff is Renee who is the best bartender on the planet. That being said we noticed several areas that need some TLC, chipped paint(I’m sure from the carts) and torn carpet. They do collect a historic preservation fee so maybe that could be used to shine her up! Also remember to bring your charging cords and cubes. Our room had zero ports.
- 5/5
Great stay! Enrique was an absolute gem - he was all over the hotel and we were there in a big snowstorm (8 inches), he kept the sidewalk in front of the hotel cleanest in the whole city and was so nice
- 5/5
Clean, friendly staff
- 5/5
The room, the bar.
- 5/5
The staff was polite, professional yet warm welcoming, rooms spacious and luxurious decor
- 5/5
The room was clean and quiet.
- 3/5
Having said all of that, my biggest concern about this hotel is the area in which it's located. I was not comfortable walking around, especially at night. The night before we arrived a fatality/shooting occurred 2 blocks away. The first night of our stay we were accosted by a man in front of the hotel, and he followed us into the hotel vestibule continuing to harass us. As if that wasn't bad enough, the first morning of our stay there was a fatality/stabbing in the block next to the hotel. I realize the area around the hotel is out of management's hands, but I felt the level of security and visibility of hotel personnel was insufficient given the circumstances. In addition, we pre-paid our entire stay prior to arrival, and was very surprised to be presented with and additional $26 per day fee. I was told the fee covers amenities like water and a 1 free drink per room at the bar. I felt this was deceptive & should have been included as a resort fee and disclosed as part of what you pay to Expedia. There was also an additional tax we had to pay not disclosed on Expedia.
- 5/5
Excellent l! Great staff. Fantastic location. This is our go to hotel in the Loop.
- 5/5
Huge room with more than ample closet space; every corner clean; welcoming reception; nice amenities (complimentary free drink); great location (proximity to sights, shopping, restaurants).
- 5/5
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Close to millennium park and soldier field
- 4/5
The room, while did not have a view due to facing a builind, was lovely. The overhead light had a bit of a strob
- 5/5
This is wonderful hotel. Pleasant staff, super clean. The location is excellent. We have stayed here several times. It is perfect for our needs.
- 5/5
I did not use the parking lot provided. I secured a spot a little further away that was less expensive.
- 5/5
Super friendly staff with a great location.
- 5/5
The property felt very safe and the staff was highly attentive.
- 4/5
Great central location, easy to get to the trains. Clean and hotel staff were pleasant. Only problem we had was the room was VERY hot and we couldn't get the heater to change.
- 5/5
Staff and facilities were super comfortable and welcoming. I had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay again.
- 4/5
strange that shower pressure is low and water temperature is unstable.
- 2/5
Unfortunately this hotel is going downhill. I've stayed here many times over the years and used to really like it but last few times the room is not cleaned well, including some pretty gross discoveries in the bathroom. Rooms smell faintly of stale cigarette smoke. Hotel is generally starting to get shabby with carpets coming apart, wallpaper peeling, stains on the in-room furniture, elevator malfunctions, etc. The lobby and lobby bar are still nice and the free coffee in the morning is good. Staff are pleasant.
- 5/5
Check in host was amazing! So very nice. She remembered me from my last stay. Remarkable!
- 5/5
The room was very clean! The bed was very comfy! Very close to Millineum Park. Very close proximity to the L for easy transportation wherever you need to go! Would stay here again!
- 2/5
For a hotel in this price range, I expect a comfortable room and a working temperature system, not a fan in the middle of downtown Chicago. It made the stay uncomfortable and difficult to sleep. Staff were polite, but the issue wasn’t resolved. Very disappointing experience.
- 3/5
The people working at the front desk were not very friendly or welcoming.
- 5/5
Great staff and fantastic location. The space and room was clean, spacious and had everything we needed.
- 4/5
The hotel service was excellent. The room was spotless and clean, and the location of the SilverSmith Hotel is perfect. It’s in the heart of the loop, just a few blocks off Millennium Park. You really can’t ask for a better location. The only tiny pet peeve I had was that the TV and cable service were slightly outdated, but I really don’t vacation or travel to watch TV, so it was extremely minor.
- 4/5
Room was clean, staff was friendly and helpful. Great location. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Friendly. Convenient.
- 5/5
We love staying at the SilverSmith as it is always a great experience and convenient location
- 5/5
Room was lovely and clean, staff was helpful and friendly, location was convenient, lobby was comfortable and elegant.
- 4/5
Staff was great. Room was clean.
- 5/5
Nice place good location. Staff was very professional
- 5/5
Lovely hotel in a great spot!
- 5/5
Great times! Beverly is the best! All staff is friendly and helpful!
- 5/5
I’ve stayed here multiple times now and I have never been let down. Great place in a great part of the city
- 4/5
Room layout was not ideal for family to visit and was small.
- 4/5
.
- 5/5
Self parking down the street was easy.
- 5/5
The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and bathroom excellent. Given their building has some architectural significance, I'd recommend they point that out more overtly in a city known for great achitecture tours.
- 5/5
Location. Loved our corner room with the separation of the bedroom and sitting room. Pull out sofa was comfortable. Lounge/bar area was amazing. Will definitely be back!
- 5/5
Clean, comfortable with friendly staff and delicious fries
- 5/5
A very convenient location. Room was clean, quiet, well-appointed. Staff always friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
The hotel is in a very convenient location in the loop. Very walkable area close to the park and the Art Institute of Chicago, with stores and resturants nearby.
- 5/5
Very nice historic hotel in downtown Chicago.
- 5/5
The room was perfect, but the staff were absolutely amazing. Everyone was incredibly kind.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, lovely space, comfortable room. Great location close to all down Chicago. A terrific bargain for the quality of the amenities!
- 5/5
Courteous staff, very clean , great ambient, very centric to everything.
- 4/5
To close to the L train
- 5/5
Staff were wonderful. Check-in was easy & enjoyable, we chatted about their Hallowe'en pumpkins while they got us checked in (and gave each room a drink. Voucher for the bar for each nights stay). The hotel was super clean. The rooms were spacious. Within walking distance to everywhere we wanted/needed to go. The bar staff were great. Although we didn’t use the restaurant, some members of our group did and said it was enjoyable for breakfast. We had a wonderful stay and an enjoyable experience. Checkout was also a breeze.
- 3/5
I also visited the restaurant that evening. There were 3 guests at the bar when I arrived and 1 bartender. She was courteous and my cocktail was delicious and well made. I also ordered food that was well made, fresh and extremely flavorful. The staff and customer service was great each time I visited the restaurant, walked past the front desk, received a bucket of ice or received towels from the housekeeper. However, the hotel common areas and my hotel room need a deep clean. There were concerning signs of lack of upkeep throughout the property - such as dingy paint in the hallways and doorframes. I saw at least 4 different strands of hair that weren’t mine in the bathroom. There was dust on the bathroom countertop which is a concerning indication leaving me wondering if water is used regularly on the countertop. This was in addition to the dust collected inside the lamps. Overall, the staff and setup of the property is nice. But, cleanliness was below standard.
- 5/5
Very clean. Friendly staff
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, great location, helpful staff, and an exceptional price!
- 4/5
The room was cleajn, the staff was helpful. The location is absolutley perfect!!
- 5/5
The only complaint that I will have about this place is the electric toothbrush that was left on the floor by a trash can when I checked in in my room. Other than that, it was a pleasant experience. The people at this hotel were friendly, and willing to accommodate any requests requests that I had.
- 3/5
Rooms are huge and the shower is fantastic. That said, no maid service and I wasn't aware of that. Hard to comment on the service because I hardly saw any employees in 2 days. No one in the dining room, friendly bartender and quick check in but that's about it. Location is awesome but you'll have to do some of the work.
- 5/5
Clean room, all staff were awesome
- 2/5
room was listed as a king suite, with foldout couch, this could not fold out unless we moved other furniture, it did have a king bed, but overall a tiny room, not as depicted. quite disappointing. wont be back.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel. Our room was comfortable with a large bathroom. We took advantage of the quick, grab and go breakfast. Tasty and convenient. We faced the street so we had a nice view though we could hear the trains passing by all night. Very convenient location.
- 5/5
The whole experience of staying at a fantastic boutique hotel. Not only was it affordable, but it was well placed in the city and the staff were outstanding .
- 5/5
Everything was fine
- 5/5
helpful, kind and easy!
- 4/5
Nice staff. Clean room.
- 5/5
Great spot
- 5/5
All of the above!
- 5/5
Wonderful
- 5/5
Nice hotel, love the location and lobby amenities. Coffee in the morning and water during the day.
- 4/5
Beverly, Andre and Victor made our 10-person family visit great!
- 5/5
Excellent location easy to walk everywhere to restaurants sites Etc
- 4/5
Great location! Staff at reception are very helpful. The rooms are surprisingly quiet considering the busy-ness in the surrounding area. Only comment would be - My bathroom had an accessibility seat in which took up half the bathroom, given its portable I would suggest only having it in the bathroom if/when requested.
- 4/5
The hotel was within walking distance of major attractions.
- 5/5
The stars of this stay: really nice corner room, bathrobes, free drink at the bar, renovated bathrooms and Miss Beverly at the front desk. Furnishings and lobby area a little worn looking, and the L train out front of the hotel definitely added a big noise factor for me. But its proximity to the Art Institute Chicago is wonderful. Check out Miller’s for some old school Chicago dining, just steps away. I enjoyed my stay!!
- 4/5
The staff was AMAZING! Beverly and Rene at the front desk both went above and beyond to help me get what I needed to settle on. Both were warm, welcoming, and friendly. Renee at the bar was super sweet as well. The guys at the valet (I didn’t get their names, I’m sorry) helped flag down a cab for me when the one I ordered didn’t show. Five stars for the staff! The lobby and bar areas are lovely. The room itself was comfortable, although the alley view left a bit to be desired. The lack of sunlight was disappointing by morning two. Even with the train right outside the hotel, the room was quiet. My only real complaints about the room were the poor water pressure in the shower and the lack of USB ports. I haven’t stayed in a hotel room (especially a $200 per night room) that didn’t have at least one USB port somewhere in the room. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would recommend the Silversmith to others.
- 5/5
THE BARDENDER WAS EXCELLECE
- 5/5
Great stay. Great room.
- 5/5
All of the staff including the bar staff late at night was wonderful.
- 5/5
The staff were amazing , very friendly and made us feel at home.
- 5/5
Conviently located and super comfortable mattresses.
- 5/5
Great staff. Helped hold our bags before we checked in, gave us great restaurant recommendations and places to see. Will visit again !!!
- 4/5
Clean room and convenient location to downtown Chicago. You can tell the staff works really hard, but they are all tired and most likely need more help.
- 5/5
It is never easy with parking in downtown Chicago but the parking garage was fairly close. Everyone seemed nice and helpful at the front desk. There was a nice bar in the lobby. Room was spacious
- 5/5
The one negative for this hotel is that a credit card fee was charged on the bill. This is part of doing business. I doubt many customers pay cash on a $1,000 bill.
- 5/5
Everything was perfection except for breakfast which was pretty underwhelming with slow service.
- 4/5
None aplly to nr
- 4/5
Very conveniently located in downtown with walking distance to great restaurants and Millennium Parks. Staff are helpful and courteous in general.
- 5/5
The best hotel to stay if your running the Marathon
- 5/5
Excellent stay! The location is perfect for being able to walk and explore the city. The front desk was very friendly, gave us helpful advise and even a coupon for Lou Malnati's Pizzeria. Would definitely recommend to a friend.
- 5/5
This is a nice hotel in a convenient location. The decor is modern, and the room was comfortable suite design with a separate seating area separated by a door to the bedroom. The "L" Wash-Wabash is one block away from which you can get anywhere in Chicago and surrounding neighborhoods. Good restaurant and full bar located off the lobby.
- 5/5
Great employees
- 5/5
Have at least one dinner at the restaurant (Adamus) because the cod and the short rib tacos were Amazing! Also the tropical mocktail was so good i had three.
- 5/5
Smaller hotel. Large rooms and lovely bathrooms. Quiet and Traditional
- 5/5
Great employees. Super helpful at the front desk. Very friendly bartender was enjoyable to talk with
- 5/5
Great place to stay
- 5/5
Beautiful, clean room. So quiet
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.
- 5/5
Very helpful staff, upgraded my room, free drink coupon.
- 3/5
We had soap scum in our shower, the seal for our bathroom shower needed to be replaced - water seeped out whenever the shower is on, there were cobwebs above the curtains, and it felt dirty and dated everywhere in our room. You can also hear the train and traffic outside even though we were were told the windows were double-paned. I guess it is a city, so it’s unavoidable, but I’ve stayed at other hotels where the noise was a lot less. Elevators are scary and might need to be maintenanced. The door rattles a lot when going up and down. Other than that, the hotel staff was very friendly.
- 5/5
Excellent, elegant hotel. But if the rumbling of "el" the train might keep you awake ...
- 1/5
Very rude staff
- 5/5
The staff was pleasant, efficient and very helpful! We had a minor issue with our room that was quickly resolved. A sign of a well run hotel! We hope to visit the Silversmith again!
- 3/5
This seems like it used to be a very nice hotel, but they have been letting it go. Grout in showers was moldy, furniture and wallpaper was worn and stained, service in the restaurant was poor. Beds were comfortable and room was quiet, and bar area still nice but overall this no longer feels like a luxury hotel. Also, beware, even if you pay in advance on Expedia, the hotel will still slap you with a $26/night “historical preservation charge.” Must have missed that in the fine print. :-(
- 4/5
Bar.
- 5/5
Hotel is very conveniently located to shopping, parks and sightseeing.
- 5/5
Staff was always nice, rooms were clean and bathrooms were huge.
- 4/5
We mistakenly left a C-PAP unit in the room. We contacted the hotel and were referred to an outside app. We used the app and no one ever got back to us. Apparently, they did not care. And, thus, I do not recommend the hotel.
- 5/5
The room was clean but could really use a DEEP cleaning
- 5/5
We had a great stay for our anniversary weekend. Everybody was super nice and welcoming.
- 5/5
Perfect location - staff excellent - easy access - walkable to many locations
- 4/5
I told front desk the power outlet in bathroom was out. No one fixed it during my stay.
- 5/5
Amazing service. Victor was exceptional throughout our stay.
- 5/5
Great lobby and convenience to lakefront events and amenities. Bed and bathroom very comfortable and front desk staff solid.
- 5/5
Great location down town
- 5/5
Victor at the front desk made our stay very special by sending up chocolates and strawberries for my boyfriend's birthday. It was very sweet and the chocolate was delicious.
- 5/5
All the staff was great! The pull out sleeper couch was horrible and desperately needs to be replaced. Horrible to sleep on
- 4/5
Great central Loop location. Extremely convenient to major tourist locations and "L" train stations. Staff was very helpful and large, comfortable bar area. Hotel dates to 1897 (not in a good way) and located adjacent to L train and the immediate block is pretty marginal. Make sure to get a room in the back -- no view (unless you like bricks) but quiet (no train noise).
- 5/5
The Silversmith Hotel and Suites is a beautifully renovated property. The spacious suite passed my re-cleaning/wiping inspection upon arrival. The front desk staff was especially friendly. We loved Beverly's personality. We also appreciated that the elevator is room key activated everytime for safety. The only downfall was the train being outside the window initially. However, after the first day, we forgot it was even there.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel in a great area of Chicago.
- 5/5
Excellent hotel, staff, location.
- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff , comfy bed and overall very comfortable room! Would stay here again!
- 3/5
Terrific staff but tired furnishings just look sad. The location is great but food service is minimal. There’s a wonderful bakery across the street tho.
- 5/5
The staff was wonderful and always helpful if we had questions or needed a recommendation. The location was amazing for the value - very close to major attractions and within easy walking distance to transportation. It was very easy to fly to O’Hare, take the L into the city and walk to the Hotel (about $5 per person)! Definitely will stay there again when we go back to Chicago !!
- 4/5
Overall a good hotel! The location was perfect , it was clean and the service was nice! My only issue was older roofing and rotting on part of the roof in my room by a old hatch.
- 3/5
Spacious room and pleasant helpful staff. Exterior of hotel is unattractive and run down. Noisy at night due to adjacent elevated train. Definitely ask for a room away from the tracks. Also look out for undisclosed charges like credit card processing fee.
- 5/5
It is nice. Subway is loud.
- 4/5
Would not stay here again. Other than one gentleman at the front desk that went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable the rest of the staff came in contact with was horrible. From the valet to the first front desk person we encountered our experience at this hotel was not what we hoped for or expected.
- 5/5
Very welcoming. Front desk staff exceptional in their helpfulness & personality.
- 5/5
Great location. Room was very comfortable. Beverly at the front desk was super friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
First of all, the staff was amazing! They were super helpful and went out of their way to treat us like friends. The hotel was clean and the room is nice. The only drawback is that it’s right by the El. But if you just ask for a room away from the El they are very accomodating
- 2/5
Hotel was ok. The staff is friendly but very slow at their jobs and computer systems are even slower. Bed were very comfortable and shower seem a little dirty.
- 2/5
Just aweful! Room by the L Train! Window filthy!! Secret “preservation fee” daily $30+. TV options are horrible. No vending machines and/or lobby store. Very disappointed for the price.
- 5/5
The staff was very responsive and helpful, going above and beyond expectations.
- 5/5
Nice
- 5/5
The entire staff on site was helpful and very polite. The location is perfect, close to lots of restaurants and things to do and see.
- 5/5
Hotel staff were very friendly and efficient. Hotel is clean and economical. I felt very safe in this hotel
- 5/5
This was my second time staying at Silversmith. Love the location of the hotel. I wish I remember the name of the woman who checked us in but the whole staff is fantastic. I have had nothing but good experiences when staying here. Will be my go to hotel for Chicago.
- 5/5
This is not my first time staying at this hotel and will not be my last. Whenever possible I will book here because of how nice the hotel is, how great the staff is, and the location.
- 5/5
Property staff was very friendly my wife and I came up here with our 4 year old daughter for a surgery a day early to give her a fun day before the appointment. The staff and hotel added to my daughters Chicago experience
- 3/5
The room had quite a bit of dust in the bathroom. One clerk was very nice and took care of me after he saw that the other male clerk was working on the computer and refused to acknowledge me at all.
- 5/5
Great location. Overall experience was very good. Only saw some minor details in the room that required maintenance, like wall paper not properly.
- 5/5
Nice place good location
- 3/5
Stayed 4 nights. Room was not cleaned at all during our stay. Too much money for such little service.
- 3/5
Our room and the hotel in general were clean and safe. Staff were ok, with cleaning staff being very friendly while the front desk staff were basically indifferent. The room was clean and spacious. They provided a bathrobe, which is a nice detail, but no slippers. Unfortunately, the bed was too soft for us, so by the third night, sleep was hard to come by. Not to be overly critical, but I also found the bathroom a bit inconvenient with just two places (behind the door and next to the shower) to hang towels... I mean, if you have two people staying in the room and use a couple of bath towels, one hand towel and a couple of face towels, you run out of real estate quickly. Before our check out our final day, the maid service knocked on our door and asked if we were leaving. It seems her manager had told her we had already checked out, and this was several hours before our check out time. It wasn't a big deal, and the cleaning lady was apologetic and really nice, but when we mentioned it to the front desk staff, they were completely dismissive. All in all, although this hotel is ok and is located at a great spot, I probably won't be back and will look for other options where we've had better experiences.
- 5/5
We have stayed at the Silversmith several times, it is conveniently located for walking, dining and shopping. It is clean, quiet and the staff is excellent!
- 1/5
Our trip started off worrisome. We had a concert to be at by 6pm. We arrived at 3pm and our room wasn’t ready. They told us that the hotel was oversold and that was why. We finally got into our room after 4pm. We were given free breakfast vouchers for one day, although when I look back on my reservation, I had already upgraded my reservation to come with daily breakfast. I never received that. We had a premium junior suite because we have 2 children traveling with us. We asked for an extra comforter for the child staying on the pull out couch. Because they were oversold, they had no extra blankets, until about 8pm when someone finally found the last thin blanket in the hotel and brought it to us. We paid for 3 nights. After night 2, our cards stopped working. We had them reactivated. Someone came up to our room a couple hours later and told us we needed to check out and we didn’t have a reservation for this night. Went down to front desk and handled that. Now comes the big one. My husband and child went out to a concert this night. When they arrived back at the hotel at midnight, their cards didn’t work yet again and they couldn’t get into the hotel room. Myself and other child were asleep in room. He asked front desk for help, and without checking the woman told him she couldn’t do anything as he wasn’t on the room. He asked how he was supposed to get to room and still offered no help. She threatened to call the cops on him and our 15 year old daughter
- 4/5
Nice property old as expected, however the wallpaper in our room was peeling off, didn’t seem to have AC just a vent with a fan.
- 4/5
Fantastic staff, lovely Molten Brown toiletries in the room. Some fixtures in the room were a little worn and there was no bedside table on one side of the bed which is a bit strange, but the bed was super comfortable. Quiet and well located. Good value and a good stay.
- 5/5
I would absolutely return for my next trip to Chicago.
- 5/5
Excellent. Could have used a bath rug and the room vents looked rusted and dirty. We had an overall wonderful stay. No issues came up that we needed addressed.
- 4/5
The negatives were the bed sizes, double/full instead of queen. And due to the humidity (it was in the high 90s) the carpet was damp our entire stay. I didn’t say anything about this to the staff because I didn’t figure they had any control over it. Turning our AC down did not help at all.
- 3/5
Once inside the hotel felt safe enough but amenities were scarce. Dirty annd ugly part of Chicago.
- 5/5
Location is great. Parking is difficult
- 5/5
Comfortable but swanky we were very happy with our stay.
- 5/5
Outstanding property & staff!
- 5/5
Boutique type Hotel in the heart of the loop. Walking distance to great shopping and easy access to public transportation. I was very happy with our stay.
- 5/5
.
- 5/5
Great room and close to attractions
- 5/5
The Silversmith was a wonderful hotel for a night in Chicago. Front desk, bar, and housekeeping staff were all very friendly and helpful! Hotel was beautiful, clean, and quiet. My only minor complaints were that the room felt very damp and slightly musty because of that and the Margarita pizza at the bar was really ok.
- 5/5
Friendly staff.
- 5/5
Loved I was allowed to check in a little early. In Miami, there's none of that. The worst hotel hospitality in the country. Clean rooms, large bathroom, comfortable beds and pillows.
- 5/5
The hotel was lovely. Our room and bed was extremely comfortable. The staff was very helpful and provided discount tickets for the architectural boat tour. Everything to explore was within walking distance. We found a wonderful authentic italian restaurant, family owned for a hundred years ... be sure to visit The Italian Village.
- 5/5
Prime location for sightseeing, close to everything with easy transportation.
- 5/5
Valet service was easy to use. Close to so many things. Bathroom and shower were amazing! Shower space, water pressure etc was excellent. During the day it seemed very much safe. It was at night is when the creepy crawlies came out. But that isn’t the hotel’s fault, it’s the mayor’s fault.
- 5/5
Had an excellent stay at the Silversmith. The staff was always greeting you as you entered the building and was always asking if we needed anything. Will definitely stay here again.
- 1/5
Extremely noisy train right outside the window and down a few floors! Terrible noise.
- 5/5
Great spot we have stayed here before. We like the small feel where staff remember your name...
- 5/5
Our stay was awesome! Every staff member we interacted with was kind, knowledgeable and helpful. The bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. The location was an easy walk to the River Walk, Navy Pier and Millennium Park.
- 5/5
Gorgeous hotel

Love the place! Staff was wonderfully helpful and friendly! Location is right on the CTA green line and around the block from CTA Red line! Two blocks from the 'bean'! You couldn't ask for a better night's sleep in a great hotel!

Perfect stay! Great location

The location is fantastic and convenient. Cleanliness could use some work, the bathroom was quite dusty. Requested an email receipt upon checkout and did not receive it, nor after an email follow up request. I would suggest asking for a printed copy to be sure you get it.

Great location, very convenient. Short walk to a lot of food options. The room furniture could use an update though. You’ll sink right into the bed and couch.

Convenience store across street, lots of restaurants, Dunkin' donuts and coffee across street, boat architecture tour nearby, riverwalk nearby, several museums nearby and Grant Park with Cloud Gate walking distance.

Outstanding staff; helpful friendly and kind. Room was noisy so the only negative I have is sound insulation could have been better. Maybe a different floor would have been quite? Enjoyed my stay and hope to come back

Staff were all very welcoming and friendly! Room was much larger than expected, and felt even bigger with high ceilings. Close proximity to Grant Park, Millenium Park, shopping & restaurants. Bed was very comfortable & bathroom was also large, with separate bath & shower. Overall, a great stay! Highly recommend!

The hotel is fairly well kept and very accessible. Jasmine at the front desk was attentive. Free water bottles at front desk and microwaves are a plus. However, a lamp in our room didn’t work and no black out curtains either. No USB ports so be sure to bring adapters. Small TV with no way to stream anything, not even google chromecast, just cable channels with mediocre quality. Drink vouchers for bar was nice and bartender was friendly. Largest grievance was we requested late checkout at 4:43 PM on text the day before, got no response until 6:11 AM where they said to wait until 7 when the manager comes in (same answer we got when we asked at the front desk at 11 pm). I texted 3 more times between 8 and 10 am- no response. When we called at 11 am to ask one last time before checkout at 12, they said they couldn’t grant any extension because they had already granted it to too many people. We had been asking for over 16 hours with close to no response. Luggage storage wasn’t behind a locked door either. However, location was close to Lollapalooza, Target, 7-11, and a shopping mall, and a station near multiple of the trains and busses. Would stay here again!

The “L” train was as right outside the hotel making it very convenient to get around. There are also lots of restaurants and shops in easy walking distance.

Everything was good just didn’t love that they only made the room every other day
- 5/5
I liked the location for what we were in town for. Super close to the train for transportation. I did not like that as much as we were paying for the stay, they didn’t have complimentary breakfast. Based on that alone, I would lean towards finding a hotel option that offers this.

Everything went great staff was very polite and professional.

Great spot to stay, lovely front desk staff upon check in, room was a suite but really didn’t qualify for a suite because couch was old and uncomfortable. Hotel charges an extra 28.00 a day for water and coffee in lobby (no coffee until 7am) Otherwise, good place to stay

Pricy for less service

We loved the historic feel of the building right off the bat. The art deco vibe was very cool. Our room was huge as was the bathroom area. The bed was SO comfortable with lovely sheets. We both slept great! The location is 3 blocks from Millenium Park and close to the train and bus. The bartenders Renee and Ben were friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back!

We loved the suite. It was an amazing stay.

The property is in a great location. It’s conveniently located near the CTA, less than 3mi from Millennial Park, and good restaurants. The property could use a few updates- tv, aesthetics, cleanliness etc. The front desk staff, bar and maintenance were all friendly and helpful.

The bed was very comfortable. The bar service was very nice and quiet especially after a long day out in the city. Breakfast service was better than expected since we were the only ones there. Better breakfast sandwich than across the street and much more quiet!

Good restaurants, great service, great drinks, great in-room dining, great location from everything, and great upgrades. It’s rare that I say you actually get what you pay for.

Front desk and concierge were extremely helpful. After breakfast hours, we were able to bring in food and eat at the tables for dinner; very convenient for a family with two toddlers. Location was excellent!

We liked that everything we wanted to see was in walking distance & front desk was super helpful. We were surprised our room & bathroom did not get tidied up each day.
